- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money, the podcast
- 0:12Speaker 1: for millennials who want financial freedom. Today is of course Friday.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Happy Friday to everyone listening. My name is Georgia King.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I'm a copywriter and journalism student and joining me today.
- 0:25Speaker 1: It's just just Ricky. It's the dream team. How are you, doll?
- 0:31Speaker 1: I'm good? How are you good? It does it's different,
- 0:35Speaker 1: it's different, but I'm excited.
- 0:37Speaker 2: I feel like, maybe not you probably, but I'm not
- 0:39Speaker 2: the person that people come here for.
- 0:41Speaker 1: I'm like, there's a lot of pressure. I don't think
- 0:43Speaker 1: anyone comes here for me either, Doll. Let's be real.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Do you want to explain where Ryan and Victoria are today?
- 0:49Speaker 2: They both got sick the same week. One of the
- 0:52Speaker 2: chances mysterious. You better believe that I'm debt holing everything
- 0:56Speaker 2: within a five meter radius of me in the office
- 1:00Speaker 2: at the moment. COVID negative. Yeah, of course, we love.
- 1:04Speaker 2: But both of them have no voice.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it's you're getting our dolls at toe exactly right.
- 1:09Speaker 1: So you're very welcome everyone. I was also away last week,
- 1:13Speaker 1: which everyone's probably I'm the last man stand here. Ye,
- 1:16Speaker 1: So Jess may not be with us next week, but
- 1:18Speaker 1: who knows. Sorry, see how we go? So how does
- 1:21Speaker 1: this podcast usually start, because it's it's usually Victoria and
- 1:25Speaker 1: then we go around the confessions talk to me the table.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Can you guys tell that we don't know what we're doing.
- 1:33Speaker 2: We're flying by the seat app. We're making it up
- 1:36Speaker 2: as we go. We're going rogue and that is fine.
- 1:39Speaker 2: We're going to start with money, wins and confessions.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Do you want to kick usself? Fire? But it's fine,
- 1:43Speaker 1: it's fine.
- 1:44Speaker 2: My one this week is something that I've seen in
- 1:46Speaker 2: the group before. It's a little life hack. Petrol went
- 1:49Speaker 2: up to a dollar seventy from a dollar twenty.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Gee.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that's too many dollars rough on the bank account,
- 1:55Speaker 2: Absolutely very rough on the bank account. So as soon
- 1:57Speaker 2: as I saw that it went up, I jumped on
- 1:59Speaker 2: the seven to eleven app. And you can lock the
- 2:02Speaker 2: fuel price.
- 2:02Speaker 1: So if people have always been big fans of that.
- 2:05Speaker 2: In space grip, once upon a time, you used to
- 2:08Speaker 2: have to upload or like put money onto it and
- 2:11Speaker 2: it would lock it and then you would use that
- 2:12Speaker 2: money to pay and I wasn't into that, but now
- 2:14Speaker 2: you can just lock the fuel price, so locked it
- 2:17Speaker 2: in a dollar twenty a week later when I went
- 2:18Speaker 2: to fill up, everyone else is paying a dollar.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Seventy and I'm paying one and twenty. That is genius. Huge.
- 2:23Speaker 1: How does it actually work though?
- 2:24Speaker 2: Do you go exactly cashier and you're like, yeah, yeah,
- 2:28Speaker 2: you just show them I think they I think there's
- 2:29Speaker 2: a barcode and they scan it and it yeah, just
- 2:32Speaker 2: locks the price, yep. But it scans everywhere. And top
- 2:35Speaker 2: tip if you're like us and you may be work
- 2:37Speaker 2: in the city and live you know a little further out,
- 2:40Speaker 2: checking both places because sometimes it's cheaper like further out
- 2:43Speaker 2: or in the city, because it does it like based
- 2:45Speaker 2: on a geo location to gotcha.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yeah, big money win you as well. My friends here,
- 2:51Speaker 1: money win from me. Look, it's kind of a money win.
- 2:54Speaker 1: And you're going to laugh at me because as Jess knows,
- 2:57Speaker 1: as everyone listening probably knows, the Internet and George not
- 3:00Speaker 1: the best of friends. So TikTok pasta. I know. So
- 3:07Speaker 1: I'm about eight weeks late, but it's this gorgeous feta
- 3:09Speaker 1: dish and basically you will all know what I'm talking about.
