- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:47Hi, it's Adam here. And in this episode of The
- 0:51Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a hypnosis session
- 0:55created for a client that was really committed to giving up
- 0:59smoking and vaping, but really wanted to align that with not
- 1:07really an identity of just trying, but fully committing to
- 1:12that identity of not someone attempting to quit and
- 1:17occasionally quitting, but someone that.
- 1:19Simply has. Done that and a lot of people
- 1:23make a change in their life and when they make that change, they
- 1:27become and. Evolved slightly different.
- 1:29Version of themself and you can think of things in your life
- 1:33that. You used to do a lot.
- 1:36And now you don't do anymore. There were certain things you
- 1:38used to do as a child, and you don't do those things.
- 1:41And there's certain things you used to do as a teenager, and
- 1:43you don't do those things. And there's certain things you
- 1:45used to do as a teenager, and you don't do those things.
- 1:47And there's certain things used to do in your early adulthood,
- 1:49and you don't do those things now.
- 1:51And it doesn't take a lot of willpower to not do those
- 1:54things. You just simply don't want to do
- 1:56those things anymore because. You've slightly changed as a.
- 2:00Person and these changes can be subtle and over time they just
- 2:05become a slightly new version of you.
- 2:09So this was a key element. That I wanted to work with this
- 2:13client, that the pride that they got wasn't in that they'd quit
- 2:17for so long. It's that they were a person
- 2:20that was never going to go back to who they were before because
- 2:22they're different now. And that's a much more powerful
- 2:26and long term identity shift if you are struggling with quitting
- 2:31smoking or vaping. Or weed or.
- 2:34Something like that that feels like it's got a bit of a hold on
- 2:37you. A lot of these things are linked
- 2:40to a certain identity and if you think of the the word smoker, a
- 2:45lot of people will link that to their identity.
- 2:47It's kind of who they think they are rather than someone who
- 2:51looks at it at a behavioral level and they say I smoked and
- 2:56and that's why making a shift at the identity level rather than a
- 3:00behavioral level is so important, the identity.
- 3:04To get to. Is someone that used to smoke,
- 3:07was a smoker but isn't a smoker anymore?
- 3:10And if you feel like I might be the right person to help you get
- 3:13to that new identity, there will be a link in the show notes
- 3:16where you can schedule that complete free consultation call.
- 3:20For now, though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 3:23won't be. Disturbed, relax and.
- 3:25Enjoy the session. Take a deep.
- 4:06Breath. In and as you breathe in,
- 4:13breathe in that resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 4:18And as you exhale, feel a wonderful sense of release.
- 4:26Any feelings of stress or tension, just imagine that
- 4:30leaving your body in your outward breath.
- 4:33And when you breathe in, breathe in longer and deeper than you
- 4:40normally would and slow down that exhale, really feeling that
- 4:48you're emptying your lungs and activating your diaphragm.
- 4:55And use the power of your imagination to imagine a
- 5:03cocktail of colours, each colour representing a different
- 5:08resource. And imagine breathing in strange
- 5:15combination of colours. And those colours could be
- 5:21relaxation, a feeling of resolve, of mental fortitude,
- 5:32decisiveness, optimism. Just imagine whatever colours
- 5:41you're breathing in represent exactly the resources most
- 5:46useful for this moment in time. And as you exhale, just imagine
- 5:58dark shadows and greys leaving your body and allow that to be
- 6:07anything unresourceful. Maybe stress, frustration,
- 6:13shame, or guilt. Anything that feels like it's
- 6:17holding you back in some way. Just allow it to leave your
- 6:25body. And sometimes the ultimate thing
- 6:31to let go of is a feeling of scarcity or unworthiness.
- 6:43Sometimes people feel that it's totally fine to do something
- 6:50destructive because the value isn't there anyway.
- 6:57So if you feel any echoes of unworthiness, anything that
- 7:06represents harsh or unfair assessments of yourself, just
- 7:11feel that it's time to let go of them.
- 7:18Breathing in everything your body needs and exhaling anything
- 7:25it doesn't. And as you breathe in and
- 7:30breathe out, allow your mind to take you to a place.
- 7:35A place where it feels that you can be aligned with the person
- 7:46you truly want to be. So take an even deeper, soothing
- 7:54breath and let it fill you with a sense of calm and quiet,
- 8:00continuing to release any tension with each exhale as you
- 8:07start to assess the weight of arms and legs, the rhythm of
- 8:12your breathing, and just feel a looseness, a relaxation.
- 8:21Every breath is gently guiding you into that deeper state of
- 8:27peace and relaxation. With each breath, you feel more
- 8:36settled, more comfortable, as if every part of you is beginning
- 8:44to rest, inviting a gentle calmness that flows from the top
- 8:51of your head down through your neck, your shoulders, your
- 8:59chest. But pay close attention to your
- 9:05lungs. As you breathe in those bright
- 9:10vibrant colours, start to feel that your lungs are resonating
- 9:19at a particular frequency that you can call health or vitality.
