- 0:03SPEAKER_01: Hello.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: You've reached No Country for Hot Girls Podcast.
- 0:08SPEAKER_01: We can't come to the phone right now.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: Because we have better things we could do.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: How the fuck are you?
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Good.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: I'm great, actually.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Are you?
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: It's like all like the Neppo babies in New York.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Um, well actually they're not all from New York, they're from like all different types of real housewives, like Atlanta, New Jersey, all that stuff.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: But you were just saying that it gets like really, really crazy end of season two.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Well, first of all, first of all, I mean they have like some of them are like housewives kids, which is obviously like, you know.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: But some of the characters, so okay, so this guy called Liam, oh my god, we're doing it again.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Like it was like it's like the same thing was as the invite.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: It's just starting straight out the gate, basically just spoiling the whole film.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: But anyway, this this this TV show that's kind of like a supposed to be kind of like a spin-off on Bravo, like it's not really meant to be like one of their main shows, but it's so good.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: The drama is amazing.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Um I mean, it's quite a good idea, like yeah.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: Just like Neppo Baby.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: It's basically Neppo Babies in New York.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Um, but one of them, so this new guy who starts, who goes on it, is called Liam.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: I don't know what his name is, but his mum basically ran Nickelodeon, like the whole during the whole kind of like iconic era of like Josh and that why they something or other say he's a Nickelodeon kid.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because he must have oh yeah, he must have started.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, hilarious.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: So his mum must have cast him.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Yes, oh my god, okay.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Well, there you go.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: They left that out the first app.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, his mate, so he brings these two mates on the show.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: One of them is this girl, and she literally is like the most like I don't want to be mean, but like she she doesn't seem the most charismatic of people, let me put it that way.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: And this guy who transpires that he's the he's Spike Lee's son, which is I know crazy.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: I was like, what?
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: And then Brooke Shields' daughter is on it.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I saw that in like the upcoming on season two that she like comes in, and I was like, What?
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, I love it, I love it.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: The Nepos earning their um earning their bread and butter for once.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, drinking.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: It's quite funny because they kind of just like like the drama's like, I mean, I know the drama gets apparently gets good in season two, but at the moment it's kind of just like low level, but then they'll completely skim over like actual drama that's happening with their families.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Like that girl Ava Dash, like her dad's just like filed for bankruptcy and like got evicted.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: He got she got evicted from her apartment because he her dad and her split the rent, and she was like, I paid mine on time, but my dad didn't.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Yeah, so he was Damon Dash.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Not evicted because of your dad.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but also it's kind of crazy because that they even go into it.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: So he started Rockefeller Records with is it Jay-Z?
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Maybe anyway, and her mum is Rachel Roy, that like stunning, stunning stylist who everyone thought was Becky with the good hair.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, um I didn't that, okay.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, her mum is gorgeous, but anyway, yeah, drama, drama, drama.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: But they kind of skim over that big stuff, which is quite funny because I'm like that's actually crazy.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: But anyway, we can go into it another time when I finish the season.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Um record.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: So, what have you been up to?
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: Tell tell us everything.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: We've missed you another week of absence.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: I know, I know.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: I'm only gonna do two episodes a month now.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: I know, guys.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: We've got sad news.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: She's Hannah's fucking off, she's buggering off.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: I'm too busy.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: I don't know, I can't do it.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: She's too busy, apparently.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: God knows doing what, I don't know, but something anyway.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: So yeah, there'll be a few weeks when I won't be there.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, fine.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: I just had to go all the way to Hyde Park this morning.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Um I can't believe you did that.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: But like, just why?
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: Like, why?
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: Like he's already, do you know what I mean?
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: Like he's already self-flagellating with at least like three different exercises.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: Like, does he need another one?
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: Like, he's already doing cycling, running, hiking.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: He hates the swimming.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: Swimming's so why did he do it?
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Because he had to do he was training for it for this thing, and now he's like, I'm never doing swimming again.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: So I'm like But why was he training for this?
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: I don't know, you'd have to ask him.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: Anyway, I just don't understand.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: It's it's trignosticism.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Um yes, yes, or is it like that pond is not not clean?
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: It's a pond, serpentine, or whatever it is.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: What is it?
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: It's like a big pond, it's not like a lake, is it?
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: I don't know, I don't know.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: Could be a pond phone.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: What do you call it?
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: It's not a lake.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: I've never thought about it to be honest with you.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're right, it's probably a pond or a it's not a river, is it?
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: A pudding.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah, fine, fine.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: The pond.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Anyway, um, he said he swallowed loads of water, and I was like, that can't be good for you.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: Great.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: So now he's gonna be free.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: Okay, so I went up there, yeah, armed with cookies and sandwiches, and they gave they gave everyone like these little like warm ribena cups, not me, obviously.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: But I accidentally went into like so basically they come out of the water when they finish and like come down like a little walkway and then to go into the changing rooms.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: And as a viewer, you had to go like cross this little pathway that all the swimmers were coming up and then go around the back of the tents to like meet them at like the other end.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: And I didn't realise so I just like went into the actual runway of the swimmers, and like was standing there with like the woman help like um giving out like hot ribenas, and then the security guard came over and was like, What are you doing here?
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: Like, you're not allowed here, and I was like, Oh, I'm sorry, it's not like the fucking Olympics, please relax.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: Like, we're doing a fucking charity swim in a pond on the Saturday morning.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: But I did think it was like quite funny that I was just standing there with this, like all these hot ribenas, and I was like, Why is no one else here?
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: But also quite funny that I feel like all of these kind of activities that men on the whole do is basically just like one big excuse to kind of like get like a you know, there's like orange slices and a m and a penguin at the end.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well he got this like big old medal because anyway, yeah, he got medal.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: Because he was thrashing around at record speed.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: Welcome to him.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: So he did that, um, and I've been really I mean how since you since me and you were talking about Botox, I now like can't stop thinking about it.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: And I was thinking about it with my friend yesterday, and yeah, I just don't know.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Now I'm just like I don't know.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: Is it so so listeners?
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: Um big announcement PSA, but I um I tried Botox for the first time a couple of weeks ago.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: Um, and I cannot believe I didn't do it.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: So you know, fuck me, it's amazing.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: It's the dream.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: I literally, to be honest, I think it might have gone because look, actually, can I move?