- 3:12Speaker 1: But I made it and it was cost effective and delicious.
- 3:16Speaker 1: So are we calling that a money win? I'm calling
- 3:18Speaker 1: that a money win.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Is it cheaper than like a normal pasta dish? Well,
- 3:22Speaker 2: I mean it depends if you may pasta Yeah, yeah,
- 3:25Speaker 2: she's going to a restaurant.
- 3:26Speaker 1: It looks really good too.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I feel like if you pull that out at a dinner,
- 3:29Speaker 2: especially with older people who maybe haven't seen it on
- 3:32Speaker 2: TikTok before.
- 3:33Speaker 1: True, that's it. That's a crowd pleaser.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I would have been impressed because because we're.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Easily apparently so, it's been a big week here, she's
- 3:45Speaker 2: on the money hq T king. We on Monday had
- 3:49Speaker 2: a money diary from a student. Say, I could say
- 3:51Speaker 2: sixty grand, which as someone who's been a student, you
- 3:54Speaker 2: are still technically currently a student.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I am.
- 3:57Speaker 2: You're getting close to the end. But like Pavo's student,
- 4:00Speaker 2: feels like that's pretty impressive. Wednesday's episode, we had Rebecca
- 4:04Speaker 2: Pritch out come on We Do is an angel in
- 4:06Speaker 2: her own right, but also is a mother. I'm currently
- 4:09Speaker 2: expecting but number two, and she was perfectly placed to
- 4:12Speaker 2: talk all things baby with us. We've had so many
- 4:15Speaker 2: requests about pregnancy, the cost of having a baby, Matt leave,
- 4:19Speaker 2: all those good things. So part one of that true
- 4:22Speaker 2: part I guess you could call it a mini series
- 4:25Speaker 2: went up on Wednesday all about the costs of having
- 4:27Speaker 2: a baby, and the much awaited Matt Leave episode is
- 4:30Speaker 2: coming soon. We get regular dms about it. We heard you,
- 4:34Speaker 2: We're listening, it's coming.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Yet excited. That was such a fun episode to record.
- 4:39Speaker 1: It was so nice having a guest in the studio
- 4:41Speaker 1: because usually it is just F and I. But Beck, Yeah,
- 4:43Speaker 1: she was just a little rate of sunshine in the
- 4:46Speaker 1: studio and so articulate, and she just had so many
- 4:49Speaker 1: hot tips for saving So.
- 4:50Speaker 2: If she said, yeah, she has that really interesting we
- 4:53Speaker 2: you call an experiment or like a like her recording
- 4:57Speaker 2: of every dollar round. Yeah.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah, So she recorded literally every cent she spent throughout
- 5:02Speaker 1: her pregnancy and the first three months I think of
- 5:05Speaker 1: having the bubba, and she ended up spending about seventeen
- 5:08Speaker 1: grand not cheap, not cheap, but it was like one hundred. Yeah.
- 5:12Speaker 2: There's like no statistics on that really, like you and
- 5:15Speaker 2: the estimations, like they give you a range on like
- 5:18Speaker 2: how much it costs, and it's a pretty big difference.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I think the start we threw out was between three
- 5:23Speaker 1: thousand and seventeen thousand, so that is a huge. That's
- 5:25Speaker 1: helpful at not helpful, not helpful, but our chat with
- 5:29Speaker 1: Beck definitely was helpful. So if you are planning a family,
- 5:32Speaker 1: or you're just interested as I am, in how much
- 5:35Speaker 1: that actually costs, then that is a really good episode
- 5:38Speaker 1: to have a listen to. Moving on here, Jessicarr, should
- 5:42Speaker 1: we talk about money wins and confessions from the community
- 5:44Speaker 1: that stood out to us this week?
- 5:45Speaker 2: Oh? Absolutely, there's no Ryan John here to play us
- 5:48Speaker 2: the funky background music. We didn't really plan for this,
- 5:51Speaker 2: We didn't do. You want to kick us off cheeking
- 5:53Speaker 2: with your first money win?
