- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, my name's Santasha Nabananga Bamblet. I'm a proud Yr
- 0:04Speaker 1: the Order Kerni Whaltbury and a waddery woman. And before
- 0:08Speaker 1: we get started on She's on the Money podcast, I
- 0:11Speaker 1: would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land
- 0:14Speaker 1: of which this podcast is recorded on a wondery country,
- 0:18Speaker 1: acknowledging the elders, the ancestors and the next generation coming
- 0:22Speaker 1: through as this podcast is about connecting, empowering, knowledge sharing
- 0:27Speaker 1: and the storytelling of you to make a difference for
- 0:30Speaker 1: today and lasting impact for tomorrow.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Let's get into it.
- 0:34Speaker 3: She's on the Money. She's on the Money.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Hello and welcome to She's on the Money podcast that
- 1:00Speaker 2: makes personal finance fun, especially on Fridays. It's our favorite
- 1:04Speaker 2: day of the week because we get our team together
- 1:06Speaker 2: and we celebrate you our incredible She's on the Money community.
- 1:10Speaker 2: It's just Greachy is here as always sharing our favorite
- 1:13Speaker 2: money wins. Beck is here sharing her broke tips, and
- 1:15Speaker 2: we're going to be helping to answer money dilemma this week.
- 1:18Speaker 2: It's all about whether you should re mortgage to get
- 1:20Speaker 2: an offset account. That's secretly something I really want to
- 1:24Speaker 2: talk about. And something that you slid into our dams
- 1:26Speaker 2: about this week? Who is in the right in a
- 1:29Speaker 2: wedding guest list drama? I have strong opinions on this,
- 1:33Speaker 2: strong opinions the same as somebody who went through a wedding.
- 1:37Speaker 2: You know, I'd do it, I'd do it again. I'll
- 1:40Speaker 2: do it again. But before we get there, my loves,
- 1:43Speaker 2: how are your weeks really good?
- 1:45Speaker 4: Happy onyx Storm release week to everybody.
- 1:50Speaker 2: So bad, Like, oh my goodness. I feel like those
- 1:54Speaker 2: two books got me back into reading. Like I read
- 1:56Speaker 2: the first one and I was like, oh, that's pretty good.
- 1:58Speaker 2: And then I think it was you and you were like,
- 1:59Speaker 2: have you read the sequel? And I was like, sorry,
- 2:01Speaker 2: a sequel to a book I loved? Say less no, no,
- 2:05Speaker 2: but yes.
- 2:06Speaker 4: So for Becc and anyone who doesn't know, there's a
- 2:08Speaker 4: series of books called Fourth Wing. They are in the Romanticy.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Remember me probably about a year ago, being like I
- 2:14Speaker 4: want book recommendations, no smut, and now I'm.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Like, give me this. It is actually the funniest thing.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Just like I don't think I'm into it, and I
- 2:22Speaker 2: was like, I think you are.
- 2:23Speaker 4: You know you know what I realized I don't want
- 2:25Speaker 4: smart for smut's sake. It has to be.
- 2:27Speaker 2: It's part of the story.
- 2:28Speaker 4: I'm part of, like because people have sex, right, so
- 2:30Speaker 4: it's like when it do that shockingly, how you pro create?
- 2:33Speaker 4: When it's part I like it anyway. So it's there's
- 2:38Speaker 4: two books that are out already. It's Fantasy Romantic Dragons,
- 2:42Speaker 4: very good.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I've got Fourth Wing and then you've got Iron Flame.
- 2:45Speaker 2: And both of them were good books.
- 2:47Speaker 4: Yes, and I only read them. So I only read
- 2:50Speaker 4: these books like this month, so I haven't had to.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Wasn't even you. It must have been Brooke who was
- 2:54Speaker 2: having this conversation with me. Yes, it was Brooks. She
- 2:56Speaker 2: recommended this book to me. I was like, great, thanks,
- 2:59Speaker 2: It got me back into reading. So then she said
- 3:02Speaker 2: that there was a sequel and I was like, say less,
- 3:04Speaker 2: I cannot wait to read this. Got to the end
- 3:06Speaker 2: of it and was like, oh, it's a trilogy. Fantastic
- 3:08Speaker 2: because it said at the back that what was it
- 3:11Speaker 2: onyx Storm is next. And then I'm like, great, I'll
- 3:15Speaker 2: go on my Kindle. I'll purchase that Live Lovelf.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Not ready out and it was months. Yeah, the girls
- 3:21Speaker 4: have been waiting about a year, I think, and it
- 3:24Speaker 4: came out on Tuesday.
- 3:26Speaker 2: I had it on pre order. Girl, it is going
- 3:28Speaker 2: to be on my kindle already waiting for me when
- 3:30Speaker 2: I have a moment. I read it in like two days. Wait,
- 3:35Speaker 2: so great week, Great week. Jess has been reading smart
- 3:38Speaker 2: this week? Is the Stmary of that conversation. Yes, how
- 3:41Speaker 2: are you? I can tell, I can tell.
- 3:45Speaker 5: She's glowing, good week, settled into new home. Just you know, honestly,
- 3:51Speaker 5: nothing that is super noteworthy.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Nothing.
- 3:56Speaker 2: There absolutely is next week anniversary. Oh no, oh, no,
- 4:00Speaker 2: you go, you go. It's about you, babe. You came
- 4:04Speaker 2: into the office or you came into the studio carrying
- 4:07Speaker 2: a coffee. Yes, no, tell me about the coffee situation
- 4:11Speaker 2: because I'm really proud of you. Think you.
- 4:13Speaker 5: I've just got like a seven buck French press from Kmart. Yeah,
- 4:16Speaker 5: and I well, I told myself that I can't buy coffee,
- 4:22Speaker 5: and usually on my own I cannot stick to something.
- 4:24Speaker 5: So I've written like a thing to my best friend.
- 4:26Speaker 5: It's a contract that says if I break this contract,
- 4:29Speaker 5: I owe you a thousand dollars.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Okay, I didn't realize it was that dramatic because Beck
- 4:35Speaker 2: is a chronic coffee goal. I showed the cafe like
- 4:40Speaker 2: totally system. Yes, and now you're making three or four
- 4:44Speaker 2: a day.
- 4:44Speaker 5: Yes. There are several things in this contract like must
- 4:47Speaker 5: exercise X amount of times for a week. I must
- 4:49Speaker 5: do thirty minutes exercise before I can vape every day,
- 4:52Speaker 5: which is a bignored at the end of it, which
- 4:55Speaker 5: is like something you need when you're trying to build
- 4:56Speaker 5: a habit, reward and something something, something, I don't know what.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I would argue that using the vapors the reward is reinforcing.
- 5:03Speaker 5: I know it's silly, but it's like the only thing
- 5:06Speaker 5: that will help me stick to it. So this is
- 5:09Speaker 5: this is the thing. So I haven't brought coffee in weeks, weeks.
- 5:11Speaker 5: I don't know how much to say it, probably not
- 5:13Speaker 5: much yet.
- 5:13Speaker 2: But I am so impressed. Can you do something for me? Absolutely?
- 5:16Speaker 2: Oh that's so nice, even asking no. Can you set
- 5:20Speaker 2: up an automatic direct debit because I know that you
- 5:22Speaker 2: were buying like four coffees a day. You were buying
- 5:24Speaker 2: at least four because like our senior budget, babe, I've
- 5:27Speaker 2: seen it senior spending, I know, and that's no judgment,
- 5:31Speaker 2: but can you transfer the amount of two coffees like
- 5:34Speaker 2: just set up a direct debit for the cost of
- 5:35Speaker 2: two coffees every day into a savings account. I do
- 5:38Speaker 2: have an account called Haven't Brought Coffee. I haven't just
- 5:42Speaker 2: set up an orto transfer yet, but no, no, we're going
- 5:43Speaker 2: to set up the auto transfer next because then it's
- 5:46Speaker 2: just going to be taking the money that you already
- 5:48Speaker 2: felt like was going to going so instead of getting
- 5:51Speaker 2: to the end of the month being like which I
- 5:53Speaker 2: know you well enough to say this, this is an offense.
- 5:56Speaker 2: If you would get to the end of the month,
- 5:57Speaker 2: I've got extra fifty bucks, I'm going to spend it,
- 5:59Speaker 2: like I think that would happen. So can we get
- 6:01Speaker 2: rid of it before that happens? Lock it away?
- 6:04Speaker 5: I know have been locking my accounts now actually, which
- 6:07Speaker 5: is maybe there's other banks, but I'm you're not.
- 6:09Speaker 2: On your Chazy's app too, so I know you're so
- 6:11Speaker 2: you could like have a direct debit for investing. Yes, yes, yes, okay, yes, busy, busy.
- 6:22Speaker 2: We had our Australian Open live show last week which
- 6:25Speaker 2: was really really cool and I feel like I'm so
- 6:26Speaker 2: riding that high. It has been so busy. I feel
- 6:30Speaker 2: like I'm just so excited to be back at work,
- 6:33Speaker 2: Like I've been going into the office and I only
- 6:35Speaker 2: go into like the Zella offices once or twice a week.
- 6:38Speaker 2: At the moment, I just I want to be in
- 6:39Speaker 2: there more. Like I just I'm so excited for or achieving.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Our team is growing, like they're so motivated. I don't know,
- 6:46Speaker 2: maybe they needed a break from me to come back
- 6:48Speaker 2: refreshed and reinvigorated. But like everybody's just like on a
- 6:51Speaker 2: high getting stuff done. Like I don't know if this
- 6:54Speaker 2: is like too much to share, but we had the
- 6:56Speaker 2: most amount of settlements that we've actually ever done as
- 6:59Speaker 2: a business in January, and I just think that's so
- 7:02Speaker 2: exciting to come into and like, I don't know, it's
- 7:05Speaker 2: just it has been.
