- 0:06Not in England today. This is the first time the
- 0:11Mindsets Podcast has been on tour.
- 0:14For those of you that are watching on YouTube, check this
- 0:15out for a set. If you're not watching on
- 0:17YouTube, get over to YouTube. Check this out for a set
- 0:21everyone. Called Angus 7 new back garden.
- 0:22Yeah, I wish this was my back garden.
- 0:25Charles is with me. Snuck in the luggage.
- 0:28How you doing? Look how sad I've got.
- 0:30I know and you've actually you're flexing on a new watch
- 0:33strap tan. Yeah, but I'm not going to get
- 0:35it out. No, it's not.
- 0:36Not quite what I've got on my right wrist anyway.
- 0:40Yeah, today we've got a slightly different episode because we're
- 0:42we're on the continent and we're going to be talking about a few
- 0:46different things as usual. And we've got some new elements
- 0:50to this episode, which I'm looking forward to.
- 0:51Exciting. Yeah.
- 0:53Now one of the other things we do need to talk about, there's a
- 0:55few things that have happened recently, but we need to roll
- 0:57back a few weeks and talk about our predictions.
- 1:01We're not very good at this. Nope.
- 1:03Although I am better than you. That is frustrating on so many
- 1:06levels. Yeah, so we're talking about
- 1:07Wimbledon here. Our Wimbledon predictions were
- 1:09terrible, yes, and we didn't really get very close with the
- 1:12women we did. Say, though, that Wimbledon is
- 1:15notorious for being unpredictable.
- 1:17That is true. And it was very unpredictable
- 1:20with a lot of the. I tried to be unpredictable as
- 1:22well. Do you not remember with women
- 1:24somewhere for six seed. Oh nice.
- 1:25And she didn't do very well. But yeah, a lot of the the top
- 1:28seeds went early rounds. Yes.
- 1:31However, I won in my prediction. We knew it was going to be the
- 1:34final that we thought. And yeah, our Caraz did not take
- 1:36it home this line. And there we go.
- 1:39Then we've had other things happen.
- 1:41We've actually very recently watched the women's The
- 1:45Lionesses. Shout out to the Lionesses.
- 1:47Congratulations. As far as we're aware so far,
- 1:49and I know that by posting, by the time this gets posted it
- 1:53might be a different story, but what panel shootout against
- 1:57Sweden? That was amazing, wasn't it?
- 1:59I first of all, coming back from 2 nil down yeah crazy unreal
- 2:02yeah all the way through extra time started to possibly look
- 2:05like the better team yeah and then we went into the panel
- 2:07shootout and it was. A lot of penalty.
- 2:10It was a lot of penalties. It was stressful anyway because
- 2:13we were obviously on a feed streaming that wasn't working
- 2:17well, so we're a little bit behind.
- 2:19That was stressful in itself, but it was a stressful penalty
- 2:21shootout. Adding the fact that we are
- 2:23English and so we are used to losing in penalties and we're
- 2:26used to losing in the men. The men are used to losing.
- 2:30Yeah, that's. So bad.
- 2:31So much more faith in the Lionesses.
- 2:33If we go to a penalty shootout, again, in my head we've got a
- 2:36track record of winning on penalties, which is nice.
- 2:39So yeah, shout out to the Lionesses.
- 2:41Hopefully they take the EUR home as well as they did the.
- 2:43Defending champions as well. Exactly.
- 2:44But I mean, they they seem to win quite a lot.
- 2:46They're pretty good. I do think maybe attention might
- 2:49turn towards watching them and we might forget about the men a
- 2:51little bit. I.
- 2:52Hope so. Women's football is so good.
- 2:53Well, we haven't actually said where we are.
- 2:55Another country that is well known for success in the sport,
- 2:59football is Spain. We are currently in Majorca.
- 3:02It is lovely and warm here, which isn't so much reflects on
- 3:05the UK because the UK has been lovely recently as well.
- 3:09But yeah, we've got some some themes to the podcast, not just
- 3:13holiday but also Spanish. So we have things coming up.
- 3:16We've got some gifts to give each other the Spanish and we've
- 3:20also of course got Grind My Gears and some of those will be
- 3:23holiday, potentially Spanish related if we've got some
- 3:25Spanish haters that got involved.
- 3:28First, though, something that you and I have been doing while
- 3:32we've been out here is training which like some people really
- 3:36don't get on with. And we, we have spoken about
- 3:39offseason training in one of the more recent episodes, but
- 3:41holiday training for you, what does that look like?
- 3:46I think I've changed a lot over the last couple of years because
- 3:51I like to have routine and I like to train and if I'm
- 3:55training for something, I don't necessarily want my holiday to
- 3:58get in the way of it. And if you can't plan your
- 4:01holiday around events or competitions, sometimes you do
- 4:05have to train on holiday if you want to be in your best position
- 4:08when you come and compete. So I used to always want to
- 4:11train and train as much as I possibly could whilst I was on
- 4:14holiday. Especially when you have a
- 4:15little bit more time, you're a bit more relaxed.
- 4:18I love training in warm weather as well because it just reduces
- 4:21down your your warm up time by like 75% because you're already
- 4:25warm and sweaty when you get into.
- 4:27The I haven't thought about that actually.
- 4:28It's a good one, yeah, so, so good.
- 4:31But I think over the last of years I'm just want to be a
- 4:35little bit more intuitive with my training, and if it doesn't
- 4:37necessarily fit with any of my training goals, then I'm not
- 4:40going to put any pressure on training.
- 4:42And I can understand why people, when they go on holiday, find it
- 4:45strange on the outside looking in, seeing people like us
- 4:49training when we do go away. But training for us is fun, so
- 4:53why would I not want to do something fun when I'm on
- 4:55holiday And I like to go and experience new gyms and new gym
- 4:58cultures and train in different ways and different styles.
- 5:01And yeah, I think it's a a personal preference thing, but I
- 5:04always like to do something or some way.
- 5:06I think for me, it's very much like I, I have a very difficult
- 5:10thing when I go away where I'm thinking I need to relax, I want
- 5:13my body to feel good. I want to do different
- 5:15activities that I don't have access to when I'm back at home.
- 5:18But then what I don't want is when I get home is to feel or or
- 5:22even when I'm away to feel guilty for what I've done.
- 5:25And so like doing a little bit of movement often case and
- 5:28thankfully it is beneficial towards training for our sport.
- 5:32Do some running the thing. That's going to do that
- 5:35everywhere and anywhere. Exactly.
- 5:36The thing that is really nice about running abroad as well as
- 5:39it's unfamiliar. The only thing is that sometimes
- 5:41that means you end up running at a hill you weren't expecting.
- 5:44The other thing that's nice is And for those of you that are
- 5:47watching, being able to get back and just jump into a pool is
- 5:50unreal. And I suck when I get home.
- 5:54But I, I do agree that it's something that I enjoy.
- 5:57It's something that I do want to do.
- 5:58And if I look at the trip that we're on where there's a group
- 6:01of us and we trained well, we've, we've run together, but
- 6:05we've also, we actually did a session a couple days ago versus
- 6:08last year. I went to Turkey with my
- 6:11girlfriend. And I remember asking you
- 6:13because I didn't want to fall behind for some session, like
- 6:15some sort of session to do. And I was up at stupid o'clock
- 6:17in the morning because it was very hot over there during the
- 6:20session. And I don't really know why I
- 6:23was doing that because I did. I basically trained everyday in
- 6:27the attempt to come back and not have lost any fitness.
- 6:30And I do regret that because I was actually just a bit
- 6:32uncomfortable everyday. I had to go away and have like a
- 6:35siesta, yeah, in the middle of the day, but not like a mini
- 6:37one, like a proper. One, I think if it's negatively
- 6:39impacting your holiday, then it maybe is not the best.
- 6:42Thing, but at the time I thought it was cool.
- 6:43Yeah, I was like, this is this I'm so cool.
