- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it is Adam here, and you're about to listen to a weight loss
- 0:43hypnosis session with a difference.
- 0:45And that's because this particular hypnosis session
- 0:49takes a principle from Japanese culture to help lose weight.
- 0:55And I was working with a client that was slightly older, in
- 1:01great shape for their age, looked much, much younger, but
- 1:05they felt that they had put on about a stone.
- 1:08And that's an English terminology that means about 6
- 1:12or 7 kilos or around about 15 lbs.
- 1:15And she wanted to lose that. But when she had successfully
- 1:19lost weight in the past, it wasn't through dieting and it
- 1:23wasn't by calorie counting and thinking about food.
- 1:26It was feeling comfortable leaving food on their plate and
- 1:30not really wanting to eat too much.
- 1:33And there is a Japanese concept called harahashibu, or sometimes
- 1:39it's pronounced harahashi bunmi. What it really means is.
- 1:45To. Not continue eating while you're
- 1:49full. So it has this idea that you
- 1:52finish when you're 80% full, so that that lag time of eating for
- 1:58your brain to recognize that you've had enough can catch up.
- 2:02And you can translate that into a hypnotic suggestion of eat,
- 2:06finish eating while you're still hungry, and to take pride in
- 2:09leaving food on your. Plate, so that's.
- 2:12One Japanese concept, basically, don't eat more than you need to.
- 2:17It's really the the concept. It's very powerful concept.
- 2:20So the hypnosis session takes this idea of Japanese culture
- 2:26and seeing the slim physicality of the people of Japan by
- 2:31following this concept. But the Japanese also have
- 2:35another concept. I can't remember the actual
- 2:37Japanese term, but I think it's actually in the hypnosis
- 2:39session. But it's loosely translated as
- 2:43lonely mouth. And in the West we would call
- 2:46that emotional eating. We would call that eating from
- 2:48Borden, eating from gratification eating because you
- 2:53just feel like you're eating for gratification.
- 2:56So it has that concept in there as well.
- 2:59So if you've struggled following diets and if you've done
- 3:03ridiculous things to try and lose weight and you gain it
- 3:05again, I think you might get some value from this particular
- 3:08session. Because at its core, it is a
- 3:10very simple philosophy that takes this idea of eating only
- 3:16what your body needs and to actually take pride in feeling
- 3:21actual hunger. Not mouth hunger, but this
- 3:24element of actual hunger that your body really needs nutrition
- 3:28and energy. And then stopping eating while
- 3:32you're still feeling hungry. And if you can cultivate that
- 3:35habit, you're never going to gain weight and you're going to
- 3:38lose weight to the required level for you and be able to
- 3:42maintain that. Now, this session was created
- 3:45for an individual. Some of the suggestions are
- 3:47very, very tailored to the client that I was working with,
- 3:50based on their past and times that they successfully made
- 3:55great choices and certain things that resonated with them.
- 4:01That might not be your situation, but at its core, it's
- 4:03about losing weight through really sensible choices.
- 4:07So if you do like the idea of a bespoke session created and
- 4:11cultivated exactly for you, there will be a link in the
- 4:14description where you can schedule a completely free
- 4:17consultation call. We'll have a chat over Zoom, and
- 4:19who knows, we might end up working together directly.
- 4:22For now, though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you're
- 4:25not going to be distracted or disturbed.
- 4:28Relax. And enjoy the session.
- 4:48Take a deep breath in and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 4:58resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 5:02And as you exhale, just allow your eyelids to completely relax
- 5:09and with your eyes closed, you start to become aware even more
- 5:16so, of the sound of my voice breathing in relaxation and
- 5:28exhaling tension. Each breath allows you to drift
- 5:40even deeper. Relax.
- 5:41Now that's in. Scan your body for any clues of
- 5:51worry, stress or tension, but mainly any pressure.
- 6:00Pressure of what you should be doing, what you should look
- 6:04like. And every time from this point
- 6:09forward you hear the word should, your brain will
- 6:16naturally evolve it to the word could.
