Transcript
- 0:00What's up, my friend? Welcome to this episode of the Morgan's Market Radio podcast. I'm so glad you tuned in.
- 0:04It's almost the end of the week when I'm recording this Thursday, May 15th, and it's been quite a week and yesterday was quite a big day.
- 0:10And I wanted to share with you lately what I've been thinking a lot about myself personally.
- 0:14And I'm thinking perhaps you can relate to this or at least that's hopefully my intention.
- 0:19And the idea is this is that overthinking could be killing your growth.
- 0:23I want to unpack this theme of something I've been sitting in for a while.
- 0:26And it actually relates to another kind of sitting and that's called sitting on the fence.
- 0:30The real cost of sitting down the fence. What is the impact of that and why do you need to move before you feel ready?
- 0:38So first of all, a shout out of gratitude and thanks the other day I launched or relaunched.
- 0:43I should say what's known as the agent referral accelerator, what that is.
- 0:46It's been on the shelf for about six months and it is a more entry level way to get involved and work with me to help
- 0:52double realtor referrals in 90 days or less without chasing cool calling and all that fun stuff.
- 0:57And it's a program that works and that works really, really well.
- 1:00So for anyone who's listening and you showed up, I want to thank you whether you're an existing member of mine.
- 1:04You've been with me for a while or you're new kind of checking it out.
- 1:08And if you don't know what I'm talking about, you'll have a moment to learn more by the time we get to the end of this podcast.
- 1:13But I just wanted to say that I'm eternally grateful.
- 1:15I'm humbled and I'm inspired because a bunch of my existing members who've been with me three years, four years showed up.
- 1:20And I really, really appreciate that.
- 1:21So if you guys are listening, you know who you are, I'm grateful for that.
- 1:24But here's what's interesting is something kept kept coming up.
- 1:27And it was the recurring theme of this is I've been thinking about doing it.
- 1:32I've been on the fence and there's a number of folks I spoke to who had said that.
- 1:36And I thought that was kind of interesting because I've also been in a place of reluctance, of fence sitting,
- 1:42of looking at and evaluating options and over evaluating analysis paralysis.
- 1:48Can you relate? Maybe being on the fences and just about, you know, one decision.
- 1:53Maybe it's a pattern, a mindset and it shows up everywhere.
- 1:56Maybe being on the fence shows up and waiting to reach out to those agents.
- 2:00You know, you should be waiting to not wait to reach out to, but to reach out to, right?
- 2:04Maybe being on the fence is like, you know, wanting to start a new lead gen strategy.
- 2:08But you're just waiting for the perfect moment or you've got, you know, the perfect setup and the perfect tech,
- 2:13you know, platform and the ideal systems in place and, you know, way more money than you actually need to get started.
- 2:20Waiting for the perfect time to take action.
- 2:22And if that's you, I wanted to share some perspective that's helped me and the people that I coach.
- 2:28And it starts with, I'm going to go back to a book, a couple of books actually that I recommend.
- 2:31One of my favorite writers is Stephen Pressfield.
- 2:35Two books called One of them is The War of Art.
- 2:38Break through the blocks and win your inner creative battles.
- 2:40And the other one is called Do the Work.
- 2:42And In The War of Art, Pressfield introduces this concept of resistance.
- 2:46And a couple of quotes from the book is resistance will tell you anything to keep you from doing your work.
- 2:51Resistance will reason with you like a lawyer or jam a knife in your heart like a thug.
- 2:55Resistance is insidious.
- 2:58Can you feel it? Resistance is the headwinds.
- 3:00Resistance is what we come up against consistently.
- 3:03When we're trying to perhaps step out of our comfort zone, perhaps expand our mindset.
- 3:08Resistance shows up when the work matters most.
- 3:11Resistance shows up when it matters most.
- 3:14That's why you doubt.
- 3:15That's why you hesitate.
- 3:16That's why you think I need more time.
- 3:18And Pressfield says that the only way to beat resistance is to do the work anyway.
- 3:23Do it badly if you have to, but do it.
- 3:26We don't get confidence first.
- 3:28We get it after we take the leap.
- 3:30And in Pressfield's other book that I mentioned, Do the Work, he gets more direct.
- 3:34He says, simply start before you're ready.
- 3:36Don't prepare, begin love that.
- 3:38And that's sometimes I get away from that, but I'm bringing myself back to that more often
- 3:43because there will never be a perfect moment, a perfect time.
- 3:46If you've ever asked your significant other to, to marry you,
- 3:50if you waited for the perfect time, you probably wouldn't be married.
- 3:53And let's talk about another book.
- 3:54We all know which is Atomic Habits James Clear.
- 3:57James gives us another lens on this whole idea of resistance.
- 4:00And that is that motion feels like progress, but motion is an action.
- 4:04Here's an example of some motion I've been hanging out too long.
- 4:06And maybe you have to watching training, watching YouTube videos, listening to podcasts.
- 4:12That's called motion, making the call action, recording the video action,
- 4:17making the connection on social media action brainstorming ideas, whiteboarding,
- 4:22masterminding, motion, scheduling the class action, following through and going to the gym
- 4:29action. If you're prepping endlessly, you're likely avoiding.
- 4:34Another favorite of mine is Mel Robbins.
- 4:35She has something called the five second rule.
- 4:37If you don't act within five seconds of having an instinct, your brain will kill it.
- 4:41Your brain wants to protect you from discomfort, even if it's the exact discomfort
- 4:44that leads to growth.
