- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, my name's Santasha Nabananga Bamblet. I'm a proud Yr
- 0:04Speaker 1: the Order Kerney Whalbury and a waddery woman. And before
- 0:08Speaker 1: we get started on She's on the Money podcast, I
- 0:11Speaker 1: would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land
- 0:14Speaker 1: of which this podcast is recorded on a wondery country,
- 0:18Speaker 1: acknowledging the elders, the ancestors and the next generation coming through.
- 0:23Speaker 1: As this podcast is about connecting, empowering, knowledge sharing and
- 0:27Speaker 1: the storytelling of you to make a difference for today
- 0:31Speaker 1: and lasting impact for tomorrow.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Let's get into it. She's on the Money.
- 0:36Speaker 3: She's on the Money.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to She's on the Mune the podcast
- 1:00Speaker 2: Millennials who want financial freedom. Today, my friends, guess what,
- 1:05Speaker 2: It's Friday, which means it is time to get my
- 1:08Speaker 2: gorgeous team together and celebrate you the incredible She's on
- 1:12Speaker 2: the Money community. Today, mister Grig is going to share
- 1:15Speaker 2: our favorite money wins. Miss beck Sayed has some juicy
- 1:19Speaker 2: broke tips for you.
- 1:20Speaker 3: We're going to be.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Helping to answer a money dilemma, which this week is
- 1:24Speaker 2: all about income protection, and we're going to unpack something
- 1:27Speaker 2: that you slid into our DMS, about which this week
- 1:30Speaker 2: is all about gifting your friends some handy downs or
- 1:32Speaker 2: an outfit that you love and then they sell them.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So before we get there, as always, we need to
- 1:39Speaker 2: check in with my team, see how they're going. Let's
- 1:42Speaker 2: throw Beck straight under the bus because she.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Always goes no, Jesse, you go first, Beck.
- 1:46Speaker 2: How's your week been?
- 1:47Speaker 5: My week has been really nice. I'm having a little
- 1:49Speaker 5: slumber party tonight with some adult friends, which.
- 1:52Speaker 4: Is really cute. So exeah, it's really cute.
- 1:55Speaker 2: The way you phrased this, like, oh, I'm having some
- 1:58Speaker 2: friends sleepover would be fine, but I'm having an slumber party. Yeah, fun,
- 2:06Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh for it. But like you've you've
- 2:08Speaker 2: done that to yourself.
- 2:09Speaker 4: That's so true. Yeah, yeah, I've really made it sounds
- 2:12Speaker 4: a lot more.
- 2:13Speaker 3: You made it sounds a lot better than what it's
- 2:15Speaker 3: going to be.
- 2:15Speaker 5: Totally, but it will be really be lollies and stuff
- 2:18Speaker 5: like that is my dream come true. Anyway, we have
- 2:20Speaker 5: a slumber party and then I'm actually currently planning a
- 2:25Speaker 5: Valentine's Day date.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I'm sorry, what are you doing planning a date?
- 2:29Speaker 5: Planning dates with a real life human being, a real
- 2:32Speaker 5: life girl. I was using like AI girlfriend for a
- 2:36Speaker 5: little while, but you like the real thing.
- 2:39Speaker 3: That seems quite fair.
- 2:40Speaker 2: So now you've upgraded and you've got a look back.
- 2:42Speaker 4: I haven't looked back yet.
- 2:44Speaker 2: So is this like a hard launch or a soft launch?
- 2:47Speaker 3: Jess cut this is a soft launch.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Being elusive, We're being elusive.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I wonder who it is exactly.
- 2:54Speaker 4: This is just very very soft launch, A squishy launch,
- 2:56Speaker 4: squishy launch.
- 2:58Speaker 6: All the details.
- 2:59Speaker 3: I'm going to be hounding her for them on and off.
- 3:02Speaker 2: So don't you worry, miss Jessica Reachi. How has your
- 3:05Speaker 2: week been.
- 3:06Speaker 6: I've had a really good week. There's butterflies everywhere. Has
- 3:10Speaker 6: anyone noticed that? I don't know why, but it feels.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Very She's coming to town.
- 3:14Speaker 6: Well there's that we got a new tailors with album.
- 3:18Speaker 6: Really did I just know I'm gonna love this one?
- 3:20Speaker 6: Do you know what I mean? Like it's giving all
- 3:22Speaker 6: of the.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Painting our nails green, expecting her to announce reputation, her
- 3:27Speaker 2: being like, sit down, you guys are so.
- 3:30Speaker 6: Wrong, and it's you know it's going to be another
- 3:32Speaker 6: heartbreak one because it's Joe whatever his name is, like
- 3:35Speaker 6: his speculation, but we know it'll be his album, and
- 3:39Speaker 6: it just seems like the vibe is going to be immaculate.
- 3:41Speaker 2: So I'm so excited for that.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Like I just can't oh.
- 3:46Speaker 6: My queen and then just prep for the concert next week.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Costumes going good.
- 3:51Speaker 6: My rule is I have to, Like I've set myself
- 3:54Speaker 6: a goal. It needs to be finished by Sunday because
- 3:55Speaker 6: if I can't let something goes wrong, I need time
- 3:58Speaker 6: to buy something. So hopefully nobody's seen me have a
- 4:01Speaker 6: melt down here you can just.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Call me and let me know and I will help
- 4:05Speaker 2: you fix it.
- 4:05Speaker 6: I appreciate that. Hopefully I don't need it, but yeah,
- 4:08Speaker 6: if you do, though.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Like let me know.
- 4:11Speaker 3: I'm not letting you have a melt down.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I'm pregnant, really pregnant, having a lot of them, and
- 4:16Speaker 2: nobody deserves melkow.
- 4:18Speaker 6: Well, how has your week been? Speaking of being very pregnant.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I haven't cried that much, so I think that's actually
- 4:24Speaker 2: so impressive at this point. Yeah, I've had a good week.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I've done a lot. Actually I can't tell you who
- 4:30Speaker 2: it was with, but I actually interviewed someone with the
- 4:34Speaker 2: un Women Australia this week, so fancy I can't share
- 4:39Speaker 2: who it is. Yet, but I had to be up
- 4:41Speaker 2: at four thirty am to make their time zone so
- 4:44Speaker 2: that we could do a good interview, and like, honestly,
- 4:46Speaker 2: I don't regret any of it. I'm just a little
- 4:48Speaker 2: bit tired now, but I'm so excited to share that.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I think it will be so special. And it honestly
- 4:53Speaker 2: felt like an honor, Like you know those things where
- 4:55Speaker 2: you like, are you.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Sure you meant me?
- 4:57Speaker 2: Like, I know you meant that I could interview them.
- 5:00Speaker 2: It's not about me, But are you sure you want
- 5:02Speaker 2: to compromise yourselves? Mean that? Are you sure? But I
- 5:09Speaker 2: checked a number of times and they were like, yeah, yeah,
- 5:11Speaker 2: it's you, and I was like, I can't believe it.
- 5:14Speaker 2: So that's been my highlight of the week again, Squishy launch,
- 5:18Speaker 2: We're not like giving away too much.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, out that it's been good.
- 5:22Speaker 2: But yeah, TLDR, I hope this is one of my
- 5:25Speaker 2: last Friday Drinks episodes because I really want this baby
- 5:28Speaker 2: out of me already, Guys, I've done.
