- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities CE OS and even royalty Adam Cox, these
- 0:21recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's world
- 0:24famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Have you ever found yourself shrinking and becoming
- 0:42introverted when you're around very loud or arrogant or
- 0:48charismatic personalities? My name is Adam.
- 0:51And on this episode of The Hypnotist, this is what the
- 0:54hypnosis session is all about because I was working with a
- 0:57client that was a very intelligent, very capable
- 1:00person. But they grew up in a family
- 1:02where they had older brothers which were very, very loud and
- 1:07very, very domineering and would sometimes kind of push
- 1:10boundaries just to kind of test the water and establish A
- 1:13hierarchy. And what they found is that that
- 1:16made them feel small and unworthy and not wanted and all
- 1:20of these things that meant that they would kind of clam up a
- 1:24bit. So what you're going to hear in
- 1:26this hypnosis session is a way of them feeling really empowered
- 1:31and confident and also. The ability to.
- 1:34Set boundaries so that if people are disrespectful, rude, or try
- 1:39and make them feel small, they've got a way of responding
- 1:43to that in a non aggressive and a non passive aggressive way to
- 1:47actually establish boundaries. And sometimes the best way to do
- 1:50that is to call it out. So if you think someone is being
- 1:53rude or disrespectful, you know, asking like what do you mean by
- 1:57that is quite a useful way for it you to reflect it back.
- 2:01Because then either they have to kind of joke and and kind of
- 2:06pass it off as nothing, in which case you've established the
- 2:09boundary, or they need to double down and kind of actually be
- 2:14rude. But at least they now know what
- 2:17they're doing and you now know what they're doing, and then you
- 2:19can act accordingly. But that's not the main part of
- 2:22this. The main part of this is feeling
- 2:24empowered to really be yourself. And there is a metaphor.
- 2:28Here of. Peacocks and goats, and that is
- 2:32that sometimes people that are, let's say, more introverted or
- 2:37more quiet in nature, and I would put myself in that camp.
- 2:40I am definitely a natural introvert.
- 2:43You know, in my teenage years I was incredibly shy and therefore
- 2:46it wasn't my nature to kind of be loud.
- 2:49So therefore when I'm around very loud people, you know, at
- 2:53least in the past I would compare myself with those people
- 2:57and sometimes get frustrated and sometimes feel, you know, why
- 3:00can't I be like that now? The client also had that kind of
- 3:05feeling, but in the present, whereas that was my past.
- 3:07And I said, which animal do you feel is the most attention
- 3:12seeking loud kind of animal? And for them.
- 3:15The idea of Peacocks kind of came up and I said what is quite
- 3:19a a quiet, humble kind of animal that doesn't really care what
- 3:24anyone else is up to. And for them the idea of a goat
- 3:26came up. So you're going to hear those
- 3:27references of goats and Peacocks to highlight that if someone
- 3:31else is doing something that would be aligned with either an
- 3:35extroverted personality or even attention seeking behavior based
- 3:40on their own past, that's fine. That's them and that doesn't
- 3:44need to be you. So if you have found yourself
- 3:47feeling a bit quiet or insignificant or small in these
- 3:51situations, then you really might get some value from this
- 3:54session. Obviously it was created for an
- 3:56individual. Some of the suggestions would
- 3:57have been perfect for them and not quite right for you.
- 4:00So on that basis, if you do like the idea of a bespoke session
- 4:04tailored entirely for you and to work with me directly, have a
- 4:08look in the show notes in the description where you will find
- 4:11a link to book a free consultation call.
- 4:13We'll have a chat and maybe rather than just you listening
- 4:16to me on YouTube or on a podcast, we actually end up
- 4:19working together. And that's how most of my
- 4:22clients find me. They listen to this sometimes a
- 4:25long time. I've had clients listen to me
- 4:27for a year or two and they keep. Hearing me say.
- 4:30Look, book a consultation call, we'll have a chat.
