- Cameron Cummings: Hello and welcome to the Cameron's Conversations podcast. And in today's episode, I'm gonna talk a little bit about how I'm getting on with my fast weight loss phase. So this would be day 19 of the fast weight loss phase and my weight has dropped really nicely. Post-spain I was at 83.3. And over those 19 days, I've dropped from 83.3 to 78.1 as of this morning, which if I'm not mistaken, makes me 5.2 kilos down, which is obviously... very, very fast weight loss, which is great. It's a little bit faster than I anticipated, I'll be honest. The first week was no surprise at all. I would have thought that it would drop at that pace, to be quite frank. I would have thought that it would have in a kind drop off post holiday, because post holiday it had been kind of closer to the sort of 81 and a half-ish mark, or kind of low 82s. So I was down a good bit from where I started at the kind of earlier part of this year, kind of like high 86 to 87. So obviously expected to be down a good bit after that, but then it's kept dropping actually, not quite as fast as the first week, but I still have averaged about one and half kilos a week, which is a phenomenal amount of weight loss. So I'm very, pleased with that. Now that won't continue indefinitely. I think it's always really important to just be realistic about that. One of the advantages you can give yourself with a weight loss phase is to not get too caught up on the kind of speed of it and expect it to stay the same as it is at the start, right? It's not going to happen that I'm going to keep dropping one and a half kilos a week. I'd love it if it did, because obviously in four weeks time, or three weeks time, I would be more than done, which is great, but that's not real life. It's going to slow down a bit because I'm going to have less weight to lose. And also you are going to have these kind of like impacts from a little bit of a slow down from a little bit of metabolic adaption and all the rest of it, which is going to happen. So I'm expecting things just to steady on out a wee bit. still expecting it to be fairly fast. I think it's quite likely I'll probably continue to see another kilo-ish a week or just under, which is gonna be still pretty bloody fast. And I would say I'm at that nice level where I do see a difference every week. I would say that's kind of bitten a little bit more. I would have said that the last set of progress photos, I definitely noticed that I tightened up quite a lot of my waist. And now, when I was training in the gym this week a couple of times, I definitely noticed that I put on a t-shirt that I hadn't worn in probably a month. I'm on calls to my 1-1 clients and I'm also on updates to people many many many many many times a week as well on top of YouTube and Instagram videos so I literally see my face non-stop so couldn't miss the fact that I am notably leaner and I actually was looking back even at a couple of updates I had sent clients even a month ago and you can see a bit of a difference in my jawline and all the rest of it. So very pleased with the visual changes and I would say that I've kind of reached that first phase now where being notably leaner it started to give me that little bit of a boost in terms of motivation as well. Like I was quite pleased with how the scales were dropping anyway, I was quite motivated in general and very much like because I've done all this before I'm very happy to just crack on with the process and life goes on. I would definitely say that either yesterday or day before when I could have caught myself in the gym I felt I was like, okay, I'm starting to look a good bit better. And I think there's a point in everybody's journey like that where you kind of look in the mirror and you're like, hmm, like, yeah, actually I am looking a bit sharper as well. Like I do like the way I look a little bit more and I'm very transparent about this. Like it makes a difference, right? The way I looked at the back end of that muscle gain phase wasn't a bad place to be. Like I was still comfortable in clothes and all the rest of it by all means, but my jawline had faded and I was looking a little bit kind of softer and all the rest of it, as you would expect after 14 months of deliberately slowly but steadily gaining weight, you're going to see that, right? Because yes, I gained a chunk of muscle and I can see that actually already, which is really pleasant. It's been a kind of surprise as well that I've maybe put on a bit more muscle than I first anticipated, which is great, but also alongside that there's a little bit of fat gain too and that's just part and parcel of it. So yeah, that's been a real positive. So in terms of kind of the usual things that are worth running through and kind of what I'm experiencing. So hunger's been interesting. It's been really minimal. this week. When I say that, it's not that it's not been there at all, but I have been super, super busy this week. I've had loads and loads of catch up calls with clients. I've had quite a few clients, potential clients coming in for calls as well, which is obviously great, but that's kept me very, very, very, very busy. So what that means is I've really not had time to think about it too much. And because my nutrition is so routine right now, smoothie for breakfast, or I've kind of my alternate breakfast, which I probably have once or twice week which like you know three or four Weetabix and a protein shake and I'm a bit poor on time where like this morning I had to be at the door at 5 a.m. because I was doing some filming in a gym so I needed to be there super super sharp when it was quiet and so That's been really, really good in that sense as well. So structured, it's felt so easy because I've known what I had. I actually had the same lunch for three days running there, chicken pesto pasta, which is actually delicious and very filling. And it's so chock full of veg at the moment. There's actually been two of the three lunches, I couldn't finish the portion of it. Like that's how much veg is in it as well. I mean, it still tastes brilliant because obviously the pesto as well and the chicken's really nice in it too. It just works for me. So I'm gonna definitely keep leaning into that as a good option for me because it's kind of efficient. I can cook a double batch of it that lasts me four meals and I could probably even split it into five portions. If I continue to find that I'm not even finishing my portion then that's great. And that's the ideal scenario right on a diet is to almost be struggling to finish your portion. So I have a bit of pasta in it, tons of veggies and obviously a bunch of the Hecatalia chicken sausages as well. Not sponsored but they are bloody tasty. So yeah that's been good and dinner's just been slightly more varied as well. I've had a few different things but hunger's really not been a challenge to be quite frankly, it really really hasn't. There was only one night where I was up way later than normal so I'm not someone who stays up late at all but my girlfriend was getting home from a of a friend's party so she was home at just after midnight so that meant that I actually was really quite hungry that night in bed because