- 1:31Speaker 2: the other side of the show, we are going to
- 1:33Speaker 2: be unpacking something you slid into our DMS about this week.
- 1:37Speaker 2: We're talking about Christmas gift etiquette. Before we get any
- 1:41Speaker 2: further into the show, misters Gricci, how is your week
- 1:44Speaker 2: been going?
- 1:45Speaker 4: Ah?
- 1:48Speaker 2: I oh no, I feel like I feel like this
- 1:50Speaker 2: year you're so ready to write off?
- 1:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna say, I think I'm just tearing
- 1:55Speaker 3: on the edge of a mental breakdown. But aren't we
- 1:57Speaker 3: all at this time of year? Right?
- 1:59Speaker 2: Ah? Yes, absolutely, like I'm done with this year. Twenty
- 2:02Speaker 2: twenty three can get in the bin. I'm so ready
- 2:04Speaker 2: for twenty twenty four.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Agree.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I just yeah, I'm a bit done.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Me too.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I riached my pants this morning and I just really like,
- 2:10Speaker 3: how how would you go on that thing that.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Happened to you?
- 2:14Speaker 3: On my butt? And I'm so upset because these are
- 2:16Speaker 3: my favorite Alice Kadie Abounds, you should color the bum's like, yeah,
- 2:22Speaker 3: they're free broke tips.
- 2:23Speaker 2: She's like, color You're spinning with a permanent marker and
- 2:26Speaker 2: you won't be able to see.
- 2:27Speaker 4: It's a giving season. I'm gonna they're.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Brown, not black.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Though that's the only get a different text of Jesse Carr.
- 2:32Speaker 3: If anyone in the office has a brown textile, I'll borrow.
- 2:36Speaker 4: I will slide into lskt's and be like, Hi, So
- 2:39Speaker 4: those brown flare leggings that you used to make.
- 2:42Speaker 3: I think they don't sell them anyone's do you have?
- 2:44Speaker 2: I know they don't sell them anymore because I wanted
- 2:47Speaker 2: a pair and they're sold out. But I'll slide into
- 2:49Speaker 2: their dams and be like, excuse me, do you have
- 2:51Speaker 2: any floating around to the office. Do you have a
- 2:53Speaker 2: staff member that was gifted them and doesn't wear them
- 2:56Speaker 2: enough to deserve to keep them?
- 2:57Speaker 3: Yeah, they're secondhand.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't even care. I can stitch them up
- 3:02Speaker 2: for you, but I feel like leggings stitched up is.
- 3:07Speaker 2: It's hard, but we can definitely do it anyway. How
- 3:10Speaker 2: are your pants back?
- 3:12Speaker 4: My pants are currently stained as usual, but otherwise wholeless.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Houllless they are. I'm impressed.
- 3:20Speaker 4: I'm really sorry. In advance to everyone listening, I've lost
- 3:23Speaker 4: my voice. I think it's what you had.
- 3:25Speaker 2: For I think bronchitis is definitely going around.
- 3:28Speaker 4: I think so.
- 3:29Speaker 2: I mean, I'm I'm going to say I sounded even
- 3:31Speaker 2: better than you did.
- 3:32Speaker 4: I usually love a husky voice, but I read it.
- 3:35Speaker 4: I don't know if I like this one.
- 3:36Speaker 2: No no, no, no no. I like I sounded worse. Like I
- 3:39Speaker 2: wasn't trying to say, oh, I sounded so sexy. I
- 3:42Speaker 2: actually sounded like a demonic demon that's hot.
- 3:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Like, I was trying to get through the week the
- 3:50Speaker 2: other week and Maddie called me in the morning and
- 3:52Speaker 2: I was like, Hey, this is what we're going to
- 3:54Speaker 2: do today, like any questions. Farra and I started talking
- 3:58Speaker 2: and she's like, right, I'm calling you on producer because
- 4:00Speaker 2: there's no way you're allowed on the show. And I
- 4:02Speaker 2: was like, but I want to go here, and she
- 4:05Speaker 2: was like, absolutely not. You don't even sound sexy. You
- 4:08Speaker 2: sound disgusting. And I was like, you know what, I
- 4:10Speaker 2: appreciate an honest team.
- 4:12Speaker 4: That's fair. Yeah, but my week's been otherwise good. I
- 4:16Speaker 4: feel like my symptoms physically, I'm not really there. I
- 4:21Speaker 4: literally just have no voice, and so what do I
- 4:23Speaker 4: do with myself? But the week's been great. You know,
- 4:26Speaker 4: it's it's festive season. I'm feeling so excited and so
- 4:31Speaker 4: so festive, so festive, how about you, pe, I'm.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Honestly same as jess I mean probably haven't been thrown
- 4:36Speaker 2: under the buses many times by the world as jess
- 4:39Speaker 2: in the last year.
- 4:40Speaker 4: You know what I did.
- 4:41Speaker 2: At least you're acknowledging it, Like I don't know what
- 4:43Speaker 2: you did in a past life that it was bad.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Juju, Jessica, why is it happening right now?
- 4:48Speaker 3: Literally at the end of it's all compounding, giving me
- 4:51Speaker 3: a mental breakown the gator rates.
- 4:54Speaker 2: In the microwave with you. My week has been good,
- 4:57Speaker 2: you know, the lead up to Christmas, I feel like
- 4:59Speaker 2: there's a a lot of pressure to have already organized
- 5:03Speaker 2: all your Christmas presents, Like I'm seeing it on TikTok
- 5:05Speaker 2: and like, don't get me wrong, like I haven't organized
- 5:08Speaker 2: all of my Christmas presents yet. But in my head,
- 5:11Speaker 2: leaving Christmas shopping to the last minute actually means doing
- 5:14Speaker 2: all your Christmas shopping like Sunday, so like the day
- 5:17Speaker 2: boxing Christmas or like you know, on Christmas Eve. Like
- 5:21Speaker 2: to me, that's last minute if you're buying presents in
- 5:23Speaker 2: the week leading up to Christmas, Like, mate, you're prepared.
- 5:26Speaker 2: In my head, you're prepared. That's organized. So I feel
- 5:29Speaker 2: like there's a lot of I don't know. I'm on
- 5:30Speaker 2: TikTok and they're like, if you haven't organized all your
- 5:32Speaker 2: presence by now, you're behind. I'm like, so I'm blocking you.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I don't need that type of energy right now.
- 5:38Speaker 4: No. Yeah. Also personally, I'm not doing gifts.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Also, I am the gift bye exactly that.
