- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: as force multipliers for their personal mission.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: He also happens to be a dad, a husband, the author, the best seller, the million dollar body method, and he has been told that he makes mean tacos.

- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: Hey everyone, welcome to the bomb life podcast.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: Today we have my dear friend, Nate Palmer.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: Nate, welcome to the show.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_04]: I'm so happy.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_04]: This is my first time on the bomb life podcast.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_04]: This is the bomb bomb podcast, but this is like this is next level.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: This is next level.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so happy you're here.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's been way too long.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like we took way too much time to have you back.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_04]: Truly, but you've been busy at a busy, you know, the stars of I've aligned and we're here now and it's all the matters.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_04]: It's magical.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_04]: I can just feel it.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's so magical.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: There's like so much of your life that I watch on Instagram and see how stuff you're doing and I'm like, oh my God, he's got so much going on.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like you feel my life in my world with everything with the business and parenting and training and sports and injury like I can relate.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: I can relate to your world.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I feel like I'm, I'm like posting a lot of like old pictures of things that I've done, so my life is cooler on the internet than it is in real life.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_04]: But like when I see your stuff, like your tournaments all the time, because your girls are like amazing athletes.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_04]: My son is he's just not even good at T-ball.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_04]: yet yet he takes his nose a lot instead of catching balls but you know it's like but we're not spending it that much time at like sporting events and i'm having to drive around places and stuff like that so i'm not to that point in my parenting life yet but i see your life and i see it's coming
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, is the big, is the big one.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: And what really sucks, my oldest is at Cal State.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll just say Cal State, because there's a lot of Cal States.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: And she tore her, oh, bleakly, not her oblique, but like her ab muscle that runs right here.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it's a rectus abdominis, yeah, horrible.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: I know and she did it last year.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: She like tweaked it kind of pulled it last year and I'm like, you need to say something and speak up and she took some time off it healed up and then she was back and she was a freshman and like got a starting position and it was like, yeah, okay, yeah, you know.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then this season starter again, like doing great and then she's like, mom, I have this pain here again.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: I have this pain and I got an infrared light and I'm like sending
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: stuff to put on it and he'll and it just kept getting worse and worse and now because it's all like stretching you know like coming back blocking and reaching you know she's a middle and uh i'm like you need to decide like now i'm like i can't tell you what to do i'm like but your coach has a right to know and i'm like what level is it like one to ten she's like when i hit it's a nine i'm like oh you know ten is like death right she's like yeah she's like i almost threw up
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you need to tell them so they ultrasound it, but my life, my whole point of sharing that was my life would be ten times crazier right now If you can even imagine if she was playing she because she's had like two or three weeks off now I'd be back and forth to even college games
- 7:46[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's a lot.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's coming, my friend.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's coming.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, especially my daughter's seven now.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_04]: And she's like, I want to be Olympic gymnast.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_04]: I want to be a dancer.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_04]: I want to be a soccer player.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, well, you're going to be six feet tall.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't think gymnast is really in your future.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't say that, but I was like, yes, honey, you can do it.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know what though?
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the thing, you know what?
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: My daughter's, my youngest is going to be really tall.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: She's probably going to be tall as tall as my oldest.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: And she loves tumbling.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: I want to do gymnastics.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go do it all for it.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: I want to do gymnastics.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: So she doesn't want to do volleyball.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I put her in tumbling.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: And she's really good at it.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: And she's long.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, her foot is bigger than mine already.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: And she's 14.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: And now she's really good.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, we need to do something with this skill.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: You know, what do you want to do?
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: And she started to cheer.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: So now she's doing competitive cheer.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: And apparently, that's becoming a really big thing.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: And they need taller spotters or base or whatever, like strong girls that are tall to lift the other girls up and have tumbling skills.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: There's your scholarship.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_04]: All right, I don't know if I want to be a cheer dad, but you know, I don't think it's up to me at this point.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's not you looped off control.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: I do not want to be a cheer mom.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: The butt was the lashes, the spray tan.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, this is why we left the ants.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_04]: But I do think that gymnastics and dance are awesome for for like young girls, for teaching them body awareness and how to move through space.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_04]: And I think those skills translate to any other sport that they play.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm, I'm never going to take her out of she wants to keep doing volleyball.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_04]: Keep to make her arms are in gymnastics.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_04]: It's a bigger
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: It is, yeah.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: And all my girls danced.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: They all danced.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: They all did some type of tumbling.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: It definitely helped them.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: So while we're talking about dad stuff, I was telling Mr. Nate, like how we switched over from the bomb, mom podcast, to the bomb life podcast, and we have so many male listeners.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I love that.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: No one has to hide this thing to the show anymore.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: No one has to hide.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 9:37[SPEAKER_04]: I've been a closet bomb bomb listener for a long time.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_04]: I know.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so glad that you could just be out and in the open.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: We still love you.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: But there's a ton of guys that listen and they're all struggling and trying to figure out how do I balance.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: work.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: How do I balance being a partner?
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: How do I balance training and you know doing everything that you're telling to?
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: How do you navigate that space right now in life?
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: Because you got pretty young kids that you work, you have the whole supplement line, you're married like, what's your secret to that?
- 10:11[SPEAKER_04]: For me, right now, the number one thing that predicts my success in a day is what time I get up and how I get up.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_04]: So I feel like it's like waking up in the morning is really important.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_04]: So I feel like I'm kind of my wake up times keeping like,
- 10:27[SPEAKER_04]: Like earlier and earlier like for a while, it was like six and it was five thirty and it was five and now it's like four thirty-ish If I want to like really get some like workouts in or like get like make sure I'm showered and like ready for the day and stuff But if I can wake up at four thirty feeling good my day is already like
- 10:42[SPEAKER_04]: on such a good foot because that's where how I can get actually like wake up, take the supplements that I need to take, get a little bit of movement in, make a meal, be prepared, and then walk out the door with like all my stuff and I'm like I'm ready to do what I need to do.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_04]: It's my first client now, is it six a.m. so like I
- 10:58[SPEAKER_04]: like, and I feel like, you know, at that time, my day stops really belonging to me.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_04]: So I go to my client, then I come to the office, I do a little bit of work here, then I go home, try to pick up my kids.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_04]: So I try to like be done with work by like three o'clock so I can pick up my daughter from school.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_04]: So like,
- 11:14[SPEAKER_04]: And like at that point, if I can squeeze a workout on the afternoon, that's cool, but like I cannot rely on that.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_04]: And I find that a lot of my clients who are men can't rely on that either.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_04]: Like it's always a really nice thought that you can work out at 4 p.m. or 5 p.m. but like the realities that just seems like you missed that day.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_04]: And then you then it's harder to do the next day.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_04]: I was that like when you procrastinate like pushing it back doesn't make it easier to start.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_04]: So then you create this more, more, more, more friction.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_04]: So I find that if I can just get out of the way early, like that sets me up for way better success.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_04]: And like, you know, like, that window is not super long.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm, my workouts are like 35, 40 minutes.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_04]: But it's totally fine because I feel like I've got like a good handle on, like, what I need to do, my, it's really short to the point.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_04]: I find that they're very effective, especially if you have the right mindset going into it.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_04]: So that's like, that's kind of my been the lynch pin for training and nutrition is getting up early and making sure I'm like ready to roll for the day.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_04]: The other stuff though, that's harder.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_04]: I think like being a good husband, being a good dad, like that stuff takes a lot more mental energy and I thought it was gonna come easy for me, but man, it's been a challenge.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: What's been hardest part?
