Transcript
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Week five of the mini series.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: So we are approaching the halfway mark, but not quite there yet.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: So this is about keeping the motivation going, okay?
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Motivation can wane when things aren't shiny and brand new, and you're not full of the gusto that you were four weeks ago.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: So this is about staying driven, staying focused, especially in those moments when the initial excitement wears off, when the process starts to feel a little boring.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: So just think how how often have you started something and you've gone all in and full throttle and then just burn out.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: So this week is about exploring a deeper level of motivation, and one that's not dependent on hype or emotion, because that motivation fades.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: What truly sustains momentum is a combination of aligned values with your goal, a solid identity, and routines that make it easier to keep going.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: So this is about thinking what really drives you at a core level, what's your inner why?
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: And then creating practical ways to stay connected to that why.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: So when motivation gets quiet, your values can speak louder, your system can keep you moving forward.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: So discipline versus motivation.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Motivation is a short-term spot.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Discipline is what carries you forward.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: But when motivation is anchored in your core values, it does become more sustainable.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: So core values, they're the deeply held beliefs that guide your decisions, they shape your behavior, they define what truly matters to you.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: So family, career, hobbies, fitness, religion, they're the emotional drivers beneath your goals.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: The why behind the what.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: So for example, someone might say they want to lose weight, but underneath that goal might be a desire for freedom, confidence, longevity.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: So when you connect your actions to your core values, motivation becomes more sustainable because it's no longer about willpower, it's about alignment.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Knowing your values helps you stay committed, even on the hard days.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Because you're no longer just chasing a result or a thing, you're living in alignment with who you want to be, and you know that that goal is going to fit into that jigsaw.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: So I want to lose weight, might be the surface goal, might be the what, but the why, the deeper level goal, might be because I value energy, presence with my kids, long-term freedom.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: So you can re-fire up this goal of yours with a values elicitation exercise.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: This is an NLP technique.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: So when I say re-fire up that goal, we're five weeks in now.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: You set your goal five weeks ago.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: So let's let's relight the fire.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: So values elicitation exercise, what is it?
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: It's a tool that helps uncover the emotional drivers behind your goals, the deeper values that really truly inspire and guide you.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: So instead of on the surface saying to stick with our example, I want to lose two stone, you dig down into what that goal means to you, how it connects to who you are and what you care about.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: So, really, the process behind this is that simple questions equal powerful results.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: So, starting with your goal in mind, ask yourself, what does reaching this goal give me emotionally?
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: So, for example, I'll feel really proud of myself.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: So then ask yourself, and what does that give me?
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: Well, it might give me confidence, okay, and what does that give me?
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: Well, I'll feel more in control of my life and my decisions.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Okay, and what does that give me?
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Well, it gives me a sense of freedom.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: So you've gone three or four layers deep asking that same question, and what does that give me?
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: And what does that give me?
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: And then you land on those core values, so it might be freedom, might be confidence, peace, joy, connection, energy.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: So then you can create a little values map, you can go all blue pita, and you can create a visual reminder of your why, and it could just be a dead simple list, you could just write these words down, but it could be a mind map, and it could be your goal in the center, and all those values branching off it.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: You might want to create a vision board with images that represent those values.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: You might just want a sticky note with a phrase on it that says, I'm doing this for confidence, energy, and freedom.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: But don't just do it and leave it on your coffee table where the post gets chucked and the paper gets choked and everything gets chucked, and before you know it, it's at the bottom.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: Put it somewhere visible.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Put it on your mirror, put it on your fridge.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: Take a picture of it, use it as your wallpaper on your phone, put it in your knicker drawer, put it on your planner, in your diary, in your handbag.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: Because when you're tempted to quit or you feel stuck, your values might probably remind you.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: This isn't just about my goal, it's about becoming the person I want to be, and that kind of motivation really doesn't fade as easily.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: So this motivation is rooted in values, not just hype.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: Like I said at the beginning, anyone can get hype for a few days, couple of weeks, but real progress, and this is the kind of progress that feels good and lasts, that comes from consistent action aligned with those values.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: So it's a short one today, but I'm hoping it's gonna get you thinking, and I'm hoping it's gonna help you stay on course to hit that 12 week goal.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: So that's me over and out.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: Until next time.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
