- James @ Daily Flow: Hello friends. Thanks for downloading the audio version of today's 10 minute mornings practice. The YouTube video is linked in the show notes. And if you're staying with just the audio, don't worry about doing it right. Just move and breathe in a way that feels honest. That's enough. James: Some days your schedule just isn't making you feel like there's time to do 10 minutes of yoga, but there is time to do 10 minutes of yoga. Hello, friends. Welcome to your Daily Flow 10 Minute Mornings Practice. My name is James. Be sure to practice till the end. We'll pull a card, set some intention for the day, and of course, like and share and subscribe so that we can grow this family, this community together. Come to stand at the top of your mat. I thought we'd practice this morning a four-count vinyasa, which of course starts with a four-count breath. And this is coming from actually one of your comments that sometimes it feels rushed. Sometimes it feels like it's really hard to get, to force your body to get to this shape in time. And this just values slowing down and really using the breath. By the way, this is Max. He's gonna be going a little crazy this morning, I bet. Feel your feet on the floor. Let's start with the breath together. Inhaling for four, three, two, one, exhale, four, three, two, one. Again, inhale, four, two, one, exhale, four. to Keep breathing like that. We'll add a little bit of movement. Exhale four, three, two, one. Float your arms. Inhale, four, three, two. Hands meet. Exhale. Four. Bow three. Two to the mat. Look forward. Three, two, one. Exhale. Bow. Three. Two. One. Rise up. Inhale. Three, two, one hands to your side. Three, two, one. This time. We'll step back to plank and lower to chaturanga. It's one exhale, which means your body moves quickly, but your breath keeps moving slowly. Feel your feet. Inhale, float the arms. Four, three, two, hands meet. Exhale, bell. Three, two to the mat. Look forward. This is small. Three, one step back. One, two, lower, halfway, four, upward facing dog. Two. Three four downward facing dog two three five breaths inhale one two three four exhale one two three four inhale two two three four exhale two two three four inhale three Allow the pose to evolve. Focus on the breath. Exhale three. Inhale four. Exhale four. Inhale five. Exhale, five. All right, here we go. Inhale, step forward, step forward, look forward, four, exhale, bow, two, three, four, root to rise, inhale, two, three, hands meet, hands to side, exhale, two, three, four. We'll do that one more time. Some salutation A. One breath, one movement. Sometimes the movement is big, sometimes the movement is short. The breath is this constant. Feet on the mat. Inhale, first the arms. One, two. Three hands meet. Exhale, bow, two, three, hands to the mat. Look forward, small move. Two, three, four, and step, step, lower halfway, upward facing dog, two, three, arrive, downward facing dog, two, three, arrive, stay for five. Now if you need to opt for a child's pose, exhale five. Inhale four. Exhale four. Finger pads active. Elbows wrapped under. Inhale three. Exhale three. Gazes towards the navel. Inhale four. Exhale four. Last one. Inhale. Two, three, four. Exhale. On the inhale, step forward, step forward, look forward, four, exhale, bow. Two, three, four, root to rise. Two, three, four, mountain pose. Two. We'll do Sun B the same way. Now Sun B is a little more challenging because Warrior One is an inhale. So don't feel like you have to get it perfect. You probably won't. I might not. I shouldn't say you probably won't. Maybe you will. I might not. but the idea is that the breath takes precedence. So you do your best, you get into your best version of the shape in that breath, and then over time it does get easier. All right. One full round of breath first. Inhale one. Exhale one. To chair pose. Inhale, four, three, two. Arrive in chair. Exhale, bow. Two, three. Hands to the mat. Look forward. Small move, but still four counts. Three, four, and step, step, lower halfway. Upward facing dog. Two three. Arrive. Downward facing dog. All right, here we go. Right foot steps forward as you inhale, hands meet. Exhale, hands to mat, step back, lower halfway. Roll over your toes, lift your heart. Three, four, downward facing dog, two, three, left side, inhale, step and rise. Exhale, hands to mat, step back, lower halfway, upward facing dog, two, three. Four downward facing dog. Two, three, five breaths. Inhale one. Exhale one. Inhale too. If you feel any strain or s fatigue in your shoulders, exhale to remind yourself about the knuckles. Remind yourself that your whole back body is helping. And so your legs. This is a third inhale. Third exhale. North inhale. Four's exhale. Fifth inhale. Fifth exhale. Inhale, step forward, step forward, look forward. Exhale, bow. Two, three, four. Inhale, chair, two, three, four, mountain pose. Stand tall. How'd you do? We'll do that one more time and that's our time. This whole channel, this whole practice, this 10-minute mornings practice was built out of this. Just a simple flow to start every day. Here we go. I'm not gonna count every count. I'll just give the cues for the shapes. Before we begin though, we'll set our pay we'll set our pace. Inhale four Three, two, one, exhale, four. Three, two, here we go. Inhale, chair. four exhale bell. Lift your chest. Two, three. Exhale, chaturanga. You can float back, but don't arrive till the four. Inhale, upward facing dog. Small move, slow move, downward facing dog. Bigger move, a little faster. Inhale, right foot forward, warrior one, three. Exhale, hands to mad step back and lower halfway. Upward facing dog. Facing dog. Left foot forward, rise up, hands down, step back, lower halfway, upward facing dog. Downward facing dog. Five breaths. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale too. Exhale to Inhale three. Exhale three. Inhale four. Exhale four. Inhale five. Exhale five. Bend your knees, look forward, inhale. Exhale, bow. Two, three, four, chair pose, inhale. Four and stand. Two. Three. you do. I'd like to take one more round. This time I'm just going to cue it as I normally would with inhales and exhales that don't necessarily respect the four counts. But it's up to you to trust your breath more than you trust my cue. So if it takes you a second longer to get to Warrior One, that's fine. But still use the full inhale to get there, and then the full exhale for Chaturanga. So if you need to go slower, slow down the breath. Together we take one nice easy inhale and exhale. Inhale to your chair. Exhale, bow. Inhale, look forward. Exhale, step back. Arrive at the bottom of Chattaranga on the exhale. Arrive at the top of upward dog on the inhale. And then downward facing dog. Arrive at the bottom of the exhale. Orior one. Step forward. Inhale. Chaturanga Upward facing dog. Downward facing dog. Left foot forward, rise up, hands down, step back, upward facing. Downward facing five breaths, and of course, you're not for child's pose. And the nice thing about always meeting up in Down Dog is even when you're in a class setting and there's a room full of people, there's always there are always a few that take a second longer to get here. There are always a few that take that get here a little sooner. So you never have to feel like there's a rush because we're all meeting in down dog. We can kind of reconnect and resynchronize our breaths. And I haven't been counting these breaths, obviously, because I've been talking to you. So we'll say that that was five and then look forward step or float forward. Inhale. Exhale, fold. Inhale, chair pose. Stand tall. Not glamorous, certainly not fancy, but a lot of work. And a nice steady practice. And let's pull our cart. You're welcome to have a seat. You're welcome to lie down and close your eyes, take a little shavasana, and just listen. I had a student. Fellow yogi who was taking class asked me why all the vinyasa classes were so fast. Why is it, does it have to be so fast? And I kept saying, Don't think of it as fast, just slow down your breath. She kept saying, But is it always so fast? And I kept saying, Don't think of it as fast, just slow down your breath. The answer is yes, it's always so fast. Or it's meant to be when we flow. At any rate, let's see what card we pull. The shape is Warrior Three, eternal existence. The body is temporary, but the true self is everlasting. The body is temporary, but the true self is everlasting. I don't know what else to say about that. We identify a lot with the outward stuff. I'm as guilty as anybody of it. I moisturize, I put on sunscreen. I worry about how my hair looks and these things. There's a sense of vanity about it for sure. But I also recognize that just like the hair on my head, this is all Fleeting. This is all temporary. We are here for a short time. And if that short time is a hundred years, it's still a short time. However that part of you, that is you, that deepest capital S self, that is you, that is James, that is Max. He's just dropping into this skin suit for a little while. And whether or not you believe in physical reincarnation, whether or not you believe that there's anything after this, it could very well be that when we die we die. That's it. We're in the ground. No more to say. I happen not to believe that. However, even if that's true, what if that is the case? Then isn't it? Doesn't it make for a happier life, for a more fulfilled life, if you choose to work on something more meaningful? Because that's all it is. You're choosing to think of something deeper and more meaningful than this that we're walking around in. And so, because that's how you're seeing the world as something fleeting through which you, a spiritual being, just happen to be having a human experience. Isn't that nice? Isn't it good? feel that you can resonate in a way that is more important Doesn't it make for a more peaceful and enjoyable experience if you connect with something that's a little deeper than h how you look at a swimsuit? how you look compared to that Instagram model. How you look compared to that yoga teacher who gets a lot more views than you do on YouTube. I think so. But it's a choice. And that choice starts right now. And I believe that choice carries through eternity. But regardless of whether it does, it's a choice I'll keep making every day. Let me know if you will too. The light that is in me. spouse to and honors the light that is in you. James @ Daily Flow: a follow or review goes a long way. And of course, you're always welcome to practice live with me on YouTube, 8 a.m. weekdays.