- 7:06Speaker 4: A fun time. Yes, that's so cool.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:09Speaker 4: She rad the high with the five star review one hundred.
- 7:12Speaker 2: All right, so this one is from Ashley Atkinson and
- 7:15Speaker 2: she said five stars. I am obsessed with She's on
- 7:18Speaker 2: the Money. I listen every day on my commute to work.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I feel completely aligned to their mission of empowering women
- 7:24Speaker 2: to get financial freedom. I open up the topic of
- 7:27Speaker 2: finance in my own team and recently helped a twenty
- 7:30Speaker 2: six year old into her first home, which she didn't
- 7:34Speaker 2: even think was possible from her background. That is the
- 7:37Speaker 2: ripple effect of the She's on the money women empowering
- 7:40Speaker 2: other women. So cool, as VD says, a rising tide
- 7:43Speaker 2: lifts all ships. Thanks team, Oh that's really really cool.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Isn't that the cutest thing ever?
- 7:49Speaker 6: Really?
- 7:50Speaker 2: What do you mean you then helped somebody else buy
- 7:52Speaker 2: their first home and they didn't even think that was
- 7:54Speaker 2: possible until you shared it. That is really cool.
- 7:57Speaker 4: She's on the money disciples. They're doing this anything.
- 8:01Speaker 2: This is a pyramid scheme I can get behind. I
- 8:04Speaker 2: said something and then you shed it, and then you
- 8:05Speaker 2: shared it with somebody else.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Stay less, someone's talking incredible.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Say less. Welcome to the cult, baby, all right, Miss
- 8:13Speaker 2: Jess agree, she's speaking of our cult. What money wins
- 8:17Speaker 2: if they got this week already?
- 8:19Speaker 4: Firstly, you have one from cult member.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Tay who said, money win. We'll subday.
- 8:23Speaker 4: Due to my water company not mailing my bills to
- 8:26Speaker 4: my correct address for the past three years, we landed
- 8:29Speaker 4: ourselves a massive bill. I rang them and complained as
- 8:33Speaker 4: this was their fault for not delivering the bills to
- 8:35Speaker 4: the correct place, and they halved it.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Saved yourself over seventeen hundred dollars. Also, how are they
- 8:41Speaker 2: sending it to the wrong address? Like what the dress
- 8:43Speaker 2: is using the water?
- 8:44Speaker 4: And then Sharon jumped in with a comment underneath and said,
- 8:47Speaker 4: from memory, they can only charge you the past twelve
- 8:50Speaker 4: months of fees when this happens. She did, they do
- 8:53Speaker 4: some research, but you might be entitled to more of
- 8:55Speaker 4: a cut.
- 8:55Speaker 2: So good. Yeah, it's like it's half I feel like
- 8:57Speaker 2: they should baby do okay, but that's that actually a
- 9:00Speaker 2: sleigh into it, like saying, oh, by the way, because
- 9:05Speaker 2: do you know what you could do? You don't even
- 9:07Speaker 2: need to do the research. You can call the water
- 9:09Speaker 2: company because I can almost guarantee they would record their
- 9:11Speaker 2: calls for quality obviously content. Yeah, so you could call
- 9:17Speaker 2: them and say, hey, I'm under the impression that you
- 9:20Speaker 2: can actually only charge me for this, and they will
- 9:23Speaker 2: either confirm or tonight. They can't lie to you because
- 9:25Speaker 2: it will be recorded. Make them do the research exactly. Anyway,
- 9:30Speaker 2: carry on.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Next, I've got money in from Charlotte who said she
- 9:33Speaker 4: cleaned out the meats and leftovers and random things that
- 9:36Speaker 4: she had in her freezer and had a week of
- 9:38Speaker 4: cheap eats. My personal favorite tips you when we're really broke.
- 9:43Speaker 4: I go, okay, that's it. We're eating freezer food for
- 9:44Speaker 4: the next week.
- 9:45Speaker 5: One.
- 9:46Speaker 4: You have so much space for ice cream.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I know, and like sometimes I look at it and
- 9:50Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, this went off in March twenty twenty three.
- 9:53Speaker 2: It was in the freezer. It's fine.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Basically, don't think about it.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Just eat it. I don't want to talk about how
- 9:59Speaker 2: long it can live in the freezer. The freezer makes
- 10:02Speaker 2: it invincible.
- 10:02Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it lives forever. Next, I've got a
- 10:05Speaker 4: money in from Tory who said we finally went to
- 10:07Speaker 4: the local farmer's market on a Sunday and we only
- 10:10Speaker 4: spent twenty five dollars on all of our fruit and
- 10:12Speaker 4: ven for the week for two adults. Oh, it was
- 10:14Speaker 4: really well organized and quiet because they went super early.
- 10:18Speaker 4: They've decided to make it a little weekly rituals. So
- 10:20Speaker 4: now all they need to do is a top hoop
- 10:22Speaker 4: shop at Woolly's and for the first time in years,
- 10:24Speaker 4: their groceries were less than one hundred dollars.
- 10:26Speaker 2: That's such a good deal. Every time I go to
- 10:28Speaker 2: the farmer's market, guys, it is a slippery slowe.
- 10:30Speaker 4: I get sucked in.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm like, Oh, that boutique granola I definitely need
- 10:35Speaker 2: to purchase. Oh you make butter, Yeah, you make hanchhin
- 10:38Speaker 2: butter fantastic. You make freeze dried dog treats like I am.
- 10:43Speaker 2: It's a slippery, slow It's not a cheap experience. Twenty
- 10:46Speaker 2: five dollars. I can get around to that.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Well done, really good, good job tory next to all
- 10:50Speaker 4: the money in from aunt who said after a post
- 10:53Speaker 4: that went up in the group that some of you
- 10:54Speaker 4: guys might have seen. It was about the Microsoft Office
- 10:56Speaker 4: subscription increase. We've all seen that. She had a chat
- 11:00Speaker 4: with her coworker about it and realized that because their
- 11:03Speaker 4: workplace pays for them to have obviously the Microsoft Suite
- 11:07Speaker 4: on their laptops, they also have access to that on
- 11:10Speaker 4: their personal devices. So she can just forego the subscription,
- 11:14Speaker 4: get out of here, get about it. Probably painted for
- 11:17Speaker 4: a while, Yeah she should. I've used Microsoft Word like
- 11:19Speaker 4: two times in the last year for personal use. Really
- 11:22Speaker 4: frustrated that I was paying all this money. But good
- 11:24Speaker 4: to know I don't need.
- 11:24Speaker 5: To total thing about Word is that you either never
- 11:27Speaker 5: need it or when you need it, you need it.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Dos when that situation arived docs.
- 11:34Speaker 4: True, and that's like free.
- 11:35Speaker 2: It's free sheets instead of yes, so right, I do
- 11:39Speaker 2: love Excel. Don't try and get pry that from her culture. Apologies,
- 11:44Speaker 2: it just doesn't work the same on Google sheets. It's
- 11:47Speaker 2: just not the same. That's fair.
- 11:49Speaker 4: That's not fair, all right, carry on? Sorry from Alisha
- 11:53Speaker 4: who said she shopped at Aldi. She went to take
- 11:56Speaker 4: her trolley back and she saw that somebody had left
- 11:58Speaker 4: theirs in the car park. The worst kind of people.
- 12:00Speaker 4: So she took the great back and got herself a
- 12:02Speaker 4: free token little because she there.
- 12:05Speaker 2: You go love that.
- 12:06Speaker 4: And lastly, I have a personal money in did you
- 12:09Speaker 4: put in the group?
- 12:10Speaker 2: I didn't, Actually I should.
- 12:12Speaker 4: I'll put it on the thread. Money in for me,
- 12:13Speaker 4: money in for community member Sophie the Queen you may
- 12:16Speaker 4: remember a couple of weeks ago, I said, I was
- 12:18Speaker 4: devastated because my beloved like forty year old tupperware microwave
- 12:23Speaker 4: rice cooker.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Yes, the community pulled through, Jessica sld something less.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Sophie slid into my DMS and said, is this what
- 12:32Speaker 4: you're looking for? And firstly, I'm shocked that she knew
- 12:35Speaker 4: from vague my very poor description of what it was
- 12:39Speaker 4: of this very specific tool.
- 12:40Speaker 2: She has one.
- 12:41Speaker 4: It looks brand, it has the like the instruction manual.
- 12:47Speaker 4: I did not pitch that. Yeah, so the lid the
- 12:49Speaker 4: rascus and there the lids, gotcha. That's what broke on mine.
- 12:52Speaker 4: One of those little clippy handles. There's an extra piece
- 12:56Speaker 4: that mine doesn't have.
- 12:57Speaker 2: So great. Yeah, pretty much. You bought this from this girl.
- 13:00Speaker 4: I shured it and she was so lovely. She's like,
- 13:02Speaker 4: I believe in paying it for you don't have to,
- 13:03Speaker 4: and I was like, no, no, of course I'm going to
- 13:05Speaker 4: pay you. So money with her, She's just made some
- 13:07Speaker 4: extra cash because apparently I was sitting on using her
- 13:09Speaker 4: cupboard and money win for me. I don't have to
- 13:11Speaker 4: pay one hundred and fifty dollars one on eBay.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Oh my god, is so wholesome. Has been reunited with
- 13:20Speaker 2: the rice cooker. Oh lovely. We were all out late worrying.