- 5:30Speaker 6: It's just got to wait one more week after Taylor Swift.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Okay, okay, after Taylor Swift, I can hold on. Let's
- 5:35Speaker 2: jump into some more stuff about the community, though, Jess,
- 5:38Speaker 2: I've been perving on the money wins a Confession's thread
- 5:40Speaker 2: this week, and I feel like there are some juicy ones.
- 5:43Speaker 2: So what are you bringing to the table.
- 5:45Speaker 6: Well, I thought we'd start with the money loss that
- 5:46Speaker 6: I think many of us may have experienced in the
- 5:49Speaker 6: last week. It's from Jess and she said money loss.
- 5:52Speaker 6: Didn't win the two hundred million?
- 5:54Speaker 2: Oh, I feel like my team like.
- 5:58Speaker 6: We all bought one. Let's everyone except you.
- 6:02Speaker 2: We went on retreat and all of them were talking
- 6:05Speaker 2: last week about buying lotto tickets and I'm just sitting
- 6:09Speaker 2: there being like, do you see what is going on here?
- 6:13Speaker 2: We fell for the marketing, but you are the problem. Ah, Well,
- 6:18Speaker 2: two people want a hundred million each? Wow?
- 6:21Speaker 6: Imagine would have settled for an easily hundred million.
- 6:24Speaker 4: I don't know, me too. I would love two meal
- 6:26Speaker 4: if I got a.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Whole episode and be like, this episode is specifically for
- 6:32Speaker 2: the two people who won one hundred million dollars and
- 6:34Speaker 2: it's what I think you should do with it?
- 6:36Speaker 6: That would be interesting.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Yeah, the relatives, but really.
- 6:39Speaker 6: Quickly, what's one? Like the first thing you would buy
- 6:41Speaker 6: if you want a hundred meal? You can't say investor,
- 6:44Speaker 6: You have to buy something like a thing, an object
- 6:47Speaker 6: to the material thing that you were just going to say.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Pay off my parents' mortgage, but I'm not allowed to
- 6:52Speaker 2: do that.
- 6:53Speaker 4: You have to be selfish.
- 6:54Speaker 2: I really would buy myself all away a puzzle bag,
- 6:57Speaker 2: cute in the sound color.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I've never heard that my life.
- 7:03Speaker 3: I'll show you a picture after I think I really
- 7:04Speaker 3: like it.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I just can't justify it at this point.
- 7:07Speaker 4: That's fair, you know what. I'd honestly just buy myself
- 7:09Speaker 4: some modest birken Stocks.
- 7:14Speaker 3: You buy you some modest brecon Stock.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Have you seen my new birken Stocks?
- 7:17Speaker 4: I haven't. Don't show me, Jeous you love them.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I got the Boston's, you got the Yeah.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 2: My best friend said that I am two steps away
- 7:25Speaker 2: from becoming a lesbian, and I'm okay with that.
- 7:28Speaker 4: That's what I would buy and top up my Mikey.
- 7:31Speaker 4: That's me.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I really don't.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I can't with you, Jessica, You're so practical.
- 7:36Speaker 6: I buy a house, but then if I have to,
- 7:39Speaker 6: if we're going as.
- 7:40Speaker 2: An investment, I'm sorry, no, not having that.
- 7:42Speaker 6: Then I would buy a Chanel Classic CLA that's mine.
- 7:44Speaker 6: That's like a ten handbag.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Does that make it ill? Yeah, its aesthetically pleasing though
- 7:51Speaker 4: you know it.
- 7:51Speaker 6: I'll show your phone. It's like the quilted black VD
- 7:54Speaker 6: has three probably.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, right.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Straight under the Yeah.
- 8:00Speaker 2: So as we're saying money, when's a confessions?
- 8:03Speaker 6: I got all right, I've got a money in from Yakira,
- 8:06Speaker 6: who said, my daughter started competitive chio, which is very expensive.
- 8:11Speaker 6: I think it's probably similar to dance. But I managed
- 8:13Speaker 6: to score an as new competition uniform for fifty dollars
- 8:17Speaker 6: instead of the two hundred and forty it would have
- 8:19Speaker 6: cost me new Oh my gosh, wow. Respect for all
- 8:22Speaker 6: the parents out there with kids in activities, because I
- 8:24Speaker 6: think about my parents looking back, and I'm like, oh,
- 8:26Speaker 6: kind of in cheap.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Also two hundred and forty dollars for children's outfit, I know,
- 8:31Speaker 2: like I'm not trying to disrespect it. A lot of
- 8:33Speaker 2: time energynffort has surely gone into that. But like kids
- 8:36Speaker 2: grow so quick, so that and it's for like one thing, right,
- 8:39Speaker 2: Like you can't just keep using them.
- 8:40Speaker 3: It's not like a uniform, is it true.
- 8:42Speaker 6: I think the uniforms maybe change gear sometimes, So that's crazy.
- 8:46Speaker 6: Well done, Yakira. Then Inez said I have a money win.
- 8:50Speaker 6: I switched to a Masium after being loyal to a
- 8:52Speaker 6: big telco for over a decade. I used to pay
- 8:55Speaker 6: sixty two dollars for fifty gigabytes but would only ever
- 8:57Speaker 6: use twenty gig max. I found a thirty two gig
- 9:00Speaker 6: plan for thirty dollars with the unusedtarter rolling over.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's unlimited and it doesn't stop rolling over.
- 9:06Speaker 6: Jess, that's so good. And my first month was half priced,
- 9:09Speaker 6: so I only paid fifteen dollars for a much better plan.
- 9:11Speaker 6: And bonus, it's an Esium, so where I could switch.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Immediately, Do you're not? My favorite part about that is
- 9:16Speaker 2: we've recently worked with a Masium and that's not even
- 9:18Speaker 2: a paid sponsorship. But that's a great plug.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Thank you for that.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Thank you, and Ess, I'm going to call a Masium
- 9:24Speaker 2: and be like, hey, so I don't know if you
- 9:25Speaker 2: know this, but you really should listen to our Friday episode.
- 9:28Speaker 2: We say some really nice things and by where I
- 9:30Speaker 2: mean my community, not me.
- 9:31Speaker 6: Yeah, please sponsor us next time. I got a money
- 9:34Speaker 6: win from Alika, who said I booked a car hire
- 9:37Speaker 6: for ound New Zealand trip two months ago. I went
- 9:39Speaker 6: to edit the booking, and I found that if I'd
- 9:41Speaker 6: booked the same car today, it would have been almost
- 9:44Speaker 6: three times more expensive. Money win book in advance.
- 9:48Speaker 4: Yeah, so smart, so smart, very good idea.
- 9:51Speaker 6: Then I've got one from Sarah who said I advertised
- 9:54Speaker 6: a small side table a marketplace for ten dollars. A
- 9:57Speaker 6: lady came to pick it up and only had twenty dollars,
- 9:59Speaker 6: and she happily just said keep the change.
- 10:01Speaker 2: WHOA what money?
- 10:03Speaker 6: I always have people coming to the door being like, sorry,
- 10:05Speaker 6: I've only got fifty, will we take that instead of seventy?
- 10:08Speaker 4: Yes?
- 10:09Speaker 2: I don't know where people get you men have done
- 10:11Speaker 2: to me, and I've just been like, of course, sorry,
- 10:14Speaker 2: I don't say it, but of course.
- 10:15Speaker 6: It's always men, always men, it's always men.
- 10:17Speaker 4: What did you say?
- 10:18Speaker 6: So I literally said sorry, like we agreed on seventy.