- 6:46Like look at. Me, I think the, the also the
- 6:49thing you don't want to overlook is that having a week of
- 6:52training is so beneficial for your body and your mind to just
- 6:55decompress, get away from that whole environment that you spend
- 6:58so long in day-to-day anyway. Let your body chill, be in the
- 7:02water, get the vitamin D, eat good foods and just enjoy
- 7:06yourself. And when you come back to train,
- 7:08you will be revitalized. And I know that's, it's a bit
- 7:11hypocritical for me because I understand that that's way
- 7:13easier said than done. And you can very easily fall
- 7:16down the trap of feeling guilty when you're away and you're not
- 7:19training. And I've gone on holidays where
- 7:21I've specifically tried to find places to stay that are close to
- 7:25usually a good CrossFit gym. But now I'm a little bit more
- 7:29chilled and training isn't. Or training for competition is
- 7:32less of a priority for me. So I'm a little bit more
- 7:36chilled, but I always like to go and do some sort of exercise.
- 7:39I was. I'm a massive fan of finding
- 7:42good gyms aboard. I know you are because you've
- 7:44got how many? I think I'm probably now on 70
- 7:47CrossFit affiliates worldwide. That's sick.
- 7:50Yeah. Because on the time that I was
- 7:52going around Asia, did a, did a gap yard, I think I went to 34
- 7:58different gyms, but they were so different.
- 8:00Like some of those gyms it was like the only gym within a 50
- 8:04mile radius. Others it was like a.
- 8:06Huge random rated them, didn't you?
- 8:08Yeah, I did go around and rated it.
- 8:10Rate them, rate it. Yeah, I rate you rated them.
- 8:14It's not the same like I, I like to go and, and if it's a
- 8:17positive experience, at least I like to give a good Google
- 8:20review for these gyms that having owned a gym rely on good
- 8:24reviews and Google reviews for people to to kind of come and
- 8:28see your facility when they're also travelling.
- 8:30Have you ever been to a gym on the beach?
- 8:32No close to a beach. What do you think of them?
- 8:36With the with the weights on the, yeah.
- 8:37The weights is literally on the sand.
- 8:40I don't know if this is a gimmick and you know, it's,
- 8:43it's, it's, it looks great on social media, but is actually a
- 8:46practical functional gym. And also the training that I
- 8:49want to do is not conducive to rolling around in the sand.
- 8:53So I don't want to be doing burpees in the sand, that's for
- 8:56damn sure. I went to one out in Thailand,
- 8:59yeah. And it's probably, I think it's
- 9:01doing quite well right now because like you said, it could
- 9:03be seen as a bit of a gimmick. But like, is it an actual gym or
- 9:06is it like we've made these weights out of like, coconuts?
- 9:09They made the weights out of. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:11So it looked so cool. And I, I really appreciated the
- 9:16fact that they had designed this gym and like, they had the cable
- 9:19system, which was actually just a rope and a basket which you
- 9:22chucked it in and then you'd sit down on the ground and you
- 9:25don't. So it's like really primal but.
- 9:26Yeah, really primal, but all of it is completely annoying in the
- 9:30like. But there was sand on the floor.
- 9:33It's like. Sand on the floor.
- 9:33So when I was trying to squat, they have a plywood board that
- 9:36you can put down on the floor to like make it level.
- 9:39So that was fine. Then the benches, the thing that
- 9:42was most annoying about squatting and benching is that a
- 9:4520K plate is not cast iron. It is wood.
- 9:49So it is it's it's massive. It's about this thick.
- 9:52We're talking like almost half a meter and then the radius is
- 9:56very similar. So it's just ginormous and like,
- 9:59lobbing that around and then moving that around is a bit
- 10:01weird On the bar. The thing that I didn't think of
- 10:05is when you lie down on a bench, you're just staring at the sun.
- 10:08That's quite frustrating. You have no retina.
- 10:14But also, yeah, the range of motion with something that is
- 10:18rope on a pulley system, it's not like you can move it to to
- 10:21fit you. It's like you sit down and
- 10:23you're like, OK, cool, I'm doing quarter reps and that's what
- 10:26I've got today. But as a place to train?
- 10:29Cool, right, very cool. Probably a one off.
- 10:31Like I wouldn't get on with it if it was my day-to-day
- 10:33training. But again, that's the variety
- 10:35thing, which you wouldn't and the novelty that you wouldn't
- 10:37naturally get to do when you're at home.
- 10:39So it's why not go and training somewhere like that?
- 10:41And I what I also like is the different cultures of gyms, like
- 10:45out here. I mean, it's a Western place, so
- 10:48it's still quite consistent, but you do have the nicheness and
- 10:51where we trained the other day, you're surrounded by paddle
- 10:53courts, which is so cool. Again, going back to Asia, a lot
- 10:56of the places had like rings in them for Muay Thai training.
- 11:01Again, crazy. And then you go to other places
- 11:03which are very athletic dominant and they've got tracks in the
- 11:06gym. More like specific equipment for
- 11:09track training. That's one of my favorite things
- 11:11about travelling and trying to get some gym in.
- 11:13I think the one, and it's a bit more nerdy, but the thing that
- 11:16I've loved seeing as as I've travelled around different
- 11:19places and visiting different gyms, 1 is not just like the gym
- 11:22and training culture, but it's a great way to actually meet other
- 11:25people, especially in CrossFit gyms where communities is the
- 11:29kind of the cornerstone. You chat to people and they give
- 11:31you recommendations and they help you out.
- 11:33And when I was travelling by myself earlier last year, had
- 11:36people inviting me back to theirs for food and that kind of
- 11:39it. So it's a really nice way to
- 11:41meet other people. But the other thing is also
- 11:43seeing how different gyms in different areas and places coach
- 11:47differently and deliver basically the product that I was
- 11:50delivering in my own gym, but seeing how they would do it and
- 11:53their kind of adaptation of it. And sometimes it wasn't great.
- 11:57Sometimes it's really good. And you can steal different
- 11:59things and see different things. And that's, that's one of the
- 12:01things and the beauty of being able to go and train and travel
- 12:04and see different places. So from like a, an actual
- 12:07business perspective, from my, my point of view, it was nice to
- 12:09see that. But yeah, come on.
- 12:12I love training. You love training.
- 12:14Obviously we're going to do some sort of fitness whilst we're on
- 12:16holiday. If you don't want to do fitness
- 12:18when you're on holiday, don't do fitness like.
- 12:21Other big topic attached to fitness You can't out train a
- 12:24bad diet. Yes.
- 12:25So what do you do on holiday? Because for those that haven't
- 12:29experienced the Maxibon, I was introduced to this when I when I
- 12:34arrived at Majorca and the boys were already here and they had
- 12:36discovered the Maxibon, which is essentially half Ice Cream
- 12:40Sandwich. Yeah, half chalk ice.
- 12:43Yeah. It's like whatever's in the
- 12:44inside of the sandwich is just covered by chocolate.
- 12:46Yeah, they're unreal. They're very good.
- 12:48And you have 1/4. Like minimum requirement,
- 12:52minimum requirement, you have to have, well, ice cream.
- 12:55You have to have three ice creams per day minimum when
- 12:57you're on holiday if it's if the weather's good.
- 13:00Yeah, which I mean, it's been great.
- 13:02Yeah, 100%, that's correct. But we're going to talk about
- 13:04that. What is excessive?
- 13:06Because I when I go away, I find when I'm in a hot country I
- 13:09actually do tend to eat less. Always, Yeah.
- 13:11So do you come? Do you, like me, tend to come
- 13:13back from a summer holiday lighter?
- 13:17I feel like I definitely, well I think I lose weight because I
- 13:23probably don't stay on top of protein intake as a priority
- 13:26which I would normally be doing when I'm back in a normal
- 13:29routine. But again, my opinion and my
- 13:34ability to have a more positive relationship with eating whilst
- 13:39I'm away is, is much better than it probably previously was.
- 13:43And and something like this where when you're out of
- 13:46routine, you have less control over what you're consuming.
- 13:49And something like that stresses lots of people out.
- 13:51It used to stress me out way more than it currently does.
- 13:54But you kind of just go with the flow and I think you just
- 13:57basically have to have the self-control to not be mental.
- 14:01And I'm joking like, oh, I'll have 3 ice creams a day.