- 5:44Speaker 4: No physical gifts, no physical gifts from you. I don't
- 5:47Speaker 4: think so I rate that. Yeah, I think, I think.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I think that's great.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Maybe Chocky's at most. Yeah, well you gave us the
- 5:53Speaker 4: chockey before, which was very, very nice. We'll talk about
- 5:56Speaker 4: that later in the show though, because we're going to
- 5:58Speaker 4: talk about Christmas gift etiquette and I would love to know.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Your thoughts on that. But before we get there, that's
- 6:04Speaker 2: the other half of the show. Guys, stop getting ahead
- 6:06Speaker 2: of yourself too excited. We get to hear from miss
- 6:09Speaker 2: Jesz Gricci what her favorite community money wins were. So,
- 6:12Speaker 2: jess what money wins? All confessions have you got to
- 6:14Speaker 2: share this week?
- 6:15Speaker 3: Starting off with a slightly self indulgent one from Anna,
- 6:18Speaker 3: which money win? It's taking me the better part of
- 6:21Speaker 3: this year, but I finally listened to every She's on
- 6:24Speaker 3: the Money and Business Bible episode. I've made so many
- 6:27Speaker 3: changes in my life with more to come next year
- 6:29Speaker 3: to put myself and my children in a far better
- 6:32Speaker 3: financial standing, adore.
- 6:33Speaker 2: But also, I'm so sorry you had to go through that.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Well, don't Anna.
- 6:36Speaker 4: That is a lot of ep that is so that's
- 6:38Speaker 4: like five hundred plus episode, so many episodes.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Incredible work. Next, I've got one from Rebecca who said
- 6:44Speaker 3: I did a huge Christmas grocery shop today and I
- 6:47Speaker 3: spent no money. I redeemed my Flatbys points which I've
- 6:50Speaker 3: been collecting for the year to pay for it after
- 6:53Speaker 3: saving over three hundred dollars worth. And then she gave
- 6:56Speaker 3: us a cheeky pro tip to get a one pass
- 6:58Speaker 3: membership because you get free shipping and bonus fly byes
- 7:01Speaker 3: points at Kmart, Bunnings, et cetera. And it adds up
- 7:03Speaker 3: really quickly. Who fix lay.
- 7:06Speaker 4: That's incredible.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Next, I've got one from Domenica, and I kind of
- 7:10Speaker 3: just have questions because she said.
- 7:11Speaker 2: You're like, I have questions. This is why it's going
- 7:13Speaker 2: on the show.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I'm gonna have questions too. She said, I picked up
- 7:16Speaker 3: three extra shifts at work, which was an extra three
- 7:20Speaker 3: thousand dollars.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I'm sorry what you're.
- 7:25Speaker 3: I have questions, Dominica, are you recruiting because.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Jessica is currently doing what are you doing? Just a
- 7:31Speaker 2: thousand dollar challenge at the moment on TikTok, which is
- 7:34Speaker 2: very cool, very creative. I'm also like, excuse me, are
- 7:37Speaker 2: you not getting paid enough if she's on the money.
- 7:39Speaker 2: But okay, so she's trying to save one thousand dollars
- 7:42Speaker 2: in the next month, she could just do one of
- 7:44Speaker 2: Domenica's shifts.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Yes, literally, here's me trying to be creative and I'm
- 7:49Speaker 3: recycling bottles and returning like I'm.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Trying like she's to, which we honestly respect, mad respect.
- 7:59Speaker 2: But and then is like, oh, yeah, by the way,
- 8:01Speaker 2: I do that in one shift at work. Wow, Domerica,
- 8:04Speaker 2: you can't just drop that and then not tell us
- 8:06Speaker 2: what you do for work, because I cannot think of
- 8:08Speaker 2: a job that has one thousand dollars shift that you
- 8:11Speaker 2: can just pick up if you want chess.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Yeah, sobe an announcer.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm going to head back to that to announcer.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Like a radio announcer.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Maybe are you famous?
- 8:21Speaker 2: Famous?
- 8:22Speaker 3: We're gonna We're gonna go back to the comments because
- 8:23Speaker 3: I'm sure Dominica is gonna let us know what Dominica
- 8:26Speaker 3: and I'll be sliding into herms.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Can you not slide into Jessica's dms? I actually want
- 8:31Speaker 2: to keep her on the team.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Next, I've got a money in from Phoebe who said,
- 8:35Speaker 3: I didn't order any of you, but it's last week.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Good for you, simple, but.
- 8:39Speaker 3: A good one.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I can't relate.
- 8:40Speaker 4: I love that. No, I correlate this time.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Movie up. Sorry, all bets are out the window. Next,
- 8:47Speaker 3: I've got a money in from Sanade, who said, win,
- 8:50Speaker 3: I got three squish mellows at the Salvos for two
- 8:53Speaker 3: dollars instead of paying thirty five dollars each at the shops.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Everyone's happy.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Just do you remember last year when we were shopping
- 9:00Speaker 2: Christmas shopping together and we could not find the squish
- 9:03Speaker 2: mellow she wanted. Yes, we went to like every single
- 9:06Speaker 2: shop finding squish meallows feel. I think it was your nace.
- 9:09Speaker 4: And what's a squish mellow.
- 9:11Speaker 2: It's like a giant toy.
- 9:13Speaker 3: They're like squishy, flushy toy.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Cute. Okay, they look like a marshmallow.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Yeah, kind they do all different. This is such a
- 9:20Speaker 3: side note. They do all different characters. I've ended up
- 9:23Speaker 3: on jelly Cat TikTok is anyone else there.
- 9:25Speaker 2: I'm a Jellycat Christmas tree. I want to do what's
- 9:29Speaker 2: so bad?
- 9:29Speaker 3: So jelly Cats are like a booge as toy and
- 9:32Speaker 3: they do these like really fun They're adorable. I'll show
- 9:35Speaker 3: you a phone like fifty bucks toy soft toy. They
- 9:39Speaker 3: do a marshmallow That's what I think that they do,
- 9:41Speaker 3: like the set of marshmallow twins that are really cute.
- 9:43Speaker 3: They do little croissants.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Oh, I love that was showing us right now. That's
- 9:47Speaker 4: very cute.
- 9:48Speaker 3: But it's one of those things that great gift. Would
- 9:50Speaker 3: not pay full price for it. But just want to
- 9:52Speaker 3: say said, I highly rate the idea of getting your
- 9:55Speaker 3: gifts at the shop for Christmas.
- 9:57Speaker 2: That's genius. Agreed, that's absolutely genius. What else have you got, Jess?
- 10:01Speaker 3: That's actually I thought a good one to wrap it
- 10:03Speaker 3: up with Christmas Christmas win.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Love, great love. All right, Beck, you gave us the
- 10:08Speaker 2: broke tip earlier of just coloring in your skin when
- 10:11Speaker 2: you rip your leggings, and that was really really good.
- 10:13Speaker 3: One that I will in fact probably take you up on.
- 10:16Speaker 4: Yes, but I'm not actually going to be letting you
- 10:18Speaker 4: use that as you're one of three today. So what
- 10:21Speaker 4: broke tips you bringing to the table this week? Okay,
- 10:24Speaker 4: so I'm going to do my very best and sorry
- 10:27Speaker 4: in advance for the listeners who are so sick in
- 10:30Speaker 4: my voice right now.