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: But what's been the most like surprising to you?
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like, wow, I didn't think I was gonna have to deal with or struggle with.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_04]: I think like yelling at my kids, honestly, like getting more patient.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I thought I'd have like a lot more like bandwidth for that sort of thing, but like I find myself getting like hot or angsty or whatever really quickly.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_04]: And it's been a, it's been a challenge for me to, to like,
- 12:40[SPEAKER_04]: just like have a bit more peace around that and also like I think a lot of that also came from like more like the acceptance of my kids as they are rather than trying to make them something that I want them to be and that is a I'm not saying I have that I'm saying I try to remember that on a daily basis and I'm about you know 50 50 on it and it's so hard because like
- 13:10[SPEAKER_04]: Right, I just get a man of people like, how do you do it?
- 13:12[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, I just do.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_04]: They just thought, this is do it.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_04]: And then it's like, when it comes to kids, they're like, you talk to, you should talk to your kids like this or treat them like this or do this and I'm like, okay, got it.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_04]: And then they, and then I go like, all right, guys, we're getting ready.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_04]: Can you put your shoes on?
- 13:24[SPEAKER_04]: And they're like screaming around and I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like this.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: Where's the robot?
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: Where's the robot button?
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's okay.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: I have patience.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to turn it on.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_04]: And all 10 recommend would have loved to have read it when my kids were like really, really little, but it's this lady, Michaeline Duke clef who goes to three, like not indigenous, but like more kind of like the hunter gather types of societies.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_04]: So the Maya people outside of like Cancun, Mexico, the Inuit people,
- 13:58[SPEAKER_04]: in Alaska, and then this small tribe and Tanzania look hunter-gathers.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_04]: And she just talks about the lessons that she sees and the way that they talk to their kids and how to get their kids ready.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_04]: And it's a lot more of these kids not toys.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_04]: They just play with the stuff that's already there.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_04]: And the kids are included in all of the aspects of the home and the work and so like that.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_04]: They are very much a part of the family, whereas I feel like I have built myself a role as like give her a food and of treats
- 14:28[SPEAKER_04]: social events for my children.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_04]: And they're like, one more of the water is please, sir.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_04]: We love more cheese crisps.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_04]: You know, like, take me type out that party.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_04]: And like, that's not my role.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to do that.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm trying to help them become more of a part of the family.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, I need you guys to tell me clean this up.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, take your plates and put them in the dishwasher.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, I want you to mix this up.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_04]: And they suck at that stuff.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_04]: They're so bad at it.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_04]: But the thing is they're not going to get me better.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_04]: But I don't let them practice.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, then I'm just reinforcing that I do those things and they just can just chill and watch TV and that's not the like the type of kid I want to raise so it's like connecting in a lot of ways it gives me a lot of like aspiration and
- 15:09[SPEAKER_04]: It is hard.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, and anything that's worth doing, or if you're going to be really good at it, it's hard.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like nothing comes easy.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: I've said that before of like, it is really hard to be a good parent.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like it would be so much easier if I just fed my kids like Lunchables all the time and like for sure didn't pay attention.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: And they was loving time.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, they were that.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my youngest and I just got into it the other day because you're you're young, but cell phones are coming.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, is that a battle?
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, you can't be in your bed with your phone.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's just a playing rule now.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you, and she's like, what am I supposed to do?
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, stand next to your bed on your phone.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, like, but that's the rule now.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you don't understand how much this technology is changing a brain and
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: We don't even know we don't even know fully what it's doing to our next and our fingers But our eyeballs in our brain in your attention and like not even a mention the EMFs that you're being exposed to We need to touch it on your body like oh my god The I rolls in the fight in the tears and I'm like good lord, but I'm like a lot of I have to put as I hit my mic I get all animated Like a lot of I have to put boundaries around this like I could be a shitty parent and just be like Whatever, but
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: I can't.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so I've been thinking about a lot about this.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_04]: My kids are not there yet.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_04]: I've got a lot of ideas in my head, but I feel like it's like a lot of them, people who are not parents are like, oh, no, I would never raise my kids that way.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_04]: And you're like, shut the fuck up.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_04]: So I have, but like one of my thoughts is that like, I want to show my kids and expose them to a lot of like the documentaries like the social dilemma and some of these new things that are coming out talking about how girl self-esteem peaks at age seven because of social media, et cetera.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_04]: Like have you shown your daughters some of these like hard hitting documentaries and statistics and feel it stuff like that and been like this is why it's not mean mom it's because literally these are bad things does have you done that.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I've done it with many topics, not just like that type of thing.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was the dilemma one that I made them watch in my middle one.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: And it's funny because it all hits them all differently.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them roll their eyes.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: Some were like, oh, and they listen.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: Some just think I'm stupid.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: And like I have 20 kids.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: But she actually set her own limits on her phone, like the parental limits of like she's like I'm only allowed social media this much but it woke her up and you know kids all listen different but I've done that with food I've made them watch different food documentaries and those you have to be careful because I'm like now we have to remember who produced this who supplied the studies we're just going to take bits and pieces from this right does not mean that eating meat is bad.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm like, but we're going to take this information from it.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: There's this really good one.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: God, I can't think of the name, but they went through all of the cosmetics and the chemicals that women are exposed to.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it hit him a little bit, but not a whole lot.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, I just do think that I'm hearing from other people's important.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: But again, you have to be careful.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: that like, this isn't the end all be all.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: We're just going to take some knowledge from this and take some of that and then come back.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_04]: I think exposing your kids to a lot of that sort of thing can eventually lead them to start making their own kind of discoveries because I think hearing it from us they're like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but you're like, this is a doctor.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_04]: He's got a beard, you know,
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and I think your kids are going to be like so much more advanced than others because they see you getting up early.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: They see you training.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I know they're still little, but my kids don't know a life outside of that.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you, Nate, it's so cool to watch that.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like my daughters in college and she's in season.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: And she's still lifting in like doing things, you know, she came home this weekend and she went to the gym with me yesterday.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: And today she's like, what time are we going to the gym?
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's just
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: in her.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: I love that in them and my middle one's like wrapping up high school volleyball their seasons ending and she's like can you add me to your membership now?
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: She's like because I'm not going to be able to go when you go like it's just in them and they watch with the eat she doesn't say she doesn't say she's not a diet or anything because we don't talk like that but she's so cute because she's she won't want they want to like chickfully and stuff after a game the other day and she's like I don't want that she's like I'm on my grind.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, lock-in queen like okay, and she's like I don't want this.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm on my grind right now She's like I need to start building and I'm like oh my god I love ever bitch.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: I did not tell you that but she's not saying I'm on a diet I'm obviously no, I'm on my grind but that's gonna be your kids because they watch They watch and they see you my daughter asked me to do all dads have abs and I was like that's the nicest thing Anyone's ever said to me?
