- 0:00Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And in today's episode of The
- 0:43Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a weight loss
- 0:46hypnosis session that was created for a client was
- 0:50actually making fantastic progress and had already lost
- 0:53about 10 lbs and wanted to continue that.
- 0:58And this is really a strategy of increasing the probability of
- 1:04getting to certain outcomes through a combination of
- 1:10patience, consistency, and incremental progress.
- 1:15And the reason that fad diets are so popular is because a lot
- 1:20of people have this idea that it has to happen quickly or it's
- 1:24not worth doing as a binary way of framing it.
- 1:27But actually weight loss is a biological adaptation in the
- 1:32body, a state where to gain body fat, your body needs to be in a
- 1:37calorie surplus and have excess glycogen or excess carbs that
- 1:44triggers more insulin to store fat.
- 1:47How your body loses fat is the inverse of that, a process
- 1:51called ketogenics or ketosis. Now the client that I was
- 1:56working with was already making incredible progress going down
- 2:00from 2 meals a day, from three meals to two meals a day,
- 2:04reducing portion size and having lots of paleo types of food.
- 2:09And that's things like let's say meat and and good quality
- 2:14vegetables, fibrous foods. So they're making great
- 2:17progress, but if you just keep doing what you're doing, it can
- 2:21feel boring and monotonous. So increasing difficulty or
- 2:26challenge actually is useful because then it engages
- 2:31stimulation and the sense of dopamine when you do
- 2:35increasingly difficult things. And that might be walking a bit
- 2:38more, it might be lifting a slightly heavier weight,
- 2:41drinking more water or missing a meal every now and then and
- 2:44activating more of the fasting benefits.
- 2:47So all of this is included in this.
- 2:49They also had a particular goal of a future event where they
- 2:54wanted to be a lot slimmer, but this is further off in the
- 2:58future. And in my experience, you need a
- 3:00compelling vision of the future that's further away, that
- 3:04becomes the North Star, but you also need very achievable
- 3:08stepping stones on the journey to that destination to make it
- 3:11achievable and always within reach.
- 3:14So you've got elements of that in here as well.
- 3:18It was created for an individual client.
- 3:20Some of the references and suggestions would be very
- 3:24relevant for the client that I was working with, maybe not so
- 3:27relevant for you. So if you do like the idea of a
- 3:30bespoke customized session, there will be a link in the show
- 3:33notes where you can schedule a completely free consultation
- 3:36call on Zoom and we can explore working together, you know, at
- 3:41some point in the future. For now though, you might get
- 3:43some benefit from this session. So find a quiet, comfortable
- 3:46place, ideally in a place where you're not going to be
- 3:48disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 4:35Take a deep breath in and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 4:43feeling of relaxation. And as you exhale, just allow
- 4:48your eyelids to close. And as I close, start to
- 5:00calibrate with a feeling of increased relaxation.
- 5:07Feel your body becoming more relaxed with every inward breath
- 5:15and as you exhale, that's it. Give yourself permission to
- 5:22release not just tension, but any feelings of stress or worry.
- 5:32Allow yourself to let go of any feelings of shame, any feelings
- 5:41of stress and pressure. All of those ideas that you
- 5:46should do, must do, and have to allow them all to melt away and
- 5:57notice how good it feels for those feelings of expectations
- 6:13to be swamped. And I'd like you to swap those
- 6:20expectations for intentions. When you intend for something to
- 6:28happen, you can increase feelings of gratitude when they
- 6:33do. The deeper you breathe, the more
- 6:40relaxed you become. And the more relaxed you become,
- 6:45the deeper you breathe. And as your body relaxes, your
- 6:55imagination awakens, and I want you to imagine you've awoken in
- 7:07a place that isn't your home, a warmer climate.
- 7:15I want you to imagine having an early morning walk before
- 7:20breakfast. Maybe others are sleeping, but
- 7:26this is your time to connect with yourself.
- 7:32As you breathe in that relaxation and exhale that
- 7:35tension, I want you to imagine taking a walk when you can see
- 7:44the sea. You can see those golden sands
- 7:51and maybe you're walking on a path, or maybe you're walking on
- 7:55the sand. Maybe you're walking in the
- 7:59shallow waters, feeling the sensation of water on your feet.
- 8:10I want you to feel how good it feels, to feel that your body is
- 8:16moving, while calibration is taking place between the logical
- 8:24part of your mind and the emotional part of your body.
