- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi. It's Adam here now.
- 0:41This is a hypnosis session about the psychological strength and
- 0:46resilience, the mindset required to come back from an injury.
- 0:52And I was working with a very talented and ambitious young
- 0:58client who really. Wanted to make.
- 1:00It big in college football, American football, but they had
- 1:05a brutal injury and they were in the rehabilitation phase.
- 1:11But they knew. That things like scholarships
- 1:13were dependent on them doing well in the next season and
- 1:17therefore. They couldn't afford.
- 1:19To be tentative and hold. Back during this process, so
- 1:23they wanted. A really strong mindset
- 1:26connected to this idea that they can recover quickly, they can do
- 1:32the training, they have that mental strength.
- 1:35They don't need to kind of limit themself or be worried about
- 1:41injuries that they could take on the role models of people from
- 1:45the past that had come back stronger after injuries and had
- 1:49that mental strength. But also the idea that study is
- 1:54also important that these scholarships required certain
- 1:57averages in their. Grades as well as.
- 2:00Performance on the field and it uses levels of disassociation.
- 2:04One of the key recruitment techniques is the show reel
- 2:09video. So they imagine seeing their
- 2:12performances, seeing their training and even seeing their
- 2:15future on a screen. And this particular client would
- 2:18see their video on a laptop, a MacBook, and they would look at
- 2:22that on the screen. So we use that integrated within
- 2:25this. And I filmed this when I was out
- 2:27in Dubai, so I don't have my normal microphone.
- 2:31But at at its core, it's quite a thorough session that is useful,
- 2:36broadly speaking, for people coming back after injury.
- 2:41It's a rehabilitation session. Now everything I do is bespoke
- 2:45to the clients that I work with. This was American football.
- 2:49It was a particular type of injury based around the knee and
- 2:54the the legs, what they needed to do and their motives were
- 2:58getting into a college and getting a scholarship and eating
- 3:01more protein. That might not be your goals.
- 3:04So if you like the idea of something created for you and
- 3:08bespoke and customized, have a look in the description.
- 3:12The show notes for this episode and.
- 3:13You'll see various. Ways of working with me.
- 3:17For now, though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 3:20won't be distracted or disturbed.
- 3:22Relax. And enjoy the session.
- 3:53Take a deep breath in and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 4:01resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 4:04And as you exhale, just allow your eyelids to.
- 4:08Close. And as your eyes close, that's
- 4:11it. Just release any tension in your
- 4:13jaw, your neck, your shoulders, breathing in that feeling of
- 4:18calm relaxation and as you exhale.
- 4:24Just. Allowing any feelings of
- 4:25tension. Any stress?
- 4:29Any worries to? Leave your body.
- 4:33In your outward breath. That's it.
- 4:38And the. Deeper you breathe.
- 4:40The more relaxed you feel and the more relaxed you.
- 4:44Feel the deeper. You breathe.
- 4:47That's it. As your body relaxes, your
- 4:48imagination can awaken. But for now, just begin by
- 4:55bringing your attention into your body, not to fully relax
- 5:01it, but just to feel it more clearly.
- 5:07I want you to start with your feet.
- 5:10Maybe you can notice your feet making contact with the ground
- 5:16and then focus your attention on your legs.
- 5:20And maybe you could imagine muscle fibers, the structure of
- 5:26your skeleton, the stability that's already there, and then
- 5:35just bring your awareness into your knees, not analysing, just
- 5:41noticing. And I want you to get a sense, a
- 5:46feeling of gratitude or perspective that these knees
- 5:52have recovered and are recovering.
- 5:56They are adapted and adapting, rebuilt and rebuilding as you
- 6:05connect with the idea. That your body.
- 6:09Doesn't go backwards. Breathing and relaxation,
- 6:13exhaling tension and accepting that your body learns it
- 6:18strengthens and. It improves.
- 6:24And the more you notice that, the more required confidence
- 6:30begins to build. And I want you to think, think
- 6:38of a time when you were stepping onto the field, not a future
- 6:45game. And it doesn't even have to be a
- 6:47pass game, just the feeling of stepping out onto the field, the
- 6:55sound. The space the.