- 5:54Speaker 1: Sure? Okay, what have I got here? I've taken down
- 5:56Speaker 1: a few? Okay, this one was my favorite. This is
- 6:00Speaker 1: from Sarah who has a money loss, but it kind
- 6:02Speaker 1: of turns into a money win. So she broke her
- 6:04Speaker 1: wrist roller skating on Friday. So sad for you, Sarah.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I hope you're okay. But that cost her four hundred
- 6:11Speaker 1: and thirty dollars in unexpected medical expenses, and she also
- 6:15Speaker 1: lost her weekend of wages. Obviously obviously she works casually,
- 6:19Speaker 1: couldn't go into work. Yeah, so that sucks, But the
- 6:21Speaker 1: money win of that is that she's saving money on
- 6:24Speaker 1: petrol for the next six weeks because she can't drive,
- 6:28Speaker 1: so it's kind of Bunny's money win. Yeah, you're gonna
- 6:31Speaker 1: be passive in these times, Sarah. I hope you're back
- 6:33Speaker 1: on the skates soon. Bloodio legend.
- 6:36Speaker 2: My first win is from Hannah, and she said, not
- 6:38Speaker 2: so much a win as a temptation win. But I'm
- 6:40Speaker 2: going to account this as a money win because I
- 6:42Speaker 2: recently did this for Victoria.
- 6:44Speaker 1: She said.
- 6:45Speaker 2: She unsubscribed from a whole bunch of promotional emails to
- 6:48Speaker 2: stop her inbox and getting so cluttered. But the side
- 6:50Speaker 2: benefit is that she's not going to be bombarded by
- 6:52Speaker 2: emails making her want to purchase things, which such a
- 6:56Speaker 2: smart proteb. I've done this for myself, like I said,
- 6:59Speaker 2: I did it for v recently because her inbox, you guys,
- 7:01Speaker 2: a nightmare, and like just removing that temptation those sale things,
- 7:06Speaker 2: like the targeted marketing that you get these days. There's
- 7:09Speaker 2: a really good doco on Netflix called The Social Dilemma,
- 7:12Speaker 2: which talks a lot about the psychology of marketing and
- 7:14Speaker 2: how companies are kind of I don't want to use
- 7:17Speaker 2: the word exploiting, but like utilizing that to get us
- 7:20Speaker 2: to buy and get us to spend. So unsubscribing is
- 7:22Speaker 2: a really great way to remove temptation.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Oh one hundred percent. It is like anytime I'm in
- 7:28Speaker 1: my emails, there's always that promotions tab and yeah, all
- 7:31Speaker 1: every time, and I always click on them, and I'm like, gee,
- 7:33Speaker 1: what are you doing? And then you want things that
- 7:35Speaker 1: five minutes ago you didn't correct because they're not in
- 7:37Speaker 1: your face when you're not subscribe to them.
- 7:39Speaker 2: One hundred scents, So recommend that great there from Hannah.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Next one from Ujking.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Okay, so this one is from Jazz who has some
- 7:48Speaker 1: amazing friends. Get this chess. So she went out for
- 7:51Speaker 1: breakfast with some girlfriends. She ordered something little to keep
- 7:53Speaker 1: the costs down and she's trying to be frugal. The
- 7:55Speaker 1: cafe didn't split bills, so her friend paid for hers
- 7:59Speaker 1: and she wouldn't let her pay her back. That's the
- 8:02Speaker 1: first one. And then the second part of this is
- 8:04Speaker 1: that she caught up with another friend on Sunday at
- 8:07Speaker 1: a distillery gorgeous love a bit of gin. She happened
- 8:10Speaker 1: to know the bartender and got a free cocktail, and
- 8:13Speaker 1: then her friend paid for their tasting flights. That's like
- 8:15Speaker 1: a flight of all of the variations of gin and
- 8:19Speaker 1: then she was invited back to her parents place for dinner,
- 8:22Speaker 1: so free meals, drinks galore.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I love that for her, I know, I feel like
- 8:27Speaker 2: it's a really nice thing too, Like, sometimes you're not
- 8:30Speaker 2: in the position to afford to catch up with friends,
- 8:34Speaker 2: and sometimes you might be in a position where you
- 8:36Speaker 2: are a little bit more free with your money, You're
- 8:38Speaker 2: in a slightly better financial place, and I think it's
- 8:40Speaker 2: really nice sometimes to just be like, hey, like I've
- 8:42Speaker 2: got it.
