- 0:31SPEAKER_00: Hi and welcome to Amazing Brilliant Gorgeous Wonderful.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: It's Cheryl here, and today we're talking about labels.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Not the useful ones like milk, cereal, bread.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: I'm talking about the lazy ones.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: If you've ever been described as difficult, too much, intimidating, not approachable, this episode is for you.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Yes, we're gonna be untying the meaning of those labels because they often say more about the environment than they do about you.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Now isn't it amazing we have this thing called Word?
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: And with Word we love to label things, and labels are fantastic, aren't they?
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Put a label on a woman, and suddenly everyone stops asking questions.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Difficult, cold, emotional, overconfident, too direct, it's so efficient, it's incredibly lazy, and it's often nonsense.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Let me ask you this.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: What does this situation mean about you?
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: And who taught you that?
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Because meaning is where women get trapped, not in facts, in the interpretation.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: A woman sets a boundary and that means becoming she's selfish.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: A woman speaks clearly and the meaning becomes she's aggressive.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: A woman doesn't smile and the meaning becomes she's unfriendly.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: I mean, I have to admit I've fallen for this rubbish myself.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: And once mean hardens, you start defending yourself against the story instead of dealing with reality.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: You know what else could be true here?
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Maybe difficult means she's asked for clarity.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Maybe cold means she didn't perform friendliness for free.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Maybe emotional means she reacted like a human to pressure and disrespect.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Is difficult just colded or non-compliant.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Sometimes a workplace is fine with confident women and men as long as their confidence is decorative.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Confidence that looks good in the brochure, good on the ad campaigns, confidence that doesn't challenge anyone, confidence that basically stays in its lane.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: But the thing is, Moxie doesn't exist to make other people comfortable.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Moxie exists to help you stay true to who you are, for you to stay whole.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: Here's a reframe that caused mild outrage in certain rooms.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Clarity can be kindness.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: Because ambiguity, I think, is one of the reasons stress lives.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Ambiguity is where people swing stories, ambiguity is where women overthink themselves into exhaustion.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: So when you're clear, you're not being harsh.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: I think you're actually being merciful to yourself and actually to everyone else.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Okay, you might be thinking if I stop trying to be liked, people hate me.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: And the thing is, some will, but some already do, and you've been bending yourself into a paper clip for their approval anyway.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: And if I'm myself, I'll be judged, if that's what you're thinking, yes, possibly.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: But here's the question I'd like you to think about what's the cost of living in an edited version of yourself?
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: What would change if you were if you weren't trying to be light?
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Because role modelling isn't everyone loves me.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: You can see that in the world today, role model is I'm staying true, I'm staying steady, and I'm not abandon, I'm not abandoning myself to avoid a label that you might want to slap on me.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: That's that is what younger women need to see, I think.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Not perfection, not popularity, proof.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: So next time we'll land this series where it actually lives.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: Because even the best mindset in the world collapses when you're exhausted and your nervous system is on fire.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: So just a quick recap Labels are cheap stickers, they stick fast and they stop people thinking.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: You don't have to live inside someone else's lazy story of you.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Now, if anything in this episode landed, please subscribe, share, and repeat.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Because every step you take, no matter how small, is a step towards a brighter, more balanced future.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Trust your journey and remember progress is progress, no matter the pace.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Bye for now.
