- 1:06SPEAKER_01: I am so excited today, guys.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: I've got a really great guest that I'm honored to be on, Meg Kors.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: You love the intro.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: I told you what this whole conversation is about.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: Two girls sitting together, talking all things nutrition, health, wellness, a little woo-woo.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: How Meg, we call her Meg because there's a lot of Megans and other people in our loop family, and how we got together.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: And so no further ado, welcome Meg to the Loop We podcast.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: Jackie, get over here.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Come on, Jackie.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Let's go.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: You're welcome.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: This is fun, your first podcast.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I feel like a little baby doing that.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: You know, how does it get here?
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: I was thinking when we were talking earlier, um, how many of my guests that are part of the Loop family have never been on a podcast?
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: And it's so fun because I like to not only allow you to do this, but also just really share your journey and your story.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: So, talking about having that question of like, how did I end up here?
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Why don't you share with our listeners a little bit of kind of how we ended up, you know, you you're a nutritionist at Loop, and we'll talk all about that, guys.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: We'll get really into what Meg does um at Loop Health, but why don't you just tell your story?
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Okay, so a few years ago, actually a lot of years ago, um I was having a lot of gut health issues, gut health issues.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: And kind of like a lot of other girls, I had a eating disorder and body dysmorphia.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: So that really pegged my interest for nutrition and what I was feeding my body.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: And that after a while, I realized I really loved studying nutrition, and then I was starting to help other people, family, and friends.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: So I decided to become a um certified nutrition and macro coach.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: And so what would be what if someone doesn't know what a certified nutrition macro coach is?
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: How would you describe it?
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Especially the macro piece.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: So macros are the um micro or the macronutrients that your body um absorbs through food.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: So protein, carbs, and fat.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: And depending on the um makeup of what you eat will depict your body composition.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: It affects your energy, your hormones, and um so many other things that we can go into.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: But um I really help guide people on what a healthy plate and a healthy diet actually is.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: A diet, a lot of people think of, oh, I'm on a diet.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: That a diet is just simply how you eat.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: So if someone is eating um high protein, that will help build muscle and change your body composition.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Or if someone else is gluten or dairy-free, that is their diet.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: I really help build a healthy lifestyle that is revolved around whole foods, protein, but also the mind aspect is what I really love helping my clients with because you cannot just feed your body all these healthy foods and still have a negative mindset.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: And so I really kind of feel like I've heard you talk about that so many times on the loop way that it is a mind, body, soul and experience.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: And I really connected with you guys on that.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: And so I try to coach my my clients that that's great if you're eating, you know, all these veggies and fruits, but at the same time, if you're not prioritizing sleep and movement and stress and family time, you're not gonna be operating at your best.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: And it yeah, it's it's so true.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: And I'm now on TikTok, which is hilarious, guys, because I can't be on Instagram.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: And so I'm I was like just on there because I enjoyed the long, the longer content because I literally can't even get a burner account on Instagram.
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: Kiss me off.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: So I'm you know, so I was on there kind of like learning, and and all of a sudden like, why am I not posting?
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: So I started posting, and it's such a different platform than Instagram, but I think as well, and this is kind of something we'll dive more in today, is that like maybe it just comes with age, knowledge, working with someone like you, understanding your macros, what things are, is that there is a culture that is so overly intense about everything.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: And I talk about it on here, and I actually am talking about it a lot on TikTok as well right now.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: It's just like as a 51-year-old woman, what I've learned is like you want to live a balanced life.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Like life is to be lived, right?
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: Because I think 100% probably through your story, and I have a similar one of just going through a time when I had an eating disorder in high school.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: I was really young.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: And I actually went to my parents and said, I'm not okay.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: And I went through a lot of therapy to figure out why, you know, I had such a need of control over my body.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: And a lot of it because I was going through puberty and changing and I didn't know and I wasn't educated.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: We talk about these things.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: But I think it's such a fine line between being overconsumed, right?
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: Being obsessed, being overconsumed with, I think is it called orthorexia or it's called something along those lines when you're just obsessed with clean eating, orthorexia.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: Yes, and where it's like, God forbid.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: So tell me a little bit about how you got through your journey from like body dysormorphia, becoming a nutritionist, working with macros, looking, working with clients, I'm sure healed you as well.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: So mine actually started in college, and it was just coming from I have a great family.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm still very close with them.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Um, I just felt like I didn't have a lot of my own say.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: So very rigid, um, kind of upbringing.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: I love my family.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: But um I didn't really know how to think for myself.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: So I felt like I didn't have control.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: So when I got to college, um, a friend made a comment about how I gained the freshman 15.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: For some reason, I remember that being the tipping point.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: You just one comment.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: One comment and off I went.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: And it um I really cannot I can really say that not until probably a year to two years ago is really when I feel like I'm really removed from that.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: I don't feel like you will ever fully get over it.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: But um I feel like I'm at a very healthy place right now, a balance.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: And I had such control over my food and my body.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: And with that, I don't know if it was stress, started um my gut my gut issues.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: And um food intolerances and allergies started popping up out of the blue almost, because I remember eating eggs when I was little, and then all of a sudden I'm allergic to eggs, beef, and peas.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Very three random things.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: But I wasn't really tolerating any food.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: And my body was very inflamed from stress, too much working out, not fueling it enough.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: And um I felt very lost for a lot of years.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: So I was very concerned about what I was eating because I didn't, I didn't feel good.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: So I'm like, well, if I'm eating salads and all of this and I feel crappy, what is a cheeseburger gonna make me feel?
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: Um, so a little bit of that orthorexia.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Um, but as I started studying nutrition more and more and learning how to count macros, that I was actually really underfueling, which I feel like is can be just as bad as overfueling.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: And I started eating more and not just anything that people are like, oh, I have this many macros.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna fill it with Pop Tarts and processed foods.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: That is not exactly what that tool is for.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Um, I started really fueling myself with whole ingredients and um protein, lean protein.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: And I started to see my energy level shift.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: And the inflammation was kind of coming down a little bit.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: And I was like, okay, I'm on to something here.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: So then um I really started to think about how I can help others because fans and friends and family were coming to me and asking me for advice and tips, and um with my culinary school background, I kind of started be like, I can combine these two.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: And so I was talking to my husband, I was like, I'm gonna become a nutrition and macro coach.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: And I did that about two and a half years ago.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, the timing was not great for me to launch my program.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: So I kind of just sat on it.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: And over this past year, I've really done a lot of deep diving and therapy and really untangling, kind of like you, the need for control.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: And that was what really kind of led me into peptides.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Um, I have something called or I did mast cell activation syndrome, MCAS.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: And I was realizing I was dealing with histamine reactions to eggs, to stress.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: I would get very inflamed at anything.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: And so the thought of being stressed freaked me out.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: And a lot of people have what you have.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: I mean, MCAS are very, very common with my clients.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Yes, and I've never heard of it until like a year ago.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: And one of the suggestions was actually trisepatide.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: And I was like, huh.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: And that was really kind of probably around the same time you launched your business.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: It was like peptides were not talked about.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: And so I studied them for a long time and I finally ordered trisepatide, and slowly the inflammation, the inflammation started going down, and I was like, I started to feel alive again.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: And so um, doing some research just online, I landed on the loop way.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: And I was like, this is the first place that I felt empowered.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: I was like, they are giving information, they're not gatekeeping, they're telling you protocols.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: I felt very safe to dive more into them.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: And so um then over this past year, like I said, I was kind of lost on what I wanted to do.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: I was like, I really want to help people.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: I love raising my kids.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: I'm so fortunate I've been able to stay home with them.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: But I felt kind of lost.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: And so I was talking with a girlfriend one day and I was like, I don't know what I'm doing with my life.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: And she's like, just message Stephanie.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: And I was like, okay, finally with her on the phone.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: I in I Instagram messaged you and you got right back to me.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: And I remember standing in my kitchen, I was like, oh my gosh, you already messaged me back.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I just asked you to be a coach, and now she wants to talk about nutrition.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh my gosh, I never saw this coming.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: And it was just such a like full circle moment that I felt like I kind of manifested all this, and this is kind of where that woo-woo with all of us kind of comes in.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: And that makes me actually kind of tear up because so much of my company is woo-woo.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: And it's like, and it's we say, especially our team, is like everyone's here for a reason.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: And even when I the reason I get like teary-eyed is that I try to message everyone back, but it was one of those times too where it's like it was such the right place because there's a lot of people who asked to be a coach, and a lot of people ask for about you know what they can offer and stuff.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: And it was just this like, I saw you.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: I don't, it was one of those, you know.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: Remember where we had the conversation on the phone, you know, kind of, hey, what could this look like?
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: This is what we're about to build.
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: And, you know, what I love about the coaches that we have put together is everyone is has a little specialty, right?
