• 0:55
Jack: almost like SEO has become this hidden VIP.

  Jill: Exactly.
• 1:51
Jill: Now, speaking of wowing the audience, that brings us to another key point highlighted in several sources.
• 1:57
  Jack: Okay.
• 1:58
Jill: Including those from LittleFox's marketing.
• 2:01
Jack: The importance of creating delightful user experiences.
• 2:04
  Jill: Delightful.
• 2:05
Jack: Particularly on critical pages like Visit admission, and even tuition pages.
• 2:11
Jill: See, those aren't exactly topics known for their delightfulness, are they?
• 2:15
  Jill: Right.
• 2:15
  Jill: It sounds almost counterintuitive.
• 2:17
Jill: How do you make something like a tuition page delightful?

Jack: It's a challenge, no doubt.
• 2:21
  Jill: Yeah.

• 2:46
Jack: That's the kind of experience that can turn a potentially stressful process into something clear and manageable.
• 2:52
  Jill: Okay.
• 2:53
Jill: So, we've got a solid foundation with SEO and we're aiming for a delightful user experience.
• 2:58
  Jill: Right.
• 2:59
Jill: But there's another player in this game that we can't ignore.
• 3:01
  Jack: Yes.
• 3:02
  Jill: AI.
• 3:02
Jack: The Search Influence webinar specifically mentions Google's AI generated summaries.
• 3:08
  Jill: Yes.
• 3:08
  Jill: The
• 3:09
  Jack: AI overviews.
• 3:10
  Jill: Right.

  Jill: And
• 3:10
Jack: how they're changing the search game.

  Jill: I've seen
• 3:13
  Jack: those.
• 3:13
  Jill: Yeah.

• 3:13
  Jill: Yeah.
• 3:14
Jack: They often dominate the search results page, pushing down even the most optimized organic listings.
• 3:20
Jill: Exactly, and this is where things get really interesting from an SEO perspective.
• 3:24
  Jill: Okay.
• 3:25
Jill: Institutions need to understand how to optimize for AI search to maintain visibility in this new landscape.
• 3:31
  Jill: Okay.
• 3:32
Jill: This might mean focusing on Commercial and transactional keywords, evaluating keyword competition more strategically and really aligning content with search intent to increase the chances of being featured in those AI overviews.
• 3:47
Jack: So it's almost like playing a game where the rules are constantly changing.
• 3:50
  Jill: Yeah.
• 3:51
Jack: You have to be one step ahead anticipating the next move or you risk getting left behind.
• 3:57

• 4:20
  Jill: It's a valid concern.
• 4:22
Jill: The webinar suggests a few ways institutions can adapt.
• 4:25
Jill: One is prioritizing first party data.
• 4:28
Jill: That valuable information collected directly from prospective students through website interactions, forms, and applications.
• 4:35
Jill: This data can be used to create custom audiences for retargeting and lookalike audiences to expand reach.
• 4:43
  Jill: Okay.
• 4:43
Jill: Think of it as building your own internal compass.
• 4:47
  Jill: Oh.
• 4:47
Jill: One that's even more precise and reliable.
• 4:50
  Jill: Oh, yeah.
• 4:50
Jill: Because it's based on direct interactions with your target audience.
• 4:53
  Jack: Makes sense.
• 4:53
  Jack: Yeah.
• 4:54
Jack: So we're adapting to the world of AI driven search.

  Jill: Uh huh.
• 4:58
Jack: Navigating the Cookie less wilderness and building our own internal compasses.
• 5:03
  Jack: Yes.

Jack: But what about the actual content itself?
• 5:05
  Jack: Yeah.
• 5:06
Jack: Where does social media fit into all of this?

• 5:28
Jill: This opens up a whole new avenue for institutions to reach prospective students.
• 5:33
  Jill: Okay.
• 5:33
Jill: It's about being present where they're already engaging in searching.
• 5:36
Jack: So if a student is scrolling through TikTok or searching within a specific app.
• 5:41
  Jill: Yeah.
• 5:42
Jack: Their social media activity can actually influence.
• 5:45
Jack: What shows up in their Google search results.
• 5:47
  Jack: That's right.
• 5:48
  Jack: That's incredible.
• 5:49
  Jill: Yeah.
• 5:49

• 6:44
  Jill: Instead of shouting
• 6:45
Jack: your message from the rooftops, you're joining the conversation already happening at the grassroots level.
• 6:51
  Jill: Precisely.
• 6:51
Jill: It's about being part of the community, offering value, and establishing thought leadership

• 10:27
Jill: The Australian model is much more student centric in that sense.
• 10:31
Jill: It puts the power of choice in the hands of the learner.

• 13:02
  Jill: That's right.

Jill: It's about being part of the conversation, providing value and establishing thought leadership in a space where students are already actively seeking information and engaging with their peers.

Jill: The key, of course, is to avoid being overly promotional or smammy.
• 13:44
Jill: It's about building genuine relationships and fostering a sense of community.
• 13:48
Jack: It's about being a helpful resource rather than a pushy salesperson.
• 13:52
Jack: So much of what we've discussed today revolves around this idea of shifting from a broadcast model of marketing to a more conversational and engaging approach.
• 14:01
Jack: It's about meeting students where they are understanding their needs and providing real value.
• 14:07
Jill: That's the essence of effective marketing in today's world.