- 13:25Speaker 4: It's always thought about it for months.
- 13:27Speaker 2: We definitely didn't forget about that.
- 13:30Speaker 4: We can rest good night's sleep.
- 13:34Speaker 2: So what broke? Tips? Have you?
- 13:35Speaker 1: Good?
- 13:35Speaker 2: Do they involve rice cooking?
- 13:37Speaker 4: I wish they did.
- 13:38Speaker 5: Let me think if I could think of one on
- 13:39Speaker 5: the spot. Honestly, rice cooking in general is just like
- 13:42Speaker 5: a broke honestly good no, no feeling good rice cooking
- 13:45Speaker 5: tip don't buy packet rice. You can make it at home.
- 13:48Speaker 5: You can make it a home you mater's huge bags
- 13:50Speaker 5: from coals.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Yeah, don't buy packet rice. Do you think it's only
- 13:54Speaker 2: like a dollar and that feels cheap being you know
- 13:57Speaker 2: what's cheaper cooking your own rice at home, And it's
- 13:59Speaker 2: always better. It is because it feels like you can
- 14:02Speaker 2: taste the loves that. I think you can taste the difference, genuinely,
- 14:05Speaker 2: like I reckon. Maybe this is not a good thing
- 14:08Speaker 2: for me to say, but I reckon in the blind
- 14:10Speaker 2: taste test, I could tell the difference. We're gonna make
- 14:13Speaker 2: that a video. Yeah, remember the time I was like, so,
- 14:16Speaker 2: I'm a diet coke girl. Do not drink coke zero?
- 14:19Speaker 2: Absolutely not. That to me is trash water. Absolutely not
- 14:24Speaker 2: pepsi over here pepsi Max. Jess loves pepsi Max. Also
- 14:28Speaker 2: trash water, Like I have so much trash to talk about.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Pepsi and coke zero absolutely not diet coke though, love
- 14:35Speaker 2: of my life, I don't know. Oh, absolutely So. I've
- 14:39Speaker 2: been quite aggressive about this as you can tell, Brook
- 14:43Speaker 2: from our team made me do a blind taste test
- 14:45Speaker 2: of all the different cokes. Turns out I couldn't tell.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Oh my god, how the brain, isn't it? And apparently,
- 14:54Speaker 2: I say apparently because I think that she foiled me.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I told her that the Coked zero tasted the best.
- 15:01Speaker 4: I'm all, yeah, I would like right now.
- 15:06Speaker 2: So the fact that I am saying I could definitely
- 15:09Speaker 2: taste do you free between rice.
- 15:12Speaker 4: We'll report back to you on that one when we
- 15:13Speaker 4: film the next video. We will do that.
- 15:15Speaker 2: We will do that.
- 15:16Speaker 5: So this first one comes from I'm so sorry. I
- 15:18Speaker 5: don't actually know your name, but we have been chatting.
- 15:20Speaker 5: But super Over I'll call you that because that's actually
- 15:22Speaker 5: kind of cool. Super and Never says every few months
- 15:25Speaker 5: moondog World has a day we can fill up any
- 15:28Speaker 5: size to container with.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Fizzle for free, any size.
- 15:32Speaker 4: I think that's there.
- 15:33Speaker 5: Sel celt Selter. That's called Seltzer, And I know Seltzer
- 15:37Speaker 5: is actually soda water in the US. So if you're
- 15:39Speaker 5: listening in the US, I'm talking about seltz oh not selter.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Wait, so soda water here is seltzer in America? I
- 15:49Speaker 2: think so?
- 15:50Speaker 4: But here Seltzer is your bod.
- 15:54Speaker 5: It's an alcoholic So what are you doing taking an eski?
- 15:58Speaker 5: You could take anything and feel it all the way out.
- 16:01Speaker 2: What's the most rogue container you can think of? Well,
- 16:04Speaker 2: I'm thinking like a bird bath or something. I have
- 16:08Speaker 2: a lack of creativity. I'm like Jerry can Jerry can shoe. Okay,
- 16:16Speaker 2: a cup is bigger than a I'm just gonna take
- 16:19Speaker 2: a cup free seven.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Yeah, totally totally.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Thing like like you go to like Bunnings and buy
- 16:28Speaker 5: like a whole new bathtub. Yes, a blue shell swimming pool.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Yes, you could do. Yes, I liked this. We could
- 16:35Speaker 2: get quite creative. What else have you got? Oh?
- 16:37Speaker 5: Yes, this next one comes from gem who I did
- 16:40Speaker 5: not know this and maybe a lot of people do.
- 16:41Speaker 5: But optometrists can bulk bill. So Jem got an examination,
- 16:46Speaker 5: eye drops and a minor procedure on Medicare. And I've
- 16:49Speaker 5: been avoiding the optometrist for you know, nothing major, just
- 16:53Speaker 5: like I need to get new glasses, and I know
- 16:55Speaker 5: that they do prescriptions for free depending on where you go,
- 16:59Speaker 5: But I not know about the rest of this stuff.
- 17:01Speaker 5: So if you've been avoiding interest.
- 17:03Speaker 2: I've just been avoiding it. So I don't want to
- 17:04Speaker 2: wear glasses, but I get headaches in the afternoon, and
- 17:06Speaker 2: I'm convinced any glasses. I don't want cock contact lenses.
- 17:11Speaker 2: There's nothing wrong with it. What's wrong with glasses? Both
- 17:14Speaker 2: of you say wearing glasses. It's the idea that I
- 17:18Speaker 2: would have to pick out something that looked good on me,
- 17:21Speaker 2: and I really struggle with the idea of sunglasses, and
- 17:24Speaker 2: then the idea that I feel like it's a new
- 17:26Speaker 2: personality trait. It really is, because when I ask my
- 17:29Speaker 2: friends and then people are get to comment on it consistently.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Oh did you get glasses? Yes, I can't see Belinda.
- 17:37Speaker 5: I don't like the sounds as Blinda, but I as.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Friends with Sharon.
- 17:41Speaker 5: It really is a new identity because when I ask
- 17:43Speaker 5: my friends, now, when you picture me, do you pitch
- 17:45Speaker 5: me with glasses or without glasses?
- 17:46Speaker 2: With glasses?
- 17:48Speaker 5: I still picture myself without glasses when I think of myself.
- 17:51Speaker 5: But because I this is you know, a few years,
- 17:54Speaker 5: so that's not my whole life. So I'm like, it
- 17:56Speaker 5: is weird how other people perceive you and see some
- 17:58Speaker 5: one glass.
- 17:58Speaker 2: It's like when I see my day without glasses.
- 18:03Speaker 4: Something, Yeah, that's not my dadases, I never wanted to
- 18:07Speaker 4: be that person.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Now I'm that person. Unfortunately, can't go back. But they
- 18:10Speaker 2: suit you so like, do you even need to see
- 18:11Speaker 2: the optometrists because you don't look like you need new ones?
- 18:14Speaker 4: Thank you so much. You look like I need new ones.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 18:22Speaker 4: You're saying, I don't want to look at you anymore.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Luckily I can't. But what's your broke tip? I'm so sorry,
- 18:33Speaker 2: that's okay, it's probably for the best.
- 18:36Speaker 4: My broke tip is it's stolen.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Okay, it's stolen. Thank you so much.
- 18:41Speaker 4: A friend of mine said, it's.
- 18:43Speaker 2: The best type of broke tip, exactly for it exactly.
- 18:46Speaker 5: My friend says, if you get an overnight trip, say
- 18:49Speaker 5: you're like doing a lot of travel, and I guess
- 18:51Speaker 5: this is more so if you're like going overseas for
- 18:53Speaker 5: like six months, trying as many overnight trips as you
- 18:55Speaker 5: can because you're saving on accommodation.
- 18:58Speaker 4: That's a great one.
- 18:59Speaker 5: You know, they're really good, Yes, everything, overnight everything, and
- 19:05Speaker 5: then you're yeah, exactly, rely tired, I know. But if
- 19:08Speaker 5: you get if you get yourself a cabin on a bus,
- 19:11Speaker 5: that's a good idea. Combining two things travel and travel hat.
- 19:15Speaker 2: I wonder how many people have now decided this year
- 19:18Speaker 2: is like their year to do travel.
- 19:20Speaker 4: I want to travel this year, So that where you're
- 19:22Speaker 4: going to go, I don't know, for a house.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Relatable, but also you're not broke. I have seen your savings.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I want to do. I really want to do a
- 19:34Speaker 2: Disney cruise.
- 19:38Speaker 4: They're pretty new here and they look so fun, but
- 19:41Speaker 4: they're very expensive from.
- 19:42Speaker 2: What I've heard, are they Disney? What happens on a
- 19:45Speaker 2: Disney cruise? I'm not going to lie. I'm not going
- 19:47Speaker 2: to lie. In fact, I'm going to be brutally honest.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Not your idea of good time.
- 19:50Speaker 2: No, I've never done a cruise, so I just the
- 19:54Speaker 2: idea of being stuck on a ship does not sound entertaining.
- 19:57Speaker 4: For Disney specifically that.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Selling you do you want to wait until Harvey is
- 20:02Speaker 2: old enough to want to go on a cruise, because
- 20:04Speaker 2: I feel like that would make it from anywhere.
- 20:12Speaker 4: She's on the ship, she's on the show guards start
- 20:14Speaker 4: Harvey in a little sailor hat, stop Sailors. Absolutely, we'll do.