- 8:43Speaker 1: If you're like, just like a little pay it forward
- 8:47Speaker 1: leaves you with such a nice feeling, and you're exactly right.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Jazz was stressing out about those social events because she
- 8:54Speaker 1: was strapped for cash. So yeah, really nice. Over to you,
- 8:59Speaker 1: my friend, all right.
- 9:00Speaker 2: My next one is from Marni, who has two big
- 9:04Speaker 2: moving money wins.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Moving is expensive.
- 9:06Speaker 2: I did it not that long ago, and it is
- 9:08Speaker 2: not cheap. What are we talking so moving house specifically,
- 9:12Speaker 2: and she instead of hiring a truck, bode a ute.
- 9:15Speaker 2: So she said it added three or four hours to
- 9:17Speaker 2: the move because she had to do multiple trips instead
- 9:19Speaker 2: of just the one load you'd do in a big truck.
- 9:21Speaker 2: But saved her a couple hundred bucks. Good girl, I stress,
- 9:24Speaker 2: I feel like as well. Driving a truck can be stressful.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Have you gotten behind the big wheel?
- 9:28Speaker 2: I attempted it once and I used to drive a
- 9:31Speaker 2: Missi Micraft, so a little bit. The jump from a
- 9:34Speaker 2: micro to a truck is kind of wow. But then
- 9:38Speaker 2: the second part of that is that instead of paying
- 9:41Speaker 2: three hundred dollars for an end of lease clean they
- 9:44Speaker 2: did it all themselves, and they did it better than
- 9:46Speaker 2: they feel like the cleaners would have, and that saved
- 9:47Speaker 2: them another three hundred dollars. Well done, So huge big
- 9:51Speaker 2: money wins there from Marny.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Just to make it about Georgia once again, we my
- 9:56Speaker 1: old housemates and I spent two days cleaning our house. Yeah, scrubbing,
- 10:01Speaker 1: getting down on those knees and scrubbing. As I said,
- 10:04Speaker 1: we thought we'd now dis Yeah, and then we get
- 10:06Speaker 1: a call from our grumpy agents saying, of course you
- 10:10Speaker 1: have not cleaned this a property, spelling your ears. But
- 10:14Speaker 1: we had to pay four hundred and fifty dollars to
- 10:18Speaker 1: clean the whole place. It's so expensive.
- 10:20Speaker 2: So here's a fun fact for you guys. Did you
- 10:22Speaker 2: know at least in Victoria, the rental laws state that
- 10:25Speaker 2: you're only required to leave it in a reasonable cleanly condition,
- 10:29Speaker 2: Like they can't actually penalize you from having like a
- 10:33Speaker 2: few streaks on the shower or whatever. Like. The law
- 10:35Speaker 2: states that it just has to be in like reasonable
- 10:38Speaker 2: condition and cleanliness. Oh my god, as definitely was reasonable
- 10:42Speaker 2: real estate, and like rental property managers will sometimes like
- 10:45Speaker 2: obviously they want to do the best they can for
- 10:47Speaker 2: their investment owners, leave your rental property clean. Don't get
- 10:51Speaker 2: clean up after yourself. But it doesn't have to be
- 10:55Speaker 2: speaking span and you don't have to spend all of
- 10:58Speaker 2: those hundreds of dollars speaking anyway, I've.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Got a few years, ol choose just one last one
- 11:05Speaker 1: as with this one is from Jane, who was inspired
- 11:08Speaker 1: by Victoria's call on the podcast to get a cheaper
- 11:10Speaker 1: phone plan. Remember that a few weeks ago. Oh my god,
- 11:12Speaker 1: not even for a dollar. That was the best. He
- 11:17Speaker 1: was great and the little nurse Rey rhymes in the
- 11:18Speaker 1: background playing on the t BES. Yeah, it was gorgeous. Anyway,
- 11:21Speaker 1: Jane called up Optus. She got them to give her
- 11:24Speaker 1: the thirty nine dollars ten gigabyte plan for nineteen dollars
- 11:28Speaker 1: with an extra five gigabyte. All she said was she
- 11:31Speaker 1: wanted a cheaper plan as she could see better deals elsewhere,
- 11:33Speaker 1: and that's what they gave to her. Amazing.
