- 0:00Speaker 1: She's on the Money. She's on the Money.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money, the podcast
- 0:26Speaker 2: for millennials who want financial freedom. Welcome back to another
- 0:30Speaker 2: one of our Friday Drinks episodes where we get to
- 0:33Speaker 2: celebrate the wins from our She's on the Money community
- 0:36Speaker 2: and talk a little bit later about some very juicy
- 0:39Speaker 2: ponsie schemes. I feel like I have uncovered Tony and Jess.
- 0:42Speaker 2: But before we get to my juicy, juicy news how
- 0:46Speaker 2: She's on the Money community and our team spend a
- 0:49Speaker 2: really big part of our week talking about the money
- 0:51Speaker 2: weeds and the fun financial things you guys do in
- 0:55Speaker 2: our community. So this is obviously an episode to celebrate that.
- 0:59Speaker 2: But before we get there, Tony, what happened on Our
- 1:01Speaker 2: Money Diary on Monday?
- 1:03Speaker 3: Our money diarist this week went through a breakup and
- 1:07Speaker 3: really wanted to go on a holiday, so started budgeting.
- 1:10Speaker 4: She'd never She'd never budgeted in her life.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Somebody tried to make her do the Barefoot Investor years
- 1:17Speaker 3: ago and she was like, absolutely not. And now she's
- 1:20Speaker 3: a little budgeting queen and she's saving all this money.
- 1:22Speaker 3: She got to go on her holiday, and she's saved
- 1:25Speaker 3: fifty thousand dollars already this year.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Ah.
- 1:28Speaker 2: That was actually a surprise. Honestly she was telling us
- 1:33Speaker 2: on that money Diary because obviously I don't mean to
- 1:35Speaker 2: be like having favorites on this show, but like money
- 1:38Speaker 2: diaryes are my favorite. Sorry bye, but this money Diary
- 1:41Speaker 2: was so fun because you could see how motivated she
- 1:44Speaker 2: was and how excited she was. Yep, I've just started
- 1:46Speaker 2: like properly saving. We're like, what's your goal and she's like, oh,
- 1:49Speaker 2: a hundred thousand dollars and we're like, oh har out,
- 1:51Speaker 2: like that's really steey, go like how are you going?
- 1:55Speaker 2: And I think Tony and I were expecting her to
- 1:56Speaker 2: be like, yep, got ten grand, maybe I'm doing a
- 1:58Speaker 2: couple of hundred dollars a month or something, and she's like, yeah,
- 2:01Speaker 2: I've saved fifty grand this year, and we both were like,
- 2:03Speaker 2: oh wow, so you're like already halfway there. Like way
- 2:06Speaker 2: to make us feel bad about our savings goals. So
- 2:10Speaker 2: it was honestly a really motivational episode that I think
- 2:13Speaker 2: just really showed us exactly how you don't actually need
- 2:16Speaker 2: to have always been good at money to actually just start.
- 2:18Speaker 2: You just need to find that motivation, and sometimes it
- 2:22Speaker 2: doesn't come until you broke up with someone or changed
- 2:24Speaker 2: your situation. And as I've said before, there is always
- 2:28Speaker 2: a trigger, Like you don't just one day wake up
- 2:30Speaker 2: and go, do.
- 2:30Speaker 5: You know what?
- 2:31Speaker 2: I'll start budgeting. Usually it's like, oh my god, I
- 2:34Speaker 2: never want to feel that way again. I can't believe
- 2:35Speaker 2: I didn't have the money for that bill, Or oh
- 2:38Speaker 2: I really had to miss out on this social circumstance
- 2:40Speaker 2: that all my friends got to go to and they
- 2:42Speaker 2: could all afford tickets and I just couldn't. I had,
- 2:44Speaker 2: I just didn't have the cash, so I missed out.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I need to get my together. So I think that
- 2:49Speaker 2: budgeting is usually very trigger based, and we always find
- 2:53Speaker 2: a motivation. It might be that you've changed your mind
- 2:55Speaker 2: and you're like, oh my god, I really do want
- 2:56Speaker 2: to own a property. I'm just going to get my
- 2:58Speaker 2: stuff together and start saving. But there's usually this trigger
- 3:01Speaker 2: point and I guess I would love and I'm sorry, Jess,
- 3:04Speaker 2: I'm throwing you under the bus again. I'd love to
- 3:06Speaker 2: today put a thread in the Facebook group and be
- 3:09Speaker 2: like what was your trigger point? Like what was your
- 3:11Speaker 2: change moment that was like Nah, I'm gonna get my
- 3:14Speaker 2: money life together, Like what was it? Because like for
- 3:17Speaker 2: some people, it is like missing out on a social event.
- 3:20Speaker 2: But I remember for me sitting on my bed with
- 3:22Speaker 2: my cat feeling really guilty because I couldn't afford the
- 3:26Speaker 2: really expensive cat food for him. And I knew that
- 3:28Speaker 2: I probably should have got my life together because by
- 3:31Speaker 2: that stage, I was a grid. I wasn't a unique
- 3:33Speaker 2: student anymore, and that used to be okay, but I
- 3:36Speaker 2: was like, oh, I really want to be in a
- 3:37Speaker 2: situation where like I can't afford the stuff that like
- 3:40Speaker 2: what what I deemed the fancy people to be buying.
- 3:43Speaker 2: And for me, that was such a change like point
- 3:46Speaker 2: in my motivation. And yes, there was so much going
- 3:49Speaker 2: on in the background, and I had debt and a
- 3:50Speaker 2: personal loan and I you know, struggled with that, but
- 3:53Speaker 2: those things literally weren't enough. And it turns out my
- 3:55Speaker 2: trigger point was me wanting to give my cat a
- 3:57Speaker 2: good life. So there you go. I would love, love
- 4:00Speaker 2: love to know what everybody else's is. So I will
- 4:03Speaker 2: put a thread in the Facebook group today and we
- 4:06Speaker 2: can have a chat about that. But we also had
- 4:09Speaker 2: a chat this week, Jess on our Wednesday episode What
- 4:12Speaker 2: Happened on Wednesday?
- 4:13Speaker 5: So you and g did a highly requested part two
- 4:18Speaker 5: to the Q and A episode we did a couple
- 4:19Speaker 5: of weeks ago. We had so many people asking more
- 4:23Speaker 5: and more questions. We get them every day, so it
- 4:25Speaker 5: was really great to have you guys sit down and
- 4:27Speaker 5: rapid fire answer a few of them. I will say,
- 4:31Speaker 5: if we ever do one of these episodes in the future,
- 4:33Speaker 5: don't forget we can't give you personalized advice. We get
- 4:36Speaker 5: a lot of people in our DMS asking really specific questions,
- 4:40Speaker 5: and because Victoria is a registered financial advisor, it's actually
- 4:43Speaker 5: not appropriate for us to be giving you that advice.