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: And a lot of them are coming to Newport Beach this weekend, which will be really fun to get together.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: So excited to meet everyone.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: And your specialty, I love that you had the culinary background because you're not gonna just put out BS recipes on our app, but you know, recipes that are actually really good and they taste good and they're macro friendly, you understand them, and then also someone that can really explain what macros are to any of our members, our clients, because you know, for me on a call, I don't have a ton of time to deal with that.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: And I do I do some of the nutrition stuff, but I make it very clear like what I eat, and that's why I don't do what I eat in a day when I am on Instagram, because what I eat is not necessarily what you should eat or what I want to say to anybody, and you know, versus that Mike, I'm a 51-year-old woman and I my hormones are a certain place, I do take peptides, I exercise responsibly, and my diet will be different than yours.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: I can inspire you on things, but what I eat in a day is not going to be what you eat in a day.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: So I feel a little irresponsible ever doing those things.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: So I thought, gosh, it'd be so great because I know what's really worked for me to have someone like you on that if somebody's really interested.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: If, guys, if you're interested in understanding your macros, and really what Meg is saying is really true, it's not understanding them so you're all of a sudden gonna eat way less.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: You're probably gonna see a lot of us on GLPs, you're eating too little.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: So by the time your hair is falling out, by the way, that means you're eating too little for months.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: Like that is stress on your body as you all.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: You're not fueling yourself enough, so your body is shutting down other processes to keep you alive.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: Yes, it doesn't eat hair, but it needs your liver and it needs your heart and it needs your you know blood flow and all the other things.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: So I think that and on the opposite side, what I've learned when I did it, um, like you for you don't realize how much calories are in dressings or how many calories are in things that you think are really healthy or you're allergic to, right?
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: And so I think really looking under the hood of what who are you as an individual.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: So I think just as much as peptides are an individual journey, so is macros, which I'm sure you can elaborate on with your clients.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: And that's macros, like you've always said, is just a tool in the toolbox.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: I don't think not everyone needs to track them long term.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: A couple of my clients, I'm like, hey, let's just track for a week or two.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Let's just see where you're at, where are you landing?
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: And a lot of women especially are probably underfueling.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: And I track pretty loosely.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: I enjoy it.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: I've been doing it for years.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: Because you can intuitively do it now.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: It's very intuitive.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: It's just part of my day.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: And also for me, that gives me room at night to have a treat and not feel like not that I would feel bad.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: I don't feel I don't ever label food as good or bad, but it ensures that I'm eating enough to fuel my life.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: I'm very busy.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: I work out every day, I walk every day, I'm chasing my kids around.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: And my appetite's just not always there.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: So this is a way to ensure that, hey, I am fueling my body enough.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: And I think that can be very enlightening for a lot of people.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: Gosh, knowledge is power.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, I was just talking about with money.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: You know, it's the same thing.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: It's like understanding your finances.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: And I've just gone really head deep into my business.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: I was so scared to, but once you understand, it's all currency.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: And I feel like calories are kind of the same way.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: One thing I do love and I try to talk a lot about is the freedom when you utilize all these tools together, the freedom you have to not live in such a constrained box when it comes to food and food noise.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: And I've got so many clients, and I've been there before where they'll go on vacation for no more than three days because then they're like, I'm out of control.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: This isn't fun.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: And it has a lot to do with food, right?
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna get fat and I'm gonna blow up.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: And, you know, and I've got a lot of older clients who you would think would have gone through that, and they're like, What I would do right now to go to a restaurant and just really order what I want.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: You know, how many times do we sit there and you're like, I really want the egg parm, but I'm gonna get the Caesar salad with chicken and oat dressing.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: Okay, come on.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's a time and a place for that, but then there's, you know, especially when you're traveling and you're on vacation and you want to try the foods of the region, or you're out with girlfriends and you're you want to split stuff, and you're not sitting here being like, no, I can't split that because I mean it's just I'm not knocking anybody.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: I just think I know you there's a way to not live that way.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: 100%.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: And I think that's where the macros can give you that freedom of letting letting you loosen the reins a little bit and to realize, I think, actually how much you can eat.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: And then when you have a foundation that is solid even 80% of the time, yeah, you build that metabolically safe body that you can go out to dinner, you can go on vacation, and your body's gonna go back to homeostasis.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: Oh, and actually sometimes likes that.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: You know, when I we talk about this on our walk today, yes, when I go on vacation and really fuel myself, and I'm saying, like, I was in Montana, guys, and we are eating the girls can we were eating French fries like every meal, and it was so much meat, like the buffet, because we were on Montana, it was a girls' retreat.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm eating ribs and we're, you know, we're walking a little bit, but barely working out.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: And I know because of how much muscle I have, and I know from my lifestyle that I will come back and be fine.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: In fact, like I probably lost weight on the trip just because I'm not stressed out, I'm laughing, I'm enjoying myself, and that's I think I would love that gift for everyone.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: And that's what bringing you on board because a lot of our coaches, guys, I like to partner, you know, and so I will start bringing you on with some of my clients, saying, like, let's help you live outside of the box and trust your body again.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: And I think peptides aren't the magic bullet, but I do think peptides done with walking and lifting, kind of other things you're already doing, let your body heal, works with your insulin resistance.
- 17:54SPEAKER_01: So you don't have these moments of like, how did I gain 10 pounds when I went on a trip?
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: If you're metabolically sound, like you had said, you won't, if you're not, if you're starving yourself, guys, I'm telling you this, and you do go and go hog wild for 10 days, you know, your body's gonna say, Thank God you're feeding me.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna hold on to every single thing that you did.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: But if it's just in flow, it should be like this.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: I mean, who wants to eat clean and healthy?
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: Bro, that's why you talk about these like some of these influencers.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: I'm like, knock it off.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: I've done that for so long, and I feel like I had such it was hard for me with the food allergies, with the leak gut that I've had for 15 years.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: It was really hard to trust my body.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: Think, but because of peptides, I'm finally letting the reins out a little bit.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: Like I went to the Chief's home opener a few weeks or like a few weeks ago, and I got chicken fingers.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: There was nothing else for me to eat.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: But not only did I allow myself, I just gave in and I was like, you know what?
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: Let's test it out.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, these sound great.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: I haven't ordered chicken fingers probably since I was little, and I felt amazing after.
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: And it was such a good peace of mind to know that I can go out and have bright food and I'll feel great.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: And like you're not doing it every day.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: No, and life will go on.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: And and I think too, if you have that mindset that you're like, I'm gonna gain all this weight that you do bench, I feel like that is a bigger picture that we we can untangle together.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: Uh being, okay, what is the fear telling you?
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: You really have to dive in.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: And that's what I've done in therapy um for so many years is usually if there's anxiety or a fear, it's something that you're battling and you're gonna keep pushing down until you really tackle it head on.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: God's gonna keep giving you that message in a different format until you learned a lesson.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: And so allowing peptides to come in as another tool in my toolbox has allowed me to, I feel like, fully heal.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: And with KPVA and TA1, I mean that combination for anyone who has leaky gut, any gut issues.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, I had candida and it's not they say like it could not heal candida.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: I did nothing, I didn't change my diet.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: When I got diagnosed with candida, this was like a year and a half ago.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: It was right before Christmas, and I'm like, well, I'm not going to not enjoy the holidays.
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: I will deal with it, you know, and it ended up being March, and I just retested again.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: I did really all the peptides for my gut issue, retested again before I went on any protocols, and there was no sign of candida.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm not gonna say it was the peptides all, but I mean, I don't know what else it could have been, but I do think the ability to heal our gut, and I think in healing our gut, everything works better, right?
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: And then you feel better.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: So how much is your husband loved going out to dinner with you?
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: He was now he was so proud of me the other night when he was like, Oh my gosh, you're getting chicken fingers.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Yes, coming from a girl who used to bring snacks to events because I was so afraid to eat because of how it make me feel.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: And now having KPV and hopefully getting same similar stories, you SIBO.
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: I'm excited to retoss in a few months.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: But the fact that I can go out and have a glass of wine now and not react and not let the noise be too loud and just enjoy myself because the stress that you put on yourself is gonna be far worse than the French fries.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: Or the one glass of wine, as long as you're not going crazy.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: When you go crazy, you're not gonna feel good.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: No, I also feel like, you know, part of loop that I've really tried hard is like, and especially on this platform of the podcast, is create a safe space, right?
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: It's hard to talk about having body dysmorphia, or it's hard to talk about having an e disorder, eating disorder.
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: There's like shame behind it, right?
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: There's like, how did I end up here?
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: Like, why wasn't I strong enough?
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: And it sometimes it's that one comment, right?
