- 0:31insert theme song here this is the daily star cast i give you the news and maybe
- 0:35a laugh i'm lindsey vernick and today is let me check,
- 0:40august 31st 2026 holy shit is it seriously the last day of august well if you
- 0:46can't tell i am literally losing my mind,
- 0:50but i haven't lost it quite just enough yet where i was able to actually get some sleep last night.
- 0:55So I figured, let me check in
- 0:57with the Daily Starcasters because you guys need to know what's going on.
- 1:02But also, as my dad says, we don't need to know everything.
- 1:07Every day on this show is just a big freaking day. It's so long and so many things happen.
- 1:14I'm going to take you through just another day that was the craziest freaking
- 1:18day that happened on some day last week. I could not tell you the day of the week that it was.
- 1:25So I wake up at like 8 a.m.
- 1:28And also, mind you, I went to bed probably around like 1 or 2 because I wasn't
- 1:32sure if I was going to get on a flight that morning or in the afternoon because
- 1:35the flights kept getting switched around it was this whole thing but I chose
- 1:39to go to bed early and by early I mean like,
- 1:42at midnight instead so I wake up.
- 1:45I get in the uber with this guy that the other producer who I'm working with,
- 1:50and we go to the airport we don't have that much time,
- 1:53and it's just one of those things where it's just like everything that can go
- 1:56wrong does go wrong and we're driving and also mind you the night before We
- 2:01were walking around and just like in the middle of Chicago, couldn't find food
- 2:04anywhere, end up eating Shake Shack,
- 2:07because obviously when you're in Chicago for one night, you have to get Shake
- 2:11Shack at midnight in your hotel room.
- 2:13Anyways, so we're in the car, we're going to the airport and we're like,
- 2:17thank God, like let's get the F out of Chicago. We're literally there for a
- 2:21night. Like we're at Wrigley Field the day before doing this crazy competition.
- 2:25And by the way, I'm having the girls come on the show for like a tell all when
- 2:30it comes out next summer. These girls are the cutest. I'm obsessed with them.
- 2:34Anyway, I also call them like my kids, even though they're like,
- 2:38actually one of the girls is my age, but they kind of feel like my kids,
- 2:41right? Like they're, I'm literally like their counselor.
- 2:44I'm their babysitter, like whatever you want to call it.
- 2:47Oh my God. Anyway, it's just so crazy. Sorry. I keep getting so sidetracked.
- 2:52So we get in the car and we're going to the airport back to that story.
- 2:56And the Uber driver just goes every wrong way, like doesn't go on the highway,
- 3:00even though there's like, there's one big highway in Chicago that you can get on.
- 3:04And he, I think it's like a Lake shore drive or something just doesn't take it.
- 3:07Just weaves in and out of like all these intersections.
- 3:11And we're like, whatever we get to the airport and then my friend like the producer
- 3:16I'm working with this guy was like we just passed arrivals or he's going to
- 3:21arrivals not departures and I was like you're kidding he's like no I'm serious,
- 3:25so I pull into arrivals the guy like doesn't understand all these cars are beeping at him,
- 3:30also I forgot to mention that he when he picked us up he went the opposite way
- 3:35down a run down the one way to pick us up anyway so we get in off of arrivals,
- 3:41and of course my suitcase is too heavy so I have to like take stuff out of that
- 3:45in front of this guy so embarrassing but like at this point this guy is used
- 3:49to it because I do this every fucking flight which is every three or four days
- 3:53at this point so he's used to me doing this so.
- 3:56We go to the airport I think everything was fine and oh okay then we get on
- 4:03the flight and I was like you know it's 10 a.m we've already had a morning and
- 4:06I'm just like I'm just gonna fucking like zone out and just chill,
- 4:10So I sit down in my seat and i'm so pissed i'm in a middle seat on a southwest
- 4:15flight who no one No one should ever be in that position in their lives.
- 4:20So I sit down next to like this guy next to me and he's like,
- 4:25whatever, we like look at each other. I've never seen this guy before in my life.
- 4:29And he's like talking to, and one of the lighting guys is like behind me putting
- 4:33his stuff up in the rafters or whatever you want to call it, up in the bin.
- 4:37And the guy next to me is talking to him. I'm like, why is he talking?
- 4:41Like, why is he talking to one of our lighting guys?
- 4:43And then it dawns on me and I turn to him and I say, are you one of us?