- 6:57Sense of focus. And maybe you can notice how
- 7:02your attention naturally narrows, that when it's time to
- 7:06play, there's less thinking and more reacting, almost like your
- 7:13body knows what to do. Like everything slows down just
- 7:20enough for you to read, respond, act, and decide.
- 7:29And I want you to think when you were in that state, the best
- 7:33that it's ever been. Maybe we can call it a?
- 7:37Performance state, A flow state. Maybe you can remember where you
- 7:43were and what you were. Doing at that.
- 7:47Point in time where you had all of the resources.
- 7:52You. Needed.
- 7:54It just seemed to flow. And the more you think about
- 7:59that state, the more you realize that your mind already knows how
- 8:06to access it. And I want you to imagine.
- 8:13Somewhere. Just off that field is a small
- 8:17room, maybe a room that doesn't. Exist but it.
- 8:21Does in your imagination, and I want you to imagine walking into
- 8:26that. Room.
- 8:27And seeing a MacBook there on a table and I want you to imagine
- 8:33opening the MacBook. And it's.
- 8:36Either your password. Or your fingerprint that opens.
- 8:39It and I want you to imagine you're seeing a video on that
- 8:48screen, you know it's not reality, you know it's just a
- 8:52recording and on that screen I want you to see a.
- 8:57Recording of the injury. Maybe you're seeing the drill,
- 9:03the exercise, but you're seeing it like a camera recorded it.
- 9:08You're not in your body, and I want you to imagine that you
- 9:14could change things on this screen.
- 9:19I want you to imagine turning it from color into black and white,
- 9:25and just notice how that turns down the intensity.
- 9:31You can observe what happened without needing to experience
- 9:37what happened. I want.
- 9:42You to imagine then. Shrinking it down.
- 9:45Making it small. It's a struggle to even see what
- 9:48was happening, but I want you to get a sense that it is now
- 9:53small, distant, black and white, and you can extract all the
- 9:59wisdom. From that injury, all of the
- 10:03things you would do differently in preparation in the actual.
- 10:10Event itself. And in the.
- 10:13Days and weeks that followed and I want you to get a sense that
- 10:18this is all your mind. Needs to know about that injury.
- 10:22No need to. Replay it.
- 10:24No need to. Be back in your.
- 10:25Body just knowing the memory is there.
- 10:29Is enough to extract all the value, and that's enough unless
- 10:38you watch it. You can rewind.
- 10:41Play it forward, you notice that perhaps?
- 10:48When you fell maybe on that left side.
- 10:53That moment is over. It was in the.
- 10:57Past Finished Complete No. Need to go.
- 11:02Back to that. Memory anymore.
- 11:05And what remains is not. Danger.
- 11:09What remains is information, experience and growth.
- 11:20And as you stare at that image from the past, you realize most
- 11:28players never have to rebuild, and that means they never
- 11:33develop what you now have. They say that every cloud has a
- 11:40silver lining, and I want you to focus on the silver lining, all
- 11:47of the unexpected benefits or advantages to that injury.
- 11:54I wonder if you have more awareness, more discipline, more
- 12:02resilience, more knowledge, perhaps more mental fortitude,
- 12:11and just allow your brain to go on a mission to extract all of
- 12:18the benefits that came from something undesirable.
- 12:23You didn't want the injury. You don't want any more injuries
- 12:27like it, but that doesn't mean it didn't give you something
- 12:32valuable. So give yourself permission to
- 12:35extract the value and perhaps coming to a conclusion that you
- 12:41didn't just recover, you became harder to break.
- 12:51And I wonder whether it will be minutes, hours, days, or weeks
- 12:57where you can reach a point of gratitude that you had the
- 13:04opportunity to make a comeback and come back stronger than you
- 13:11were before. As you hold that thought, I want
- 13:17you to imagine seeing on screen a bright colorful image of
- 13:24someone. That you know or know of.
- 13:29Who came back stronger? Maybe it's someone that you play
- 13:34with, or maybe it's someone that was playing before you were
- 13:38born, or maybe it's someone that's playing now in the NFL.
- 13:45I want you to imagine seeing, seeing a montage, a short film
- 13:55of them before them getting injured, them rehabilitating and
- 14:00then coming back stronger. I want you to see how they
- 14:06moved, see how they were able to trust their body and when you've
- 14:15got a clear idea and you can see them on screen after.