- 11:36Speaker 2: If you haven't, there's a script on the website. Check
- 11:39Speaker 2: it out, get yourself a better deal. I know we
- 11:41Speaker 2: plug it a lot, but the amount of money you
- 11:43Speaker 2: can save on just like you're recurring general bills. Reading
- 11:47Speaker 2: the Facebook group, people are dating hundreds.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly right. Just finish us off with our
- 11:53Speaker 1: final money win of the week.
- 11:55Speaker 2: All right, My last win is a goodie from Natalie.
- 11:59Speaker 2: She says they scored a baby tag along.
- 12:01Speaker 1: She's one of those cute little like a tricycle.
- 12:05Speaker 2: It in clothes that you put a baby in on
- 12:07Speaker 2: the back of the bike, so it's like a trailer.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Look the trailer.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Yeah, put the baby in the trailer, put the trailer
- 12:12Speaker 2: on your bike and you pedal around and they get
- 12:14Speaker 2: to sit in the back. Amazing, much more safe than
- 12:16Speaker 2: a trailer obviously specifically designed to hold children. But she
- 12:20Speaker 2: got a tag along for free because they noticed their
- 12:23Speaker 2: neighbors had it sitting in.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Their yard and they stole it.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Look, I mean potential money and perhaps a league lost no,
- 12:31Speaker 2: but they asked if they could purchase it, and then
- 12:33Speaker 2: the neighbor gave it to.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Them for free.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Stop.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I feel like that's such.
- 12:37Speaker 2: A nice thing to do again, the pay it forward yeahtality, yeap,
- 12:42Speaker 2: very into that. And there's a really cute pick of here.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Let me turn it around so you can stand my
- 12:47Speaker 2: poor description. Look, buddy, Yeah, there's things that there's like
- 12:51Speaker 2: three kids.
- 12:51Speaker 1: In there as well. That's a decent The best friends
- 12:55Speaker 1: ride and they stuff.
- 13:02Speaker 2: All right. Well, Now, normally we'd have a bit more
- 13:05Speaker 2: back and forth and discussion because they'd be double the people.
- 13:08Speaker 1: They'd be double the people.
- 13:09Speaker 2: So I thought, let's just chat some fun stuff from
- 13:11Speaker 2: the group. One of my favorite parts of my job
- 13:14Speaker 2: is the fact that I'm in the group every day,
- 13:16Speaker 2: like reading things and commenting on things, and we just
- 13:19Speaker 2: have so many fantastic discussions. So like, not at all subtle, plug.
- 13:22Speaker 2: If you're listening to the pot and not in the
- 13:24Speaker 2: Facebook group, get amongst it. There's a lot going on.
- 13:28Speaker 2: I wanted to kick it off with something that popped off.
- 13:31Speaker 2: We had a thread posted just kind of asking a
- 13:34Speaker 2: few general questions about the gender pay gap yep, and
- 13:38Speaker 2: a lot of people expectedly talking about what they had experienced,
- 13:42Speaker 2: the fact that they feel like it's real. I just
- 13:44Speaker 2: wanted to ask George, like, what do you feel like
- 13:46Speaker 2: there is a gender pay gap? What is your personal
- 13:48Speaker 2: experience in this area. I know it's a big it's
- 13:52Speaker 2: a big one to tackle, but I feel like it's
- 13:54Speaker 2: it's worth talking about.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Oh, definitely, definitely. See it's it's hard to know because
- 14:00Speaker 1: you and I, Jess, we're still quite young, so it's
- 14:04Speaker 1: hard to know because we It's hard to say this
- 14:06Speaker 1: because we're talking about she's on the money.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Like, we're in a privileged position where we work for
- 14:11Speaker 2: a business that really values it the employees. There are
- 14:14Speaker 2: very open discussions around money. Yep. Like it's all very transparent,
- 14:18Speaker 2: but most people aren't that fortunate. Yes, which makes it tricky.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I feel like, no, one hundred percent. So obviously you
- 14:26Speaker 1: and Digests have it pretty good at she's on the money,
- 14:30Speaker 1: So this isn't something that I've been directly affected by. Yeah,
- 14:35Speaker 1: we're very lucky that our boss is a financial advisor
- 14:37Speaker 1: and we're having these discussions every single day, and we're
- 14:40Speaker 1: seeing them in the community and we can engage with them.
