- 0:12Hello, Melissa Crook here at the field Podcast.
- 0:15Welcome. Welcome to today's one-on-one
- 0:18time with me. We are going to talk about the
- 0:21calendar cleanse today. Now this may sound a little bit
- 0:24like the feel reset that we talked about a few weeks ago,
- 0:28but I thought that it's the end of January.
- 0:31We've had some time to get into 2026.
- 0:34Sometimes we set some goals or some ideas or or make there's a
- 0:39list of things we want to really get going in January to live
- 0:422026 more in alignment with ourselves and help our life feel
- 0:47less chaotic and and more properly resourced and
- 0:53supported. But then life gets busy, the
- 0:56kids get sick, the Co worker quits and you got to cover for
- 1:00them. An unexpected health issue with
- 1:05your parents comes up and you got to go travel.
- 1:07I mean, there's just life lights.
- 1:09And you realize you got to the end of the month.
- 1:11Like, Oh my gosh, I haven't really gone into my calendar yet
- 1:15and done this kind of reset this cleanse.
- 1:18There's still time, there's always time, but we can get you
- 1:24thinking about this before the end of January.
- 1:26So we're going to talk about the calendar cleanse today.
- 1:29This is also available as one of our online course opportunities.
- 1:34You can get this on an online course and really guide yourself
- 1:38through this for just $47. It's a great way, great
- 1:42investment in yourself. If you need a little more
- 1:44support on this than what I'm going to give you today and
- 1:47really helps you put these practices into place.
- 1:50But it's not too late and it's never too late.
- 1:52You can do this anytime, but so many times at this beginning of
- 1:56the year, we get to the end of the month, we're like, I didn't
- 1:59get it done and we beat ourselves up and we're so hard
- 2:02on ourselves and again, life likes and think we get
- 2:05distracted or and also remember, if this isn't a habit you have,
- 2:11it's one thing to acknowledge that you need to do something
- 2:14and that's the first step. We can't do anything if we don't
- 2:17at first acknowledge something. Some action needs to be taken,
- 2:21but also then we have to put practices into place that act
- 2:27and get used to those practices. We have to practice those
- 2:31practices so they become natural to us, so they become something
- 2:37our systems and brains and nervous systems and ways of
- 2:41thinking are used to. It requires us maybe to unlearn
- 2:44some old habits, to relearn some new healthier ones that are
- 2:49going to support us in. And so even if you did, let's
- 2:53say you started the first week and then it's like, oh, I keep
- 2:56forgetting this hopefully will help you remind yourself and
- 3:01help you create those practices and, and things that we're going
- 3:04to help you keep in alignment with this.
- 3:06But remember, give yourself time and grace.
- 3:07It takes time. And that's where the online
- 3:09course is so nice because once you have it, you have it for
- 3:12life. You spend that $47, you have it
- 3:15forever. So when you need a reminder, you
- 3:17can go back to it. So that's the great opportunity
- 3:21there. But hopefully this will just
- 3:22help you get back in alignment today.
- 3:23If you're like, no, that's, that's not where I'm going to
- 3:26spend my energy and time right now or no, I just needed this
- 3:28reminder today. But always remember you are
- 3:31worth the investment. So I'm hoping that one way or
- 3:34another, whether it's taking the information from this episode
- 3:37today, going back and revisiting our other Tuesday episodes this
- 3:40month for the other things we talked about and getting your
- 3:42life and calendar in alignment. Or it is spending the time and
- 3:47resources with me to get it done or on the online course.
- 3:50Whatever it is, know that you're worth the investment.
- 3:52And this is going to you're, you're never going to be sorry.
- 3:56You've invested in yourself. And because of the outcomes of
- 4:00that, of feeling refreshed and in alignment and present and not
- 4:05exhausted and tattered and worn out and and spread too thin.
- 4:09So that'll get off my soapbox on that before the calendar
- 4:14cleanse. What does that look like?
- 4:16So the calendar is more than a schedule.