- 6:25What could you look like? What could you eat?
- 6:32Notice how should. It's connected to feelings of
- 6:36judgement, coercion, and shame, and could is linked to feelings
- 6:44of possibility, empowerment, and choice.
- 6:56I want you to imagine breathing in the essence of possibility,
- 7:02and as you exhale, release all of those echoes of judgement.
- 7:12Quite often, they're just other people's rules that come from
- 7:18their own insecurities. As you release those shoulds and
- 7:25breathe in those coulds, allow your body to drift deeper and
- 7:33deeper. Relaxed breathing and
- 7:39relaxation. Exhaling tension and I want you
- 7:43to imagine a bookshelf, and on that bookshelf is a book of
- 7:52ancient Egypt. I want you to imagine finding a
- 7:59comfy chair and looking through pictures of the ancient
- 8:06pyramids. Hieroglyphics, tombs deep inside
- 8:16a pyramid. And as you read those pages and
- 8:22look at those images, I want you to do what naturally happens
- 8:27when you're lost in thought with a good book.
- 8:33Isn't it true that your mind goes on a wonderful adventure,
- 8:40and as you imagine the pages turning without you realizing, I
- 8:46wonder if you could imagine drifting all the way back to
- 8:51ancient Egypt. Imagine yourself in an ancient
- 8:57temple, staring at a wall of hieroglyphics.
- 9:06I want you to get a sense of the hieroglyphics represent wisdom,
- 9:13just as your past contains wisdom and the world contains
- 9:22wisdom. As you stare into the
- 9:26hieroglyphics, I want you to imagine drifting off to a dream
- 9:32within a dream. Imagine drifting off to ancient
- 9:39Japan. I want you to see villages,
- 9:44temples, the traditional robes and dress wear perhaps of
- 9:54ordinary people, perhaps from hundreds of years ago there in
- 10:01Japan. And I want you to notice just
- 10:07how slim, toned and healthy everyone looks.
- 10:15Always like you're stepping back in time.
- 10:18And I want you to recall that at this point in history, there was
- 10:27no supermarket with processed foods.
- 10:32Back then, it was natural to have two or three meals a day
- 10:39full of nutrients. I don't want you to get a sense
- 10:44that the Japanese would have cultural beliefs and rules that
- 10:55subtly shifted them to feel that it was effortless to make good
- 11:05choices with what to eat, when to eat, and how much to eat.
- 11:16And I want you to imagine there in Japan, finding a temple.
- 11:24And I want you to imagine what it would be like to hold a yoga
- 11:29pose, the kind of yoga pose that is not strenuous, kind of pose
- 11:36that you could stay in for a while in deep, deep relaxation.
- 11:43And when you could imagine being in that temple, holding that
- 11:52posture, drifting deep within your imagination, just let me
- 12:00know by nodding your head. That's it.
- 12:09And I want you to notice how you're breathing in and
- 12:13breathing out, your body settling, feeling that rhythm,
- 12:21that pace with each outward breath.
- 12:26You can let go of any unnecessary effort, believing
- 12:31that the body already knows how to regulate itself, allowing it
- 12:39to return to what is natural. And as you continue to breathe
- 12:45comfortably, I'd like you to imagine your mind becoming
- 12:50curious. Curious in that gentle,
- 12:55observational way. Because somewhere in your past
- 13:02there was a time when eating felt simple, effortless.
- 13:12A time when your body naturally found its slim, healthy rhythm.
- 13:23And you don't need to try to remember it.
- 13:28Just allow your unconscious mind to guide you back to that
- 13:35version of you. And when you drift back to that
- 13:41moment, whether it's observing yourself like you're someone
- 13:46else or back in that version of you that time, let me know by
- 13:55nodding your head. Perhaps you notice where you
- 14:00were, what your body felt like, how hunger and fullness were
- 14:06easy signals rather than problems to solve.
- 14:15So really connect into that memory now and you may begin to
- 14:20notice something that your body preferred less.