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: I mean, mine was from my dad.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: Bless his heart.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: I was going through puberty, I went away, I came back, I'd gained 10 pounds, and he was surprised.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: Not his fault, but did it send me like I didn't know anything was wrong with my body?
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: And then I was like, Yep, something wrong, is something wrong with me?
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: And those things live with you.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: And so I do think it's important that we're constantly working on ourselves to.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Like, how do we want to live our best life?
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: And it's not in a box.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: No, because I it was the same kind of thing.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: My mom made a comment that was not the one that tipped me over the edge, but it was around the same time.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: And I think the more I was in therapy untangling everything, and even the past year realizing how much of a box I did live in.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: And so I was afraid to step out on my own and be have full confidence in myself.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: And then over the last year of gaining confidence, I was like, I can totally go off and do something.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: And look at you.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: You're on this podcast.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: I know I reached out.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: And now I'm in Newport doing my own like new adventure.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: It's wild.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: My kids are so proud of me.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: My son is, he's like, Mom, are you gonna coach me?
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Can I be one of your first clients?
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: And so he's such a tender heart, like Aiden.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: And so I mean, I can't wait to meet him.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: You know, they say as a parent, it's not what you do, it's they watch you, right?
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: So it's not what you sorry, it's not what you say, it's what you do, and they're watching you.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: And I've told this story.
- 23:03SPEAKER_01: My kids were so cringe at me.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: Like when I first got into social media, they were like, all my friends follow you.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: What are you doing?
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: You're so weird.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: What are you doing?
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: And at that time I didn't really even know what I was doing.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: Same thing.
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: Now they're so proud of me.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: And I told them a story about last night when I was out, and I was so excited to meet um this woman, and she's putting on this really cool founders thing.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: And so I was like, Hey, before I leave, I want to make sure I meet her.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: And I go up to her and she's like, I know you.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: How do I know you?
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: And she's like, Oh, I listened to the loop podcast.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: And I was like, What?
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: And it just shows you getting yourself out there in no matter what, making that text message, right?
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: Going out and talking to the person next to you at the bar or in your workout class or whatever it is, and just saying, like, life can be so big.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: And I think we live behind screens as moms.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: We have so much stuff that's thrown on us that to do something for ourselves, right?
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: You talked about earlier offline, as mothers, like us taking that dynamic shift and changing it.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: So if you go to work, what does that mean for your husband?
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: What does that mean for your kids?
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: Like everyone has to change with you changing, but also like you getting to be so vibrant and showing your children that, hey, you can be a mom and you know, they the two can live at this in the same place.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: It's not like and or it's like you can be a monk and you get to go and do something for yourself.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: Yes, and that's where I feel like this divine timing has kind of come in is when I found the loop way, I really just I dove deep into your podcast.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: I'm not lying, like I binged all of them.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: People say that, which is really funny.
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: They go, when I get it, I they binge it.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: I binged it and I loved it.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: I was listening to my walks every day, and that was like, I was like, I'm gonna reach out.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: And I was while yes, being home with my children really did fulfill a part of me, I just felt like there was something missing.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: And talking with my husband, I mean, we've talked about it countless times.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: He's like, that's I'm all I'm gonna support you if you choose to go do something, but you have to realize the dynamic change that just made me feel bad, you know.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: Growing up, people pleaser, and I was like, our life is already stressful.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: I I don't know what that's gonna do to us.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: And I felt really at a loss.
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: Like it was a no-win situation to me.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: But you're like, but I'm dying.
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: But I did feel feel like I was losing myself, and so this is such a perfect spot for me to be in, is I get to do it.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: Feel so fulfilled.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: I feel like this is just the missing piece was coming into the loop way.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: And so, and and listening to your podcast and the way that you put yourself out there through your divorce and finding yourself and trusting yourself was a huge confidence boost for me.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: Being like, I can do this.
- 25:44unknown: Yes.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: And so I just have to thank you that I really do kind of feel like I'm here because of you.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: And yourself, you're welcome.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: And nothing happens by accident, right?
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: So I think that I think everything we talked about this on We Walked this morning, which was so nice, is everything happens in divine time.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: And I don't care what religion you are or if you believe in God or the universe, but I think the act of surrendering to whatever's meant for me is gonna happen.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: 100% and I've got to make things happen in the same in the same sense, you know.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: Yes, I've I've been talking to my son about that.
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: His faith has really kind of boomed lately, and we were very open to talking about it.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: And I said, he wants to be a pro soccer player, which I love.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: I love that he's has the confidence just to say that.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: Yes, and and you know, um, we know it's hard to become a pro soccer player, but I was telling him, I was like, who says you can't?
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: Yes, I said, you put in the work, you take a line to action, buddy, the sky's your limit.
- 26:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: I said, I'm not the one that's gonna put a ceiling on top of you.
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: And so I said, let's do it, let's put the work in.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: And you know, time will tell what his decision is, but that's what he wants right now, and I'm all for it.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: And you're leading by example.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's that's the best thing.
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: You can have the conversations, you're leading by example.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: I think one of the really important things of what we're talking about today is just where community falls in line because I can only speak for myself as well.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: It's like there's so many times you're going through somebody in isolation, and like you're like, okay, my husband doesn't need to hear about it anymore.
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: My my parents don't, my friends don't.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: I've got to figure this out for myself.
- 27:11SPEAKER_01: And I think oftentimes we're trying to do it by ourselves, we're doing it with our therapist, and then you get back home and you're like in this cycle.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: And it takes sometimes getting inspired outside of your world to say, like, hey, I'm gonna do this for me.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: And I'm sure people are like, what is Stephanie and what is loop?
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: You know, and now you're here, but you're like, No, I'm actually going for something, and you have nothing to lose, you have everything to gain.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: And it is in community.
- 27:32SPEAKER_01: And I feel like if that is peptides are great, don't get me wrong.
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: But I think for women, especially to have a safe place to go, because we are the ones having kids going through menopause, I mean, our bodies are constantly changing, everything's changing, and sometimes I think it's not fair, you know.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: I even I look at my boyfriend sometimes and I'm like, this is not fair.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Like he makes a decision and he takes two peptides and whoop boom, you know, and you're like, okay, this is interesting.
- 27:56SPEAKER_01: I I feel like with women, especially middle-aged, I do love that the whole muscle thing is coming back of like when you see somebody visibly have muscle, they've earned it.
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: Because I don't care what you say.
- 28:07SPEAKER_01: You can take it, you guys, you can take a GLP, and I have so many clients twofold, don't look like they're on GLPs and they're on a lot of dose, high dose of GLPs.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: And also, a GLP is not gonna give you muscle.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: In fact, it's gonna make it harder to have muscle.
- 28:20SPEAKER_01: So when you see somebody who has a little divot or you can see their muscle coming out, they've earned that.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: They've worked for it.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: They put the work in.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: They've earned it, and they're not, you don't have to live at the gym, but there is something behind that where it's like, especially middle-aged women, like they're doing it, they're consistent.
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: And if you're consistent, guys, it doesn't take that long.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: Why don't we talk a little bit more about macros?
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: Because that's something that you're great at and I don't do a ton of time with.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: With your clients, what do you see is the most challenging piece?
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: So let's say I come in and I'm frustrated.
- 28:49SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm I mean I'm on pet size, let's say I'm on all these, nothing's working.
- 28:53SPEAKER_01: I eat because I hear this a lot.
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, I eat clean, I'm sleeping.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: How do you handle me?
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: Um, first off, it'd be what do you consider clean?
- 29:02unknown: Yes.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: I and that's another term I'm trying to get away from is it's not clean or dirty, like yeah, black or white.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like and so, and I feel like that was coined, you know, through social media.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: And really the biggest struggle is probably eating protein because protein is so essential when you're on a GLP because that's gonna help preserve your muscle.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: And it doesn't matter if you're on a GLP or you're doing weight loss through the traditional cutting calories, working out.
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: Um, you're going to lose muscle as you lose weight.
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: But yes, GLPs will speed up the process, but you have to up your protein to preserve muscle, and that is so essential as you get older.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: But muscle also helps you burn more calories at rest.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: I was talking with a client last week and I was like, so this is another twofold of maintaining weight or I'm sorry, of lifting weights is you are going to build muscle because muscle weighs more than fat.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: So you're gonna, your body comes your weight may stay exactly the same.
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: You may or you gain weight.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: Or you gain weight, but your composition completely changes, your pant size goes down, you lose inches is because like a pound of muscle is much smaller than a pound of fat.
- 30:15SPEAKER_00: And so um getting them to understand a true macro breakdown of okay, let's aim for over 100 grams of protein.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: They're like, What?
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: And so I was just talking with another friend and client who he just drinks coffee all day long.
- 30:32SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, hey, let's do something really simple.