- 4:47And he was like, yes. Hi, Lindsay.
- 4:50How embarrassed i hate when people say hi lindsey and i don't know who they
- 4:54are it freaks me out i need to have a better memory.
- 4:58So obviously i'm so mortified because he was like yeah like we've met like i've
- 5:02seen you like i see you hustling around like you're such a hard worker
- 5:07and i was like oh my god like thank you so much i'm so freaking sorry that that
- 5:12happened so then the other lighting guy sits down next to me.
- 5:15And mind you, these are like two huge dudes.
- 5:18So I'm like squished in between them on this flight.
- 5:23And so the other, when the other lighting guy sits down, he's like,
- 5:25do you guys want a tequila shot? And at that point in my life, I'm like, hell yeah.
- 5:29Anyway, I had, I kid you not, the best fucking plane ride of my life.
- 5:34Like I told my mom that she's like, who says that they had the best plane ride?
- 5:40And I was like, I don't know, but like we just had the best time
- 5:43and like afterwards we like felt like we had to apologize to everyone around
- 5:48us who had to listen to these wild conversations that we're having i don't even
- 5:52remember really what we were talking about like it was just bullshit but it was just so much fun,
- 5:58anyway so we land and i feel like they had like dropped me back off with my
- 6:03dad and like these guys are like let's go party on bourbon street and i was
- 6:06like no guys like i actually have to go work now.
- 6:09So I have to meet up with the other producer guy. And we...
- 6:14Somebody actually called him my dad the other day on Bourbon Street when we
- 6:18were walking around. He was not happy about that, obviously.
- 6:22But he also... Never mind.
- 6:25Oh, and I forgot to mention, as I'm going to the airport, as I'm going through
- 6:28security screening, obviously I got chosen for the random security check.
- 6:34Because why wouldn't I be? So then we get to the New Orleans airport, to the hotel here.
- 6:41And as I'm checking in I get the notification that Dolly Parton died and I say
- 6:47that to the woman checking me in and I'm in New Orleans mind you and the woman
- 6:52says to me I don't know who that is,
- 6:55what you don't know you don't know who Dolly Parton is so I said to her how
- 7:00do you not know and she was like,
- 7:02I don't know I'm not from this country like but.
- 7:06Like some things that happen, you just, you can't make up.
- 7:10So after that, I go out with the other producer to go scouting.
- 7:15And that's when he gets called my dad again, but not again, but that was the
- 7:18first time he got called my dad.
- 7:20And the production manager, she's been in this business out for like 20 years
- 7:24and she's just absolutely had it on the show. A lot of people have lost it on
- 7:28the show. Just, you know, hit the wall on it.
- 7:31And she was like, you're going to lose that light in your eye Lindsay and I
- 7:34was like no I'm not so yesterday the other producer and I we finished our scout
- 7:39and we head over to like this 50s diner that had like their own like soft serve machine,
- 7:46and I'm sitting there with him we're like finishing our lunch,
- 7:50and we ordered I don't even know we ordered we ordered like deviled eggs and
- 7:53milkshakes well no he ordered a milkshake and like a sandwich and I like made
- 7:58him get his sandwich toasted and I think he was mad at me but I'm like,
- 8:02you can't just like have an untoasted tuna melt that's disgusting it's just a tuna sandwich,
- 8:08whatever besides the point,
- 8:10the waitress and I'm and I feel myself like going like I'm crashing out and
- 8:14the waitress comes over she's like is everything okay and I was like,
- 8:17you see the light in my eyes right and she was like yeah there she's like actually
- 8:21looking into my eyes she's like yeah I think I see some light in there I'm just
- 8:26like okay thank you there's light there has to be light.
- 8:31Yeah. Anyway. And then the fricking, uh, waiter, I go up to get an ice cream
- 8:37cone from him because I'm like, you know, maybe that'll make me feel better.
- 8:41Like how can ice cream not make me feel better? And he's Jewish.
- 8:45Then he writes his name and number down on the back of a receipt.
- 8:48And I'm like, Oh my God, can everyone leave me alone for like five minutes?
- 8:53Like, yes, it's very flattering, but like, that's when I started to really crash
- 8:57out because I'm just like, I just want to have five minutes where people leave
- 9:00me alone. I can just have a normal conversation.
- 9:03But all is good. I got nine hours of sleep last night, so I feel better.
- 9:08And I'm not going to drink any more espresso for a little bit because I don't think my body needs it.