- 4:32And they think, right, other people can do that, but I'm not
- 4:34going to do that. But why not book that
- 4:36consultation call? We'll have a chat, and it might
- 4:38be that we actually work together live, rather than just
- 4:40you listening to my recordings. For now, though, find a quiet,
- 4:44comfortable place where you're not going to be disturbed.
- 4:46Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 5:18you breathe in, breathe in that resourceful feeling of calm and
- 5:23relaxation. And as you exhale, feel a
- 5:30wonderful sense of release, as if any tension, stress or
- 5:35worries are feeling like they're leaving your body in your
- 5:41outward breath, breathing in, then resourceful relaxation.
- 5:51And that's it. Feeling your eyelids getting
- 5:54heavier, your jaw loosening. And as you exhale, just feel
- 6:00that release, like you're letting go.
- 6:05That's it. And I want you to imagine a
- 6:10colour that represents self acceptance and maybe it's a
- 6:17bright colour, a distinctive colour.
- 6:23And just imagine as you breathe in, you're breathing in pure
- 6:27distilled self acceptance and as you exhale, feel that you are
- 6:37releasing any insecurities or unworthiness in your outward
- 6:44breath. And maybe you could imagine that
- 7:04releasing any of those things that feel unsafe or undesirable.
- 7:15That's it. I want you to scan your face for
- 7:19any clues of tension, maybe around your eyelids or your
- 7:24forehead, your jaw, around your cheeks.
- 7:29And as you breathe in that self acceptance, allow it to melt
- 7:34away tension there in the forehead and just feel that
- 7:41release. Each breath takes you deeper and
- 7:50deeper, relaxed. That's it.
- 7:55And as your physical body relaxes, your imagination
- 8:00awakens. And I want you to imagine a
- 8:07mountain that resembles a lion's head.
- 8:13And I want you to imagine that you are there, at the foot of
- 8:21this mountain. Imagine wearing clothing
- 8:25suitable for a hike. And maybe you can imagine blue
- 8:31skies, sunshine, and just imagine what it would feel like
- 8:40to start the ascent. Imagine breathing in that air,
- 8:47feeling the warmth, and step after step feel what it would
- 8:56feel like to climb this mountain.
- 9:02Each step takes you deeper and deeper, relaxed, as if somehow
- 9:10this mountain is a portal to that part of your mind that is
- 9:18able to discard old definitions, unuseful beliefs, and to
- 9:26consider new ways of thinking, feeling and being.
- 9:33So as you breathe in that self acceptance and release any
- 9:38unworthiness, continue to imagine walking up that
- 9:43mountain. And about halfway up the
- 9:48mountain, I want you to see something strange.
- 9:54I want you to imagine seeing at least three Peacocks.
- 10:00And I want you to see the movement they make, that
- 10:04posturing, fanning their feathers, and maybe they're
- 10:11wailing or crowing. And I want you to get a sense
- 10:15that this is a cry for attention.
- 10:23But you can't blame the Peacocks for fanning their feathers or
- 10:28wailing the way they do. That's what Peacocks do.
- 10:35And I want you to feel complete acceptance for the Peacocks.
- 10:43And then I want you to see somewhere near the Peacocks is a
- 10:47little goat, and I want you to see that little goat with
- 10:54nothing to prove. And while the Peacocks are
- 10:58wailing and fanning their feathers, the goat is happy just
- 11:06being a goat. Doesn't need to bleat.
- 11:13Doesn't need to strut the goat as rock solid.
- 11:19Confidence in being a goat. In fact, I want you to imagine
- 11:28seeing the goat climb up a bit of a Ridge halfway up this
- 11:33mountain, and I want you to see it sure, footed, rock solid, and
- 11:43see it standing on a boulder. Not to show off, not to get
- 11:51attention just because it can. The goat doesn't mind the
- 11:59attention, but it doesn't need it.