- 14:04I probably have actually been having three ice creams a day
- 14:06minimum. I'd like to see what that total
- 14:08consumption across the week was. But I'm also not eating stupid
- 14:13stuff around it. And like we're eating very well
- 14:17for breakfast. We, we have good protein at
- 14:19breakfast. We have good carb at breakfast.
- 14:21We're eating lots of fruits as well.
- 14:23So like in and around it. We're not not doing anything
- 14:26crazy. And also like, one week isn't
- 14:28going to ruin the progress that I've been making for however
- 14:31many weeks of routine and training and good diet I've been
- 14:35having elsewhere. I think one thing that has been
- 14:37so nice, and it is nice on most holidays is breakfast always
- 14:42tends to have quite a lot of fruit in it and the fruit tastes
- 14:44so good, so much better. But then lunch is often like a
- 14:47sandwich with good salamis and me, it's local, that kind of
- 14:50thing. That's so good.
- 14:51And I think the reason I always am on the holiday, I'm like, why
- 14:55do I not do this at home? Like it's the modern era.
- 14:59I can get this, yeah, but it just tastes different.
- 15:02It tastes different. But also the time.
- 15:04I have time. Yeah, at home I don't have time.
- 15:07I have things to be doing. I have work to be.
- 15:08I have everything. So.
- 15:09Much more, yeah. So much more leisurely, isn't
- 15:11it? And you can just sit and eat in
- 15:13the sun. And I think something that we've
- 15:15been doing as well, it's like we just eat really intuitively.
- 15:17It's like, if I'm not hungry, I'm not going to eat.
- 15:19And there's no pressure on that because you know you're going to
- 15:22be chilling by the pool or down by the beach.
- 15:24Your next meal is like 5 minute walk away, probably less when
- 15:28you're by the pool. So it's like you can just be a
- 15:30little bit more intuitive, you can just be a bit more chilled.
- 15:32And I think that's actually, we probably weren't going to talk
- 15:36about it, but another thing that I really get a lot out of when
- 15:39I'm on holiday is my sleep because I'm not waking up super
- 15:43early to go and coach classes and I don't have any pressure in
- 15:47the evenings. My sleep is just way more
- 15:49consistent. And also here, obviously there's
- 15:52a dog barking in cars going off and down the road.
- 15:53It's basically silent at night. So the sleep is good air
- 15:57conditioned room. Like I get so much out of
- 16:00sleeping when I'm on holiday. So when I get home I can
- 16:02actually be refreshed and and ready to train again.
- 16:05I would say that typically that's true.
- 16:08And when I was more more recently away on a different
- 16:11trip, I definitely got a lot more sleep and the air con, like
- 16:15you said, was a massive factor In the UK.
- 16:16It sucks when it's hot and there's no air con.
- 16:19I would say this trip I probably had less sleep, but that's more
- 16:23because I'm in that almost like, you know, when you're young and
- 16:27you suddenly realize I don't have to go to bed, so you don't.
- 16:31So like I have been just not going to bed for no reason and
- 16:34then still getting up early to like run or train or whatever or
- 16:38like I can hear someone else's up and I have FOMO.
- 16:40So I don't want to miss out. I don't want to.
- 16:42I don't want to come down and like everyone be like that
- 16:44watermelon was so good this morning.
- 16:46That would honestly ruin my day. Yeah, for sure.
- 16:49So there is that. But.
- 16:50One day up late watching Vines. Yeah, literally like number of
- 16:55vines. We didn't do that.
- 16:57No, what one thing, and I feel like this is leading us down as
- 17:03a road that that does quite annoy me, is when you go on
- 17:09holiday and you go out for dinner through the week.
- 17:13Lovely experience, totally different cuisine, but it is the
- 17:18same menu in every single restaurant.
- 17:22And I just get bored of having to pick something different for
- 17:25the sake of picking something different.
- 17:27And I don't know if there's a way around that.
- 17:30You kind of just have to, you have to accept, and this is
- 17:33really uncultured, but you have to accept that you have two
- 17:35cultured meals per week. You have probably two or three
- 17:39pizzas. Yeah, you definitely are going
- 17:41to have some burgers and you find a good place that does good
- 17:43chips and then you kind of gravitate.
- 17:45I don't know. Do do you feel guilty not eating
- 17:48the local cuisine when you go on holidays?
- 17:50100% yeah, I'm I'm the same. I feel so shameful going into a
- 17:54place where they're obviously speaking English for me and then
- 17:58I'm also slapping in the face again by saying I want a burger.
- 18:02I don't want catch of the day. Yeah, right on the ocean.
- 18:05I would like that. Pizza.
- 18:06Fish. Yeah.
- 18:06Yeah. So I got to eat what you got to
- 18:09eat. Eat what you want.
- 18:10I know, but eat what you like. I just, I know that generally
- 18:15Brits feel hated and I actually think it's quite rightly so when
- 18:18we go abroad because we are quite lazy in terms of doing
- 18:21anything to help, yes. No I do get that, but I have
- 18:24been practicing my Spanish. Yes.
- 18:26So a point where? I'd say I'm close to flowing.
- 18:29Would you be bold enough to demonstrate a little bit of
- 18:31Spanish for those at home? Los ciento, which means I'm
- 18:36sorry, sorry. OK, how not?
- 18:38Which is pretty much what you need if you didn't know that Los
- 18:41ciento. Los ciento.
- 18:43You're playing with a ball on the beach and you're hitting
- 18:44people in the head left, right and centre all you need.
- 18:48No, it's no, no locals were harmed in the creation of this
- 18:52holiday. However, Yeah, talking of things
- 18:57that have pissed people off, such as being hit by a ball, of
- 19:01course. Grind my gears.
- 19:03I have to get the phone out for this one.
- 19:05So we do have some submissions from those that we're actually
- 19:07with. There's some others that have
- 19:09been brought up in recent weeks and I think are very valid and
- 19:13we have some holiday related ones.
- 19:16Do you want to kick us off or do you want me to?
- 19:18Start. I would go for an anonymous one.
- 19:20Yeah, that was holiday related. OK, not fitness related, but
- 19:26people repacking their suitcases because they're over the limit
- 19:32at the front of check in. So you're not only well, you're
- 19:36just inconveniencing everyone else in the line just because
- 19:39you couldn't be smart enough to pack it in the right sense that
- 19:44you're over the limit that you get given.
- 19:47Yeah, that's fair because you're just, you're just wasting your
- 19:49own stuff. But also like my one question
- 19:51with that is what are you supposed to do?
- 19:52But I'm also like, is it it's the airline that you you're more
- 19:57grinding your gears with? Yeah, because if I go and I'm
- 19:59over the limit, I'm not paying extra.
- 20:03Yeah. So I'm repacking, I'm shuffling
- 20:05something. I'm finding something that I can
- 20:07get out of that bag so I don't have to pay for extra.
- 20:09I'm making a scene and this happened relatively recent.
- 20:14So don't shoot the message, I'm just passing on an anonymous
- 20:16grime idea. OK, that's fine.
- 20:19I'm just to explain, airlines have actually been called on
- 20:22their bullshit recently and the laws have changed in the EU
- 20:25where for those that know, when you go on a plane, you have one
- 20:28under seat bag and one overhead bag.
- 20:30And they've started charging you now for the overhead bag.
- 20:32And it used to just be free. Like it's like you're on our
- 20:34plane, you're paying for that, bring stuff.
- 20:39They are changing law. I don't know when it's changing
- 20:41back, but currently you still can't get away with it.
- 20:44So obviously I'm trying to one strap the bag, whatever.
- 20:47I did take a cabin bag once that was too heavy and I had no, I
- 20:51had no whole luggage, nothing. It was too heavy.
- 20:54And I opened it and I said to the woman like it is literally
- 20:58just clothes. So like I can put them on and
- 21:01then we can just go through because I'm 2 kilos over.
- 21:04That's actually not that much in terms of clothes for me.
- 21:06So I can just do that. But like that's what it is.
- 21:09And she was like, it's too heavy.
- 21:12And I was like, OK, but you're agreeing to what's going on here
- 21:16while I am in front of the entire check in queue and I
- 21:19became that person and I had to wear 10 T-shirts past her to
- 21:23then. Put them back in your bag.
