- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And in this episode of The
- 0:43Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a hypnosis session
- 0:47to bring about a resource state, which probably sounds
- 0:51counterintuitive, and that is because it has. 2.
- 0:55Resources that are almost polar. Opposite.
- 1:00And that is passion and indifference, and it was
- 1:03actually created. For.
- 1:05A client that. Used to head.
- 1:07Up a department and because they had then taken a less
- 1:13responsibility role, found themselves with.
- 1:17People, they used to. Line manage now being their boss
- 1:20and creating difficult situations for them and that was
- 1:24triggering for them and what they wanted, what the ideal
- 1:27outcome for them was to be passionate about the work that
- 1:32they do but kind of indifferent about the politics and the game
- 1:35playing that can happen in certain.
- 1:38Corporate. Situations, and you can think of
- 1:40it as the stoic pendulum of acceptance and control.
- 1:44Acceptance and control are polar opposites, and yet both are.
- 1:48Highly useful. To manage difficult situations.
- 1:51So this is passionate indifference, and I'd like you
- 1:55to think about where in your life would you like to feel more
- 1:59passion for and more enthusiasm for, and where would you like?
- 2:02To feel. Like you don't really care.
- 2:05More ambivalence, more indifference, and you might find
- 2:08that the. Ability to.
- 2:10Effortlessly switch between being very enthusiastic and
- 2:14passionate about certain things and almost like you couldn't
- 2:17care less about something else. Becomes a superpower to really
- 2:21think about. Which of these resource states
- 2:25would be most useful for different contexts in your life?
- 2:29It was created. For a.
- 2:30Specific individual. Therefore, some of the
- 2:32references might relate to certain corporate situations
- 2:35that you just don't recognize or resonate with because it was
- 2:39created for them. In which case, disregard
- 2:42anything that doesn't quite fit and hone into anything that
- 2:45does. And if you do like the idea of
- 2:47some kind of a bespoke session created.
- 2:50For you. There will be a link in the show
- 2:52notes where you can schedule that free 30 minute Zoom
- 2:54consultation. Call with me and we'll have a
- 2:57chat just to see if I'm the right a hypnotherapist to be
- 2:59working with you. In the meantime, this session
- 3:02might be helpful. So find a quiet, comfortable
- 3:05place where you won't be disturbed.
- 3:07Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 3:41you breathe in, just imagine breathing in pure concentrated
- 3:51relaxation and breathe in that relaxation, allowing it to be
- 3:58distributed to every cell in your body.
- 4:06And as you exhale, feel any tension, any stress, any
- 4:16worries, feeling like it's being displaced and leaving your body
- 4:25in your outward breath, maybe you can think of the relaxation
- 4:34like oxygen and any tension like carbon dioxide.
- 4:42Breathing in what your body needs and exhaling anything
- 4:48you've been holding on to that isn't necessary.
- 4:59And the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you become as you
- 5:04allow tension in your body to just be released.
- 5:09With every breath, feel yourself going deeper into comfort,
- 5:16deeper into relaxation, deeper into a state of effortless
- 5:30awareness, Eyelids feeling heavier and heavier as you
- 5:38realize with your eyes closed just how much more of your
- 5:43attention you can give to the sound of my voice.
- 5:53Feel the rhythm of your breathing, steady and calm as
- 5:59your mind begins to slow down, to settle, to open.
- 6:12And I wonder if you can imagine a warm wave of relaxation
- 6:17flowing from the top of your head, down the muscles of your
- 6:22face, into your jaw, and then the even further down into your
- 6:27shoulders, your arms, your chest, deeper into your core.
- 6:35Feel the ripples of that wave going down through your legs,
- 6:40all the way deep down to the tips of your toes.
- 6:48And this wave washes away all tension, all distractions,
- 6:55leaving only a clear open space in your mind.
- 7:03And as you harness that state of resourceful relaxation,
- 7:09amplified, and I wonder if you can imagine yourself standing at
- 7:18the edge of a large yet serene ocean, where the water before
- 7:28you is calm yet powerful. I want you to get a sense that
- 7:38the waves almost have purpose, giving you a feeling of
- 7:50turbulence and movement and yet sometimes shifting to calm.
- 7:57I want you to get a sense that maybe the ocean represents the
- 8:04good and the bad in a part of your life right now.
- 8:11When it feels calm and settled and predictable, you enjoy the
- 8:16ocean. But maybe when it feels
- 8:20turbulent, dangerous, or unpredictable, it can leave you
- 8:27feeling triggered. I want you to imagine a small
- 8:36Pebble being tossed into the water.
- 8:42A slight disturbance, a momentary ripple.
- 8:47But the ocean is vast. The ripple is insignificant.
- 8:56In fact, within seconds it's impossible to see any clues of
- 9:05that Pebble hitting the waves at all.
- 9:14I want you to get a sense that what if your emotional resources
- 9:24were as vast as the ocean? That any attempt to provoke you
- 9:34is nothing more than a tiny Pebble in your vast ocean.
- 9:42It's there, you can acknowledge it, it just doesn't have any
- 9:48impact on you. If your emotional resources was
- 9:54a small pond, the same Pebble would absolutely have an impact,
- 10:02but your emotional resources is a vast ocean.