- 19:40[UNKNOWN]: Oh
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you need that on a shirt.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: I swear, God, I give you shirt ideas every time we talk.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_01]: You just put like, daughter.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, do all that's have ads, that's best.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_04]: But on the back, I asked my son the other day.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, what should I get from my new tattoo?
- 19:53[SPEAKER_04]: Because I was going to get a tattoo right here.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_04]: I got this one.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_04]: It says, may hold on to those, which is Spanish for better together.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_04]: But I asked my son who's for like what should I get my tattoo?
- 20:02[SPEAKER_04]: He's gonna.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_04]: He's gonna zombie tattoo And I was like that's a good idea.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_04]: He says yeah, and then underneath it put eat meat not brains And I was like that's insane, bro.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_04]: What a good idea So I made a shirt for them for Halloween with that on there Make me one You got I'll put on the store.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_04]: It'll be up on the store.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, do it like right away That is the best it was my god.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_04]: So funny
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: See, kids are great.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's so great.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: You're such little assholes, but they're great.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_04]: But also like, okay, I think that like kind of going back to your original questions, like how do you do it all?
- 20:37[SPEAKER_04]: I think a lot of it for me is like setting boundaries and defining priorities.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_04]: And I feel so, so blessed to have little kids right now because it's made my priorities like crystal clear.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_04]: Like my job is like good dad, good husband.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_04]: That's my fucking job, you know, like entrepreneur, trainer,
- 20:57[SPEAKER_04]: are secondary to my main job.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_04]: So every single day I wake up and I know what my job is.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_04]: And that's a really good place for a man to be.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like I need that kind of direction in my life.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_04]: Like I need to have like a goal.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_04]: And I feel so, so, like, grateful and thankful to have like little kids that need me in their life to like help shape them and mold them.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_04]: Because it gives me a lot of direction and I feel like I'm looking forward to now and like when they're both 18 out of the house And like I'm like what I'm like, what am I going to do then Lindsey and I fun fact Lindsey my wife and I have only lived by ourselves For one year of her entire marriage we've been married 14 years We've had room mates the entire time.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah
- 21:34[SPEAKER_04]: We live for a year to a year alone when we first got married.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_04]: We moved to Seattle, and lived with roommates there for four years.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_04]: Then traveled to South America for a year, lived in the hostels.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of weird roommates who snored.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_04]: Then came back here and lived with two of my best friends from college.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_04]: Then we moved out of one place and moved in with another friend.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_04]: And then we've had kids and just have never been by ourselves.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't know if I'm going to do my hands.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to have sex swings.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: And you guys are going to get all like, we're a freak.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_04]: It's our sexual rhythms and our 50s.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, since it's going to be glorious.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god, that's crazy.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, all of that, thank you, thank you.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_04]: No, I think I think keep going with where you're at.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think I can get you in the kitchen.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, no, it's so funny because I have so many clients in that age where their kids are like teens and starting to leave and they're like, I have some people like our going to sex clubs.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: Some are like going to strippers and stuff and like exploring that like together not nothing like bad and and they're like Is this wrong?
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: What are we doing with this and I'm like if you're together and you're enjoying it and your kids are old and like Fuck it go for it like why not like take the shame away from it and obviously you're going to these places and you're not alone They're packed other people are doing it too and not the only one you know as long as you have boundaries and communication around it
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's really important, but yeah, what would you say to the guy that's listening because I guarantee there's someone listening right now and they're going my number one job is not dad and parent like it should be I'm aware of it, but like hearing you say that probably just stirred something inside of them and they were like what do I do?
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: How do I get back on track because I'm a CEO or I run and operate this or what do you say to them that they might be freaking out right now?
- 23:22[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, like, I don't feel like I have like a lot of wisdom to be like, you should do it like this.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_04]: But in my mind, like, I feel like I like to study people like who I know, like my grandpa was a great man.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_04]: He passed away was 94.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_04]: And I think one of his chief regrets in life was that he, like, wasn't around for his kids growing up.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_04]: And he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he
- 23:42[SPEAKER_04]: So he made himself available to his grandkids a lot and he like he was a big fixture in my life And that was really important to me, but I don't think that my dad got that from him I think that was one of his regrets like like when he was like on his deathbed and then he looked at like other people who like spend their entire life grinding and
- 23:58[SPEAKER_04]: creating this income because they're providing for their family, right, quote unquote.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_04]: And then they look back and they go, I missed it.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_04]: I missed all of it.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_04]: I missed all of my kids games and events.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_04]: And like, I don't have a relationship with them.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_04]: I have all this money in the success on paper, but like now you spend all this time now gaining this back.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_04]: I think the ending can be said for kind of your health as well.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_04]: Like we sacrifice our health at the alter of like financial success.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_04]: And they were like, well, we'll get to it.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_04]: We'll get to it.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_04]: We'll get to it.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_04]: I had my cousins, my cousin's dad, hard worker, like worked his whole life, blue collar guy, and his big goal in life was to take his family on a trip to the Bahamas.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_04]: Get enough, make enough money to do that, and he's like, whenever tired, I would do that, when I would retire, I would do that.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_04]: Well, like, though year before he retired, it was out ATVing with one of his sons, flipped the ATV and died.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_04]: Never got to take the trip.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: Oh.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_04]: And so like I always think about like what do I want to be do I want to be a business man with a family or do I want to be a family man with a business You know what I mean like what what comes first for me what am I gonna what am I gonna look back on and like and be really really proud of and what are the potential regrets I have And this is something that I do a lot in in my life like to motivate myself.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_04]: I like to kind of go to like that a little bit of a dark place for example Like I want to be better at home with helping my wife with things in the house
- 25:09[SPEAKER_04]: Right, like the little things.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_04]: Take another trash.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_04]: Make sure the stuff's clean and picked up.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_04]: And these are not things that are like big, explosive.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_04]: I should stop watching porn.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_04]: I should stop gambling away all of our money.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_04]: You know, like things like that, the little things.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_04]: But I think that like, for me, what I do is like, okay, I'm like, I see the trash and it's full.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm like, I don't want to take it out.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_04]: But then I think, well, then like, then Lindsay's gonna take it out.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_04]: Like, yeah.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_04]: And number one, she's too good for that.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_04]: I'd like, like, like, full-stop, like, she doesn't deserve to be taking the trash out.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I should need to take that off her plate because she's too good for that.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_04]: And then be, I'll take myself down this rabbit hole of like, okay, what happens if I don't take that trash out?
- 25:43[SPEAKER_04]: She takes it out and then she gets it out again.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_04]: And then she gets it again and then she builds up a little bit of resentment.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_04]: And then there resentment leads to separation, communication issues.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_04]: And that leads to a divorced.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_04]: And then if I get divorced for my kids, divorce kids are like 74% more likely to end up on drugs.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_04]: then she gets remarried.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_04]: So another man is raising my children.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_04]: And then I have a like a rear-fresh relationship.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_04]: And then I'm in this really, really dark, like ugly headspace.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, I'm just gonna take the fucking trash out.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_04]: Ha ha ha.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_04]: How hard is that?