- 10:21Speaker 6: There's a seven eleven down the road if you want
- 10:22Speaker 6: to get a cash out?
- 10:23Speaker 2: Oh what get?
- 10:24Speaker 6: And this guy's the guy whos just me last time?
- 10:26Speaker 2: Sorry, no, no, no, this is the key. We hit the
- 10:28Speaker 2: money out.
- 10:29Speaker 6: Of his wallet and was like, I only have fifty
- 10:31Speaker 6: will you take that instead of seventy? Or whatever it was?
- 10:33Speaker 6: And then I said to seven elevens down the road
- 10:36Speaker 6: and he said okay, and so then he got something.
- 10:38Speaker 6: He had the money in his pocket. I was just like,
- 10:42Speaker 6: you don't. And we've obviously negotiated back and forth, like
- 10:49Speaker 6: he was such a pain to talk to. I remember,
- 10:51Speaker 6: like Negotia, Negotia, negotiate, agreed on a prodict double and
- 10:54Speaker 6: he's still trying to hustle.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Hope he's listening to this hat' not because he's not
- 10:58Speaker 2: money savage kind so true.
- 11:01Speaker 6: Yeah, anyway, so I feel like else, if you got
- 11:04Speaker 6: Sarah did really well, he's canceled.
- 11:06Speaker 1: He is.
- 11:07Speaker 6: Then I've got a win from z who said I
- 11:10Speaker 6: collect Google play Point perks every week for free. That's
- 11:13Speaker 6: quite a tong twister. Say that Baptiz's fast and I
- 11:16Speaker 6: now have a five dollar voucher to buy She's in
- 11:18Speaker 6: the Money audiobook. Oh don't know what a Google play
- 11:22Speaker 6: Point perk is, and maybe look into it though, because
- 11:24Speaker 6: it sounds like you get free vouchers, which we love.
- 11:26Speaker 3: I love that.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I also love I don't know if everybody knows this,
- 11:30Speaker 2: but you can get all of my audio books for
- 11:32Speaker 2: free if you are already a Spotify subscriber.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Good to all of My books are on.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Spotify, and if you like are a paid member of Spotify,
- 11:41Speaker 2: you can go listen to them for free, which is
- 11:43Speaker 2: a very good money win.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's great.
- 11:46Speaker 6: Then lastly, I've got a goodie from Holly who said
- 11:48Speaker 6: I went to get a roast chook from coals. They
- 11:50Speaker 6: were none left, but did she get a little voucher
- 11:53Speaker 6: has a rule but if you go to get a
- 11:55Speaker 6: chicken and they have none left, you get a voucher
- 11:57Speaker 6: for a free one boom.
- 11:58Speaker 2: A free chook.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Money win.
- 12:00Speaker 4: That's pretty cool.
- 12:03Speaker 2: I'm the chicken.
- 12:04Speaker 6: That's such a good one, and that is so I
- 12:05Speaker 6: love that we're calling it a chuck. Still, that's so
- 12:09Speaker 6: I love it. My money is I nearly got scams
- 12:12Speaker 6: this morning and I didn't.
- 12:13Speaker 2: How did you nearly get scammed?
- 12:14Speaker 4: Still?
- 12:15Speaker 6: Do we want to go on with?
- 12:16Speaker 2: No? No? No, This is the tangent we're here for.
- 12:17Speaker 2: It's Friday, and it's our episode.
- 12:19Speaker 3: We do what we want on this one.
- 12:21Speaker 6: So I got a text in an email from Recovery's Core,
- 12:24Speaker 6: which is a debt collection agency, like they're a real agency.
- 12:27Speaker 6: I've heard of them before, yes, and they were saying
- 12:29Speaker 6: we're getting in touch with you because you had an
- 12:31Speaker 6: outstanding Linked toll which, for those who are not in Victoria,
- 12:34Speaker 6: Linked is our toll system, like for most of the
- 12:38Speaker 6: roads in Australia all come under Link to the toll roads.
- 12:41Speaker 6: You had an outstanding debt, it's been passed along to
- 12:43Speaker 6: us because it hasn't been paid. You know, go through
- 12:45Speaker 6: looked very legit and you know what, there have been
- 12:47Speaker 6: times where I've used tolls and like, my thing hasn't
- 12:50Speaker 6: been popped up.
- 12:50Speaker 3: In you so you just believe it.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Yes, I've literally gotten the same thing.
- 12:54Speaker 6: Yeah, So I and I transferred the money out of
- 12:57Speaker 6: one of my savers to make the payment, and then
- 12:59Speaker 6: I just went I don't remember Like normally i'd get
- 13:02Speaker 6: a text from Linked first being like your balance is
- 13:04Speaker 6: under like pay your balance whatever, before it would go
- 13:07Speaker 6: to collections. I was like, I don't remember getting that,
- 13:09Speaker 6: so like.
- 13:10Speaker 2: It's not like you to go to collections. You're psychotic
- 13:13Speaker 2: with your budgeting.
- 13:15Speaker 6: Sly good. So I went to the website and I
- 13:18Speaker 6: like my account was still turned on. I was like,
- 13:19Speaker 6: that's really strange, and so then I went to the
- 13:21Speaker 6: Recovery's Court website and luckily this must be a really
- 13:24Speaker 6: common scam because on their homepage of their website they
- 13:28Speaker 6: have we're aware of a scam going around regarding linked invoices.
- 13:33Speaker 6: If you have received something, please make sure that it's
- 13:36Speaker 6: legitimate before you do it. So then I got on
- 13:37Speaker 6: the linked they had like a chat online and I
- 13:39Speaker 6: just said, hey, like, I've got this, can you check?
- 13:41Speaker 6: And it took like ten minutes, but they're like, no, no,
- 13:43Speaker 6: like you've got nothing outstanding. I nearly paid a scammer.
- 13:48Speaker 6: Nearly paid because it was like it was, you know
- 13:50Speaker 6: how normally the email well, and I checked the email.
- 13:53Speaker 6: It was a proper like looking email. It wasn't like
- 13:56Speaker 6: sexy boy one two three gmail dot com. I'm sorry,
- 14:04Speaker 6: you looked very real if you read no, I've got
- 14:08Speaker 6: I've gotten a couple of them.
- 14:10Speaker 2: And usually the Telltales sign and Jess you probably saw
- 14:13Speaker 2: this is usually the URL is foreign, so the URL
- 14:17Speaker 2: does not send you to the Recovery's Corp website directly.
- 14:22Speaker 2: And I think that if in doubt, go direct, And
- 14:25Speaker 2: I think that that's the best tip here. Like a
- 14:28Speaker 2: bank texts you, they're never actually ever gonna ask for
- 14:31Speaker 2: personal informational details. So like if there is a debt
- 14:35Speaker 2: with linked goes straight to linked to be like, hey,
- 14:38Speaker 2: what's this debt about, and they can clear it up.
- 14:41Speaker 5: You.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I would triple check everything at the moment because I'm
- 14:43Speaker 2: getting so many text messages and I don't know where
- 14:46Speaker 2: they're getting my number of like you owe this or
- 14:49Speaker 2: my favorite scam? At the moment, I say favorite just
- 14:52Speaker 2: because it's in my inbox all the time.
- 14:53Speaker 3: They're like, we.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Tried to deliver a parcel and your address was incorrect.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Click here and it always comes through it for where
- 15:00Speaker 2: I am.