- 10:10Any attempt to provoke niggle touches the surface, but it does
- 10:19not change the depth of who you are or what you are capable of.
- 10:31I want you to get a sense that people around you may have their
- 10:35own agendas, their own games, their own frustrations and their
- 10:44own fears, but that is theirs to hold.
- 10:51And you recognize from this point onwards, their games don't
- 10:58have to be your games. Their agendas certainly don't
- 11:04need to be yours. I want you to get a sense that
- 11:14sometimes just by being aware, you can diffuse any element of
- 11:22being triggered. You start to evaluate what truly
- 11:30matters, That if something is important, you address it with
- 11:37clarity and purpose. But not everything is.
- 11:43Some things are just noise, just a distraction, just politics.
- 11:51And when that's the case, you remain completely indifferent.
- 12:01The ocean does not change who it is because a purple is thrown
- 12:04into it. Feel that wonderful sense of
- 12:11objectivity. Just by knowing the games and
- 12:16the politics helps you to be immune to any triggers, any
- 12:24attempts of provocation. I want you to create an image in
- 12:33your mind's eye. Will you see yourself stepping
- 12:37into your workplace or the primary means of doing your
- 12:41work? Maybe a Zoom call, but see
- 12:46yourself with a slightly different facial expression and
- 12:51slightly different body language.
- 12:56There is a new sense of calm, confidence and ease.
- 13:03Your presence is calm. It exudes confidence.
- 13:09See yourself deeply engaged in the work that excites you, that
- 13:14fuels you, that drives you forward.
- 13:18See yourself with the facial expressions of passion and
- 13:22dedication. But yet alongside this passion
- 13:29there is a powerful indifference.
- 13:34You are indifferent to distractions, indifferent to
- 13:39unnecessary conflict, indifferent to game playing.
- 13:48I want you to get a sense that this is the perfect balance, the
- 13:55yin and the Yang. The passion keeps your standards
- 14:02high, but the indifference keeps you safe from being provoked.
- 14:10You're just not willing to play that game anymore.
- 14:19I want you to get a sense that if this environment is not right
- 14:23for you, you realise you have so many different options.
- 14:31You are not trapped. You are there because you choose
- 14:35to be there. And if you choose not to be
- 14:39there, then you won't. And that freedom makes you
- 14:46untouchable. Step into that version of you
- 14:51with that passionate indifference as you feel the
- 14:56ease of this truth settling into your mind, into your very core,
- 15:03A powerful, unshakable knowing that guides you forward
- 15:09effortlessly and confidently. In fact, let's go forwards in
- 15:19time to something that's plausible in the future, where
- 15:26you could be interrupted, criticized, given an unwinnable
- 15:31task. But let's experience this with
- 15:38this state of passionate indifference.
- 15:45Perhaps you could imagine Zoom call picture the faces of
- 15:50certain people criticizing your work, your competency, talking
- 15:58over you, interrupting you. But notice your inner dialogue
- 16:05is playful, curious and intrigued, almost like a.
- 16:18The thought is for you to decipher what games are being
- 16:23played without taking the bait, as you consider yourself an
- 16:31intelligent mouse, seeing the cheese on the trap but not
- 16:36willing to take a nibble. You know it's there, You know
- 16:41the game is being played. Why would you voluntarily nibble
- 16:46the cheese when it's set to trigger a trap?
- 16:52So instead you feel this indifference.
- 16:58Allow them to have their traps and have their games.
- 17:02You will choose to be passionate about your work, but indifferent
- 17:08about all the nonsense and noise that goes on alongside it.
- 17:15Feel a sense of composure and calm and see them getting
- 17:20frustrated because you're not playing their game.
- 17:28Maybe they even look confused and that makes you smile.
- 17:34Perhaps just in your own mind, knowing that sometimes just once
- 17:44or twice the trigger doesn't work can sometimes mean the
- 17:51trigger never works again. So if it feels that you've got
- 17:59new resources and strategies to deal with similar things in the
- 18:04future, giving you a sense of distance and composure, a
- 18:10passionate indifference, just let me know by nodding your head
- 18:17and take that resource back with you.
- 18:20And that thinking noise inside your mind that the very thing
- 18:26that would cause you to feel frustrated now causes you to
- 18:30feel curious and intrigued. And because of that, many of
- 18:39these triggers just won't work anymore.
- 18:43Just like a light switch. If someone's cut the cable from
- 18:47behind the switch, someone could desperately try and press the
- 18:52light switch, but the light would never go on.
- 18:56They just wouldn't know that the cable is cut behind it.
- 19:01I want you to feel that you've now rewired your mind.
- 19:07Things that used to trigger you now won't, or perhaps will turn
- 19:14on a different light, A light of intrigue, curiosity, and
- 19:22indifference, when it's useful to keep you calm, composed, and
- 19:31safe. Keep hold of that passion for
- 19:37your work, even if your work ends up being something entirely
- 19:43different. Start to leave that thought and
- 19:50that ocean and feel that you do indeed have an ocean of
- 19:58resources within, and no Pebble can change that.
- 20:06So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 20:12nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 20:15wiggle your toes. Connect fully into the here and
- 20:17now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 20:24Starting to count 123 Waking up 456.
- 20:30More alert 7-8 Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910.
- 20:36Wide awake, Wide awake. Wide awake.