- 26:08[SPEAKER_04]: Jesus, dude, like, ah.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_04]: No, I sometimes like, I like to go a little bit more like, just walk down like the worst possible.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_04]: like how comes of these things to make it to almost provide myself this contrasting view of how my life could end up.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_04]: If I don't do these little things very like a very nice before Christmas Scrooge.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_04]: Scrooge situation.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: No, and as like psycho, as that sounds and like, don't go down the rabbit hole, don't go to the dark place.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: If you took my life back 17 years and you watched like what happened with like through my marriage and my, you know, my ex and like how we communicated and when he traveled because he was, it was very much like the opposite.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: He was a business man with a family.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: And if you watch that your whole rabbit hole happened so as like dark and like oh my god that's kind of weird that's that's true and one little thing does lead up and we tell our clients is all the time like the little things matter and
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, to have the guts to be able to do that, like I give you credit, but the same thing for like your health and fitness, like you miss that one workout, look what happens the next day and like what you just exposed your brain to and like what you're telling yourself in your mindset of like, what's okay and what's not okay.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the little things are big things huge.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and that's why I love like the kind of the core value that I have and like the message in my in my business of get 1% better get all about like just those micro improvements because like 1% better means I take the trash out 1% better means I do an extra rep it doesn't mean that I start meal planning and tracking my calories and you know hitting the gym five times a week it means one little thing here and then one little thing there and then you look back over the course of a year five years ten years and you're like holy shit look what I've accomplished look how far I've got I've grown.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_04]: But I think the mistake you will make is they try to flip everything all at once.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_04]: They're going to be the best pair.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to do the best husband would be meal prep every Sunday.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_04]: And then they like after a week they're like, I'm exhausted and I'm not better, you know.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_04]: You can't maintain this.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_04]: You can maintain 1%.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know that I hear a lot too.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I hear this out of my kids, too, and it drives me nuts, but I hear a lot of people say, well, I take the trash out, sure, I'll do that for her, so she doesn't have to do whatever.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: And then it's, what does she do for me?
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, she's she going to do anything for me, or what are they going to do for me?
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like if I do that, then that happens.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, and I try to nip that in the butt now with the kids, you know, they're like, well, does she have to do that?
- 28:35[SPEAKER_01]: If I have to do, and I'm like, no, we're just worrying about you right now.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I hear that a lot with relationships stuff.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: And people are like, well, if I do that, what do they do and for me?
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, oh my God.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_04]: And yeah, then you end up with this like this contractual tip for tats, type of relationship.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_04]: And that's not good.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_04]: That's not fun.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_04]: No one likes to be held like, well, I did this on Tuesday.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_04]: So you need to do it on Thursday.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_04]: Like, that sucks.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_04]: I heard, like, when I got married, my parents got divorced and I was 11.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_04]: So I've been always afraid of getting married because I didn't want to get a divorce.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I feel like, you know, kids of divorce are,
- 29:07[SPEAKER_04]: X amount percentage more likely to do it and that like that freaked me out.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_04]: So I talked to a lot of people who had either gone through divorces and and like got remarried or people who had like really strong marriages before I got married and one of the one of the like older dudes I talked to and who had had like been married for like 45-50 years had a great marriage like just seemed like a lovely human being salto the earth, you know.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_04]: He said, I always try to out-serve my wife.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_04]: And he said that she does the same for me.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_04]: So we're always in this competition to see who can serve the other person the most.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_04]: And then another guy said, he was like, I can't believe you're asking me this.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, that's a really strange question.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_04]: But he said, one of the things that he did was he pipped a typically, like, feminine, like, task.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_04]: For him, it was like, clean the floors.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_04]: And he's like, and I just owned that.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_04]: I cleaned our floors the entire time we've been together.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_04]: And so I do the dishes.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_04]: I just do the dishes all the time.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_04]: That's just what I do.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_04]: And then sometimes Lindsay does the dishes.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, wow, that was nice of her.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_04]: But there's no exchange of value.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_04]: And that's the thing I want to teach my kids, as well.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, you help the family.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_04]: And so I'm trying to not just get them involved in that way, but also reinforce that behavior, not being like, hey, you did so good on that.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_04]: You're so smart, you're so awesome at the dishes.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, hey, you really help the family.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_04]: You really are a part of the community.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_04]: You were really bringing a lot to the table.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_04]: I think they they love being a part of the team.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it again, it shows their role.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: They're helping like my and your kids will be this way.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like I know I know you will like what my kids are so trained that when I make dinner because I sat there and made dinner and did that and like stood in my feet and did all that when I'm done I even just leave my plate at the table now and I leave and my kids they do all the cleanup.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even have to say it anymore.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_04]: That's so awesome.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even have to say, okay, you clean up.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: You do this.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: They divide the, you know, you do counters, you do floor, you do dishes, you do put leftovers, like, and they just do it.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even have to say, I'm like, I'm gonna go shower.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna go for my walk.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: I usually go for my walk at that time.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: Then I come back in the kitchen and it's cleaned.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: And people are always like, how do you do that?
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, expectations, boundaries.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like, being a part of the family.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: I cooked, why should I have to clean up?
- 31:11[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I love that.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: I stuck to it and then my acts of like, so we're having some issues.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, yeah, no shit.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, do they do this at your house?
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, yeah, I'm like, actually they do all the dishes.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like my oldest came home yesterday.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, it's your turn for the dishwasher.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: You've been gone for weeks since you got loaded the dishwasher.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't say anything, man.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: Just did it.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's awesome.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: You know your rules.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm kind of dying to talk to you about you, Jitsu.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: I love Jitsu.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_04]: I'm so sad, I haven't been able to do it in a while.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_04]: I don't really know.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_04]: I don't really know.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_04]: You've been there.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_04]: Someone told me, though, and I kind of laughed it off at the time, but he told me, because he was out for a little bit, and he's like, he's a purple bell.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_04]: He's going to get his brown belt pretty soon.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_04]: He was like, listen, Nate, like, Jesuits will always be there for you.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_04]: He's like, you, if you take time off, you come back, and Jesuits is there for you.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, oh, okay.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, whatever dude, I'm still trying to train twice a day.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_04]: And then I'm hurt, I'm like, well, all right.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_04]: It'll be there when I come back.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_04]: I'm probably in the best place I've been in five weeks now.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_04]: I was pretty low for a minute there, real depressed.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_04]: Just like, I love moving.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_04]: I love training.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_04]: I love all the aspects of physicality.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_04]: And so not to not have that was challenging, but I'm in a good spot right now where it is.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_04]: We'll build back up, work on what we can work on, and then we'll get there.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: And that will call it a setback bump in the road, whatever you want to call it, you're going to learn so much from that.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to make you a better athlete.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to make you a better dad.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to make you a better coach, like learning and growing from that.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_04]: And I hate that.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_04]: I hate the forced growth through pain.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: But here we are.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_04]: I'd rather opt in for my pain, like opt in for Getsu or opt in for training, opt in for hard cardio.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: Today's episode is brought to you by simply green gummies.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's S-I-M-P-L-I greens.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: And my family and I have been using them for months now and we love the results.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's ridiculously easy.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: And my kids actually take them without a fight.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I can toss mine in my bag and go, no blender, no mess, just chew and done.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: Inside each gummy, real nutrition.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: From 14 green veggies, like spinach, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts, plus superfoods, spirulina, and clorella.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: There are 100% plant derivative gluten-free organic and made without the cheap fillers or synthetic junk that your body struggles to use, what makes simply greens different from other green supplements.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: There are formula combines greens for superfoods, plus essential vitamins, herbs like B12, D3, zinc, echinacea, all in one gummy, and because it's a gummy, you get better absorption and consistency.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: No chalky powders are mixing, no hassle, and they focus on clean, quality,
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: Why gummies?
