Latest / Unlocking The Paradigm Portal / Be Real, Not Nice: You've Been Calling It Love
Transcript
- 0:00Good morning, everybody. Welcome back to unlocking the
- 0:03Paradigm portal. My name is Sarah.
- 0:06So you may notice that I'm a little bit quieter this morning
- 0:10and that is. Because if you.
- 0:12Recall last week. We've been talking.
- 0:14About the one stone actually for the last two weeks and what is
- 0:19the one stone that you are going to lay in the foundation of
- 0:22becoming who you want to be? Well, mine for today is that I
- 0:27normally record. These.
- 0:29In the evening, like right before.
- 0:30I go to bed so that it. Is all loaded and ready to go
- 0:33for 6:00 AM. But I decided.
- 0:36No, I want to get. Up earlier so.
- 0:38I have gotten up at. 5. O'clock this morning to be my
- 0:42one stone for today and record. So this is.
- 0:46Literally the first time I am speaking this morning and
- 0:51without. Further ado this week.
- 0:53Taking off from yesterday's Sunday deep dive.
- 0:56We. Are going to.
- 0:57Talk about love. And the feeling in your body
- 1:02when you meet them, that person, that pull, that recognition,
- 1:08that sense of finally this one. I know this one.
- 1:14And you call it chemistry and you call it connection, and you
- 1:18called it knowing. I just know in my gut.
- 1:22And some of you may have called it love.
- 1:24I know I certainly have in the past, and I need you to sit with
- 1:28a different possibility today. What if that feeling wasn't
- 1:34recognition? Of the right.
- 1:35Person. What if it was recognition of a
- 1:39familiar wound and this is how it ties?
- 1:42Into yesterday's episode. If you listen to that one, I
- 1:46spent the. Last week.
- 1:47Mapping out not only relationships, which yes, we
- 1:50know I've done in the. Past but the.
- 1:52Threads tying between all of them, like the singular thread
- 1:56tying there. And then I mapped out my
- 1:59relationships with my children and the thread tying between
- 2:02there of the lessons that they have been highlighting for me.
- 2:06And then I mapped out generational patterns, both
- 2:09sides of my family and the thread that passed down through
- 2:13the line. And then I connected.
- 2:14The dots with all three of those.
- 2:16Strings which is. Why it's?
- 2:17Called 3 balloons or three strings.
- 2:19I can't remember which one one hand because it all came down to
- 2:23what is the 1 underlying wound and that often that recognition
- 2:28of connection. Ties back to.
- 2:30That wound and that is the awareness.
- 2:33That I had this week, which is why we're.
- 2:36Talking about it and the wound. Disguises itself.
- 2:41And the nervous system, it doesn't distinguish between love
- 2:44and familiarity, it distinguishes between safe and
- 2:48unsafe. And it defines safe is.
- 2:50Whatever it. Already knows so that wounding.
- 2:53That is so. Deeply ingrained that anyone
- 2:57that presents aligned with that wounding is going to feel
- 3:01familiar. So the wound that a lot of my
- 3:04stuff came down to was the unworthy wound, and I can see it
- 3:08tying through everybody and that wound being so.
- 3:13Familiar is basically. What it means is if you grew up
- 3:16in an environment where love came with conditions, and now
- 3:19let me make sure. To clarify this.
- 3:22With. Everything I talk.
- 3:23About there is 0. Judgment so if you're listening
- 3:25to this and you're getting all. Judgy about past.
- 3:27Situations or. People or childhood stop please,
- 3:31this is just. Observing the situation and the.
- 3:34Facts So. When I say an environment where
- 3:38love may have come with conditions, it often is not.
- 3:42Obvious or overt? Or intentional.
- 3:45And then there are times. Where it was so you.
- 3:48Have to use your own discernment theme for 2026.
- 3:53But anyway. So if you grew up in an
- 3:55environment where love came with conditions or where your worth
- 3:58was contingent, excuse me, contingent.
- 4:02Like where you? Had to earn your place by being
- 4:05useful enough to keep or to have a round.
- 4:09Or where? Affection maybe arrived
- 4:11inconsistently and you learn to work for it.
- 4:15Then your nervous system learn to call that love, not because
- 4:18it was. Love but.
- 4:19Because it was familiar. And then you went out into the
- 4:22world and you kept choosing it. You keep choosing it.
- 4:26Different faces, different dynamics, different stories,
- 4:30same frequency underneath. So if you have let's say like I
- 4:35have always had. And I've worked my ass off on it
- 4:38and can see it now. An unworthy wound.