- 10:31Speaker 3: No, they all love it. We're assuming they love it.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Okay, we're assuming they love it. So my first one
- 10:35Speaker 4: comes from Saz, who says, the grass is currently seating
- 10:39Speaker 4: right now, so you can know it scatter the seeds
- 10:41Speaker 4: on patchy parts of your lawn and it works really well.
- 10:44Speaker 4: That's something I never knew.
- 10:46Speaker 2: That's something I would make my husband do.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Yes, be honest, the feminism leaves my body when things.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Are That is my boyfriend's dot. We have this argument
- 10:56Speaker 3: every week because I'm like, the law needs to be
- 10:58Speaker 3: married and he's like, okay, well then mow the lawn
- 11:00Speaker 3: just to be like annoying because he's like, well, when
- 11:02Speaker 3: you're gonna do you know what I mean?
- 11:03Speaker 2: And I'm like, well, I would actually write because I
- 11:06Speaker 2: know how much housework just does, so I'd be like, really,
- 11:09Speaker 2: we're gonna play this game.
- 11:12Speaker 3: He knows that the lawn is his job. I'm like,
- 11:14Speaker 3: that is in our household. It's just not mine, that's
- 11:17Speaker 3: all I know.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I'm a staunch feminist. Like I'm just like, nah, there's
- 11:21Speaker 2: no such thing as men and women jobs, like, absolutely
- 11:25Speaker 2: not equal pay all of that. You guys, I'm assuming
- 11:28Speaker 2: no me well enough by now to know my thoughts
- 11:30Speaker 2: on that. The second you step inside my house, we
- 11:32Speaker 2: have pink and blue jobs. Yeah, I will not take
- 11:35Speaker 2: out the bin. I will not be mowing the lawns,
- 11:37Speaker 2: doing anything to clean the back deck. Are you joking? Sorry,
- 11:41Speaker 2: that's not in my wheelhouse. That's a blue job. A
- 11:43Speaker 2: blue job, I mean technically I have to because you know, okay, yeah,
- 11:47Speaker 2: how does that work in a same sex couple. Well, oh,
- 11:49Speaker 2: you just have to take for the team and actually
- 11:51Speaker 2: mow the lawn.
- 11:52Speaker 4: Yeah, which really sucks. Or you just call the dude
- 11:54Speaker 4: to do it. Yeah, that's smart. That's when the feminism
- 11:58Speaker 4: leaves your body. That's okay, I'm alright with that. Yeah,
- 12:02Speaker 4: it's a really good tip though. Thank you, Yes, I
- 12:04Speaker 4: mean well, thank you sas. The next one comes from Emily,
- 12:07Speaker 4: who says that the Hungry Jacks app have a shaken
- 12:11Speaker 4: win game where you get two chances to win something
- 12:13Speaker 4: or get it cheap, like a cheeseburger nuggets, which is
- 12:15Speaker 4: like obviously you know. Again, as I always say, like
- 12:19Speaker 4: sometimes if you don't have money you're literally just trying
- 12:21Speaker 4: to survive, or if you're trying to treat yourself low budget,
- 12:25Speaker 4: you know, whatever your situation might be. Yeah, this is
- 12:27Speaker 4: really this is a great idea, so you might have
- 12:29Speaker 4: like a free burger one day or a freemast awesome.
- 12:33Speaker 4: I just think it's really cool. Am I actually down
- 12:35Speaker 4: with this?
- 12:35Speaker 2: I think you should download it and try it. One
- 12:37Speaker 2: of my favorite things in the entire world is actually
- 12:40Speaker 2: this this niche Jessica, I think it was you and
- 12:42Speaker 2: I recently Sammy recently discovered this Hungry Jack's chips slap.
- 12:47Speaker 4: Oh they're so good.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Why are they so good? So like, I don't know
- 12:52Speaker 2: how to explain it, but if we were talking about
- 12:54Speaker 2: like how skinny a McDonald's French fry is, and then
- 12:58Speaker 2: how fat a KC Chip is, it's in the middle.
- 13:00Speaker 4: It's in the middle.
- 13:01Speaker 2: It's in the middle, yea in the I don't know,
- 13:04Speaker 2: but it's wizardry and they are really good, real good niche.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Because I don't think many people are like, oh yeah,
- 13:11Speaker 2: hungry Jacks is my favorite fast food.
- 13:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I've never heard anyone say that, but chips are
- 13:16Speaker 4: the best, and the vegan burgers a vegan burgers are
- 13:19Speaker 4: actually good, good, really good.
- 13:21Speaker 2: We're not even paid by Hungry Jacks, but honestly not yet,
- 13:24Speaker 2: Hungry Jacks. If you wanted to pay us, would it
- 13:27Speaker 2: burgers on the show?
- 13:29Speaker 4: I would be very okay with that. Yeah too, because
- 13:32Speaker 4: we're all okay, real hungry, just like, oh it's end
- 13:37Speaker 4: of year, we're all a little bit sick. Let's we're
- 13:40Speaker 4: recording and I'm literally, guys just sitting here thinking, oh,
- 13:43Speaker 4: I wonder if the cafe downstairs, because under our studio
- 13:45Speaker 4: there is a cafe called Little Nookie, which we are
- 13:49Speaker 4: like so cute, but they do these.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Feta and pumpkin like little egg muffins.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Beck.
- 13:55Speaker 2: You saw me eating one the other day and it
- 13:57Speaker 2: was really really good, and I have dreamt about them.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Since there is going to be an actual riot if
- 14:04Speaker 2: I go down there and there's none, fair, I really
- 14:07Speaker 2: want to see that. Yeah, okay, coffee, Yeah, I will
- 14:11Speaker 2: literally flip the table or something like. I hope so
- 14:14Speaker 2: I'm pregnant, I'm hungry, and you said I could have pumpkin,
- 14:17Speaker 2: it's the.
- 14:18Speaker 3: End of your energy.
- 14:18Speaker 4: But we would be like, you can't lift anything heavy,
- 14:20Speaker 4: We'll flip the table for ya.
- 14:22Speaker 2: So good, All right, Beck, what is your broke tip?
- 14:25Speaker 4: Okay? So my one I actually was inspired by Jessica Richie.
- 14:28Speaker 4: At this time I recycling bottles and cans, and now
- 14:32Speaker 4: in Victoria we can do that. So I'm taking a
- 14:35Speaker 4: page out of your book. And also my mum, when
- 14:38Speaker 4: we lived in Sydney together, would go and do this
- 14:40Speaker 4: occasionally and honestly we'd rack up like ten twenty dollars,
- 14:43Speaker 4: which is enough if you see, that's such a good
- 14:46Speaker 4: money in it's so good, and that's a whole bloody dinner.