- 33:51[SPEAKER_01]: Because consistency is greater than perfection.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_01]: Gummies are easier, more enjoyable, and they help you stick with it.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: When I feel good, I show it for my workouts and my family and my life.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: Since we started, I've noticed study or energy less brain fog, and I just feel more grounded and my kids are getting those same daily nutrients without me nagging them.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_01]: And because you're a listener of the bomb, while I've podcasted, you get a deal.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: A really good deal, too.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_01]: Use the code, bomb life, all one word.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_01]: at checkout and save 25% off.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: Plus, if you spend $35, you get free shipping.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: If eating enough greens or dealing with potters and shakes has felt overwhelming, this is your answer.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: Make nutrition effortless with simply greens your body and your schedule will thank you.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: Back to the show!
- 34:33[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you were one of the only people that I told back like six or seven months ago when and I just started talking about this, like I haven't fully released or, I mean, I talked about that I was assaulted in several months ago and you were one of the first people that I told and like, which I still didn't even know why.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, why am I telling Nathan's right now?
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: You were probably the only guy I told to and that was such a low point for me and I was not good
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I felt like I got hit by a truck for several days and then probably even weeks because the residual stuff, but that low and like that type of depression, I have learned and grown so much from it and I hate I hate that I hate that I had to get that low and experience it, but
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: Man, when you can overcome an injury or anything like that, you just, and in the moment, it feels terrible, but the amount of just, I'm going to just call it muscle that you develop from it.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_01]: You can't get that anywhere else.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_04]: No, I'm sorry you went through that.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_04]: That was horrible.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_04]: And yeah, when you're telling me I was so worried about you.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's like frickin' terrible.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: Now everyone wants no details.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, obviously, it's like a car crash.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_04]: We want to see what happened.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, slowly, slowly talking about it.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_04]: But I mean, if you're okay, like, opening up at least one aspect of that, like, I was so glad that you were someone who had trained martial arts.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_04]: Like when you were telling me this, I was like, thank God, Melissa's been in jujitsu and understands what it's like to have someone put a hands on her.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I think that a lot about my wife and my daughter, and so like that, like, they need to know what it feels like to have someone apply, apply pressure to you, especially in a non-life threatening situation, and because like in judicial class, you get someone grabbing your neck, your throat, your whatever, yeah, 20, 30 times a class, you know, and you kind of condition yourself out of it and you've never experienced that before the amount of trauma and the amount of like paralysis you're going to go into and that movement is going to be like life altering.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_04]: And like perhaps in like in a fatal way, like if you're not prepared to deal with like a larger stronger attacker.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_04]: So I was so happy to know that like you had spent time training in that way to like protect yourself.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, it's it's so true.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like I hope every woman listening to this like consider some type of class, some type of experience with this, you know, even if you don't want to totally get into a key and like go balls to the wall like I did, but I mean,
- 37:04[SPEAKER_01]: There was one point in it where my, I had a sweatshirt on and my purse was across my body.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_01]: I had just come from, like, glass or working out or training.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: And at some point, my head was pushed down to the ground.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: How many times did that happen in class?
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I was on my butt on the ground.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_01]: And he grabbed my shirt over my head.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I was trapped.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like,
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to freak out so bad and I'm like all hunched over and then I felt my purse start getting because it was on my cross body and I felt it started getting on my neck.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: And at that moment, I think just like instinct of training came out and I knew exactly like how to drop.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: I went to my side.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: I like worked my way out of it and I came completely out of the shirt while he was trying to like grab it and I'm like, what's he trying to choke me?
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like why were like when I go back and I analyze it, I'm like, what were you going to do with that if I hadn't gotten out?
- 38:03[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_04]: And then like I think like even beyond like the knowing like the moves, it's the not freaking out part that is so critical.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like kept it together in a way.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I was still screaming and fighting for my life, but it wasn't completely you weren't like seeing red like just adrenaline dump.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_04]: You've been there before.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: So, but I just martial arts alone.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_01]: I was talking about this with a client the other day because her son is in karate.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's karate, not Taikwondo.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, he wants to quit.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: And it's always a topic of like quit and stop.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_01]: And it's tough.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm trying to explain to a lot of my clients and my followers that like with martial arts, like you just don't get that type of discipline and self respect and from any other sport.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: And we've done a lot of sports.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: and it was so important for each of my girls to at least get a black belt in something.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_01]: And then they went on to a second degree and then my oldest, it was not her thing and I wasn't gonna push it.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, but at least you have this knowledge and how cool does it look to put a black belt on your resume?
- 39:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: I would hire someone that says black belt training.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't mean care what it is.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's dedication right there.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's something about you.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm trying to just explain like, you guys, you just don't get this type of pressure and discipline and respect in anything else nowadays.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_04]: Did you compete ever in what Taekwondo?
- 39:26[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: No, that was a goal.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_01]: They were pushing me.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_04]: So in order of life experiences, here's how my life went in terms of extreme adrenaline experiences.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_04]: So when I proposed to my wife, we went skydiving.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_04]: And so I made myself, I put myself before her.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_04]: And so right before I jumped out, I was like, hey, will you marry me?
- 39:48[SPEAKER_04]: And I let her have that whole time on the way down.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my God.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_04]: And that was intense, right?
- 39:54[SPEAKER_04]: Because Scott had an intense, and then also asking someone to marry you as intense.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_04]: And then the next thing that was like, that was even scarier than that, was it when Bungie jumping in Columbia?
- 40:03[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm like, speak, I speak about little of this manager at that point, not like a lot.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_04]: So I was like, am I, what, do I just salt the key?
- 40:09[SPEAKER_04]: Or what do I do in here?