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: I can kind of you want some movement, like you don't want to like but but but you're kind of meant to have a bit like that still give anyway.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: She said I had strong muscles.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: I have a feeling it's gonna last me about two weeks, which is really quite annoying.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: The only thing that scares me is that they say that like because you get it, like say you get it in your forehead or here or whatever, then all of these muscles are working a lot harder, so therefore, like you end up with lines like in other places.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Oh then you go, Oh shit, I need to like get Botox in those bits now.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, then and then it happens again in like other places probably just get it then, I suppose.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, now I'm looking at my eyes, I do feel like I'm noticing more lines, but I think that's just purely because it's the contrast, but that's do you know what I mean?
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but also probably because the muscles there are working harder because these are sort of like frozen.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: But to be honest, it's not like I wasn't doing this, like smiling with my eyes before this happened.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: Anyway, anyway, um it's like it's some kind of internal conflict where I'm like, do I just like hold off for as long as possible or do I just bite the bullet and do it, you know?
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: Well, the reason why I did it was because I was exactly the same as you.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: I was like, I don't really need it, like I didn't have like major wrinkles or lines really, but I started noticing I was frowning loads, like kind of that like bit of skin between your nose and your forehead.
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: And I could see that it was like starting to kind of create an indent, and I was just like, I just really don't want that to get worse.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: So I was like, fuck it, I'll just try it there.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: And then after straight afterwards, I was like, Why the hell have I not done this before?
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: I looked down.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: No, I mean when I saw you at yours and you got it like a couple weeks before, I was literally like, you look absolutely stunning.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: Like when I was to be honest, right now, like I can't really notice it.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: Like, I know I'm a bit shiny, but that's because I'm wearing quite a lot of makeup.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: You don't want to notice.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Also, I'm like, side note, quite funny that you're like, I was frowning so much, and we're like, okay, we'll just get Botox there instead of like stop frowning, figuring out where the source of the frowning is.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: I mean, let's be real, this is like 32 years worth of like fucking screwfacing, like it's not gonna end tonight.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: But anyway, I have to say, I'm an advocate.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: I'm an I'm a new advocate.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: I know I know you are.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: Yours literally was like, to be I'm like, you don't need it, but you need it.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: I did not.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: That was a lie.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: I did not I said you don't need it, but I would get it.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: Oh, maybe that's what you said.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: You said I meant it in you said it in a way like not like I need it for my face, but you were like, you need it, like we all need it.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, right, got you, got you.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: No, no, you don't need it, and I didn't need it, but now I've got it, I'm like, no regrets, you know?
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna, I don't want to like go down that rabbit hole of like looking really waxy and stuff.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: Like, I really, really don't want that.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: But for preventative, it's quite good.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: I just don't want that frown line getting worse.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh-huh.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: Also, um, side note, loved the pod last week.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: Shout out to Owen, you were great.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: Owen, absolute legendary.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Um, loved all the career advice and the wisdom, words of wisdom.
- 11:19unknown: I know.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh my god, you're so right.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: I can't remember what it was.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: It was like um your truth as your truth, and then other people's truth.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Is that true?
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: Yes, I know.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Well, quite classically, obviously, I was like so excited to have him, you know, he's so like amazing and charismatic, so funny and interesting.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: And then we recorded the whole thing, had like such a great chat, both of us were in such a good mood, and then obviously I checked the recording and my mic wasn't on, you know, and you're just like, Why?
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: Like what what what for you?
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: You couldn't you couldn't tell.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: It was completely fine.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: Okay, well that's all marked.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: Um I was also cracking up at that you started um started off the pod just basically by talking about how much you love the word cunt, and I was like, of course.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: Well, I think it's a good word, don't you think?
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: I know, you love that word.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: You literally love it.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: What do you mean I love it?
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: I swear you love it as well, don't you?
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: Less.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: Mind it.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: Okay, anyway, we don't need to rehash old ground.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, no.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: Um we've got a fucking shitload to cover today, so I think we should get cracking.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: Well, I went to go see the Oasis documentary last weekend.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah, tell me everything.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: So I but before we talk about it, let me just quickly caveat this by saying that we've spoken about this before, but this is Supersonic is basically one of our favourite documentaries of all time, if not my favourite.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: I think maybe it's my favourite actually.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: I think we rehashed it when we uh rehashed the worst day.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: The worst day of our lives.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we did.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: But but for those who haven't had that episode, me and Han go into more detail, so check that one out.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but we'll we'll figure out the episode and link it.
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: So the fact that they were bringing out essentially another one, I was kind of like, is there any need?
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: Like, what's the point?
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: Anyway, over to you.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, supersonic is me and Jules's favourite thing ever.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: We watch it whenever we feel basically like depressed or anything.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: Very often, any emotion, really.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, so I mean, I guess like maybe as well because I went to the reunion tour last year, I was like a bit more invested in it.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: Um, because I knew it was like about the reunion and not just about them as so it doesn't like retell the nighty story of how they got together and stuff, but it's about the 2025 reunion tour, um, and basically like the thawing of Liam and Noel's relationship.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Um but it was quite interesting, so it was created by Stephen Knight, who did Peaky Blinders, yeah.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: Which you can kind of get from like the filming a bit, and then it was directed by these guys who I hadn't heard of, but I was looking up their documentaries.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: I think maybe you saw one of them, but they're called Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, and they did um those music documentaries which I haven't seen, and I'm annoyed I haven't seen them, but one's called Meet Me in the Bathroom, which is about 2000 new yeah, yeah, New York music scene and the strokes and stuff, and then the other one is called Shut Up and Play the Hits, which is about LCD Sound System, which I haven't seen.
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: I haven't seen that either.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: Um, so I was like, if I'd known that before, I would have been like, Oh, cool, like they've obviously done like cool music documentaries, but it was really good, like it was filmed really well.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: Um my friend Phoebe's company actually did the edit on it, which was really cool.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: So cool.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: Um, and then I was like, maybe one of them went in to like go watch the edit, but she would have told me if Liam Gallagher went in, you know?
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: I mean, surely they would have been sent the edit.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but sometimes you like to go in and watch it.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: We transferred, yeah, true, true.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: Um, but basically it's like lots of unseen footage from the tour.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: Um, Liam and Neil like doing interviews and like their first Neil joint in you just called him Neil.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: Liam and Neil.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: God, they sound like Liam and Neil and Neil Gallagher.
- 15:34unknown: Yeah.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: Famously a big Oasis fan, Liam and Neil.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: Okay, so Liam Noel.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: Liam Noel, their first joint interview in over 20 years, which was in the film.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: Oh, and it was for the film.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay, and what's their like energy?
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: Like, what's their vibe towards each other?
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, it's not really a spoiler, but they I don't know, shall I say?
