Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: A couple videos taken down from Facebook yesterday when I was talking about GLP1 agonists, these weight loss drugs that are FDA approved, and talking about them because they do cause a lot of weight loss, but part of that weight is going to be muscle.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: And you might be able to prohibit a lot of that or prevent a lot of that if you actually start doing some kind of muscular building exercises.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Maybe some kind of push-ups, maybe calisthenics, but probably more in line with that's going to be the weights.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: But that's really not what I want to talk about today.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Today I want to talk about accessing body fat.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: A lot of people are under the idea that caloric restriction carries with it a lot of science-proven and big results out there that are really saving the world one calorie at a time.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: I will tell you that that's not the case.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: In fact, to be able to tap into your stored body fat, probably the best way to do it is you're going to have to switch fuel systems so you can access the stored body fat in your calorie burn.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: What I mean by that is you're going to have to lower your sugar and carbohydrate intake to such a point that your body does switch over, and you might have heard terms like keto flu that describe that process, especially if you've been eating sugar and carbohydrates for a very long time and have never taken a break.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: In life, breaks are good.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: So if you are one that has been eating a lot of sugar and carbohydrates over time, you might want to give it a break and give your body a chance to switch over to the other fuel, which is going to be the stored body fat on your well body.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: You have a caloric gathering issue.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: You have energy.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: You haven't been parsing the energy correctly.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: You have been overconsuming whatever types of food and you see that overconsumption when you look at your body in the mirror and you see body fat, rolls of fat, and a lot of jiggly skin.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Now, if you're seeing that on the outside, you probably have a mess going on on the inside with another type of fat called visceral fat.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: While it is fat, just like the outside fat, it is around your organs and it's choking them out, literally.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: That's why they have the high blood pressure in some cases, because the pressure in the body is so much, because of all the excess fat pushing on everything and causing the pressure to be higher.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Getting access to the stored body fat can be done.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: I did it with fasting.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Fasting works great for me.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Not eating for several days on end, or a few or even one, or maybe just having one meal a day might do it.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: But whenever you are eating, you're going to have to gingerly approach that as well.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: And of course, medical supervision might be required for everyone.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Talk to your doctor, see if it's okay for you to miss the next meal, just to make sure that you're not going to be causing yourself harm and not trying to be sarcastic or funny with that.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: If you're taking medicine, sometimes medicine is dependent on you being able to take it with food.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: And also, medicine has different effects, stronger versus weaker, depending on the state of your digestive system.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: Is your body currently in digesting food and is energy being taken up?
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: So it's going to basically blunt the effect of the medicines, the prescription meds that you're currently taking.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: If you do go without food, the end result could be the incoming medicine that you're taking is going to be too much of a dose because now your body is going to get hit with all of it without it basically being dulled by the food or your body in a different state.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: Once you start to fast, you will access the stored body fat for energy and for fuel.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: If you do that and are not used to it and you've never done it before, then you definitely need to go out, and everybody should talk to their doctor and get permission.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Once you start tapping into the stored body fat, it's going to feel weird and it's going to feel a little bit uncomfortable, and you're probably going to feel hungry, you're probably going to be a little irritated until you start to get used to it.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Once you develop that, and once you're able to actually be on your stored body fat by cutting your carbohydrate level in sugar down really, really low.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: And carbohydrates is carbohydrates.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: So carbohydrates are also contained in vegetables and fruits.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: So you have carbohydrates, that's what we're looking at.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: One form of carbohydrates is sugar.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: One form of carbohydrates is starches.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: One form of carbohydrates is pasta.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Bread is a form of carbohydrates, rice, beans, these sorts of things.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Now you're like, oh my God, Connor, what am I going to eat?
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Well, you might want to try meat.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: You might want to try fish.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: You might want to try eggs, vegetables, and some fruits.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't get too excited with the fruits.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: I would try to keep the fruits at bay for a little while because what we want is we want to cause your body to switch over to this other fuel mechanism.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: And as a result of that, you're going to enter something called ketosis, where basically your body is eating its own stored body fat for energy.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Fasting for me is the best way to access that particular fuel source because when I don't eat for a little while, my body switches into it rather nicely.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: What I have to pay attention to, and if you're going to play with fasting or use fasting in a dietary approach, you're going to want to make sure that when you start eating again, you don't blow it out of the park.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: You don't eat that next meal.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: It's going to be the last meal you'll ever have.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: You have to watch out and keep yourself in control.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: And I know if you could control yourself to this point, you wouldn't have been fat.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: Fat kind of sneaks up.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: In fact, looking at numbers, losing 50 pounds is going to take, with total fasting, at least 50 days, maybe more.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Depends on your activity level.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: So now you can get a timeline to find out how long it's going to take you to drop all that fat.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Now, of course, I'm not talking about not eating for 50 days, although there was a gentleman named Angus Barbieri that fasted for 360, actually 370 something days, I believe.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: At least a year.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: He went without eating any food, didn't have any calories coming in.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: He had black coffee and a multivitamin.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: That was his diet.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: For over a year, he dropped a lot of fat.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: And as far as the doctors were concerned, that was medically supervised, he was very healthy at the end, torching off a lot of fat, and being in incredible shape.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: You're not Angus Barbieri, probably.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: But understand there's going to be hunger.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: You're going to be hungry.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: You're going to want to eat.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: You're going to get tired of it.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: And it's okay if you decide to eat at some point.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: It's okay if you start feeling cramps or feeling weird and lightheaded and don't want to push through.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: It's okay to eat.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Now that's a very dangerous area to be because I know my body.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: And I know when I'm getting a headache or starting to feel funny, it's me needing to push through.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: I don't need to fulfill that need at that point because I'm just being weak.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: I'm just being ridiculous and silly.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: But that's me.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're not that way.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're so in tune with yourself that when you start feeling funny or a little lightheaded, you need to change your method of approach to best protect yourself and continue to live.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: So you know yourself that well, great, but that's why this medical supervision could be incredibly important and should be at least consulted with before you start to change anything in your diet or anything else, especially if you're on medication, but especially in every other area, because you really don't know.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: It's not bad to go in and get everything looked at, have everything written down, get all your numbers if you can afford it, if you have medical insurance and that sort of thing, and just see what they say, and then you have a baseline, you have a place to start.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: And then, like I did when I went back to the doctor eight months later, after dropping 135 pounds of fat, she was completely blown away to such an effect that I told her that I took her advice.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: I bought the book called The Obesity Code by Jason Fung.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: You can find it on Amazon.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: And when I did so, it made so much sense to me.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: I started doing super long fasts.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: In fact, I exceeded, or I got to, I didn't exceed.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: I did a 14-day water fast as well, and that's what made sense to me.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: When I was able to go that long without food, it made sense that, oh, that's what the fat on my body is for.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: That's what all that excessive skin and excessive blubber was for, for not eating for an extended period of time, even a short period of time.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: It works both.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: Be well, take care of each other.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: Hopefully, something in this video resonated.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: If not anything, getting checked up just to see where you are isn't a bad idea.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: But when you start this, you will start to like this.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: You start fasting, going without food, you realize how strong you really are, and you have actually gone past being 1% of the world because most people don't.