- 30:35SPEAKER_00: I gave him some of the loop whey protein powder.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: And I said, put this in your coffee.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: And I said, start out with it.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: He's like, but what if I'm not hungry until like after lunch?
- 30:45SPEAKER_00: And I said, do another scoop then.
- 30:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: He's like, it makes me tired if I eat in the morning.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: I was like, sounds like we're very your body's your body's almost in a starvation.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: And it's used to it, right?
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: It's like, okay, I don't eat in this big window.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: And so a lot of women who come to me are under-eating because they're like, I'm I gain weight if I look at food, and I'm like, it just sounds like your body's in starvation mode.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: So as soon as you do start eating, you think you're gonna gain weight.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: But as soon as you start nourishing it and giving it whole unprocessed foods, like complex carbs, which that's another thing, is people think, oh, I'm just gonna eat chips for carbs or this.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: And your body does not process a complex carb the same way it does in uncomplex.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: So think of like uncomplex carb or simple, sorry, simple carbs.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: There we go.
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: Marine fart.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: Like chips.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: There's not a lot to break down.
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: So it's very simple.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: Whereas a complex carb, it's gonna take a lot, it's a lot harder on your body to break down.
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's a lot more fiber in it.
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: There's a lot more fiber that's gonna keep you fuller longer.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: So it's just a whole mindset, mindset shift of what to fuel their body with.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: And you can get a lot of trouble on a GLP.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: And I I talk to a lot of my clients about this.
- 32:01SPEAKER_01: If you're on keto, carnivore, great.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, I love that you're eating a lot of meat.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: Great, perfect protein.
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: However, if you're not eating complex carbohydrates, especially at night, so you can use them and refuel while you're sleeping, you're you're and the GLP honestly does not work as well.
- 32:15SPEAKER_01: It love GLPs love accomplished.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, I said start off with the fourth cup of rice.
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: Like, I'll be honest, I eat like a cup of rice a night.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: My girls can test on everything.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: I love potatoes.
- 32:26SPEAKER_01: Potatoes, and and by the way, I wake up in the morning and my muscle, I am more tight because my water, the water in my muscle is great.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: It's full, it has accomplished carbohydrates, and it knows that hey, you're gonna put it to work in the morning.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: You're gonna go walk, you're gonna lift your weights.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: My body knows and it wants that fuel, and it feels really good, and it actually looks way better.
- 32:47SPEAKER_01: You guys know when you see a flat ass, I hate to say it, or you see muscle or hanging things that are hanging, right?
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're skinny, but things are not tight to the bone, right?
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: So you're not seeing any definition, you're actually just seeing things heading south.
- 33:01SPEAKER_01: The muscle has nothing in it.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: So there's lack of water, you know, there's lack of nutrients, and that's what even creatine, when I talk to clients, I was saying this recently, I said, you gotta get through the piece that it bloats me.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: And what I say to them, and and lifting weights.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: Yes, in the beginning, you are gonna have more muscle, water in your muscle from lifting weights and from creatine.
- 33:20SPEAKER_01: Hands down, the scale will go up, you will look fuller.
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: But like you had said, it goes from an expansion to a retraction.
- 33:25SPEAKER_01: So once your body's used to the stress that you're putting on it, even like you know, when I lift, I walk out and I have a pump.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: I'm a little, to me, first, I'm a little bit more pumped than I like I normally like.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I do know that that's just because I just to put a lot of blood flow and water into my muscles.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: That's how I'm gonna grow them.
- 33:43SPEAKER_01: It doesn't last forever.
- 33:45SPEAKER_01: About five hours later, I look like the normal person, but I do know I have built.
- 33:49SPEAKER_01: And so it's it's kind of trusting how you're talking about the body, and also just stop paying such a damn like focus on it.
- 33:57SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: Do the work and let it go.
- 33:59SPEAKER_01: Just to look in the mirror for a little bit, you know.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: But just we say that I say all the time the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over and expecting a different result.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: If you're in the gym six days a week and someone can't tell, I'm I'm sorry, this is gonna sound so hard to hear.
- 34:14SPEAKER_01: If you guys are working out six days a week and you don't look like you are, ask yourself what you're doing wrong.
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: You should be walking around looking like a very fit person if you're spending that time.
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: And that is the hard conversation life to have with clients is okay, if you think your GLP is not working, I think we honestly have to look a little bit deeper and ask the hard questions.
- 34:37SPEAKER_00: Answer them.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: Are you prioritizing protein in whole ingredients?
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: Are you walking?
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: Are you lifting weights?
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: Are you not binging on the weekend with alcohol?
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: Um, are you being honest?
- 34:50SPEAKER_02: Because yourself.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: Yes, with yourself, because you're doing yourself a disservice if you think a GLP is just gonna come in and be this magic bullet, like you've always said.
- 34:59SPEAKER_00: And I that is with GLPs or not with GLPs.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: Anyone that wants to better themselves, live a healthier lifestyle because macros are eating better is not just a short-term fix.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: Like I was talking with a client.
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: She was, she was like, Well, I just don't know how to talk to family about like this new diet I'm on.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: I said, Let's reframe it.
- 35:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I said this word.
- 35:22SPEAKER_00: I said, this is not a diet.
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: I said, and you don't ever have to explain yourself for not wanting a donut.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: Or yes, if there's a day that you really want it, fantastic.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: Fit it in, have it.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: Then the rest of the day, we're gonna focus on protein and whole ingredients and move on with our life.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:40SPEAKER_00: I said, this is a this is not a this or that or black or white situation.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: This is a and.
- 35:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: And that's what I really try to emphasize with macros, is this is just a tool.
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: It's information, just like your aura ring.
- 35:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: Or whatever else.
- 35:57SPEAKER_00: You wanna the scale.
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but it's a matrix.
- 36:00SPEAKER_00: It's and that's why I've said before.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: They're not, it's not a lifetime thing.
- 36:04SPEAKER_00: And you have to make the choice to if you want to better yourself or if you want a smaller pant size, to understand it, to understand them, and also like using what works for your body.
- 36:15SPEAKER_01: Use my epcasts.
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: Like at the end of the day, like there's certain things you can't eat, certain things you can't eat, and then knowing what triggers your body.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: I didn't eat red meat for I want to say half my life because I thought it made me feel sick.
- 36:29SPEAKER_01: And when I had a really hard pregnancy, so I was very, very sick my first trimester.
- 36:33SPEAKER_01: And was a point where I had to do an anti-nouse, I was losing so much weight.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: I'd do an anti-nouse.
- 36:38SPEAKER_01: What made me feel really good is beans, rice, and cheese.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: So in my mind, I'm like, oh, maybe I should be a vegetarian because my body was feeling so good on it.
- 36:44SPEAKER_01: Okay, wrong thing to do, by the way.
- 36:46SPEAKER_01: Come out and then just start, you know, dabbling.
- 36:49SPEAKER_01: But I mean, I was so underfeeding myself from protein that I just I stayed away from it.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: And my blood would come back, and my doctors say to me, Hey Steph, your protein levels are low.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, okay, well, I'm working on it.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: And now I look back and I go, oh my gosh, I was eating barely any protein.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: And then I started, you know, chicken and fish, and I was dating, you know, JP, who's from Texas, and I was like, all right, I gotta learn how to eat steak.
- 37:11SPEAKER_01: There's no way that I'm gonna handle this relationship.
- 37:14SPEAKER_01: I don't wanna be the person who goes to a steakhouse and orders salmon.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: For people that do, that's okay.
- 37:18SPEAKER_01: For me, I just was like, I know how good it is for me.
- 37:20SPEAKER_01: I was anemic once in college when I was running marathons, and I was like, let's do this.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: So I literally just started digestive enzymes and I'd go out to dinner and I would, he would order steak, and I would have two bites.
- 37:30SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 37:31SPEAKER_01: And I would slowly introduce it back into my body.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: Now I could, I mean, I literally could have it five nights a week.
- 37:37SPEAKER_01: I'm fine, I have no problems.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: I still take a digestive enzyme and still helps my body, my helps my body absorb my food.
- 37:43SPEAKER_01: I think that's my blood wear kind of showed.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: I still need to do that.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: But I have to be careful, like I can do ground beef, but I can't, I could never do a whole burger.
- 37:49SPEAKER_01: I will feel really sick.
- 37:50SPEAKER_01: But I can share a burger, yes.
- 37:52SPEAKER_01: I can do half a burger, I'm fine.
- 37:53SPEAKER_01: Can I do whole bologna's?
- 37:55SPEAKER_01: No.
- 37:55SPEAKER_01: So the ground beef isn't as easier, and some of the richer cuts aren't as easier.
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: But you get to know it and you just figure out, okay, how do I play within it?
- 38:03SPEAKER_01: Where I can still enjoy it, but I know that there's a tipping point where then I don't feel good.