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Like was quite interesting.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Okay, so they kept on doing these like one-on-one interviews, so you would see Liam talking to camera, and then you would see Neil, no, Noel talking to camera.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: Um, like separately, and stuff like that.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: And then like kind of halfway through the film, the camera pans out, and they've been sat at like the same table like the whole time.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: They've been doing these like um like talking to camera.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: So they're actually just like been together the whole time, but they like cut them up like separately, um, which I thought was quite quite good.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Um, and it was just like really it was just really good.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: So, like obviously there was like loads of music like from the reunion tour, lots of them like talking about the fans, lots of them showing like fans, like you know, for a lot of fans they had these this sort of like almost a religious experience, like this band getting back together and all this kind of stuff.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: Um well, you know, and for some people it was.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: I mean, when I was that was like I've never seen so many white men cry at the same time.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: No, no, for sure, for sure.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, yeah, religious yeah, alright.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: Anyway, go on, go on.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: It's true.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: People are obsessed.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: People are obsessed.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: I know, I know, I know, I know, I know.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: So they're talking about like footage and like people, like how moved they were, but what is their like interaction with each other?
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: Like, do they seem really comfortable with each other?
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Like, is there any friction that you can sense?
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: Well, it starts off like them doing rehearsals and Noel's like there, like, you know, playing the guitar and da-da-da.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: And then Liam just sort of like walks in and then just like finishes a song and then is just like, see ya, and just like walks back out again.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: And it's definitely like kind of like frosty, and then like bonehead's like, lol, bye then.
- 17:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so bonehead's back as well.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: Okay, okay.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: What about Gwigsy or whatever his name is?
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: I think he le Digsby?
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: Dig, what was it?
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: Gwigsy.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: Guigsy.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: I think he left ages ago, didn't he?
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think he maybe he did.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: I think he went into like counting.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Uh I think that maybe maybe he had anxiety.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: Someone had anxiety and dropped out, and I was like, fair, babe.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: Like, I think that might have been um fuck the guy from Blur.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: What's his name?
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: Uh, not Damon, but uh beginning with G.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: I keep thinking Gareth, but it's not Gareth.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: Anyway, whatever, we'll come back to it.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: But he dropped out because he got anxiety and he was drinking way too much.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: Um, um, but no, so it was only Bonehead, and then um, so yeah, so like the rehearsals bits was definitely like a little bit frosty, I would say.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: And then it kind of like when they first go out on stage together, Liam like grabs Noel's hand, and I guess you kind of think it's like a bit like it's obviously like just spontaneous because they don't really hang out or like speak behind the stage, like they don't, it's not like they're like hyping themselves up together or anything, they both kind of like walk separately to the stage, and so like they go out for the first time and he like grabs his hand.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: I can't remember, but I think Cardiff was the first show, and he like um grabs his hand and like puts it up, and I was like, I know wait, is that Liam to Neil?
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: Liam to Neil, yeah.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: But do you know what that's quite sweet?
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: Because do you remember for after Supersonic, like one of the things that like Liam really kind of drums in is that he or do you remember when there's like talking heads with like um their mum, isn't her name like Patricia or something?
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: Or something like that.
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: Anyway, they all talk about how Liam was kind of always looking for Noel's approval a little bit, and even though he'd react and he'd like make like really weird comments about like Noel's kids and stuff, but it was all kind of like this like knee-ject reaction to Noel kind of ignoring him and sort of like rejecting him.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: Do you remember that?
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but there's yeah, yeah, yeah, no, for sure.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, definitely.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: There's also like a really nice bit though when Noel is talking about Liam and he's like, you know, because Liam a lot of the time is like the songs are written by Noel, like that's what like everyone loves the songs, like this is the music we make, like blah blah blah.
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: But then there's a bit where Noel's talking about Liam, and he's like, you forget actually that the fans are also there for Liam, like he's the front man, like everyone sorry, who forgets that?
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: Noel.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, I don't know.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: I'm like mate, they're pretty much only here for Liam.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: Sorry, no offense, don't you think?
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: Like Liam's the star.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: I mean, I know Noel's also the star, and he's an amazing genius with his songs, but Liam's the like, you know?
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's the front man, he's the face of oasis.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: But yeah, anyway, so he but he says it in like you forget, everyone forgets, but he was saying it like in a way, he was like, he's just so cool, like anything Liam does is like cool and jokes.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: Like he's like, Oh, he he was like at one point, because I'm one point on the tour, like Liam just puts like a tambourine on his head and just like stands there and like doesn't say anything for like five minutes.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah and Noah's like, if I put a fucking tambourine on my head, everyone would be like, You're a cunt.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: And if Liam does it, everyone's like, That's the coolest thing ever.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: Like that's really true.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, I hate for the devil's advocate, but I don't feel like it seems I wouldn't say it's cool when he does it, but I feel like he has the like he has the confidence and the charisma to pull it off.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: Well, he says this one bit where he's like, Everyone thinks that I like, you know, I don't give a fuck about like loads of things, but he was like, You no one realizes it takes a fucking load of effort to not give a fuck.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: He was like, That's I care so much.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: He was like, I care so much.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: That I don't give a fuck, and I was like, I kind of understand what you're saying, but like I feel like even from the beginning, oh, I love this has just turned into a fucking supersonic deep dive.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: But I to be honest, love it.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: Anyway, you know, when like even just them growing up, they obviously had so much kind of trauma with their dad, him being like violent, and then kind of leaving the family, and then obviously him taking out a lot of his anger and violence on Noel, and then Liam kind of growing up, like watching it more, um, because he was quite a bit younger.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: And then, you know, when they kind of talk about Noel growing up and being like really quiet and a little bit more kind of sensitive, like really sensitive, and then he kind of went off and was like playing as like a guitarist on like tour with like other bands, and then kind of Liam grew up sort of idolizing Noel slightly, but then would like they anyway, long story short, they obviously have quite a lot of trauma, and I feel like you can see so fucking clearly how they kind of project that trauma as kind of like this like diffidence or this like act of being like I don't give a fuck, but like obviously they give a fuck.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: I mean, clearly they give a fuck.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: Clearly, clearly they give a fuck.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: Or do they definitely give a fuck now that they're raking in like tens of millions of pounds?
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: So how much do you reckon they earn from last year?
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: I actually don't know, but apparently, so obviously they're now announced that they're doing a tour this year.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: Next year, sorry, and they're doing Nebworth, and apparently the tickets are like um I don't know this 100%, but my friend at work told me they're£175 a ticket, and they're already doing four nights at Nebworth.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: So that's like and that what holds like 200,000 people or something.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: Shit.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: Is£175 better than the than the like what's it called?
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: The something pricing.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: What was it called?
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: Oh the um what was it called?