- 14:43Speaker 1: But at the same time, it is still such a
- 14:46Speaker 1: huge issue and it's something that kind of needs to
- 14:51Speaker 1: be addressed, but I don't really know what the answer is.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Like, it's a tough one, isn't it. Yeah, there is
- 14:58Speaker 2: interesting along this lines. There was an interesting post on
- 15:01Speaker 2: some proposed laws that would mandate pay transparency and things
- 15:07Speaker 2: like that. So at the moment, it's legal for there
- 15:09Speaker 2: to be a clause in your contract that says you
- 15:12Speaker 2: cannot discuss your salary with another employee, which I think
- 15:15Speaker 2: is an absolute joke because that's how businesses leverage, you know, secrecy.
- 15:21Speaker 2: If you don't know what If I don't know what
- 15:22Speaker 2: you're earning and you don't know what I'm earning, then
- 15:25Speaker 2: how can you ever find out the difference exactly right?
- 15:27Speaker 2: And that's where I guess that gender pay gap comes in.
- 15:29Speaker 2: If there are males that are earning more, maybe you're
- 15:33Speaker 2: not aware of it or you're not confident enough to
- 15:35Speaker 2: discuss it. Have you ever had this in a passwordplace?
- 15:40Speaker 1: Yes and no.
- 15:41Speaker 2: So I don't want to get too specific here, but
- 15:45Speaker 2: in a role that I worked previously, I was doing
- 15:47Speaker 2: something very comparable to a male counterpart, and it was
- 15:51Speaker 2: in an industry that is definitely, I would say Mayle
- 15:54Speaker 2: will dominate it. We were really good friends and I
- 15:57Speaker 2: knew that he was earning more than me, and there
- 16:01Speaker 2: were a few new answers to it, Like it wasn't
- 16:03Speaker 2: super clear cut, but I just remember thinking that, like
- 16:06Speaker 2: I didn't know how to address it. I didn't really
- 16:09Speaker 2: know how to bring up that feeling of oh, like
- 16:12Speaker 2: I think I'm working just as hard as you, and
- 16:14Speaker 2: I'm doing just as much as you, but you're earning,
- 16:17Speaker 2: you know, fifteen thousand dollars more than me. It's just
- 16:20Speaker 2: very it can be very overwhelming, I think, and I
- 16:24Speaker 2: feel like what we were seeing on this thread in
- 16:26Speaker 2: the group is a lot of people talking about times
- 16:29Speaker 2: that they had been given really poor reasons for why
- 16:32Speaker 2: they were perhaps earning less, like women are less confident,
- 16:36Speaker 2: or women are doing less in the workplace, or they
- 16:38Speaker 2: have less ambition, and that's why your male counterpart is
- 16:41Speaker 2: earning more. And to be honest, I never got to
- 16:44Speaker 2: that point because I never felt comfortable to have that conversation.
- 16:46Speaker 2: And that's on me a hundred percent. But yeah, it's
- 16:51Speaker 2: a really tough one. And I think like having those
- 16:53Speaker 2: conversations like what happened in the group. Opening up people's
- 16:57Speaker 2: eyes and just being more open in gen which is
- 17:00Speaker 2: what we talk about too much on the pod, is
- 17:03Speaker 2: a really good step forward to kind of challenging those ideals.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Have you ever spoken with your mates that cho's on
- 17:11Speaker 1: the money or in previous workplaces about your pay, because
- 17:16Speaker 1: that is a really difficult.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Yeah, not so much. At other workplaces, she's on the money. Like,
- 17:23Speaker 2: I'm pretty across it, and like we're all very open
- 17:25Speaker 2: and that's like a huge change for me. But even
- 17:29Speaker 2: strangely in my close friendship group, like it's never really
- 17:33Speaker 2: been a conversation that's been had. Which I was speaking
- 17:36Speaker 2: to a friend recently and it came up kind of organically,
- 17:39Speaker 2: and I was very happy and open to share my
- 17:41Speaker 2: salary because, like I said, like, we have such an
- 17:44Speaker 2: open environment here that it's kind of just second nature now.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Yeah, and I.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Like I did it, and then there was this brief
- 17:49Speaker 2: second where I was like, oh my god, like what
- 17:51Speaker 2: did I just do? And then obviously everything was fine,
- 17:54Speaker 2: like we just continued on the conversation. But yeah, I
- 17:57Speaker 2: don't know how about you are your are your friends
- 17:59Speaker 2: the same? Ah?
