- 0:01Hey. Hey, Yinning at Life Gang.
- 0:02It's Kimberly Roberts of the Soulfully in Brand.
- 0:05I'm here to dish out all things about traditional Chinese
- 0:08medicine, yin yoga, reflexology. And of course, I'm here to
- 0:13disrupt your mind. So thanks so much for pressing
- 0:18play on today's episode. Let's do this.
- 0:24Hello and welcome to another episode of the Yinning it Life
- 0:29podcast. I'm really super glad you're
- 0:31here. So today, what are we diving
- 0:34into? We are diving into a topic that
- 0:38has been on my mind for a while, but that people have been asking
- 0:44for clarification on. And so I want to talk about a
- 0:50little bit about yin yoga and mindset and how powerful the
- 0:56pause is because people are like, what are you talking about
- 1:02the pause? Like, we get that.
- 1:03We pause and we hold a pose for a while.
- 1:06Yeah, we get that part. But like, there's something that
- 1:09I'm missing. What does that have to do with
- 1:11my mindset? And more importantly, what does
- 1:14that have to do with creating an extraordinary delulu life,
- 1:19Right? Like that's really what people
- 1:22are asking for. And if you've been watching or
- 1:26you've been looking at any of my Instagram posts on, on Soulful
- 1:30Yin Yoga, I'm talking a lot recently about mindset and
- 1:35personal development and why? Because it's something that's
- 1:39really big on my heart right now where I am starting to see some
- 1:44massive transformation in my own life and in my own businesses.
- 1:49But now I'm even starting to see like with my students, how it's
- 1:57impacting and affecting them. In fact, one of my students
- 2:01emailed me this morning and she said to me, she's like, I just
- 2:04finished your five day mindset challenge.
- 2:07And she said, I was blown away at what you brought forward.
- 2:17And she's like, I've never done a mindset course like that
- 2:20before. She said, it's one thing, you
- 2:22know, she's like, I've been doing mindset work for a long
- 2:24time. And, you know, I've taken all
- 2:27these courses. And she said there was always
- 2:31something that was kind of missing with it.
- 2:33And I thought to myself, yeah, I know exactly what you mean.
- 2:36The missing part was the nervous system regulation, the
- 2:40embodiment, because it's one thing to tell yourself that you
- 2:44desire a certain thing, and then it's another thing for your
- 2:49nervous system and your subconscious mind to go, oh, OK,
- 2:55that's all right, that's safe. But you see, we're not taught
- 2:59this. So we recite all these
- 3:02affirmations over and over and over again, and then we wonder
- 3:05why nothing in our life is changing.
- 3:09And this is where the pause in a yen pose is really a massive
- 3:14game changer for a number of reasons.
- 3:17First and foremost, let's face it, we need to pause throughout
- 3:22the day. I mean, you don't have to pause
- 3:24for an hour several times a day. You could even pause for like 3
- 3:28minutes in a day. But we all need to pause, OK?
- 3:33We're not meant to live like robots on autopilot where we're
- 3:36just like going round and around and around all over all the
- 3:40time. We are meant to have some
- 3:42stillness. And I say this in my yen classes
- 3:46that I teach on my Soulful yen app.
- 3:48I say this all the time. Without your awareness, nothing
- 3:54changes. Nothing.
- 3:56If you're not aware, nothing is going to change.
- 4:02But when you pause, whether it's like a 2 minute pose, a 5 minute
- 4:06pose, there's opportunity there. And this is where a lot of
- 4:11people sometimes just check out and they're like, yeah, I'm just
- 4:14going to like hang out in this pose for two minutes.
- 4:18And they don't really start to think or contemplate for
- 4:22themselves what could be or what am I thinking about?
- 4:29And how are my thoughts making me feel?
- 4:32And how are these feeling thoughts creating emotions in my
- 4:38body that I know I'm storing, that I know with yen yoga, I can
- 4:41release especially lower vibrational emotions, right?
- 4:45Like fear and anger and worry. Like we have the ability in yen
- 4:50yoga poses to release those emotions that we store in our
- 4:54organs. But when you backtrack it and
- 4:58you start with, OK, well, what I think makes me feel a certain
- 5:02way and how I feel produces a certain emotion in my body that
- 5:07I hold. But then it also creates a
- 5:09specific belief, right? I keep thinking the same thing
- 5:14over and over again. I am going to start to create a
- 5:17belief around that. And it might be a good belief or
- 5:20it might be a pretty crappy belief.
- 5:25And with the pause, the awareness comes of like, oh, I
- 5:30just thought that. Oh, I just thought that again.