- 4:41Then you will be drawn to people in situations that resonate with
- 4:45that same frequency, and you don't realize it until you
- 4:49suddenly realize it or you do an intensive, basically shamanic
- 4:54soul. Retrieval deep dive.
- 4:56For months, so maybe the frequency.
- 5:01Is the. Person who needs rescuing you
- 5:05learn that you're. Worth or your?
- 5:07Wound is tied to saving people. So you're drawn to those.
- 5:11People or the. Person who?
- 5:13Saw you. As the lifeline.
- 5:16Maybe you have? You learned how.
- 5:18That your worth. Is like being the hero.
- 5:21Or the person whose chaos felt electric because.
- 5:25Calm. Felt suspicious that.
- 5:27Was my jam for a long time. Calm and peace.
- 5:31Felt like. Something was wrong, something
- 5:33was going to go very wrong, and anyone.
- 5:36Who felt chaotic? That was wonderful.
- 5:39That is no longer a theme. For me, and that is because calm
- 5:44was unfamiliar. And even if you want it, even if
- 5:48you're striving for it. Even.
- 5:49If you openly. State I want peace and
- 5:51stability. If it is not your familiar
- 5:54comfort zone, you can want it. It can feel good and then it
- 5:58suddenly starts to register in your nervous system is unsafe
- 6:01and dangerous. Or maybe it was the one whose
- 6:06wound fit. Yours so precisely that it fit.
- 6:09That fit felt like. Destiny, like your wounding,
- 6:13called to the wounding in them and vice versa and it feels
- 6:17magical but it's a trauma bond and wound recognition.
- 6:22Feels exactly like. Soul recognition.
- 6:25And that is not a flaw in you. That is how the wound protects.
- 6:29Itself. By disguising itself as the
- 6:31thing you're looking for and it feels like magic and you stay
- 6:37and you. Carry all the weight.
- 6:40And you make yourself indispensable and you love
- 6:43harder when the love didn't come back at the same volume because
- 6:47some part. Of you believed that if you
- 6:49could just. Love them enough, or be patient
- 6:52enough, or understanding enough, or present enough or give them
- 6:56enough, they would finally confirm what you needed to know
- 7:00about your own worth. But here's the thing.
- 7:03They couldn't. And they can't.
- 7:06And it's not because they don't care, because a person cannot.
- 7:10Heal your wound. By receiving your.
- 7:13Love that. Is not how wounds work.
- 7:15That is how. That is not.
- 7:17How worth works? You cannot outsource the answer
- 7:21to the question the wound is asking.
- 7:24It just doesn't work and the wound is always asking the same
- 7:29question. And I'm going to grab a sip of
- 7:31my coffee. Before I tell you just.
- 7:33For a little bonus suspense, I was smart enough to make coffee
- 7:38before getting on here. So the question that the wound
- 7:42is asking am I enough? Just as I am without the caring,
- 7:47without all the things I can offer, without the nurturing I
- 7:52can give, without the performing, without making
- 7:56myself useful enough to justify my presence.
- 8:01That is the question and I want to get specific.
- 8:05Because this is where a lot of people.
- 8:07Will just nod along and then immediately exempt themselves
- 8:10from this situation they think they know.
- 8:14What this looks like that? And they picture the dramatic
- 8:18relationships, the ones with. The obvious red.
- 8:20Flags the ones they can point to and say.
- 8:23Yes, that was. Clearly dysfunction, but rein it
- 8:28in and hold. Up your.
- 8:30Self-righteous indignation, I guarantee since no one is born.
- 8:35I had a therapist once who would say to me, wouldn't it be great
- 8:39if everyone was born? Self actualized, yes.
- 8:42No one is so at some point, if not still to this day and.
- 8:48I would be, I would love. Actually, to hear from someone
- 8:51who to this day can say I've never had a wound recognition
- 8:56relationship, so wound recognition doesn't always look
- 9:01dramatic. So if you're one of those people
- 9:04saying that's not me, it doesn't always look dramatic.
- 9:07Sometimes it looks like finally feeling understood.
- 9:11Sometimes it looks like finally feeling seen and known, and
- 9:17sometimes it looks like someone. Who sees you?
- 9:21In a way that you've been waiting your whole life to be
- 9:24seen or who knows you. In a way, you've been waiting to
- 9:29feel known, and sometimes it looks like the most profound
- 9:35connection you've ever felt, the kind that makes.
- 9:37Every other. Relationship feel shallow by
- 9:40comparison, and sometimes it looks like a person who is
- 9:45genuinely good and genuinely kind and who loves you in ways
- 9:50you can see in name and who is still underneath all of that
- 9:54goodness running a wound that. Fits yours precisely.