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: I can't fucking remember.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: Anyway, the cunty, the cunty pricing.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: That's already 35 mil for one night in Nebworth.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: If it's because it's it's definitely like 200,000, isn't it?
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so so if you think about it, they've got to pay their like team, they've got to pay for the like production costs, they've got to pay what else do they have to pay?
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they've obviously they've got to pay the.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's a hundred and 125,000 it holds, so not quite 35 mil.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: So they're probably pocketing at least 12 mil each.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, who knows?
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I mean obviously, yeah, there's loads of costs to like associated with it, but that is that's just Nebworth.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: That's just like a couple nights in Nebworth.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: Compared to and obviously doing like shows everywhere else as well.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: So anyway, so of course they give a fuck now.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: Um I think we should try and go to Nebworth.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, definitely.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: They're both just so funny, and now my algorithm is just like all Liam Gallagher, which obviously I'm not complaining about.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: Um back to Liam.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: Back to Liam, yeah.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: Anyway, it was genuinely really good, really, really good.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: Okay, and is it like a storyline or is it more just kind of like, oh, we're kind of gearing up for this thing?
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: There's a storyline in the sense that like how they got ready to do a reunion tour and what their relationship is like now and stuff like that.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's quite because at one point he's like, Oh, I mean, obviously, like the older kids would have met.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: Um, but the young Noel's younger kids who are like 17 and 18 or 16 and 18 or something, haven't you?
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: 16 and 14, I can't remember how old they are, but they haven't met, they hadn't met some of Liam's kids.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: Because they're like, you know, our kids haven't met.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: How crazy.
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: So crazy and also really sad.
- 25:49SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: Um, and there was one point where Noel was saying that they were like going back from a show, and his youngest kids, like Sunny and Donovan, who are these ones I'm talking about, had obviously like been drinking, obviously they're underage, but like been drinking loads, and were like throwing up like in the car in like plastic bags in between singing like rock and roll star.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: To be like, I'm a rock and roll star.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: And Noel was like, Noah's not like oh annoying, like, oh, I was worried about them.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: He's like, it was so funny, it was just that me and Liam.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: What though, just like him and Liam growing up?
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: That's really fucking cute.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: I know that.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: Um, would your dad be thrilled about if you were doing that?
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: What you you in the car with Alan and like singing fucking, I don't know, paint it black or something, just like intermittently throwing up in a bitch.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: Well, and in this, is he one of the Rolling Stones in this scenario?
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: No, to be fair, no.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: Um, although your dad does look like Keith Richards.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he does.
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: Um they were talking about that.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: That was in that sorry, one more thing on that.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: They were also saying, like, oh, I can't remember that it was Liam.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: It was one of them was saying it was genius what Liam did as a front man, which is basically just standing in one position in a parker, not moving.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: He was like, Can you imagine like Nick Jagger has to like fucking run up and down the stage like when he's like 80 something?
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: And I was like, That's actually so true.
- 27:17SPEAKER_01: That is fucking true.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, he's not even just running up and down, he's fully like he's he's twerking.
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, I literally couldn't believe it when I saw them.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: I was like, I cannot believe first of all, how sassy he was, and second of all, just like the acrobatics, like literally flipping around, running, and all the other ones were like just standing there, like literally about to croak.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, literally mixed liquid hips are something to behold.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: That's a fucking limber, like 90.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: How old is he?
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: Like 80.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's not no, it's crazy.
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: But I mean, to be honest, he he has had like seven younger wives, so I feel like he's kind of and it's probably he's got like a four-year-old child, so I mean he's probably gonna, they're keeping him young.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: Okay, I so love that Keith Richards and his wife have been together like the whole time.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: Is that Patty Hansen?
- 28:10SPEAKER_00: Um I don't know.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: She's blonde.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: He did have one wife before, I think he's had two, didn't he?
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, that's what it was.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: Um my god, I love what's her name?
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: Anita.
- 28:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh no, oh no, it is Anita Pallen.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: Lita Palingberg?
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: Is that right?
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, do you know the like?
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: He's only been married once to Patty.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: Oh, but he did go out with Anita Pallenberg for a long time in 1980.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, that was a really long time.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, did you not know the like the story of their getting together?
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: No, but I love that he's like a long-time relationship guy.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, but I think he did also shag around.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: But listen to this, okay.
- 28:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I just love this kind of shit.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: Like, I this is what I spend all of my free time doing on Wikipedia.
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: Such a weirdo, but anyway.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: So, Brian Jones, who originally started The Rolling Stones, do you know do you know Brian Jones?
- 29:02SPEAKER_01: And then he ended up um drowning in a swimming pool when he was like, I think he was uh 27.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: Um, anyway, and basically Brian Jones was getting increasingly annoyed, like kind of annoying, and basically, even though he'd started the Rolling Stones and basically um conscripted Mick and Keith, who'd known each other at school, um increasingly the band were kind of moving away from Brian's like vision, and he was getting more and more kind of pissed off at them, really like diffident.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: And anyway, they they ended up hating each other, but Brian was going out with Anita Palingberg, um, and they were like fully in love.
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: They've been going out for ages, and then fucking Keith under Brian's nose, bearing in mind that so basically their like relations between all of them had like really really descended, and Brian at this point was like quite heavily using drugs and basically really really in like a dark place.
- 29:59SPEAKER_01: So they Mick and Keith had basically kicked him out of the band that he started and were like, you have to leave the band.
- 30:07SPEAKER_01: Then when Brian was like having a mental breakdown and like essentially on the verge of overdosing, was like full drug addict, he then fucking stole Anita Hallenberg and drove with her.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: I think they drove to Morocco or something together.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: I don't know why that he was driving her, but in the car they ended up like vibing, and then by the time they got to Morocco, they were having like a full-time, full, full-blown affair.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: Then Brian came to Morocco, um, or wherever it was, I think it was Morocco, found out about the affair and basically like beat Anita up in like a drunken rage.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: But I need to pretty much fact check this, but I'm pretty sure this is right.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: And um, and then Mick, obviously, uh not Mick, Keith found out and was basically like never ever touch her again, you're never speaking to her again.
- 30:51SPEAKER_01: And then those two ended up going out and having like a kid together.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so crazy.
- 30:58SPEAKER_01: But she was so cool, Anita Pallenberg.
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: I'm obsessed with her.
- 31:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she was.
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: Um, wow, no, I didn't I didn't actually know that story.
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love all of those stories of like it's like it's like that whole it's like that film, um, was it almost famous?
- 31:11SPEAKER_01: That's one of my favorites.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: I love the whole like groupies and like 60s.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: Have you read um just kids?
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes, yes.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so good.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: Makes you makes you feel like such a loser, doesn't it?