- 5:34And we're not taking it from a judgment or critical place, OK?
- 5:38We're taking it from a curious, contemplative approach.
- 5:44Oh, OK. I keep thinking this over and
- 5:46over again. Is this thought really serving
- 5:49me? Yes or no?
- 5:55Right. And if it's a thought that's not
- 5:57serving you, this is where you get to shift it with your
- 6:01awareness. So with my my student, this is
- 6:05what happened to her. So she took my five day
- 6:07challenge and during it, she just had this moment where she
- 6:13was like, I get it. I understand this.
- 6:17I understand all the victim mindset, the creator mindset.
- 6:21I understand the identity work that I have to do.
- 6:24I understand like the decoding I have to do, the trusting I have
- 6:28to do, The Who I need to become. And she was like, one day she
- 6:33was like, I just decided, you know what?
- 6:36I hate my job. I don't want to do it anymore
- 6:41and I want to be happier doing something else.
- 6:45So she took inspired aligned action.
- 6:47This is a big part, right? She took inspired aligned action
- 6:51and she decided to apply for three different jobs.
- 6:55Now, all of these jobs she wasn't quote UN quote on paper
- 7:00qualified for, but in her mind she had cultivated a mindset of,
- 7:05you know what? I think I could pull these off.
- 7:09So she applied, and two out of the three jobs that she applied
- 7:13for, she was offered the position.
- 7:17So where she was working before, she was working for a really
- 7:21crappy organization. She had a boss that was just
- 7:26basically a bully and treated her like crap and didn't value
- 7:31or respect her input on anything.
- 7:35She was always working overtime and on weekends.
- 7:38She had no family life balance, work life balance at all.
- 7:43There was not even any such discussion about that in her
- 7:46office about work life balance. She was exhausted and burnt out.
- 7:51The people she worked with were toxic and they were manipulative
- 7:56and they were just not a good energy to be around.
- 8:00And she was making $40,000 a year, which really for the
- 8:04amount of work that she was doing in a year, she was
- 8:06probably actually taking in about 20 K.
- 8:10So working a lot and making no money.
- 8:13The job that she got that she ended up taking, the minute she
- 8:18spoke with the, with the, her boss, her future boss at that
- 8:22point who interviewed here, she felt a connection.
- 8:24She was like, Oh, my God, like, there's something here that I'm
- 8:28like, this just feels good. They were on the same page about
- 8:32work life balance. She got to meet some of the
- 8:35other people so that she would be prospectively working with.
- 8:38She got good vibes from them. She looked around the office.
- 8:41People looked happy. They looked happy to be there.
- 8:45And, you know, like, they believed in, like, OK, you work
- 8:50Monday to Friday. You pick your hours.
- 8:53But as long as you work, you're 37 1/2 hours a week, I don't
- 8:58care what time you come in. Her boss was like, if you want
- 8:59to start 6:00 AM one day and 9:00 at the other, I don't care
- 9:02as long as you get your work done and in the amount of time
- 9:07I'm happy. I don't micromanage.
- 9:08And she was like, Oh my God, thank you.
- 9:12And then she heard about their benefits plan and it was like
- 9:16next level incredible compared to the benefits plan that she
- 9:19currently had. And she was getting a $60,000
- 9:25increase in salary. So she was going from making 40
- 9:28KA year to 100 KA year in a job that she was going to love,
- 9:34where she had a boss that was going to be cooperative,
- 9:37respectful and supportive and working with other like minded
- 9:41people. Like talk about a major yinning
- 9:46at life opportunity for her. Now, I gave her all the theory
- 9:54in these five days, but what really helped her was the
- 9:58embodiment practices, the nervous system regulation.
- 10:03That's what made the difference. That was the game changer for
- 10:06her. That gave her the confidence and
- 10:08the courage to be like, you know what, I'm going to do this, I'm
- 10:12going to try. And she is so excited and she
- 10:16can't wait. She starts her job next week and
- 10:18she's also joining my 21 day accelerator program that starts
- 10:22on Monday as well. This is how to literally be
- 10:25living your extraordinary delusional life in 21 days.
- 10:30Now she's already over the moon that in five days she was able
- 10:34to shift her mindset and use the practice of yin yoga, breath
- 10:38work, and meditation to just really anchor in and embody the
- 10:44future version of herself that she believed in, that she wanted
- 10:48to be. And when you take that time to
- 10:51pause every single day, it doesn't have to be long.
- 10:56Maybe it's only like 5 minutes a day, but that is your
- 10:59invitation. That is an opportunity to be
- 11:04able to go. You know what?