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: That's where I just shared on Instagram yesterday that how macros really helped heal my relationship with food and allowing me to fuel my body best, but also give in to my cravings.
- 38:19SPEAKER_00: And so um, I think also through this gut healing thank you to Klo or Glow and KPV.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: I am excited to test beef again because I do like a good fillet, but it was funny.
- 38:32SPEAKER_00: I grew up never eating beef, and that was a personal choice.
- 38:35SPEAKER_00: I just didn't I still don't like the taste of ground beef, but a good steak every now and then.
- 38:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: And which I'll be excited to test is on Christmas this past year, I thought I was over all of it.
- 38:46SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I'm good.
- 38:47SPEAKER_00: Like my MCAS is much better.
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: Um, we did surf and turf on Christmas, and so I had a tiny little fillet, felt great after the next morning.
- 38:56SPEAKER_00: I woke up and my eyes had were puffy and red all around.
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: I was like, this has never happened before.
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: And I was like, what?
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: And it was a big histamine reaction.
- 39:09SPEAKER_00: And that's so it was really always hard to pinpoint my allergies because it wasn't instant.
- 39:14SPEAKER_00: I was not, I'm not anaphylactic, it was slow burn, and that made it so hard to hard to connect the dots.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: And so that was kind of where that food fear came in.
- 39:24SPEAKER_00: But upon healing my gut now and working with macros, I have such a good foundation of knowing what I can tolerate, how much.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: And I I think people are surprised at how much I eat.
- 39:35SPEAKER_00: I think you've said that before.
- 39:36SPEAKER_00: Like I eat a lot, yeah, and I'm proud of it because I've built it and it helps fuel my muscle.
- 39:42SPEAKER_00: And I think a lot of clients really love to hear that the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn it.
- 39:48SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 39:48SPEAKER_00: And they're like, What?
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: I was like, Yeah, let's get that muscle going.
- 39:52SPEAKER_01: Like well, because you look at your ring and you're like, oh, I lifted and I burned 120 calories.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: But what I do say too, and this was a big shift for me, is you're I'm eating to build, I'm not eating to burn.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: So when you wake up in the morning, it's not like, oh, I need a burn off last night.
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: I was so bad.
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh, I'm gonna go put that steak to work.
- 40:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:10SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm gonna use that nutrients that I gave myself last night to what I'm gonna do for what I'm gonna do in the gym.
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: Because I know if I don't eat enough, then by the way, it doesn't matter what I do in the gym.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: Because I'm gonna be like, I'm gonna be just I almost feel worse when I know I don't eat enough.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 40:23SPEAKER_00: I wake up the next morning and I almost feel like huffier almost.
- 40:27SPEAKER_00: Like it's weird.
- 40:27SPEAKER_00: It's weird.
- 40:28SPEAKER_00: I agree.
- 40:28SPEAKER_00: And then I wake up after having a big bowl of like, yeah, rice and chicken and all this, all these wholesome ingredients, and I was like, I feel so much better.
- 40:36SPEAKER_00: I'm fueled.
- 40:38SPEAKER_00: So helping clients get over the food fear is and that's why I think GLP would help too, just the food noise goes down.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: Food noise goes.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: You know, I do get which we can talk about here is you know, what about someone who has an eating or who's had an eating disorder, right?
- 40:53SPEAKER_01: Who has body dysmorphia, and now you're getting them their hands in a GLP.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: So I get asked this a lot, and I say it's it is it is a slippery slope, but it's something you talk about because it could be one of the best tools ever, guys.
- 41:04SPEAKER_01: If you have not dealt with an eating disorder, or which I think in this society, I find it very few, and I feel you guys are so lucky if you have not, body dysmorphia and how much of a box you live in, and how afraid you are to live your life, and you just wish your brain was different and you wish that you were like your friend who could just go do whatever, like, why am I this way?
- 41:25SPEAKER_01: You a GLP use the right way with a coach, with a doctor, explaining to the client what a powerful tool it is and how it can be mismanaged and misuse, and what will happen to you and what a setback you'll have if you don't follow the protocols that we're working with, if you don't come check in, if you're not in a community talking about it, because yeah, more is not better at all.
- 41:47SPEAKER_00: No.
- 41:48SPEAKER_00: I when I first got into them, I was just try-rating up and I almost got too high and I became very dull.
- 41:56SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 41:56SPEAKER_00: And I was like, whoop, back down, and I'm on a very, very low dose.
- 42:00SPEAKER_00: Like, not even a full micro dose is such a happy place for me.
- 42:03SPEAKER_00: But that's another reason why I track macros, is because if I don't, I don't eat enough.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: But it's telling these clients that you can quiet the food noise a little bit and get more in tune with yourself of what actually sounds good.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: And how talk to yourself.
- 42:21SPEAKER_00: How yeah, how can you talk to yourself and like I'm bad?
- 42:26SPEAKER_00: That's that's not a that's not a food rule.
- 42:29SPEAKER_00: Like that's not a food review of I'm bad.
- 42:31SPEAKER_00: I was so bad last night.
- 42:33SPEAKER_00: Like I really try to break up that narrative with people of you're not bad because you ate.
- 42:40SPEAKER_01: Like And by the way, but you had fun last night.
- 42:43SPEAKER_01: Were you with your friends?
- 42:44SPEAKER_01: Were you laughing or with your husband?
- 42:46SPEAKER_01: Now, if you're in your pantry by yourself just shoving food down, that's a whole nother conversation of why the why behind that, right?
- 42:52SPEAKER_01: What are you doing?
- 42:53SPEAKER_01: But if you went out and enjoyed yourself, like you should wake with a smile and say, I had a great time last night.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: And I'm proud of myself that I let myself have a great time.
- 43:00SPEAKER_01: Today's a new day, let's get after it.
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: And as long as you lead with intention, yeah, like so many areas in your life, as long as you lead with intention, you're not gonna feel bad.
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: Or I hope you don't.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: Well, it's the I think it's the mindless, right?
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: Without intent.
- 43:15SPEAKER_01: Mindless, the TV, you know, I work with my clients too, and I just really just we're around a lot of protein in it.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: And I said, How when you do have enough protein, oftentimes you're craving sugar for two reasons.
- 43:26SPEAKER_01: One, you're wanting energy.
- 43:27SPEAKER_01: So your body naturally, the quickest form of energy is sugar.
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: It goes right into your bloodstream, it spikes it, and you're like, I've got energy again.
- 43:34SPEAKER_01: Protein will keep your insulin level super resistant.
- 43:37SPEAKER_01: So you're not having that spike and you're not searching for sugar for energy because the protein is giving you enough energy to feed your muscles.
- 43:44SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 43:44SPEAKER_01: And the complex carbohydrates.
- 43:45SPEAKER_01: So you're not in this yo-yo.
- 43:47SPEAKER_01: And then when you do want something, you ask yourself, I ask myself sometimes like, is it worth it?
- 43:52SPEAKER_01: Like, do I really like I'm a cake brownie type?
- 43:56SPEAKER_01: There's a few restaurants where I love their one dessert.
- 43:58SPEAKER_01: Other than that, I'm not a huge dessert person.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: And I'm not knock anyone who is.
- 44:01SPEAKER_01: I'm just I'm not, I've never really been.
- 44:04SPEAKER_01: But if I really want something, I'll is it I'll ask myself, I was like, do you really want this?
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, oh, I really want this.
- 44:09SPEAKER_01: And I enjoy the whole night.
- 44:10SPEAKER_01: I don't think about it.
- 44:11SPEAKER_01: The next morning I don't think about it.
- 44:12SPEAKER_01: But if I'm not really into something, I just pass on it.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: Cause I'm like, I don't want to eat something I'm not really into.
- 44:17SPEAKER_01: Like I'm gonna have a bite and try it.
- 44:18SPEAKER_01: Then I'm like, oh, it's not that great.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 44:20SPEAKER_01: But it's fun to explore and to do things.
- 44:21SPEAKER_01: And I feel like that piece of understanding your macros, and they do change as you age.
- 44:27SPEAKER_01: They do.
- 44:28SPEAKER_01: It's not going to be a one size fits all.
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: And that's why I think people talking about what their macro count is.
- 44:33SPEAKER_01: It's there, and it's a trial and error.
- 44:35SPEAKER_00: Yes, it is a trial and error.
- 44:36SPEAKER_00: And especially if you lose a bunch of weight, we're gonna have to reevaluate your like we're gonna have to readjust them.
- 44:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:42SPEAKER_00: But um, I feel like it's a slippery slope between there's such a big move with intuitive eating right now.
- 44:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:50SPEAKER_00: And I love that.
- 44:51SPEAKER_00: I really think you should be in tune with what your body wants, but that doesn't also give you the green light to just binge on something.