- 8:32And there's been times in the past where they've been in
- 8:34conflict. Your mind, your logic was taking
- 8:39you in One Direction and your emotions were taking you in
- 8:44another. A tug of war was taking place.
- 8:51But I want you to imagine why you're walking close to the sea,
- 8:57that your emotions and your logical intentions are moving in
- 9:05exactly the same direction as you breathe in and breathe out.
- 9:14I want you to get a sense of how useful it is to have a broad
- 9:21direction further in the future while simultaneously having
- 9:26something just ever so slightly beyond reach.
- 9:34As you imagine walking close to the sea, I want you to imagine
- 9:43imagine seeing a tree close to the beach.
- 9:48Maybe a palm tree or maybe a different type of tree.
- 9:53And imagine that there was a time when that tree wasn't
- 9:55there, but there had to be a time when that tree was just a
- 10:00seed. And I want you to imagine you
- 10:04are planting a seed of an idea deep down in your subconscious
- 10:10mind, an idea of something happening in the future, an idea
- 10:19of wouldn't it be lovely for you to be a certain clothing size.
- 10:28And I want you to take yourself forwards in time as an observer.
- 10:35See yourself perhaps maybe six months from now, maybe longer,
- 10:44maybe shorter, where you see yourself experiencing a
- 10:53possibility like it's happening. Imagine you're watching yourself
- 11:01like a stranger would, seeing you beaming with confidence,
- 11:09seeing you wearing clothing in a particular shape that would only
- 11:15be possible if it was a particular size.
- 11:22And I want you to get a sense that this is, of course,
- 11:26possible. I want you to get a sense that
- 11:31it could even be probable. It doesn't have to happen.
- 11:39No shoulds, no musts. You would just like it to happen
- 11:48if you could imagine seeing that future version of you at a
- 11:53particular place in time, maybe on a specific date with your
- 12:02body in a particular shape, wearing a particular type of
- 12:08clothing that is desirable for you.
- 12:12Just let me know by nodding your head.
- 12:17Just because you plant a seed doesn't guarantee it turns into
- 12:23the tree. But what's also true is that if
- 12:28the seed is not planted, the tree definitely can't grow.
- 12:33I want you to imagine a large seed.
- 12:40Imagine planting it deep in your subconscious mind.
- 12:46And this seed is your intention. The intention that in the future
- 12:53this thing that you want will increase its probability
- 13:00proportionate to incremental progress.
- 13:07Not perfection, not unrealistic rules and standards, Just
- 13:17incremental progress. And I want you to imagine
- 13:25thinking about the tiny ways in which you can make incremental
- 13:31progress. Maybe something as simple as
- 13:38every now and then having an extra glass of water, giving
- 13:45your body hydration, helping your metabolism to be efficient,
- 13:56or maybe incremental progress. Looks like every now and then on
- 14:03those days that you have two meals, just choosing to have
- 14:08one, missing a single meal. Challenging, but not impossible,
- 14:20because there were times when you had at least three meals a
- 14:24day plus snacks, and now you have to.
- 14:31How you're living right now is evidence that progress is not
- 14:35just possible, it's actually what you're doing.
- 14:45And therefore, if every now and then you simply missed a meal,
- 14:52that's not through sacrifice and restrictions, it's simply
- 14:59training your body to go without food for slightly longer.
- 15:07Consider it a game of trace with your body that if every now and
- 15:13then you miss one meal, your body has to get better at
- 15:21turning body fat into a source of energy and giving you access
- 15:27to that energy even when you don't eat food.
- 15:34You're training your body to be even more efficient at turning
- 15:40body fat into fuel, and every time you do that, your stomach
- 15:46shrinks just a little bit more, reducing your appetite, which
- 15:53represents even more progress. I want you to get a sense that
- 15:59there are infinite ways to make tiny incremental progress
- 16:09lifting slightly heavier weights in the gym.
- 16:18Having the occasional day each week where you do more than
- 16:2510,000 steps on a day that normally you wouldn't.
- 16:36I want you to imagine what it would be like to zoom out on
- 16:41your own life from the present moment to that key event where
- 16:49you intended yourself to be slimmer.
- 16:55I want to zoom out and see a timeline of where you are now to
- 17:00where you could be then, and think of all the tiny ways that
- 17:06you can make slight incremental improvements that would increase
- 17:13the probability of getting to that very destination.