- 4:46Speaker 2: So it was three, it's actually inappropriate for anybody to
- 4:50Speaker 2: give you personal financial advice, regardless of whether they are
- 4:53Speaker 2: a financial advisor or not, without taking your holistic situation
- 4:56Speaker 2: into account, so like whether they are an advisor or
- 4:59Speaker 2: money coach. Like I think that's just like a just
- 5:02Speaker 2: be careful friends. It's not just because I'm an advisor.
- 5:04Speaker 2: It's because that's actually the responsible thing to do. And yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 2: that's my little side note of compliance, guys.
- 5:13Speaker 5: So, yeah, you guys got through a whole heap of
- 5:14Speaker 5: really fun questions. Hopefully people have some answers to some
- 5:18Speaker 5: things that they were wondering about, and as always, if
- 5:21Speaker 5: you have questions, let us know because it might end
- 5:23Speaker 5: up on a future episode, which.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Is honestly so fun. Those Q and A episodes are
- 5:27Speaker 2: very quickly becoming some of my favorite episodes because I
- 5:31Speaker 2: feel like I'm engaging more with our community and getting
- 5:33Speaker 2: to talk to you guys and actually answer your questions.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Like that's way more fun in my personal opinion then
- 5:40Speaker 2: you know, obviously doing all the research for an episode,
- 5:42Speaker 2: which promise we will continue to do because those are
- 5:44Speaker 2: super fun as well. But just knowing you're like, oh,
- 5:48Speaker 2: what is this? So how is this? Like? Okay, sit down,
- 5:50Speaker 2: I'm ready, I will teach you. So I just really
- 5:53Speaker 2: really love it. But given how much I love the
- 5:55Speaker 2: community and learning about what you guys are up to, Tony,
- 5:58Speaker 2: what were your favorite money from this week?
- 6:01Speaker 4: But I've got a few that I know, Jess you'll
- 6:03Speaker 4: be excited about.
- 6:05Speaker 3: But the first one is from Kim. Kim says money
- 6:08Speaker 3: Win found a pair of Levi jeans in my local
- 6:11Speaker 3: op shop, thirty dollars with the tags still on.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Wait, my jeans are like the ones that never wear out.
- 6:18Speaker 2: They're like the OG's that just last.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm pretty sure if you take them to a
- 6:22Speaker 3: Levi's store, they like fix them for free, the same
- 6:24Speaker 3: as the Lulu Lemon tights and stuff.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I know that Newdy Jeans do that as well, because
- 6:28Speaker 2: I put on a pair of jeans recently and it
- 6:30Speaker 2: turns out COVID wasn't as kind to me as I
- 6:32Speaker 2: would have liked it to be. And now I know
- 6:34Speaker 2: that I can go in and get that Zibra bed.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Oh thank god.
- 6:38Speaker 2: We were all waiting.
- 6:41Speaker 3: And Jess it is no barbecue, but Molina says I
- 6:44Speaker 3: won two months free with Audible from McDonald's monopoly.
- 6:48Speaker 4: Drink.
- 6:49Speaker 2: She's on the mummies on Audible. You're welcome.
- 6:52Speaker 5: The McDonald's coke also goes really hard. I love a
- 6:55Speaker 5: Maca's coke, oh so much better than any.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Are different than a can of coke?
- 7:00Speaker 5: Is?
- 7:00Speaker 2: Actually?
- 7:01Speaker 5: Yes?
- 7:02Speaker 4: Absolutely?
- 7:03Speaker 2: Why does it taste different? Is it because it's like
- 7:04Speaker 2: mixed with syrup?
- 7:05Speaker 5: Like?
- 7:05Speaker 2: Is it the syrup?
- 7:06Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 7:07Speaker 3: I think it's that it's post mix. Yeah, and it
- 7:09Speaker 3: like really quenches your thirst because it's got the soda
- 7:11Speaker 3: water in it.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I thinel, Yeah, okay, so can we get can we
- 7:15Speaker 2: actually buy the coke syrup? Because I'm pretty convinced with
- 7:18Speaker 2: my soda stream at home. I've had the coke syrup.
- 7:20Speaker 2: It's just not the same thing, is it?
- 7:22Speaker 4: Jess and I have it in the office.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but is it as good?
- 7:25Speaker 5: I feel like they're not giving away their secret sauce.
- 7:28Speaker 4: That's what I mean that you must be a conspiracy comparable.
- 7:33Speaker 5: But there's got to be something different because nothing hits
- 7:35Speaker 5: as hard as a Macas coke.
- 7:36Speaker 2: So we enjoy freeb so literally, I feel like they
- 7:40Speaker 2: do withhold it because they know that you guys say
- 7:42Speaker 2: things like this like maccas Coke is the best coke,
- 7:44Speaker 2: so they're probably like sprinkling MSG or something in it.
- 7:48Speaker 4: And another Macas Monopoly win.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Four free soy lattes for free, says Paula, which is
- 7:53Speaker 3: another great money win. But unfortunately, no barbecue. We haven't
- 7:56Speaker 3: seen the barbecue come up yet. Jess is desperate for
- 7:59Speaker 3: a Maca's Monopoly barbecue.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Maybe it'll hold.
- 8:02Speaker 2: We do a quick shout out, hold on, this can
- 8:05Speaker 2: be a save jest Jess, what is the ticket that
- 8:08Speaker 2: you need to get your Monopoly barbecue?
- 8:10Speaker 5: Old Kent Road she's evasive, she's out there, she's calling
- 8:14Speaker 5: my name.
- 8:15Speaker 2: So if anyone's apersive, I like it. She's really hard
- 8:19Speaker 2: to get a holder.
- 8:19Speaker 5: So if anyone would like to, I don't know what
- 8:22Speaker 5: I could possibly offer you in return give them.
- 8:25Speaker 2: No, we can give them a budget and cash. Glue
- 8:28Speaker 2: must class with ninety five dollars. That's better than a barbecue,
- 8:31Speaker 2: if you ask me. Not just a barbecue, Like, if
- 8:34Speaker 2: you've only got that ticket, like you haven't got the barbecue.
- 8:37Speaker 2: You've got to have the matching pairs, so like it's
- 8:40Speaker 2: something for potentially nothing, or you can keep looking for
- 8:43Speaker 2: your second ticket, get your barbecue. That's fine. But if
- 8:46Speaker 2: you want to give just the money with like, it
- 8:48Speaker 2: just seems like a no brainer, you know.
