- The DECAF Network: Hey, it's Nex from the Checkpoint and I'm gonna see if I can work this out on the fly. Now life is life is basically yin yang. And the sooner you learn to accept that, the easier your life will be. Life is basically yin yang. The sooner you learn that, the easier your life will be. Okay. Let's see how we go. Now a number of years ago, I'd say maybe ten or so. I read a book. It was called The Kabalin, and it featured the seven Hermetic Principles. The book is spelt KYBALLION. It's a bit of a heavy read, and I actually enjoyed it. And the seven Hemetic principles, I'll actually read them out here. The seven Hemetic principles are the principle of mentalism, the principle of correspondence, the principle of vibration. Principle of polarity and the principle of rhythm, the principle of cause and effect and the principle of gender. And when I was reading the book, I actually found that the majority of those principles were actually polar opposites of each other. So you have ⁓ the principle of correspondence, for example. ⁓ patterns repeat across different levels of existence. So as above, so below, so below, so above. ⁓ the principle of vibration. Everything is in constant motion and vibrates at its own frequency. ⁓ maybe not that one. principle of polarity. Opposites are different degrees of the same thing and can transform into one another. ⁓ principle of gender was the same thing. Principle of rhythm. So life moves in cycles with everything flowing back and forth over time. So when I read it, ⁓ all those years ago, that that's my one takeaway was these seven hermetic principles just seemed like whole opposite. So that kind of stuck with me. And as saying that I've had internally, and I've told it some people about this, that I've had for much longer than that is that the grass is always greener. And that's pretty much about it. I'm not saying it's any better, but the grass is always greener regardless of what side you're on. Now that ends up being an infinite loop. So let's just say for example that you're married and you want to fall around and you wish you were single, the grass is always greener. So you hop on the other side, single. Now, when you're over there, you s you tend to think, ⁓ I wish I had a stable partner. I wish I was married. So you hop back over again. It's the same thing. It's just this constant the grass is is always greener. You live in the country. Nice, peace and quiet. But you know, I'm kind of bored out here. I wish I was in the city. Go into the city. Wow, this is really cool. I got so much to do. But you know what? There's too many people around here. There's too much noise. I can't I can't think. It's very noisy here. I wish I was back in the country. Back in the country. It's this whole grass is always greener thing. And in the past number of years, I've I've actually seen that with my life. I've actually made it an effort to ⁓ to see certain things that I might read about. Certain books and the suggestions within those books to see if they were to apply to me. And a lot of the times they wouldn't. Now I wasn't saying that I was just going purposely against the advice given, but just that at my point in my life and certain circumstances, they they just didn't work. On the flip side, though, the total opposite was something that worked for me fine. Again, sort of proving that whole Life is yin yang, very opposite to to what it is. And so on the weekend I I was running and I was trying to run a further distance to what I'm used to. And what I did was I remembered listening to or maybe watching some YouTube videos on running and most people were saying to look into the horizon, like look as far as you can and continue running. Obviously be aware of what's around you. But you should always maintain focus well beyond the distance that you want to run. And and so when I was going for my run the weekend, I was doing that. And I couldn't maintain focus. I felt uncomfortable, my cadence was off. I I struggled to make any meaningful distance whilst kind of employing this method of looking into the for into the horizon and it didn't work. So I ended up just looking pretty much straight down. ⁓ it would probably have been maybe ⁓ maybe only maybe five or so metres in front of me if that could have been even two at at sort of the closest. And what I found was just sticking my head down and and running, I was able to do that. And I was able to cover quite a distance looking like looking much further down than what everybody else said. And looking up and realizing how far I'd run but feeling as though I had only maybe taken a couple of strides. And so that really got me thinking even more about this whole life is yin yang. And it got it got me thinking of all of the other times where, you know, I've heard advice from people. I've read about it in books. I've tried it out for myself and realized that a lot of the times you are reading something in a hope that they may have an answer to your solution. Sometimes the answer to your solution is the total opposite of what it is that they're advising. And to me I think that's pretty good. I I think that means that, you know, just because their advice didn't work from for you doesn't automatically mean that you just stop it there. You might go, okay, well what's the total opposite of that? Like what's the opposite of getting up in the morning or doing things in the morning? Well how about doing it later at night? You know, what's the opposite of me constantly doing this one thing? How about I just stop it and see how that goes? And I found that in my life I I do quite a lot of that stuff. I I I find that I experiment a lot with seeing how things work. And at some point, if it's served me well, I know that at some point the effectiveness will wear off. And then me actually stopping whatever it is that I'm doing helps. And then I can actually go back to doing it again after a period of time of not doing it. So I start to think of all of the things in my life that other people have said to do. I've done it and it's worked. But there are things where I've listened to other advice and I've tried to take that and it hasn't worked. But I have done the opposite and found that that worked equally as well. So for me Life