- 20:18Speaker 2: It Harvy with Mickey ears.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Oh, that's very cute.
- 20:21Speaker 5: And when we do our she's on the ship we
- 20:24Speaker 5: have to be speaking in like she's on the four
- 20:26Speaker 5: Seas seas, let's be our whole identity.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Did you say that the Disney cruise was really expensive?
- 20:34Speaker 2: Because if you work for Disney Cruises, I think you
- 20:36Speaker 2: should call us because.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Voice acting future, that's incredible.
- 20:42Speaker 2: I feel like Beck would go on a Disney cruise.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I think I reckon Emma, our producer, would
- 20:47Speaker 2: go on to Disney cruise. I feel like we're all
- 20:49Speaker 2: going on to Disney cruise.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Someone's got to know someone say less, yes, someone out
- 20:52Speaker 5: there if you know something.
- 20:54Speaker 4: Night trips though, genius, Yes, you do it on a ship.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Can't out on a cruise because that's the whole holiday,
- 21:00Speaker 2: the whole time.
- 21:01Speaker 4: Yes, from Melbourne and Tasmania overnight or you.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Could yes, I don't know if this is taking it
- 21:07Speaker 2: too far ago gas light yourself money and that's and
- 21:16Speaker 2: book a cruise, but then tell everybody you got free
- 21:19Speaker 2: accommodation because you spent it all on your transport. There
- 21:22Speaker 2: you go, yes, go on overpriced cruise?
- 21:29Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Disney, if you want to call us, we would do
- 21:33Speaker 2: a whole is It Worth It? Series? But we really
- 21:35Speaker 2: would and we will be worth it. We take the
- 21:37Speaker 2: whole team.
- 21:39Speaker 4: The more the merrier, right, absolutely, all right.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Let's move on from this. We're going to go to
- 21:43Speaker 2: a break. We're going to calm down. After we get back.
- 21:46Speaker 2: We aren't going to be talking about digney cruises. We're
- 21:48Speaker 2: going to be talking about whether you should re mortgage
- 21:50Speaker 2: your current home loan to get an offset account. And
- 21:54Speaker 2: you slid into our dams about something this week. You
- 21:57Speaker 2: want to know who's right in a wedding guest list drama,
- 22:00Speaker 2: and so do we. So don't go anywhere.
- 22:06Speaker 4: Welcome back, everybody. Let's take a listen to the money Dilemma.

- 22:28Speaker 6: just find yourself on the show. Now, let's take a
- 22:30Speaker 6: listen to this week's money dilemma.
- 22:34Speaker 7: Hi, guys, I just wanted some advice on my husband
- 22:38Speaker 7: and ies. Not really money problem, but maybe money advice.
- 22:42Speaker 7: We have a five figure healthy savings fund at the moment,
- 22:47Speaker 7: and it's currently sitting in an offset account gaining interest,
- 22:52Speaker 7: and we were wondering if we should pop that into
- 22:56Speaker 7: a mortgage offset account. But plot twist, our mortgage account
- 23:01Speaker 7: currently won't allow us to have an offset as that's
- 23:05Speaker 7: just the type of mortgage loan it is. Do we
- 23:09Speaker 7: change our mortgage to a different mortgage loan where we
- 23:14Speaker 7: can get an offset account so we can reap the
- 23:16Speaker 7: benefits of these five biggest savings funds, or do we
- 23:19Speaker 7: leave it in our savings fund that we have it
- 23:21Speaker 7: in at the moment that's currently gaining interest. Any insight
- 23:26Speaker 7: would be amazing, thank you.
- 23:28Speaker 4: I think in the word salad of trying to get
- 23:31Speaker 4: so many technical things out, I'm assuming our listener meant
- 23:34Speaker 4: she has her money currently in a savings account, not
- 23:38Speaker 4: set right. We're going to operate on the assumption that
- 23:39Speaker 4: that's what you're saying. I know it's very overwhelming when
- 23:41Speaker 4: you try and get it all in one take. You
- 23:43Speaker 4: did a good job, but we're going to assume that
- 23:45Speaker 4: that's what you mean.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Okay, I want to know because I've done the maths
- 23:49Speaker 2: or I'm currently doing the maths and we'll do the
- 23:51Speaker 2: maths while you guys are talking. That's the plan here.
- 23:54Speaker 2: I'm hoping you go long enough so that I can
- 23:56Speaker 2: do the math Sure, but what would you do, jess Well.
- 23:59Speaker 4: I think you do the maths is the answer. So
- 24:02Speaker 4: this isn't probably an interesting addendum because I feel like
- 24:05Speaker 4: maybe not everybody knows that not all mortgages have offsets
- 24:09Speaker 4: or redraws or things like that.
- 24:11Speaker 2: An offset.
- 24:12Speaker 4: If you don't know, you should. You should listen to
- 24:14Speaker 4: the property player. But if you haven't, that's okay. An
- 24:16Speaker 4: offset is where you put money in to an account
- 24:20Speaker 4: and it shockingly offsets your mortgage. So if you had
- 24:23Speaker 4: one hundred thousand dollars mortgage and you put ten thousand
- 24:26Speaker 4: dollars like this person was saying into their offset account,
- 24:29Speaker 4: you'd only be paying interest on ninety thousand dollars. It's
- 24:32Speaker 4: taking it off the top. Basically, an account.
- 24:34Speaker 2: That works exactly operates the same and just link to
- 24:37Speaker 2: the mortgage.
- 24:37Speaker 4: It's a link to the mortgage. You can take money out,
- 24:40Speaker 4: is like you'ine you can put money and take money out.
- 24:42Speaker 4: So it's appealing because it's not as if you've paid
- 24:45Speaker 4: the money to the mortgage or into an investment where
- 24:48Speaker 4: it's harder to access. You can still get to it,
- 24:50Speaker 4: but there is obviously the added benefit of offsetting the interest,
- 24:54Speaker 4: reducing the amount of interest that you pay over the
- 24:57Speaker 4: long term. But not all of them have it. I
- 24:59Speaker 4: think maybe some people assume that just they all do,
- 25:01Speaker 4: which isn't the case.
- 25:02Speaker 2: That isn't the case. It's like a bells and whistle
- 25:04Speaker 2: additional thing. It's not a standard inclusion on a mortgage,
- 25:09Speaker 2: and often you'll find that they're not the cheapest. Like
- 25:15Speaker 2: that's not to say that you shouldn't do it, but
- 25:16Speaker 2: like you might go to I don't know if you've
- 25:18Speaker 2: seen the ads for Athena home loans, like they're everywhere
- 25:22Speaker 2: at the moment, and they say, I don't know, they've
- 25:24Speaker 2: got really good marketing. I shouldn't be promoting them because
- 25:26Speaker 2: they don't work with mortgage brokers, but they like basically
- 25:30Speaker 2: go love us and leave us. And the whole marketing
- 25:33Speaker 2: employee that they have is we have a low interest rate.
- 25:35Speaker 2: But like that's it. They don't have any bells, they
- 25:37Speaker 2: don't have any wisits. You can't have an offset, you
- 25:39Speaker 2: can't have a redraw, you can't link it to your banking.
- 25:42Speaker 2: There's a lot of restrictions on using that, and for
- 25:45Speaker 2: some people it works perfectly. For other people it doesn't
- 25:49Speaker 2: make a lot of sense. But that is okay. They're
- 25:51Speaker 2: quite is your thoughts.
- 25:52Speaker 4: So I would say you should be proud of yourself for.
- 26:00Speaker 5: Being in a position where you have to know what
- 26:01Speaker 5: these words are. Unfortunately I didn't understand a lot of that,
- 26:05Speaker 5: and so I don't have a lot of good advice,
- 26:08Speaker 5: but I do. I am big in big supportive offset accounts.
- 26:12Speaker 5: Based on what I've heard, I don't know what a
- 26:14Speaker 5: redraw is.
- 26:17Speaker 4: Similar functionality, so you're paying the money off of the mortgage,
- 26:22Speaker 4: but it allows you the functionality of taking it back
- 26:24Speaker 4: get it back is the I know they sound very
- 26:27Speaker 4: similar from my understanding, and VD is probably a got
- 26:31Speaker 4: a better insight than me. But from my understanding, a
- 26:33Speaker 4: red yeah, you know everything I know. A redraw there's
- 26:37Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 26:37Speaker 2: More hoops to get through.
- 26:39Speaker 4: Sure it's the offset, Like I could if I had
- 26:41Speaker 4: an offset on a mortgage, I would be able to
- 26:43Speaker 4: pick up my phone and be like, oh, I have
- 26:44Speaker 4: ten thousand dollars, I want to take five thousand dollars out.
- 26:47Speaker 4: I can do that right now. From my banking I
- 26:49Speaker 4: think with the redraw it's the redrawer looks similar, but
- 26:51Speaker 4: the bank you're kind of at the bank's mercy. So
- 26:54Speaker 4: if we went into economic crisis and the banks were
- 26:57Speaker 4: kind of like locking their doors down a bit, and
- 27:00Speaker 4: they're like, oh, Jess has one hundred thousand dollars that
- 27:02Speaker 4: she could redraw, we're actually going to cap everybody's mortgages
- 27:05Speaker 4: and say you can only redraw thirty thousand dollars. You
- 27:07Speaker 4: can't access your full hundred thousand dollars. We know you
- 27:09Speaker 4: did that, but we're just like going to put a
- 27:11Speaker 4: restriction on it, ok. And so that restriction.