I obviously would not be up that late generally I'd be in bed about two hours before that so I did feel a little bit of hunger, took me a little while too longer to get to sleep because of that but in the morning I was just fine and I think it's just a perfect example of like a lot of these things you can just tolerate. Like yes, it was a wee bit annoying to be like up so late and then get a bit of hunger and I probably didn't get to sleep like one in the morning, which isn't ideal. But that's very much that wouldn't have happened if I'd been in bed at my normal time. It was just because I was up long enough to actually feel that hunger. So there's definitely bits there. Like it's definitely there in the periphery, but I've not found that very challenging. Tiredness has not been bad either. This has been an interesting week. I've had two matches because it's the end of my basketball season. We have a couple playoff matches ahead probably, but other than that, that's kind of it. just about done. So this week's been a bit interesting with two matches and a training session, technically two, but I ended up just kind of stepping out one because it was just a bit much to be a basketball four nights in a row. That's maybe something I could have done when I was 18, but I'm not sure if my knees fancy that when I'm into my 30s. So I'm a bit sensible about that. But yeah, mean, other than that, it's been fine. My energy levels have been grand. I've not really found the tiredness too bad. As I've mentioned before in the podcast, that's often the biggest challenge I get is the tiredness rather than the hunger. So I think it does, it's something I always harp on about, but you know, if you're kind of volume eating where you are having loads of veggies, lots of protein, et cetera, it makes all the bloody difference. And this has been the perfect example of it. And I seem to have cracked what's working for me really well right now. So I'll just keep bleeding into it until I get sick of it. You know, even if I'm having that pesto pasta lunch, like two, three, four days a week, if I'm not hungry at all and I'm really bloody busy ⁓ with coaching right now, as I always am, like it just means that I'm not that fussed and especially with like lunches. because I am just having it 15 minutes, getting a quick walk in and then back to work. It just doesn't phase me. So there's definitely merit in that that kind of very repetitive eating, I guess, to an extent. But one of the things is someone might be listening to this and think, oh, that sounds like a bit of a chore. But remember that this is only short term for me. I always plan to do an eight week push of a diet I'm not faffing about. So it doesn't bother me to have a similar lunch three days a week, for example. It just does not phase me because this is all relatively short term. ⁓ and obviously I'm having more variety at dinners which is fine as well. So there is variety in there just not so much ⁓ early in the day. So that's a trade-off I'm very willing to make for the lack of kind of stress and perceived effort I think around it too. So other than that it's been really really good. Definitely noticing clothing as well. I've got a couple of hoodies that one hoodie that's always a bit of a kind of more oversized hoodie anyway which is now ⁓ swamping me a little bit. I wore it the other day over my other hoodie. I definitely couldn't have done that you know a month ago and I've got a smaller kind of fitting north face top, which north face tops are always bloody small fitting, but anyway, maybe it's just because I go to the gym, but that's fitting me much better as well. And you know, the way it looks, I like a lot more, et cetera. So I'm finding quite a few items of clothing that maybe we're getting a little bit too tight are now pretty comfy, which is also, again, quite motivating. I'm not necessarily, if I'm like very transparent, someone who's like obsessing about this. And I often stress this to clients. One of the hacks that I have is I just like see it as like life goes on. like April's flying by, I've been kind of focusing on this faster weight loss phase for the majority of April and April has flown by and I know the next five weeks will fly by as well. So I don't constantly check in the mirror for progress or all those things, I just very much stick to the process and I know by the time I get another two, three, four weeks in, I think probably about a month from now I'm going to be feeling really, really bloody good because I am gonna be pushing onto the really quite lean stage for me, because that's generally where I get to about that 74-ish kilo mark. For me is me getting like fairly lean, of like starting to see a very good amount of definition and just feeling very, very comfortable. So that's kind of the goal. In the meantime though, I have a stag do and two Corfu on Wednesday, no Thursday, I'm heading off. So I'm slightly frightened. One of the guys was talking about drinking in the airport and we're arriving at 5 a.m. Thankfully, I have volunteered to be driver. I don't have to, can't drink, I should say, which is obviously a terrible shame. I'm very, very sad about that it's not that in tea total but I cannot be bothered drinking at five in the morning that is way way past my my tolerance for that kind of thing I'm like a two pint person like two pints twice a year that's pretty much my lot so that's always gonna be a bit more of a challenge and basically my game plan for that is to just not eat like an empty obviously there will be more alcohol consumed like that's reality I will probably offer to make dinner maybe once or twice and try and just make some like steaks and stuff like that which is always a safe bet get chunk of protein and nothing too crazy if there's some veggies with it. And I'll just make sure that I keep my protein up and things like that. I actually find that in most places, and now it's so easy to get like higher protein foods in kind of like little supermarkets and stuff, it's really not an issue. And in Europe, I find that to be especially the case. I often think their products are better than ours. So that shouldn't be too much of an issue. My calories will go up undoubtedly because of the alcohol, but I will moderate that as best I get the opportunity to do. And I'll just keep my food sensible. And do you know what? If I have four days maintenance I'm quite content with that it's very unlikely I'm going to drop anything meaningful over that time but I'll see what I can do maybe on the Thursday and depending on what it looks like in our travel times it might not be so bad but ⁓ yeah that's going to be an experience ⁓ I'll report back afterwards hopefully I don't come back with a ⁓ stamp on my lower back of god knows what no ragrets or something like that from the stag do we could do we could do without that but anyway that is enough about me and my current weight loss phase and how it is going. Hopefully you are having a bloody brilliant week. The sun is shining so I'm away to get out in that and get out and enjoy it for half an hour before it probably disappears. So hopefully you're having a great week enjoying the sunshine and I'll speak to you soon.