- 15:00Speaker 3: And then you look at the url and I go.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Pretty sure oz Post's website is an oz posty dot com.
- 15:07Speaker 3: It's not you know.
- 15:08Speaker 6: Yeah, there's a lot my bank text mean, so there's
- 15:11Speaker 6: lots of scams. Be careful. So it must be that
- 15:13Speaker 6: time of year to be did you reminder?
- 15:15Speaker 2: Reminder? Let's move on though, Miss beck'say ed, yes, Now,
- 15:20Speaker 2: broke tips are you bringing to this table?
- 15:22Speaker 4: Very good question? Be so, actually I want to start
- 15:25Speaker 4: off this is not a broad tip, but I'm a.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Lot of money in I guess. So let's pretend your
- 15:30Speaker 2: segment hasn't started and you're just slotting into Jess's. Yeah, okay,
- 15:34Speaker 2: is that okay, well, will you let beck share a
- 15:36Speaker 2: money win? I would love that.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Can I beig back?
- 15:39Speaker 2: Please?
- 15:39Speaker 4: Thank you so much, just you're so kind.
- 15:42Speaker 5: So a few different group chats separately have gone off
- 15:46Speaker 5: with screenshots of I can't really recall what company this is.
- 15:51Speaker 5: I'm really sorry, it's probably very unhelpful. But there's so
- 15:54Speaker 5: many really really cheap return flights to Japan.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I believe they're flying around everywhere.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Yeah, like, why is it so cheap?
- 16:01Speaker 2: I don't know, but let's go to Japan.
- 16:03Speaker 6: I'm thinking about it.
- 16:05Speaker 2: I think it's through not to she's on tour, yeah yeah, yeah,
- 16:10Speaker 2: oh my.
- 16:10Speaker 6: If anyone out they would like to send us to Japan.
- 16:12Speaker 2: If anyone even just wants it's like, you know, and
- 16:15Speaker 2: sometimes Jess I text scroup chat and I say one
- 16:17Speaker 2: like and I'll have a croissant for lunch, and then
- 16:19Speaker 2: I like it myself. It's like that anyone d and says, oh,
- 16:23Speaker 2: we want to see she's on the money in Japan,
- 16:25Speaker 2: Well we'll just have to do it.
- 16:28Speaker 5: I feel like it's like one like one prayer, but
- 16:29Speaker 5: in this instance, it's one comment or one DM saying
- 16:33Speaker 5: we should go to Japan.
- 16:35Speaker 4: Go to Japan, but.
- 16:35Speaker 2: They're so cheap, and I've also seen really cheap return
- 16:38Speaker 2: flights to Bali.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Like too hot, too hot, I'm so sorry, give me
- 16:45Speaker 4: some broke tips then, yes, okay, here we go.
- 16:47Speaker 5: Okay, So, as usual, we have two from the community,
- 16:49Speaker 5: one from myself. The first one comes from Kara, my
- 16:52Speaker 5: friend Kara from Sydney. She said that octical scroup surveys
- 16:55Speaker 5: are a good way to make extra cash. So I
- 16:57Speaker 5: know that we have mentioned surveys before, but this is
- 16:59Speaker 5: the I had heard of octopus group surveys.
- 17:02Speaker 2: They're pretty popular in the She's on the money community,
- 17:04Speaker 2: so I think they're legit too. Okay, there you go,
- 17:06Speaker 2: are you in?
- 17:07Speaker 4: I literally might jump on there myself after this. Okay.
- 17:10Speaker 5: So the next one comes from Shell, who says the
- 17:14Speaker 5: heart of Carlton so food and drinks for five dollars
- 17:17Speaker 5: and under. This place is actually quite close to my.
- 17:19Speaker 2: House, so I might check this out money good research
- 17:23Speaker 2: the podcast, Yes.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Exactly to treat yourself exactly.
- 17:29Speaker 5: So my own one. This one might seem a little
- 17:33Speaker 5: bit common sensical, but I would say, if possible, use
- 17:38Speaker 5: a good petrol forecasting site. The one that I came
- 17:42Speaker 5: across was connecting the dots dot com today U Forecasting. Yeah,
- 17:46Speaker 5: but you can kind of like have a Google and
- 17:48Speaker 5: see what's out there, as well as obviously petrol spy,
- 17:51Speaker 5: which we do talk about, and when petrol is low,
- 17:55Speaker 5: if possible, try and just stock up on jerry Can's obviously.
- 17:59Speaker 4: Oh no, I've got safety.
- 18:01Speaker 2: You use those apps. Do exactly what Becky is saying,
- 18:04Speaker 2: find the cheapest petrol, then go to your seven eleven
- 18:07Speaker 2: app and lock it in so you don't need a
- 18:09Speaker 2: jerry Can. You've got the price locked in for the
- 18:11Speaker 2: next filler.
- 18:12Speaker 5: Yes, that's true. I think that only lasts like a
- 18:13Speaker 5: week though. That's okay, but it is. That's all right,
- 18:16Speaker 5: that's a good deal. Yeah, it really is good. If
- 18:18Speaker 5: you're going to be using that much petrol in the week,
- 18:20Speaker 5: it's really good. And even if you're not, like, it's
- 18:21Speaker 5: still good to just like keeping a little top up,
- 18:24Speaker 5: just do a top up. But I would say, like, yes,
- 18:26Speaker 5: store safely, make sure you store safety.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Do you actually feel jerry cans full of petrol? Backside?
- 18:31Speaker 5: I do, but only because you know, my best friend
- 18:33Speaker 5: live has a caravan and that makes sense. I think
- 18:36Speaker 5: the biggest one where you have is like I don't know,
- 18:38Speaker 5: fifteen leadles or something.
- 18:39Speaker 2: But that's good.
- 18:39Speaker 4: That's like half a tank.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good deal.
- 18:42Speaker 4: So do that because sometimes it's been too Sometimes it's
- 18:44Speaker 4: a dollar sixty.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I don't know if I could trust myself to fill
- 18:47Speaker 2: a jerry can without tipping it over, if.
- 18:48Speaker 6: I carried one down the highway before.
- 18:50Speaker 3: It's not that it's.
- 18:53Speaker 6: Broke down and we had to walk the petrol station
- 18:55Speaker 6: there to walk back.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Hot girl shit only.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Yeah, that's pretty hot.
- 18:58Speaker 2: That's pretty good. She's a self sufficient queen. Yeah, all right,
- 19:02Speaker 2: let's go to a really quick break on the flip side.
- 19:04Speaker 2: We're going to be talking about one of my favorite topics,
- 19:06Speaker 2: income protection, and we're also going to be unpacking something
- 19:10Speaker 2: you slid into our DMS about this week.
- 19:12Speaker 3: We're talking about giving a friend your hand.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Me downs and then they sell them on you guys,
- 19:17Speaker 2: don't go anywhere.
- 19:22Speaker 6: Welcome back, everybody. Let's take a listen to this week's
- 19:25Speaker 6: money dilemma.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Hi, there, have you got a money dilemma you just
- 19:30Speaker 2: can't solve? The She's on the Money team is here
- 19:33Speaker 2: to help. Every week, we tackle your dilemmas, both big
- 19:36Speaker 2: and small, to answer your most burning money, career and
- 19:39Speaker 2: life questions. To get involved, simply head to our website
- 19:42Speaker 2: and leave us a short voice recording and you might
- 19:44Speaker 2: just find yourself on the show. Now, let's take a
- 19:47Speaker 2: listen to this week's money dilemma.