- 45:00SPEAKER_00: Because are you truly intuitive eating then?
- 45:03SPEAKER_00: If you're like, but that's what I wanted.
- 45:05SPEAKER_00: I'm like, oh, that's great.
- 45:06SPEAKER_00: My eight-year-old daughter would eat a bowl of Oreos for dinner.
- 45:10SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 45:10SPEAKER_00: A bowl of chocolate for everything.
- 45:11SPEAKER_00: If I let her if I let her, but she's starting to realize that bowl of Oreos doesn't make her feel great.
- 45:18unknown: Yes.
- 45:18SPEAKER_00: Because that's what we did last Friday.
- 45:20SPEAKER_00: She had ice cream for dinner after dance with friends, and she came home.
- 45:23SPEAKER_00: She's like, I don't feel good.
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: I'm like, it's because we haven't eaten solid food.
- 45:26SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 45:27SPEAKER_01: But so when you're on an airplane sometimes and you're like, the meals are so amiss.
- 45:31SPEAKER_01: You know, and even so you try to plan it, but you're like, I haven't had a real, you just don't feel good.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: You're like, I've had I've had a protein bar, you know, there's some days when I'm like, okay, like this is oftentimes how the trap the trip is set up.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: You know, you you sometimes I bring food and it still doesn't really work.
- 45:45SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 45:46SPEAKER_01: Like you're having that day where you're you're off, I don't feel good because I haven't eaten enough.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: And so really getting clients to understand eating enough to fully feel your body.
- 45:57SPEAKER_00: And that's where I talk about having a balanced meal of protein, carbs, and fat.
- 46:02SPEAKER_00: That is gonna keep you the fullest, longest, and the most satiated.
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: Because if you're just eating a dinner with pasta and cheese and there's no protein, your body's gonna fly through that.
- 46:15SPEAKER_00: Oh gosh, you're gonna have a huge sugar spike and you're gonna be looking for your next meal.
- 46:21SPEAKER_00: And you're like, I just ate an hour ago.
- 46:23SPEAKER_00: Let's add some protein into that, and you're gonna be amazed of how much fuller longer you are.
- 46:29SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 46:29SPEAKER_01: I now like my snacks are usually like a bowl of chicken.
- 46:32SPEAKER_01: I mean, I hate to say it, but because it makes me feel so good, and then I'm literally like I'm this the rest of the day.
- 46:38SPEAKER_01: It's not like I'm running for something.
- 46:39SPEAKER_01: And and then oftentimes at night I'll say, Okay, I I need to eat a protein bar before I go to bed.
- 46:44SPEAKER_01: And it's like such a weird thing to do, but it's because I'm like, I know I didn't get, I need 20 more grams of protein.
- 46:49SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 46:49SPEAKER_01: And I'm mindful of it.
- 46:50SPEAKER_01: I might not even be hungry, but I'm mindful of it because I also don't want to get into a situation where all of a sudden you're saying, like, okay, I've really done a number of my metabolism.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: And I feel like that's a piece that we work a lot on with our clients.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: It's like, okay, how do we unlearn so much of the stuff that we just, you know, the matrix society would ever teach us?
- 47:07SPEAKER_01: It's not calories in, calories out, guys.
- 47:09SPEAKER_01: It's that is, I wish it was that simple.
- 47:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's it's not.
- 47:12SPEAKER_00: And it it's really the combination of the foods you eat.
- 47:15SPEAKER_00: And I think people underestimate the power of a balanced plate.
- 47:20SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 47:20SPEAKER_00: Of yeah, it's gonna take a little bit of like conscious effort to okay, where's my protein at every meal?
- 47:27SPEAKER_00: Where is a carb?
- 47:29SPEAKER_00: Where is a fat?
- 47:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and that's how I build my meals at home.
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: I'm like, where's our carb source?
- 47:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, rice, potatoes, yeah, easy pasta.
- 47:37SPEAKER_00: We love the protein pasta.
- 47:38SPEAKER_00: People underestimate those.
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: Um, throw in some protein and a veggie, yes, and you're done.
- 47:45SPEAKER_00: It's it's not complicated.
- 47:46SPEAKER_00: It's not, and people, and that's what I try to help clients with is like, I'm not here to throw all these new recipes at you.
- 47:51SPEAKER_00: I'm really trying to make it so simple because that's exactly how we eat right now.
- 47:55SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 47:55SPEAKER_00: I am an Uber at night.
- 47:56SPEAKER_00: I joke around with my friends, I'm like, oh, Uber shift's starting.
- 48:01SPEAKER_00: And I'm driving around from 245 sometimes till 8:30.
- 48:06SPEAKER_00: It's crazy.
- 48:07SPEAKER_00: And so easy on-the-go snacks, balanced in dinners that I can make ahead that are minimal ingredients is kind of what I'm I've really gotten to.
- 48:17SPEAKER_00: And that's why I've been sharing a lot more on my Instagram and with the loop on your recipes are so good.
- 48:21SPEAKER_00: In loop health is meal prep friendly, minimal ingredients, um, easy, and then can be made ahead of time.
- 48:31SPEAKER_01: It's I think set for success, right?
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: You're that's what I say.
- 48:33SPEAKER_01: It's like when I especially when I land here back from Dallas, the first thing I do is I go to Trader Joe's and Sprouts.
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: Everyone knows I get white roses for the house, and I get all my proteins and my veggies, and we, you know, we we're probably a little boring here, but we probably eat the same six meals, kind of rotated in and out.
- 48:48SPEAKER_01: You add, you know, what it looks like.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: And then sometimes we get more creative.
- 48:51SPEAKER_01: But my girls like what I cook and it's healthy and it's balanced, and so we do it.
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: But I know, like this Sunday, I will make sure I'm set for my whole week because I am so busy that when they want something, okay, do we have it?
- 49:03SPEAKER_01: What does it look like?
- 49:04SPEAKER_01: It's easy.
- 49:04SPEAKER_01: I know it's macro-friendly, I know it's gonna give them everything they need.
- 49:07SPEAKER_01: But I also know I could go in here right now and like about five different sources of protein really quick that I can get.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: Today, food prep all day long.
- 49:14SPEAKER_01: No, you know, you don't need chopping up a thousand things.
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: Like, make it simple, start with one thing.
- 49:19SPEAKER_01: You know, find one thing that you can get easily in the refrigerator that you need protein.
- 49:23SPEAKER_01: Some people like hard-boiled eggs.
- 49:24SPEAKER_01: I'm like you, I'm allergic to eggs, which is crazy.
- 49:26SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 49:27SPEAKER_01: I can eat them in um like a cookie, like a baked thing.
- 49:31SPEAKER_01: I can eat eggs, but I also don't eat a lot of that.
- 49:33SPEAKER_01: But I can't like I can eat, let's say I go to a buffet or and I'm traveling or something.
- 49:38SPEAKER_01: Like I could order an omelet, because I never order omelets and I'm fine.
- 49:42SPEAKER_01: But it to me, it's the buildup in the system.
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: Oh and it then it gets really bad.
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: And then I get the swollen eyes and the swollen skin.
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: But a histamine thing I used to get was really two things which has really changed since I've been on a GLP is I used to get really red when I drank.
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: The sugar, the rush of the sugar, like my like almost like Asians get really red.
- 50:01SPEAKER_01: It's a histamine response.
- 50:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I used to get it.
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: Now I never get it.
- 50:04SPEAKER_01: And it was funny, my boyfriend the other day is like, this is so weird.
- 50:07SPEAKER_01: I have not seen especially I'd get it in high altitudes where you're more dehydrated.
- 50:10SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 50:10SPEAKER_01: Now I every once in a while, but I rarely get it.
- 50:13SPEAKER_01: And then I had another strange thing is that before my knee accident, I would sweat so much.
- 50:20SPEAKER_01: So I'd be the person who like in dancing at a wedding and I'm like, look like I ran a marathon.
- 50:25SPEAKER_01: Like, I would sweat.
- 50:26SPEAKER_01: It was so embarrassing, or maybe at a concert, and I'm like, I can't dance anymore because I'm so sweaty.
- 50:31SPEAKER_01: And I was so self-conscious.
- 50:33SPEAKER_01: And I don't know now, maybe because I don't do the cardio, I don't know exactly the reason why.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: Um my chemistry is different.
- 50:39SPEAKER_01: I don't have it anymore.
- 50:41SPEAKER_01: I mean, I will sweat, but that's wild.
- 50:43SPEAKER_01: I mean, a normal person, not like where I need to remove myself.
- 50:46SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 50:49SPEAKER_01: Like this got awkward.
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was so weird.
- 50:52SPEAKER_01: So bodies change, composition changes.
- 50:54SPEAKER_01: I think listening to your body is really, really important and understanding it's one size doesn't, you know, isn't a one size fits all.