- 21:24Literally I did it right behind her just so she was aware and it
- 21:28was annoying. You're that guy I just like.
- 21:30This is This is what Grime McGee is this.
- 21:32This Grime McGee is about you. You're confident enough.
- 21:36How much? Did she get out of that?
- 21:37Yeah. What did she get out of that?
- 21:39She's just doing her job, it's not her fault.
- 21:43There's doing your job, and then there's like, doing the most.
- 21:47Never do the most if there's one thing you can take away from
- 21:50this forecast. And yeah, true, Another thing
- 21:54holiday related and luggage related is people at the luggage
- 21:58belt that aren't equipped enough to get their own luggage.
- 22:02This is also a fitness thing actually.
- 22:03If you're not strong enough to get your own bag off without it
- 22:07causing problems, don't send that person.
- 22:10I don't know if I've seen that. Oh, I've seen someone struggle
- 22:12enough to like they've had to get help.
- 22:14They've knocked other people's bags.
- 22:16They've not really. Yeah, it was quite bad.
- 22:19That's. Functional fitness they and
- 22:20putting your bag in the overhead locker.
- 22:22There's also a trend at the moment where people are filming
- 22:25each other trying to get their luggage off the thing as
- 22:28nonchalantly as possible and I'm so here for it, it's so good.
- 22:32We should have checked bags, then we're going to have a great
- 22:34time. With yeah, one from me.
- 22:37Yeah, let's go. Fair enough, people who've got
- 22:40all the time in the world on holiday, but gas walkers, which
- 22:44is what I called them, is people that walk.
- 22:47You've created a term. I've I've made a term and it's
- 22:49needed. This is not just on holiday, but
- 22:52people that walk along a road or on a pavement or something and
- 22:56just feel the need to take all of the space up and and what's
- 23:00annoying is expand yes or someone might come the other
- 23:02way. So they obviously tuck in and
- 23:04then they re expand and. As you're trying to.
- 23:07Pass. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:09That's walkers. I, I, anyone who's not got the,
- 23:13I don't know, spatial awareness to understand what's going on
- 23:16around them. And just like walking that I
- 23:19can't. Goes for people who just stop as
- 23:21well. There should be, like AI said,
- 23:24this. Before on the podcast, there
- 23:25should be some sort of, I don't know, driving test for walking
- 23:28on the pavement. Why?
- 23:31Are you stopping and not looking behind you?
- 23:33You did that in your. Car first.
- 23:35Imagine you did that in the car. No, you need insurance to walk
- 23:38on the pavement sometimes. This one also was was, and I'm
- 23:43going to do this enormously was sent in a couple of episodes
- 23:46back, but we missed it, OK, It was when we were doing the gym X
- 23:50or fitness X. So it's kind of a grind, my gear
- 23:52as well, but jogging on the spot when you're out running when you
- 23:58have to stop. So let's say you're running
- 24:00along, you get to the traffic lights, it's red for you.
- 24:03So you jog on the spot. Is that a grammar gears?
- 24:07Is that an ick? Is that a problem?
- 24:09Do. You know what?
- 24:10You do it, don't you? I have no I have done it.
- 24:13The person who said it, I was like, Oh no, I can't admit that.
- 24:16I also have done that. I think I don't.
- 24:18I don't know if there's anything wrong with it.
- 24:20I don't think there's anything really wrong with it.
- 24:22But it's just icky. But like, let's take a backward
- 24:26step. What is the point of it?
- 24:30I would argue. Is it keeping warm?
- 24:34For the amount of time you have to wait for a light to go red
- 24:36before you can cross quite often, or just the car to go
- 24:39past I don't think. That's enough for you to if you.
- 24:42Stop moving. I don't think you're going to
- 24:44cause a problem for yourself. I would also agree.
- 24:47I think the science is fairly solid on that one.
- 24:49Yeah. So I I'm going to.
- 24:51But is it like I want to keep moving, so maybe I'm continuing
- 24:56to, I don't know, burn calories whilst I'm working out?
- 25:00Or is it I don't want to lose the rhythm?
- 25:02That's for me. I I just like if I stop, I lose
- 25:05my rhythm. It's not going to do without
- 25:07keeping, especially if. You've got like a song on.
- 25:09That's good because like if you've got a song on, and this
- 25:12is a tip for anyone, if you don't already, find a playlist
- 25:17that is similar to your cadence for memes per minute because
- 25:19that's really helpful. You can then just run and you'll
- 25:22find that your feet hit on the beat.
- 25:24So if you do that and then you just come to a stop, it's quite
- 25:27weird. Yeah.
- 25:28Yeah. So I'd, I'd, I'll be honest, if
- 25:30I'm going to do it then, but to not kill my momentum or whatever
- 25:33it is, I'm probably just going to tap my feet.
- 25:36I'm not going to get the knees up.
- 25:38I'm not going to be looking like I'm in a 1980s fitness video
- 25:41that you watch at home. But yeah, I don't think I'd go
- 25:43as far as to say as an ick, OK. I think it's acceptable, but
- 25:46like, as long as you understand why you're doing it.
- 25:50But I can also appreciate that it could be an ick for some.
- 25:54People, if someone came up to me and said they hated it, I'm not
- 25:56going to argue with them. If someone said to me they do
- 25:58it, I'm not going. To fire.
- 25:59Yeah, yeah, it's one of those ones.
- 26:00I'm in the middle. We're on the Yeah, we're on the
- 26:03desk. Yeah, OK.
- 26:05I'm going to do the. It's not fitness related, but
- 26:07I've got one more. You know, when you take a photo,
- 26:12you know, I want to share it. This person's like, hey, can you
- 26:15just share that photo? You send me, I'll AirDrop it.
- 26:20They don't have an Apple Android.
- 26:24What happens next? What do you do in that?
- 26:26I actually, what do you do in that?
- 26:27I'm fluent in English and I don't know what comes next in
- 26:30the conversations. I'll just AirDrop it.
- 26:32I don't have an Apple. Wait, how does the world work?
- 26:37I think because the next thing is like, do I?
- 26:40Is WhatsApp the best thing? HD WhatsApp.
- 26:42Yeah, HD. Actually people who don't send
- 26:44photos in HD on WhatsApp. That really riles me up.
- 26:48What am I going to do with it? Well, you know, 4 pixels in a
- 26:51freaking you should. Always be more than me.
- 26:53Why does WhatsApp not just send it in a Yeah yeah.
- 26:55Yeah, yeah, maybe it's. Like let me opt out.
- 26:57Yeah, yeah, I want, I don't, I don't want to then have.
- 27:01Some ways have to opt. Yeah, yeah.
- 27:02Just let me opt out, yeah. Because it's also like it's not
- 27:04obvious. I understand.
- 27:05I've had it recently with uncles and aunts who definitely don't
- 27:09listen to this so I can say it, but are completely technology
- 27:12illiterate. And I'll be like please can you
- 27:14send that scam in HD? And they're like, I have sent it
- 27:19in HD and I'm like, can you explain what you did to send it
- 27:23in HD? They were just like, I took a
- 27:25photo of it and I sent and I'm like, can you see the HD button?
- 27:28They're like, yes, it's there. So it's in HD and I'm like, no,
- 27:30you've got to press it and it goes blue.
- 27:33But like fair. That's what's app's fault but.
- 27:37Nothing against Android users, but that is a barrier.
- 27:40And what I don't understand is I swear when I was in year 7
- 27:43sending my favorite song to my mates on my Bluetooth phone, it
- 27:46was so easy and we all technically had androids there.
- 27:48So like, why has it become so hard?
- 27:51Who knows? Yeah, I've got one more.
- 27:52OK, let's go. This has annoyed me since I have
- 27:56ever watched the Olympics. So the Olympics starts and what
- 28:02happens before the Olympic starts?
- 28:03All of the athletes get invited to the opening ceremony, and
- 28:07it's a great, it's the greatest day of some of their lives, so
- 28:10good to watch. But some of the events have
- 28:13already started. OK.
- 28:15Yeah. So like some events you can
- 28:18watch on TV and they've started two or three days before the
- 28:20opening ceremony. And what confuses me is, is
- 28:23there a different committee that does the opening ceremony dates
- 28:27and then the competition dates and they just.