- 17:24And maybe one of those ways in which the game isn't just
- 17:28winnable but enjoyable is to sell those old clothes that
- 17:35don't fit you anymore. And imagine buying a really
- 17:42desirable item of clothing that is just a single size below your
- 17:53current size. Imagine it being desirable,
- 18:00appealable, possible, and start to feel how motivating that
- 18:08would be to not just have the item of clothing, but an
- 18:13intention of what to do with that.
- 18:18And maybe one day, not too long in the future, that item of
- 18:24clothing is the very item of clothing you end up wearing at
- 18:29an event that's important to you.
- 18:37Sometimes people trying to leap across a river in one jump and
- 18:46instead end up falling in the water.
- 18:51What if you get to where you want to get to by just skipping
- 18:57across the stepping stones? Each one very easy to get to and
- 19:08it doesn't matter if there are three or four or five stepping
- 19:13stones or even 10. Each stepping stone is a step
- 19:18closer to where you desire to be.
- 19:28I want you to imagine what it would be like to take a holiday,
- 19:34and I want you to observe how you would want to eat and move
- 19:40on that holiday. Every house has foundations
- 19:46before the walls can be built. And what if you prime your mind
- 19:52as to how you want it to be, to lay the foundations to make it
- 19:59possible that it is that way? See what kind of food you would
- 20:05have for breakfast. See yourself relaxing in the
- 20:11sunshine, perhaps with no desire to eat lunch.
- 20:17Maybe see yourself having a delicious evening meal.
- 20:23These are all just intentions, but when you intend something,
- 20:28you increase the probability of that very thing occurring.
- 20:37But more importantly, I want you to see yourself feeling in
- 20:43control, building There's nothing that you have to do,
- 20:49nothing you should do, just all the things that you could do.
- 20:56And it makes you happier to make choices that align with taking
- 21:01your life in the very direction you desire to see yourself with
- 21:08that energy. Looking relaxed when choosing
- 21:12food, having the option to have foods high in sugar or carbs and
- 21:23deciding not to, that the more pleasurable thing that brings
- 21:28you more joy is to do the things that keeps you moving in the
- 21:33very direction that you desire. And if you could imagine that
- 21:39happening, seeing yourself as you would want to be.
- 21:43Just let me know about nodding your head and then feel that
- 21:49you've already laid the foundations.
- 21:54Sometimes it takes longer to lay the foundations than it does to
- 21:59build the house. But you've already laid the
- 22:03foundations. Now you get to build on what's
- 22:08already been done. And the last few weeks have
- 22:14created momentum, A trajectory. And it's easier to continue the
- 22:21trajectory than it is to change it.
- 22:26I want you to feel that you are unlocking all of the resources
- 22:31to help you continue to make more and more progress, to take
- 22:37you to that place of more feelings of pride and
- 22:41confidence. I want you to imagine sharing a
- 22:48significant milestone, maybe a certain weight or how much
- 22:52you've lost with key people and imagine their responses.
- 23:00Maybe they're happy for you. Maybe they're curious.
- 23:05You can already anticipate what those responses would be, but
- 23:13notice how it makes you feel to go from a place to feeling
- 23:18stuck. It's not feeling like you're
- 23:21making steady consistent progress, and if you feel good
- 23:31that you're moving in the right direction, the future intentions
- 23:42just naturally taking you in that direction and you are
- 23:48unlocking even more of the resources to make it true.
- 23:53Feel a wonderful sense that you are creating self fulfilling
- 23:59prophecies, knowing what you want but making it a nice
- 24:11surprise, a lovely thing to do, increases your ability to get to
- 24:21the destination while enjoying the journey.
- 24:27And then feel like your morning walk is coming to an end.
- 24:32That during this walk you've had a journey in your imagination.
- 24:39A journey of thoughts within thoughts, ideas within ideas,
- 24:44and dreams within dreams. There's now time to return to
- 24:48the present, but you return feeling an increased desire to
- 24:56make slow and steady progress, to build on what you've already
- 25:01achieved, and to keep it moving in that very same direction.
- 25:08So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 25:13nose. Wiggle your fingers and wiggle
- 25:16your toes. Start to connect and calibrate
- 25:18into the here and now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to
- 25:23awaken you. Starting to count 123 waking up
- 25:29456 more alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 25:33Open your eyes 910. Wide awake, wide awake, wide
- 25:39awake. Thank you for listening to The