- 8:49Speaker 3: All right, So now that we've tried to get just
- 8:51Speaker 3: money in barbecue, Lauren says, I received my car insurance renewal,
- 8:56Speaker 3: which prompted me to shop.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Around, found another insurer with.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Fifteen percent count if you buy online, and saved over
- 9:02Speaker 3: three hundred dollars annually.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that so much money, I know.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Charlotte says went to Spotlight yesterday for some blockout blinds,
- 9:10Speaker 3: and while the blinds were forty percent off. We also
- 9:12Speaker 3: found some cushions for our couch, mark down to fifteen
- 9:15Speaker 3: dollars that were originally forty dollars each.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Forty bucks a cushion.
- 9:20Speaker 4: I mean, no, she's living loveta Loca.
- 9:23Speaker 3: I could never look at a forty dollars cushion and go,
- 9:25Speaker 3: you know what, yep, I'll do it. But I mean
- 9:27Speaker 3: they were only fifteen, so maybe it's fine.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Is that how much cushions cost? Because my mum bought
- 9:31Speaker 2: the cushions that are on my couch, I've just never
- 9:33Speaker 2: considered this.
- 9:34Speaker 3: My cushions are from Ikia and like the fake feathers
- 9:37Speaker 3: pop out all the time, so if you're sitting on
- 9:41Speaker 3: one of them, more's in your back or you just
- 9:43Speaker 3: get the little pokes from the feathers like.
- 9:44Speaker 4: In Your's really nice. Yeah, it's like a little massage.
- 9:48Speaker 4: It's like you get acupuncture every time you sit on.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Puncture is really expensive. So that is the money win
- 9:54Speaker 2: for you, Tony.
- 9:55Speaker 4: I'll use that next week.
- 9:57Speaker 3: And Nanya says money win paid off eight hundred dollars
- 10:00Speaker 3: out of my two thousand dollars credit card debt, which
- 10:02Speaker 3: is so exciting.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Ye, so exciting knowing it. You're literally nearly halfway there.
- 10:08Speaker 2: I bet that there was a time when you were like,
- 10:10Speaker 2: oh my gosh, this feels so hard to swallow. But
- 10:13Speaker 2: we're nearly halfway there. There is not far to.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Go, my friends, so make sure you give us an update.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Holly says.
- 10:19Speaker 3: I entered a competition from my university where I had
- 10:22Speaker 3: to make three short videos about academic integrity. The prizes
- 10:25Speaker 3: were super generous fifty dollars if your video was used
- 10:29Speaker 3: by the university, seventy five dollars if you were one
- 10:32Speaker 3: of the first ten entrants, which is easy money if
- 10:35Speaker 3: you just got it in on time.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Literally, just don't even put your actual entrance in. Just
- 10:39Speaker 2: make a quick selfish pay here for my seventy five bucks.
- 10:42Speaker 2: You'll put my good one in later. That's technically meeting
- 10:45Speaker 2: the rules.
- 10:46Speaker 3: I agree, and bigger money prizes for the top three videos.
- 10:49Speaker 3: I would have been stoked with just fifty dollars for
- 10:52Speaker 3: my video being used, so I entered. I did not
- 10:54Speaker 3: expect to win five hundred dollars for first place, as
- 10:57Speaker 3: well as the seventy five dollars and fifty dollar bonuses,
- 11:01Speaker 3: So a total of six hundred and twenty five dollars.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, it's an influencer. She's creating content that
- 11:07Speaker 2: makes her an influencer.
- 11:09Speaker 5: I feel like there's always really fun stuff like that
- 11:11Speaker 5: going around at unit. It's worth kicking eye. I know,
- 11:14Speaker 5: when you're in class there's a message board. I'm sure
- 11:16Speaker 5: they'd be an online equivalent while we're all learning remotely.
- 11:19Speaker 5: But like make that cash girl.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, Like the university guilds and stuff are always
- 11:25Speaker 3: running things like that. And also we've had a few
- 11:29Speaker 3: people post wins in the past where they've applied for
- 11:32Speaker 3: little scholarships here and there and gotten like one hundred
- 11:35Speaker 3: dollars Apple vouchers for a new laptop and stuff. So
- 11:37Speaker 3: make sure that you have a look and make sure
- 11:39Speaker 3: that you're really ringing your university.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Try for all.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Money you're giving them.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Absolutely. Yeah, I was about to say, you guys paid
- 11:46Speaker 2: them enough. It's time to find out how you can
- 11:48Speaker 2: get something back exactly.
- 11:51Speaker 3: And finally, a really special one, Alice says, massive emotional
- 11:55Speaker 3: money win or maybe money even. I broke even on
- 11:59Speaker 3: my small business this weekend.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, which is how exciting is that? I know,
- 12:05Speaker 2: imagine starting a business and going into debt and going
- 12:08Speaker 2: through all of that to then finally break even. My friend,
- 12:11Speaker 2: everything is up from here.
- 12:13Speaker 4: I know.
- 12:13Speaker 3: So congrats, Alice, Thank you so much for sharing with us,
- 12:16Speaker 3: And we would love it if you DM us and
- 12:18Speaker 3: let us know that you're Alice from Friday Drinks and
- 12:21Speaker 3: we'll pop your small business as a little shout out
- 12:23Speaker 3: in our newsletter as well, which is so good, Oh
- 12:25Speaker 3: my gosh.
- 12:26Speaker 2: And there maybe there might be a tiny bit of
- 12:28Speaker 2: profit for you that could be on next week's Money
- 12:30Speaker 2: with Bread.
- 12:37Speaker 5: So I have something that I want to talk about
- 12:40Speaker 5: this week because we've been getting lots of dms to
- 12:43Speaker 5: the Instagram about this and I have also seen it
- 12:45Speaker 5: all over my TikTok. It just seems to be absolutely
- 12:48Speaker 5: everywhere right now and I feel like it's the latest
- 12:52Speaker 5: get rich quick scheme. But V I want your thoughts.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Have you heard of AI marketing?