- 19:52Speaker 7: Hi, she's on the money.
- 19:53Speaker 8: I have a question about income protection. I've been seeing
- 19:56Speaker 8: so much on your socials about the topic, and I
- 19:59Speaker 8: was wondering if you could shed some light on what
- 20:01Speaker 8: that would look like for people who already have some
- 20:04Speaker 8: medical issues.
- 20:05Speaker 7: I myself had a heart attack last year, and I
- 20:09Speaker 7: just feel a little bit scared and embarrassed to apply
- 20:12Speaker 7: for income protection because I'm worried they will just say
- 20:16Speaker 7: no and I'll feel a bit lost.
- 20:18Speaker 8: If you could help, that would be great.
- 20:20Speaker 6: Thank you, don't feel embarrassed.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Don't feel embarrassed.
- 20:23Speaker 6: Good thing you're thinking about. It absolutely an anecdote before
- 20:26Speaker 6: VD takes it away, because I think this is your
- 20:27Speaker 6: time to shut up.
- 20:28Speaker 2: It's not I'm not needed around here. That's why you
- 20:31Speaker 2: guys are like, why don't you just go have a
- 20:32Speaker 2: baby soon. We don't even want you on the show anymore.
- 20:34Speaker 4: Yeah, step out of the room.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Actually, I've got the wheel from here, but one of
- 20:39Speaker 2: our beautiful community members message just actually this week about
- 20:43Speaker 2: income protection and how we've been talking about it, and
- 20:45Speaker 2: they just said how grateful they were because they had
- 20:47Speaker 2: gotten income protection since listening to the show did they
- 20:50Speaker 2: actually a little while ago, And unfortunately they were recently
- 20:53Speaker 2: diagnosed with cancer and they they are now obviously going
- 20:58Speaker 2: through treatment and we're sending them so much love and
- 21:00Speaker 2: so many good vibes. But she said that she was
- 21:03Speaker 2: so grateful because she can just focus on her recovery
- 21:05Speaker 2: and doing what she needs to do because she has
- 21:08Speaker 2: her income protection and she's fully sortied. Yeah, Like it
- 21:11Speaker 2: breaks my heart because these conditions are serious and awful
- 21:15Speaker 2: and no one should have to experience them, but if
- 21:17Speaker 2: you are going to experience them, at least you don't
- 21:21Speaker 2: have to worry about money.
- 21:22Speaker 6: Like she was so positive. She was like, it's she
- 21:25Speaker 6: seems like really confident and really positive about her situation.
- 21:29Speaker 6: And yeah, the fact that she had listened in thought
- 21:32Speaker 6: and put that in place to be able to put
- 21:34Speaker 6: herself and I was just it made us so happy
- 21:37Speaker 6: to hear. Yeah, and we're sending everyone listening to the
- 21:40Speaker 6: pot right now send her a good thought. Yeah, please
- 21:42Speaker 6: take a mama.
- 21:42Speaker 4: I love it totally.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I love it, and it sounds like you've had a
- 21:45Speaker 2: rough time. You sound so young and you've had a
- 21:47Speaker 2: heart attack, Like holy guacamole. One queen behavior getting through that.
- 21:51Speaker 2: But two, don't be afraid of reaching out for advice
- 21:54Speaker 2: on income protection or any type of insurance when it
- 21:58Speaker 2: comes to like personal insurances.
- 21:59Speaker 6: Right.
- 22:00Speaker 2: This is why last week I had feel from Skywealth
- 22:03Speaker 2: on the show, because I want to show you that
- 22:05Speaker 2: it is not as overwhelming as often can seem. Like Jess,
- 22:09Speaker 2: you've been through the whole income protection, whole financial advice
- 22:12Speaker 2: kit and kaboodle with Phil, and I can almost put
- 22:16Speaker 2: words in your mouth and say it wasn't nearly as
- 22:17Speaker 2: overwhelming as you thought.
- 22:18Speaker 3: It would be.
- 22:19Speaker 2: So the thing with your pre existing condition, which is
- 22:23Speaker 2: what it's going to be seen as, is yes, you
- 22:25Speaker 2: are correct. That is a conversation that is going to
- 22:27Speaker 2: have to come up. This is why I would never
- 22:30Speaker 2: ask you or recommend that you go and get a
- 22:32Speaker 2: retail policy on your own. I need you to go
- 22:35Speaker 2: and talk to a good financial advisor about this because
- 22:39Speaker 2: that is a pre existing condition that you are correct
- 22:42Speaker 2: will hinder your application, but it does not mean it
- 22:46Speaker 2: will be declined. It means that there is very likely
- 22:49Speaker 2: going to be an exclusion on your policy. So this
- 22:53Speaker 2: is going to sound really awful, But you might have
- 22:56Speaker 2: something else happen to you.
- 22:57Speaker 3: You might end up ultimately and.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Let's say it was yesterday, because we would never ill
- 23:01Speaker 2: wish something into the future, but yesterday you were diagnosed
- 23:04Speaker 2: with cancer, even though you have had a pre existing
- 23:08Speaker 2: condition of a heart attack. If we know that they
- 23:10Speaker 2: aren't linked, you will usually still be covered under income protection,
- 23:15Speaker 2: same with mental health, same with everything else. You might
- 23:18Speaker 2: get an exclusion and they'll say, look, let's use Jess
- 23:21Speaker 2: as an example, because I'm happy to divulge her personal
- 23:25Speaker 2: you know, information on me here, right, So, Jess, I
- 23:28Speaker 2: know that one of your knees is excluded because you
- 23:30Speaker 2: had a pre existing condition in it. That is just
- 23:33Speaker 2: your Is it your left knee, it's your right knee. Left,
- 23:35Speaker 2: it's your left knee. So Jess, if something happens to
- 23:38Speaker 2: her left knee, your insurer is going to say, look, Jess, Rudy,
- 23:42Speaker 2: it was a bit bung already.
- 23:44Speaker 3: We're not going to cover that.
- 23:45Speaker 2: But if something happened to your right knee, they're going
- 23:47Speaker 2: to cover that, right and the same with your heart attack.
- 23:50Speaker 2: They're going to say, look, I'm so sorry that that happened.
- 23:53Speaker 2: We will offer you a completely comprehensive policy, but not
- 23:58Speaker 2: include heart attack. So anything could happen and you will
- 24:00Speaker 2: look after you. But because you have already had one
- 24:03Speaker 2: heart attack, and at the end of the day, we
- 24:05Speaker 2: do a lot of underwriting and we look at the risk.
- 24:08Speaker 2: There's a probability that you'll have another heart attack, and
- 24:11Speaker 2: we don't really want to take that risk on. So
- 24:13Speaker 2: we'll help you in every other which way. But if
- 24:16Speaker 2: you have another heart attack, you can't claim on this policy,
- 24:18Speaker 2: and you might go Great. That works for me because
- 24:21Speaker 2: I actually want to make sure that I'm covered holistically
- 24:23Speaker 2: in the rest of my life. The heart attack thing,
- 24:26Speaker 2: it really bloody sucks that it's excluded. And that's why
- 24:29Speaker 2: I always implore people to get income protection and their
- 24:34Speaker 2: life insurance and everything set up before something happens, because
- 24:38Speaker 2: no one wants a major life event. No one expects
- 24:41Speaker 2: that to happen to them, like no one wants to
- 24:43Speaker 2: have a bung knee from playing sport. But the younger
- 24:46Speaker 2: you get it, the more likely you are to get
- 24:47Speaker 2: a policy that has absolutely no exclusions. But now you're
- 24:50Speaker 2: in this position, I would absolutely be sitting down with
- 24:53Speaker 2: someone like Phil and saying, hey, have had a heart attack.
