- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here, and you're about to listen to a reasonably
- 0:42short hypnosis session that uses elements of disassociation and
- 0:49association to help a client that had a fear of mice and
- 0:53rats. Now, I'd already done a lot of
- 0:55work with the client before this final 15 minutes.
- 0:58This was a way for them to go through their memories.
- 1:02Think of all the times they felt real anxiety at either seeing a
- 1:06mouse, seeing a rat or thinking about them.
- 1:09A lot of people with phobias get most of their anxiety from the
- 1:12thoughts about them rather than the actual event.
- 1:15And what this does is has this idea of a cinema.
- 1:19It's a very useful tool for stage disassociation.
- 1:23They see themselves as they were in the memory, then they imagine
- 1:27rewinding it, seeing themselves as they would want to be with
- 1:31lots of confidence. And when they're absolutely
- 1:34certain that version of them has the resources to handle that
- 1:38situation, then they take a first person perspective.
- 1:42So what this does is it disassociates from the anxiety
- 1:46and then starts with disassociation from a resource
- 1:48state like confidence, before associating into the confidence
- 1:52in the same context that would cause the anxiety normally.
- 1:56So what we need to do is to remove the link between anxiety
- 2:01and the stimulus before introducing a new resource
- 2:04state. This was for mice and rats.
- 2:07You can use a variation of this for almost any phobia.
- 2:10So essentially you're seeing a memory of what actually
- 2:13happened, but as if you're were observing yourself like you're
- 2:17someone else. You rewind it, you play it
- 2:19forward with the resource state and then imagine jumping into
- 2:22that and experiencing it from a first person perspective,
- 2:25knowing that if any anxiety comes up, you can just jump back
- 2:28out and then observe from a third person perspective until
- 2:31you can get all the way through the memory from a first person
- 2:33perspective while feeling resourceful.
- 2:36And this links to this idea of neuroplasticity creating a new
- 2:39neural pathway linked to the very context that had the
- 2:42previous neural pathway. If you have a fear of mice or
- 2:46rats, you'll get more value from this.
- 2:48But if you would like a bespoke session and the majority of what
- 2:51happened with this client is not what happened in this hypnosis
- 2:54session, it's what happened before.
- 2:56So if you do like the idea of. Getting rid.
- 2:58Of a phobia that maybe you've had for many years, maybe even
- 3:01decades. There will be a link in the
- 3:03description where you can schedule a completely free
- 3:06consultation call. We'll have a chat.
- 3:07And it might be that I end up helping you to completely
- 3:10eliminate your phobia in just a few sessions, as I've done for
- 3:14many hundreds of other people. So if that appeals to you, check
- 3:17out the link in the comments. For now, find a quiet,
- 3:20comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 3:22Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 3:54you breathe in, breathe in that resourceful feeling of calm and
- 3:59relaxation. And as you exhale, just feel a
- 4:06wonderful feeling of relaxation, as if on every outward breath
- 4:13you're releasing more anxiety, more stress, more tension.
- 4:19Each breath takes you deeper and deeper, relaxed breathing in a
- 4:27wonderful feeling of resourceful relaxation.
