Transcript
- 0:01Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to Saint Luke At that
- 0:07time, Jesus spoke this parable to some who trusted in
- 0:11themselves as just and despised others.
- 0:16Two men went up into the temple to pray.
- 0:20The one was a Pharisee and the other a publican.
- 0:25The Pharisee standing prayed thus with himself, O God, I give
- 0:31thee thanks, that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners,
- 0:37unjust adulterers, as also as this publican.
- 0:43I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
- 0:50And the publican standing afar off, would not so much as lift
- 0:53up his eyes towards heaven, but struck his breast, saying, O
- 0:59God, be merciful to me, a Sinner.
- 1:05I say to you, This man went down to his house justified rather
- 1:09than the other. Because everyone that exalteth
- 1:13himself shall be humbled, and he that humbleth himself shall be
- 1:18exalted.