- 12:59Speaker 2: Yes? And what are your thoughts? Like is it to
- 13:03Speaker 2: before I get into this, because like you're gonna have
- 13:05Speaker 2: to literally sit down because I'm about to go on
- 13:08Speaker 2: a rant. But Jess, when you saw that, how did
- 13:11Speaker 2: you feel about it? Like, tell me about the TikTok
- 13:14Speaker 2: that you've seen and about I guess what I don't
- 13:17Speaker 2: know what it felt like, because I feel like I've
- 13:19Speaker 2: also had a lot of dms this week from people
- 13:22Speaker 2: in our community and just people on my Instagram being like,
- 13:24Speaker 2: oh my god, Vie, have you seen this? Can you
- 13:26Speaker 2: do a whole episode on this? And I keep being like,
- 13:28Speaker 2: oh my gosh, this is so concerning, and nobody seems
- 13:32Speaker 2: to be talking about it. When I did some research
- 13:34Speaker 2: because I knew you said you wanted to ask me
- 13:36Speaker 2: about this on the show, I could not find any
- 13:39Speaker 2: news articles about it. I literally had to go into
- 13:42Speaker 2: the depths of the internet, or, as Amy Lenardi would
- 13:45Speaker 2: say on the property playbook Tony.
- 13:46Speaker 4: The dark Web, the dark Web.
- 13:48Speaker 2: No, I didn't actually go in the dark web, but
- 13:50Speaker 2: it took a really long time to research this and
- 13:52Speaker 2: uncover what we are going to talk about. But I think, firstly,
- 13:56Speaker 2: tell me about this TikTok stuff, like what is it?
- 13:59Speaker 5: So there's this real trend right now. I think of
- 14:02Speaker 5: people wanting to make some extra money, set themselves up financially,
- 14:06Speaker 5: which we love to see it, like, we are all
- 14:09Speaker 5: about that. That's what we do here. We love seeing
- 14:11Speaker 5: people empowered to take control, start a little site. Us
- 14:14Speaker 5: will do a little something something, But it kind of
- 14:17Speaker 5: feels like with that I guess change that people want
- 14:20Speaker 5: to make, there's a group of people that also just
- 14:24Speaker 5: want to take advantage and capitalize on those people who
- 14:27Speaker 5: are looking for guidance or for help.
- 14:29Speaker 2: And so the tiktoks that I've.
- 14:31Speaker 5: Been seeing have been really I'm gonna call it girl
- 14:34Speaker 5: boss here, like yep, I work from the comfort of
- 14:36Speaker 5: my home three days a week and I make X
- 14:39Speaker 5: amount of dollars doing absolutely nothing. And I can show
- 14:42Speaker 5: you how if you buy my short course.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Which is an instant red flag if ever you've seen one, right, Like.
- 14:49Speaker 5: There's red flags popping up left, right, and center, and
- 14:51Speaker 5: it's that it's got MLM vibes written all over it
- 14:54Speaker 5: to me.
- 14:55Speaker 2: But I don't know if say they're not an MLM,
- 14:57Speaker 2: right they are making videos that say, no, this is
- 15:01Speaker 2: absolutely not an MLM. Don't worry, guys, this is definitely
- 15:04Speaker 2: not a pyramid scheme. And what Jess is referring to
- 15:09Speaker 2: at the moment is I guess you could call it
- 15:11Speaker 2: like a trend because it's not just one company. There's
- 15:14Speaker 2: a number of companies where are going to specifically talk
- 15:17Speaker 2: about my research on AI marketing that is the company name,
- 15:22Speaker 2: but essentially it's AI marketing bots, and the lure of
- 15:25Speaker 2: it is, hey, invest your money with these AI marketing bots.
- 15:30Speaker 2: They will invest your money into marketing and give you
- 15:33Speaker 2: a return. You go, okay, cool, Like that kind of
- 15:35Speaker 2: makes sense, and the premise of it sounds a little
- 15:39Speaker 2: bit like referral marketing, So I'm okay, I can kind
- 15:41Speaker 2: of see how this might work. What they're actually invested in,
- 15:45Speaker 2: I don't know. This week, I have actually emailed their
- 15:48Speaker 2: company three separate times with absolutely no response. But essentially
- 15:52Speaker 2: the crux of the conversation Jess is that we've had
- 15:55Speaker 2: a lot of messages from people being like, Oh my gosh, Victoria,
- 15:58Speaker 2: this AI marketing bot stuff sounds so great. Is it
- 16:00Speaker 2: like the next crypto? Is it something that I can
- 16:03Speaker 2: invest in and make a lot of money with? And
- 16:05Speaker 2: there's a lot of TikTokers that are saying, Oh my gosh,
- 16:08Speaker 2: I'm going to retire by the age of thirty, and
- 16:11Speaker 2: this is how I'm going to do it. Join me.
- 16:13Speaker 2: If you use my code, you'll get fifty dollars in
- 16:15Speaker 2: your account to start, and it sounds really exciting, but
- 16:18Speaker 2: there are a heap of red flags that to me
- 16:21Speaker 2: jumped out. They're very defensive on TikTok about it. No,
- 16:24Speaker 2: it's legit, it's fine. So we haven't actually tackled this
- 16:28Speaker 2: in Australia. It wouldn't be surprised if this hits the
- 16:31Speaker 2: news at some point in the future and we start
- 16:33Speaker 2: talking about it. But essentially in August, on the seventeenth
- 16:37Speaker 2: of August, the Central Bank of Russia issued a pyramid
- 16:41Speaker 2: scheme warning against AI Marketing and essentially said that this
- 16:45Speaker 2: is absolutely not the type of thing that you want
- 16:48Speaker 2: to get involved with. And the reason for that was
- 16:51Speaker 2: because the company behind AI Marketing, and I've done the research,
- 16:56Speaker 2: AI Marketing is actually owned by a company called where
- 17:00Speaker 2: Bexford Alliance Limited, which is not based in Australia. It's
- 17:04Speaker 2: essentially based in Hong Kong. And from my understanding, it
- 17:08Speaker 2: just looks like a shell company. And when we say
- 17:10Speaker 2: shell company, a shell company is a company that you
- 17:13Speaker 2: set up so that you can say you're in Hong
- 17:14Speaker 2: Kong because the rules in Hong Kong are different to
- 17:17Speaker 2: maybe the US where you lived.
- 17:19Speaker 4: So it's a bit sneaky.