- 24:55Speaker 3: How do I protect myself from everything else?
- 24:58Speaker 2: Yeah, and that is definitely f No one's going to
- 25:01Speaker 2: decline it based on that, and a good financial advisor
- 25:04Speaker 2: is going to go right. You're kind of a special
- 25:06Speaker 2: case because you do have a really big pre existing condition.
- 25:09Speaker 3: They're going to shop it around.
- 25:10Speaker 2: They're not going to submit an application that ultimately gets declined.
- 25:14Speaker 2: I do not know a financial advisor who would knowingly
- 25:17Speaker 2: submit an application that could get declined. And I've even
- 25:21Speaker 2: been in the position as the financial advisor when I
- 25:24Speaker 2: was one where I had submitted an application for a client.
- 25:27Speaker 2: They had told me that they had told me everything.
- 25:29Speaker 2: And I get a call from the underwriter and they're like, hey,
- 25:32Speaker 2: so we requested their medical history and this pre existing
- 25:35Speaker 2: condition came up. Were you privy to that because it
- 25:37Speaker 2: wasn't in their application form? And I go, no, please
- 25:40Speaker 2: let me get back to you. And so then I
- 25:41Speaker 2: call the client and say, hey, client, you know, Jess,
- 25:44Speaker 2: you didn't tell me about your knee and that's actually
- 25:47Speaker 2: just come up in underwriting. The underwriter has called me
- 25:49Speaker 2: and said, hey, this has come up, but you didn't
- 25:51Speaker 2: disclose it, like what's going on? And then I can
- 25:53Speaker 2: have a conversation with you about what we do moving forward.
- 25:56Speaker 2: And then usually in that situation, I'll call the underwriter
- 25:58Speaker 2: back at the insurance company like, hey, I've had a
- 26:00Speaker 2: chat with the client, like it's not ongoing, what's your
- 26:04Speaker 2: probability of declining this application because of my client's knee,
- 26:07Speaker 2: And they'll go, oh, look, it's just a knee. We'll
- 26:09Speaker 2: probably you know, probably won't do anything. We'll just exclude
- 26:12Speaker 2: it and so we're not going to cover it and
- 26:13Speaker 2: go Okay, no worries. That's the outcome I was expecting.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Or they might go, well, actually that's a really big thing,
- 26:19Speaker 2: you know, at the moment, we're really cracking down on
- 26:21Speaker 2: this that the other. And then as the financial advisor,
- 26:24Speaker 2: I have said, okay, well, at this point, I would
- 26:26Speaker 2: like to withdraw my application and I'm going to go
- 26:28Speaker 2: back and speak to my client potentially change insurers because
- 26:32Speaker 2: I do not want my client to get a decline.
- 26:35Speaker 2: I do not want that on their record. And Jess,
- 26:37Speaker 2: as you would know, you filled out forms. One of
- 26:39Speaker 2: the questions they ask is have you ever been declined
- 26:42Speaker 2: insurance from another insurer before? And you have to disclose
- 26:45Speaker 2: that and if I withdraw your application because I'm on
- 26:48Speaker 2: top of it, you say, well, no, no, I haven't
- 26:51Speaker 2: been decliented.
- 26:52Speaker 6: Yeah. Never.
- 26:53Speaker 2: So I think it's really important to work with a
- 26:54Speaker 2: good financial advisor that has your back but also has
- 26:58Speaker 2: a really good relationship with those insurers. Because Jess I
- 27:01Speaker 2: might go all right, well, sorry, I know I recommended Zurich,
- 27:04Speaker 2: but that was because you didn't tell me you had
- 27:06Speaker 2: this condition. Let me go redo my applications and this
- 27:09Speaker 2: time we're going to apply with MLC, or we might
- 27:11Speaker 2: apply with AIA or a different insurer because I know
- 27:15Speaker 2: that their policy is a little bit different or a
- 27:17Speaker 2: little bit more flexible, or you know, we can ask
- 27:19Speaker 2: for an exclusion on that before they enforce it. So
- 27:21Speaker 2: I think that's a very long way of saying, please
- 27:24Speaker 2: just talk to a financial advisor. It's not silly, it's
- 27:26Speaker 2: not dumb. In fact, it's putting future you in the
- 27:29Speaker 2: best possible position. Yeah, yep, amen, true, that's what I meant.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Should we dive in, I'm ready, are you ready, absolutely ready?
- 27:40Speaker 2: Drop yourselves in. We have the DM of the week.
- 27:43Speaker 2: All right, here's the DM we received. Hello, she's on
- 27:46Speaker 2: the money. So I'm moving overseas and was doing a
- 27:49Speaker 2: big wardrobe chuck out as I can't take everything with me.
- 27:53Speaker 2: One of my best friends was over at the time
- 27:55Speaker 2: and she loved so many of the items I was
- 27:57Speaker 2: getting rid of. I was planning on dropping them all
- 27:59Speaker 2: off at my local Salvos as I am moving in
- 28:01Speaker 2: a couple of weeks and don't have time to bother
- 28:04Speaker 2: selling any of it. So when she said she loved
- 28:06Speaker 2: the items, I told her to just have them, as
- 28:09Speaker 2: I was going to give them away anyways. They were
- 28:11Speaker 2: pretty good quality things. Address and a skirt from Age,
- 28:15Speaker 2: a bunch of country road items, shoes from Tony Bianco.
- 28:18Speaker 2: You get the point. It was pretty nice stuff. Turns
- 28:21Speaker 2: out she didn't actually quote love it all that much,
- 28:23Speaker 2: as she went and sold all of it on Facebook
- 28:26Speaker 2: and made herself some cash.
- 28:28Speaker 3: I'm so mad.
- 28:29Speaker 2: I kindly gave her these items that could have gone
- 28:31Speaker 2: to a much better cause at the Salvos and she's
- 28:34Speaker 2: just made money off my old stuff. I feel like
- 28:37Speaker 2: I should be getting fifty percent of her profit. Question
- 28:40Speaker 2: mark exclamation mark, question mark do you think she's in
- 28:43Speaker 2: the wrong, and how do I actually bring this up
- 28:45Speaker 2: with her?
- 28:48Speaker 4: This is a bit gussy.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Look at your little pie.
- 28:51Speaker 2: You're spicy, spicy.
- 28:53Speaker 4: I love this.
- 28:54Speaker 5: I would say, I don't think she has any Maybe
- 28:57Speaker 5: she can't get any of the money. I would say,
- 28:59Speaker 5: I would just be like that does feel a bit sneaky, though,
- 29:02Speaker 5: doesn't it to Like it feels a bit manipulative to
- 29:04Speaker 5: be like, oh my god, those clothes are so nice.
- 29:06Speaker 5: But if you kind of came in and said up front,
- 29:10Speaker 5: or if your friend had set up front, like, hey,
- 29:12Speaker 5: I'll take these off your hands, I'll sell them because
- 29:14Speaker 5: they actually are really really good, Like if you can't be.