- 4:32And as you exhale, feel that feeling of release, as if each
- 4:42breath takes you deeper to a place that amplifies neural
- 4:48plasticity. Neurologists say neurons that
- 4:56fire together wire together. And what if there are errors in
- 5:04your life that you ooze confidence, a feeling of your
- 5:13skills and capacity exceed the demand, that you're facing
- 5:19situations that would intimidate other people, but for you, you
- 5:23feel calm, composed, confident. And what if those neurons that
- 5:31know how to be confident start firing when you start thinking
- 5:36about mice or rats? I want you to get a feeling then
- 5:46your anxiety linked to mice and rats is just a conditioned
- 5:52response. At some point in your childhood,
- 5:58you felt intense anxiety to either what they looked like or
- 6:04what you imagined them to be like, and that created a
- 6:09trigger. But what if that trigger was
- 6:13based on false information? What if mice only make you feel
- 6:23anxious because you believe that they make you feel anxious and
- 6:29the moment you can feel confident while seeing or
- 6:32thinking about a mouse then means that you don't mind if
- 6:38there is a mouse there because it no longer makes you feel
- 6:42anxious anymore. As you breathe in and breathe
- 6:47out, I want you to imagine a staircase leading to your own
- 6:52private cinema. And as I countdown from 12:50,
- 6:57you will imagine walking down that staircase, opening a door
- 7:01and walking into your own private cinema. 10 Taking the
- 7:07first step down, feeling more and more relaxed. 9 even deeper
- 7:15breathing now. 8 feel relaxation in your jaw, around your
- 7:23eyelids, your forehead, and seven your neck and your
- 7:28shoulders. Start to let go of any tension
- 7:32they're holding onto. 7 becomes 6 and your arms feel limp, loose
- 7:39and heavy. Five, your breathing slows down,
- 7:47breathing out for longer than you breathe in.
- 7:51And four, feel that relaxation going down into your gut.
- 7:56That's it. 3 even more relaxed legs feeling limp, loose and
- 8:00heavy and two down into your ankles and then one from the tip
- 8:06of your toes to the top of your head all the way down to the
- 8:09tips of your fingers. Feel that ripple of relaxation
- 8:15as you find yourself at the bottom of that staircase.
- 8:19Imagine opening the door and walking into your own private
- 8:24cinema. And in that private cinema, find
- 8:30the most comfortable chair on the screen.
- 8:35I want you to see a time in your life where you've had
- 8:40unshakeable confidence, something that might intimidate
- 8:45or make someone else nervous, but you then in that moment had
- 8:52unshakeable confidence, certainty that you could handle
- 9:00that situation well. I want you to notice how you
- 9:05breathe, your facial expressions, notice your
- 9:11posture, and just start to mimic how you look when you have
- 9:16unshakeable confidence. Breathe that way, feel that way,
- 9:21and then step into the screen and feel how you would feel to
- 9:26have unshakeable confidence. Notice that you might be
- 9:32breathing longer, deeper, more from the diaphragm.
- 9:37You're in a dialogue, if you have any might say, I can do
- 9:41this, I know how to do this, this is fine and it would be
- 9:46true. And then I want you to imagine
- 9:51keeping that feeling of unshakable confidence moving
- 9:55back to the chair where you can see the screen.
- 10:00And then I want you to think the time in your past that you had
- 10:07some kind of anxiety linked to a mouse or a rat.
- 10:12And I want you to imagine seeing that memory on the screen like
- 10:17you're an actor in a film. You were not in the movie.
- 10:22You're just observing the movie. And I want you to see that that
- 10:29mouse, that rat, well, the idea of it changed how you were
- 10:36breathing, change your facial expression.
- 10:40And that just means that in the past, seeing or thinking of a
- 10:46mouse or a rat did make you feel that way in the past.
- 10:54But I want you to imagine rewinding it and just imagine
- 10:59that unshakably confident version of you dealing with the
- 11:03same situation. And that version of you has No
- 11:08Fear, no anxiety of mice or rats at all.
- 11:13And I want you to see how you would handle the same situation
- 11:16differently again, like an actor on a screen, if that version of
- 11:21you had unshakable confidence and if you could imagine that
- 11:28version of you handling that situation well.
- 11:30Let me know about nodding your head and just rewind it, Do it
- 11:40again. Try different variations.
- 11:43And in every iteration and variation, you have no more fear
- 11:50of that mouse, that rat, or even the thought of one.
- 11:54See yourself handling the situation well, and when you are
- 12:00absolutely certain that that version of you would be unfazed
- 12:05and unbothered by a mouse or a rat or the thought of one, let
- 12:09me know about nodding your head. Try all the iterations until you
- 12:22find your favorite. A version of you, confident,
- 12:28unbothered, dealing with the situation in a way that means
- 12:34you handle the situation but with the absence of anxiety.