- 11:06Maybe I can choose differently for myself because as I said
- 11:10before, if you're not aware, then you don't know what to
- 11:15change. But the moment you become aware,
- 11:18then you have an option. You can go, oh, OK.
- 11:22Well, yeah, I could still continue to, you know, be the
- 11:25same person as I am. That's a choice.
- 11:28Or I can go, you know what? I'm going to take a different
- 11:31path. I'm going to choose differently
- 11:32for myself and see where that takes me.
- 11:36But without the awareness, there's no choice.
- 11:40And without awareness, there's no growth, there's no expansion,
- 11:44there's no possibility to really thrive in your life.
- 11:48And we're, we were put on this earth to thrive, not to survive,
- 11:54to thrive. And you know, right from the
- 11:58very first time that I did Yan yoga, I, you know, even before
- 12:04when I was in that first class that I took that I thought was
- 12:07an Ashtango class, but it wasn't.
- 12:10And all of a sudden this teacher puts us in this pose and I'm
- 12:13like, wait a minute, like, why aren't we standing up?
- 12:15This is Ashtango level 1. And I'm like, OK, why are we in
- 12:19like this childlike pose? And why are we here for so long?
- 12:24When I finally realized I was not in an Ashtanga class, I
- 12:27didn't know what I was in, but I knew I wasn't in Ashtanga.
- 12:30And I went, OK, you know what? I'm just going to soften into
- 12:33this because it is what it is. Not going to get up and leave.
- 12:36I'm going to just finish this practice.
- 12:40About part way through into the class, I was like, there's like
- 12:45something happening here. Like, yeah, I can feel like my
- 12:49body is stretching out, which, yeah, OK, sure, it's great.
- 12:53But I was very, very, very flexible back then.
- 12:56So the stretch was not really that exciting to me.
- 13:00But I was like, there's something going on here upstairs
- 13:04in the mind. There's there's something
- 13:06changing here. I'm becoming aware of things.
- 13:09I was starting to have conversations in my head of
- 13:11like, I don't like this part of my life.
- 13:14I think that things are supposed to be different for me.
- 13:18I wonder what I could do to shift.
- 13:21And I knew nothing about mindset and personal development back
- 13:26then. I was just working in a
- 13:28corporate job that, you know, what was very stressful?
- 13:33And I started doing yoga because it was helping me with the
- 13:36stress. And that's what I was there for.
- 13:41But when I started all of a sudden having these inner
- 13:43conversations, these inner dialogues with myself, I was
- 13:46like, whoa, I'm like, this is kind of cool.
- 13:53I never had time to think of these thoughts before.
- 13:56I was just always too busy doing right, doing work, being
- 14:01bothered, being, you know, like, interrupted.
- 14:06Like there was just no time. And even when I was doing like,
- 14:10like I was a hardcore Ashtangi for many years, you're, if
- 14:15you've ever done ashtango, like it's a continuous moving,
- 14:18flowing vinyasa type practice. You're not sitting around and
- 14:22just like, you know, lying there and breathing, you're moving.
- 14:26And for me, that movement wasn't creating pause.
- 14:32It was just this continuous cycle of I'm moving my body and
- 14:34I'm breathing and I'm moving my body and I'm breathing and I'm
- 14:36moving my body and I'm breathing and that's what I'm doing.
- 14:40But there wasn't the opportunity to pause and to create
- 14:45awareness, not until the end when you were lying in
- 14:48Shavasana. And by then it was like, well,
- 14:51you know, but it often wasn't a long enough Shavasana And I was
- 14:56tired and I was sweaty and I was just like, oh, thank God, I'm
- 14:59just lying here in Shavasana. And that's all I would think
- 15:01about is, thank God I'm lying in Shavasana, but with the end
- 15:06whole other ball game, each time you pull, you pause, whether
- 15:12it's you're pausing in the stillness of the pose or you're
- 15:17pausing in between to rebound. There's an opportunity for
- 15:24contemplation, introspection, awareness.
- 15:28And with all of that comes the opportunity to change anything
- 15:32that you want to change. And that's what happened with my
- 15:37client and now she's moving into her dream job and she's so
- 15:45excited about her life and this, you know, $60,000 increase in
- 15:50salary. She's actually going to be
- 15:53working less than she was when she was in her 40K salary.
- 15:57And she's like, now she's like, I have extra money to be able to
- 16:00invest and pour more into my own personal self development, you
- 16:05know, to maybe pay off some, some debt that I was carrying
- 16:08around and just live a higher quality of life for myself and
- 16:12for my family. And she's like, in five days, I
- 16:17did that. So she's like, I can't even
- 16:18imagine what journey you're going to take me through in the
- 16:2321 days. And I'm like, you just wait and
- 16:25see because scientifically, they say that it takes a minimum of
- 16:3021 days for our brain to really rewire its neural pathways.