- 27:14Speaker 2: I don't love the idea of whereas an offset account
- 27:17Speaker 2: is your bank account BECK that is just tied. It's
- 27:20Speaker 2: like in a relationship, it's married to your mortgage, and
- 27:23Speaker 2: therefore anything in that offsets the interest that is payable
- 27:27Speaker 2: on your mortgage. So let's just say you've got a
- 27:30Speaker 2: home loan BECK of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars
- 27:33Speaker 2: and then you've got thirty grand in an offset account.
- 27:36Speaker 2: In that situation, when you go to pay interest every
- 27:40Speaker 2: single month on the mortgage that you have you're actually
- 27:43Speaker 2: only paying interest on two hundred and twenty thousand dollars
- 27:46Speaker 2: because the bank goes okay, so you've got to turn
- 27:48Speaker 2: her a fifty thousand dollars mortgage. You've got thirty thousand
- 27:51Speaker 2: dollars in an offset account. We are going to look
- 27:53Speaker 2: at those two things, subtract one from the other, and
- 27:56Speaker 2: only charge you interest on two hundred and twenty thousand dollars.
- 28:00Speaker 2: So that actually means that financially you're ahead. Now, going
- 28:05Speaker 2: with the example that you said, Jess, you said, I
- 28:07Speaker 2: think they meant high interest savings account. Yes, and so
- 28:10Speaker 2: do I. I think that's pretty clear. At the moment,
- 28:13Speaker 2: high interest savings accounts sound really sexy, like five and
- 28:17Speaker 2: a half percent on average, I would say, is like
- 28:20Speaker 2: the normal high interest savings account amount sounds really sexy
- 28:24Speaker 2: until I tell you have to remember tax. So any
- 28:28Speaker 2: dollar you earn in Australia is taxable income. That includes
- 28:33Speaker 2: the interest that you earn in your high interest savings account.
- 28:37Speaker 2: That is why you have to report it on your
- 28:39Speaker 2: tax return, and you might be up for some tax
- 28:42Speaker 2: on the flip side if you put your money into
- 28:46Speaker 2: your offset account and that offsets the amount of interest
- 28:49Speaker 2: you pay, there's no tax occurring because you never actually
- 28:53Speaker 2: made money, you just saved money. Yeah. Ah, so if
- 28:57Speaker 2: your marginal tax rate is thirty two and a half cents,
- 29:00Speaker 2: you're going to lose thirty two and a half sense
- 29:02Speaker 2: if that five and a half percent that you're paying
- 29:04Speaker 2: or that you're making, so you're losing that, you're going
- 29:08Speaker 2: to gain that back by using an offset account instead.
- 29:11Speaker 2: So I've done some maths. As you guys know, I
- 29:14Speaker 2: own a mortgage broking business, so this is kind of
- 29:16Speaker 2: second nature to me. Let's say you have a five
- 29:18Speaker 2: hundred thousand dollar alone. Let's pretend you got it yesterday,
- 29:21Speaker 2: because then I can say it's a thirty year term
- 29:23Speaker 2: on average. At the moment, they call it a comparison rate.
- 29:27Speaker 2: A comparison rate for a mortgage is about seven percent.
- 29:30Speaker 2: So we're going to use seven percent or maybe seven
- 29:32Speaker 2: and a half percent as an interest rate. I'm not
- 29:34Speaker 2: saying that's what your mortgage would be at, but I'm
- 29:36Speaker 2: seeing a lot of people with that mortgage interest rate.
- 29:39Speaker 5: Right now, do you mand of fact, we ask what
- 29:40Speaker 5: the difference between comparison ry and interest rate.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Is, It's just the comparison across the industry average. I see,
- 29:47Speaker 2: I see, I see. So let's just say it's seven
- 29:49Speaker 2: and a half percent. Like when I say that, on average,
- 29:53Speaker 2: people are getting mortgages at about that at the moment,
- 29:55Speaker 2: and that includes like your investment properties and your owner
- 29:57Speaker 2: occupier property. Is just the easiest way to talk about
- 30:00Speaker 2: it without promising you a particular interest rate from a
- 30:03Speaker 2: particular bank. And let's just say you've got I don't know,
- 30:06Speaker 2: you've got fifty grand in your offset account. So we've
- 30:08Speaker 2: put fifty thousand dollars in your offset account. If you
- 30:12Speaker 2: are putting it in your offset account instead of into
- 30:16Speaker 2: a savings account, it could actually save you nine years
- 30:20Speaker 2: and three months off your mortgage, saving you a total
- 30:24Speaker 2: of three hundred and eighty nine thousand, nine hundred and
- 30:27Speaker 2: fifty four dollars very tighty. So that means that on
- 30:31Speaker 2: your thirty year mortgage, if you had that in your
- 30:34Speaker 2: savings account, obviously like it would grow a little bit
- 30:37Speaker 2: over time. But using the example I just laid out,
- 30:42Speaker 2: the individual in that situation, because I can't give you
- 30:45Speaker 2: personal advice, the individual in a situation I laid out
- 30:48Speaker 2: would be better off using an offset account instead of
- 30:51Speaker 2: behind a savings account because they're not paying tax, they're
- 30:54Speaker 2: saving on interest. And then that interest is or they're
- 30:58Speaker 2: saving on interest is meaning that they are paying their
- 31:01Speaker 2: mortgage off sooner. That means you're getting nine nearly ten
- 31:04Speaker 2: years back, meaning you could invest that money over that
- 31:07Speaker 2: period of times. A hypothetical. Of course, we're all about
- 31:11Speaker 2: hypotheticals in the world where we're not allowed to give
- 31:13Speaker 2: personal So.
- 31:16Speaker 4: Is it fair to say, and I got off this wrong?
- 31:18Speaker 4: Is it fair to say that The other thing that
- 31:20Speaker 4: they would maybe want to consider is, let's say they
- 31:24Speaker 4: were really smart and really lucky and they locked in
- 31:27Speaker 4: a much lower interest rate. Yes, so say, like you know,
- 31:30Speaker 4: during COVID when you get straight like four percent or
- 31:32Speaker 4: three percent, if they locked that in and they were
- 31:35Speaker 4: still getting that, it's worth keeping in mind that by
- 31:39Speaker 4: refinancing to get a new mortgage that includes an officense,
- 31:42Speaker 4: you may be taking on a higher interest rate.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Yes, that is absolutely correct, and that is why you
- 31:47Speaker 2: need to talk to a mortgage broker to do all
- 31:49Speaker 2: of this for you. It's a mortgage broker is bound
- 31:52Speaker 2: to make sure that you're always in a better position
- 31:55Speaker 2: because of the recommendations that they make. So like you
- 31:58Speaker 2: could go to them and be like, hey, I've got
- 31:59Speaker 2: this great and I think I want an offset if
- 32:01Speaker 2: it's financially viable. If the mortgage broker can't put you
- 32:04Speaker 2: in a better situation, they're going to have to tell you, hey, babe,
- 32:06Speaker 2: I can't put you in a better situation. I mean,
- 32:08Speaker 2: I could do this, but it's not as good as
- 32:09Speaker 2: what you've got and you can go great, Thank you.
- 32:11Speaker 4: So much to my friend. It was like, this is
- 32:13Speaker 4: the best, Like if you change it would be worse
- 32:14Speaker 4: for you.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and like, come and see as Zella mortgage broker,
- 32:18Speaker 2: because that's literally one of our favorite things to do.
- 32:21Speaker 2: I want to get a better deal for you. Gin
- 32:23Speaker 2: know how exciting it is to be like I saved
- 32:25Speaker 2: you this amount, and we always want to do the numbers.
- 32:27Speaker 2: It's one of the reasons why I literally love what
- 32:30Speaker 2: we do. Firstly, we get people into their first homes,
- 32:33Speaker 2: so exciting. But then I'm like, hey, beck I can
- 32:37Speaker 2: save you three hundred thousand dollars and I'm going to
- 32:39Speaker 2: help you pay off your mortgage soon. Isn't that exciting?
- 32:42Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 32:42Speaker 2: Exciting, so fun, But essentially you would pay off your
- 32:45Speaker 2: mortgage much quicker, and that needs to be taken into
- 32:49Speaker 2: account as well, because what are you going to do
- 32:51Speaker 2: with the mortgage of payments? Like are you investing that?
- 32:54Speaker 2: Are you saving that? What's the power of that money
- 32:56Speaker 2: that you could have for an additional nine years? So
- 32:59Speaker 2: you're not just talking about the fifty thousand dollars you
- 33:01Speaker 2: have in your offset account. You're also talking about the
- 33:03Speaker 2: power of the money you don't have today that you
- 33:05Speaker 2: will have in the future. That's free cash flow.
- 33:08Speaker 4: Huge.
- 33:08Speaker 2: And if I had more time, I would do the
- 33:10Speaker 2: financial advice thing and extrapolate that out, but we just
- 33:12Speaker 2: don't have time. Chat to a broker, Chat to a
- 33:15Speaker 2: mortgage broker. I know a lot of good ones that
- 33:19Speaker 2: I have a personal affiliation with me.
- 33:21Speaker 4: Well, I will link to that in the show notes.
- 33:22Speaker 4: If you'd like to chatch one of the queens at Zeala,
- 33:25Speaker 4: can we get you.
- 33:25Speaker 2: A better interest rate? Like yes, yes, that's the plan.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Scene and then once you're a Zella client, we literally
- 33:31Speaker 2: check every six months anyway, so that you never have
- 33:33Speaker 2: to ask a mortgage broker again. We'll call you with
- 33:36Speaker 2: a better deal.