- 4:46Don't wait for the fear to disappear, move with it.
- 4:49That is how we get into forward progress, momentum.
- 4:53You know, the old saying I love is that a rocking chair is in motion,
- 4:57but it doesn't move forward, right?
- 5:00It just rocks back and forth.
- 5:01So are you in motion or are you in action?
- 5:04And there's a cost to being in motion and not in action.
- 5:07There's a cost to not breaking through the resistance.
- 5:10Let's, let's be honest, the longer you wait, the heavier it gets.
- 5:14Delay creates doubt, doubt kills momentum and momentum.
- 5:18That's everything in business in decision is an energy leak mentally,
- 5:22emotionally, spiritually, it wears you down without you even realizing it.
- 5:27So back to press field for a moment.
- 5:28What he says is do the work not next week, not when it's perfect today.
- 5:33You don't need certainty.
- 5:34You need a decision.
- 5:35The people who succeed in life, who succeed in this industry,
- 5:39mortgage and real estate, they don't wait to feel ready.
- 5:42They make a move, right?
- 5:44It's kind of like that was that, you know, the trapeze artists, when they're,
- 5:48you have to let go of one ring to be able to grab onto another.
- 5:51You have to trust, right?
- 5:52And there's going to be that gap that moment when you make that decision,
- 5:55kind of like on that, the trapeze artists, when they're letting go of one ring,
- 5:58and there's that moment of free fall where they're in between different rings, right?
- 6:03Or rungs, whatever.
- 6:04And they're waiting for their hand to grasp that next ring or rung that's coming to them.
- 6:09And there's that moment of uncertainty and fear and doubt.
- 6:12But you have to understand that that's coming and that's part of it.
- 6:15And because you make that move because you're willing to step out in faith and just do the work,
- 6:22not when it's perfect results follow.
- 6:25So this is a lot of time I've been thinking about lately with me and quite frankly,
- 6:28the context of me evaluating where I want to level up my time and my content strategy.
- 6:33And I've been thinking air quotes thinking, right?
- 6:36Not in action, but in motion, thinking, watching videos and taking different courses,
- 6:41following other people, you know, consuming, consuming, consuming, but not actually taking action
- 6:46and moving forward with a content strategy that's been circling in my brain for far too long.
- 6:50And it's been draining 100%.
- 6:53And so I'm at this place coming you today, kind of like a confession of, I've been there.
- 6:57I know what it feels like.
- 6:59And every time I've granted you have to go through your process, let's evaluate.
- 7:02Yes, let's let's analyze.
- 7:04All right, let's look at and this thing helps solve my problem.
- 7:06Let's get clear on that.
- 7:08Let's not be careless with how we invest our time and resources.
- 7:11But I think when you know, you know, and then you just get stuck on the fence because of fear,
- 7:17because of uncertainty and that's called resistance.
- 7:20And that's what we need to do is breakthrough, move forward, trust.
- 7:24Let go of one rung and swing on to the other.
- 7:27Make the leap.
- 7:28And so if this hits home for you at all, if you've been stuck, maybe in thinking mode,
- 7:32this is your moment to choose action over motion.
- 7:34I don't know where you are in your business right now.
- 7:36I know that a lot of people I engage with around the country are in a situation where there's this transaction recession
- 7:41that the overall business volume might be down.
- 7:44And maybe that's not you, by the way, congratulations to you.
- 7:47You've been clearly taking action in the right, right direction.
- 7:49But if you're in a situation where you want to take action,
- 7:52maybe you've been like the folks who showed up on my launch for the agent referral accelerator.
- 7:56And you've been hearing me talk about these agent classes for a while.
- 8:00And what we do and how we helped Tiffany so far have her best year ever,
- 8:04or how we help Brian at 15 million in production to his business,
- 8:07or we help Kevin get a $700,000 loan on that very first class that he taught.
- 8:11I mean, what we're talking about here is you taking action.
- 8:15If this sounds like it's potentially something for you, there's a link in the show notes.
- 8:18I put a recap, a really quick kind of review in summary of the launch I did the other day,
- 8:23my 60th birthday launch.
- 8:25We're doing a special offer. It's not going to be available forever.
- 8:27Expires very, very soon, depending on when you're listening to this.
- 8:30So check the link in the show notes.
- 8:32It's go agent rx.com.
- 8:34And maybe this is your call to move with it to step forward.
- 8:38And if what I've said to you here in the last few minutes you've been listening,
- 8:42your brain is telling you your emotions are drawing you closer to learn more.
- 8:47Well, just go ahead, check it out.
- 8:50The only cost to it is about 10 minutes of your time to grab the link of the show notes.
- 8:54And see if what we're doing in the agent referral accelerator is right for you.
- 8:58And if you want to learn more or you have something, some questions, whatever you want to talk,
- 9:01you can obviously always DM me on Instagram or LinkedIn or wherever is that you want to go.
- 9:05Look, and here's what I know is that part of being fearful and taking action is you don't want to look dumb.
- 9:11If you don't have all the information or you're unsure or you don't feel like, you know, oh my gosh,
- 9:14well, I'm not an expert or I've never done this before or what if I look stupid?
- 9:19And that's all real, but close out by saying this, action isn't always pretty.
- 9:24And that's okay.
- 9:25Billing a business can be ugly, but guess what?
- 9:27What's going to get you through that is consistently taking action.
- 9:30It's the only thing that gets results.
- 9:31So if what I shared with you today is inspiring, hey, let me know.
- 9:35Leave me a comment.