- 17:21Speaker 2: It's a little bit sneaky, and you set it up
- 17:23Speaker 2: so that you can get away with some more things
- 17:25Speaker 2: that their country allows you to do and pay their
- 17:28Speaker 2: tax rates in all of that stuff while not having
- 17:31Speaker 2: to adhere to the American standard or the American version
- 17:34Speaker 2: of tax. And the Central Bank of Russia has essentially
- 17:38Speaker 2: come out and officially said that AI marketing Byworkx for
- 17:42Speaker 2: the Alliance Limited shows signs of a pyramid scheme, and
- 17:46Speaker 2: they're currently investigating that. However, on the twelfth of July,
- 17:51Speaker 2: a very similar company called NB Network was completely suspended
- 17:57Speaker 2: from making AI marketing withdrawals, which affect I defitely meant
- 18:00Speaker 2: it collapsed their entire Ponzi scheme. So at the moment
- 18:04Speaker 2: you're seeing on tiktoks and people they're like, oh my gosh,
- 18:06Speaker 2: I invested my first twelve hundred dollars, Like if I
- 18:08Speaker 2: keep going, I've calculated that I'll retire by thirty which
- 18:11Speaker 2: would be true if it's true. But at the moment,
- 18:13Speaker 2: the money that is being made is essentially being distributed
- 18:16Speaker 2: between all of the people. So Tony, if you went
- 18:19Speaker 2: and invested your first thousand dollars, they might take that
- 18:21Speaker 2: and distribute it to the people who are already in it.
- 18:23Speaker 2: So they feel like they're getting profit when in actual
- 18:26Speaker 2: fact they're not, So it's justifying it. People are talking
- 18:29Speaker 2: about it and perpetuating this into feeling like it's legit,
- 18:33Speaker 2: because Tony, if you put your money in, and you
- 18:35Speaker 2: put your thousand dollars in and next week you had
- 18:37Speaker 2: twelve hundred dollars, you'd be like, the I don't know
- 18:38Speaker 2: what you're talking about. This is real money, yeah, in
- 18:40Speaker 2: my real account, Like I've tested it. I've tried it.
- 18:44Speaker 4: And you'd be stoked on that return too, wouldn't you Exactly.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I'd be over the moon. But essentially, what has happened
- 18:50Speaker 2: to an almost identical company that was shut down. So
- 18:54Speaker 2: the company we're talking about currently has a warning on it,
- 18:56Speaker 2: but the company that was shut down, everything just ceased.
- 18:59Speaker 2: So the thousand dollars that you had invested, you might
- 19:01Speaker 2: have reinvested that, you'll never see that again. So everything
- 19:04Speaker 2: just ground to a halt, and everybody in that scheme
- 19:08Speaker 2: just lost all of their money at that point in time.
- 19:11Speaker 2: So there would be people that would turn around and
- 19:13Speaker 2: be like, heyy, like I did it, I tested it out,
- 19:15Speaker 2: I pulled my money out, I'm still up, Like it's fine.
- 19:19Speaker 2: That's because their money wasn't in the account when it
- 19:21Speaker 2: shut down. That's because they were in a lucky position essentially.
- 19:25Speaker 2: But I think that the reason I want to talk
- 19:27Speaker 2: about this and not, you know, get too much into it.
- 19:29Speaker 2: I just wanted to tell you guys, yes, I did
- 19:31Speaker 2: do the proper research, and I do understand it. And
- 19:33Speaker 2: from all intents and purposes, this is from every single
- 19:37Speaker 2: sign that we can see a Ponzi scheme or a MLM,
- 19:41Speaker 2: which is not going to put you in the best
- 19:42Speaker 2: possible position. But it really leads into how influential TikTok
- 19:47Speaker 2: fin influences are and Instagram for influencers are and what
- 19:50Speaker 2: that actually means for us, because let's be honest, guys,
- 19:54Speaker 2: I'm a finfluencer. How do you know the difference between
- 19:58Speaker 2: what's something Victoria Devine and what's someone on the internet
- 20:02Speaker 2: who has a TikTok account who's trying to tell you
- 20:04Speaker 2: invest in this. It's really easy, Like how do you
- 20:07Speaker 2: know the difference between those two things? And like what
- 20:10Speaker 2: is the right way forward? Because from my perspective, how
- 20:13Speaker 2: do you keep yourself safe on a place where you
- 20:16Speaker 2: just thought that people were doing the right thing when
- 20:18Speaker 2: in reality, I think that the people that are perpetuating
- 20:21Speaker 2: this genuinely believe that they're also doing the right thing
- 20:24Speaker 2: by sharing this awesome plan with you, Like it's an
- 20:27Speaker 2: investing plan. They've made money, They've made quote real money.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I mean. One of the warning flags to me as well, guys,
- 20:33Speaker 2: is that you're not allowed to withdraw the money into
- 20:35Speaker 2: a bank account. It has to be withdrawn into like
- 20:37Speaker 2: a PayPal account. What legit investment actually has that?
- 20:41Speaker 5: Yeah, come on, I think it comes back to, and
- 20:43Speaker 5: this is a conversation I had with someone earlier in
- 20:46Speaker 5: the week, is that people should be providing you information
- 20:51Speaker 5: and resources, and that's something we try and do on
- 20:53Speaker 5: Shees on the Money to empower you to make your
- 20:56Speaker 5: own decisions. If someone is standing in front of you
- 20:59Speaker 5: and saying this is the best and only option that
- 21:01Speaker 5: you can or should ever take, to me, that's a
- 21:05Speaker 5: really significant red flag because, like, there's so many different
- 21:09Speaker 5: things that factor in, from risk profile to you know,
- 21:12Speaker 5: your personal values, that it's actually impossible for someone to
- 21:15Speaker 5: tell you if something is good for you or not
- 21:17Speaker 5: without them having an in depth knowledge. The way that
- 21:20Speaker 5: if you consulted with a financial advisor or a financial
- 21:23Speaker 5: counselor then they would have that overview.
- 21:26Speaker 2: But if people are.
- 21:27Speaker 5: Just telling you to do something, it's so important, no
- 21:31Speaker 5: matter how much you trust them, that you still go
- 21:33Speaker 5: away and do your own research and still look into
- 21:36Speaker 5: it and make sure you understand it, because you know, everybody,
- 21:40Speaker 5: as you say, from us to people who have no
- 21:43Speaker 5: financial knowledge whatsoever, anybody can put themselves out there on
- 21:47Speaker 5: the Internet and say something and if you have enough charisma,
- 21:50Speaker 5: it's believable. And so yeah, and that's where it's really
- 21:54Speaker 5: scary and really hard, because there's not a lot of
- 21:57Speaker 5: regulation on a lot of these newer platforms, and it's
- 22:01Speaker 5: so so essential that you go away and you do
- 22:03Speaker 5: the research and you look into a business or you
- 22:05Speaker 5: look into an investment before you put your money into something,
- 22:09Speaker 5: because one hundred percent, that's your money, and the person
- 22:12Speaker 5: who is best placed to.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Look after your money is you.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think it's really important as well that
- 22:18Speaker 2: TikTok isn't research. And I know that you guys are
- 22:19Speaker 2: probably going to roll your eyes milling Yeah, VI, we know,
- 22:22Speaker 2: but I'm looking at these accounts and I've obviously spent
- 22:25Speaker 2: a very long time on TikTok this week, and it
- 22:28Speaker 2: was for business. It was for work purposes, guys. But
- 22:32Speaker 2: these guys are providing what I would deem to be
- 22:34Speaker 2: the receipts, Like if I didn't have the financial education
- 22:37Speaker 2: that I do, and I'm very grateful that I do.