- 14:49Speaker 1: It is.
- 14:50Speaker 4: It's sometimes even like, depending on your situation, if you're
- 14:53Speaker 4: like a single person, that could be a week's worth
- 14:55Speaker 4: of food for you exactly. So I think this is, yeah,
- 14:59Speaker 4: just such a rate like way to recycle and make
- 15:03Speaker 4: money and buy yourself some groceries.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Now, can I cudd on to it? Yes, I would say,
- 15:08Speaker 3: like collecting the bottles, ask people around you, because at
- 15:12Speaker 3: this time of year, people have bottles and cans they
- 15:14Speaker 3: want to get rid of. They're hosting parties and they're recycling.
- 15:17Speaker 3: So if you go to a friend's house and they're
- 15:19Speaker 3: do a thing and you're helping.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Cleaning to take all of the recycling home for you, Yeah,
- 15:22Speaker 2: Like I just be like, I'm doing the recycling thing.
- 15:25Speaker 3: It's really fun. I'm loving it. Like do you want
- 15:27Speaker 3: to take your cans? And nine times out of ten
- 15:28Speaker 3: they'll say yes. Also, the workplace people don't want to
- 15:32Speaker 3: have to take the work bin out. So if you
- 15:33Speaker 3: have a recycling bin.
- 15:35Speaker 2: I already came.
- 15:36Speaker 4: I already told Jessica we should be going in to
- 15:39Speaker 4: the studio's kitchen and putting her own bin in there
- 15:42Speaker 4: for cans and bottles and then just collecting it when
- 15:45Speaker 4: we come into record.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Scavenged through like a little raccoon, don't be ashamed because like.
- 15:49Speaker 2: You don't be ashamed to be a raccoon.
- 15:51Speaker 3: No, true, a recycling raccoon. You're doing good for the.
- 15:56Speaker 6: Really cute.
- 15:57Speaker 3: I are super cute. I'm not mad about being a raccoon.
- 15:59Speaker 4: But when we were in.
- 16:00Speaker 2: America and we're talking to people about raccoons, because I
- 16:02Speaker 2: didn't get to see one, and I was really sad,
- 16:04Speaker 2: I did see a.
- 16:04Speaker 4: Squirrel and I cried, squirrel. Oh, my gosh, Beck, it
- 16:08Speaker 4: was the best moment of my entire life.
- 16:10Speaker 2: But I said I wanted to see a raccoon because
- 16:12Speaker 2: I was like, those are really cute. And every American
- 16:15Speaker 2: that I said that to would give me side eye
- 16:17Speaker 2: and be like, what is wrong with you? Why would
- 16:19Speaker 2: you want to see a like a bin bear? What
- 16:23Speaker 2: is wrong with you?
- 16:24Speaker 3: It's like their version of bin chicken.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Yeah, They're like, why would you want to see a
- 16:27Speaker 2: bin bear? And I'm like, ah, have you seen them?
- 16:29Speaker 2: Like they're very cute.
- 16:30Speaker 4: They are really cute.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yeah, well, Beck, those are good broke chips.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Thank you so much. I like that.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Let's go to a really quick break and on the
- 16:37Speaker 2: flip side, we're going to be talking about how to
- 16:40Speaker 2: decide where to funnel your savings, and then we're going
- 16:42Speaker 2: to get into Christmas gift etiquette, what it means, how
- 16:46Speaker 2: it works, and talk about a little spicy question one
- 16:49Speaker 2: of you wrote in for us about that topic. So guys,
- 16:52Speaker 2: don't go anywhere.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Welcome back, everybody. Let's take a listen to this week's
- 17:00Speaker 3: money dilemma.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Hi, there, have you got a money dilemma you just
- 17:06Speaker 2: can't solve? The Shees on the Money Team is here
- 17:08Speaker 2: to help.

- 17:12Speaker 6: to answer your most burning money, career, and life questions.
- 17:15Speaker 6: To get involved, simply head to our website and leave
- 17:18Speaker 6: us a short voice recording and you might just find
- 17:20Speaker 6: yourself on the show.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Now, let's take a listen to this week's money dilemma.
- 17:26Speaker 5: Hi, she is on the money. My partner and I
- 17:28Speaker 5: are about to purchase a home, and we're thinking about
- 17:30Speaker 5: how to best use the money available each week for savings. Now,
- 17:33Speaker 5: it's not going towards a house deposit at this stage.
- 17:36Speaker 5: It's about five hundred dollars a week, and we'd like
- 17:38Speaker 5: to use some of it to make extra mortgage repayments
- 17:40Speaker 5: and some of it to set up an investment portfolio.
- 17:43Speaker 5: We don't have any consumer debt, and we do have
- 17:45Speaker 5: an emergency fund. My question is how do we make
- 17:49Speaker 5: a decision about splitting money between investing and extra mortgage repayments.
- 17:53Speaker 5: My partner would like to put most of the money
- 17:55Speaker 5: on the mortgage, but I'm worried about making sure we
- 17:57Speaker 5: put enough in investments as we are already in mid
- 18:00Speaker 5: thirties and don't yet have an investment portfolio, and I
- 18:03Speaker 5: want to make sure we are setting ourselves up for
- 18:05Speaker 5: the future, really looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Luckily, for this one, I can rest my voice because
- 18:11Speaker 4: I assume vickied, how's the answers? No, never, what would
- 18:16Speaker 4: you do?
- 18:18Speaker 3: I mean it's value based spending, right, Partially, I feel
- 18:21Speaker 3: like you would have to. Ideally you'd do the math,
- 18:25Speaker 3: so you'd look at maybe our favorite compound interest calculator
- 18:28Speaker 3: on the money Smart website and chuck in how much
- 18:31Speaker 3: you could potentially earn on investing over thirty years or
- 18:36Speaker 3: however long the term of your mortgage is, and then
- 18:38Speaker 3: you would compare that to how much interest you would
- 18:41Speaker 3: save by making those extra mortgage repayments, right, which is
- 18:45Speaker 3: like the.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Practicem just not needed on this show.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Yeah, it's fine, but.
- 18:50Speaker 3: It comes down to values. I feel like, yeah, you'd
- 18:52Speaker 3: say right, so.
- 18:52Speaker 2: I'll just see myself walk downstairs. Yeah, if that's okay,
- 18:56Speaker 2: no worries. Can I grab my bag before I leave
- 19:00Speaker 2: it to you?
- 19:01Speaker 4: Thank you?
- 19:01Speaker 2: Could you just pack up my desk? Yes, I'll be
- 19:04Speaker 2: really gentle with all the plants.
- 19:05Speaker 4: I promise anything.
- 19:07Speaker 3: I don't know how to work out the mortgage interesting though,
- 19:09Speaker 3: so you can't grow.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Sorry, Oh okay, well I finally have value in life.
- 19:15Speaker 2: You are absolutely correct. It's really about values based spending.