- 28:29Don't talk. Yeah, that for sure wouldn't
- 28:30surprise me. Because if you've got a
- 28:32competition starting and you know you need to do an opening
- 28:35ceremony before it, surely you go, well, let's move this a few
- 28:38days forward so that it's before the start of that.
- 28:41Competition there must, there has to be a reason, there has to
- 28:44be, there has to be like. But it's so consistent it
- 28:46happens every time. It's always the weird events
- 28:49though that no one watches. Yeah.
- 28:52Because I I can't I can't name an I know they start pre opening
- 28:57ceremony. Actually maybe I have to retract
- 29:01that statement because the some of the like the no I don't think
- 29:04some of the longer like track events happen.
- 29:06Track starts way later. No track tracks.
- 29:08Quit. I was thinking something like
- 29:10the decathlon or the heptathon where they go multi day but
- 29:12that's always. There are some things that start
- 29:14before I'm pretty sure that are wrapped up within a week.
- 29:17Yeah, but they just. But the ceremony, yeah, the
- 29:19ceremony. I there must be a if someone I
- 29:22can't tell you an event that starts pre Olympic.
- 29:25No, I, I in my head. Archery comes to mind.
- 29:27I have no idea. What shooting events?
- 29:29Or do you think it's then access to venue they need space?
- 29:33It's the Olympics. Everyone's clearing their
- 29:35calendar for the Olympics. The Olympics wants to use my
- 29:38house for anything. Have it, have it.
- 29:40We won't cancel a podcast, but like, you know.
- 29:43Yeah, that is a weird one. Yeah, if anyone actually knows
- 29:46the answer to that, please actually message us.
- 29:48Let us know in the comments because that would be.
- 29:50I think it's going to be something really logical and
- 29:51we're going to say. That would be quite a fun fact.
- 29:53If it's not though, yeah, like a good pub quiz question.
- 29:55Yeah, maybe it's a tradition. Yeah, talking of traditions,
- 29:59we're not going to make a new one, but we've got something
- 30:02different. We've well for all of our future
- 30:04tour ever. So we're going to be doing this.
- 30:07So what we've done is we've gone to that.
- 30:09Was a good bridge across. I'm glad that you and everyone
- 30:12listening to this now will appreciate that we've gone to a
- 30:16local delicacy supermarket. So in Spain, if you don't know,
- 30:21Mercadonna is the place to be like Lidl, I have my
- 30:26appreciation. You are very well aware of my
- 30:28appreciation for the little Audi back in the UK, but it's just
- 30:31not on the same level as a Mercadonna.
- 30:33So we have gone roaming in Mercadonna.
- 30:35We've got each other surprise things, that bit of culture that
- 30:38we may not have been having on those other nights to try and we
- 30:42don't know. I still haven't actually looked
- 30:43to Charles Wright. So down there somewhere is
- 30:47something you. Want you want your gift first?
- 30:50Well, you did say that there's kind of a multiple element I've
- 30:53done. Should we sandwich it?
- 30:55Yes. OK, so that does mean you. 1st
- 30:57right, I, I tried to be really thoughtful and I was like 1 I
- 31:02want to get something that we can eat and not waste.
- 31:04That was my, the forefront of my don't know why I'm justifying
- 31:07it. Two, I was like, what would
- 31:10Angus actually go for? And I was like something that's
- 31:13just ridiculously high in protein for the sake of being
- 31:16high in protein. So the first one, bear with me.
- 31:19If you're if you're still listening and not watching on
- 31:21you. Jet across to you, across to
- 31:23YouTube because I have spoons for this one.
- 31:24Oh wow, 2 spoons so we can both try.
- 31:26Lovely as a spoon. For you.
- 31:27Thank you very much. So I've gone for a protein
- 31:30Jelly, right, which I'm not going to that's.
- 31:33New I've not seen protein Jelly before.
- 31:34Yeah, I've never seen protein Jelly before, so we might now
- 31:38look at it and go, what's the point in making a protein and
- 31:40then it's around my gear. But I'll give them to you to
- 31:43open up. Thank you, I've got an
- 31:44interesting story while I do this.
- 31:46You're going to pronounce the name first.
- 31:47Oh. Proteinas nice Sabor frutos
- 31:52silvestres perfect Spanish. I'm not going to lie, that's
- 31:55actually banging good Spanish. I was proud of that.
- 31:59Nomi gusto. Oh, Cerro pesento asukar. 0
- 32:05sugar, yeah. So it can't be good cuarenta
- 32:08calories, only 40 calories. Yeah, that's actually.
- 32:10Higher than I thought. For Jelly I don't know, but it's
- 32:13the protein. So, the funny story.
- 32:14I'm actually not that into Jelly, isn't it?
- 32:16Oh that's sad. 2 each. Is it maybe 1?
- 32:21So yeah, the the funnest story. Share 1 say.
- 32:25Sure. The funny story is that last
- 32:28year I got quite big on Jelly. It's a good good dessert because
- 32:32it is so low calorie. You can buy like 0 sugar, almost
- 32:350 calorie Jelly, that sweet thing after a meal that just
- 32:38puts the whole like hunger to bed.
- 32:40Yeah, I thought I'm going to be ahead of the game here.
- 32:44Thank you. Sorry, I was going.
- 32:45To mess on the I was going to get the package so I could see
- 32:47the the actual macros. I thought I'm going to
- 32:51revolutionize the protein game myself, and I had.
- 32:54So you invented this? Yeah.
- 32:56Yeah. So I had Clearway.
- 32:58Oh man, I thought, I'm going to mix that into some jet and it
- 33:01will become. What it becomes is powdery
- 33:04clearway in Jelly. And it tastes.
- 33:08Several vile. OK, so the thought was there,
- 33:10but there's actually someone doing it better than you.
- 33:13OK, so the initial thoughts. That's that's good.
- 33:20Really. I saw your eyes light up but
- 33:22it's it's only 10 grams. Hold on.
- 33:24Oh no, it's. So 10 grams per building.
- 33:27So it's very liquidy. It's like not liquid on the
- 33:30spoon. Yeah, it does look a bit I.
- 33:32I swallowed it like it was liquid.
- 33:34So this forest free flavour is very good but I'll be interested
- 33:37to you. Go for it.
- 33:38I want to know what your thoughts are in the after taste.
- 33:4010 grams in this little pot. 10 grams for 40 calories is very
- 33:44good do. You think let's see the I mean
- 33:46the after taste is probably because of the protein.
- 33:48Bear in mind that's 100 grams of protein for 400 calories.
- 33:53If I've done them, I've done the maths right?
- 33:54That's fine. No initial taste.
- 33:57That's great, isn't it? Yeah, it's a bit liquidy.
- 33:59Yeah, but after taste, is that going again?
- 34:01Oh no, no, no. Let the after taste hit.
- 34:03There's no after taste. Oh, it's it's very sweet.
- 34:06After taste was. Overly sweet because obviously
- 34:09fake sugar or sweeteners, but. That's gone down well, it's.
- 34:12Quite. Almost no, no, no.
- 34:14Yeah, I'm getting that now. That's the same as after you
- 34:18drink clear weight. Yeah, I can say that like almost
- 34:21more soapy really it's a bit soapy in the after taste.
- 34:24But it's I'm getting that now. Yeah.
- 34:26I think you've got more advanced taste buds than that.
- 34:28Really. Thank you.
- 34:28I was just going to go for it and play that off for.
- 34:32Those that worry about food waste, I will finish that yeah,
- 34:34because I'm. In and we're in a that shit.
- 34:37We're in a house full of hungry. Boys, now I've I've also gone.
- 34:40Food cool. Oh my goodness.
- 34:43So what we have here that looks like it's in two food waste bags
- 34:47is some pastries. Oh, now these are pronounced
- 34:52enfermadas. Thank you for not making me do
- 34:55that. Yeah.
- 34:55I mean, I'd love to see you look at well and try pronounce it,
- 34:58but this is a Spanish pastry. It is very light.
- 35:02It is essentially just sweet pastry and icing sugar.
- 35:07This podcast is going to make us famous for sure because people
- 35:09love watching people eat. Food.