- 40:10[SPEAKER_04]: And you have to overcome all these evolutionary instincts to not jump face first at that ground right there.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_04]: Like your body doesn't want you to do that.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, bro, we don't know about this bungee thing.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_04]: So that was insane.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_04]: That next level for me, that was even more intense than skydiving.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_04]: Because skydiving is fake.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_04]: It's like you jump out and you're like, that's not even the ground, I don't know.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_04]: And then after that, doing my first stand-up comedy, so intense, palm sweating, my knees were shaking up and down.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_04]: Like this, it was like, I was like, it was wild.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, couldn't sleep that night.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_04]: It was crazy.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_04]: But all of that pale and comparison to my first gigitsu match.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_04]: I have never such an intense experience because it's it's it's one on one.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_04]: There's no team backing you up.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_04]: There's nothing else.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_04]: And that person wants to hurt you.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_04]: They want to make you unconscious.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_04]: That's crazy.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_04]: That's crazy.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_04]: And you have to fight them.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_04]: You've got to go fight them in front of your mom is watching.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_04]: Killer B. K.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so like I couldn't get my heart rate down below like 180 before the match started.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, God.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_04]: And so I finished the match.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_04]: It's in the ghee.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like gripping like death grips, right?
- 41:16[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not holding on like loose.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_04]: And so I finished the match.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like throwing up and I'm like, way to my mom.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_04]: I can't open my hands all the time.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_04]: I'm mom.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_04]: Very good.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_04]: I go into the next match and I just get destroyed.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like getting choked out in front of my mom pee my pants a little bit.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_04]: Doesn't oo oo oo oo.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_04]: That doesn't matter.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_04]: But like that was the most intense experience of my entire life.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_04]: It was the first, my first average to match.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_04]: They got, they get easier as you go, but never easy, you know?
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: No, and women are like more ruthless than men.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_01]: I would have had to have really been in a,
- 41:51[UNKNOWN]: dark.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: Give myself in the dark had space to just be like, she's not your friend killer because she's out to kill you.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, the closest I ever got was when they brought other people into to our place, other women.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I went against like different blue belts and brown belts.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I'm just.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_01]: got my ass beat.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: They just kept saying, you're so strong.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: You're so strong.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, yeah, I get that a lot of my what do I technique though?
- 42:16[SPEAKER_04]: You're strong.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_04]: It's funny when you get man like I'm 200 pounds.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_04]: Like I funny get man handled by like 140 pound dude and he's like, wow, you're really strong.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm like, you just beat me up like 15 times and I tapped out 15 times in five minutes.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_04]: I'll feel that strong, bro.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_04]: You're really strong, bro.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, thank you.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to go cry.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's so it's so humbling.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: It just
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it really is, I really do miss it.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you can get back to it.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_04]: And if you don't, no, I'm going to.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to, it takes, it'll take what it takes, but I'm going to get back to it.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_04]: I really enjoy it.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: Are you doing any infrared on it?
- 42:52[SPEAKER_04]: I actually developed a handheld infrared device.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_04]: Even before this happened, I was doing that.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_04]: So I could take it to classes and stuff like that.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_04]: Have people use it in their ankles.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_04]: I'm doing that on my low back.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_04]: I have a little handheld, like a little, like, wand.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_04]: That's a full spectrum.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_02]: Of course you do.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_02]: Of course you do.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to do a Kickstarter for it pretty soon.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_01]: Really, okay, let me know.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I feel like it's just like, it's purely related to like jujitsu just because like I wanted to have something that's not like a panel that's lugging around.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_04]: Like it happened in my fanny pack.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_04]: I love it.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_04]: I think that like the martial arts, the training, the dedication, nutrition, whatever it is, I think that the choosing of the hard thing.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_04]: is really, really critical to how our brains react to obstacles and problems in dilemmas, you know.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_04]: And I always say like my wife and I have this talk all the time, it's like choose your hard or it will be chosen for you.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_04]: Amen.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_04]: Because life is hard, life is hard, period.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_04]: You know, like you know, you're always hard, you're about people like I got cancer, like well, I got double cancer.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_04]: You know, like people will compare there.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_04]: There are things that are hard as hard period.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_04]: And for some people, sitting in traffic is hard.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 43:57[SPEAKER_04]: For some people, not having the thing on Netflix that they wanted is hard because they have nothing else in their life to compare it to.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_04]: So they're always going to find something that is hard for them.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_04]: And when you go to Jiu Jitsu or you train really hard, and you've gotten choked out 15 times in the last 90 minutes, and you drive home and someone cuts you off, you're like, baby boy, go right ahead.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_04]: I'm right here.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah, yes out.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_04]: I am zen right now so I think they're like if you are able to choose hard things just like the path of you know being a good mom or being an entrepreneur launching new products you know like having to support yourself through coaching like crazy stuff like that like then someone's like hey this is an issue and you're like not really yeah no it just gives you so much more perspective and gives you broadens your your scope a lot
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: I know and it's it's crazy because so many people right now like they're not doing anything hard like it's amazing how many people I talked to and I'll do like a discovery call or something and their life is just the same thing over and over again and there's no
- 44:56[SPEAKER_01]: like challenge or discomfort other than like oh well I have these aches and pains of life like they didn't choose a hard so life chose their hard for them you know like what we're saying but I'm constantly trying to expose my clients to like something hard and I'm like I know you guys think that I'm crazy but like this week we're all doing farmer walks do you know how many women I have doing farmer walks and they've never done it before and they're like this is it and some of them are grabbing like five and ten pounds on like you guys are so cute
- 45:24[SPEAKER_01]: No, that is not it and so I was like showing and making videos.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, I know you guys think I'm crazy.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: However, we are doing this because I'm putting you in a position of a challenge and doing something hard like we have to stress our brain and our body and people aren't it's just not happening anymore.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I talked about this the other day with someone, and they're like, I don't know if I can ever love working out.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: How do you love working out?
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, I don't love it many times.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like more often than not, like, how do I love something that causes me so much pain?
- 45:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like, how do I fall in love with that?
- 45:57[SPEAKER_01]: I love the after.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_01]: I love the challenge it puts me through.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_04]: I love who I become when I do more of it.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_04]: I love a training montage.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_04]: I'd watch that shit all the time.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_04]: I was raised.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like Rocky training montage.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_04]: How can you not get into that?
- 46:09[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 46:11[SPEAKER_01]: We're a different breed though.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I think it's just, like, things just wraps though, you know, like maybe it maybe it maybe we're built different, but also maybe it just like consistent exposure to those sorts of things.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_04]: Like they say that when you do hard things like that, your body and your brand become acclimated to it and they desire more of those things.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_04]: And I think the one of the biggest problems plaguing America right now is not this left versus right or political divide that seems to be creeping
- 46:36[SPEAKER_04]: but it's this consistent entitlement towards comfort.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that like we worship at the altar of comfort in so many ways, right?
- 46:45[SPEAKER_04]: Like thinking about just like how easy it is to door to ash and watch Netflix.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_04]: Like we would not even have to go experience anything in the world if we didn't want to.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_04]: It's easy to have everything at our fingertips.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_04]: We work from home.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_04]: We sit on our couch.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_04]: We look at the little screen.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_04]: Then we look at the medium screen.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_04]: Then we look at the big screen.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_04]: and then rinse and repeat.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_04]: So it is very, very easy to get caught up in this and we are told that this is a victim desirable.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_04]: We want the cars with the most comfortable seating, we want the couch with the deepest recliners, whatever we want.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_04]: The services with all the movie streaming possible, right?