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: 100%.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: I was like, I've wasted my entire youth.
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: And also you're like, that's actual like creativity and like drive.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't have that.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: Like I'm a I'm a fucking loser and a nobody.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: Um I don't deserve any sense.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: Would I sleep on a park bench we can like take scraps of trash that I make jewelry from absolutely not, I know?
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: Like, oh god, I'd be a receptionist for the rest of my life.
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: No, but like even the way that she like romanticized it in the moment, like when actually they were just like not eating, like she's so skinny in all of those pictures, Patty Smith from that era of like the 70s, um, when they were living like the Chelsea Hotel and like blah blah blah blah blah.
- 32:07SPEAKER_01: But it's literally because they just had no food, and like a Robert Maplethorpe, who was like her best friend, Sash Lover, but also he then came out as gay, so they were then best friends.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: He was like working as like a giggler to make money, but then it just goes to sh-like, I don't know, I feel like you kind of can do it now, but like they literally used to go to do you remember there's that story she tells of they used to go to this diner where they knew that Andy Warhol had lunch every day, and that everyone who worked in the factory and they didn't know anyone, they were like absolute nobodies for the middle of nowhere.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: Um, but every day they started going for lunch at the same time, and after like a couple months, like sub by hook or by crook, one of them got chatting to one of the people in the factory, and then they just managed to kind of worm their way into the scene.
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: I'm like persistence, yeah, yeah.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: So we need to have something out in like Calabasas or something.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what scene would you want to worm yourself in?
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: Um, well, Oasis, obviously.
- 33:06SPEAKER_01: Like back in the day, Primrose, the Primrose Hill set.
- 33:09SPEAKER_01: That would have been quite cool.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: That would have been a good one.
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: That would have been a good one.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: Like, what was it?
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: Like that famously, like Sadie Frost and wasn't it that like Iris Law accidentally swallowed like an ecstasy pill or something because they were having like a world party.
- 33:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I heard that.
- 33:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, they did he Liam did tell a funny story when they were younger and like in the band and stuff, they lived near Jamie Oliver in North London, and Jamie Oliver's house was right by the pub, like their local pub, and they used to like leave the pub all the time, like drunk, and like be like, Oh, that's that guy whom like there's definitely scran in that house, and they'd be like throwing things at the window, and Jamie would like lift up the window and be like, Liam, for fuck's sake, go hurt.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, good thing.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: And they'd be like, Chuck and a couple bacon stars.
- 33:55SPEAKER_01: So funny, literally upset.
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: That is like my dream to just like walk down a street and see Liam Gallagher throwing stones at Jamie all over his house down.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: Demanding some like drunk food.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, it's so good.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: I love him so much.
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: I know, as you are.
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: Um speaking of um music news, so did you see that um Fontaines have a song with Rosalia?
- 34:23SPEAKER_00: Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 34:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh my god, I can't believe it.
- 34:28SPEAKER_01: I really want to get tickets for their for their um tour.
- 34:31SPEAKER_01: So basically, definitely go.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, for sure.
- 34:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, probably not all of them, but definitely some of them.
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: So Fontaines DC, the um Dublin band, they all now live in like Finsbury Park and Stoke Newington, but that's by the by.
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: They've got their um new uh album, Dopamine Chamber, coming out on the October 16th.
- 34:50SPEAKER_01: Um, and their song Where is Where is Gone?
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: I think it's that.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: Sounds like it's an unfinished um anyway.
- 34:57SPEAKER_01: Where is Gone apparently, the eighth track.
- 34:59SPEAKER_00: Words it'll be like interesting to see how like the song plays out.
- 35:03SPEAKER_01: It will be such a good match, I think.
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: It will be like, you know, it'll be like a good clash, it'll be like a clash that works, do you know what I mean?
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like she'll be doing some kind of I don't know, like fucking opera and then like grin or rapping or something.
- 35:16SPEAKER_00: Be like did you ever watch that House of Guinness program and like all they did was play Fontaine's songs?
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: I can't listen to another Volkswagen Fontaine song in this.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: One in Dublin.
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: We get it, yeah.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: Sorry, yeah, yeah.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we got it, we got it now.
- 35:36SPEAKER_01: Um, also apparently, so so their last album that they released was literally so it was romance, but they're still they've literally just finished touring it, so it's actually nuts how quickly they've turned the new one around.
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: Um, and apparently it's it's it's really dark, so it's like much more like Cynthia, yeah.
- 35:54SPEAKER_01: So obviously romance.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: I thought romance, to be honest, is quite dark.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: Like Starbuster, that song is literally about like Green having a panic attack, like it's quite angsty, but apparently this one is even more angsty.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: Um, and it's a lot of it is to do with like the world falling apart.
- 36:10SPEAKER_01: Fantastic, yeah.
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: I know, I know, great, yeah, right.
- 36:14SPEAKER_01: So Sense of Sensibility, it's out on the 23rd of September.
- 36:18SPEAKER_01: Um, it is a story that I don't really know um because I hate Jane Austen.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: Um, I've always hated Jane Austen, I have to say.
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: I remember in like year seven, or was it year seven or year eight, we had to do Pride and Prejudice, and I just remember, oh my fucking god, the slog.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: The fucking slog.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: So surprised by that because you're like kind of like a Victorian child in your soul.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: No, I'm not, I don't like the Victorians, I find them really creepy.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: Um we've had this conversation.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: If I can be any period of peace.
- 36:55SPEAKER_00: I love a period of peace.
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: I know, it'd be the French Renaissance, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, be the French Revolution or um the restoration, because um, do you remember I I was a big fan of Charles II because he um was the merry monarchy the merry monarch, yeah.
- 37:15SPEAKER_01: Because he we he he got back into power and then he basically basically it was bloody Lord Cromwell, whatever sorry, Oliver Cromwell started you on a word more the Lord Protector uh Oliver Cromwell and he basically banned Christmas, he banned parties, like he was a fucking boring loser who also plundered and massacred pretty much half of Ireland.
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I didn't I don't like him.
- 37:42SPEAKER_01: Some people really fucking love him, I don't know why.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: Anyway, then the Merrimonic came along, Charles II, he came back from exile in France and he was like, open the playhouses, open the brothels, let's have some fun.
- 37:54SPEAKER_01: So then everyone went crazy.
- 37:56SPEAKER_01: They did, everyone went crazy.
- 37:58SPEAKER_01: So after like years of like go on.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: Maybe maybe you wouldn't have frowned so much if you had met the merry monarch as your leader.
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: Maybe not as your leader.
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: You wouldn't have needed the bloody Botox.