- 14:20Their recovery. When they did indeed come back
- 14:24stronger, I want you to imagine seeing them at a level that they
- 14:30could never have been before the injury.
- 14:34And when you can see that version of them on the screen,
- 14:36let me know by nodding your head.
- 14:40That's it. And then imagine stepping into
- 14:43the screen and then beyond the screen into their body.
- 14:48I want you to imagine seeing through.
- 14:50Their eyes. But more importantly, I want you
- 14:54to connect with feeling that certainty, a sense of what it
- 15:02would be to feel that you're stronger because you experienced
- 15:09the injury and recovered from it.
- 15:15And I want you to imagine perhaps feeling that feeling in
- 15:19your body and imagine yourself on that field, but in your
- 15:25position and just feeling that sense of invincibility, a
- 15:32wonderful feeling of feeling unbreakable, that you've came
- 15:37back stronger. And I wonder if you can dial up
- 15:45self trust, the ability to trust your body, trust your knees,
- 15:52trust your tendons, trust your muscles with an idea that
- 15:57recovery and strength requires the right ingredients.
- 16:06And as you appreciate your body's ability to rebuild,
- 16:09adapt, and come back stronger, I want you to feel a desire to
- 16:17make miss your body, to give it the right fuel to come back
- 16:24stronger. And I wonder if you can connect
- 16:34to an idea that there's a difference between trying to
- 16:40play well and being the kind of player who makes the big plays.
- 16:51And from now on, I wonder if there is an identity that begins
- 16:57to form an identity of being an unbreakable playmaker.
- 17:11If the. Idea of being unbreakable is
- 17:16willing to be accepted by your unconscious mind.
- 17:18Let me know by nodding your head.
- 17:23And it's the idea of that unbreakable is an identity.
- 17:31Bones may break and bones may heal, but feeling unbreakable
- 17:37gives you an edge, a Viking mentality.
- 17:42Fearless no matter what and who is in front.
- 17:48But not just strength, power, resilience.
- 17:55I want you to embrace the creativity of a playmaker.
- 18:02The person who sees the opportunity, sees the
- 18:06possibilities, looking for that window of opportunity in which
- 18:13to make something happen. Not waiting, not hesitating, and
- 18:21certainly not holding back. I want you to connect to that
- 18:27identity, the unbreakable playmaker.
- 18:32That. Reads, reacts, commits.
- 18:37Because the playmakers don't think about the outcomes.
- 18:41They trust their training, their intuition, and their ability to
- 18:47know that where they focus on increases the probability of
- 18:54those self fulfilling prophecies.
- 18:57Believing it can happen activates the resources to make
- 19:02it happen. And if that feeling ever shows
- 19:09up, that feeling of trepidation, anxiety, a feeling of fear, I
- 19:21wonder if you can recognize it differently now, No longer as
- 19:26fear, but as readiness, your body preparing you to move
- 19:34faster, react sharper. So instead of pulling back, you
- 19:42lean in. Because those same hormones link
- 19:47to anxiety. Adrenaline and cortisol actually
- 19:53are the very same hormones that give you the ability to have an
- 19:58edge when playing. Consider adrenaline, the ability
- 20:04to continue playing through pain, to be more alert, to think
- 20:142 moves ahead. And the cortisol is just
- 20:18alertness. Consider it a win win.
- 20:22If you feel relaxed, you're in the flow state.
- 20:26And if you feel that surge of alertness, then you're in the
- 20:31alert state and trust that your body will utilize whatever state
- 20:36you're in to make the most of the resources that exist in that
- 20:42state. I want you to imagine drifting
- 20:49back into that room, seeing the laptop.
- 20:54And now imagine the next game. Not a practice game, the next
- 21:03major game, a key moment. Maybe you can imagine a play
- 21:10unfolding and observe yourself without hesitation, moving
- 21:17instinctively, decisively. And maybe it's a big tackle, an
- 21:25interception. Maybe it's something where you
- 21:30even surprise yourself. And as you see yourself on the
- 21:36screen making those plays, I want you to get a sense that you
- 21:46are creating in advance the very plays that will end up in your
- 21:51show reel. I want you to create an idea.