Jill: And in the final part of our deep dive, we'll explore how this philosophy is being applied to create delightful user experiences, leverage thought leadership, and tap into the power of platforms like LinkedIn to connect with prospective students on a deeper level.
• 14:25
Jack: Welcome back to our deep dive into higher education marketing.
• 14:28
Jill: It's great to be back.
• 14:29
Jack: As marketers ourselves, I think we can both agree that the strategies we've uncovered so far are pretty impressive.
• 14:34
  Jill: Yeah, for sure.
• 14:35
Jack: But in this final part, let's, uh, focus on some of those nuanced approaches institutions are using to really stand out.
• 14:41
  Jill: Okay.
• 14:41
Jack: And connect with prospective students on a personal level.
• 14:43
  Jack: Sounds good.
• 14:44
Jack: Earlier we talked about creating delightful user experiences.
• 14:48
Jack: It's not a phrase you typically hear in the context of college applications or financial aid information.
• 14:54
  Jack: Yeah,
• 14:54
Jill: you don't often see those two things together, but that's exactly why it's so important, as LittleFox's marketing points out.
• 15:01
Jill: By focusing on UX, even traditionally dry topics can become engaging and approachable.
• 15:08
Jill: It's about shifting the perception from chore to choice.
• 15:12
Jack: They had some specific examples in their materials, right?
• 15:15
  Jack: Yes, they
• 15:15
  Jill: did.
• 15:15
Jack: Like, uh, how to create a truly engaging visit page.
• 15:20
  Jill: Right.
• 15:20
Jack: Or guide someone through the admissions process in a way that doesn't make them want to pull their hair out.
• 15:25
  Jill: Absolutely for visit pages.
• 15:26
  Jill: Okay.

• 15:30
  Jill: Okay.
• 15:30
Jill: Clear messaging and intuitive navigation.
• 15:33
  Jill: Right.
• 15:34
Jill: Think about it from a student's perspective.
• 15:35
  Jill: Right.
• 15:36
Jill: They're trying to imagine themselves on campus experiencing student life.
• 15:40
  Jill: Yeah.
• 15:40
Jill: High quality photos and videos that showcase the campus vibe.
• 15:44
  Jill: Uh huh.
• 15:44
  Jill: Testimonials from current students.
• 15:46
  Jill: And.
• 15:47
Jill: An easy way to schedule a tour can make all the difference.
• 15:50
  Jill: Yeah.
• 15:50
Jill: It's about selling the experience, not just listing facts and figures.
• 15:54
Jack: It's like the difference between reading a travel brochure.
• 15:56
  Jill: Yes.
• 15:57
Jack: And actually watching a travel vlog.
• 15:59
  Jill: Exactly.
• 16:00
Jack: One engages your senses and emotions while the other just gives you information.
• 16:03
Jill: Right, and when it comes to admissions pages, transparency and clarity are key.
• 16:09
Jill: No one wants to feel lost or overwhelmed during the application process.
• 16:14
Jill: Breaking down the steps into a clear and concise format, using visual cues like icons or checklists, and having a robust FAQ section to address common concerns can significantly improve the user experience.
• 16:29
Jack: It's about taking a potentially stressful and confusing process and making it feel manageable and even, dare I say, enjoyable.
• 16:39
  Jill: That's the goal.
• 16:39
Jack: Okay, so we're creating delightful experiences on our website.
• 16:42
  Jack: Mm hmm.
• 16:42
Jack: But how do we get those prospective students there in the first place?
• 16:45
  Jack: Right.
• 16:46
Jack: Several sources mentioned leveraging thought leadership.
• 16:49
  Jack: As a powerful strategy.

  Jill: It is.
• 16:51
  Jill: Thought
• 16:51
Jack: leadership is all about positioning your institution.
• 16:54
  Jack: Right.
• 16:54
Jack: As a trusted source of knowledge and expertise.
• 16:57
  Jill: Exactly.
• 16:57
Jack: Carnegie Dartlet has a great piece on using LinkedIn thought leader ads in higher education marketing.
• 17:03
  Jill: I've seen that.
• 17:04
Jack: Instead of just talking about how great your programs are.
• 17:06
Jack: You let your experts do the talking.
• 17:09
Jack: So it's about letting your faculty alumni Mm
• 17:13
  Jill: hmm.
• 17:13
Jack: and other thought leaders showcase their expertise and insights.
• 17:17
  Jill: Yes.
• 17:18
Jack: Almost like giving them a platform to share their passions and perspectives with the world.
• 17:22
Jill: It's a much more authentic and engaging way to connect with prospective students.
• 17:27
  Jack: Okay.
• 17:27
Jill: Because people are more likely to trust information coming from a recognized expert in the field.
• 17:32
  Jill: Yeah.
• 17:33
  Jill: Think about it.
• 17:33
Jill: Would you rather hear about a groundbreaking research project from a marketing brochure or from the professor who actually led this study?
• 17:42
Jack: The article suggested using these Thought Leader ads to highlight things like faculty research, student success stories, and alumni achievements.
• 17:51
Jack: It's about demonstrating the value and impact of your institution through real world examples and personal stories.
• 17:57