- 38:11SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't have needed it, I would have been completely fine in the restoration.
- 38:15SPEAKER_00: In the restoration, you would have been fine.
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: Oh no, actually, maybe you would have needed it here because you would have had laughter lines.
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: So oh yeah, true.
- 38:23SPEAKER_01: And do you know what?
- 38:23SPEAKER_01: I can't now stop looking at my eyes because I'm like, oh my god, that would be good.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: I'm scared that they're gonna be like, No, I think actually glimpses of myself and I'm like, I'm a wrinkled woman.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: No from my camera, you look like blurred, like your face, your skin looks like completely blurred and smooth.
- 38:41SPEAKER_00: You look blurred, so you look fine.
- 38:44SPEAKER_01: No, you know what I mean.
- 38:45SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, when it's like um was it was it called when it's like you know airbrushed.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: Airbrushed, that's it.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it looks airbrushed.
- 38:52SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, I'm gonna be careful with this now.
- 38:54SPEAKER_01: I'm just gonna talk like this.
- 38:57SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 38:58SPEAKER_01: I did actually buy some of that.
- 39:00SPEAKER_01: What's it called?
- 39:00SPEAKER_01: That fucking face tape.
- 39:02SPEAKER_01: Maybe I should just wear that.
- 39:04SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 39:04SPEAKER_00: Okay, anyway, back to Charles II.
- 39:07SPEAKER_00: No, wait, what?
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: Wait, really quickly on Charles II.
- 39:12SPEAKER_01: So um, well, that's why I really like them, like Rochester and Jonathan Swift, because they went absolutely nuts and started writing like all of this poetry and stuff that was just like absolutely filthy.
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: So I've told you about my favourite poem, A Ramble in St.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: James's Park, haven't I?
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes.
- 39:30SPEAKER_01: So John Wilmore, aka Lord Rochester, aka um Johnny Depp in the film I think it's Libertine.
- 39:38SPEAKER_01: Um, he was like a notorious rake.
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: Um, and basically Charles I loved him because he was like a good laugh, but he also kept offending Charles II, so aka the Merrimonic, because he'd kept writing poems, basically being like Charles's a fat idiot, like laced with like syphilis and stuff.
- 39:55SPEAKER_01: And Charles would be like, How many times I've given you a second chance, I've taken you back from exile, and this is the first poem you write.
- 40:05SPEAKER_01: Anyway, so poor Charles was like at you know, he was just had enough.
- 40:10SPEAKER_01: Anyway, long story short, it's a really funny poem.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: It's basically just about all of them shagging behind all of the trees in St.
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: James's Park, and apparently they just all have orgies, and everyone would be like couple swapping and like partner swapping.
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: And so every time I've ever worked in St.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: James's Park or Victoria and I'll go for a little walk, I can't not look at the trees and be like, wow, like they've seen some things.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: But that's true, you know, that was a real thing.
- 40:33SPEAKER_01: They were like basically like all the kind of upper classes who were pretending to be like all fancy schmancy were all basically just like shagging each other in St.
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: James's Park.
- 40:44SPEAKER_00: It's a nice park.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah.
- 40:49SPEAKER_01: Um, so sorry, Jane Austen.
- 40:51SPEAKER_01: Oh, so I don't like Jane Austen because she's so boring.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: They're like, oh, like, I don't know, it's just it's it's it's it's a comedy of manners, isn't it?
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: And it's all about like polite society, and I just didn't find that interesting.
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: Although as I've gotten older, I feel like I find it funnier because I can understand some of the nuances a bit more.
- 41:10SPEAKER_01: Whereas like back in the day, I was just like, this is so dull, like nothing is actually happening.
- 41:14SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, I know what you mean.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: I like the like romanticism of it, like looking back now.
- 41:20SPEAKER_00: Like when you say Jane Austen at Autumn, I'm like, that sounds perfect, I don't have to leave the house and I just needed like a cup of tea at all times.
- 41:26SPEAKER_00: Do you know what I mean?
- 41:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:28SPEAKER_00: But cup of tea and I get you, like the the all the characters are a bit like well, nothing happens.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: Washy washy.
- 41:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:35SPEAKER_01: Like all of the all of the fucking drama is them just like wistfully looking at each other through the pane of glass of a coach.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 41:44SPEAKER_01: I mean misinterpreting.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, true.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of yearning, which we're quite interested in.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of yearning.
- 41:50SPEAKER_00: We aren't we do love a yearn, yeah.
- 41:52SPEAKER_01: But also, okay, sorry, this brings me on to Pride and Prejudice.
- 41:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:57SPEAKER_01: So obviously, the Netflix adaptation is coming out in I want to say like something of December.
- 42:04SPEAKER_01: Third of December or Netflix.
- 42:12SPEAKER_01: So author Everything I Know About You.
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: Everything I know about you, everything I know about love.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: I know, I'm kind of surprised that I mean not surprised necessarily, but like, yeah, it's a big, it's a big, like, I guess, risk and a responsibility.
- 42:29SPEAKER_01: Like, I wouldn't.
- 42:29SPEAKER_00: I mean, I kind of love like love how well she's done.
- 42:32SPEAKER_00: Like, that's literally her dream.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's literally her dream.
- 42:36SPEAKER_00: Um, um, so well done to her, kudos to her.
- 42:39SPEAKER_00: But yeah, it is a bit of risk, like you would be so scared for it, like not to imagine if it flops.
- 42:46SPEAKER_00: God, it would be bad.
- 42:47SPEAKER_01: So basically, she just released um a kind of article in British Vogue where they asked her to basically keep a diary of the filming schedule, and it's written as like on 29th of July, like this happened on set, and then like 1st of July, you know what I mean, that kind of thing.
- 43:03SPEAKER_01: Um, it's giving Bridget Jones, you know, you know, when like Bridget gets um, you know, when Bridget gets that commission to go interview Colin Firth in Rome in the second book because she's so obsessed with Pride and Prejudice and she's like in love with Mr.
- 43:18SPEAKER_01: Darcy, and then she goes and she basically just only asks him about the like tea wet t-shirt moment and he comes out of the like lake or whatever.
- 43:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 43:27SPEAKER_01: And then he's like and then the interview is like unprintable because like it's just her at the end, like swooning or something.
- 43:38SPEAKER_00: Yearning.
- 43:39SPEAKER_00: Um but I was saying to you, like it's kind of giving like when Emma Thompson wrote a diary when she did Sense of Sensibility in 1995.
- 43:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, didn't you?
- 43:48SPEAKER_00: And it's like, you know, no, yeah.