- 22:39Speaker 2: They're posting really responsive replies to everybody's comments, and they're
- 22:43Speaker 2: actually providing screenshots of their bank accounts and what money
- 22:47Speaker 2: they're making, and you kind of go, this feels legit,
- 22:50Speaker 2: and like even I got swept up in the emotion
- 22:53Speaker 2: of it looking at it when I first began, because
- 22:55Speaker 2: I was like, oh, this kind of sound. This is
- 22:56Speaker 2: so interesting, and like I feel awful comparing it to this.
- 23:00Speaker 2: But like, for me, a genuine money win is our
- 23:03Speaker 2: friends it shot back, and I'm like, oh, if you
- 23:05Speaker 2: do this, you get money in your account that is
- 23:07Speaker 2: very legitimate. Like that is absolutely something that I go, yeah, cool,
- 23:11Speaker 2: Like that's the way I can see where it comes from.
- 23:13Speaker 2: I know where that money is coming from and why
- 23:15Speaker 2: it's there, and they can clearly articulate it and it's
- 23:17Speaker 2: by no means a bad thing, really great way to
- 23:20Speaker 2: have a money win. This is like spoken about in
- 23:23Speaker 2: a very similar vein, so you kind of go, oh,
- 23:25Speaker 2: well that that makes sense, But then you start going,
- 23:28Speaker 2: but where's the money coming from? Like cool, if it's
- 23:31Speaker 2: a marketing bot, it's obviously like maybe automating marketing. What in?
- 23:36Speaker 2: How in? Where in can I see the performance? Because
- 23:40Speaker 2: even the most complex investments on the ASX, like you
- 23:44Speaker 2: could go and pick up an ETF and go v
- 23:46Speaker 2: the CTF is literally holding three hundred separate companies. Cool,
- 23:50Speaker 2: I can provide a report on every single one of
- 23:52Speaker 2: those companies. I can show you what percentage you're holding,
- 23:55Speaker 2: what their return was, what their company profile is, so
- 23:58Speaker 2: I can tell you who their CEO is, and I
- 23:59Speaker 2: can tell exactly why their company increased in value over
- 24:02Speaker 2: the last twelve months. I have literally no idea and
- 24:07Speaker 2: no way to research where the money and the returney
- 24:10Speaker 2: is coming from. This it seems really wild. And the
- 24:14Speaker 2: fact that these girls who are our age Tony and
- 24:17Speaker 2: Jess like they are our age, and they seem so
- 24:20Speaker 2: nice and honestly so enthusiastic, You go, oh my gosh,
- 24:24Speaker 2: I can see all this passion, and I feel like
- 24:26Speaker 2: they're going to end up being let down as well,
- 24:28Speaker 2: because not only are they kind of like leading this
- 24:30Speaker 2: and jumping on TikTok and saying, oh my gosh, like
- 24:33Speaker 2: this is such a good idea. I'm making bank and
- 24:36Speaker 2: I really want you to as well. Like I get that,
- 24:39Speaker 2: Like I get that underlying feeling, like that's why we
- 24:41Speaker 2: have She's on the money because I want to share
- 24:44Speaker 2: financial literacy with you, guys. I want you to be safe,
- 24:46Speaker 2: I want you to be secure, and I want you
- 24:48Speaker 2: to have the best financial future. And I can kind
- 24:51Speaker 2: of see that passion reflected in them, but it's really
- 24:54Speaker 2: sad because they've been deceived and they've believed this thing
- 24:58Speaker 2: that is not ultimately going to create that for them.
- 25:01Speaker 2: And while it might look like they're making quite legitimate
- 25:04Speaker 2: thousands of dollars today, at some point, in arguably the
- 25:08Speaker 2: very near future, it's going to come to a grinding
- 25:10Speaker 2: hole and a lot of people are going to lose
- 25:12Speaker 2: a lot of money, and a lot of people are
- 25:14Speaker 2: going to be really resentful of them because they're the
- 25:16Speaker 2: ones that actually guided them to starting that. And maybe
- 25:20Speaker 2: you'd never invested before, Like, for example, Tony, if I
- 25:23Speaker 2: said you, hey, like invest your first thousand, You're like,
- 25:26Speaker 2: oh my gosh, Like that's such a big amount of money.
- 25:28Speaker 2: But I've watched all your tiktoks and I'm really invested
- 25:31Speaker 2: in this, Like you'd be heartbroken, or anybody would be
- 25:34Speaker 2: heartbroken in that situation. And I think it just does
- 25:38Speaker 2: really negative things for the investment world because that's not
- 25:41Speaker 2: a true investment. That's a scheme, that is not how
- 25:44Speaker 2: the world works, and you're probably going to be tainted
- 25:48Speaker 2: by that and a bit burnt. So investing as a
- 25:51Speaker 2: whole is not something that you're going to want to
- 25:53Speaker 2: pick up because in your head, the last time you
- 25:56Speaker 2: tried investing, you got really burnt.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Yeah, because money definitely has that like emotional muscle memory.
- 26:01Speaker 3: So it's like when you have to spend money on
- 26:04Speaker 3: something that like when you were younger, that your parents
- 26:07Speaker 3: always thought about or you know, just as an example,
- 26:09Speaker 3: then it makes you resent spending money on that thing.
- 26:13Speaker 3: So then if an investment goes bad, you're going to
- 26:15Speaker 3: be very nervous the next time you even think about it,
- 26:18Speaker 3: or maybe never do it again. The other thing with
- 26:20Speaker 3: this is that, like the name AI marketing is so
- 26:25Speaker 3: misleading as well, because if you say to someone, oh,
- 26:29Speaker 3: I've invested in AI marketing, you would assume that they
- 26:33Speaker 3: meant the verb, not the noun, Like that you were
- 26:36Speaker 3: investing into a company that did AI marketing as in
- 26:40Speaker 3: LA like of Roto marketing.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that's probably a company on the AX that are
- 26:45Speaker 2: genuinely turning really great profits. Because kind of makes sense, right,
- 26:48Speaker 2: it's twenty twenty one AI that's increasing in popularity and
- 26:52Speaker 2: technology and marketing. We live on the internet now, so
- 26:56Speaker 2: it makes sense we'd be like, Oh, that sounds like
- 26:58Speaker 2: a really cool growth opportunity, Like what a genius.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Because when Jess and I were talking about this earlier
- 27:04Speaker 3: in the week, my boyfriend Thorbes actually works in AI.