- 4:19It's a reflection of your priorities, your boundaries,
- 4:23your self respect. But again, like most of us
- 4:27ambitious women, our days are filled with obligations so many
- 4:31times that don't truly service because we just keep showing up
- 4:36for everybody all the time and don't really think about what
- 4:39we're saying yes or no to until at the other side of it we're
- 4:43worn out, exhausted and realized on the other side of it, Oops.
- 4:47I've over committed there. This is going to help you to not
- 4:50do that. We get overbooked, we get
- 4:53stretched too thin, and then we're constantly squeezing
- 4:56ourselves into the margins. This calendar cleanse is your
- 5:00reset on that. It's a guided process that helps
- 5:04you strip away what no longer belongs and helps you reclaim
- 5:09your time. And it helps you design your
- 5:11calendar in a way that actually supports you and who you want to
- 5:18be. And so it really helps you ask
- 5:22and identify what do I value most right now?
- 5:26Write these things down. Journaling time at night before
- 5:29bed, when you get up in the morning, on your lunch break,
- 5:33look at your calendar. Spot the hidden nose disguised
- 5:39as a yes where I was like I said yes to that.
- 5:43But every time I look at that, I want to throw up.
- 5:46That is one of those, what are we going to do about that?
- 5:50If this allows you then to createspace for nourishment and
- 5:54rest and to align your priorities and allows you to
- 5:58begin honoring yourself through your schedule.
- 6:02So how are you going to do this? Well, we're going to go back to
- 6:05you guys, hear me talk about this a lot, but I'm telling you,
- 6:07this is this is where the groundwork begins.
- 6:09First of all, you know you're valuable, you know you're worthy
- 6:13and you know you get to choose and you really believe that.
- 6:16And that might require some layers work.
- 6:18And if you need support on that, I can help you with that.
- 6:20Go to that contact format and let's get together.
- 6:24But let's go back to those those five activities that nourish
- 6:27you. And there's 5 words on how you
- 6:30want to feel the next six months and describing yourself.
- 6:34Who am I? Not by my titles or my roles or
- 6:38my responsibilities, but who am I?
- 6:41I am content, I am excitable, I am cynical.
- 6:51I mean anything, anything. Whoever you are, describe
- 6:55yourself. I'm curious.
- 6:59Those are the kind of get back and look at those things and
- 7:03then look at your calendar and what things.
- 7:05Honor those things in your calendar and start asking
- 7:10yourself that question. And if it feels like I'm not
- 7:13asking you to clear out and realign your whole calendar one
- 7:16time, pick that one thing, that one thing, and it's something
- 7:19that might be a little easier to start with.
- 7:22It doesn't require maybe as challenging of a conversation or
- 7:25it's a little easier to move out and navigate.
- 7:28What's that one thing that you're going to adjust
- 7:32unapologetically? You're just simply like, you
- 7:35know, I realize that this just doesn't fit right now with all
- 7:39that I've got going on. Can you support me on this or
- 7:43can I, I'm simply going to say no to this this year or come
- 7:47back to me next year. But right now it's not the right
- 7:49time. This isn't a good season for me.
- 7:51But pick that little thing, whether it's maybe it's, it's
- 7:53making cookies for all the holiday parties.
- 7:55I realize that's more than I've got on my calendar.
- 7:59I, I, that's I, I bid off too much with that, you can find
- 8:03somebody else to do it or you can say I, you know, I'm just,
- 8:06it's not going to be baked goods.
- 8:07I might be buying the goods or simply I'm just not going to be
- 8:10able to do that. Can you find somebody else?
- 8:12Whatever it is, but start with something simple and start
- 8:16pulling things out one at a time and and practice not apologizing
- 8:23like I'm so sorry, but I need to.
- 8:25It's like, hey, I've realized I looked at my calendar this year.
- 8:29I realized I needed to shift some things.
- 8:31I realized that I over committed myself.
- 8:34So I need to talk to you about something that I had initially
- 8:37said yes to that I'm now realizing is really taxing time
- 8:42and energy from me, my family, my work responsibilities,
- 8:46whatever the case may be, have that conversation that way,
- 8:49coming in confidently coming in and don't feel like you have to
- 8:54over explain beyond that. And then so again, spotting
- 8:59those hidden nose that are disguised at a yes, and start
- 9:03with one of those at a time. And then don't feel like you
- 9:06have to feel that with something else.