- 19:18Speaker 2: And what it sounds like is your values are building
- 19:20Speaker 2: an investment portfolio, and your husband's values are paying down
- 19:24Speaker 2: the mortgage. And I think we actually before we talk
- 19:26Speaker 2: about returns, need to step back a little bit and go, well,
- 19:29Speaker 2: why does he have I guess, not a fixation, but
- 19:32Speaker 2: where his values coming from when he says he wants
- 19:35Speaker 2: to pay down the mortgage, because obviously that feels very
- 19:39Speaker 2: financially secure. So you know, Jess, I can almost guarantee
- 19:44Speaker 2: this is just a values thing, knowing her when she
- 19:46Speaker 2: has her mortgage, she's going to prioritize her mortgage guaranteed
- 19:51Speaker 2: over the share market because that's what's going to make
- 19:54Speaker 2: her feel safe and secure. And they know Jess well
- 19:57Speaker 2: enough to know those are her values. Those could be
- 20:00Speaker 2: your husband's values, and that's great. But we need to
- 20:03Speaker 2: talk about this and also respect it because it's not
- 20:05Speaker 2: quote which one is better. Let's ask she's on the money.
- 20:08Speaker 2: They'll know I can tell you on paper which one
- 20:11Speaker 2: is better. Investment portfolio, hands down. The average annual return
- 20:15Speaker 2: over a thirty year period for the Australian share market
- 20:18Speaker 2: right now is nine point two percent. Your average mortgage
- 20:21Speaker 2: is sitting at about five So if we go, is
- 20:24Speaker 2: getting a five percent return because I paid off more
- 20:27Speaker 2: of my mortgage better than getting a nine point two
- 20:29Speaker 2: percent return. Jessica the math maths and tells us that technically,
- 20:34Speaker 2: on paper, the best return for your cash holder is
- 20:38Speaker 2: the nine point two percent. However, that doesn't mean that
- 20:41Speaker 2: it aligns to your goals and your values and your
- 20:43Speaker 2: financial security and what you're trying to achieve. Maybe one
- 20:45Speaker 2: of your big financial goals, like jess is, is to
- 20:48Speaker 2: own your own property. And I can almost guarantee she
- 20:51Speaker 2: wants to own that outright pretty quickly. Am I on
- 20:53Speaker 2: the right track there?
- 20:54Speaker 3: Jess Yeah, I think so. I think it's for me
- 20:56Speaker 3: it would just be a security.
- 20:58Speaker 2: It's the third security. It's not a out not knowing
- 21:00Speaker 2: the maths like just invests now. And I think she
- 21:02Speaker 2: wouldn't stop, no, but I think that you would, you know,
- 21:05Speaker 2: really prioritize making sure that mortgage is smashed down and
- 21:09Speaker 2: it's out of your hair. For you, it's always been
- 21:11Speaker 2: about like having your own home.
- 21:12Speaker 3: But interest is a bit sickening when you look at
- 21:15Speaker 3: like if you run the numbers on how much extra
- 21:17Speaker 3: you pay, Like, I get that you have to, there's
- 21:18Speaker 3: no way out of it. But oh makes me feel ill.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Yeah, don't even start me like it's it's terrifying. But
- 21:23Speaker 2: I think really understanding what that looks like. You've got
- 21:27Speaker 2: some extra you know, cash flow. That's fantastic. But what
- 21:31Speaker 2: are we doing now? You mentioned you already have an
- 21:33Speaker 2: emergency fund. I'm glad you did because that obviously would
- 21:36Speaker 2: have been the first thing that I spoke about.
- 21:37Speaker 3: She preempted you, she knew what you were gonna say.
- 21:40Speaker 1: You.
- 21:41Speaker 2: But also, is your emergency fund working hard for you?
- 21:43Speaker 2: Is it like offsetting any of the interest on your mortgage?
- 21:46Speaker 2: Where's your emergency fund sitting? Is it just sitting where
- 21:48Speaker 2: you used to have your emergency fund before you had
- 21:51Speaker 2: a mortgage? What does that look like? How can we
- 21:53Speaker 2: make that money work as hard for us as we
- 21:55Speaker 2: did for it? So then after that we're looking at,
- 21:58Speaker 2: you know, do we go into an investment portfolio, do
- 22:01Speaker 2: we go into a mortgage? And to be honest, because
- 22:03Speaker 2: there's two people in this relationship, we kind of need
- 22:07Speaker 2: to always have compromise. So having a deep conversation with
- 22:10Speaker 2: your husband about well, why are you prioritizing this. Let's
- 22:13Speaker 2: have a look at the numbers. What does that look like?
- 22:15Speaker 2: Maybe he's just never invested before and didn't realize what
- 22:17Speaker 2: that looked like. Do what Jess said, go on the
- 22:21Speaker 2: Money Smart website and have a look at that compound
- 22:23Speaker 2: interest calculator. There are also so many calculators online for
- 22:27Speaker 2: mortgage repayments, so you could google free mortgage repayment calculator
- 22:31Speaker 2: and see what that money would shave off your mortgage.
- 22:34Speaker 2: How many years is that going to take? If you're
- 22:36Speaker 2: in the ses on the Money money masterclass, girl, I
- 22:38Speaker 2: already did it for you. It's built into the spreadsheet
- 22:42Speaker 2: because I'm just really smart.
- 22:43Speaker 4: Bit she's so smart, Oh a spreadsheet.
- 22:46Speaker 2: I definitely do not have any tickets on myself either,
- 22:49Speaker 2: So like, that's really good. You always want to work
- 22:51Speaker 2: with people who are super humble. That's so important. But yeah,
- 22:56Speaker 2: I would have a look at, well, what would it
- 22:58Speaker 2: look like. Let's pretend you have an extra three hundred
- 23:00Speaker 2: dollars a month. What would an extra three hundred dollars
- 23:03Speaker 2: a month actually take off our mortgage versus what would
- 23:06Speaker 2: it look like in an investment portfolio. What are the returns?
- 23:09Speaker 2: But also when will you finish your mortgage? Because if
- 23:12Speaker 2: you're planning on finishing your mortgage and chucking every single
- 23:15Speaker 2: dollar to that, are you then only starting your investment
- 23:19Speaker 2: journey in twenty five or thirty years? If so, how
- 23:21Speaker 2: much time do you have for that to compound? Or
- 23:25Speaker 2: you know, if it's three hundred bucks a month, could
- 23:26Speaker 2: we split it? Could we potentially go half half again?
- 23:30Speaker 2: As Jess was saying, it is values based, it's not
- 23:33Speaker 2: often logic based because money is inherently emotional. That's my
- 23:38Speaker 2: Ted talk. Thanks for coming.
- 23:40Speaker 4: You're so welcome.
- 23:42Speaker 2: You've been a stellar guest.
