Transcript
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Heal Yourself Podcast, where we dive deep into all things healing.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: I'm Kira, a traditional naturopath and functional nutritionist.
- 0:09SPEAKER_02: And I'm today, the speech pathologist and myself coach for adults and teens.
- 0:15SPEAKER_02: And we are here to guide you through the transformative process of healing your body, mind, and soul.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Which means we're not staying in one place.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: One episode we're typing the mechanical nervous system.
- 0:28SPEAKER_02: And the next we're unpacking identity, frequency, a whatever story for realizing attacked to the link.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Because your body was never separate from the rest of you.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: The nervous system, the story you carry about who you are.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: It's all one conversation.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: Honestly, think of it less like a polished podcast and more like sitting in on a conversation between two besties who happen to also be obsessed with healing.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: So pull up a seat, no spiritual bypassing, no toxic positivity, just the truth about what it actually takes to come home to yourself.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Your body already knows the way.
- 1:04SPEAKER_02: Let's go remember it together.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Woohoo.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: I love this.
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: If you know Kira at all, she loves to talk about poop.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: I mean, I do it for a living, so I couldn't do it for a living.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: It was a good analogy.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: But I mean, but seriously though, as as the topic came to me, I'm like, this is perfect because think about it.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Like when we're constipated, I'm talking about the physiological one here, right?
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Our bodies hold on to this waste.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: When you're full of shit.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: When you're full of shit, you feel uncomfortable, you feel bloated, you feel sluggish.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Like all those toxins are recirculating.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: But let's think about this from a deeper lens, right?
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Emotionally, spiritually, like we're holding on to stuff that doesn't serve us, beliefs, relationships, identities.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: And then we're like, oh, but why do I feel like shit?
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Because you're spiritually constipated.
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: Because you're holding on to it.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: We're not letting it circulate, right?
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: Because it needs to get out.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: It needs to get out.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: We've talked about the um, we've talked about the whole emotions thing.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: Like you need to get like feel them.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: Don't ignore them.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: You need to, you need to circulate them.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: They need to get out, they cannot just stay in.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: So yeah.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: But this is where people need reminders.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: I need reminders.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: You need reminders.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: And so this is your reminder, right?
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Like every week we do something, and it is another reminder for you.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, I've got to be working on this.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Because if you think about, you know, this made-up concept, I don't, I don't know that it's a thing, but spiritual constipation, holding on to old beliefs.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Like sit with that one for a minute.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: How many of us are holding on to old beliefs about everything?
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Beliefs around money, about relationships, around politics, about the world.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: Like, I I we could keep going on.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: So and then, yeah, just it's like it's the same.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't know.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: I I said the other day that I mean, uh, you have that belief because you've been rehearsing it for like over 10-15 years.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: So just rehearse another one.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: You know, and then like or whatever, just get and kind of like how what we talk about a lot, like start questioning these beliefs, especially if you look at your life and you notice all of the patterns that you keep repeating in different with different relationships with different people in different situations.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: It could be the same pattern showing up in a relationship or in health or a in a friendship or in finances or in any other areas.
- 3:53SPEAKER_02: That's still a pattern that is coming from a belief that you keep holding on to.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: So this is what we're saying.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: Sit with it, take Miralax.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Don't take Mirilex.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: Don't take Mirilex.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: She hits Malax.
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: I hate Murlex too.
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: Take magnesia.
- 4:09SPEAKER_03: Oh, we said it the same time.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: See, we are besties.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: So uh yeah, just let it question it, see why you have it, and then you might realize wait a minute, I've been rehearsing this belief for 20 years.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: What other belief can I rehearse that is going to replace that, right?
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: So, and this is gonna be serving you in the version that you want to be.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: Remember the topic what we said?
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: Don't leave that version of you on the vision board or in the visualization.
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: You gotta practice her right now, that version, right now, this moment, moment by moment.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: You might forget a little bit, but then remember to bring her back.
- 4:51SPEAKER_02: Take her out of the vision board, out of the visualization.
- 4:54SPEAKER_02: Because everything, those are great tools.
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: However, they're only tools unless you actually implement them and practice them.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: And this is also going back to identities, right?
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Spiritual constipation.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Let go the old identity.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: You can't make any changes until you shift into the new version of you, which is like what you were saying, right?
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: There's beliefs, but then there's identity.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: And the example I always like is one of my mentors used Oprah Winfrey, right?
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: He used Mike Tyson too, but like Oprah Winfrey, right?
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Why could she never lose weight?
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: She would lose weight and then she would gain it back.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: She would lose weight and gain it back.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: And for the people that watched her in the 90s, you know what I'm talking about.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: But she could never keep the weight off.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: And she always talked about it, trying all of these different things.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: What do you think the identity was under the surface?
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: I can't lose weight, or I'm a bigger person.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: She needed to change at the identity level.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Or look at all these people that go out and win the lottery.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: And what happens?