- 33:37Speaker 4: Sign me up, it's a good deal. Well, should we
- 33:39Speaker 4: get into the spicy DM from this week?
- 33:40Speaker 2: Yes, or are you ready to sit down? It's about weddings,
- 33:43Speaker 2: so you know it's going to get spicy.
- 33:44Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 33:45Speaker 2: Hi, friends, my cousin is getting married next year and
- 33:48Speaker 2: I am so excited to get together with all the family.
- 33:51Speaker 2: But we have a big family. I just found out
- 33:55Speaker 2: one of my cousins has RSVP'd no because she didn't
- 33:58Speaker 2: get a plus one for her boyfriend to come as well.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Weddings are so expensive, and I think the fact that
- 34:04Speaker 2: every cousin in our big family is invited in the
- 34:06Speaker 2: first place is amazing, and I think she's being really selfish.
- 34:09Speaker 2: But the boomers in the family think it's fine and
- 34:12Speaker 2: think she should have been given off plus one to
- 34:14Speaker 2: begin with. I want to hear your thoughts.
- 34:19Speaker 5: I mean, I don't I'm just basing this off my friends' wedding.
- 34:26Speaker 5: I've probably gone to like two in my life, and
- 34:28Speaker 5: they are so so expensive. I totally get it. If
- 34:33Speaker 5: you have especially yeah, if you have a big family,
- 34:35Speaker 5: if you have a lot of friends, you have to.
- 34:37Speaker 5: It's like that thing when you invite someone out, like
- 34:40Speaker 5: for work drinks. You're like, oh, well, if invite this person,
- 34:42Speaker 5: I've got to invite this person in. It just like
- 34:43Speaker 5: the list grows and grows and grows, and then so
- 34:46Speaker 5: you're like, before you know it, there's like one hundred
- 34:48Speaker 5: people that you must invite. There's no ifsoorbuts about it.
- 34:51Speaker 5: And then imagine eighty percent of these people have a
- 34:56Speaker 5: partner or like even if FI whatever, Okay, well now
- 35:01Speaker 5: it's like one hundred and eighty people.
- 35:03Speaker 4: It's just not feasible. It's just not possible to have.
- 35:06Speaker 5: Because that's like I understand that in your one individual
- 35:09Speaker 5: situation where you're like maybe you've been with your partner
- 35:11Speaker 5: for ten years and they're part of the family, and
- 35:15Speaker 5: you're like, why the heck not, why does this person
- 35:18Speaker 5: not get an invite? That is weird or it could
- 35:20Speaker 5: be something you just said dating. Either way, if you're
- 35:23Speaker 5: looking at your own situation and that's your because it
- 35:27Speaker 5: makes sense, like that's your reality. Your reality is everything
- 35:30Speaker 5: to you, that's all you're living. And so you're like,
- 35:33Speaker 5: my partner is not invited.
- 35:34Speaker 2: That sucks.
- 35:35Speaker 4: But if you zoom out, as VD says, zoom.
- 35:38Speaker 5: Out and be like, oh, actually, like five hundred people
- 35:41Speaker 5: are probably complaining about the same thing, like why is
- 35:45Speaker 5: it my partner? And you're like Okay, well, actually they
- 35:47Speaker 5: don't have exactly double what they initially had budget wise,
- 35:51Speaker 5: just miraculously like accessible to them.
- 35:54Speaker 2: So I understand.
- 35:55Speaker 5: I totally get it, like that would feel really crappy,
- 35:57Speaker 5: but it's like you must taken to consideration that if
- 36:01Speaker 5: you're saying it, probably like many other people are saying it,
- 36:05Speaker 5: and that's just not realistic.
- 36:07Speaker 4: Okay, I need to talk about this in three separate sections.
- 36:12Speaker 2: I love how Jess's brain works. You're so good, guys,
- 36:15Speaker 2: this is literally how she works at work. Well, so
- 36:19Speaker 2: do you want to just have a quick chat? And
- 36:20Speaker 2: She's like all right. So I've got three different scenarios
- 36:24Speaker 2: to start at the top.
- 36:25Speaker 4: I want to say, the cousin who pulled out because
- 36:27Speaker 4: she couldn't have her partner, I'm going to say, Okay, like,
- 36:31Speaker 4: as an anxious girl, if you don't want to go,
- 36:34Speaker 4: if something's not right for you, I get it, I
- 36:36Speaker 4: don't want to you don't verbally punish you for that.
- 36:40Speaker 4: That being said, I do think there is a bit
- 36:41Speaker 4: of a difference between a cousin and a friend from
- 36:47Speaker 4: ten years I agree. That was going to be my
- 36:49Speaker 4: point because I think if you're a cousin, you presumably
- 36:52Speaker 4: maybe have other cousins, other family, you know, other people
- 36:54Speaker 4: at the wedding. I think that if you were childhood
- 36:58Speaker 4: best friend who is not going to know another soul
- 37:01Speaker 4: at this wedding, then I go, okay, like I can
- 37:04Speaker 4: see why that would maybe push you go or why
- 37:08Speaker 4: there would be a strong But.
- 37:10Speaker 2: You just said that you're a really big family and
- 37:11Speaker 2: you can't wait to get together with all the cousins.
- 37:14Speaker 4: So like that is not really making sense to you
- 37:16Speaker 4: got a friend there, bro, you got many, it sounds like.
- 37:19Speaker 4: But then my overarching feeling on this conversation is no pay,
- 37:24Speaker 4: no say if you are not paying, if you're not
- 37:28Speaker 4: paying for the wedding, take your opinion and shove it
- 37:31Speaker 4: with a sudden I'm sorry. Like so, I saw this
- 37:36Speaker 4: conversation happen, and I don't want to say you too,
- 37:38Speaker 4: but I saw this compensation happened with someone very close to.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Me, and I was.
- 37:43Speaker 4: Stressed getting the tea after stress that this girl was
- 37:46Speaker 4: going through. Yeah, there's a bit of tea, you guys,
- 37:48Speaker 4: after the stress, the stress that this girl was going
- 37:52Speaker 4: through because family was saying, oh, you need to invite
- 37:56Speaker 4: these people. People should never met like you in the
- 37:59Speaker 4: a D and I should acknowledge. I know that there
- 38:03Speaker 4: is you know, in different cultures, there's certain things. I
- 38:06Speaker 4: don't want to overstep there because I don't you know,
- 38:09Speaker 4: that's not my free situation.
- 38:11Speaker 2: We are talking astral opinion, that we're talking correct white Australia. Yeah, white.
- 38:17Speaker 4: But it is such an old idea that everyone needs
- 38:20Speaker 4: to every uncle, cousin, grandpa, grandpa's best friend from down
- 38:24Speaker 4: the road, you know. And I just think, lud, exactly
- 38:28Speaker 4: what you were saying. If it's not up to anybody,
- 38:31Speaker 4: it's about the bride and groom. I mean, it's your
- 38:34Speaker 4: call or bright and bride or groom and groom or no,
- 38:36Speaker 4: you know, you.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Could just say the couple. The couple would make some
- 38:42Speaker 2: You can't get married legally yet, Oh is that so
- 38:46Speaker 2: you can only marry one person? Back that I get greedy?
- 38:49Speaker 5: Greedy, Well got a ways, that's why we got to
- 38:52Speaker 5: get divorced.
- 38:53Speaker 2: We get married again.
- 38:54Speaker 4: See, I'm sorry, guys, running on not a lot of sleep.
- 38:58Speaker 4: If you're allowed, you're.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Trying to plain. But I just have been colorful and excited.
- 39:03Speaker 2: Yeah I am.
- 39:03Speaker 4: I'm over excited and underslept, and it's not a good
- 39:06Speaker 4: combination for me, no pay no say that to ry Matte.
- 39:08Speaker 4: If you're not paying for the wedding, if you're not
- 39:10Speaker 4: getting married, you actually you don't get an opinion. And
- 39:12Speaker 4: I'm so sorry. That's just how it should be.
- 39:14Speaker 2: I'm not sorry. I'm glad you apologized. I'm doubling down.
- 39:18Speaker 4: Okay, great, I feel supported.
- 39:20Speaker 2: I feel literally the same like as someone who had
- 39:24Speaker 2: a wedding. I'm grateful that I didn't have a lot
- 39:28Speaker 2: of pushback of people being like I need to bring
- 39:30Speaker 2: x y zed. But we did, like my husband and
- 39:32Speaker 2: I did have conversations about like, oh, who's this person?
- 39:36Speaker 2: Oh your mate from work, Like there was a group
- 39:39Speaker 2: of Steve's work friends that we invited without their partners. Yeah,
- 39:43Speaker 2: And we discussed it and said, well, I've never One
- 39:46Speaker 2: of the rules we implemented at our wedding was both
- 39:49Speaker 2: of us had to have met you for you to
- 39:51Speaker 2: get an invite to our wedding.
- 39:52Speaker 4: Great rules.
- 39:53Speaker 2: So if you got an invite to our wedding and
- 39:56Speaker 2: I had not met Jess's partner, I probably wouldn't have
- 39:59Speaker 2: invited Jessice. But I knew Jess's partner and I was like, hey,
- 40:01Speaker 2: Jess you're coming, but they're not over the top of that.
- 40:03Speaker 2: It would have been the same conversation of like, oh, well,
- 40:06Speaker 2: does Jess have friends there? Oh, Jess and Beck would
- 40:08Speaker 2: have come together. That's fine, Jess will sit with Beck.