- 23:44Speaker 4: You so much.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Notarious along, but I really want to get to this.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Yeah, because you're like a Christmas fery.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Yes, and it's a good one this week, not that
- 23:52Speaker 3: it isn't every week.
- 23:53Speaker 2: It's a good one every week. But also anything that
- 23:56Speaker 2: has anything to do with Christmas, like Jess's ears, just
- 24:00Speaker 2: she's having a bad day, be like Jess or remember
- 24:02Speaker 2: Christmas exists, and she's like, I don't even care that
- 24:04Speaker 2: my house flooded. Yeah, I love Christmas. All right, guys,
- 24:08Speaker 2: here is the DM we received. Hello, she's on the money.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I have a Christmas dilemma for you. So my siblings
- 24:15Speaker 2: and I have put one hundred dollars spending limit on
- 24:17Speaker 2: presents for each other this year. However, my sister has
- 24:20Speaker 2: come back and requested more of a demand, if I'm
- 24:23Speaker 2: being brutally honest, that we just transfer her the one
- 24:26Speaker 2: hundred dollars rather than buying herself a.
- 24:29Speaker 4: Gift with it.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Now, I don't know if it's just me, but this
- 24:32Speaker 2: doesn't sit right. I'm more than happy to be in
- 24:35Speaker 2: the Christmas spirit and spend the money on a nice
- 24:37Speaker 2: present that I think she would love, but I don't
- 24:40Speaker 2: really want to transfer one hundred dollars. It feels like
- 24:43Speaker 2: I'm just giving my money away. She said she doesn't
- 24:46Speaker 2: want or need any gifts and would just much prefer
- 24:48Speaker 2: the cash. She also said she would return my present
- 24:51Speaker 2: and get a refund so she can have the cash
- 24:54Speaker 2: if I gave her one. I think she's being super ungrateful, but.
- 24:57Speaker 4: I mentioned it to my friend and she just said
- 24:59Speaker 4: if cash is what she needs, it's not rude to
- 25:01Speaker 4: ask for that over a gift.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Now, I'm not sure what to think. What are your
- 25:06Speaker 2: thoughts on this?
- 25:07Speaker 3: This like what we were talking about a couple of
- 25:09Speaker 3: weeks ago with wedding gifts, and I said the same thing.
- 25:12Speaker 3: I was like, I get why people ask for money,
- 25:14Speaker 3: but for some reason, something in me feels a little
- 25:17Speaker 3: bit uncomfy about it. Sure, and I think it's partially
- 25:21Speaker 3: I said this already, but I think it's partially like
- 25:23Speaker 3: the fact that they know exactly what you've spent. I
- 25:27Speaker 3: mean like when you're if you're buying a gift someone,
- 25:28Speaker 3: you can try get on sale, or you can you
- 25:30Speaker 3: shop back to get cash back, or there are all
- 25:33Speaker 3: of these ways for you to make it a little
- 25:36Speaker 3: bit easily. If you giving us one hundred dollars, like
- 25:38Speaker 3: you're giving them a hundred dollars, it's not really a
- 25:39Speaker 3: whole lot of ways around that.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Why are we doing gifts?
- 25:42Speaker 5: Oh?
- 25:42Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 25:43Speaker 2: Like you know, Jesse, if you and I sat down
- 25:45Speaker 2: and put a limit on the gifts that we were
- 25:48Speaker 2: giving each other, and I said, it's to one hundred dollars,
- 25:50Speaker 2: and you said, yep, no worries, can I have it
- 25:51Speaker 2: in cash? Well, are we just swapping one hundred dollars?
- 25:54Speaker 2: Well that's so true, like a little switch true, Like
- 25:57Speaker 2: I'm going to give you one hundred dollars cash, Jess,
- 25:59Speaker 2: and you're gonna buy me worth one hundred dollars. Like, please,
- 26:02Speaker 2: don't get me wrong, I'm always super grateful for it,
- 26:04Speaker 2: but I think it changes the dynamic of like the
- 26:08Speaker 2: spirit of giving at Christmas, Like I love buying gifts
- 26:11Speaker 2: for people. I know Jess does too, and you do too.
- 26:14Speaker 2: I've noticed your little love language is gifts. Like it's
- 26:17Speaker 2: very very sweet, but it's also one of those things
- 26:20Speaker 2: that you know, I give gifts because I want to
- 26:23Speaker 2: spuck joy. I use gifts because you know, I see
- 26:26Speaker 2: things and I go Jess would love that. Like I
- 26:29Speaker 2: was so stoked this year when I picked Jess's present
- 26:31Speaker 2: because I was, like, it's from a place I know
- 26:33Speaker 2: she loves. It's a thing I know that she would
- 26:35Speaker 2: never buy herself. It's something that I really like, which
- 26:38Speaker 2: to me is really important when giving gifts, because like
- 26:40Speaker 2: I want to like something that I'm giving you, but
- 26:43Speaker 2: also I just knew she would like it or hopefully
- 26:45Speaker 2: like it, or she's lied to me this entire time
- 26:47Speaker 2: and said she liked it. But it's one of those
- 26:50Speaker 2: things where I just get a lot of joy out
- 26:51Speaker 2: of that. Whereas if she'd said, oh, well, can you
- 26:53Speaker 2: just transfer me to cash anyway? I'd be like, oh, well,
- 26:56Speaker 2: this now just feels like a transaction as opposed to
- 26:59Speaker 2: an entire like I've thought about you, Jess. This is
- 27:02Speaker 2: something that I've gone, you know, above and beyond for
- 27:04Speaker 2: of had to track it down and do this and
- 27:06Speaker 2: do that, Like I don't know. For me, gifts are
- 27:09Speaker 2: the thought and that's why I've never really cared about
- 27:11Speaker 2: what they cost. Like I saw in our Facebook group.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Did you see our Facebook group as well? There was
- 27:16Speaker 2: a post about one of the girls had actually made
- 27:18Speaker 2: our wheat packs. Yes, yeah, and she got these gorgeous
- 27:22Speaker 2: tetails from Target that were like six dollars. She made
- 27:25Speaker 2: a whole heap of them, and she was like, these
- 27:27Speaker 2: wheat packs cost me like three dollars fifty a gift
- 27:30Speaker 2: like money wine, and everyone's gonna love them. She wrapped
- 27:33Speaker 2: them up beautifully because it was the thought that counts. Yeah,
- 27:37Speaker 2: And I do feel like when I say, oh, yes,
- 27:39Speaker 2: I'm gonna put a spending limit on our presence, it's
- 27:42Speaker 2: one hundred dollars this year, I feel like that's the limit,
- 27:45Speaker 2: not the expectations, like I'm not getting you a gift
- 27:48Speaker 2: worth one hundred dollars. I'm just saying, let's just make