- 51:00SPEAKER_01: And then we are gonna fluctuate.
- 51:02SPEAKER_01: I mean, I barely get on my scale.
- 51:04SPEAKER_01: I probably get on my scale, and oftentimes it's hold me accountable in the other way, too.
- 51:08SPEAKER_01: If like with my stress, with a lot that I have going on, things can get away with me, and I get on the scale, and I'm like, oh, I don't, this isn't healthy.
- 51:15SPEAKER_01: And some people gain weight, some people lose weight.
- 51:18SPEAKER_01: It stress is a really weird thing, and you can be doing everything, at least for me, exactly the same, and the stress will tip me into a different place.
- 51:25SPEAKER_01: And so I I get held accountable kind of that way, but I mean it's maybe once a month.
- 51:31SPEAKER_01: Okay, and um, and that's more what it's for.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: I just bought the hum um body scale because after I had my call with you, yeah, you're like, get a DEXA scan, and I couldn't get into one, so I just happened to buy the scale because I was like, well, at least I have a measurement.
- 51:46SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: And I'm shocked actually how much muscle I have.
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: And it says, and I do weigh myself daily, but for me, it's like on the flip side of just keeping myself, yeah.
- 51:56SPEAKER_00: Okay, don't, you know, are you eating enough and watching the muscle growth?
- 52:01SPEAKER_01: It's an accountability thing for you.
- 52:02SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 52:02SPEAKER_00: And I'm like I said before, like offline, like I I like the metrics, I like the numbers, and I'm in such a better, like healthier spot now to not let them go to so if you're four pounds heavier and not freaking out.
- 52:15SPEAKER_00: No, it's like, okay, um, like probably when I come back from traveling, when I go out to Kansas City from here, okay.
- 52:20SPEAKER_00: I just traveled.
- 52:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I ate some food, probably had a little bit more alcohol than I'm used to.
- 52:25SPEAKER_00: But I know it goes back down because in two days is because I'm I've built a very solid foundation.
- 52:31SPEAKER_00: And so um working with clients on that is definitely it can I think it can be life-changing for them of realizing you give yourself solid foundations.
- 52:42SPEAKER_00: I think you would be shocked at how much freedom you truly have.
- 52:45SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: And trust again.
- 52:48SPEAKER_01: I think trust like women, we put so much pressure on ourselves.
- 52:52SPEAKER_01: I mean, we laugh about this.
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: Like we're all dressing for each other, right?
- 52:55SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 52:55SPEAKER_01: We're all looking each other up and down.
- 52:57SPEAKER_01: God forbid you shine too bright, someone's not gonna like you.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: You know, my friend calls it like the big, the poppy, the high poppy syndrome.
- 53:03SPEAKER_01: It's just kind of like women tend to want to keep other women down.
- 53:05SPEAKER_00: Oh, what are they?
- 53:06SPEAKER_00: They um the crab effect.
- 53:08SPEAKER_01: The crab effect, exactly.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: They pull you pull a crab down and it's like just let them let them go.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: Like if they have the like the the audacity to go after their dreams, let them.
- 53:19SPEAKER_01: And well, what are you doing that I can learn from?
- 53:21SPEAKER_01: You'll be curious.
- 53:22SPEAKER_01: I always say be curious because it's so easy to judge instead of saying, like, I wonder what they're going through, or wow, they look great.
- 53:28SPEAKER_01: I wonder what's going on.
- 53:29SPEAKER_01: And it's okay to change your mind.
- 53:31SPEAKER_01: I think I get a lot of people who are afraid to change their mind on the GLPs, they want permission.
- 53:36SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, I'm gonna give you permission all day long.
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: In fact, I'm gonna say every single man and woman in their mid-age of life should be on for Alzheimer's prevention, a microdoso GLP.
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: And cholesterol, and the list goes on and on.
- 53:47SPEAKER_01: And I'm so I give you permission.
- 53:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm gonna, I'll be the first to say I judged in the beginning.
- 53:52SPEAKER_00: Of course, so did I.
- 53:53SPEAKER_00: And then after learning about the MCAS and being like, oh, these doctors are giving no guidance.
- 53:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 53:59SPEAKER_00: So that's where I am kind of excited to come in and help these clients with um the nutrition.
- 54:05SPEAKER_00: Because like one of my clients that I have right now, she has no guidance from her doctor.
- 54:09SPEAKER_00: And I was like, oh, okay, let's let's start from the fountain.
- 54:12SPEAKER_00: And she's kind of a great client because she has no knowledge of anything.
- 54:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 54:16SPEAKER_00: And so just giving her the green light to be like, okay, we're gonna start feeling yourself this way.
- 54:23SPEAKER_00: And she's already like, she's only a few weeks in.
- 54:25SPEAKER_00: She's like, I feel so good.
- 54:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 54:27SPEAKER_00: And she's already lost weight, and she stopped taking her GLP because they're gonna try to get pregnant.
- 54:33SPEAKER_00: And yeah, I'm like, I'm I'm not, I'm not staying away from that one.
- 54:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, smart.
- 54:37SPEAKER_00: But um, I said, but I can't help you with the lifestyle.
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 54:40SPEAKER_00: And she's like, I don't even want to take it because I feel so good, and it's just so rewarding.
- 54:46SPEAKER_01: And so um and that's fun too, guys.
- 54:49SPEAKER_01: You can get on loop health right now and get on, you can see Meg in all her recipes.
- 54:52SPEAKER_01: And yes, I want to get more involved.
- 54:54SPEAKER_01: I also, and this weekend I'll be fun with all the other coaches, is I want to create some challenges.
- 54:58SPEAKER_01: And so we kind of come together.
- 55:00SPEAKER_01: So, like we could bring Michelle in and she'll be really dealing with the GLP piece of it, right?
- 55:03SPEAKER_01: We can bring you and you're gonna I'm the macros, and maybe I bring up the workout piece in, or we bring Kay to help with that.
- 55:08SPEAKER_01: But how do you create some challenges in a community where it's like we can hold each other accountable?
- 55:12SPEAKER_01: But yes, get in there, ask, and ask you a lot of questions, right?
- 55:15SPEAKER_01: Yes and book a call, figure out what your macros are.
- 55:18SPEAKER_01: Once you figure out your macros, you can be off to the races for a while and play with it, right?
- 55:22SPEAKER_01: They you have enough tools or enough apps to understand it.
- 55:27SPEAKER_01: Make sure you're not lying to yourself, but understand it because you really need to know is it a tablespoon dressing do you have, or do you have half a cup?
- 55:33SPEAKER_00: You know, coffee creamer is another slippery slope for people.
- 55:36SPEAKER_00: And man, people are real, real sensitive about their coffee creamer.
- 55:41SPEAKER_01: The coffee creamer, the alcohol, and I would say, what's the third one there would be their sense, and I think some of the salad dressings and things.
- 55:48SPEAKER_01: I think.
- 55:49SPEAKER_00: They don't want to acknowledge it, but I really think even just booking a call with me to talk about if you have just nutrition guidance, like I just want some guidance.
- 55:58SPEAKER_00: What is I would be happy to talk to you.
- 56:00SPEAKER_00: You shoot me some topics, I will, I'd be more than happy to talk to you.
- 56:04SPEAKER_00: So it's not just macros.
- 56:05SPEAKER_01: I think people get confused too is like, how do I lose fat without losing muscle, right?
- 56:09SPEAKER_01: That conversion.
- 56:10SPEAKER_01: Or you know, even like some, you know, people get too thin.
- 56:13SPEAKER_01: It's like, how do I put on some more fat without getting really big?
- 56:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's it's it's everyone has their different things.
- 56:18SPEAKER_01: So it's like 100% just because someone feels really small, do not say that they don't feel as bad about themselves as someone who's bigger.
- 56:24SPEAKER_01: And I I'm gonna say that because I remember when after my surgery, when I would put on jeans and nothing would I look like a boy.
- 56:32SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I would have a pile of my jeans, I mean, on the ground in my closet because I looked, nothing was filled out.
- 56:38SPEAKER_01: I had no muscle.
- 56:39SPEAKER_01: And it was, I remember sitting there crying, being like, am I ever gonna get this back?
- 56:42SPEAKER_01: No, if someone saw me out, they'd be like, oh my gosh, you look, I mean their mind.
- 56:44SPEAKER_01: Oh, she looks, she looks, I mean, but I was dying inside.
- 56:47SPEAKER_01: And so I'm always like, be careful to judge on either side of the spectrum of like what is somebody is going through.
- 56:53SPEAKER_01: And then it's just, and by the way, I also say is like, look at me today of how much muscle I put on.
- 56:57SPEAKER_01: And if I can do that, anybody can it's possible, it's very possible to change.