- 40:10Speaker 2: She's got a friend. Is like the thought pattern. And
- 40:13Speaker 2: then if I didn't think that you would have had
- 40:15Speaker 2: a friend to your partner that I didn't know, would
- 40:18Speaker 2: have gotten invite. But honestly, if I'm trying to remember back, honestly,
- 40:22Speaker 2: if it got to that point, I think we would
- 40:24Speaker 2: have been like, why are we inviting Jess in it? Like,
- 40:27Speaker 2: obviously you were integral to my wedding, But it's one
- 40:30Speaker 2: of those things where it's like, well, if we don't
- 40:32Speaker 2: know their partner and you know, Jess has been with
- 40:34Speaker 2: that person for seven years, like why is this person
- 40:36Speaker 2: coming to my wedding and celebrating love if we've never
- 40:39Speaker 2: even celebrated theirs? Like yeah, anyway, So that was like
- 40:43Speaker 2: our kind of criteria. And then there's another theory I
- 40:46Speaker 2: want to introduce because I am reading more this year
- 40:50Speaker 2: and I want to read more nonfiction. So recently I
- 40:54Speaker 2: finished Mel Robbins's new book Let Them Let Them Guys
- 41:00Speaker 2: In don't let them bring someone, but like let them
- 41:03Speaker 2: talk shit, let them be mad. It's odd, Like that's
- 41:06Speaker 2: the decision I made. I'm dropping it there, I'm walking away. Yeah, sure, Sorry,
- 41:11Speaker 2: that's the decision I made. Thanks.
- 41:13Speaker 4: You don't get a say there's no pay no say.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Yeah exactly, And I mean Justice Book he's coming out.
- 41:18Speaker 2: It's called no pay No Say.
- 41:23Speaker 4: It's sounded so perfic. That's a motto.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that's my twenty twenty thrive nod say exactly.
- 41:32Speaker 4: You know, someone's definitely thought of it before.
- 41:34Speaker 2: But I'm gonna put it on T shirt for you.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Thank you. But I just feel like there's so much
- 41:40Speaker 2: nuance to this. But like if it's a group of cousins,
- 41:44Speaker 2: I feel like you've thought about why they're not getting
- 41:46Speaker 2: plus ones. Anyway, I can promise you that when a
- 41:49Speaker 2: bride and a groom or a groom and a groom
- 41:51Speaker 2: like all that, when someone sits down, when someone sits
- 41:54Speaker 2: down to plan a wedding, they don't go, we should
- 41:57Speaker 2: just invite Jess and not her partner. You don't go, oh,
- 42:01Speaker 2: get rid of them. It's about love, Like if you could,
- 42:06Speaker 2: you'd have everybody there, but then also having too many
- 42:09Speaker 2: people there might not suit the vibe you're going for either,
- 42:13Speaker 2: So like there's a lot of consideration that comes into it.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Because even with my wedding, I didn't want heaps of
- 42:20Speaker 2: people there. I mean, we ended up having one hundred
- 42:22Speaker 2: and twenty three people at our wedding, and to me,
- 42:26Speaker 2: that felt like so many people Like that felt like
- 42:28Speaker 2: a lot. In some weddings, you're going to be like
- 42:31Speaker 2: that's nothing. Be for other people, you're going to agree
- 42:33Speaker 2: and think that was a relatively large wedding. But like,
- 42:35Speaker 2: I remember when we first did our guest list, this
- 42:38Speaker 2: is going to be so bad.
- 42:39Speaker 4: I remember this too. You remember you agonized?
- 42:42Speaker 2: Yes, but also do you remember it was close to
- 42:44Speaker 2: two hundred guests. Crazy, it was like two hundred people.
- 42:49Speaker 2: And I just said to Steve, that's ridiculous, Like absolutely not,
- 42:52Speaker 2: Because I said, Steve, we guess what. We got a
- 42:56Speaker 2: spreadsheet and we both co contributed to it and basically
- 43:00Speaker 2: put every single person that we could think of that
- 43:02Speaker 2: might be invited to the wedding, not like a, oh,
- 43:05Speaker 2: we definitely want like I might be like, you know,
- 43:07Speaker 2: Jess was on it, but then also Steve's friend's friend
- 43:10Speaker 2: that we met once if he thought of them was
- 43:11Speaker 2: on it, and then we whittled it down and we
- 43:14Speaker 2: color coated it, and they were like green people that
- 43:17Speaker 2: were like, absolutely not, they have to be there. And
- 43:19Speaker 2: then we looked at the rest and there were people
- 43:21Speaker 2: in the list that I'd be like, who is that, Steve,
- 43:24Speaker 2: And then we would have a conversation about me literally,
- 43:27Speaker 2: who is that? Oh it's such and Slutch. I really
- 43:30Speaker 2: like them. I got a beer with them last year.
- 43:32Speaker 2: I used to work with Great. I don't know that person,
- 43:36Speaker 2: Why are they coming to my wedding?
- 43:38Speaker 4: Totally right?
- 43:39Speaker 2: And so we had this conversation, and thankfully Steve and
- 43:41Speaker 2: I are very much on the same page, so he
- 43:43Speaker 2: was like, yeah, fair call. And there were people that
- 43:45Speaker 2: I had added that he was like what ah, And
- 43:48Speaker 2: then there were conversations about, hey, should we give a
- 43:51Speaker 2: plus one to this person or this person? Like I
- 43:54Speaker 2: don't think there was one person at my wedding that
- 43:56Speaker 2: I had never met before. Yeah, because I was crazy
- 43:59Speaker 2: and I was like, it's just not happening. Yeah, but
- 44:02Speaker 2: like you've got to pick your battles and no pay
- 44:05Speaker 2: no say.
- 44:07Speaker 4: It's also like one of those things I think exactly
- 44:10Speaker 4: you said so many people. It's like, really, I've never
- 44:13Speaker 4: been married, but it seems like everyone really agonizes over
- 44:15Speaker 4: putting those lists together, Like it's not an easy thing
- 44:18Speaker 4: to meet your budget, your venue capacity, your trailer, all
- 44:21Speaker 4: of these things. Yeah, it seems like it's really hard
- 44:24Speaker 4: for people.
- 44:24Speaker 5: It is because the thing is also when you put
- 44:26Speaker 5: the invites out and you have no control over who's
- 44:29Speaker 5: talking to who, and like say, say someone's like, oh,
- 44:31Speaker 5: I've got an invite to this thing, and you know
- 44:33Speaker 5: that someone somewhere is like, oh, that's weird that she'd
- 44:35Speaker 5: invite me, and you don't have the opportunity to go
- 44:37Speaker 5: and explain everything to them. They're just out in the
- 44:39Speaker 5: world thinking that you don't like them as much as
- 44:42Speaker 5: they like you or whatever. So it's like this feeling
- 44:44Speaker 5: of like people are going to perceive that I don't
- 44:47Speaker 5: enjoy our friendship, and it's just you have no control
- 44:50Speaker 5: over that.
- 44:50Speaker 4: Once it's out, it's out, and that's it.
- 44:52Speaker 5: I've never been marriage. That's sound like I've done this before,
- 44:54Speaker 5: but cost.
- 44:56Speaker 2: And we're not just talking about like a little bit
- 44:59Speaker 2: like oh, it's just another seat, like totally events styling
- 45:03Speaker 2: for additional tablewhere for your food, your drink. Like, let's
- 45:07Speaker 2: just take a stab in the dark and say that
- 45:08Speaker 2: that costs, on average, two hundred and fifty dollars ahead.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Some weddings will be less, some weddings will be more.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Two hundred and fifty bucks ahead. Great, If ten people
- 45:18Speaker 2: want plus ones, that's another two and a half thousand
- 45:21Speaker 2: dollars to add to your wedding budget.
- 45:23Speaker 4: Crazy people are made of money.
- 45:25Speaker 2: That's insane to think that the plus one isn't Like
- 45:29Speaker 2: even if you're like, oh, well, I'll pay for my
- 45:31Speaker 2: plate or whatever, like, it's actually not the point. Like
- 45:35Speaker 2: if you didn't get a plus one, your question isn't
- 45:40Speaker 2: should I ask for one? Your question is am I
- 45:42Speaker 2: comfortable going on my own?
- 45:44Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 45:44Speaker 2: And if the answer is no, you can just RSVP no,
- 45:47Speaker 2: and you know what I can promise you if, for example,
- 45:51Speaker 2: I accidentally sent out an invite and my invite went
- 45:54Speaker 2: to Jessica and it didn't have a plus one, and
- 45:56Speaker 2: just was like, well, I'm not going to ask for
- 45:57Speaker 2: a plus one and she just said hey, sorry, Like
- 46:00Speaker 2: RSVP no, there's no drama. She just said no, like
- 46:02Speaker 2: because she doesn't want to go to that event. Because
- 46:04Speaker 2: I can promise you this is so savage. Nobody cares
- 46:07Speaker 2: about your wedding as much as you do. Nobody does
- 46:11Speaker 2: like Ess, It's just like I don't want to go
- 46:12Speaker 2: to that event. It's not important enough to me to
- 46:14Speaker 2: go on my own. And I was like, I really
- 46:17Speaker 2: want just there. I'm going to pick up the phone
- 46:18Speaker 2: and be like, hey, Jess, why didn't you RSVP? Yes,
- 46:20Speaker 2: like what's going on? I thought that you'd be in
- 46:22Speaker 2: and just just goes, Oh, thanks so much. But honestly,
- 46:25Speaker 2: like I'm a bit of an anxious girl, I don't
- 46:27Speaker 2: want to go on my own. Oh my god, I'm
- 46:29Speaker 2: so sorry. I forgot James. Yeah, oh oh my god.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Would that change if I added James? Yeah, Like if
- 46:34Speaker 2: it's important to me, it will happen. Yeah, but like yeah, no,
- 46:38Speaker 2: pay no say yes what everyone else? Oh, they probably
- 46:42Speaker 2: have the same opinion as us. I'm hoping, because otherwise
- 46:44Speaker 2: we look like savage rude. Yeah. So we asked the
- 46:48Speaker 2: question if your wedding budget worth tight, how would you
- 46:51Speaker 2: manage the guest list? Ninety four percent of you said
- 46:55Speaker 2: limit plus ones based on certain criteria.