- 27:50Speaker 2: sure that our budgets are relatively similar, Like, let's just
- 27:53Speaker 2: make sure that we're not going, you know, really obnoxious
- 27:55Speaker 2: this year. One hundred dollars is a lot of money too,
- 27:58Speaker 2: it is I for one gift for one person, Like,
- 28:01Speaker 2: that's a lot of money. So I just look at
- 28:03Speaker 2: it and go, you're just asking for a hundred bucks
- 28:06Speaker 2: now that it's a bit weird. Whereas if I had
- 28:09Speaker 2: set I don't know, if i'd set a budget of
- 28:11Speaker 2: one hundred dollars, especially way back in UNI days and
- 28:14Speaker 2: when I just was a bit more strapped for cash,
- 28:16Speaker 2: I'd be like, great, let's pretend it's one hundred dollars. Yes,
- 28:19Speaker 2: I'd then be like shopping around, going to DFO, trying
- 28:22Speaker 2: to find something that was also discounted so I didn't
- 28:25Speaker 2: have to spend the whole one hundred dollars, but you,
- 28:28Speaker 2: as the gift receiver, was still getting a heap of value.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Yeah, So I don't know, I know I've been on
- 28:34Speaker 4: the other end where I want the cash because especially
- 28:38Speaker 4: if you're just so fair. Yeah, and like I guess
- 28:41Speaker 4: if you're spending money over Christmas, what you really need
- 28:46Speaker 4: is cash because you're like, it's so stressful sometimes it's
- 28:49Speaker 4: so anxiety inducing. So I totally get wanting the money,
- 28:54Speaker 4: but I totally get the dissatisfaction of literally just trend
- 29:00Speaker 4: forring someone a hundred bucks, and also when it comes
- 29:02Speaker 4: to like the morning of when that person's just sat
- 29:05Speaker 4: there not opening any presents. But I guess like if
- 29:09Speaker 4: everyone's comfortable sending or not sending but giving the hundred
- 29:12Speaker 4: dollars instead, I would maybe try and make it like creative,
- 29:16Speaker 4: like get like a really cheap biggie bank and put
- 29:18Speaker 4: like the hundred bucks in there, or like make it,
- 29:21Speaker 4: say like it in a card and put it in
- 29:24Speaker 4: something that you can still wrap so it feels like
- 29:26Speaker 4: she's still opening a present or something like that, you know.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Yeah, or just transfer me to the hundred bucks, don't
- 29:31Speaker 2: worry about it.
- 29:32Speaker 4: Yeah, it feels very transactional, it does. It feels very unsatisfying.
- 29:35Speaker 4: And then yeah, like what if everyone wanted that same thing,
- 29:38Speaker 4: then everyone would just be like, oh, I'll just keep
- 29:41Speaker 4: the money in my own account, and everyone breaks even
- 29:43Speaker 4: no one gets a present, you know what I mean.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Like, may just start doing presents this year, coase we
- 29:48Speaker 2: stretch for cash Like yeah, I don't know. I just
- 29:50Speaker 2: I don't feel uncomfortable with it, Like I feel like
- 29:53Speaker 2: I've given cash as presents before, when people would be like, oh,
- 29:56Speaker 2: I'd love cash. And when I was younger, if my
- 29:58Speaker 2: parents were like, what do you want for MS you
- 30:00Speaker 2: new days, I was like money, yes, please give me money.
- 30:04Speaker 3: I need cash. Yes.
- 30:06Speaker 2: But and this is very entitled again, like it is
- 30:10Speaker 2: absolutely showing my privilege. I knew that by asking my
- 30:14Speaker 2: parents for cash, they would definitely give me cash, but
- 30:17Speaker 2: I'd always still get something trivial to open on the day.
- 30:21Speaker 2: And I feel like it did take the spark away,
- 30:24Speaker 2: Like now I'm going to be a mum. I'm not
- 30:26Speaker 2: gonna love giving my kids cash, like I'm a gift
- 30:29Speaker 2: giver at heart, Like I'm not gonna love that, but
- 30:32Speaker 2: it's also practical. Yeah, and right now I feel like
- 30:35Speaker 2: asking for cash is fine, but like, let's just take
- 30:37Speaker 2: it one step further. Let's not do that little dance
- 30:40Speaker 2: of Jess. You get me a present worth one hundred
- 30:42Speaker 2: dollars and I'll do the same thing, Like let's just
- 30:44Speaker 2: be like, oh, let's just not do presents, you know,
- 30:47Speaker 2: what I would love a really beautifully written card, Hey,
- 30:50Speaker 2: Merry Christmas. It's been so lovely hanging out with you
- 30:52Speaker 2: this year, Like it's really nice.
- 30:55Speaker 3: ID card would be cute if you didn't want to
- 30:57Speaker 3: do gifts, like okay, we have to make each other
- 30:58Speaker 3: something with stuff home to make a card, you have
- 31:00Speaker 3: to make it gingerbread house. You have to make something
- 31:03Speaker 3: that doesn't cost money, but it's made with love.
- 31:06Speaker 2: No, I agree. So we asked the community. We said,
- 31:08Speaker 2: do you think it's rude to tell someone to give
- 31:11Speaker 2: you cash instead of buying a gift? Forty two percent
- 31:14Speaker 2: of you said, yep, that's rude, but fifty eight percent
- 31:17Speaker 2: of you said Nope, not rude at all. We also
- 31:19Speaker 2: asked the question, would you prefer the one hundred dollars
- 31:21Speaker 2: gift or one hundred dollars in cash? Forty one percent
- 31:25Speaker 2: of you said the gift, it's much more meaningful, and
- 31:28Speaker 2: fifty nine percent of you said, give me the cash.
- 31:31Speaker 2: It's just more useful. Cost a living crisis, it's true.
- 31:35Speaker 2: The next question we asked was, have you ever returned
- 31:37Speaker 2: a present for a refund suit that you could have
- 31:39Speaker 2: the cash instead of the gift. Fifteen percent of you
- 31:43Speaker 2: said yes, and eighty five percent of you said no.
- 31:46Speaker 2: It's hard because a lot of time you wouldn't have
- 31:47Speaker 2: the receipts. Logistically, it's probably, you know, always gift with
- 31:52Speaker 2: gift receipts because I'm anxious.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Yeah, Like I gave Justs a Christmas present and then
- 31:58Speaker 2: she looked like she liked it, but there was a
- 32:00Speaker 2: little gift receipt in the bottom if she Yeah, but
- 32:06Speaker 2: I'm always just like, oh, like I would tell someone
- 32:09Speaker 2: that I loved the gift. Yeah, Like have you ever
- 32:11Speaker 2: been like, oh, thanks for the gift, beck, I'm going
- 32:14Speaker 2: to return this because it's not really my vibe. I
- 32:17Speaker 2: couldn't no, neither, I do not have like I do
- 32:20Speaker 2: not have that level of confidence, and I'm just too
- 32:22Speaker 2: much for the people pleaser. Wouldn't happen regift? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, same.