- 47:12[SPEAKER_04]: And so we just are exposed to this message that we should desire and pursue comfort at all costs.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_04]: So in today's society where we don't have to go get water from anywhere, we don't have to choose hard when we were farmers because life was really hard.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_04]: And six of the 10 kids died from college there, cholera.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_04]: You know, like, she was difficult.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_04]: So now we actually have to go out and pursue that if we want to like facilitate and like live a life that like brings us pleasure, otherwise, like nothing will bring us pleasure because everything is so pleasurable already, you know, if you don't it's every meal, they're not that great, no, no, no they're not speaking the doughnuts and vanilla ice cream.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: I love your protein shake.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_01]: No, thank you so much.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_01]: I did want to talk about that really quick, but no, you're completely right about about the hard in it.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: I am constantly saying that to my kids of like, life is hard.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_01]: You guys, life is hard.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: And when it seems easy right now, in a minute, guess what, something is going to happen.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we're going to get a phone call about Nama and Papa, or, you know, something's going to happen with the tires on the car.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's just life.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to happen.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why we do other things so we're prepared for it.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: We're mentally prepared.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_01]: So our world isn't
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: doesn't come crashing down because we got unfortunate news 100%.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, your kids are going to be so awesome, Nate.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be as awesome as mine.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_04]: They're already pretty great.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_04]: I like them.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_04]: I like them.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_04]: They can stay.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_04]: We're doing their contract this year.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's good.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_04]: That's good.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_04]: We'll keep running.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's funny you say contracts.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_01]: I had a friend tell me one time that marriage.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_01]: You should be a contract that you choose to renew every five years.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like,
- 48:43[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that was kind of genius.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_04]: That's interesting.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_04]: And that's an interesting perspective because if you're actually having to work for it, you can't just slack off.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_04]: You can't just be like, well, got that signature.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_01]: The next thing.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I hope that was interesting.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_04]: But I think that like, I love being married.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_04]: I think it is like, it is one of the things that has brought like the most like joy and...
- 49:04[SPEAKER_04]: It's the greatest.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_04]: It's so good and like, and I feel like, like, I have this responsibility to my wife, like, who I think is an epic individual.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_04]: She'd be a much better entrepreneur than me.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_04]: She's way smarter than me.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_04]: But like, I see all these great things in her that sometimes she doesn't see in herself.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_04]: And like, I feel like it's my responsibility to like bring those out of her.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that like, if we both have that same mentality, like how could we not grow together and grow like...
- 49:27[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_04]: like, and, you know, be better together, right?
- 49:30[SPEAKER_04]: Be me, hold on to us, and so I feel like if both parties bring that same like grace and desire to see the other person succeed and just like the ability to like try to out serve each other, like that's the rest of me for a successful relationship.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_04]: At least in my experience, up to this point with the next 10 years has and like I'm sure the life will throw curve walls at us, but like I want to, I want to make sure I'm operating out of like that kind of,
- 49:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_04]: Standard.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: You're already winning.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_01]: You're already there.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to matter what curveballs life throws at you.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: You're already on that path of having a healthy relationship.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I know it probably sounds and feels weird coming from the divorce woman.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's like marriage is amazing.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_01]: When I said I do, like I meant that.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_01]: I am not girlfriend material.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm not I am like you like it.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_01]: I do.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_01]: I am a ring on it.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_01]: I want to take care of you.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_01]: I want to grow and build an empire with you and I know I don't want to be like, okay, we'll see you for a date on Friday.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like I do it.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_01]: That has been really really hard.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_01]: really hard in my life.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_01]: But I got it.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_01]: And there's nothing like being with and married to the partner and the parent of your children, either.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and when I say things like that, oh, people are like, what does that mean?
- 50:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, yeah, but I also had to know that like, when you are on this path and like if someone is thinking like you, like if your wife wasn't on the same path as you, she wasn't thinking like you, that would lead to a major problem.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_01]: And that's how it was for me.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_01]: I was the only one thinking this.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_04]: And I feel like I talked to a lot of a lot of dads who are like this or like husbands who are like this who are like well she doesn't ex she doesn't exercise she doesn't healthy she's on her phone all the time and I'm like well like okay yeah you can't expect your like your big change that you're undergoing mentally right now to just translate to her right you have to give her a reason to follow along with you.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_04]: Like, and whether or not you think that like, you know, like, it's completely equal or mentioned the household or whatever else, I think that like no matter what, if you're in a relationship, you're rubbing off another person.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_04]: And so like, it bothered me for a little bit that my wife, my wife would always look at her phone before bed.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_04]: And like, that's a little thing.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_04]: Right?
- 51:37[SPEAKER_04]: We talked about it with your daughter.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_04]: It's not a big deal.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_04]: She's an adult.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_04]: She can do whatever she wants to.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_04]: But I don't like it.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you know, we know the things that the blue light and then like, you know, you're reading stuff and you're getting riled up.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I just want her to like, be calm and sleep well, you know, like, I want the best for her.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_04]: And so I started reading at night.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_04]: And sort of like 2014 to 20, like 2019, 2020, I would read every single night in bed.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_04]: You know, six, seven years.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_04]: And then one day, she was like, you know what I'm gonna do?
- 52:04[SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna stop, look at my phone, and I'm gonna start reading before bed.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_04]: And I was like, it's a great idea.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_04]: Would you come up with that?
- 52:10[SPEAKER_04]: You know, but it took seven years of me demonstrating the action for her to like get on board with it because she saw me doing it and saw that like the benefits that brought to my life.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_04]: But I think that so many people are like I changed than the last two weeks and how come she hasn't changed like give it a minute.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_04]: You know, you need to be that change, right?
- 52:27[SPEAKER_04]: Like that's what that one smart guy said Gandhi or whatever.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_04]: Like, if you want someone else to change, if you want your mom to be to live different, if you want your sister to be different, you want your kids to be different, you gotta do it, and not just once, you gotta do it, and then keep doing it, and keep doing it, and keep doing it, kids don't hear me, I don't think, I'm telling them not to pick his nose and eat his boogers for a little bit, but they watch what you do, right?
- 52:50[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, they watch what they do, and they start mimicking your behaviors.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_04]: When I hear my words coming out of my kids' mouths, and that's not like it's not,
- 52:58[SPEAKER_04]: positive.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, god damn it.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_04]: Like huge huge mistake on my part.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_04]: That was right.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_04]: My bad dude.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_01]: And they know when it's fake, too.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like kids know your partner knows your parents know like they know when it's not really you.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_01]: And you have to be careful too.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you're someone that has started this journey and stopped and started and stopped, you're like, oh, I'm going to do this diet and get fit and they're like, oh, yeah, right.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_01]: Mom's on a kick again or my wife is doing this again.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_01]: you know, but then you really do it for real and you're like in it because I have a lot of women that are like now with me and they're like, no, work in it now.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I see that and it is, and they're changing and we're working on this for months and now into a year and I'm like, you're doing it, I'm like, you have to give your family and people in your environment time to believe you because they've seen you not follow through so many times.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_01]: And they think this is just going to be another thing and it has been, you know,
- 53:56[SPEAKER_01]: they will know if it's fake and they will know when it's real.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_01]: They will see that identity shift.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_01]: They will see when that starts happening with you.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: So give it time and patience and a lot of love.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_01]: And man, it's tough, but it is possible.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_01]: It is possible.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's possible.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_01]: You're right.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_01]: You're in your second years.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but it's just like it's going back to the same thing that we've probably preached to our clients all the time.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_04]: It's not intensity, it's consistency.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_04]: Don't tell me what you can do for a week.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_04]: Show me what you can do for 10 years.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_04]: Like that's, and if you can start outlining habits that you can have for 10 years, that's why I don't care.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_04]: I'm doing a 35, 40 minute workout.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_04]: Would I like to be doing a 90 minute workout?