- 9:59And whose presence keeps confirming the question rather
- 10:02than answering it. And the most dangerous version
- 10:06of wound recognition is the one that looks like the real thing,
- 10:10the one that hits every note. Checks every box.
- 10:14Feels like the answer you've been waiting for.
- 10:16Like the one that keeps you the longest because it's the hardest
- 10:19to name when everything about. It feels true.
- 10:23And here's how you know the difference in practice.
- 10:26Soul recognition expands you wound recognition contracts.
- 10:31You slowly over. Time and in ways that you
- 10:35rationalize because that contraction might feel like
- 10:37growth. But soul.
- 10:39Recognition that makes you more. Yourself that.
- 10:44Means it's that feeling of I can just exhale and I can be me.
- 10:51And wound recognition makes you more useful.
- 10:54It makes you feel like. You have a purpose.
- 10:57And soul recognition asks nothing of you.
- 11:00It doesn't want you to stay small.
- 11:02Wound recognition requires that you stay small.
- 11:06It's being able to identify. Those hard edges, that box.
- 11:11But the soul. Recognition is freedom and it
- 11:13feels like expansion and soul. Recognition leaves you feeling
- 11:17more real after the interaction, like you feel open and
- 11:22invigorated, but wound recognition leaves you working
- 11:26to. Figure out what.
- 11:27You did wrong. And that last one, just sit with
- 11:30it for a minute. How many times have you left an
- 11:33interaction with someone that you love and immediately begun
- 11:37auditing yourself? Like asking what did I say?
- 11:40How did I come across? Did I ask for too much?
- 11:42Was I too much? What did I do wrong?
- 11:47That audit is not love asking you to grow.
- 11:49That is the wound asking you to shrink, and love does not
- 11:53require you. To audit your.
- 11:55Existence after every interaction.
- 11:57That is not love, That is the wound running the relationship,
- 12:00while love takes the blame for what the wound cost you.
- 12:05So what does this mean? First of all, it doesn't mean
- 12:08you abandon everybody and you need to break up with people and
- 12:11end things. It's just having the awareness
- 12:14because this can be someone that you love and they are in your
- 12:16life for a reason to show you that wound and the wound is for
- 12:19you. To heal, that is the.
- 12:21Key not to heal it through them for you to heal it in yourself
- 12:25and I want to name something that most people skip over in
- 12:29this conversation because skipping it lets.
- 12:31You off the. Hook in a way.
- 12:32That actually keeps you very. Stuck.
- 12:35You kept choosing that wound recognition because it felt like
- 12:38home, and it felt like home because it was.
- 12:41But it's not the home you wanted.
- 12:43It's the home you knew, and the nervous system doesn't choose
- 12:46based on what's good for. You it.
- 12:48Chooses based on what it recognizes, and what it
- 12:51recognized as home from the very beginning was conditional love.
- 12:55Love that required. You to earn it, to perform it,
- 12:59to make yourself useful enough to justify it.
- 13:02Then unconditional love when it showed up probably felt wrong
- 13:06it. Probably felt, excuse me,
- 13:08suspicious. And specifically targeted.
- 13:13To have you fall. Prey to something because you
- 13:16weren't used to someone who just.
- 13:17Loved you for you. And it.
- 13:20Probably felt like it was. Hiding something, like maybe it
- 13:23wasn't giving you the familiar friction that your system had
- 13:26learned to call connection. The relationships that cost you
- 13:30the most, we're also the ones that felt the most like
- 13:33something. Because the wound doesn't run on
- 13:35nothing. It runs on intensity, on the
- 13:39push and the pull, on the cycle of earning and losing and
- 13:42earning again, and on the feeling of finally getting
- 13:45through to someone who keeps pulling away and who keeps
- 13:48denying you. What you believe is love that.
- 13:51Feeling is not love, it is the nervous system doing exactly
- 13:55what it was trained to do. And this is where the compassion
- 13:59comes in. And it's not to let yourself.
- 14:01Off the hook. Because understanding this
- 14:03accurately is the only thing that actually changes it.
- 14:06You didn't choose wrong because something is wrong with you.
- 14:10You chose what your nervous system was.
- 14:11Calibrated to. Recognize this connection and
- 14:14that calibration happened before you were old enough to question
- 14:17it, before you had any other reference point, before you knew
- 14:22there was a. Different way the body.
- 14:23Could feel when it was actually safe and the choosing.
