Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to Saint Luke At that
• 0:06
time, Jesus spoke this parable to some who trusted in
• 0:10
themselves as just and despised others.
• 0:14
Two men went up into the temple to pray.
• 0:18
The one was a Pharisee and the other a publican.
• 0:22
The Pharisee standing prayed thus to himself, O God, I give
• 0:28
thee thanks, that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners,
• 0:33
unjust adulterers, as also as this publican.
• 0:38
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
• 0:44
And the publican standing afar off, would not so much as lift
• 0:48
up his eyes towards heaven, but struck his breast, saying, O
• 0:53
God, be merciful to me, a Sinner.
• 0:58
I say to you, This man went down to his house justified rather
• 1:02
than the other. Because everyone that exalteth
• 1:05
himself shall be humbled, and he that humbleth himself shall be
• 1:11
  exalted.
