- 0:12Welcome, my dear ones, to another episode of Living
- 0:17Without Fear. This is my 135th solo episode
- 0:24and I'm truly grateful you're here with me.
- 0:28Thank you for taking this time for your heart, your inner
- 0:32world, and your own healing journey.
- 0:37There are mornings when I wake up and something inside feels
- 0:43heavy, a fog, a kind of disorientation, something that
- 0:50reminds me of a place I never want to return to.
- 0:56I lived in that darkness for many years, with
- 1:01antidepressants, countless therapy sessions, and the deep
- 1:06fear that this state was simply my destiny.
- 1:12I don't want to go back there and I know many of you feel the
- 1:18same right now. Living in Switzerland at this
- 1:24time of the year, the sky is often grey on grey, the days are
- 1:30short, the rain rarely stops and the sun hides for what feels
- 1:37like forever. And maybe it hits me hard this
- 1:42year because I just came back from 2 warm golden weeks in
- 1:48Egypt. Summer sun, light on my skin,
- 1:53warmth in the air, everything my soul loves.
- 2:00Our bodies remember that kind of light.
- 2:04They hold it in their cells like a quiet treasure.
- 2:10And when we return suddenly to coldness and dim skies, our
- 2:16system needs time to adjust. It is not weakness.
- 2:21It is simply nature. Our nervous system reacts to
- 2:27contrast and sometimes all it asks for it's gentleness,
- 2:35softness, understanding. No wonder my body protests a
- 2:42little when it wakes up under a cold silver sky.
- 2:48But these mornings, they don't mean I'm going backwards.
- 2:54They are simply signals. And this episode is for all of
- 3:00you who also live in places where winter can feel long and
- 3:06colourless, because there are ways to move through it gently,
- 3:12lovingly, without medication and without sinking into a dark hole
- 3:20again. When I wake up with that first
- 3:24uncomfortable feeling, I don't fight it anymore.
- 3:29I place my hand on my heart and I whisper, I'm grateful.
- 3:36I'm alive, I'm healthy, I'm surrounded by people I love.
- 3:43Sometimes that's enough, sometimes it's not.
- 3:49And when the heaviness stays, I breathe, close my eyes and say,
- 3:57I'm with you, Esther, it's OK, you've been through a lot and I
- 4:05have. This year alone was a mountain.
- 4:09Losing my mum, supporting my grieving father who didn't know
- 4:15how to handle his emotions and often reacted harshly.
- 4:21Taking care of his life, his pain, his belongings, cleaning
- 4:27my parents house with my brother, dividing things that
- 4:33carried memories, meaning, stories.
- 4:37It was too much, and I handled so much of it alone because I
- 4:43believed I had to be both modern father to myself, that as a
- 4:51single woman I needed to carry everything.
- 4:56So the first step when that morning sadness appears is
- 5:02acknowledgement, a soft inner bowl to every part of me that
- 5:09worked so hard to hold life together.
- 5:14And the second step is movement. Not traumatic, not forced, just
- 5:22movement. I don't let myself sink into the
- 5:28bed or the thoughts. I start my routine like a quiet
- 5:34promise to myself. I strengthen my body.
- 5:40I listen to something that uplifts me.
- 5:45I meditate for 20 minutes. I journal.
- 5:49I have writes down what I am grateful for.
- 5:53I asked myself what tiny action can I take today to uplift
- 6:00myself and what I've noticed over the years in this.
- 6:08These small rituals create an inner rhythm that holds me.
- 6:14There is something sacred about repetition.
- 6:19It is like telling my nervous system, you know this path, you
- 6:25are safe, you are supported. And the more I return to these
- 6:31habits, the quicker I find my way back to myself.
- 6:36Even on the hardest mornings and if my day has no fixed schedule,
- 6:45I do the most healing thing I know.
- 6:48I put on my walking shoes, even if the sky breaks open with rain
- 6:56and I disappear into the woods. The smell of the wet ground, the
- 7:03whispering trees, the wind brushing through the branches.
- 7:09Nature resets me and honestly, I have never returned home from
- 7:16these walks feeling depressed. Nature clears my thoughts,
- 7:23brings me back into my body and dissolves the greatness inside,
- 7:30even if the world outside is still dim.