- 12:04It's happy if the Peacocks or anyone else noticed the goat,
- 12:11but equally, even if the goat is unseen, the goat is completely
- 12:18comfortable because the goat doesn't change how it feels
- 12:26depending on who else is around. And I want you to feel an
- 12:32affinity with that goat. And when the goat sees the
- 12:36Peacocks strutting, fanning their feathers and wailing, the
- 12:43goat has full acceptance. What the goat doesn't try and do
- 12:51is to become a Peacock. The goat takes pride in being a
- 12:58goat. And as you continue up the
- 13:04mountain, I want you to feel that that same level of self
- 13:12acceptance. You like who you are, you
- 13:18respect who you are, and you value who you are, and therefore
- 13:31anyone else's reaction, attention, words or expressions
- 13:39are simply a reflection of them, not a reflection of you.
- 13:47As you continue up the mountain, I want you to imagine how it
- 13:51would feel to get to the pinnacle, the summit.
- 14:01And I want you to imagine looking out, perhaps over an
- 14:05entire town, and just feel. Feel that you're in the right
- 14:13place emotionally. You like who you are.
- 14:19You feel comfortable in that moment, in your body, the way
- 14:26you're living your life. And let's imagine what it would
- 14:31feel like to have a comfortable chair there at the top of that
- 14:38Lion's Head mountain. Maybe you could imagine a soft,
- 14:46comfortable reclining chair that still has that view.
- 14:53And I want you to get a feeling of what it would feel like to
- 14:58sit in that chair and sink into it.
- 15:03Allow your whole body weight to sink into that chair feeling
- 15:07more and more relaxed. And as I countdown from 5 to 1,
- 15:15you will imagine what it would feel like to feel so relaxed in
- 15:20that chair that you drift off into a dream like sleep. 5, your
- 15:27eyelids getting heavier and four, all the muscles around
- 15:32your neck and shoulder just melt away any tension.
- 15:39And then three, your arms just feel limp and loose.
- 15:46And then two, even your internal organs relax.
- 15:50Lungs, heart, stomach, all the way into the gut, relax.
- 15:57Any tension is leaving your body in your outward breath.
- 16:01And then one, just imagine how good it would feel for your legs
- 16:06to feel limp, loose and heavy, so your whole body is relaxed as
- 16:10you sink deeper into a dreamlike sleep.
- 16:17And I want you to imagine that in that dream, you're able to
- 16:24visit a moment. A moment from your past where
- 16:29you felt rock solid self assurance even around other
- 16:36people, comfortable in your own skin, proud of who you are,
- 16:45oozing worthiness in a calm feeling.
- 16:53And just imagine seeing that version of you in whichever
- 16:57context you were in. And just observe.
- 17:05I want you to breathe the way that version of you is
- 17:08breathing, to have a similar posture or facial expression as
- 17:17you know that that version of you wouldn't change that feeling
- 17:24of worthiness no matter who else is around.
- 17:28And I want you to imagine seeing a glowing circle underneath the
- 17:37feet for that version of you oozing worthiness.
- 17:45And then imagine a cylindrical beam floating up from that
- 17:48circle. So now you're seeing yourself
- 17:55standing in the middle of a cylinder of golden light with a
- 18:01glowing circle beneath your feet.
- 18:05And we can call this the Golden Circle of Worthiness.
- 18:12And as an observer, you can see that that version of you has a
- 18:19particular definition of what it means to be worthy.
- 18:28That version of you has come to the conclusion that if you are
- 18:35meeting or exceeding your standards of living in terms of
- 18:42how you live, then you are worthy.
- 18:49This isn't doing what's possible.
- 18:52This is doing more than the bare minimum.
- 18:56And if that version of you is meeting that standard, then
- 18:59you're worthy. But also, I want you to notice
- 19:05that in that moment, that version of you was living in
- 19:10alignment with your values. If that version of you valued
- 19:16adventure, you're on an adventure, that version of you
- 19:22values authenticity, then you are authentic.
- 19:28If that version of you values kindness, see yourself being
- 19:31kind, and if your unconscious agree, it's that that's all it
- 19:38takes for you to feel worthy to meet your minimum standards, to
- 19:45be in alignment with your values.