- 27:07Speaker 3: He's a software developer and he works in AI like
- 27:09Speaker 3: robots and making people's lives easier and stuff like so smart.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Imagine if you could say that your partner literally built robots.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Oh my god, software robots, not like actual ones that
- 27:21Speaker 3: are like I am a Robert you know.
- 27:23Speaker 2: I don't want to hear the rest of that story.
- 27:25Speaker 3: And so when Jess was talking to me about AI marketing,
- 27:28Speaker 3: I was like, oh, yeah, they're obviously talking about this
- 27:30Speaker 3: because in my house that's what AI means.
- 27:34Speaker 4: And then now we're talking about it, I'm like, oh
- 27:36Speaker 4: my god, I probably would be sucked into that day.
- 27:41Speaker 2: No, but that's just it, right, and that's why I'm
- 27:43Speaker 2: flagging it because even me, who has I would say,
- 27:47Speaker 2: a very significant financial level of literacy, I felt immediately
- 27:52Speaker 2: comfortable with this person on TikTok. I really liked her.
- 27:56Speaker 2: I felt like that was, you know, one of our
- 27:58Speaker 2: community making videos. And I was like, ooh, this about
- 28:00Speaker 2: this is fun because I had seen those tiktoks and
- 28:04Speaker 2: like not properly engaged with them before someone had asked
- 28:06Speaker 2: me about them. So I was like, oh, yeah, okay,
- 28:08Speaker 2: Like I think it's just like an investment thing that
- 28:10Speaker 2: I haven't really done some research into. And just like you, Tony,
- 28:13Speaker 2: my partner works in marketing, so like it was just
- 28:15Speaker 2: like okay, yeah, like that's an up and coming thing.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Like all I hear all day is digital marketing. This
- 28:20Speaker 2: digital marketing that because like we live in the same
- 28:22Speaker 2: house during COVID lockdown and it's like I'm privy to
- 28:25Speaker 2: all these meetings. Is really sweet. But it's one of
- 28:28Speaker 2: those things that you're right, you just immediately feel really
- 28:31Speaker 2: comfortable with it because it feels very twenty twenty one.
- 28:34Speaker 2: And I mean it's also one of those things where
- 28:36Speaker 2: even if we didn't feel comfortable with it, like crypto
- 28:39Speaker 2: and bitcoin are thrown around so commonly nowadays, and like
- 28:42Speaker 2: it's one of those things where if you went and
- 28:44Speaker 2: bought a true bitcoin, for me, I'm not willing to
- 28:47Speaker 2: take on that risk. There's too much volatility in that market.
- 28:49Speaker 2: It goes up and down, and for me, that risk
- 28:51Speaker 2: isn't worth it. And I don't think that, based on
- 28:53Speaker 2: my research, it's something that I would be comfortable recommending
- 28:56Speaker 2: to a client or you know, our community. So for me, no,
- 29:00Speaker 2: bitcoin is legit. We're not even saying here, hey, like
- 29:03Speaker 2: it's a bit like bitcoin, it's just risky. No, this
- 29:05Speaker 2: is a legitimate Ponzi scheme that is going to lose
- 29:09Speaker 2: a lot of people a lot of money. And I
- 29:11Speaker 2: am genuinely terrified that people are allowed to publish content
- 29:16Speaker 2: on a platform that is so easily accessible and so convincing,
- 29:20Speaker 2: Whereas historically, like Ponzi schemes, you'd have to like be
- 29:23Speaker 2: invited to someone's house to sign up, and there was
- 29:26Speaker 2: a whole you'd have to go around to the loop
- 29:27Speaker 2: de loop to get involved, whereas now it's just literally
- 29:32Speaker 2: on the Internet and they've got Facebook groups and Facebook
- 29:34Speaker 2: pages that you can follow, and as I said, it
- 29:38Speaker 2: feels incredibly transparent, like when somebody is open enough to say, hey,
- 29:42Speaker 2: the here's my bank screenshots. Look how much money I make?
- 29:46Speaker 2: Who am I to argue with you? So it's now
- 29:48Speaker 2: literally only this week where I'm doing a deep dive
- 29:50Speaker 2: into this. I'm like, guys, they were blacklisted by the
- 29:53Speaker 2: Russian government on the thirteenth of July, and then on
- 29:56Speaker 2: the sixteenth the Central Bank of Russia issued a legitimate
- 30:00Speaker 2: public warning, like, can somebody maybe let Australians know as well,
- 30:03Speaker 2: because like nobody's talking about this, and the fact that
- 30:06Speaker 2: there is such significant warnings existing, like why are we
- 30:10Speaker 2: not talking about this? I mean, I did have to
- 30:11Speaker 2: translate a lot of the websites that I was on
- 30:13Speaker 2: from Russian. Thank you Google Translations. I'm say you learned Russian.
- 30:18Speaker 2: But it seems to be relatively well covered over there,
- 30:21Speaker 2: whereas in comparison, like, we haven't heard anything about this,
- 30:25Speaker 2: and very recently I watched a conference video online where
- 30:28Speaker 2: Jane Hume, who is a local MP, was talking a
- 30:31Speaker 2: lot about TikTok influences and you know, not being a
- 30:34Speaker 2: fan of finfluencers, and I can kind of get where
- 30:37Speaker 2: she's coming from because there is a lot of danger
- 30:40Speaker 2: in this topic and there isn't a lot of regulation
- 30:42Speaker 2: around what we do and how it works. I mean,
- 30:45Speaker 2: the financial services industry is a little bit different. That's
- 30:48Speaker 2: incredibly regulated, yes, but people who just want to start
- 30:51Speaker 2: a TikTok and they're really passionate about wealth creation, which
- 30:54Speaker 2: I feel like has existed for a couple of years
- 30:56Speaker 2: and is now the center of conversation. But if it's
- 31:00Speaker 2: one of those things where how do you know they're
- 31:02Speaker 2: being regulated and should they be regulated and what's going on?