- 9:08That's the other thing We'll say, OK, what am I going to fill
- 9:10it with? Now?
- 9:11If you're going to fill it with anything, fill it with quiet
- 9:13time for you. So the time I would have spent
- 9:15making those cookies for those parties, I'm going to instead,
- 9:18I'm going to sit outside quietly and put, you know, for 10 to 15
- 9:23to 20 to 30 minutes and just rest and refresh.
- 9:27I'm going to go on a walk, I'm going to go to coffee with a
- 9:30girlfriend. I'm going to do some yoga or I'm
- 9:36just going to I'm going to listen to my favorite music,
- 9:38whatever is or I'm just going to be quiet and make space to put
- 9:42more time into the other things that I really want to be putting
- 9:46space into. So don't just feel like you got
- 9:49to go fill it with something else.
- 9:50No, allow it to create the space to be putting your energy and
- 9:54time world where you want it to be.
- 9:56Again, like I said, this creates space for nourishment, rest and
- 10:01aligned priorities. And this allows you to begin
- 10:04honoring yourself through your schedule.
- 10:07And then for the take away today, I'm going to give you the
- 10:10same things that I gave you in the couple weeks ago in the
- 10:13reset. I want you to a no yeses for at
- 10:20least 24 hours. When someone asks you to do
- 10:22something, you give a 24 minimum hour, maybe more.
- 10:27Maybe you need a week, maybe need a month.
- 10:29Depends on the level of the activity.
- 10:31But give yourself that minimum of 24 hours before you decide
- 10:35whether to say yes or not. And really think about it and,
- 10:40and, and take everything into consideration.
- 10:42And then the other thing is, remember, whatever you're saying
- 10:46yes to, you're saying no to something else.
- 10:49Make sure that no isn't to you. And what you need to show up
- 10:54fully resourced and feeling in alignment and looking at your
- 10:57calendar in a way that makes you feel like, oh, you're looking
- 11:02forward to that. Now, like I said, or a few weeks
- 11:04ago, there's always those things we have to do.
- 11:06We got to clean our bathrooms, We got to do the laundry.
- 11:08There's things that we have to do in our lives.
- 11:10There's no amount of yeses or noes.
- 11:13They're going to clear that up. I'm talking about those, those
- 11:17things that we're asked to take on at work that we're afraid to
- 11:21disappoint someone. Those things were asked to take
- 11:24on at school or with the family planning for family reunion that
- 11:30we're, we don't want to disappoint someone.
- 11:33And so we just say yes rather than like being really
- 11:36thoughtful about it and realizing that when we do things
- 11:39at half tank or quarter tank or empty tank, that's not really
- 11:44how we want people to experience us or anything.
- 11:47We've prepared prepared for them.
- 11:49We want to them to remember us as present and resource fields
- 11:54and content and really invested in in whatever it is they're
- 11:59receiving from us. And so in order to do that, we
- 12:02have to know where our limits are and we have to be willing to
- 12:05say no to the things that don't honor that.
- 12:08So this is what the calendar cleanse really helps you do if
- 12:13hopefully these these reminders today have been what you need.
- 12:17But if not, if you feel like you need a little more help and
- 12:19guidance, again, that calendar cleanse is available as our
- 12:23introductory online course. Go invest in that.
- 12:25And then you have it for life to go back to and revisit.
- 12:28Or if you feel like you need a little more accountability than
- 12:31that, I can work with you one-on-one.
- 12:33We can go to the fuel reset as well.
- 12:35But hopefully this has been supportive to you and has been a
- 12:38good reminder that there's always time to cleanse your
- 12:41calendar and get it in alignment with you.
- 12:43Whether it's January 1st, January 27th, or December 5th,
- 12:49or any time in between, there's always time to do this.
- 12:52There's always time to invest in you.
- 12:55You're valuable, you're worthy, and you get to choose.
- 12:58Thanks so much for being with me today on the Field podcast.
- 13:01I'll see you here next time. Take good care.