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: They're blowing like multiple millions of dollars on stupid crap because their identity is I am poor, I don't have money.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: So, right, there's the belief, which is more surface level, but there's the identity, which is the really deep one.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: That's where we're really constipated.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: That's what you gotta dig out.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:16SPEAKER_02: And this is all to be honest, like, and I love how we talk about this, and we're not scientists, but this is all backed by neuroscience and neuroplasticity.
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: So it's not something that is woo, not something that is magic.
- 6:29SPEAKER_02: So that's why.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: I mean, maybe we can kind of like one episode get into the neuroscience and the neuroplasticity, but uh this is not like our expertise.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: However, it's whatever we're saying is not just magic and it's not wishful thinking.
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: And then that's why we always tell you that 1% moment by moment in order for you to achieve what you want to achieve.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: So, yes, if you are spiritually constipated, holding on to so many toxins, whether they're beliefs, habits, behaviors, identity, whatever it is, just see where you can start little by little to shift that, to change it, so you can actually live the life that you want instead of just keeping it on the vision board or on your phone screen or wherever you keep it.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: And then I think another aspect of spiritual constipation is gonna be the little things, even though they can be big things, right?
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: These can still tie into beliefs and identities, but guilt, expectations of other people, of yourself, past experiences, like stories, yes, like all again, stuff that you need to let go of.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: It's not serving you.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: You can't bring anything new into your life if you're still holding on to this crap over here.
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and sometimes you're holding on to too much that we can't control.
- 7:52SPEAKER_02: So sometimes, you know, surrender and letting go goes a long way.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: So that's what you tell me all the time.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: We can't control that, Denise.
- 8:01SPEAKER_02: You can't control that.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Can't you can't, yeah, you can't.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: And then I think also looking at you need to identify where the blockage is.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: Where I love this, where are you constipated?
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: Where are you constipated?
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Like, are you stuck because you've built an identity around suffering?
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Are you focusing, and this is we just did an episode around this.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Are you focusing on accomplishments?
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: Or are you, you know, you can't let go of your struggles or your diagnosis or your label?
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: Like, we say that we want to change these things, but you have to move through it to change it then.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: You have to learn to let some of these things go.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: And another episode you and I did is like just being silent, you know, like just literally just getting silent and letting all this crap go.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Not thinking or you just said move through it, yeah, or move through, especially with motion through it, yeah, walk.
- 9:03SPEAKER_02: So also because some people can't sit in silence, but they can actually pair movement with silent.
- 9:11SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm trying to say?
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: Like sometimes movement is really important.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: Well, especially, I mean, when you're really constipated, movement helps, right?
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: And I'm not so yes, love that.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: When I say in silence, like I don't mean you have to sit in silence, but learn to clear the thoughts out of your head, right?
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Like, we were taught to think, think, think our way through life.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: And I always tell you this, you're overthinking.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: And this is something that I've had to work on, and something that I've learned from Jim Fortin and Wayne Dyer of like, I need to clear my mind and get silent.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Like, literally, no thoughts running through it, not not a guided meditation, not sitting and being still.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: I might walk, but I think I told you last time I make these goals of like, okay, I'm gonna walk to that next stop sign down there with not one thought in my head.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: And that is so freaking hard for us to do because I might look up and be like, oh, the birds are so pretty.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: Oh, shh, there's another thought.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: Like, literally learning to just let some of this stuff go and clear your mind, it opens up so much.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: Like, people don't see the it's so hard.
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: It's not easy because we constantly have thoughts.
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: Wayne Dyer has a really cool meditation where he teaches you the gap.
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: What is it?
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: It's called the gap on YouTube, right?
- 10:31SPEAKER_02: I think it is, yeah.
- 10:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, if you look it up, it's called the gap on YouTube, and he goes through the 10, the first 10 words of the Our Father, right?
- 10:39SPEAKER_02: And he teaches you, and you truly feel the gap.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: I know it's a quick second or a few seconds, but it works, and the more that you do it, which reminds me, I want to get back into that.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: But to me, also another thing that could clear your thoughts is when you are, you know, for example, painting or coloring or focused on a task.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: Like, for example, when I'm at spin class, like I don't have thoughts, like I'm in the zone in the moment.
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: So this is so that's why it's so therapeutic to me because my mind is not constantly looping the thoughts.
- 11:13SPEAKER_02: I'm just focused.
- 11:14SPEAKER_02: And it's uh I think it's just uh you gotta find your thing, right?
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: So to you, it could be walking, to me, it could be walking or you know, spin or exercise or whatever it is to some people, but you just gotta find what helps you be in the gap a few moments in the day so you can be in silence.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: And that's the thing, the silence is not unrelated, that's what helps you let stuff go.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: Because when you're in silence, when you're not thinking, that's actually when clarity comes.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: When you get out of silence, it's like, oh, these ideas come to me.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Maybe this belief wasn't serving me.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Maybe this anger I've been holding on to, you know, even if it's not decades, it could be like, oh, I've been super angry because I argued with someone a day ago, or my boss said this, or whatever it might be.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: You get into that silence, and it's so much easier to let it go because you like when you're in silence, you just realize, wow, I'm a part of something so much greater, and I'm getting these stupid little things to throw me off and mess up my day and take away my peace and all of that.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: So identify where your blockage is and figure out how to unblock it with the resources that we've been sharing with you, with the resource that you know work for you, whatever it is, but it because at the end of the day, you and I, what do we say all the time?