- 35:11Oh so welcome to our mukbang guys.
- 35:13But I'll be interested genuine. I'm going to show this to the
- 35:15kids. You can buy these.
- 35:17You can buy these in little when it's the Spanish week, but they
- 35:19come in like packets of eight and they are quite doughy and
- 35:23dense. These ones are like fresh from
- 35:25Mcadonna's bakery and they are quite good.
- 35:27They're obviously not going to be as.
- 35:28Good as it's like the it's the sugar on the bottom.
- 35:30Yeah. Oh wow.
- 35:39That doesn't taste as good as I could ever, I'm going to be
- 35:41honest. There's something weird.
- 35:43There's something weird going on in this one, but so there's not
- 35:45that. That's not supposed to be there.
- 35:47That weird bit. But so if I can overlook that, I
- 35:50don't know how to ex explain or describe what's going on
- 35:53currently, but I don't dislike it and I can't.
- 35:57You can't dislike pastry. Hang on, this might this this is
- 36:02the the one thing that's going to cancel me?
- 36:05I truly believe pastry is overrated.
- 36:08OK, well, like. You name it, if you go, you go
- 36:11for your morning coffee and you get paste.
- 36:13Pastry is overrated. Almond croissant overrated.
- 36:18I'm going to have to fight you. Cinnamon.
- 36:20Generally overrated. OK, no now with Johanna.
- 36:23Chocola overrated so so I'm not. I'm not big into pastry anyway,
- 36:27but I don't hate this. I would eat this quite happily.
- 36:31What's annoying, right Looks how?
- 36:32Greasy it is, ma'am. Oh, I've just licked my fingers.
- 36:35What is that? I don't know, greatness.
- 36:39So I would generally say pastries as a whole of the
- 36:44nominal a run, a sweet, a sweet treat with a grade.
- 36:49However, on an individual basis, when you go through them, plain
- 36:53croissant, a pan of chocolate, they're all quite bad.
- 36:59Generally they're not. They're not great.
- 37:00They are overrated. I would say there are the
- 37:02exceptions though. I guess it depends where, when,
- 37:05environment there's so many factors.
- 37:07Anything, any pastry, like French style pastry that has got
- 37:10the like, custody thing in it, like a pan, whatever a pan of
- 37:15raisins got in there. Creme Pat.
- 37:16Or when it's called unreal, I'm here for it.
- 37:19But yeah, stuff that's more dry almond croissants, I love them.
- 37:22No, but the thing that annoys me is that they were designed to
- 37:26use fake things. No thank you.
- 37:30It's OK. No, no gratias.
- 37:32No, no, no, gratias bueno. We have to keep that in.
- 37:40We're going to have to. Keep that in I.
- 37:41Mean this is this is it. We're we're immersed in the
- 37:43culture and we've just returned down a great offer of taxi.
- 37:48I don't know if someone's booked a taxi, but I.
- 37:50Think so? We're not getting in a taxi.
- 37:53I hope you I don't know if you'll hear that.
- 37:55I'll try and make it so that you guys can hear that.
- 37:57The conversation basically went he said taxi 10 times and I said
- 38:01No 10 times and then he gave me the thumbs up and left.
- 38:05Anyway, pastries. Culture.
- 38:08Culture so pastries I would say yeah that there are the famous
- 38:12ones are overrated. The thing that annoys me about
- 38:14Armand croissants though is that they were designed to reuse
- 38:16stale croissants and like they taste so good but that kind of
- 38:20ruins them a bit for me maybe I mean.
- 38:22I'm just. I'm paying more for it.
- 38:25Yeah, that's a big issue. Yeah.
- 38:26And I it definitely does this depend on the establishment
- 38:29you're going to. Yeah, so en samadas actually let
- 38:32me rate the Jelly. OK, the Jelly.
- 38:34We're going out of 10. Yeah, I'm going to give that an
- 38:37A out of 10. Really think it's got very good
- 38:39macros that's gone high, very edible.
- 38:41Yeah, I would consider making that super cold, not frozen, but
- 38:46like super cold. Oh, that would be That was so.
- 38:48Good, change it up. En samadas, I would generally
- 38:52rate entomadas as like still probably not a go to pastry,
- 38:55Probably like a seven. Yeah, I would put that like a
- 38:58five. That that for me.
- 39:01I'm going to finish it, yeah. But like, I'm not going to be
- 39:04excited about it. Yeah, you're finishing it
- 39:05because it's the pastries like it's sugary.
- 39:09But yeah, I'd say it's I'd I'd agree with you there.
- 39:11I also, I don't want to be quoted on there, so I don't
- 39:13think anyone is going to be able to tell me I'm wrong that
- 39:17listens. But I do actually think that
- 39:19entomadas originate from the Spanish islands that were on
- 39:22really. So I I only have that reason to
- 39:25believe it is because it was a local pastry that somebody in my
- 39:27family used to get when they were very young in Ibiza before
- 39:30it became a sex pit. I wondered where that was going.
- 39:34Yeah. OK, Very good.
- 39:35Yeah. So we've got one more final one,
- 39:39the Yogo mix. I just saw this and I was like,
- 39:41you know what? It's kind of fun.
- 39:44This looks great. Yeah, doesn't it so explain it
- 39:47So discos, discos. I did try in the shop to
- 39:51pronounce that as discos because I thought it was Spanish, but
- 39:54then realized it was just discos.
- 39:55Moving in, we've essentially got Smarties and the thing that's
- 40:01slightly concerning is they've shown you the Smarties nice and
- 40:05clear packet here, but then they don't show you the yogurt.
- 40:08It's just white. I'm just assuming the yogurt is
- 40:10miscellaneous white yogurt. What do we want to say?
- 40:13OK, It's still down there. I think the only way of doing
- 40:17this, so this is if you, if you go from Miller Corners, this is
- 40:20the kind of situation we're looking at.
- 40:22There's only one way of doing it.
- 40:23I am a yogurt, A yogurt, a yogurt lid liquor.
- 40:27That's a tongue twister. Yeah.
- 40:30Do you spoon in gradually or do you flip the whole?
- 40:33Pot I'm a flip. I think I've become a flip.
- 40:36You don't listen to him. Well, I'm not going to deal.
- 40:38I'm a pod car. I'm not a complete side of that.
- 40:40When we start doing Patreon and people want the extra, then what
- 40:45they'll get. OK, I usually stir the yoghurt
- 40:47first, but I wish I hadn't admitted that I stir the yoghurt
- 40:50up a bit and then put the full Y.
- 40:53Just sometimes it has that watery bit on the top.
- 40:55I don't. Want.
- 40:55Then what are you doing when you put everything?
- 40:57Else I just don't. Want to look at it I?
- 41:00Just liquidy. This is.
- 41:02Yeah, this is. I'm hoping they're not Smarties.
- 41:05They're something different. Oh, they are.
- 41:08No, they are smarties. They're good smarties as well.
- 41:11They're really good smarties, Really.
- 41:13OK, what's the yoghurt flavour saying?
- 41:15The yoghurt flavour. Is tangy no.
- 41:18The yoghurt flavour is, I don't want to get them sued, but
- 41:21they've, they've done a very good job of copying Mueller
- 41:23here. It's just the consistencies,
- 41:25like you said, very liquidly. There is something else going
- 41:28on. And in fact, for those that have
- 41:30gone through the effort of watching on YouTube, I'm going
- 41:32to take this yoghurt to the camera.
- 41:35There's something going on in here and I, I hope you'll be
- 41:37able to see it. So the Smarties have started to
- 41:40lose their colour into the yoghurt.
- 41:42Oh. No.
- 41:43So have a look at that. Oh, here we go.
- 41:45Yeah, so bleeding. They're bleeding, which is
- 41:47creating a slightly different coloured yoghurt.
- 41:50The disco, the disk. There we go.
- 41:52The yogh mix this. Way.
- 41:53Anyway, I can see that you're excited.
- 41:55I am. I've got my spoon ready.
- 41:57There you go. Oh no, that doesn't look great,
- 41:59does it? Trust me, the Smarties, yeah,
- 42:02are quite incredible. I might buy a pack of those just
- 42:05for the Smarties. I like that a lot.