- 46:58Speaker 4: Seems like the obvious choice.
- 46:59Speaker 2: You get to make up the too. You could be like,
- 47:01Speaker 2: oh they all have to be named Bill, like, you.
- 47:05Speaker 4: Do what you want.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Six percent of you said, cut guests so everyone gets
- 47:09Speaker 2: a plus one.
- 47:10Speaker 4: Oh sing, that's a very interesting take, that is.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Yeah. I was like, oh, I'm going to read this
- 47:16Speaker 2: one out too. I know it was like the minority,
- 47:18Speaker 2: but like the idea that you'd cut guests so other
- 47:21Speaker 2: people could have a plus one. Yeah, you're cutting people,
- 47:24Speaker 2: you know.
- 47:25Speaker 4: It feels people pleasing. I say it as a people pleaser.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Next question, is it fair to RSVP no
- 47:32Speaker 2: if you don't get a plus one? Fourteen percent off
- 47:35Speaker 2: you said, yeah, it's really awkward to go solo an
- 47:38Speaker 2: eighty six percent of you said no, I respect their budget. Yeah,
- 47:41Speaker 2: I'd probably still go.
- 47:43Speaker 4: Yeah, it depends. I think it just depends on the situation.
- 47:45Speaker 4: Like if I was the friend from school that didn't
- 47:47Speaker 4: know anybody being anxious enough maybe during like your wedding,
- 47:51Speaker 4: I would have been like, yeah, I can go soloo
- 47:52Speaker 4: dr ya.
- 47:52Speaker 2: But you had hips of people that you're there, and like, honestly,
- 47:55Speaker 2: that was part of the consideration because you've got to
- 47:57Speaker 2: remember that when you're planning a wedding, it's not just
- 47:59Speaker 2: the guest list we're thinking about so I've done the
- 48:01Speaker 2: guest list, then I've done the table settings, and I've
- 48:04Speaker 2: made sure that those two people that used to be
- 48:07Speaker 2: married that we're both friends with are not on the
- 48:09Speaker 2: same table. And even you know, I'm like literally like, okay, cool.
- 48:12Speaker 2: But if this person was sitting at this table and
- 48:14Speaker 2: they look up and they're going to be looking into
- 48:15Speaker 2: the eyes of their ex husband across two tables, I'm
- 48:19Speaker 2: thinking about that stuff. I'm sitting down and being like, okay, Well,
- 48:23Speaker 2: if Jess is coming and Beck is coming, they work
- 48:26Speaker 2: together and they get along really well, all right, I'll
- 48:28Speaker 2: put them on a table together. Oh Jess is bringing
- 48:30Speaker 2: a partner. Beck's partner's busy, all right? Or make sure
- 48:33Speaker 2: she's with Jess, because if she's with the rest of
- 48:36Speaker 2: the team, she doesn't get along with them well, and
- 48:37Speaker 2: she's coming on her own. Like this is literally what
- 48:40Speaker 2: is going on in a couple's mind while they're picking
- 48:43Speaker 2: table settings. It is like battle planning, like we're playing battleshit,
- 48:47Speaker 2: Like we are fully playing battleships. And I think it's
- 48:51Speaker 2: so important to remember that, like, this day is not
- 48:54Speaker 2: about you. They have extended an invite to share their
- 48:57Speaker 2: love with you. Take it or leave it? Yeah, we
- 49:02Speaker 2: did ask what's your two cents? First person said, we
- 49:06Speaker 2: had backlash at our wedding because we didn't invite partners
- 49:08Speaker 2: that we hadn't met.
- 49:10Speaker 4: I think that's such a valid choice.
- 49:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like it's fair. Someone else said, I
- 49:13Speaker 2: don't even think it's budget dependent that bride and groom
- 49:16Speaker 2: don't have to invite plus ones.
- 49:18Speaker 4: Yeah, do you want your wedding?
- 49:20Speaker 2: Literally, I'm very happy that no one's disagreed but with
- 49:23Speaker 2: us yet literally, And that's in my head. I'm like,
- 49:25Speaker 2: why would I invite somebody to my wedding? What am
- 49:27Speaker 2: I going to do? Stand in my wedding dress and
- 49:29Speaker 2: veil and be like, oh sorry, what was your name?
- 49:31Speaker 2: Someone else said, yeah, but was she the only cousin
- 49:34Speaker 2: to not get offered a plus one? That's awkward.
- 49:36Speaker 4: If she was, that's a good point. Yeah, it would
- 49:40Speaker 4: be very rogue. But then could it be dependent? Like
- 49:42Speaker 4: if you've just started dating your boyfriend? I yeah, right,
- 49:46Speaker 4: you sticking around? You're going to be in the family
- 49:48Speaker 4: photos if you.
- 49:50Speaker 2: I remember one of my friends had this and she
- 49:54Speaker 2: went to a wedding. I believe I just remember brunch
- 49:57Speaker 2: yap in. But it was only for married partners, and
- 49:59Speaker 2: her partner I couldn't go because they weren't married.
- 50:01Speaker 4: Ah, but they've been together.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Or something, and they were like, yeah, I know, wild.
- 50:06Speaker 4: Yeah, that does feel a bitter fair.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Actually, someone else said, I had a friend never speak
- 50:10Speaker 2: to me again after she didn't get a plus one
- 50:12Speaker 2: to my wedding.
- 50:13Speaker 4: That's harsh, Like, as much as it's your choice whether
- 50:16Speaker 4: or not you want to go with or without a
- 50:18Speaker 4: plus one, yeah, kind of your friendship is crazy. Yeah,
- 50:21Speaker 4: that's wild.
- 50:21Speaker 2: I mean, what was I think I'm again a little
- 50:25Speaker 2: bit savage today. I feel like that friendship was probably
- 50:28Speaker 2: more fragile than you think it was. Yeah, right, And
- 50:31Speaker 2: like Catcher, if that's all it's going to take to
- 50:33Speaker 2: break our friendship, you would probably not a good friend
- 50:36Speaker 2: to be.
- 50:37Speaker 4: It's crazy when you boil it all down.
- 50:38Speaker 5: It's like imagine like you're just sitting in the lound
- 50:40Speaker 5: room with your friend and I know, this is really dumb.
- 50:42Speaker 2: This is not the situation at all.
- 50:43Speaker 5: But like let's say your friend is sitting across from
- 50:45Speaker 5: you and they're like, give me two hundred dollars. You're like,
- 50:48Speaker 5: I'm so sorry, I don't. I don't have two hundred dollars.
- 50:49Speaker 5: I only have two undred dollars for you, not your partner,
- 50:51Speaker 5: and they're like, give me two dollars. All this friendship
- 50:53Speaker 5: is sorry about Like that feels really mean, And.
- 50:56Speaker 4: That's almost almost what this feels.
- 50:58Speaker 5: Like, kind of you know, it's like, but I'm so
- 51:00Speaker 5: sorry I don't only have enough to give you.
- 51:03Speaker 2: And it's like, well, it's not like she came home
- 51:05Speaker 2: from school with an extra kid and said, oh, have
- 51:08Speaker 2: we got dinner for Marcus as well? Yeah, oh yeah,
- 51:11Speaker 2: we made spag Ball join in. Yeah, a bit different.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Someone else said I didn't care if people are s
- 51:18Speaker 2: VP no to my wedding. It meant I spent more
- 51:20Speaker 2: money on my honeymoon.
- 51:21Speaker 4: Honestly, that's a great take.
- 51:23Speaker 2: Less money I have to spend iconic. Another person said
- 51:28Speaker 2: that the cousin isn't going solo. She has the whole
- 51:30Speaker 2: family there plus one for real solo guests.
- 51:34Speaker 4: That's fair.
- 51:36Speaker 2: Someone else and this is going to be my last
- 51:38Speaker 2: one because I feel like we could yap about weddings
- 51:40Speaker 2: forever said petty decisions like this can have longstanding repercussions.
- 51:45Speaker 4: It's true. Is it worse relationship over it?
- 51:49Speaker 2: That's the thing think about life, you guys. Everything's arbitrary,
- 51:53Speaker 2: isn't it.
- 51:53Speaker 4: Yeah, it's one day, Like does it really? One day
- 51:57Speaker 4: We're all going to be in the ground. One day.
- 52:01Speaker 2: They'll be divorced or dead.
- 52:02Speaker 5: Listen.
- 52:03Speaker 4: That's it. So live, love, laugh while you can.
- 52:05Speaker 1: No.
- 52:06Speaker 2: I love this. I'm glad we ended it on such
- 52:08Speaker 2: a positive note. You guys, turn out of ten. All right, guys,
- 52:12Speaker 2: we are going to go because I feel like this
- 52:14Speaker 2: is rapidly declining. But we'll see you right earlier on
- 52:18Speaker 2: Monday for a money diary. Have a good weekend, by guys.
- 52:20Speaker 4: Bye.