- 19:46Let me know by nodding your head and then step into that version
- 19:52of you and feel what it would feel like to feel 100% worthy,
- 20:04100% good enough, more than good enough.
- 20:12And I want you to feel that feeling and scan your body for
- 20:16where you feel that feeling of worthiness.
- 20:22Because sometimes people feel anxiety in the gut or stress in
- 20:29the jaw or the temple. But I want you to scan your body
- 20:32for where you feel that worthiness that you are valuable
- 20:37as you are, and just point to that location of where that
- 20:42worthiness feels like it is. And I want you to imagine a
- 20:47shape there in that location, A3 dimensional shape.
- 20:55It doesn't have to be a cube or a pyramid, could be a crown, it
- 21:01could be something else, an object that for you represents
- 21:06worthiness. Just imagine it in that location
- 21:11in a particular colour and then notice if it moves, rotates,
- 21:17pulsates and whatever it does, speed it up until you increase
- 21:23and amplify the worthiness. Give it a colour and make the
- 21:28colour glow until you find the optimal level of worthiness.
- 21:36Then give it a sound, a sound of worthiness.
- 21:43And that might be a phrase like I am more than enough, I am
- 21:49valuable. Or it could just be a sound like
- 21:56a shimmer or a vibration or something else.
- 22:05And I want you to feel what it feels like to have that level of
- 22:08worthiness and realize that when you feel worthy like this, you
- 22:12feel calm, you feel secure, you feel completely self assured.
- 22:23But also notice how safe you feel.
- 22:28And you feel safe because in this moment, you know that
- 22:35someone understands, someone cares, someone values you, and
- 22:43someone accepts you. And if that's all it takes, even
- 22:48if that person is you, for you to feel emotionally safe, let me
- 22:55know by nodding your head. And I want you to feel that
- 23:01because you feel worthy and emotionally safe.
- 23:06If anyone is being deliberately or maliciously disrespectful,
- 23:12rude, that same worthiness will make you feel empowered to have
- 23:19a boundary to ask a question, even if that question is what
- 23:28did you mean by that? And that question alone will
- 23:34diffuse more than 90% of rudeness, disrespect and power
- 23:42plays. Because sometimes people are
- 23:47trying to find chinks in the armour or just stir the pot.
- 23:52But when you call it out, you hold a mirror to their behaviour
- 24:01and if they sidestep it, deflect, you win.
- 24:08If they try and pass it off as a joke, you win because you've
- 24:14established the boundary of what you will not tolerate.
- 24:21And if they persist and double down and then are maliciously
- 24:27rude or disrespectful, you have the autonomy to take yourself
- 24:33out of that situation. You can leave, and if it feels
- 24:43that you are empowered to call out anything that is a conscious
- 24:51or unconscious attempt to make you feel less than, let me know
- 24:57by nodding your head. That's it.
- 25:00And I want you to imagine the situation in the past where
- 25:06someone did do that and just imagine feeling calm, secure and
- 25:13worthy and asking them confidently what do you mean by
- 25:20that? And imagine their response.
- 25:28And you can have it in a curious, confident, assertive
- 25:33tone and realise if you can do it, then you can do it at any
- 25:42point in the future. So breathe in that feeling of
- 25:48confidence and go back to seeing that version of you in that
- 25:54cylinder of light and imagine a social situation with a group of
- 26:03friends. But see yourself like you're
- 26:07someone else. But see yourself in that
- 26:12cylinder of golden light with that glowing shape there in your
- 26:17chest. And I want you to see that that
- 26:22version of you is safe, secure, calm and worthy and enjoys
- 26:30sharing any information you choose to share.
- 26:36And you can be interested, confident, and you don't have to
- 26:42embellish a story. The truth and real life is all
- 26:52you need. And if you could imagine that
- 26:56version of you confidently, securely, safely, comfortably
- 27:05sharing whatever you want to share, let me know by nodding
- 27:10your head. That's it.