- 43:50SPEAKER_00: So like she wrote a diary and it's and obviously had Hugh Grant in it, and they were obviously friends.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: And you know what Emma Thompson's like?
- 43:55SPEAKER_00: She's just like quite jokes in the diary, and she's like May 13th, Hugh was a dick again.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: And like that kind of thing.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: So it was like, I know, it was really good, it's really good.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: So it's quite funny.
- 44:06SPEAKER_00: So I was like, I feel like it's kind of like trying to be that, which kind of annoyed me.
- 44:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:11SPEAKER_01: Well, interestingly, she says in this Vogue piece, um, that one of the first things that she did was have a coffee with Emma Thompson because well, first of all, I feel like Emma Thompson's like the fucking the game, the Jane Austen, the game Austen, the Jane Austen like guru.
- 44:27SPEAKER_01: But I didn't realise this, but apparently she secretly wrote quite a bit of the script for the 2005 Kira Knightley film.
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: Um I don't know.
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so the guy no, so the guy Joe Wright, who was the director, basically kind of enlisted Emma to come and sort of help write some of the scenes, and she kind of behind it basically secretly helped out with some of the script.
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: So, you know, that bit where Charlotte is like to Mr.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: uh to you know, when she agrees to marry Mr.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: Collins and like Lizzie is like really judging her, and then she has that kind of outburst at Lizzie where she's like, you know, you like don't judge me, like whatever you do, don't judge me.
- 45:05SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, do you remember that bit?
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: Basically, yeah, ring a hundred bells from that.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: Doing it really well, yeah.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: No, she's like, I'm 27 years old.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: Like I'm watching the no future would do it better.
- 45:20SPEAKER_01: I'm 27 years old, and I have no money and no prospect.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: Already a burden to my parents, and I'm frightened.
- 45:27SPEAKER_01: Don't judge me, Lizzie.
- 45:28SPEAKER_01: Don't you dare judge me.
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: Remember?
- 45:32SPEAKER_01: Like it was yesterday.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: Anyway, she wrote that, like she wrote quite a bit of it.
- 45:36SPEAKER_01: Apparently, he came over to her house, Emma Thompson's house, and they walked up to Hampstead Hill, or like Parliament Hill and Hampstead Heath, and they just like sat down in the notebook and like wrote bits of it, which I thought was cool because I didn't know that.
- 45:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, neither.
- 45:49SPEAKER_01: And she obviously won the Oscar for writing Sense of Sensibility, which she also starred in.
- 45:54SPEAKER_01: Anyway, Dolly talks about how she kind of goes, gets like Emma's sort of seal of approval, which is quite funny.
- 46:00SPEAKER_01: Um, and then it was so interesting.
- 46:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, not gonna lie, like it does sound fun on the set, it sounds really fun.
- 46:08SPEAKER_01: I'm quite jealous.
- 46:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, the majority of the thing.
- 46:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, our favourite was our favourite is Mr.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: Darcy.
- 46:16SPEAKER_00: I started I watched episode one of Slow Horses the other day, and I was like, Oh, so uh safe.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: You texted me being like, I've never felt more comforted in my life.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: Why is he so comforting?
- 46:29SPEAKER_01: Like his character is like no, we're talking about Jack Louden, by the way.
- 46:35SPEAKER_01: Me and Hannah just have this weird thing that he's such a comforting, it's just a warm hug.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: So apparently it's so grounding.
- 46:44SPEAKER_01: Well, from what um Dolly writes in these diaries, it just sounds like it was quite fun hanging out with like quite a lot of like hot people.
- 46:51SPEAKER_01: So, like at one point, she's also obsessed with Louis Partridge, who obviously we are but unsure about post-Olivia Rodrigo.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: But she said at one point she writes, which I thought was quite funny.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: She's like, We've got Louis Partridge, we've got Louis Partridge, my number one choice for Wickham, a man who looks like he really could ruin your life.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, maybe, maybe Wickham like rubbed off on him.
- 47:15SPEAKER_01: Like, maybe that's why like he went and dumped and ghosted Olivia.
- 47:20SPEAKER_01: Anyway, yeah, yeah.
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: He was like, he was like, What was it?
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: Method acting.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: Um, and then later she's like, everyone falling more and more in love with Louis.
- 47:32SPEAKER_01: Charlotte, head of costume, tells me he has been crocheting a little hat for his friends who are expecting a baby.
- 47:38SPEAKER_01: And during the lunch break yesterday, he went into a nearby field to sit and play guitar.
- 47:42SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I think they're red flags, don't you?
- 47:46SPEAKER_00: That is giving performative male.
- 47:48SPEAKER_01: It's giving performative male, and it's giving toxic softboy energy.
- 47:52SPEAKER_01: Um, again, this is okay.
- 47:56SPEAKER_01: Let me read you this one other bit which I thought was funny.
- 47:59SPEAKER_01: She was saying, Okay, so at lunch, Jack and so Jack Loudon, Jack who plays Mr.
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: Darcy, Jack and I stand in the drizzle eating cheesecake and discuss Darcy.
- 48:09SPEAKER_01: He's trying to get under the skin of him.
- 48:11SPEAKER_01: I had the same thing when I first started writing Darcy.
- 48:13SPEAKER_01: He's a hard character to understand.
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: Jack asks me why Elizabeth is attracted to him.
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: I tell him that Darcy is capable, a man of action, rather than just words.
- 48:21SPEAKER_01: Jack points out that he's got servants that do everything for him, which is a fair point.
- 48:25SPEAKER_01: I talk about how capability and reliability can be more than just putting up shelves, etc.
- 48:30SPEAKER_01: And then she goes, Louis is as chivalrous as ever, standing up and offering me a chair and asking me about my weekend.
- 48:37SPEAKER_01: Like, you're his grandma, will ask flatly when I boast of this later.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: I'm like, she's having the whale of a time, isn't she?
- 48:44SPEAKER_01: Like, good for Dolly.
- 48:45SPEAKER_00: Having a great time eating cheesecake and drizzle of Jack Rowdy.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: And apparently they all moved in.
- 48:53SPEAKER_01: The fucking Pave Day.
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: Apparently, they moved into this place called the Golden Parsonage, part parsonage, golden parsonage in Hemel Hempster, which is like some old-fashioned house, um, where they were filming that was Longbourn, the Bennett's house, and they all lived there from July to December.
- 49:08SPEAKER_01: Can you imagine that?
- 49:09SPEAKER_01: Good stop.
- 49:10SPEAKER_01: I know, so jealous.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: Anyway, so that's my news.
- 49:15SPEAKER_00: I'm excited for that to come out.