- 42:09Yeah, that's really good. Yeah, that's very good.
- 42:11Again, they we have been doing a podcast, it is about 26°.
- 42:15They haven't sour for a while. If it was colder the consistent
- 42:17maybe you better. Maybe I'm just going to go one
- 42:20with all the smarties basically, and then I'll move on.
- 42:23I want rating on this. I I'm going to say yeah.
- 42:26I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt.
- 42:28If it was colder, it'd be a little sticker, I think.
- 42:31I think I'm going to give that a nine out of 10.
- 42:35Wow, Yeah. I think is that category of
- 42:38yoghurt and something I've never seen before.
- 42:41I don't think it's a nine, OK, but it is.
- 42:45It's probably a solid 8 I'm thinking.
- 42:48On my levels of the closest thing I have to compare amola
- 42:51corner, the flavours top the top 2 flavours for me.
- 42:57Vanilla choco balls right is like there is no debate, it's
- 43:01the best elite. Then the next, my surprise
- 43:05people are making me something really boring is Strawberry.
- 43:08Oh the yeah, the jammy one. Yeah, the jammy.
- 43:09There were other flavours, really.
- 43:10There is an apricot one which or Peach, which is also quite good.
- 43:13But yeah, I would say that is better than vanilla chocca
- 43:16balls, personally. Wow.
- 43:19But it's it's still different to the jammy 1.
- 43:23So I can't take it better than that.
- 43:24So I I do think it's. Annoying.
- 43:25Wow, there you go. There we go.
- 43:27We've got one more thing to do. We do.
- 43:29Yeah. And again, cultural.
- 43:32We're doing a quiz this week so I have got a 10 question.
- 43:36Quick fire quick. Oh no.
- 43:37There are no multiple choice answers and we're starting easy.
- 43:42Let's use my phone. I have had to use his phone.
- 43:45And I haven't cheated. He hasn't because I put on the
- 43:47thing do no cheating. So you couldn't read any of the
- 43:50questions. And when you when you see my
- 43:51performance, you'll understand that.
- 43:54So we're going to start off theoretically very easy, OK?
- 43:57I just, I'm going to build up this with, if you haven't been
- 44:00listening to our previous episodes or been watching them,
- 44:03my track record for quizzes has not been the greatest.
- 44:06It's not been something to write home about it hasn't no so OK
- 44:10play along at home. Let us know again in the
- 44:13comments or write in tell us how many questions you so you want
- 44:15concise quick fire capital of Spain Madrid correct?
- 44:20Or I don't like this already. Colours in the Spanish flag.
- 44:24OK, do they go oh yellow is just going to sorry I know I said
- 44:27there was no mortal choice, but you do have this on some of
- 44:28them. OK, so does it go yellow, red,
- 44:31yellow or red, yellow, red? Red, yellow, red correct?
- 44:34Don't test my geography. Geography.
- 44:36Yeah, or my colour knowledge. Yeah, or my flag knowledge,
- 44:39they're in the same category. That is going to be a great
- 44:42clip. I was just going was the last.
- 44:45Time Spain on the men's World Football World Cup.
- 44:53Wait, I know this is not concise.
- 44:54Let me just do some maths quickly in my head.
- 44:58So essentially. I don't know what the year are.
- 45:01I'm not good with football. I'm going to, I'm just going to
- 45:03go quick for a hazard, a guess at like 2018. 2010 Really.
- 45:10Yeah, Good days with David Veer and pretty much the.
- 45:13Greats. The greats.
- 45:15Like I remember that Spanish team.
- 45:16What's the place in America where they have all the heads on
- 45:18the wall? They're not the wall, the Cliff.
- 45:21Mount Rushmore, Yes, the Mount Rushmore.
- 45:24Is that it? That's the that's.
- 45:25The question that shouldn't be Yeah, I'll give you the point
- 45:27for that. Let's hold you geography.
- 45:30OK, now recently we spoke about Alcaraz in the final we did
- 45:34Wimbledon. Another great tennis player that
- 45:37was Spanish. Go on Rafa.
- 45:39Indeed. What is the age difference
- 45:41between Rafael Nadal and Alcaraz?
- 45:44A quick fire. You're going to be impressed
- 45:46with my speed, I'm going to say. This is not fast. 21. 17 years.
- 45:51I was going to say 18 and bottled it.
- 45:53For a chance to redeem yourself. Always guess either of their
- 45:56ages. Alcaraz 22 correct.
- 46:01Nadal what? 40 No, no, no, no, no, no don't.
- 46:05Just guess what you think is right. 42414438.
- 46:11I'm going to find a a number in there somewhere that's under
- 46:14pressure 39. We'll take the average.
- 46:20I'm going to give you some options on this one.
- 46:22What is declared as the national sport of Spain?
- 46:27Is it football, tennis, golf or Badell?
- 46:32See, I know on the continent paddle is super popular.
- 46:36It's got to be football. It is football.
- 46:38Yeah, correct question number six.
- 46:41Name 3 Spanish golfers all time. Every single Spanish golfer has
- 46:48left my mind. Yeah.
- 46:51Oh no, Charles, this is so embarrassing.
- 47:01There's been some very successful, that's all helpful.
- 47:05Garcia. Yep.
- 47:06Sergio Garcia, great start. God, that was tough.
- 47:09I just, I could see him there's like really famous, one of the
- 47:14best ever cardigan wearer many years ago.
- 47:17You've got him on your list, don't you?
- 47:19So is he also Sergio? No, if it if you're thinking of
- 47:24the same person is what I think you're saying, then the 1st 2
- 47:28letters of their first name is correct.
- 47:31Like super famous, super famous. Like has a shape.
- 47:34The game of golf. Shape The game of golf was known
- 47:37for being outrageous. This is annoying.
- 47:43This is a great question. This is the This is the Radicchi
- 47:46thing all over me. Where it just leaves your brain.
- 47:48Yeah, I'm happy I got Sergio Garcia.
- 47:51I'm trying to think there wasn't.
- 47:53Maybe he was a South American. I can give you a clue for
- 47:59another one to take your mind off it.
- 48:00Yeah, Recently, world number one.
- 48:04Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what I'm thinking of now.
- 48:05Oh, OK. Hit a hole in one in the warm up
- 48:09round of Augusta on a par 3. Skimmed it across the water, ran
- 48:13out the green, rolled it all the way around.
- 48:17I'm. Am I going to have to put a time
- 48:21limit on him guys? You're going to have to concede.
- 48:23I'm going to have to concede. There's nothing in my brain.
- 48:25So the. Two that you were looking for.
- 48:27Wait, wait, wait, wait. Because I literally I've I've
- 48:29before this. Before we start, I went to look
- 48:31at the open. Leaderboard, I know, and that's
- 48:33actually he's on your phone because I've just gone to Safari
- 48:35to just get a list up. That's so dangerous going on by
- 48:38Safari like that. You should know better than
- 48:40that. I didn't type anything that
- 48:42began with P don't worry. Oh, there has to be a Carlos.
- 48:51It has to be. I don't know if that's OK.
- 48:53No, no, no, no. It's it's like rolling off my
- 48:56tongue. I.
- 48:59Like Jimenez? Jimenez is, yeah, but it's not
- 49:04Carlos. Give me something Jimenez like
- 49:07old school. Yeah, old school, great guy,
- 49:10massive cigar. Yeah, every time.
- 49:13It's like, do I need more of his name because it's me and
- 49:16Jimenez, OK? You're struggling so much.
- 49:17I'm going to give you Angel Jimenez.
- 49:19Yeah. Is it?
- 49:20Miguel Angel Jimenez. Great, great bag.
- 49:23Do you want I'm going to give you 10 seconds for one more.
- 49:25No. OK.
- 49:27So I I think what you were looking for was one of John Ram.
- 49:32Oh, John Ram Howe. And Sebi Basseros, they are
- 49:37great. So yeah.
- 49:38Oh. That's so annoying.
- 49:41OK, Next. Yeah, I got one question.
- 49:43Not bad. Not bad.
- 49:44Not bad. Not bad.
- 49:45Very good. Next question.
- 49:48Very famous dish in Spain. It's paella.