- 22:01You're not waiting for the right opportunity.
- 22:05You are making the right opportunity.
- 22:09And I want you to see how natural that looks on that
- 22:15version of you, not holding back, see you more intense, see
- 22:24you more committed, and then repeat, almost flicking to the
- 22:333456 moments in the game which are all about you.
- 22:38And then another moment, and then another, each one building
- 22:44your highlight reel. And just as you're watching, I
- 22:48want you to imagine coaches are watching, Scouts are watching,
- 22:55seeing you act with impact, not hesitation.
- 23:00And that's what stands out. There is an invincibility and
- 23:05unbreakable resilience in that version of you in your very next
- 23:12game. And as you think about the
- 23:16season, you realise there's only a limited number of games, and
- 23:25within each game only a limited number of opportunities.
- 23:31And each one matters. Not in a stressful way, but in a
- 23:38focused way. I want you to realize that
- 23:42you're not here to play safe. You're here to make it count.
- 23:47And alongside all of this, there's a deeper sense of trust.
- 23:57That when you prepare fully, you can let go and play freely,
- 24:05doing your part and trusting the rest.
- 24:11And whether you think of it in terms of faith, God, your
- 24:16unconscious or your intuition, you realise that something has
- 24:22your back and that when you fully commit, you.
- 24:26Open up the. Resources required to turn a
- 24:32thought into an action, an action into a result.
- 24:40But before you leave that screen, I want you to also see,
- 24:45see how you study, study in the classroom, see how you study
- 24:52after school. I want you to see the same level
- 24:57of dedication on the field, off the field, and in the same way
- 25:04that you can imagine your next game, I want you to imagine
- 25:11taking exams and tests and seeing that same resilience,
- 25:16same mental fortitude, same level of self belief and fully
- 25:21committing. And I want you to get a sense
- 25:25that this creates balance. Intellectual effort complements
- 25:31physical effort, and physical effort complements intellectual
- 25:36effort. The stronger you get in one, the
- 25:39more you unlock resources into the other.
- 25:45What fuels your body is protein and what fuels your mind is
- 25:52learning a cycle that feeds off each other to make you stronger,
- 25:59smarter, bigger and ready for any challenge that you face.
- 26:12And I want you to imagine. Imagine at the end of the
- 26:15season. And I want you to imagine seeing
- 26:20no longer on a laptop, now I want you to imagine on a big
- 26:25cinema sized screen. See yourself with your highlight
- 26:32reel, play after play, tackle after tackle, interception.
- 26:40Perhaps something rare, unusual, impressive.
- 26:47See how many people you've inspired on the way.
- 26:49But see that you're also impressing those that make
- 26:54decisions on places, highly coveted places that many people
- 27:01are competing for. And if you can get a sense of
- 27:05what that future film, that show reel will look like, the version
- 27:13of you that is invincible, unbreakable, resilient, strong,
- 27:17focused, determined. Let me know about nodding your
- 27:21head. That's in.
- 27:26I want you to fully embrace that identity that you are
- 27:30unbreakable, but you are the playmaker.
- 27:35I want you to get a sense that there will be opportunities only
- 27:39you can see, and you are unleashing the desire to take
- 27:44them. And as you hold that thought, I
- 27:48want you to go back to 1 moment. Go back to the moment
- 27:54immediately after your injury. Maybe you're in a clinic or
- 28:00hospital recovering somewhere, and I want you to tell that
- 28:06version of you that was injured, this is not the breaking of
- 28:12them, it's the making of them. I want you to give them the
- 28:19resources you now have back then, in that moment, so they
- 28:25extract all the value from the injury and fuel it into a
- 28:32defiant, unbreakable resilience. It's time to leave this place in
- 28:40your imagination, but taking all these resources with you, a
- 28:45willingness to go all in, avoiding any future regrets of
- 28:51wondering what if? What if I could have done more?
- 29:00I want you to take a deep breath in through your nose and out
- 29:05through your nose and just wiggle your fingers and wiggle
- 29:08your toes. Connect and calibrate into the
- 29:11here and the now as I count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 29:17Starting to count 123 waking up 456, more alert. 7-8.
- 29:25Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910 Wide awake,
- 29:29wide awake. Wide awake.
- 29:37Thank. You.