- 57:00SPEAKER_01: Okay, Caesar gave us five minutes, so we're gonna get into your the rapid file, which now you know because you've listened to my podcast.
- 57:06SPEAKER_01: So you're like, I might throw, I might throw a ball in.
- 57:11SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, I will.
- 57:12SPEAKER_01: Okay, so if you could go back to your 20-year-old self, what would you say?
- 57:15SPEAKER_01: Because you've done a lot of work, a lot of work.
- 57:18SPEAKER_00: Um just it sounds cliche, but believe in yourself, trust in yourself.
- 57:25SPEAKER_00: I spent so many years worrying what other people thought or other people how I should live my life, or living within a box to not ruffle any feathers or stand out.
- 57:38SPEAKER_00: And like turning 40 just opened up a whole new world and really healing that part of me.
- 57:43SPEAKER_00: I've done a ton of work, and I'm could not be prouder of the person I'm becoming, and I'm so excited for the future of finally feeling like I'm living my life for me, for my family, and it just feels really good.
- 58:00SPEAKER_00: And so I wish I could go back and just just tell her to I guess just love herself, like look inward and not listen to the noise.
- 58:12SPEAKER_01: I'm really proud of you.
- 58:13SPEAKER_01: We talk on the phone, we have we were raised very similarly, and so we we bonded a lot on that, and that's a very and I've got a great family, but it's a hard matrix to kind of break out of and figure out where you can exist within there, right?
- 58:25SPEAKER_01: Because you love people, you know, you love your family, but but how do you find Meg in all of it?
- 58:29SPEAKER_01: So you're doing you're doing a really great job.
- 58:31SPEAKER_01: And by the way, as someone who's a lot older than you, it gets even better.
- 58:34SPEAKER_01: So keep going.
- 58:36SPEAKER_01: I know the curveball I'm gonna throw in, but it's gonna actually help you for tomorrow because the other group is gonna do this tomorrow.
- 58:41SPEAKER_01: But um, okay, so what's a guilty pleasure you have that's not so guilty?
- 58:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, sweet.
- 58:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you oh I just I make a ninja creamy every night and I I was into that phase at one point.
- 58:53SPEAKER_01: I need I need it re-inspired.
- 58:54SPEAKER_01: Do a ninja creamy ninja creamy thing on the I will.
- 58:57SPEAKER_00: Um we make them every night.
- 58:59SPEAKER_00: It's we just actually had to buy our new a new machine.
- 59:03SPEAKER_00: A new machine because ours put in the work after three and a half years.
- 59:06SPEAKER_00: It caboots.
- 59:07SPEAKER_00: So um, but I mean I I and but that's another thing.
- 59:12SPEAKER_00: I'm very picky about what I have.
- 59:14SPEAKER_00: Like, is it worth it?
- 59:15SPEAKER_00: Cake's not worth it to me.
- 59:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, of course.
- 59:17SPEAKER_00: And and so I kind of pick and choose because I'm like how you should.
- 59:23SPEAKER_00: Ice cream is my rider day.
- 59:26unknown: I love it.
- 59:27SPEAKER_00: So it's ice cream for sure.
- 59:30SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 59:30SPEAKER_01: And you're at the end of the day, you're saying it's not every day, but it is your rider day.
- 59:34SPEAKER_01: What is a non-negotiable every day?
- 59:37SPEAKER_00: Oh man, movement that my walks over the summer, I started getting up and walking every day outside, and that's kind of when I started like binging podcasts.
- 59:46SPEAKER_00: And there, it was honestly, I can say that really is what moved the needle for me to really dive deep and find my confidence.
- 59:57SPEAKER_00: Is listening to podcasts in the morning, so some kind of movement.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't feel podcasts have been such a nice way to get a long format of something from different perspectives, right?
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_01: And I like that you can go in and pick things and search things, and there's ones that you resonate with, and there's other ones you're like, that's not my cup of tea, but there's enough out there that and you know, and just to talk about a podcast for one second, I remember the day mine came out, and this was I don't know how many we have, Caesar, but it was like a year and a half ago.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_01: It was May.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_01: It was right about my birthday of last year that I started.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_01: I remember so scared when it went out.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_01: I thought, who am I to do a podcast?
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_01: And is anyone gonna listen?
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_01: And I remember kept saying, Is anyone gonna listen?
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_01: And that was my protecting myself.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_01: Like if one person listens, it's enough.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_01: And you know, I think about 10,000 downloads a month, which is not a lot.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_01: But for an independent podcast, it's great for my business.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_01: And I would say 80% of people come to me, go, I found you from your podcast.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_01: That makes me so happy because, like you, you're doing your work, I love I put one out every week since I started, but I I love listening to podcasts, and I feel like it's also a great place to get to know somebody.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_01: Like my audience now knows who you are versus behind a screen, they don't know who you are.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_01: And I love Instagram, but it's very tailored.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_01: So it allows them to get to know you.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_01: So it's it's good to hear that you know, podcasts do allow you to, I think, dream.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_00: And that's where I feel like I really connected with you was listening to your podcast.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_00: I was like, I understand her.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_00: She's allowing me to show up and put the not so pretty sides out or and step out and have confidence.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_00: And so if I yeah, if you didn't put your podcast out, I don't know, you know, if we would be here right now and I probably would just be an Instagram picture.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's gone.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_00: And then, yeah, and then who knows if I would have seen it.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, because of the stupid algorithm.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_01: That I mean no, but guess what, guys?
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_01: Everything makes sense, right?
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_01: So I think that's the best thing is listen to podcasts.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_01: I think that's I agree with you.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_01: I think they're wonderful to get you to think out of the box who you enjoy.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_01: So this is when I mess with you a little bit.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna ask you your favorite peptide.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_01: Um if that you can answer that at the end if you want to.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_01: If you were to be a peptide and describe yourself as a peptide, and I'll tell you mine after because I thought about it because that's what we're gonna do tomorrow with the coaches.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_01: If you were to describe yourself as one peptide, what peptide would you be?
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_00: Oh, like an existing one or a brand new one?
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's actually you could if you want to do a brand new one.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say existing, but whatever you want to do, you could create one.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_01: Create one?
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_01: So whatever you think.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_00: I think maybe one that kind of boosts your own confidence.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_00: Like let the natural side of you come out.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_00: Oh, I like this.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_00: Because I feel like that is such a big thing for my story.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_00: Is I put myself in a box for so many years that I played so small.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_00: And so I feel like something that kind of unleashes it because there's like Celank and CMAC that help with your concentration and anxiety, or you know, there's there's thousands of peptides.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_00: So one that could really let the real you shine.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_01: You know, I think sometimes I've heard through GLPs because it changes the chemical makeup of your brain, when people start getting off their SSRs, they start coming back to themselves and going, oh my gosh, and I'm different, right?
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_01: Like their brain is different.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_01: The inflammation goes down.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're happy.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_01: A lot of you say they're so much happier, and so I think there is definitely, and I wouldn't be surprised in the future if there is a peptide that can really unlock more parts of our brain.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_00: I I fully believe that.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_00: Like I can say that peptides really have changed my life, and I could not be more thankful that I found them and kind of dove in and didn't let, you know, little comments here and there of like, oh, they're not natural or you know, they're not safe.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_01: And oh, I love it.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_01: I'm like, bring it on.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_00: I'm like, well, neither probably is a supplement that you're getting that you don't know what's in it, but we're not gonna talk about that.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_01: It's so fun.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_01: I actually, I actually like it now.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_01: And I was like, you in the beginning, I was a little bit cautious.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_01: And then I think where I am now, it's just like when someone asks what I do, because the industry feels so I hate the word yucky, but because of what it looks like online, I have a hard time saying, you know, I'm like, oh, peptide coach sounds like is every Joe Schmo being a pet?
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_01: And I have to say, oh, my company started before the craze, and I'm like, oh shut up, Stephanie.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_01: Okay, I kind of talked through.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_01: So I'll end it and I'll let you know what peptide I would be.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_01: Maybe this will surprise people, but I would be Mats C.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_01: Oh, I could see that though.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_01: I'm Matsy because I'm definitely not for everyone.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_01: I'm spicy.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_01: I could give you a histamine response if it doesn't work for you.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_01: But I'm a healer, and I feel like Matsy done the right way at the right time in your peptide journey, I think, is one peptide that really changed my life.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_01: I mean, one of many changed my life, but it gives me so much more energy and my blood work is different.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_01: I feel so good, and I I look forward to every time I get to do my mitochondria reset, which I'm in right now.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_01: Matsy, I get to start in like a week.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_01: Um, but I also, you have to be very what's the right word I want to say with Matsy.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_01: You have to, for me, when I take it, I have to be very conscious of what I'm taking, and I know it's powerful on me.