- 9:26Continue to breathe in and breathe out and feel yourself
- 9:29drifting down deeper down into a place of inner stillness, a
- 9:36place where your mind and body work in harmony.
- 9:41A place where change feels completely natural and
- 9:45effortless. Each breath takes you even
- 9:52deeper into this peaceful awareness where the subconscious
- 9:57mind is ready to release, ready to grow, and ready to evolve.
- 10:10Imagine yourself standing at the edge of a path, and maybe this
- 10:15path represents your journey forward.
- 10:22And maybe one of these paths is an identity that represents 1
- 10:35positive step forward. An identity away from smoking,
- 10:41away from the old habits, perhaps into a slightly subtly
- 10:48different version of you living a life of health and strength
- 10:56and just that inner knowledge that you wanted to make a change
- 11:02and you made that change. A version of you that doesn't
- 11:06look back. And as you stand there on the
- 11:11edge of that path, feel the weight of the past begin to
- 11:18dissolve, like a shadow fading into the light of a bright,
- 11:25clear day. And as you step onto this path,
- 11:36maybe as you look backwards on the path, you can see that
- 11:39smoking was once a part of your life.
- 11:44Maybe you can recall early memories of it just being how
- 11:49things were. That was then and this is now.
- 11:57You can choose to go backwards, or you can choose to go
- 12:01forwards, and forwards is where you are free of it.
- 12:10That path is where you've left that old life behind, just like
- 12:17an old chapter of a book, and feel the person you are today is
- 12:24no longer a smoker. You know that you were, but
- 12:30you're not anymore. That you've evolved into someone
- 12:36that could find excuses, could find justifications, and yet
- 12:46still does not choose to go backwards, feel like you're
- 12:55connecting with that future version of you, where in this
- 13:00moment you know deeply with every part of your being.
- 13:05You're a non-smoker and you don't need validation or
- 13:11recognition badges or milestones.
- 13:19You don't need to avoid emotional triggers.
- 13:24You just don't want to smoke anymore.
- 13:31You are someone who values your health, the freedom of knowing
- 13:38you're on a path you want to be on, Someone who is proud to have
- 13:43left that version of you behind. It was part of you and isn't
- 13:50anymore to step into a life that feels like it's aligned with the
- 13:57version of you you want to be. As you think back on that
- 14:07version of you that used to smoke, maybe like a good twist
- 14:12in a movie, you begin to see it in a new light.
- 14:19What if, from this new perspective, looking backwards,
- 14:24what once might have seemed like a reward you now recognise as
- 14:29something else entirely. You start to think of those real
- 14:38moments of perhaps bleeding guns or clues of physical damage on
- 14:45your body. What if you start to see that
- 14:50those moments of smoking were never a reward, but a
- 14:54punishment, A cellular punishment that harms your body,
- 15:02your mind, your well-being? It's not a surprise that quite
- 15:11often people indulge in self-destructive behaviour when
- 15:15they feel at their lowest, when they feel unworthy, unloved,
- 15:24undesirable. What if they're matching their
- 15:30inner reality by creating an external reality in the same way
- 15:36that a teenager might self harm by cutting or scratching, What
- 15:44if this smoking habit was always a punishment, something that
- 15:52brought harm, a cellular punishment that drained your
- 15:57health, your energy, your strength?
- 16:07And maybe you realise now that a reward should uplift you.
- 16:14A reward should enhance your life.
- 16:20What if smoking gave the illusion of that but never truly
- 16:25did it? What if it was never a true
- 16:29reward, just just that feeling of it, feeling good in
- 16:38comparison to something else? Smoking has been described as
- 16:48wearing tight, uncomfortable shoes just to feel the temporary
- 16:53pleasure of taking them off. And what if now, in this future,
- 17:02you're free from that burden, Free to live a life that truly
- 17:07values and honours your health? I want you to imagine you've
- 17:15been on this pathway for several weeks and maybe maybe certain
- 17:26things helped. Seeing progress, milestones of
- 17:30days or weeks, knowing the positive health benefits.
- 17:34It's having you to get a sense that the real source of pride is
- 17:46encountering those same justifications, excuses, those
- 17:53same rationales, and connecting with the idea that that isn't
- 18:00you anymore, that you are a non-smoker and you have chosen a
- 18:08life of freedom. No need to mooch.
- 18:14No need to sneak. Why go backwards if you can go
- 18:23forwards? And what if the biggest pay off
- 18:28has nothing to do with physical damage on your body?
- 18:33What if the real pay off is simply the consequence of
- 18:41evolving your identity? Evolving it in such a way that
- 18:49even when things are stressful, even when things feel difficult
- 18:55or challenging, even then you still don't want it.
- 19:04Feel this deep, unwavering resolve.
- 19:08Felt it before, activated again. Now it's part of you now, an
- 19:14unshakeable part of who you are. No matter what life brings, no
- 19:22matter how stressful a situation may be or how challenging a
- 19:27moment may feel, you know that smoking or vaping is not and
- 19:34will never be the answer. You have evolved beyond it.