- 49:51We wrong country. We're looking for sea.
- 49:56So paella. Very famous dish.
- 49:59Back in the UK, there is a brand that makes clothing and food and
- 50:05it rhymes with my protein. They make a recipe book which
- 50:12has got paella, a chicken and chorizo paella.
- 50:14Yeah. Their serving size is 477
- 50:18calories, right? How many grams of protein is in
- 50:23their serving? So this.
- 50:24Is the most convoluted question related to Spain?
- 50:28You're welcome. So 417 now.
- 50:31No 477. Grams in the calories oh sorry
- 50:35calories in a serving size. Now I I want to knowing you not
- 50:44that I'm overthinking this one. Go really low because you're you
- 50:49get upset when something should have more protein than it is,
- 50:53especially from a brand that rhymes.
- 50:55With with my protein, Yeah, yeah, yeah, so.
- 50:58I want to do that, but I also know that that brand loves to
- 51:03put a lot of protein into something to the point where it
- 51:06doesn't taste very nice. You're not wrong.
- 51:08OK, like the protein cookie with 30 grams protein in Oh.
- 51:12Don't even get me started on that.
- 51:13Piece of disorder that is so tough to eat yeah OK, I'm going
- 51:18to say in 477 calories we're going to go 50 you're.
- 51:29Going to be disappointed. It's 28 grams of protein, which
- 51:34is actually not great. You can just get a cookie.
- 51:36Yeah, you could. You could have some sawdust and
- 51:40you could do better. Yeah, 50.
- 51:42Grams would have been aggressive.
- 51:43Though so paella, as it turns out, according to my proteins
- 51:47sound like if that's The thing is is not a great source of
- 51:51protein. Fair enough.
- 51:53Again, it is a recipe though, so if you want more protein, you
- 51:55can just add more protein. Christine Lopez has a PhD in
- 52:00sports science. He is Spanish.
- 52:03He currently has the most world records of anyone that is
- 52:07Spanish. At 34, he's made it his life
- 52:11goal to have the most world records in the world.
- 52:15This is Guinness World Records official.
- 52:18How many records would he need to earn that title?
- 52:22Oh nice. He's a sports scientist.
- 52:25He's. Into sports science.
- 52:27This is how we got into it, by doing weird.
- 52:29Sports ones, I don't even know where to begin on this.
- 52:34It's going to be something crazy because there's so many niche
- 52:37world records and like I'm going to have to grind my gears just
- 52:44quickly, real quickly making something or making up a world
- 52:51record just to break it. So it's like I'm going to do
- 52:55this challenge. It's a world record, and then
- 52:58you go and break it. Go and do a world record that
- 53:01has already exists, a famous world record, something that's
- 53:04really different. You're only doing it because all
- 53:06of the other world records that mean anything to anyone are too
- 53:09difficult to break. So you're just making one up so
- 53:12you can have a world record that doesn't make.
- 53:14What annoys me more is when someone goes to Guinness World
- 53:17Records to do this. Guinness puts a a bar that they
- 53:21have to reach. Yeah, but there's already no
- 53:23record. So why do I have to reach?
- 53:25Surely if I do the bare minimum it's a record?
- 53:28Yeah. But why are you deciding how
- 53:32much I have to do as a minimum? But what if I just go?
- 53:34I want a world record. The corner of the pool, I'm
- 53:37going to jump over that as many times as I can in an hour.
- 53:41I've got a world record. It's the same thing.
- 53:43They. Have to prove it.
- 53:44They might go that's not good enough.
- 53:45Got hard hopes though anyway, because you know what I mean.
- 53:49I I know exactly. I'm so passionate about that.
- 53:51OK, I'm going to say 100 and. Three 103 for the most Guinness
- 53:55World Records. Unfortunately not Ashrita Furman
- 53:58from the US has got 200 Guinness World Records.
- 54:02The thing that Christian Lopez. Yeah, this is what I want to
- 54:05know. I don't think it's what you want
- 54:08to know has said about that is it's incredibly difficult to
- 54:11find enough records to hold because some of them and the
- 54:16ones that he's already got are like pretty weird is.
- 54:18This what I want to know. So I was starting to write them
- 54:21down and then I just thought, there's no point to these.
- 54:24He's going to be annoyed that they're considered records in
- 54:26the 1st place because one of them is stepping over a step
- 54:281000 times. He made that one up.
- 54:31So yeah, he's got a long way to go, but 34, he only started
- 54:35doing it a few years ago, so he's doing well.
- 54:37I want to know the person, the person from the States, which
- 54:39has a Furman 200 and something. Yeah, what those records are, I
- 54:43reckon they're so specific and so similar.
- 54:46Yeah, yeah. It's not like they've got the
- 54:48world record for. No doubt Christians looking at
- 54:51her record and thinking I'm just going to steal those yeah,
- 54:53because don't forget this is the key part about it.
- 54:56I. Just need to beat it by 1.
- 54:57No, every one of hers he takes this is 1 less.
- 55:00He has to break, get to break. Yeah, that's true, isn't it?
- 55:03Unless the record is how many you hold at one time.
- 55:06Anyway, I I digress if that's the right use of the word.
- 55:09Question #9 Spanish women versus the Swiss women was a football
- 55:17match that happened last night in the women's EUR.
- 55:19It's the most recent Spanish women's football game.
- 55:22What was the final score? We were watching Vines.
- 55:28We were watching Vines. Spain won.
- 55:34Is that? They they won the game, they won
- 55:36the game. I get.
- 55:38Are you going to confirm that? Yeah, they won the game.
- 55:43You got that right. Yeah, I know that.
- 55:44I was 5050. They won two nil.
- 55:50Spawn visit. The man had one eye on the score
- 55:54while he was watching Vines. Great stuff.
- 55:56Yes, Question 10 and the final question, and we are bringing it
- 56:01back to what has previously been a very large topic of the
- 56:04podcast, we've actually managed to avoid up until now.
- 56:07Oh, no high rocks. Oh, we've done really well.
- 56:10Yeah, the men's pro double S world record.
- 56:14These are good questions. Is 48 minutes and 31 seconds.
- 56:20Who set that world record? Some Spanish person.
- 56:28Was this in Berlin? No, it's in Miami 2025.
- 56:33The Pro. Time I don't know open.
- 56:36I cannot even tell you even a guess at their names.
- 56:39Well, based. Just because I want to help you
- 56:41based on the logic you originally had, can you think of
- 56:44anyone that is really good at hierarchy in Spanish?
- 56:46You're going to kick yourself. So the American partner was Rich
- 56:52Ryan Spaniard, who is in the Elite 15, and he's always up
- 56:58there, is Pelayo Menendez Fernandez.
- 57:02If I was going to guess someone, I just didn't have the name in
- 57:04my head. Pelayo's a great Pelayo.
- 57:06I know you tune in. I'm sorry about that, but that
- 57:10brings us to the end of the quiz.
- 57:11That was arguably your most successful quiz in a very
- 57:14cultured Spanish manner. You gave me some sitters with
- 57:17the geography questions. Especially the flag geography.
- 57:20Geography, flags in general. People would be shook if if they
- 57:24knew how good I was with flags. We might.
- 57:26Have to test that we will. Just do that.
- 57:28Geography in general. OK, that's my mastermind topic.
- 57:31Excellent. Is there anything you would like
- 57:33to give the viewers to take away for the next episode?
- 57:37I would like them to know how difficult it was for me to sit
- 57:40here and not hold something. Like a beer, Yeah.
- 57:47Not having a microphone, that was tough for me, but no other
- 57:51than that, make sure they TuneIn share like subscribe comment
- 57:56comments big one. Huge, big one, yeah.
- 57:59And guys, if you want to help out the podcast that we can do
- 58:02more themed ones in crazy locations, then absolutely
- 58:06subscribing, sharing, sending it to your friends is key because
- 58:10I've really enjoyed this episode.
- 58:11Nice change, good fresh change. Hope you guys have enjoyed it.
- 58:14Hope you haven't been stuck watching this while you're in
- 58:17the office waiting for your summer holiday.
- 58:19But hey, this is what you could be doing when you're on holiday.
- 58:21So much love. Thank you for tuning in and