- 32:28Speaker 2: We should have asked about regifting. Yeah, sorry, guys, we
- 32:32Speaker 2: suck all right, but we did say give us your
- 32:34Speaker 2: two cents. So someone said, my sister and I just
- 32:37Speaker 2: don't do presents for this reason. We both just get
- 32:39Speaker 2: to keep our money.
- 32:41Speaker 4: That's about.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Someone said, I much prefer giving people cash or gift cards.
- 32:45Speaker 2: People never pick what I need. Someone else said, no
- 32:49Speaker 2: problem with asking for cash for Christmas. Sounds like your
- 32:52Speaker 2: sister didn't ask for it though she demanded it.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe it's in the execution. Perhaps, sure I would.
- 33:00Speaker 3: I really love cash this Christmas. I'm just so strapped.
- 33:03Speaker 3: I guess might have gone over differently too. If you
- 33:05Speaker 3: buy me a present, I'm returning it.
- 33:07Speaker 2: That Yeah, Actually the tone is what threw me the most.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Can you imagine if I turned around and said, Jess,
- 33:13Speaker 2: if you get me a present, I'm just going to
- 33:15Speaker 2: return it.
- 33:16Speaker 3: I love it?
- 33:17Speaker 4: Awkward and you're like, oh okay, can you imagine if
- 33:20Speaker 4: you'd already bought the present?
- 33:21Speaker 2: Well, yeah, like what I go to see myself out
- 33:25Speaker 2: the thanks. Someone said it's pointless to give one hundred
- 33:28Speaker 2: dollars cash and then receive one hundred dollars cash. Just
- 33:31Speaker 2: keep it, don't do the transfer, don't do gifts this Christmas.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:36Speaker 2: A lot of people said there's nothing wrong with asking
- 33:38Speaker 2: for cash, and absolutely that's the case. I think it
- 33:40Speaker 2: really goes back to tone. So asking for cash is
- 33:43Speaker 2: one thing being blunt and being like, Jess, I'll return your.
- 33:47Speaker 4: Present, chucking it straight in the bin.
- 33:49Speaker 2: I am not going to respect this at all. And
- 33:52Speaker 2: then a few other people said, look, asking for a
- 33:55Speaker 2: transfer does feel rude. Maybe a voucher could be a
- 33:57Speaker 2: happy medium.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Like so you still like what you were
- 34:00Speaker 3: saying back? You still have something to wrap?
- 34:02Speaker 4: Yeah? Maybe?
- 34:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:04Speaker 2: I just feel like vouchers limiting though, Like, don't get
- 34:07Speaker 2: me wrong, I feel like lots of us appreciate like
- 34:09Speaker 2: a Coals My gift card, And as a business owner,
- 34:12Speaker 2: actually I've looked into this kind of stuff for like
- 34:15Speaker 2: Christmas presents and bonuses and stuff, And as a business owner,
- 34:19Speaker 2: it's actually easier to give you, guys like a gift card,
- 34:22Speaker 2: like a Coals My gift card that you could use
- 34:24Speaker 2: however you want them giving you cash because then you
- 34:26Speaker 2: don't have to pay tax on it. Oh yeah, and
- 34:29Speaker 2: it becomes like a work gift because I bought a
- 34:31Speaker 2: thing for you, sense yeah, Whereas if I just transferred
- 34:35Speaker 2: the cash, well, that's income, isn't it, So see you later.
- 34:39Speaker 2: However many percent in tax you pay. A lot of
- 34:42Speaker 2: people have said, look, you just don't need more stuff,
- 34:44Speaker 2: They just need to pay their bills, and I totally
- 34:46Speaker 2: resonate with that. Again, I just honestly like, I'm not
- 34:50Speaker 2: going to go through too many more of these, because
- 34:51Speaker 2: they're honestly the same. A few of you are a
- 34:53Speaker 2: bit rude, and I'm like, give her nothing, someone else said,
- 34:56Speaker 2: and I laughed at this. I shouldn't have laughed at this,
- 34:59Speaker 2: because it's kind of nice. They were like, why don't
- 35:01Speaker 2: you just make a hundred dollars donation on her behalf.
- 35:04Speaker 4: Or she'd hate it, Like you can't refund that's true,
- 35:11Speaker 4: that's true anyway.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I think it's really interesting. Again, I think, especially at
- 35:16Speaker 2: this point in the year, people do just need cash
- 35:18Speaker 2: to pay their bills, put food on the table, and
- 35:21Speaker 2: I don't think it's bad to ask for that. I
- 35:23Speaker 2: think it honestly all comes down to tone and meaning.
- 35:26Speaker 2: And if you're demanding something and saying, well, I want this,
- 35:30Speaker 2: and if you don't provide this, well then I'm just
- 35:32Speaker 2: going to return your gift, that to me feels a
- 35:35Speaker 2: bit ick and it's like, well, let's just not do
- 35:37Speaker 2: gifts because you clearly don't even care about the fact
- 35:39Speaker 2: that I would be gifting you something anyway, sure like, yeah,
- 35:42Speaker 2: keep your money, I'll keep my money, and we'll just
- 35:45Speaker 2: call it even so true anyway, those are my thoughts.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Anything else to wrap with. My ladies, have a wonderful Christmas.
- 35:53Speaker 4: Happy Christmas, my baby, Happy Christmas everyone.
- 35:56Speaker 2: I am so excited for Christmas Day. I look forward
- 36:00Speaker 2: to Christmas. Jess, it's the same. She's very festive, and
- 36:02Speaker 2: I think you rock a little bit of a Christmas
- 36:04Speaker 2: vibe too. I feel like you slip into it. But
- 36:07Speaker 2: it's also not the happiest time of year for each
- 36:09Speaker 2: and every single one of our community members. So if
- 36:12Speaker 2: you're hearing us talking about how exciting and amazing it
- 36:14Speaker 2: is and you're like, geez like, be like, that's not
- 36:16Speaker 2: going to be my Christmas. One, I'm really sorry. Two,
- 36:20Speaker 2: I'm thinking of you and we love you, and we
- 36:22Speaker 2: hear every single other day of the year. At the
- 36:24Speaker 2: end of the day, if you're not surrounded by people
- 36:26Speaker 2: who love and support you, then maybe you're in the
- 36:28Speaker 2: wrong room. But also, I just want to remind you
- 36:31Speaker 2: all that we are thinking of you and that Christmas
- 36:33Speaker 2: is bloody hard for lots of us. Yes, altely so
- 36:36Speaker 2: it's not easy. But another year we've done it, and
- 36:40Speaker 2: I think that we all deserve a little bevragino to
- 36:42Speaker 2: celebrate the fact that we're still here. We're still thriving.
- 36:45Speaker 4: Absolutely big Merry Christmas and happy yu'll to those who celebrate.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Yes see you next week, guys, Bye guys.