really is about yin and yang. It's it's not just taking the advice of one person and trying to copy them. It's about listening to what it is that they've done, seeing if it works for you. And if it does, great. You know you can focus on something else. But if it doesn't, not to just throw all of your efforts away and go, ⁓ that was a waste of time, I wasted this, I wasted money but to really think about it and go, Okay, well if that didn't work What's the opposite of it? Like what's you know, what what's something that they're telling me to do? What's the opposite of that? And maybe I could try that out. You know, ⁓ I was ⁓ I was in a bit of a weight loss kick. And I th one of the first times that I lost a a great deal of weight, I did I did low carb and I did keto actually. And and that helped. Like I really got into keto and I lost. A whole bunch of weight and I was happy. Now I've tried to do that again, ⁓ getting as close to keto as I can. And, you know, obviously age gets into, you know, plays into this equation as well. But it's pretty difficult. Not only that, you know, in between this stage of not eating as many carbs, ⁓ and exercising, I'm finding my body is needing more fuel and it's kind of not knowing what to do. And so I've sort of gone back onto the carbs because I ramped up exercise and I need that. So that's kind of the total opposite of what I was doing before. There's another example of of basically yin yang for me. Another one, which ⁓ I think I'll do another video on actually, is exercise for me. Now, I remember when I first started going to gym how each session, whether it be my by myself or with a friend, I'd be I'd be totally I'm toast after it. Totally tired. No energy. And I felt good because you know, you feel like you've you've achieved something. You've you know you've you've put muscle on, you've improved your cardio, whatever it is, you've stretched more. And at the end of each session, you know, you get pretty tired. Now the older I get, and I've only recently discovered this. If I don't exercise in the morning, I have less energy for the rest of the day. And I've made I've made notes on this because it was a bit weird. It was strange for me to think that if I wake up and I expel a whole bunch of energy that I actually have more energy throughout the day. It's it's almost like I start my mornings with zero energy and I have to do exercise to to build up my energy bar. And the more exercise I do, the more energy that I can use throughout the day. That that's kind of how I work. I I I don't know why. but that's but that's it for me. So I've gotten used to that. I've gotten used to getting up in the morning and exercising a long time. Like I'm I'm a runner now. ⁓ I and I usually run for I don't know, anywhere from forty five to an hour each morning. With a couple of days. break here and there. And I find that when I do run, I have a lot more energy for the rest of the day. I find that I have more mental clarity. ⁓ I can focus a bit better. I can I I can do a whole bunch of stuff. Which for me has always been the opposite where I would go to gym or I would do a workout. I would actually go for a run in the afternoon and then I'd be totally zonked and all I want to do is eat and go to bed. Again, opposites. So the past past couple of years I have been looking at when my life has been sort of very yin yang. You know, I've I've I've been getting up at four o'clock in the morning for for a while now. Prior to that, I used to stay up late up. I used to stay up late. I used to do everything in the evenings. And now it's kind of flipped around. I thought that for the longest time I was much better on the the written word, the typed word. I still think I'm pretty okay with that stuff. But now I'm getting more comfortable doing this, just sort of talking. and trying to ⁓ analyse my thoughts in real time. And that's kind of a a switch there. And, you know, I I was talking to ⁓ my VA and saying I I don't I kinda don't want to type stuff anymore. I just find it more comfortable, more authentic and I guess easier for me to just hit record on a video and just talk. That's a for me, that's like a a total opposite. So I'm embracing the whole yin and yang of life. I I think that for me, I find solutions at the other end of things. Sure, there's like a there's a grayness in the middle where, you know, you can kind of go back and forth. But I'm finding that there are a lot more contrasting solutions to the things that I've done for the longest time. And ⁓ and I'm enjoying it. I'm I'm finding that it's helping me achieve certain things to go ⁓ further into business to for for things that I've never even tried before because I've always done a certain thing the one way. So my advice is to maybe look and see things in your life that you've done forever that you think are kind of stale that you think could do a bit of a juzge. Now I'm not saying do anything stupid. Like that's that's not what I'm saying. But you know, anything to do with say work Anything to do with something personal that you're wanting to to change or improve or to see if it can help, maybe look to see what's on the opposite side of it and try that. If you're like you know, if you're always used to staying up really late, maybe try and go to bed a bit earlier and and and get up early and see what that does. If you've not tried meditating, maybe try that. If you've journaled, you know, for the longest time, maybe stop and try something else. You know, just all of these things that that we kind of know about and I think we get complacent with. We just always assume that this will work for us. I think it it doesn't always it's that's not always the case. You know, it loses its effectiveness. We get complacent with it. We just kind of get used to it being there, used to it being a function of us. And we don't actually assess whether it works or not until we try something else. So That's something else. It could be something totally the opposite. And who knows? It could it could change your life. So I think that's it for this video. if you want to ask, if you want to discuss questions like these, you can go to one of our checkpoint catch-ups, tc.rebootplay one.com. I'm Dex, and I will see you at one of those. Thanks.