- 29:16Speaker 2: By, can I, But then you would have at least
- 29:19Speaker 2: had the ability to go no, no, no, Like you know,
- 29:21Speaker 2: I can't be bothered selling them. Actually kind of want
- 29:23Speaker 2: them to go to the Salvos. That's going to a
- 29:25Speaker 2: good cause. Like that's a different I don't know, I
- 29:27Speaker 2: feel like that's a different story that you had choice in. Yeah,
- 29:31Speaker 2: but ultimately you gave them to her because she loved them,
- 29:33Speaker 2: so she can kind of now do what she wants
- 29:35Speaker 2: with them, I suppose.
- 29:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:36Speaker 6: I see That's where I'm torn because like part of
- 29:38Speaker 6: me feels like this is how I feel about regifting,
- 29:41Speaker 6: in the sense that once you give something to someone,
- 29:42Speaker 6: they can do whatever they want with it. Yes, ye jui.
- 29:45Speaker 6: And so I'm kind of torn because pardon me, says
- 29:47Speaker 6: you know what, like, particularly because you were going to
- 29:49Speaker 6: give it away anyway. I think if you were selling
- 29:51Speaker 6: it and your friend said, oh, I really like that,
- 29:53Speaker 6: I'd love to buy it off you, and you said,
- 29:54Speaker 6: oh nah, they just have it, like you're mean happy
- 29:57Speaker 6: for you to take it, I think I would feel
- 29:59Speaker 6: differently about that. But because you were giving it away anyway,
- 30:04Speaker 6: your outcome really hasn't been that different. But I also
- 30:08Speaker 6: can completely understand how you feel, like, you know, maybe
- 30:12Speaker 6: you wish she had just set it up front, like
- 30:13Speaker 6: if that was the plan, tell me that that's the plan. Yeah,
- 30:16Speaker 6: I'm so torn because, yeah, I think that when someone
- 30:19Speaker 6: has something, that's out of your hands as to what
- 30:20Speaker 6: they do with it. But at the same time, it
- 30:23Speaker 6: is a little sneaky. And if it had been one
- 30:25Speaker 6: thing I guess too, like maybe she'd try it on
- 30:27Speaker 6: a dress and it didn't fit her and she was like, oh, well,
- 30:30Speaker 6: maybe I'll sell it on. I mean, she could have
- 30:33Speaker 6: given it away, but I don't know. I'm really into
- 30:36Speaker 6: minds on this one.
- 30:37Speaker 2: I don't know, Jesse. If I gifted your address and said, hey,
- 30:41Speaker 2: don't need this anymore or whatever it is, and then
- 30:44Speaker 2: you took it home and tried it on and it
- 30:46Speaker 2: didn't fit, I feel like you would call yeah, like,
- 30:48Speaker 2: oh it didn't fit. Do you want me to return it?
- 30:50Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 30:52Speaker 2: Whatever? Yeah, I just I feel like it's the lack
- 30:55Speaker 2: of communication that feels relatively inauthentic, like you too, but.
- 31:01Speaker 6: I really love it. And then that I guess, yeah,
- 31:03Speaker 6: that is a bit.
- 31:04Speaker 2: That's the extra thing you didn't just I don't know
- 31:06Speaker 2: because I've done this before where I've been like, oh, Jess,
- 31:09Speaker 2: you take it. I'm never gonna wear this, like I
- 31:11Speaker 2: don't even care, Like I just want to get rid
- 31:13Speaker 2: of it, can't be bothered. Yeah, if I then saw
- 31:15Speaker 2: that online, I wouldn't care so much. But because you know,
- 31:18Speaker 2: if you'd been lubing me up for say.
- 31:21Speaker 6: No, but.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Would I love it? But if you had Bee and
- 31:27Speaker 2: you said, oh I really love that Bee, and I go, oh, well, Jess,
- 31:30Speaker 2: you can have it, I'm sorry, what do you mean
- 31:33Speaker 2: you love it so that it can line your pockets.
- 31:36Speaker 6: Well, especially the expensive stuff. I guess because you use
- 31:38Speaker 6: that example, like you have given me a few of
- 31:40Speaker 6: your like nicer dresses.
- 31:41Speaker 3: And I congess is like, and then I went and
- 31:43Speaker 3: sold them.
- 31:45Speaker 6: And I love them and I wear them and like
- 31:47Speaker 6: they're Yeah, I guess, like the price point maybe could be.
- 31:50Speaker 6: It's not as if it was a twenty dollars cotton
- 31:52Speaker 6: on dressed.
- 31:52Speaker 2: To you know, if I give you something, you sell it.
- 31:54Speaker 2: I don't care, just personally like you go you do you?
- 31:57Speaker 3: Yeah, good father?
- 31:58Speaker 6: That way, I'll take all my listings off deep No,
- 32:02Speaker 6: but yeah, like I can see that. And I guess
- 32:04Speaker 6: it depends on time to like if someone given it
- 32:06Speaker 6: to her and she'd warn it and it had been
- 32:08Speaker 6: a while, maybe, I don't know.
- 32:10Speaker 3: It's a lot of.
- 32:10Speaker 6: Pray for me.
- 32:11Speaker 2: But to steal it down, yes, to steal it down
- 32:14Speaker 2: and make a few assumptions so that we can have
- 32:16Speaker 2: a more clear opinion. This happened within a week, I reckon.
- 32:21Speaker 2: So let's pretend you were cleaning out your clothes and
- 32:23Speaker 2: the week after you saw them online, you saw them
- 32:25Speaker 2: on Facebook and deep hoop.
- 32:27Speaker 6: I probably would be a bit missed. I'm not gonna
- 32:29Speaker 6: lie as much as you wait for me to leave
- 32:31Speaker 6: the country, like as much as I yeah, Like logically,
- 32:35Speaker 6: there's all of those other things. I think I probably would.
- 32:37Speaker 2: If it was months, I'd be like, well, they were
- 32:39Speaker 2: their items that they wore, but let's pretend it was
- 32:42Speaker 2: a week. I feel like that's a bit calculated and
- 32:44Speaker 2: your friend didn't do it. But the question was how
- 32:46Speaker 2: do I bring it up? Do I bring it up?
- 32:48Speaker 4: I don't think you can. This is the thing I
- 32:52Speaker 4: would bring it up.
- 32:52Speaker 5: I would bring it up because it feels like, especially
- 32:54Speaker 5: if you intent on being a friend with this person
- 32:56Speaker 5: for life, because it's technically on payge, but nothing they're
- 33:01Speaker 5: doing is illegal. They're allowed to do all of these things.
- 33:06Speaker 5: But it's so for me the pit of my belly,
- 33:10Speaker 5: it's saying that it's manipulative, it's yucky. It feels like
- 33:13Speaker 5: they lied about something. It feels like they literally performed
- 33:16Speaker 5: in front of you, so you would give them your
- 33:18Speaker 5: clothes and just because they had the intention, let's say this,
- 33:22Speaker 5: how would you do it?
- 33:23Speaker 3: How would you do it?
- 33:24Speaker 5: I think I would just I would mess them or
- 33:26Speaker 5: if I'm going to see them in person, be better,
- 33:27Speaker 5: just like kind of like do it gently, but hey,
- 33:30Speaker 5: I noticed that you're selling literally all the clothes that
- 33:32Speaker 5: you said you wanted to wear, which is totally fine.
- 33:35Speaker 5: I just want to know, if my own peace of mind,
- 33:37Speaker 5: was this your intention all along or did you have
- 33:39Speaker 5: a change of heart last minute, Because if it's change
- 33:41Speaker 5: of heart last minute, I'm comfortable with this dynamic.
