- 0:00Audio Only - All Participants: Hello, hello, and welcome to Kathie's Coaching Podcast.
- 0:04Audio Only - All Participants: Today, we're going to talk about the 12 Days of Burnout Breakthrough.
- 0:10Audio Only - All Participants: And today is day number one.
- 0:12Audio Only - All Participants: Why did I decide to do this?
- 0:14Audio Only - All Participants: I realized I was burnt out.
- 0:17Audio Only - All Participants: After I had been doing a job that I absolutely loved, but actually got validated that I was burned out after I left this company.
- 0:31Audio Only - All Participants: Because what happened was, I was doing exactly what I love, but I wasn't getting rewarded.
- 0:38Audio Only - All Participants: And how did I find that out?
- 0:40Audio Only - All Participants: Just like you're finding out today, there's different signs of burnout and let's define burnout first of all.
- 0:50Audio Only - All Participants: Burnout is more than just feeling tired.
- 0:54Audio Only - All Participants: It is a state Of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion due to prolonged stress.
- 1:04Audio Only - All Participants: And over the next 12 days or 12 episodes here on Kathie's Coaching Podcast and on my YouTube channel, we're going to talk about burnout.
- 1:15Audio Only - All Participants: But burnout can be so many different things as you're going to find out.
- 1:19Audio Only - All Participants: And And it's kind of hard to identify, but if you found this video and you're watching today, I want you to sit back and relax and listen and understand that there's many different signs of burnout.
- 1:34Audio Only - All Participants: But it's physical, it's mental, it's emotional exhaustion due to prolonged stress.
- 1:42Audio Only - All Participants: So for me, I was in a workplace that was actually toxic and I was trying to work against that.
- 1:52Audio Only - All Participants: That is not in flow.
- 1:54Audio Only - All Participants: It was actually a flow restrictor.
- 1:56Audio Only - All Participants: It was stopping me from accomplishing my goals.
- 2:00Audio Only - All Participants: And it caused me major anxiety.
- 2:03Audio Only - All Participants: I was being bullied by my manager and it was being enabled by the higher ups.
- 2:11Audio Only - All Participants: and the departments inside the company.
- 2:13Audio Only - All Participants: And so, I thought I was doing a good thing.
- 2:17Audio Only - All Participants: I was going above and beyond, doing more than just my job, which they call me just a fitness instructor, but I'm a corporate wellness consultant and coach.
- 2:29Audio Only - All Participants: I teach people how to do a corporate wellness program.
- 2:32Audio Only - All Participants: And I am really good at what I do, but they didn't want that.
- 2:37Audio Only - All Participants: So it was almost like I was working with a bad customer, but I was in the trenches with the employees and saw what was going on inside the company.
- 2:46Audio Only - All Participants: There was burnout because there was no structure in their training and development.
- 2:54Audio Only - All Participants: What do I mean by this?
- 2:56Audio Only - All Participants: They put people in leadership positions and just let them sit there for years and years and years and that titled them as a great leader, when in fact they were not.
- 3:10Audio Only - All Participants: Or they would put somebody in a leadership position and not even train them and expect them to understand.
- 3:17Audio Only - All Participants: Both of those people would experience burnout because there was no development inside the company.
- 3:25Audio Only - All Participants: That's just one piece of the puzzle that I teach as a corporate wellness professional.
- 3:31Audio Only - All Participants: Because there's also physical burnout.
- 3:33Audio Only - All Participants: We need exercise.
- 3:35Audio Only - All Participants: That is probably my forte because I've been a personal trainer since 2002.
- 3:41Audio Only - All Participants: I understand fitness.
- 3:42Audio Only - All Participants: I understand how it works in the body and how it helps.
- 3:46Audio Only - All Participants: And during these next lessons, you're going to hear other experts, not just me, talking about the different aspects of physical health that attribute or help prevent and treat burnout.
- 4:02Audio Only - All Participants: Then we have the mental and the emotional state.
- 4:07Audio Only - All Participants: And mental health is super important to discuss in the workplace.
- 4:11Audio Only - All Participants: We want to understand how people are doing.
- 4:13Audio Only - All Participants: We don't want to tell them how to do things.
- 4:16Audio Only - All Participants: We want to help them and better them.
- 4:19Audio Only - All Participants: That's where the leadership development comes in.
- 4:22Audio Only - All Participants: And I'm going to be interviewing an expert leadership coach and he's going to give you some ways that leaders actually get burned out and this affects the entire team.
- 4:35Audio Only - All Participants: What happens is there's a ripple effect and that ripple effect can either be positive or negative.
- 4:41Audio Only - All Participants: It depends on how you're doing this inside the company, how you're viewing mental health.
- 4:47Audio Only - All Participants: Not talking about it or stuffing it under the table and expecting different results is not going to work.
- 4:55Audio Only - All Participants: Dealing with the emotions is also important when it comes to burnout.
- 5:01Audio Only - All Participants: Emotional intelligence is is imperative to just talk about, keep it an open conversation, because when somebody's not emotionally intelligent, they're going to bully others.
- 5:14Audio Only - All Participants: They're going to disrespect others because they don't understand what's going on.
- 5:19Audio Only - All Participants: In my case, I'm I was being bullied for trying to better the workplace.
- 5:24Audio Only - All Participants: They didn't want that.
- 5:25Audio Only - All Participants: That I was challenging the status quo.
- 5:28Audio Only - All Participants: They wanted to stay that way.
- 5:30Audio Only - All Participants: And that's an old way of thinking.
- 5:33Audio Only - All Participants: In fact, assessments is the best way to understand the temperature of your team.
- 5:40Audio Only - All Participants: And I was trying to get them to do assessments of the team to understand where they were feeling.
- 5:48Audio Only - All Participants: Physical.
- 5:50Audio Only - All Participants: Mental, emotional, burnout.
- 5:53Audio Only - All Participants: Because when you understand those, you can start to work on them.
- 5:57Audio Only - All Participants: Instead of putting a band aid on a bleeding, injury, which will never work because it will never heal.
- 6:04Audio Only - All Participants: It'll just keep bleeding until you bleed to death.
- 6:07Audio Only - All Participants: And we don't want to do that.
- 6:09Audio Only - All Participants: We want to fix it.
- 6:11Audio Only - All Participants: At least start.
- 6:12Audio Only - All Participants: Start slow, start easy, and make it.
- 6:17Audio Only - All Participants: So on these next 12 days, the 12 days of holidays, starting December 1st through December 12th, it's not a Christmas thing.
- 6:25Audio Only - All Participants: It's an everyday thing.
- 6:27Audio Only - All Participants: So depending on when you watch this, it doesn't matter.
- 6:30Audio Only - All Participants: There's 12 different episodes.
- 6:33Audio Only - All Participants: on burnout with different experts coming in to speak to you about how they help prevent burnout.
- 6:40Audio Only - All Participants: These experts work inside my corporate wellness programs to, we're like a little mastermind of people and we help build healthy, happy teams and we help prevent a toxic workplace culture because now I'm actually on a mission to prevent toxic workplace culture through holistic wellness programs.

- 7:41Audio Only - All Participants: I was doing exactly what I love.
- 7:43Audio Only - All Participants: I was coaching people, I was helping people who wanted the help.
- 7:48Audio Only - All Participants: There were those that didn't, and that's fine, but that's going to happen inside any company.
- 7:54Audio Only - All Participants: But when you start to Build a healthy culture inside your your company.
- 8:00Audio Only - All Participants: You're going to attract top talent.