- 14:29Not through force, rules or coercion, it just preferred it
- 14:36that way. And maybe you can remember how
- 14:40small abortions felt more satisfying, how food was enjoyed
- 14:48more when it was eaten slowly, how the flavors, the sensation,
- 14:57the taste increased rather than decreased.
- 15:06And maybe there's truth there that the smaller the portion,
- 15:12the more present you were. That when there was less, the
- 15:21more aware you became, the more pleasure you extracted from each
- 15:31bite, every time you chewed. Because the pleasure for food is
- 15:39not in your stomach or your belly, it's on your taste buds.
- 15:48I want you to come to a conclusion.
- 15:53But if you eat half as much, but allow it to spend twice the time
- 15:59in your mouth before you swallow, it means you get twice
- 16:06the pleasure for half the amount.
- 16:10Which means you can lose weight and enjoy the experience even
- 16:16more. And your nervous system
- 16:21remembers this, how each bite was chosen, each mouthful was
- 16:29appreciated, and satisfaction arrived before discomfort ever
- 16:37could. Your body learned that less is
- 16:43more, and that knowledge, that wisdom, that insight is still
- 16:51soared, stored safely within you, and now allow a new
- 17:03understanding to settle, to take root.
- 17:08How? Your stomach does not need to be
- 17:10stretched to feel satisfied. It simply needs time.
- 17:21The ancient Japanese knew that it takes about 20 minutes for
- 17:29signals to rise naturally from body to brain, calmly, clearly.
- 17:38And I want you to imagine what it would feel like that you
- 17:43naturally begin to stop eating. Not when you're full, but when
- 17:50you're 80% full, when it's still comfortable, light, when you're
- 17:58still energized, maybe even still feeling a little hungry.
- 18:06Not staff, not heavy, just complete.
- 18:12And what if there's a quiet pride that comes with this?
- 18:16A sense of intelligence, an act of self love, of self respect.
- 18:23And I want you to imagine eating that way and notice how good it
- 18:32feels to leave food on your plate.
- 18:38Not as deprivation and not as waste, but as proof that you
- 18:46listened. And those ancient Japanese
- 18:56beyond the walls of the temple would call that Hara Hashibu.
- 19:07And you don't need to remember the words to remember the
- 19:09concept, to finish while still feeling hungry, to imagine your
- 19:18stomach 80% full before stopping.
- 19:26And if that was their intention, they were vigilant against the
- 19:32opposite. The Japanese knew of something
- 19:43that they called Kuchi Sabishi. In English.
- 19:53We would know it as lonely mouth eating, and I want you to get a
- 20:01sense of what that could mean. I want you to recall times that
- 20:07you were snacking when you weren't hungry and maybe you
- 20:12were bored. Maybe it was just out of habit,
- 20:17but there was no actual need to eat in that moment.
- 20:24So now allow your mind to become aware of the difference between
- 20:30true hunger that comes from the body and that fake hunger that
- 20:38comes from the mouth. Sometimes they're hidden like
- 20:44Trojan horses, in habits that once masqueraded as hunger,
- 20:51boredom, and routine. But once you start thinking of
- 20:56it as lonely mouth eating, you begin to feel strangely immune.
- 21:08Because when your body isn't hungry, food simply doesn't call
- 21:13to you in the same way. Instead, you notice choice
- 21:20returning. Because if your mouth wants
- 21:25stimulation, you might stretch, move, breathe, step outside, or
- 21:33redirect that energy into something purposeful.
- 21:40And I don't know if this has already happened, happening, or
- 21:44about to happen, but before you know it, you may discover that
- 21:52eating only happens when hunger is real, and when it does, it is
- 21:59clean, nourishing and satisfying.
- 22:05Feel that you are activating a natural attraction to high
- 22:11nutrition foods. The ancient Egyptians didn't
- 22:19have supermarkets and processed food, and neither did the
- 22:24ancient Japanese. They had real food made from
- 22:31real ingredients. And what if your body is
- 22:35starting to ask for foods like that?