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: Awareness, awareness, awareness.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: So even if you're just gonna identify the block, that is your first step.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: Don't even think about releasing it, yeah, or moving through it.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: Like at least identify it, name it, label it, look at it.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, because it will uh uh lose its grip on you when you actually look at it in the eye and name it and say, wait a minute, this is where I'm blocked, etc.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: So, and then think about because sometimes I think that because you and I have done the work for so many years, it could be a little bit uh easier for you and me.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: And then somebody who's like, what the heck?
- 13:29SPEAKER_02: You know, like I have so much going on, which I get it, we do too, but it is just start increasing that awareness, and you'll be surprised, especially when you when you when you identify your your thing, yeah, and when you talk about it, like you bring it out in the open, right?
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: Bring the unconscious conscious or it will rule your life and you call it fate.
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: So bring it up to the surface, look at it, and then see what you can do with it.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and that's where it goes back to what we've said.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: You've got to be your own best coach, right?
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: You've got to talk yourself through some of this stuff.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: Pretend you're talking to your best friend.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: If they're telling you, like, hey, I'm dealing with this situation, how would you respond to them?
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: Um, and I doubt, like, so here's another analogy since we're talking about constipation.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: If we're backed up, you're not gonna go eat a ton, right?
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: Because you don't you don't feel good.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: You got too much in there.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: It's the same thing with this, right?
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: You're not gonna say, you know what?
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: Hey, I'm I'm sorry that you're dealing with this.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: I have a course, a podcast, a book, a couple healing modalities.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: And then let me talk to you for 30 minutes with my advice.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Really hope that's not what you would do to a friend, but that is what we do to ourselves.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: I just need more.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: I just I just need to learn more, I need to consume more.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: You're you're furthering that constipation, right?
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: It's not always about adding something.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: Clear what's in the way, clear the blockage.
- 14:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you gotta clear what's in the way.
- 15:00SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, I love that analogy because absolutely when you're constipated, you can't eat anymore.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: Like you need to really relieve in order, release in order to consume.
- 15:12SPEAKER_02: So make sure that, yeah, yeah, you do that.
- 15:15SPEAKER_02: Whatever Kier told you.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: Whatever Kira told you.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: So, yeah.
- 15:20SPEAKER_02: She's a poop queen.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: I'm the poop queen.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: I I I think that's it.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, the it's a short episode, but it's to the point, right?
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: Look at it is because I'm traveling and you're busy and I'm going to an opera like at 11 a.m.
- 15:33SPEAKER_03: Well, ask me why, my brother.
- 15:36SPEAKER_03: I love him because listening to this afternoon afternoon opera.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: I love him.
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: Hi, 11 a.m.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: in Phoenix.
- 15:43SPEAKER_03: Okay, okay.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Cheaper tickets?
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: Maybe, maybe.
- 15:49SPEAKER_03: No, he was so proud of himself too.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: He's like, I got his opera tickets at 11 a.m.
- 15:53SPEAKER_03: I'm like, what am I gonna wear?
- 15:57SPEAKER_03: At 11 a.m.
- 15:58SPEAKER_03: 11 a.m.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Um, but I mean, seriously, this was enough, right?
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: It gets you to think about yeah, we all deal with some sense of spiritual constipation.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: Where is it?
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: And like Denise said, bring that awareness because that's key.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: That you're asking the question, where am I constipated in my life?
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: What's one thing I can start to work on?
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: Maybe that's the first question you ask, and that's it.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: That's all we want you to do.
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's all.
- 16:29SPEAKER_02: Just the whole episode is just this because that's exactly what it entails.
- 16:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 16:36SPEAKER_02: Alrighty, I think this is a short one.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: I do too.
- 16:39SPEAKER_02: That we're um, well, actually, we covered what we needed to cover.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: So I yeah, yeah.
- 16:44SPEAKER_02: I feel completely just blabbering, is this, you know.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: But I do have a mantra.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: Oh, I release what no longer serves me.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: Oh that's your get rid of your constipation.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: That is good.
- 16:57SPEAKER_02: I release what no longer serves me.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: So, alrighty, 555.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: You know the drill.
- 17:03SPEAKER_02: Maybe close the drill.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: If you don't know the drill and you're a new listener, we're gonna do some breath work.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: So okay, there we go.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 17:11SPEAKER_02: Uh so if you are driving, please do not close your eyes.
- 17:16SPEAKER_02: But if you are not driving, eyes closed, hand on the heart, another one on the belly if you'd like.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: And then we're gonna inhale for five, hold for five, release for five, while saying, I release what no longer serves me.
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: So we're gonna start with one, two, three, four, five, hold, four, three, two, one, release, four, three, two, one, I release what no longer serves me.
- 17:47SPEAKER_02: We're gonna do one more round, inhaling for five, two, three, four, five, hold, five, four, three, two, one, release, four, three, two, one, I release what no longer serves me.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: Alright guys, we will see you on the next episode.
