- Jessica Figueroa: We are back with another episode of Just for Today. We're here together. We do little things just for today that added to the big things. Okay, so today I want to share with you guys I was having a conversation with an incredible woman, and she was telling me about listening to a podcast about fasting. And as you guys know, fasting is very, very trendy, but it's biblical, which means it might be trendy, but it's been around for a very long time. It's in the Bible. But What was interesting, and then I later listened to it, is this podcast was very confusing because it was talking about fasting for twelve hours. And but the people calling in and the conversations, it was very confusing until she realized, and then I realized that they were talking about not eating for twelve hours when you're sleeping. Just the couple hours before you s wake after you before you go to sleep, after you wake up. And we were both like, are people waking up in the middle of the night eating? Is that a thing? I mean, I know I did during my pregnancies. It was shredded, what do they call that? Frosted mini weeds. yes. A bowl of frosted mini weeds most nights in the middle of the night because the hunger pain was so real. But that's the only time in my life I've done that. I don't make a habit out of getting up and eating. Then I got thinking, is are people doing that? Because it's very unhealthy. Your digestive system doesn't get a chance to rest. Your body doesn't get a chance from switching from burning food to stored energy. your heart needs a rest. Guys, there's there's lots of benefits to fasting, but I don't want you to think of fasting during the day, the trendy thing right now. But if you're somebody, and you don't have to raise your hand, no one has to know, but if you're someone that is in this habit of eating, waking up in the night to eat, or not even giving your body like 10 to 12 hours through the nighttime without a rest of not eating. I want you to think about that, okay? Because that is not that's not healthy. So just for today, I want you to think about the hours you sleep and try to add it up to 10 to 12 where you're not eating, whether it's a few hours before you go to sleep, or maybe it's a couple hours after the morning. But try to, including when you sleep, which you should be sleeping eight to nine hours. So add a couple hours onto that, either on the front or the back end, and don't put food into your body, okay, unless a doctor is telling you to. Let's make sure that we're giving our bodies, our stomach, our digestive tract, the rest that we're also giving our physical body while we're sleeping. And if this is a habit you've got into and you need help, ask for help because it's just going to cause a lot of problems down the road. So just for today, we're not going to think of fasting during daytime. We're going to think about not eating while we sleep and some of the time surrounding when we sleep. All right, guys, just for today. I'll see you tomorrow.