- 19:41Scan your body for where you have that feeling of resolve,
- 19:46maybe your head, your chest, the solar plexus.
- 19:51Locate that feeling of resolve and expand it as you say to
- 19:58yourself with deep conviction. I don't want it, I don't need
- 20:05it. And feel the resolve getting
- 20:09stronger. Feel that your resolve is
- 20:14stronger now than ever before. But the true way of testing your
- 20:20resolve is not when things are easy, it's when things are
- 20:24difficult. When you could just take a walk
- 20:31to a nearby petrol station and yet don't.
- 20:37Someone's annoyed you, rejected you.
- 20:42You could use it as justification, a tit for tat,
- 20:48but you don't. That is how strong your resolve
- 20:52is and will activate even more whenever you reach these
- 20:57crossroad moments because your key sense of pride comes from
- 21:02levelling up and you are someone that has no desire to go
- 21:09backwards. I want you to imagine yourself
- 21:16three months from now living day-to-day as a non-smoker.
- 21:26I don't want you to see yourself when it's easy.
- 21:30See yourself handling challenges, stressful
- 21:35situations, nightmares, problems that come in three all at the
- 21:41same time. And see that version of you,
- 21:45that levelled up evolved version of you dealing with those
- 21:49moments, stressful moments, challenging moments with calm
- 21:54and confidence. You are resilient, you are
- 21:58adaptable, you are strong, and every time you move through
- 22:03these moments without even a thought of smoking, you feel
- 22:10even prouder and even stronger. And if you do think of smoking,
- 22:15consider these battles. And each battle you win
- 22:21strengthens your resolve for the next battle until you win the
- 22:28war. Winning the war means no matter
- 22:34what happens, you'll never go back.
- 22:39Imagine how good it feels to wake up each day knowing you've
- 22:48left that old habit behind. And maybe there's clues.
- 22:53Maybe you'll be brushing your teeth four years from now and
- 23:01you get a glimpse of a thorn, of what your teeth could look like
- 23:07if you did continue as a smoker. And yet you're not.
- 23:13You feel grateful for the version of you that you are,
- 23:17that version of you that made a choice to follow the path
- 23:22forward, not backwards. Let's say in the future there is
- 23:30a moment, a moment of crisis might be a time when you feel
- 23:39you deserve a reward, where you feel inclined to punish yourself
- 23:45because if nobody else cares, why should you?
- 23:53But I want you to imagine in advance you're doing something
- 23:58with purpose, choosing something that builds you up rather than
- 24:04knocks you down. In this game of snakes and
- 24:08ladders. Just imagine that in these
- 24:10moments you choose to climb a ladder rather than slide down a
- 24:16snake. And I wonder what these ladders
- 24:22could be. Because if in these moments of
- 24:27intensity you choose to move forwards rather than backwards,
- 24:35over time these compounds taking your future life on a different
- 24:42trajectory. A.
- 24:44Positive, empowering, wonderful trajectory that you will never
- 24:48know if you make the choice to slide down that snake.
- 25:00You choose to act with compassion and kindness for
- 25:03yourself. You deserve to move forwards,
- 25:09not backwards. Feel that you are becoming
- 25:13someone who lives even more intentionally.
- 25:18Someone that rewards. Himself with purpose treats
- 25:23themselves with respect. And what if small rewards?
- 25:29You decide that after a year or even six months of aligning with
- 25:37this non-smoker identity, you'll give yourself an intentional
- 25:43reward that is a once in a lifetime experience, giving you
- 25:50the ability to reward yourself intentionally and powerfully,
- 25:58giving you a life that is better as a direct result of this new
- 26:05identity. And feel this identity now, this
- 26:10powerful, strong, evolved identity settling deep within
- 26:16you, becoming part of just who you are.
- 26:21Every cell, every breath. You are a non-smoker.
- 26:27This is who you are. A source of deep conviction, a
- 26:35demonstration of you moving forward, a source of freedom.
- 26:41You are a non-smoker. You are proud of your strength
- 26:47and resolve, especially in the moments that require it.
- 26:56You choose freedom, you choose health, and you choose a path of
- 27:06growth and progress. You are in control and you are
- 27:12stronger than any temporary urge.
- 27:21Any thoughts of fleeting you will just wait them out until
- 27:27any thoughts or feelings subside.
- 27:32You will win every battle, and in doing so, you win the war.
- 27:42And now with this powerful sense of clarity, deep resolve, and
- 27:49aligned with this evolved version of you, take a deep
- 27:55Browning breath. Breathe in through your nose,
- 28:00and as you exhale, exhale through the nose.
- 28:04Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 28:06Connect fully into the here and now as I now count from 1:00 to
- 28:1110:00 to awaken you. You will awaken connected,
- 28:16connected with the future version of you, aligned with
- 28:22that version of you. Connected, starting to count to
- 28:27awaken you. 123 waking up. 456 more alert. 7-8 open your eyes.
- 28:36Open your eyes. 910 Wide awake Wide awake, Wide awake.