- 27:13And then step into that version of you and feel that in the same
- 27:19way that if one candle lights another candle, the light of the
- 27:24first candle is not diminished. You sharing your stories, your
- 27:30experiences does not take away from anyone else's.
- 27:42And I want you to feel how that feels, to feel that you can
- 27:50express yourself as you choose to.
- 27:58And then imagine leaving that environment, feeling that you've
- 28:03expanded your comfort zone. And then imagine seeing
- 28:07yourself, perhaps in a family meal, but imagine seeing that
- 28:13version of you with that glowing shape in your chest, bathed in
- 28:21that cylinder of light, a golden circle beneath your feet.
- 28:28And that version of you, perhaps, is a goat among
- 28:33Peacocks. No need to compete with
- 28:37Peacocks. That's not you.
- 28:42And I want you to see how comfortable, secure, and
- 28:47emotionally safe you seem. And if Peacocks do what Peacocks
- 28:55do, you accept it. And if there is a deliberate
- 29:02attempt to be rude or disrespectful, you call it out.
- 29:12I want you to get a feeling that that version of you does not
- 29:16make yourself smaller. You're proud of who you are.
- 29:23You own all of your qualities, and that version of you is
- 29:28worthy not because of other people, but because of your
- 29:32standards and your values. And if you can see that version
- 29:40of you perhaps even thriving in that situation that once felt
- 29:49uncomfortable, let me know by nodding your head and then
- 29:53rewind it. Step into that.
- 29:55So now you feel what it would feel like to be in that
- 29:58situation. Feel that sensation in your
- 30:01chest, the sound, the movement, the colour.
- 30:07Imagine looking at your feet, seeing that golden circle,
- 30:12feeling bathed in that golden light.
- 30:17And I want you to imagine this is now training at altitude.
- 30:20Imagine the worst possible cocktail of situations and yet
- 30:26you remain unfazed, unbothered. But anything malicious or
- 30:33deliberate, you feel empowered to challenge it, to call it out.
- 30:40You are holding your ground, establishing A boundary, letting
- 30:49people know what's OK and what's not OK, because many people
- 30:56believe that you get what you deserve and it's not true.
- 31:02You get what you tolerate, and this worthy, confident version
- 31:07of you is not willing to tolerate disrespect or rudeness,
- 31:15but it is willing to tolerate Peacocks being Peacocks because
- 31:20that's what they do. And if this feels like the right
- 31:25balance of acceptance and control, that's it.
- 31:29Let me know by nodding your head.
- 31:32And I want you to feel that this also expands the comfort zone
- 31:36and before long situations used to avoid you feel like you
- 31:44actively want to engage with to build more resilience,
- 31:51confidence and a sense of rock solid self assurance.
- 32:00Imagine it's the end of that meal and you leave feeling proud
- 32:03of yourself by not shrinking but holding your space, respecting
- 32:13who you are in the way you are. And then imagine floating back
- 32:19to that mountaintop, but as you leave the chair to look over the
- 32:26town, the views, the panoramic, I want you to feel that
- 32:33something has shifted. What you're willing to tolerate
- 32:38has shifted. The definitions of worthiness
- 32:41have shifted. What it takes to feel safe has
- 32:45shifted. And in doing so, you are
- 32:49rippling through space and time, but will subtly or not so
- 32:54subtly, change how you feel, how you think, and how you feel in
- 33:01different situations. And with that in mind, it's time
- 33:06to float all the way back to your present, the here and the
- 33:12now. So take a deep breath in through
- 33:15your nose and out through your nose.
- 33:20Wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 33:22Connect and calibrate into the here and the now.
- 33:25And as I count from 1:00 to 10:00, you will awaken feeling
- 33:28worthy, secure, emotionally safe, and excited for the
- 33:34future. Starting to count 123 Waking up
- 33:40456. More alert 7-8 Open your eyes.
- 33:44Open your eyes 910. Wide awake, Wide awake.