- 33:45Speaker 4: But if it was on your.
- 33:47Speaker 5: Mind the whole time, I feel very uncomfortable knowing that
- 33:50Speaker 5: we were sat in that room together, you were kind
- 33:52Speaker 5: of like doing this whole song and dance theatrical thing.
- 33:55Speaker 5: Those clothes are so lovely lying to me. That's a
- 33:59Speaker 5: very uncommonfortable feeling, and I.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Can't No one wants to feel like they're being allaed to,
- 34:03Speaker 2: like not one person totally. I'd just be petty and
- 34:06Speaker 2: screenshot and send it to them and be like, would
- 34:08Speaker 2: you take fifty bucks? But yeah, true, like I love
- 34:14Speaker 2: this too, Like it's a bit expensive, though, don't you reckon?
- 34:17Speaker 6: I can I get any shit you down? They got
- 34:21Speaker 6: fifty seventy, we do fifty?
- 34:25Speaker 2: Will you do free?
- 34:27Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 34:27Speaker 4: Ideally free?
- 34:28Speaker 5: But also, like you know, there's a function like when
- 34:30Speaker 5: you're actually uploading things on the marketplace, you can say
- 34:33Speaker 5: you can for your friends.
- 34:34Speaker 6: Yes, Like that also makes you think maybe it wasn't
- 34:38Speaker 6: maybe they think about it.
- 34:40Speaker 5: I think it was malicious, And so there's a whole
- 34:42Speaker 5: nother kettle of fish.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Maybe your friend is just a bit daft, Like there
- 34:47Speaker 2: could be a few things. So we asked the community.
- 34:49Speaker 2: We said, do you think your friend is in the wrong.
- 34:52Speaker 2: It's not going to come as a surprise eighty six
- 34:54Speaker 2: percent if you said yes, one hundred percent. What she
- 34:57Speaker 2: did feels very calculated. We then asked, do you think
- 35:01Speaker 2: the friends should split the money she made? So that
- 35:04Speaker 2: was another layer to the conversation that I don't think so.
- 35:08Speaker 1: No.
- 35:08Speaker 2: So like you didn't do any of the work. You
- 35:11Speaker 2: gave it away essentially for free, which you were going
- 35:13Speaker 2: to you anyway, which we were going to do anyway.
- 35:16Speaker 2: You said you couldn't be bothered selling it, which tells
- 35:18Speaker 2: me that you never saw any financial gain in this,
- 35:21Speaker 2: but now you've seen somebody else have financial gain. It's
- 35:24Speaker 2: kind of like the question of like, if I gave
- 35:26Speaker 2: you a lot of ticket Jess, and you want one
- 35:27Speaker 2: hundred million dollars, do I get anything? Yeah, Like I
- 35:31Speaker 2: gave the gift out of my own free will, but
- 35:34Speaker 2: now you've benefited more significantly than I have.
- 35:38Speaker 6: Like I've heard he having families having fights when they
- 35:40Speaker 6: get like a scratchy and they're stocking on Christmas and
- 35:41Speaker 6: someone wins like five hundred bucks and they go, oh,
- 35:43Speaker 6: well I bought that, And so you're totally right, like
- 35:46Speaker 6: it's the gift thing.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Yeah, like it's the gift thing. You should be giving
- 35:50Speaker 2: a gift with absolutely no expectation of reciprocation, I think.
- 35:54Speaker 2: But we did say, do you think the friends should
- 35:56Speaker 2: split the money she made? Forty five percent of you
- 35:58Speaker 2: said yeah, it's the right thing to do, seven percent
- 36:01Speaker 2: said nope, she did all the work to sell them,
- 36:03Speaker 2: and forty eight percent said she doesn't have to, but
- 36:06Speaker 2: she should at least offer like the friends should offer,
- 36:09Speaker 2: which is so fair. And then my favorite part was
- 36:12Speaker 2: what would you say to your friend if this was you.
- 36:15Speaker 2: We said, ah, I should have gotten you to run
- 36:18Speaker 2: a wardrobe sale for me. Didn't realize you were.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Keen on it.
- 36:21Speaker 6: Oh my gosh.
- 36:23Speaker 2: This is my favorite bart because these women in my
- 36:26Speaker 2: DMS right now, they're as petty as I am. Welcome Queen.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Someone else said, glad you found a good home for
- 36:33Speaker 2: the clothes. Would you be up for joint charity donation?
- 36:37Speaker 6: That's a good happy medium.
- 36:38Speaker 2: Someone said, been nice knowing you. Someone said it would
- 36:43Speaker 2: be over simple as that. Just wouldn't talk to them.
- 36:45Speaker 2: I would ditch them as a friend. Someone said, wouldn't
- 36:48Speaker 2: be my friend anymore. Simples. Anybody says simples, I just
- 36:54Speaker 2: think of that.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Little bit symbols Yeah, it's really good.
- 36:58Speaker 2: There's been some other colorful response is I'm not going
- 37:00Speaker 2: to read out sure, so we hear them off here. Oh,
- 37:03Speaker 2: I'll read them. I will share the screenshot, a screenshot
- 37:06Speaker 2: all of these to share with the team later. Anyway,
- 37:08Speaker 2: someone said, oh, look, you made some good money off
- 37:10Speaker 2: my wardrobe. I noticed you've got everything listed for sale,
- 37:13Speaker 2: and then give her a chance to offer or split
- 37:15Speaker 2: some of the profits, letting her know that you know,
- 37:18Speaker 2: because you might not know that you can see or
- 37:20Speaker 2: would even check.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Lots of you said.
- 37:22Speaker 2: That you would just ignore it and not be happy
- 37:25Speaker 2: with it. But it seems that the general consensus is
- 37:28Speaker 2: that most of you would not be happy about this situation.
- 37:32Speaker 2: I don't know how you should deal with it. I
- 37:34Speaker 2: think you need to sit down and think about the
- 37:36Speaker 2: personality of your friend or you know the situation that
- 37:39Speaker 2: you have, is this actually going to put a spanner
- 37:41Speaker 2: in the works, because I mean going up to your
- 37:43Speaker 2: friend and being like, oh, I didn't realize you needed
- 37:45Speaker 2: the money for this. Like they might be just trying
- 37:47Speaker 2: to do their best to get ahead. There might be
- 37:49Speaker 2: in a heap of debt and they were really stressed
- 37:51Speaker 2: and saw an opportunity. Like I don't know. I just
- 37:53Speaker 2: think everything should be approached with kindness, and ultimately, from
- 37:58Speaker 2: my perspective, you were leaving the country, we're going to
- 38:00Speaker 2: donate them anyway. You definitely did still donate them totally.
- 38:05Speaker 4: Knowing that you have the validation of all in the
- 38:09Speaker 4: right place.
- 38:10Speaker 6: Yes, everyone's back in.
- 38:12Speaker 4: So you're not You're not like in the wrong for
- 38:14Speaker 4: being wrong.
- 38:15Speaker 3: But do we need to create drama?
- 38:17Speaker 2: Sure?
- 38:17Speaker 4: Sure, think about that. You might not be you know whatever.
- 38:20Speaker 2: I think that's a good place to leave it this week, guys,
- 38:22Speaker 2: think so. We hope you have the best weekend. We
- 38:24Speaker 2: hope you enjoy Valentine's Day. And next week, Jess, you
- 38:28Speaker 2: and I we're gonna be asking beck about our dates.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Come back then.
