- 0:00Hey, Yinning at Life Gang. It's Kimberly Roberts, your host
- 0:03here, and I'm so excited to deliver little bits of insight
- 0:10on living your best, most extraordinary life with, of
- 0:15course, yin yoga, traditional Chinese medicine, reflexology
- 0:21and even mindset acts. So thank you so much for
- 0:26pressing play on today's episode.
- 0:29Let's do this. Hello, everybody, and welcome
- 0:36back to the podcast. Today we're exploring and diving
- 0:40deep into what it really means to live in alignment with yin
- 0:45yoga and how this practice can help you completely trust
- 0:49yourself and your decisions. Now, doesn't that sound kind of
- 0:53cool? Like really, we don't want to
- 0:56second guess ourselves, right? We want to be really living in a
- 1:00way that fully embodies that yinning at life vibe.
- 1:05OK? Because when you're in
- 1:07alignment, choices feel clear. Life feels way more easy,
- 1:16effortless, and you're not controlling and forcing every
- 1:21single detail. Can you relate to that?
- 1:25I can tell you I can because I've spent most of my life
- 1:29forcing, controlling, grasping, pushing.
- 1:34And you know what? It doesn't work.
- 1:38And yen Yoga, along with some little wisdom from traditional
- 1:43Chinese medicine that I'm going to spin in today, is going to
- 1:46give you a really beautiful pathway into that space of
- 1:50trusting where you're letting go and you're just fully embodying
- 1:55that aligned life. So let's talk about, well, what
- 2:00really is alignment? Like, what does alignment mean?
- 2:05So alignment isn't just about the poses or the posture or the
- 2:13alignment on the mat, OK. Like how you look in your body
- 2:18in a pose. I mean, I often say in my yin
- 2:22yoga classes, it's not about how it looks.
- 2:27It's about how it feels, right? So I'm not talking about
- 2:31physical alignment here. I'm talking about energetic
- 2:34alignment. So when we are out of alignment,
- 2:39we're overthinking. We create so much tension in our
- 2:44mind. We're second guessing and
- 2:48controlling and grasping and like basically trying to
- 2:54manipulate our life. Not a great way to live.
- 3:01I know what it's like and it sucks, but when we're in
- 3:06alignment, it's almost like your life is always taking a big
- 3:12exhale through the mouth. It's easy, it's effortless.
- 3:18Even when you know, life quote UN quote, life's you, you have
- 3:24so much more clarity, you're grounded, you're peaceful and
- 3:29you trust like you just trust now.
- 3:34I mean, how do we, how do we get there?
- 3:36And how does traditional Chinese medicine play a role here and
- 3:41especially in yin yoga? So in traditional Chinese
- 3:47medicine, we have two Meridian channels or meridians that
- 3:53really speak to this theme of alignment and trust.
- 3:58And you've probably heard me multiple times in my classes as
- 4:02well as on this podcast and other episodes that it's the
- 4:06liver and the gallbladder Meridian channels.
- 4:09OK. The liver Meridian is connected
- 4:13to planning, control and our ability to go with the flow
- 4:18right non resistance. However, when it's blocked, we
- 4:24can feel frustrated, rigid or stuck in overthinking, right
- 4:31ruminating like just, you know, hamster on a wheel going round
- 4:35and around and around. But when it's balanced, we feel
- 4:41more flexible emotionally, mentally, and physically.
- 4:45I will tell you that when you are in alignment, you are going
- 4:50to notice how much more at ease your body is.
- 4:54Like that's kind of like a major side perk here because honestly,
- 4:57it's more about like you want the flexibility in your mind,
- 5:01right? So you don't want to just be
- 5:02pushing and forcing and controlling everything because
- 5:05that's just exhausting. And when you're in alignment,
- 5:09life feels less like you're pushing and more like, oh, this,
- 5:15this just happened. This was just in flow.
- 5:17This is so easy. And it's just like, it's
- 5:20literally, like I said before, it's kind of like you're always
- 5:23taking an exhale. Now your gallbladder Meridian,
- 5:27which pairs with the liver, works very closely with that
- 5:31organ, not just physically in terms of its anatomical
- 5:35functions, but especially energetically.
- 5:38So it's associated with decision making and courage.
- 5:44So when energy here is out of balance, we are more likely to
- 5:50second guess ourselves or we hesitate to act.
- 5:54That's where the the the lack of courage comes up.
- 5:57It's like we might have the courage to want to do something.
- 6:01And that's more paired in the lung Meridian.
- 6:04It's the courage to even have the idea to do something.
- 6:08But when we take that moment and pause and hesitate to act, and
- 6:13then we go, Oh no, no, no, forget it, I'm not actually
- 6:19going to move. That's your gallbladder.
- 6:23Now when your gallbladder Meridian channel is flowing like
- 6:28water flowing through a hose so easily, you trust yourself, you
- 6:34make clear decisions and you move forward feeling confident.
- 6:39There's no second guessing. You're like, you know what, this
- 6:42is my decision and I'm going with it.
- 6:45And that's it. You just move.
- 6:49So This is why yen Yoga is such a powerful practice beyond the
- 6:54physical stretch, because by holding these poses that
- 6:59stimulate, let's just say these two Meridian channels, because
- 7:02this is what this episode is all about.