- 54:31[SPEAKER_04]: Sure.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I don't have that time right now.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_04]: So what am I going to do?
- 54:34[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to keep grinding at and do the highest ROI activities.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_04]: absolutely absolutely like like where we are where what can you sustain?
- 54:42[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's like the most important the most important piece for affecting change both personally and like within your like community.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: Before we go can we talk about million dollar body labs?
- 54:54[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I'd love to.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_01]: most of my clients are like on your stuff.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm so glad you have creatine now, too.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_01]: When you started, you didn't have that.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_01]: What's your favorite?
- 55:04[SPEAKER_04]: No, that was a new one.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_01]: Tell me what your favorite is.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_04]: I've been loving the MDB pump, the pre-workout.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_04]: I think a pre-workout is like a superb, like not, like, it's like a non-essential supplement, right?
- 55:14[SPEAKER_04]: I take creatine every day.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_04]: Take protein every day.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_04]: I'm taking magnesium every day, but I just love taking a free workout because I get all Amped up.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_04]: I feel really good.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_04]: It's also I can take it in the afternoon and train at four o'clock without, like, overloading my nervous system and I can still sleep well.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_04]: So I mean, I love in that.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_04]: Plus it tastes bomb that pineapple flavor.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it is so good and I don't have trouble sleeping like if I take it later in the afternoon I don't have trouble like coming down by nine ten o'clock at night when I go to bed If I do it early enough I and I've had I've had issues with that before It's like stuff like stuck in my system I don't have to let you get it out or word more and I don't have that issue with yours
- 55:51[SPEAKER_04]: Well, people also don't understand like with a heavy stem pre-workouts, is that creating is a vasoconstrictor.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_04]: Creating or I'm like caffeine will give you limited blood flow.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_04]: So like, yeah, you might get a boost of energy, but you're limiting the blood flow to the muscles that are actually producing the force for your exercises.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_04]: So by not having caffeine in there, you get more blood flow, which is also sometimes why you feel like doing this a little bit.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_04]: You could get more blood flow to your capillaries and everything else.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_04]: But I just refrained that as like as a fitness energy.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_04]: Right, right, but tell me what your shake.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_04]: So like I got the vanilla protein are the vanilla ice conflavor.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_04]: How do you make your shake?
- 56:27[SPEAKER_04]: What's in your recipe?
- 56:28[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_01]: I have one of those.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_01]: They're um, I don't have a mini ninja.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_01]: They sell them at Costco and they're too hot.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen it?
- 56:35[SPEAKER_01]: And the like the base of it is the blender.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's been a game changer.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_01]: So I do one two tablespoons of fit peanut butter.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_04]: And then I got the the powdered peanut butter.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and I wasn't sure how I'd like it with the vanilla and like the whole ice cream thing.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's amazing.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's bomb vanilla peanut butter is amazing flavor it really is and I was like not sure how I was going to like that and then I do a pinch of bahas salt in it too.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_01]: Genius, I don't know what it is, but I can taste it, but it's not too much, but enough and I'm you know getting the salt in there.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_04]: Where did you get that from?
- 57:08[SPEAKER_04]: Because I've been doing that for a couple years now and that is that is a like that's a shake hack.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_04]: Where did you get that from?
- 57:14[SPEAKER_04]: Amazon.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no, not the salt, the idea to do it.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, someone had told me I learned about the Baja salt from the told me to take it every morning.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was a guy that was talking about micro dosing.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_01]: It was like at a pinch of this and I'm like, oh, I had to water and I'm like, oh,
- 57:31[SPEAKER_01]: I shake because like salt and caramel is good and I'm like, why would vanilla and peanut butter not be good with salt too?
- 57:40[SPEAKER_04]: It's so good.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I also I love getting a little electrolytes in the morning.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_04]: It's perfect.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_04]: What else do you have anything else?
- 57:46[SPEAKER_01]: I do college and
- 57:47[SPEAKER_01]: I put Bob's college in in it and my MCT and I do not like the flavor of those like I know there's supposed to be flavorless but I can taste it I can taste everything they started night the on me and I'm like I can taste that and they're like yeah I can taste it about my throat like I can taste it I can taste everything.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_01]: but for some reason when I do that with the shake and maybe it's just the PB2, I don't know, I don't taste it at all so I've no problem getting those two things in and then I do like a half a cup of ice.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like it too thick and I don't like it too watery and then I just push that little button at the bottom, zip it and I go.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I've been doing my shake every day within about 30 minutes of waking up.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_01]: Are you still like, wait, and I would fast more.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_01]: And then honestly, it all changed when things happened with my life.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, I don't need to fast right now.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_01]: I need to fuel my body.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_01]: I need to put muscle and weight on.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't need to be worrying about fasting right now.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_01]: That will be there when I'm ready for it.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I lived off your shakes for a while.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_04]: Hell yeah.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_04]: Have you tried the new strawberry essential aminoce?
- 58:50[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, haven't yet.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_04]: So the fasting is awesome.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_04]: That's the branch chain.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I spent a lot of time on.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_04]: I got that really special type of losing that doesn't raise your blood sugar at all.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I take right now.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_01]: I put that in my electrolytes.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_04]: perfect.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_04]: So I use that anytime I'm like, we're going to an anti stomach or if I want to prioritize fasting or if I'm doing a longer fast, I'll use a fast aid.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_04]: I've been taking the essential amino acids, the strawberry, strawberry blast once, like in the PM, especially on days when I'm like, I need a little bit more recovery.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't know why, but I find that like, I mean, it's still zero calories.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_04]: It does give you a little bit of insulin response, so it's, but it's not a big deal.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_04]: But so like it will break your fast momentarily, but I also don't think that's the
- 59:27[SPEAKER_04]: But I take it a night and I feel way better when I wake up.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like I am less sore.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_04]: You know what you've done legs like two days ago and you kind of got that like just like an ache?
- 59:36[SPEAKER_04]: It's not like soreness soreness but you're like, I just feel a little bit tight.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_04]: I think it kills that a lot.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_04]: So if I'm ever like, especially if I'm like, coming on a plane, been sitting a lot or like was walking around to 30,000 steps, taking that the essential amino's before bed has really helped my recovery process.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay, okay, I like having something before bad weather to drink like a real icy drink.