- 31:05Speaker 2: And you know, Jane Hume just wanted to call to
- 31:08Speaker 2: essentially counsel them all, And I don't particularly agree with
- 31:11Speaker 2: that because I actually want to have open, honess conversations
- 31:14Speaker 2: about wealth and money and I would love to think
- 31:16Speaker 2: that more people created more money content. But how do
- 31:20Speaker 2: you differentiate between the stuff that's dangerous and the stuff
- 31:23Speaker 2: that's educational when they are presented in exactly the same format,
- 31:27Speaker 2: Like how do I have a balanced conversation When anyone
- 31:31Speaker 2: with a phone can literally start becoming a financial influencer
- 31:36Speaker 2: just based on what they say and whether they've got
- 31:38Speaker 2: good rapport, how do we mitigate that and how do
- 31:41Speaker 2: we actually create a trusted space where you go, oh, no,
- 31:43Speaker 2: I follow Tony on Instagram. I know if she posts
- 31:46Speaker 2: something it's probably legit. It's all good. And I mean
- 31:48Speaker 2: we can all say take everything that you learn with
- 31:50Speaker 2: a grain of salt, and I would say that with
- 31:53Speaker 2: Shees on the Money as well. I'd never ever ever
- 31:55Speaker 2: want someone to listen to a She's on the Money
- 31:56Speaker 2: podcast and go and make a financial decision like that
- 31:59Speaker 2: is actually just really wildly irresponsible, Like you shouldn't do
- 32:02Speaker 2: that to yourself. You shouldn't limit your research to only
- 32:05Speaker 2: one place. But like on TikTok, there are heaps of
- 32:09Speaker 2: people talking about this, It's a whole trending hashtag, like
- 32:12Speaker 2: you know, it might be Tony talking about it than
- 32:14Speaker 2: just talking about then Victoria talking about it, and you
- 32:16Speaker 2: kind of just start to feel like it's real and
- 32:18Speaker 2: it's legit, and you're like, there are so many people
- 32:20Speaker 2: on board, and that then leans into the behavioral side
- 32:23Speaker 2: of money and you go herd mentality, I'm missing out
- 32:26Speaker 2: on something that they're in on and I'm not. I
- 32:28Speaker 2: feel like I'm missing out, And you get on board
- 32:31Speaker 2: of something that maybe you're not that comfortable with yet.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Because you just don't want to miss out, you know, yeah,
- 32:36Speaker 2: the phomo of it, and that's really real. But yeah,
- 32:40Speaker 2: I just wonder, And I guess that's conversation that I
- 32:42Speaker 2: would love to open up in the future and have
- 32:44Speaker 2: more honest, open conversations about what do we do in
- 32:48Speaker 2: this situation, how do we keep each other safe online
- 32:51Speaker 2: and how do we make sure that the content we
- 32:54Speaker 2: are consuming is really legitimate? And I guess that's why
- 32:58Speaker 2: I try really hard to lean towards government websites so
- 33:01Speaker 2: that you always know that you're in the right place
- 33:03Speaker 2: and that you are safe. Like I don't want it
- 33:05Speaker 2: to just be She's on the Money as the home
- 33:07Speaker 2: for the information that you have, And that's why we
- 33:09Speaker 2: always promote go listen to all these other podcasts. These
- 33:12Speaker 2: are the ones that we know are good, Like we
- 33:14Speaker 2: know my Millennial Money and Equity mates are putting you
- 33:16Speaker 2: in the best possible position and they're trying really hard
- 33:19Speaker 2: to give you very balanced information, whereas I know that
- 33:23Speaker 2: there are other things out there that go, oh, like,
- 33:25Speaker 2: I'm not super comfortable with that because it's just not
- 33:28Speaker 2: putting you in the best possible position. And I mean
- 33:30Speaker 2: it's the same with financial influencers, Like there are some
- 33:33Speaker 2: that I doore, like Queenie. She doesn't know why I'm
- 33:35Speaker 2: obsessed with her, but I am. She does such great
- 33:37Speaker 2: content Broke Generation, so Emma, we've had her on the podcast.
- 33:41Speaker 2: These people aren't financial advisors, but their content is so good,
- 33:45Speaker 2: so wholesome and so realistic. But then there are all
- 33:49Speaker 2: the bad eggs that give everybody else a bad name
- 33:52Speaker 2: as well, which is just really disappointing.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Well, I guess it's like with anything, like use your gut,
- 33:57Speaker 3: try and research as much as you can, don't just
- 33:59Speaker 3: go to one point for any information. And if you
- 34:03Speaker 3: are after financial advice, engage with a financial advisor.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Absolutely, And I think to round all of that out,
- 34:09Speaker 2: if it sounds too good to be true, then it
- 34:12Speaker 2: probably is. And always always, always know that our dms
- 34:15Speaker 2: are open if you have any questions or you're worried
- 34:18Speaker 2: about anything, we are in there, like we love the goss,
- 34:21Speaker 2: like we want to research this stuff and share it
- 34:24Speaker 2: with our community. So if there is something that you're
- 34:26Speaker 2: worried about or not sure about, we will obviously try
- 34:29Speaker 2: really hard to give you a response on like hey, yeah,
- 34:32Speaker 2: probably be wary or here's some more informational. Talk to
- 34:35Speaker 2: ASIK or talk to the ATO or this is your
- 34:37Speaker 2: next steps. We obviously won't provide you with financial advice,
- 34:40Speaker 2: but we're a group of good friends doing good things.
- 34:43Speaker 2: I think Tony for sure. All right, guys, you can
- 34:45Speaker 2: stand up again. I know I said sit down. That
- 34:48Speaker 2: was probably a really lengthy couple of rants from me,
- 34:51Speaker 2: but I think it was really important. But as always,
- 34:54Speaker 2: I do think that is all we have time for today.
- 34:56Speaker 2: So just before we head off, we'd like to acknowledge
- 34:58Speaker 2: and pay respect to us Australia's aboriginal and tourist right
- 35:01Speaker 2: islander peoples. They're the traditional custodians of the lands, the
- 35:05Speaker 2: waterways and the skies all across Australia. We thank you
- 35:09Speaker 2: for sharing and for caring for the land on which
- 35:11Speaker 2: we are able to learn. We pay our respects to
- 35:14Speaker 2: elders past and present, and we share our friendship and
- 35:17Speaker 2: our kindness.
- 35:18Speaker 3: The advice shared on She's on the Money is generally
- 35:21Speaker 3: nature and does not consider your individual circumstances. She's on
- 35:25Speaker 3: the Money exists purely for educational purposes and should not
- 35:28Speaker 3: be relied upon to make an investment or any financial decision,
- 35:32Speaker 3: And We promise that Victoria Divine is an authorized representative
- 35:35Speaker 3: of Australia Pacific Funds Management for prior to limited ABM
- 35:39Speaker 3: three four one three two four six three two five
- 35:41Speaker 3: seven AFSL three three nine one five one.
- 35:44Speaker 2: See you next week, guys,