- 7:05You're not just stretching your body, but you're also releasing
- 7:09stuck energy and reconnecting with that part of yourself that
- 7:13knows how to trust, that knows how to decide, that knows how to
- 7:19flow right? Doesn't that sound really
- 7:24incredible to be able to experience that kind of
- 7:27alignment and to see it happening in your physical
- 7:33reality? I mean, yes, I'm not going to
- 7:36negate the fact that the physical stretch is going to be
- 7:38like, oh, hey, I can like I can move much more easily and I
- 7:43don't feel so tight and sore and achy.
- 7:46That's great. But isn't it great to not feel
- 7:50achy and sore and rigid in your life like with the decisions
- 7:55that you make? So let's do something together
- 7:59here. So if you are driving, then
- 8:04you're going to want to come back to this part, OK?
- 8:06Because I really want you to experience what this is going to
- 8:12be like. We're going to do a little
- 8:14guided mini practice and the beautiful thing is we're going
- 8:18to do 1 yin pose that works and stimulates both Meridian
- 8:23channels. OK, Recline butterfly.
- 8:28This is why I love this pose because it is so incredible and
- 8:34it's accessible for many people. So when you're ready, find a
- 8:40comfortable position. Could be on your mat, it could
- 8:43be on carpet, could even be lying in bed if you happen to be
- 8:47listening to this episode of Bed and you're going to bring the
- 8:51soles of your feet together and let your knees open up.
- 8:55Now if you're like, oh, I'm feeling a little stiff here,
- 8:58grab some support blocks, blankets, towels, pillows.
- 9:02Those work beautifully. Put them underneath your knees.
- 9:06OK, so this feels a little bit more accessible on a physical
- 9:10level. Now if you want to bring your
- 9:14feet in a little bit closer towards your body or further
- 9:18away to, you know, amplify or to soften the sensations, trust
- 9:27what feels right. OK, And now close your eyes
- 9:35down, begin to bring your breath into your body.
- 9:44And as we stimulate both the liver and the gallbladder
- 9:46Meridian channels, the liver Meridian runs through the inside
- 9:51of the legs and the gallbladder channel runs on the outside of
- 9:55the legs. So I want you to imagine any
- 10:00stuck energy. OK?
- 10:03Maybe there's something in your life that you're feeling like
- 10:06you need to control. Maybe you're over planning or
- 10:11you're second guessing something.
- 10:16With each inhale and exhale, you're going to start to soften
- 10:20and release. OK, letting go of the
- 10:24resistance. So the breath work is going to
- 10:28be this. Bring one hand onto your belly
- 10:31and one hand over your heart. You're going to inhale gently
- 10:37through your nose for a count of four.
- 10:41You're going to pause at the top hold, suspend the breath in for
- 10:45just a moment, and then you're going to exhale slowly through
- 10:50your mouth for a count of six. OK, so inhaling for four through
- 10:56the nose, exhaling softly through the mouth for six.
- 11:06Let's do this three times. OK Inhale 1 234.
- 11:16Hold exhale open mouth 654321. Inhale 1234.
- 11:35Hold exhale 654 3211 More time Inhale 1234.
- 11:53Hold exhale 654321. Now let your breath come back to
- 12:05an unmeasured state. Now notice how your body
- 12:10softened with each exhale. Notice by just being in the
- 12:17pose, in stillness and breathing, you're practicing
- 12:21trust. Trust in your body and what it
- 12:24was capable. Trusting in your breath, knowing
- 12:30how to guide it in and out through your nose.
- 12:33And that led to trusting yourself.
- 12:37Now bring your knees back together and just take a moment.
- 12:43Sit up nice and tall and your eyes still closed.
- 12:52In this moment here, notice what has shifted in your body, in
- 12:58your breath, in your mind. Feel that layer of peace, of
- 13:06tranquility, not of forcing, not of controlling, but allowing the
- 13:14energy to flow and trusting the wisdom within you.
- 13:17That is alignment, OK? That is alignment.
- 13:23Trusting the wisdom within you and allowing yourself to flow
- 13:28through life with ease. This is why I say that Yin yoga
- 13:35is so much more than just a physical stretch.
- 13:40It's a practice of balancing energy flow, supporting your
- 13:46meridians, and teaching your body and mind how to let go of
- 13:51control and live in alignment. So if you love this just quick
- 13:58mini little practice, imagine what you could get in my 14 Day
- 14:03Unwind and Calm Acupressure, Reflexology and Yin Yoga series.

- 14:19help calm your nervous system, to also bring balance and flow
- 14:24back into your Meridian channels, not just through yin
- 14:29yoga, but also through acupressure.
- 14:32And this in turn helps you to return to a frequency of trust
- 14:36in flow. Because alignment, let me tell
- 14:41you, it's not something that you chase, OK?
- 14:45It's something that you come back to again and again with
- 14:49practices that support both your body and your energy.

- 15:38body and your energy. So thank you so much for
- 15:42pressing play on today's episode.

- 15:50Share this episode with someone who needs the reminder to self
- 15:53trust. And that alignment isn't found
- 15:56in overthinking. It's actually found in slowing
- 16:00down breathing and letting energy flow.
- 16:05Until next time, remember your body already knows the way.
- 16:09Just get out of the way and trust yourself.