- 7:36To nourish myself even more, I listen to Inspiring Voices,
- 7:42podcasts that ignite hope, stories that remind me that life
- 7:50is still beautiful, that I am still growing, still
- 7:55discovering, still allowed to reinvent who I am.
- 8:01And then something happened. Today, while I was preparing
- 8:06this episode, my doorbell rang. A young woman stood there in the
- 8:14rain asking for anything, money, clothes, some something for her
- 8:21two children. She looked so lost and I felt
- 8:28her pain immediately. I found a winter jacket I no
- 8:33longer wear and some toys from my son's things I plan to bring
- 8:40to the second hand store today. And when she put them into her
- 8:46bag, she gave me a shy, fleeting smile.
- 8:51A tiny light in the rain and my heart warmed.
- 8:57I felt my entire stage shift. Sometimes the quickest way out
- 9:05of our own heaviness is a simple act of kindness.
- 9:11Maybe today, if you're feeling low, you could give a few coins,
- 9:17buy someone a coffee, hold a door open with a smile, or let
- 9:24someone go ahead of you in a queue.
- 9:28Maybe you could send a little message to someone you love.
- 9:34I'm thinking of you. I appreciate you, I love you.
- 9:39Maybe you could check in with someone who's I'll, someone who
- 9:45feels lonely, someone you haven't seen in a while.
- 9:51And compassion doesn't always look grand.
- 9:56Often it's the quiet gestures. A soft how are you really?
- 10:04A warm Not to a stranger. A moment of patience when
- 10:09someone moves slower, slower than you'd like.
- 10:15These tiny threads of connection pull us gently back into life.
- 10:22They remind us that we belong, that there is warmth in this
- 10:28world, even when the sky is cold.
- 10:33Whenever we turn our heart towards someone else, our own
- 10:40weight becomes lighter. Here are a few more gentle ways
- 10:46to lift your spirit. On Gray winter days, light a
- 10:52candle and play music that reminds you of summer.
- 10:57Take a warm bath with essential oils like orange or Jasmine.
- 11:04Create a small ritual of beauty in your home.
- 11:09A corner with fresh flowers, a soft blanket, a favorite poem.
- 11:17Write a letter to your future self.
- 11:21Dance for two minutes in your kitchen, even if you feel silly.
- 11:27Learn something new, something tiny, like a phrase in another
- 11:32language. Plan a trip or a Daydream
- 11:37adventure. Call someone who makes you
- 11:41smile. Cook something nourishing and
- 11:45colourful. Declutter a single drawer and
- 11:50feel the relief of space. Wrap yourself in a coat and step
- 11:58outside for 10 breaths of real air.
- 12:03The most important truth is this.
- 12:08You can change your state, and when you do, everything you
- 12:13touch that day changes with you. Your decisions, your energy,
- 12:20your relationships, your purpose.
- 12:24I couldn't do that years ago when I was depressed because I
- 12:29didn't believe it was possible. I told myself the story that
- 12:35depression lived in my family for generations and that I had
- 12:42to live with it too. But that wasn't true.
- 12:47The shift was never going to come from outside.
- 12:52It always begins within. And my dear ones, if I was able
- 13:00to change my life from deep depression to inner strength,
- 13:06joy and emotional freedom, then you can too.
- 13:11You are not stuck. You are not destined to stay in
- 13:16the grey. You have power, gentle, soft,
- 13:21real power to change your state moment by moment, breath by
- 13:28breath. Thank you from my heart for
- 13:33spending this time with me today.
- 13:37If this episode touched something inside you, share it
- 13:42with someone who might need a little light.
- 13:46And remember, you're not alone on this journey.
- 13:51You are stronger than you think and you carry so much beauty
- 13:57inside. And if you feel called to go
- 14:01deeper, to shift your state with more ease, or to transform
- 14:07something that has been on your heart, you're warmly invited to
- 14:13connect with me. You can book a free coaching
- 14:17session through the link in the bio.
- 14:20I would be honoured to walk a little part of your journey with
- 14:25you. I send you love, courage and the
- 14:30warm ray of sun for your day. Until next Thursday.