- 22:40Fresh vegetables, fruits, salads, clean, vibrant
- 22:48nutrition. And not because you should, but
- 22:54more because they feel good while you're eating them and
- 22:59more importantly, after you eat them.
- 23:05Because you know, there's some foods that can feel good when
- 23:08you eat them, but they make you feel regret, shame or guilt
- 23:14after. But can you recall one time when
- 23:19you had a salad and you regretted it after?
- 23:26I want you to get a sense that real nutrition rewards you twice
- 23:31while you're eating, and then the feeling of feeling good
- 23:36after that time when your energy improves, your digestion feels
- 23:43calm, like your body is rewarding you immediately.
- 23:52The body is an artist of adaptation and the more of these
- 23:59high nutrition foods you eat, the more your taste adapts,
- 24:05finding pleasure in freshness, in colour, in vitality.
- 24:16Before we leave this temple in your imagination, I'd like you
- 24:21to imagine a moment in the near future.
- 24:27A time when, whether it's in a shop window or a full length
- 24:33mirror, you just catch your reflection and something
- 24:38registers instantly. You look slimmer, lighter.
- 24:45You're smiling, more aligned. Or maybe you're hearing
- 24:51compliments, perhaps from people you know, perhaps from
- 24:56strangers. And this time, rather than your
- 25:01instant reaction to reject them, you believe them.
- 25:06You accept them not with surprise, but with recognition,
- 25:14almost like the outside world is matching how you feel inside.
- 25:24What if movement feels energizing now?
- 25:29Yoga, walking, gentle activity that feels good rather than
- 25:35forced. You want to do this.
- 25:39You don't have to do this because your body wants to move,
- 25:43because it enjoys itself again. And I want you to get a feeling
- 25:52that structure doesn't confine you, it supports you, That lists
- 25:59feel satisfying, planning feels grounding, and ticking things
- 26:07off releases a sense of completion.
- 26:12You get your dopamine from doing things that improve your life
- 26:19rather than things that just give you temporary
- 26:22gratification. And each small action reinforces
- 26:27momentum, each completed task build self trust, and more and
- 26:34more you're feeling that you are someone who follows through
- 26:39calmly, consistently. I want you to imagine yourself
- 26:48even further in the future, maybe months, maybe a year from
- 26:54now. Observe yourself slim, healthy
- 26:58and confident. And notice the way you walk.
- 27:04Notice how there's a spring in your step, a lightness that
- 27:08wasn't there before, where life feels more open, more playful,
- 27:15more alive. And this isn't through effort,
- 27:20this is through alignment. That your body remembers how to
- 27:26be slim and your mind remembers how to eat naturally.
- 27:33And from this point forward, it's that memory that will guide
- 27:38you automatically. And as you continue your day,
- 27:45these changes integrate quietly, effortlessly.
- 27:50They're in the background because this is not something
- 27:55you are doing. This is something you are
- 28:00returning to. I want you to imagine as you
- 28:06leave that Japanese temple, seeing someone your age, slim,
- 28:16vibrant, healthy, knowing, knowing that they eat up to that
- 28:2480%, feeling fallen. Stop while they're still hungry.
- 28:31Imagine floating back back to ancient Eve Egypt and and
- 28:36looking into those hieroglyphics and seeing an image there in the
- 28:44hieroglyphics. A confident, elegant woman.
- 28:53See yourself in the hieroglyphics and know there is
- 28:56ancient wisdom within you and then float back, almost like
- 29:02through the pages of a book and imagine seeing the same
- 29:07hieroglyphics there on a page of a history book. close the book,
- 29:12return it to the shelf, and allow yourself to float back to
- 29:17the here and the now. Very soon I will count from 1:00
- 29:22to 10:00 to awaken you. And you will awaken feeling
- 29:26resourceful, vibrant with a new lease of life.
- 29:31So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 29:36nose. Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your
- 29:40toes, connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now
- 29:46count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 29:50Starting to count 123 Waking up 456.