- 16:36It can certainly be done in a shorter period of time, but it
- 16:39requires a lot more effort, a lot more conscious effort and
- 16:45awareness. So I often say at the beginning
- 16:48of doing this mindset work, you know, you might be pausing a lot
- 16:52more often in order to reframe, reset, reframe, reset.
- 17:01But for me, this has been an embodied way of living for
- 17:07almost, I've been practicing yet so almost like 25 years.
- 17:13I've been teaching yin yoga for 25 years.
- 17:15I've been practicing for probably about, I was practicing
- 17:17for probably about 27 years. It was about two years before I
- 17:20did my yin yoga teacher training and it's completely changed my
- 17:28life. And I always thought back then
- 17:30there was so much more that was happening than just the physical
- 17:35stretch. I knew there was something
- 17:38deeper. And so this is your invitation
- 17:42to start to look at your own life and be like, if there's
- 17:47something that you want to shift, just know that you know
- 17:51what? With the right amount of pausing
- 17:55and awareness and compassion for yourself and patience, you can
- 18:05rewire your brain and start to create an extraordinary delulu
- 18:09life and live that extraordinary life like not just for a few
- 18:15days, but like for the rest of your life, even when life is
- 18:20quote UN quote life in you, right?
- 18:22Because this is the reality. If we were living just in a soul
- 18:27being and we had no human experience, then life would be a
- 18:32real bore because we would just be living out everything and we
- 18:35wouldn't actually be learning anything.
- 18:38There would be no growth, no expansion.
- 18:41But every time that you get hit with something that you're like,
- 18:47you know what? I really don't want to deal with
- 18:49this or oh, I didn't ask for that.
- 18:52It's an opportunity to grow. Or maybe it's.
- 18:56An opportunity to learn a lesson, OK, if I'm in this
- 18:59situation again, I'm sure is not going to turn and do the same
- 19:02thing over. I already learned that I'm here
- 19:04to do something else. And The thing is, is that we are
- 19:08not here to keep living the same experiences over and over and
- 19:14over again, especially the ones. That weren't so.
- 19:19Great. That didn't serve us.
- 19:22That really lowered our vibe and our frequency.
- 19:26You know, like once you've done it once, it's like, yeah, OK, I
- 19:30don't really want to relive that again.
- 19:32But the sad thing is, is that we often do We.
- 19:38Just keep. Repeating the same patterns over
- 19:40and over again because we are not aware that we're even
- 19:46repeating them in the first place.
- 19:49That's what often happens. We're not even aware.
- 19:53And so the. Power of the pause is key.
- 19:58It is the game changer to manifesting an incredibly
- 20:03extraordinary Dululu life. And when you?
- 20:08Can add awareness, introspection and then layer on top of that
- 20:18how to collapse the time. Accelerate.
- 20:24The time between where you're at now to where you desire to be,
- 20:28to who you are now, to who you desire to be.
- 20:33When you can. Learn to navigate that.
- 20:37Then you are. Literally unshakable and
- 20:40unstoppable in what you can create for yourself.
- 20:45So my. Invitation for you is to join
- 20:49the Soulful Yin app, come and practice and be given the
- 20:54opportunity to pause. Or you can.
- 20:59Come and join me in the five Set the Five day mindset challenge
- 21:02that is now on demand. So you can just download it and
- 21:05get instant access to it right away.
- 21:08Or you can join my 21 day accelerator, the Art of
- 21:13Collapsing Time program that starts on Monday, May 19th.
- 21:16OK, it's still on pre sale right now and you can join that and
- 21:20you will get lifetime access to that.
- 21:22So I'm going to link all of that up in the show notes for you.
- 21:25You can take a look at it. And you can.
- 21:29Start creating your extraordinary delulu life.
- 21:33You can start creating a massive awareness and I will tell you
- 21:38when you take time to pause. You are going.
- 21:42To be blown away at some of the thoughts that you've been
- 21:46thinking that have been creating your belief systems and your
- 21:50reality and you're going to be going, Oh my God, I cannot
- 21:53believe I was thinking that way. Well, no wonder my life is like
- 21:58this. So.
- 22:00When you get. Deliberate.
- 22:01Can you imagine what is available to you?
- 22:06Because you could be, you could do and you can have it all.
- 22:14So thanks SO. Much for pressing play on
- 22:16today's episode. I will see you next week on the
- 22:20Indian Life Podcast.