- 18:01Speaker 1: Yeah, Similarly, it's not something that we really discuss like
- 18:06Speaker 1: I think for a few of them, money is still
- 18:09Speaker 1: something that makes them quite anxious, and it's just not
- 18:12Speaker 1: an area they feel comfortable wandering into.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Yeah, which, of course, if you're not comfortable, we're not
- 18:18Speaker 2: saying you need to be screaming things from really not. No,
- 18:21Speaker 2: you do you make sure that you're comfortable. But if
- 18:24Speaker 2: you are able to facilitate those conversations or if maybe
- 18:26Speaker 2: she's on the money, is a good you know, a
- 18:29Speaker 2: nice opening or a nice segue for you to kind
- 18:31Speaker 2: of start having those discussions. I think it's really powerful
- 18:35Speaker 2: because knowledge is power.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Did any other posts kind of stand out to you
- 18:42Speaker 1: this week? I know that there was one about sugar
- 18:43Speaker 1: daddies that kind of popped.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Off about face, but yeah, that one was so popular, random,
- 18:50Speaker 2: super random.
- 18:51Speaker 1: We actually it was interesting because I.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Do a lot of the moderation, as I'm sure a
- 18:55Speaker 2: lot of people know in the group, and that particular
- 18:57Speaker 2: post was reported times lots of times, and we kept
- 19:03Speaker 2: it up because in case you aren't aware, like, we
- 19:06Speaker 2: are very sex Can I say sex or is it
- 19:09Speaker 2: going to get like?
- 19:10Speaker 1: Does that make that sex is fun?
- 19:11Speaker 2: Yeah? We are very sex work positive. He are at
- 19:14Speaker 2: this podcast. We believe all work is relevant work. We
- 19:17Speaker 2: are supportive of you. As long as you are safe
- 19:20Speaker 2: and you are happy, that is all that we care about.
- 19:22Speaker 2: And so it was just a really kind of fun conversation.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Really it was a few people jumped in with their
- 19:27Speaker 2: opinions on what they thought was and wasn't right. At
- 19:30Speaker 2: the end of the day, I personally think it's a
- 19:33Speaker 2: personal decision that only you can make for yourself.
- 19:36Speaker 1: But it's also kind.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Of crazy to hear how much money people have spent
- 19:39Speaker 2: on what Like one guy dropped a couple of grand
- 19:42Speaker 2: for pictures of someone's feet, and no judgment, I'll send
- 19:48Speaker 2: you three grad for a photo of your foot. I'd
- 19:49Speaker 2: be like, have ten foot kidding you can both fee.
- 19:53Speaker 1: You know the price? That is crazy.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it's wild. Look to each their own, no judgment
- 19:59Speaker 2: from me, but it was a really interesting threat to
- 20:02Speaker 2: kind of read and see what some people's experiences were.
- 20:06Speaker 1: So just search sugar Daddy in the group friends and
- 20:09Speaker 1: it will come up and you can have a little
- 20:11Speaker 1: trawl of what everyone had to say. My favorite comment
- 20:14Speaker 1: on that thread, Jess was from Anne, who wrote, I
- 20:18Speaker 1: am a seventy two year old woman and this has
- 20:20Speaker 1: been the most interesting thread I followed all year. Oh
- 20:23Speaker 1: my god, queen, Yes, girl, love that she's in the community. Ah, welcome, welcome,
- 20:29Speaker 1: and all right, guys, we will leave today's incredibly rogue

- 21:02Speaker 2: Now, the advice shared on She's on the Money is
- 21:04Speaker 2: generally nature and does not consider it individual circumstances. She's
- 21:08Speaker 2: on the money exists purely for educational purposes and should
- 21:11Speaker 2: not be relied upon to making an investment or financial decision.
- 21:14Speaker 2: And we promise Victorias aren't.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I didn't even get to the numbers, and.