- 12:38And when you see that version of you on the screen, confident,
- 12:45even if there is a mouse or a rat or the thought of one, let
- 12:51me know by nodding your head. That's in.
- 12:57Rewind it all the way to the beginning and then imagine
- 12:59floating into the screen. Just imagine you're now taking a
- 13:04first person perspective as someone with unshakeable
- 13:09confidence I want you to feel. Then you would be unfazed,
- 13:16unbothered, thinking or seeing a mouse or a rat.
- 13:21And then imagine reliving that memory as you would want to if
- 13:26you weren't bothered by it. Feel yourself breathing
- 13:30confidently, moving confidently, even thinking confidently.
- 13:36And then imagine the same situation.
- 13:40And yet now it doesn't bother you.
- 13:43That mouse, that rat, or the thought of 1 is no different
- 13:48than if it was a Sparrow, a Robin, a parrot.
- 13:53It's as insignificant as that. It doesn't bother you at all.
- 13:59I don't want you to imagine going from the beginning of the
- 14:03memory to the end in this new way, feeling unshakably
- 14:07confident, unbothered, unfazed. And once you've got to the end
- 14:14of that memory, feeling proud, confident.
- 14:21I want you to feel then what happens in your mind can easily
- 14:26be transferred to reality, because the neural pathway to
- 14:31imagine something vividly is no different from the neural
- 14:35pathway that would handle it in reality.
- 14:40If you've had anxiety at the idea of something, you already
- 14:44know that to be true. But if you can have anxiety at
- 14:48the idea of something, you can also have self-confidence at the
- 14:54idea of doing something. And when you've experienced that
- 14:58memory in that new, calm, confident way, let me know by
- 15:03nodding your head. And you get to do as many times
- 15:11as you want. Do it one more time just to make
- 15:14sure that you feel. Then no matter what happens, you
- 15:18can deal with it. And once you're certain that the
- 15:27look of a mouse or the shape of a rat now just seems to make you
- 15:34more confident, more defiant, you still don't want it anywhere
- 15:42near you. But you can handle it.
- 15:44When that feels like it's true, let me know by nodding your
- 15:48head. And you realize you can go back
- 16:08here to this screen, harnessing different times of confidence
- 16:14and thinking of different memories of anxiety.
- 16:17And all you're doing is imagining what it would be like
- 16:22to see yourself confident in that same situation and then to
- 16:26feel confident in the same situation.
- 16:30And the more you do that, more those neural pathways are
- 16:34linking confidence to the idea of a mouse or a rat until it
- 16:40becomes second nature. You didn't walk at your first
- 16:46attempt. You had to fall over a few times
- 16:50until you found your balance. Your mind is building a new
- 16:54neural pathway to feel confident at the thought or the idea.
- 17:02The more you practice and the more you change memories into
- 17:05new ideas, the quicker it becomes a reality.
- 17:11If your unconscious mind understands, let me know by
- 17:13nodding your head. That's it.
- 17:16So imagine leaving that screen, that seat, walking out, opening
- 17:22the door, walking up a staircase.
- 17:25And then imagine floating back to your reality, taking that
- 17:29feeling and that belief with you.
- 17:33You were never afraid of mice or rats.
- 17:37Your brain had just linked a particular emotion to how they
- 17:40look and how they sound. And that's now changing.
- 17:45And once it changes, you don't have to work at it.
- 17:49That's just the way it becomes to float back to the here and
- 17:54the now. Taking a deep breath in through
- 17:56your nose, hand out through your nose, Just wiggle your fingers,
- 18:02wiggle your toes, connect and calibrate into the here and the
- 18:04now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 18:12Starting to count. 123 waking up 456, more alert. 7-8.
- 18:20Open your eyes, open your eyes, 910.
- 18:23Wide awake, wide awake, wide awake.