- 14:27It wasn't stupidity, it wasn't weakness, it wasn't a character
- 14:30flaw. It was your nervous system doing
- 14:33exactly what nervous systems do, seeking the frequency it was
- 14:37built to call home. And the problem isn't that you
- 14:40love. The problem is that you called
- 14:42wound recognition love. Wound recognition is not love,
- 14:47but you. Felt that it.
- 14:48Was and you built your entire relational life on that
- 14:52foundation and now you know, which is the only thing that
- 14:57makes a next chapter different from the last one.
- 15:01So here's what it actually changes when you can understand
- 15:04this and really integrate it into your life.
- 15:06Not the feeling. The feeling doesn't disappear,
- 15:09that pull doesn't go silent. The recognition doesn't stop
- 15:12arriving. You will still feel the electric
- 15:15click of a. Familiar wound frequency and
- 15:18your nervous system will still. Register it as.
- 15:20Significant. But what changes is what you do
- 15:25in the space between feeling it and following it.
- 15:29Because. There is a.
- 15:30Space. Now, the space didn't always.
- 15:32Exist but. For most of your life, that move
- 15:36pulled you indirectly into action, and you felt it, and you
- 15:40move toward it without stopping, without thinking, because the
- 15:43recognition felt like instructions.
- 15:45It felt like you were handed a manual.
- 15:47This is my person. Like the?
- 15:49Body already knew and following it was just common sense.
- 15:54But the. Space is new and the space.
- 15:56Is the work. And when I say.
- 15:58The work, it's with a capital W it's like this work.
- 16:01It's no joke digging into these things and really looking at
- 16:04yourself clearly. So the next time you feel.
- 16:07That pull like. That electric recognition and
- 16:10that sense of I know you, you have a question to.
- 16:14Ask before you follow. It not to talk.
- 16:17Yourself out of. Every connection, but to be able
- 16:19to tell the difference between the ones that are real and the
- 16:22ones that are familiar. Is this soul recognition?
- 16:26Or is this my wound recognizing itself in someone else and
- 16:30calling it home? So remember, soul recognition
- 16:35expands. Wound recognition contracts.
- 16:39Soul recognition makes you more yourself.
- 16:42You can sink into it. Wound recognition makes you more
- 16:46useful. Soul recognition doesn't require
- 16:50you to be small and dim. That light that I always talk
- 16:55about. That light shines.
- 16:57Brighter with that. Soul recognition.
- 17:00Wound recognition depends upon you staying small, staying
- 17:05useful, and staying dim. And you don't have to answer
- 17:10perfectly. You don't have to get it right
- 17:12every time. You don't have to have the full
- 17:14answer before you take another step.
- 17:16You just. Have to.
- 17:17Ask the question. Because the.
- 17:19Asking that pause between the feeling and then following it's
- 17:24already something completely different from everything that
- 17:26came before. The choosing will change when
- 17:29the asking becomes automatic, and the asking becomes automatic
- 17:34when you. Practice it, and you practice it
- 17:35by. Starting today on your commute
- 17:39right now so you're stoned for today.
- 17:44Name one relationship, past or present.
- 17:46Where the pole felt like. Recognition and sit with this
- 17:49question honestly. Was that your soul?
- 17:53Or was that the wound? And you don't have to say it out
- 17:56loud, you don't have to tell anybody.
- 17:58You just have to be honest with yourself.
- 18:00And that honesty is the stone you carry into the weak.
- 18:04And again, this doesn't mean abandoning or leaving
- 18:08relationships, friendships, anything.
- 18:11These people. Are in our lives to shine a
- 18:14light on the wound for us to heal.
- 18:17You either do the healing work and then decide, or you don't.
- 18:21It's up. To you it's.
- 18:22Your life. So that was a big one for a
- 18:26Monday morning. I am.
- 18:27Still half awake. And I'm going to go drink my
- 18:31coffee. So have an amazing, amazing
- 18:34Monday. I will be back.
- 18:37Wednesday and Friday morning for the remainder of this week for
- 18:41be real Not nice, by the way. That's the title.
- 18:43For these early morning ones and then I'll be back.
- 18:46Tuesday, Thursday. Saturday.
- 18:47At 9:00 PM for Light in the Dark and Sunday's deep dives.
- 18:50So leave me some comments, Let me know what are you realizing?
- 18:54What's the wound that's popping up for you?
- 18:56I shared mine, you share yours. I've had the unworthy wound.
- 19:00It sucks but let me tell you, once you see it you can start
- 19:03changing it and then chick gets real OK?
- 19:06Have a great day.