- 49:18SPEAKER_01: Apparently, there's been quite a lot of backlash because you know how Netflix did Persuasion with Dakota Johnson about four years ago, and it was anyway, it was really bad.
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: So loads of the what do they call themselves?
- 49:31SPEAKER_01: The Jane Austen stands.
- 49:33SPEAKER_01: They're called like Jainites, I think.
- 49:35SPEAKER_01: I think they're called Jainites.
- 49:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, I do have to say, like, you don't feel like in the safest of hands when Netflix is producing something.
- 49:44SPEAKER_00: No, no, they love like you want it to be like A24, don't you?
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: Or just BBC, or like working title.
- 49:52SPEAKER_00: I know working titles the film, but you do you know what I mean?
- 49:54SPEAKER_00: You're like, okay, sure.
- 49:55SPEAKER_01: But like Richard Curtis, if he's connected in any way, like we're good.
- 49:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, if Richard is that we're we're completely fine.
- 50:02SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, like Netflix is just that you're like, it just feels like money rather than something else.
- 50:09SPEAKER_00: But anyway, we'll see.
- 50:10SPEAKER_00: We'll see what happens.
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: Did you fancy any of the characters in Pride and Prejudice?
- 50:14SPEAKER_01: Like, do you see the appeal of Mr.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: Dulce Mr.
- 50:16SPEAKER_01: Dulcie?
- 50:16SPEAKER_00: I don't think I did.
- 50:18SPEAKER_00: I don't think I did.
- 50:20SPEAKER_00: Like, don't no, I don't think so.
- 50:23SPEAKER_01: No, he's really not that fanciable if you think about it.
- 50:25SPEAKER_01: No, and was it like grumpy old git?
- 50:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he doesn't crack a bloody smile.
- 50:30SPEAKER_00: No, and then like he doesn't he can't make any jokes.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: I wonder if he's about to see Jack Loudoin as Mr.
- 50:37SPEAKER_00: Darcy.
- 50:37SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: Oh god, yeah.
- 50:39SPEAKER_01: Well, at one point in her in her in her essay or her diaries, wherever, she talks about how like he keeps he keeps um there's like loads of scenes where they basically have to film him looking like really kind of pensively out of a window, and they have to do sometimes like a hundred takes, and apparently on the monitor they catch him saying, obviously, not realizing that people are listening, why the hell did I like sign up for this role?
- 51:05SPEAKER_01: Because I guess he's just sat there all day, like glowering out of a window, like one take after another.
- 51:14SPEAKER_01: I can just so imagine that's funny.
- 51:18SPEAKER_01: You can I can I that bit's giving that kind of attitude's is giving river, isn't it?
- 51:22SPEAKER_01: Like a bit sassy, yeah.
- 51:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:25SPEAKER_01: Okay, so are you feeling the autumn vibes by the way?
- 51:30SPEAKER_00: I'm feeling yeah, now you've said Jane Austen autumn.
- 51:32SPEAKER_00: I think I'm just gonna really lean into that and just basically not leave the house unless one requests my presence somewhere.
- 51:39SPEAKER_01: One aka Ollie's like, you've got to meet me in fucking Swindon for some kind of caving exercise.
- 51:48SPEAKER_01: Have you been caving?
- 51:49SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, I keep getting no.
- 51:51SPEAKER_00: Well, we did actually when I we did that Guatemala thing, I forgot about this because my brother was speaking to me about it the other day.
- 51:58SPEAKER_00: But we um before the drowning incident, um, we did like some sort of caving thing with like candles.
- 52:05SPEAKER_00: I blocked down my memories.
- 52:07SPEAKER_00: Um it was really dark.
- 52:09SPEAKER_00: My brother's really claustrophobic as well.
- 52:10SPEAKER_00: All in all, it wasn't a great day.
- 52:12SPEAKER_01: Well, we once went cave caving, first of all, is terrifying.
- 52:16SPEAKER_01: Why would anyone do it?
- 52:17SPEAKER_01: Like, why would you even risk getting stuck in like a tunnel in the middle of like in in a water face or whatever?
- 52:23SPEAKER_00: I keep getting TikToks about like people who've died like going caving and stuff.
- 52:27SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 52:28SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 52:28SPEAKER_01: God, your algorithm is quite weird at the moment.
- 52:30SPEAKER_01: I know it's like Liam Gallagher.
- 52:32SPEAKER_01: Liam Gallagher and caving.
- 52:34SPEAKER_01: Well, I remember we used to go caving when we went on family holidays to Wales when we were kids, and my uncle came with us once and because he they needed like an adult, but he had like quite a big beer belly, and we all kind of slipped through this.
- 52:47SPEAKER_01: Like we we were like slithering, like on our stomachs, like underneath this rock.
- 52:52SPEAKER_01: It was I know, and he got stuck, yeah, and he couldn't go forwards or backwards.
- 52:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I think this is that's actually how people are dying in my TikToks.
- 53:03SPEAKER_01: They had to like, I can't remember, they had to kind of like take he had to take something off to like ease himself out, like it's like trousers or something, but like it was really scary, and he's quite he's not he's one of those guys who like pretends he's never scared, but he was like, I was freaking out.
- 53:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, of course, and also the panic just that makes it and also like you use more oxygen when you're panicking.
- 53:24SPEAKER_00: Um, and obviously there's limited oxygen in caves.
- 53:29SPEAKER_00: Anyway, a lot of the people who get stuck they panic and then they stop breathing.
- 53:35SPEAKER_00: Uh oh my god, don't it?
- 53:37SPEAKER_01: But that's kind of why I don't like scuba diving either, because it's the same thing, it's like you when you're conscious that you have to breathe in a certain way, I can't breathe.
- 53:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's like when they do breath work, like breath work doesn't work for me.
- 53:51SPEAKER_01: No, but it doesn't, because it's like when you when you have to think about your breath, then I start having really laboured breathing.
- 53:58SPEAKER_01: Do you get that?
- 54:00SPEAKER_00: Um, because sometimes I mean I've never done a breath work thing, so I don't know.
- 54:03SPEAKER_00: Ever.
- 54:04SPEAKER_00: I don't think so, no.
- 54:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 54:09SPEAKER_00: Well, on that jolly note.
- 54:12SPEAKER_01: Should we hit the road?
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: It's time to wrap up.
- 54:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, another week.
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: Another week, another week.
- 54:18SPEAKER_01: Well, we're gonna see you in two weeks.
- 54:20SPEAKER_01: So, guys, next week we're gonna have another special guest for you.
- 54:23SPEAKER_01: Stay tuned.
- 54:24SPEAKER_01: Um, obviously, we're gonna miss you, Han, but we'll see you in no time at all.
