- 1:17Speaker 1: Team Tolerator.
- 1:18Speaker 3: As part of the Patreon you are the only people
- 1:21Speaker 3: getting new content during our summer break, and today we
- 1:24Speaker 3: have the one, the only Julia Washington to do our
- 1:27Speaker 3: midyear manifestation check in.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Oh, thank you for having me back.
- 1:34Speaker 2: I'm so excited to be here for the crowd.
- 1:37Speaker 5: Noise that I made.
- 1:41Speaker 3: If you don't recall, Julia is always the person that
- 1:44Speaker 3: does our New Year's Eve check in, So then we
- 1:47Speaker 3: try to successfully actually reflect on those goals in the summer.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Well, you know what, we're doing great because it's still June,
- 1:57Speaker 5: and last year I think we did it in September.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah, we're already crushing our goals.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Yes. Oh well, my year word was quality.
- 2:13Speaker 3: And I I don't know, this summer is so weird.
- 2:17Speaker 5: Tell me why why is it weird? I feel like
- 2:19Speaker 5: you've had a good summer.
- 2:20Speaker 3: I know, I feel like I've had a good summer,
- 2:23Speaker 3: but it also feels like I have been just like
- 2:26Speaker 3: playing house having a good summer, and like everything is
- 2:29Speaker 3: actually on pause, like once again, I'm not working, like
- 2:35Speaker 3: there's no rhyme or reason to what the direction of
- 2:38Speaker 3: my life will be. And when I look back at
- 2:42Speaker 3: my yearly taro spread, it was like, okay, well June
- 2:46Speaker 3: was supposed to be like just a nothing month. It
- 2:48Speaker 3: was just like nothing will happen this month and we're
- 2:50Speaker 3: all just gonna be okay. And I'm like, that's not
- 2:53Speaker 3: how I hoper right.
- 2:56Speaker 5: Why does it sound like I've been smoking all night?
- 2:58Speaker 5: I have not continue up late and we're not late night. Well,
- 3:02Speaker 5: I'm a late night person, but you are not. Oh well,
- 3:04Speaker 5: and then my dog woke me up early, so yeah,
- 3:06Speaker 5: that's okay.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Continue uh so.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it just feels like there's no moving or shaking happening.
- 3:16Speaker 3: And it also feels like twenty twenty four was supposed
- 3:20Speaker 3: to be like my no, and a bunch of new
- 3:24Speaker 3: challenges will be put in front of you, and you
- 3:27Speaker 3: will be active for an entire year towards your hopes
- 3:30Speaker 3: and your dreams. And today I told Annie, what if
- 3:33Speaker 3: I just sold my house so and lived as a
- 3:35Speaker 3: lady of leisure in my dad's upstairs bedroom and refuse
- 3:40Speaker 3: to work because I'm like, well, why do I have
- 3:42Speaker 3: to work now? I don't have to afford a mortgage
- 3:44Speaker 3: or groceries?
- 3:45Speaker 4: You do that?
- 3:46Speaker 5: Doesn't he live near Chicago?
- 3:47Speaker 4: Though he does. It's a plan, so.
- 3:49Speaker 5: Then you could just drive into Chicago to do all
- 3:52Speaker 5: the stuff you need to do to work towards your goals.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Yes, truly, it is a train ride away into Chicago
- 3:59Speaker 3: or an hour drive it.
- 4:00Speaker 5: Yeah, Like so I feel like this is the solution.
- 4:03Speaker 5: I mean, I'm not, and I don't love the idea
- 4:06Speaker 5: of you moving in with your parent. Yeah, but if
- 4:09Speaker 5: it means it gets you closer to Chicago so you
- 4:11Speaker 5: can like pursue comedy. Then I'm what's the problem do
- 4:15Speaker 5: we a pro con list?
- 4:17Speaker 3: It's just like every once in a while, selling my
- 4:20Speaker 3: house makes me cry, and then every once in a
- 4:22Speaker 3: while selling my house, it's like who cares? The world's ending?
- 4:25Speaker 5: And like I literally was talking with my friends today,
- 4:28Speaker 5: it's like, oh, I cashed out a retirement to continue
- 4:30Speaker 5: funding my first year of business, and she's like, we're
- 4:34Speaker 5: not going to be We're not going to see retirement anyway,
- 4:36Speaker 5: So yeah, why not?
- 4:37Speaker 3: You know, you know, think of all those people who
- 4:40Speaker 3: were like, don't cash out your retirement.
- 4:42Speaker 2: That's so drastic.
- 4:44Speaker 3: And as you know, I've cashed out all of my
- 4:47Speaker 3: retirements to just try and keep my mortgage paid for
- 4:50Speaker 3: the last several years. And all I can think about
- 4:54Speaker 3: is everyone's retirement's going to go away, and Julia and
- 4:57Speaker 3: I were right all along for cashing it out because
- 5:01Speaker 3: I don't know, it just feels like one day I'll
- 5:04Speaker 3: wake up and the banks have all shut down.
- 5:08Speaker 5: Yeah, Like that's literally how I feel too, And like,
- 5:11Speaker 5: if you get on that side of TikTok, that is
- 5:14Speaker 5: like explaining how all these like multimillionaire billionaire people are
- 5:18Speaker 5: just dumping their stock for money because the market trajectory
- 5:22Speaker 5: doesn't look great.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I don't understand it. But if rich people are like, I.
- 5:27Speaker 5: Gotta get out, this is gonna isn't gonna end, well,
- 5:30Speaker 5: that's alarming, right.
- 5:32Speaker 3: So I told Annie today after I biffed a job
- 5:35Speaker 3: interview that I didn't want, I was like, Annie, why
- 5:40Speaker 3: am I looking for a job? If, like, literally the
- 5:42Speaker 3: President of the United States can't string together a sentence,
- 5:46Speaker 3: So anyways, it feels dumb to be looking.
- 5:49Speaker 4: For a job.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Yes, when it's it just feels like we're all gonna
- 5:53Speaker 3: have a job for two weeks and then the world's
- 5:55Speaker 3: gonna end. It's gonna be like, do I want to
- 5:57Speaker 3: spend my last two weeks on Earth at a job?
- 6:00Speaker 4: No? No, So basically, but.
- 6:06Speaker 3: There were things that I did do that showed progress,
- 6:09Speaker 3: Like a lot of it was only spend time with
- 6:12Speaker 3: people you actually want to spend.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Time with, and I'm doing that.
- 6:15Speaker 3: A lot of it was also like find ways to
- 6:18Speaker 3: spend time with your long distance friends.
- 6:20Speaker 2: And I went to Nashville.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Yeah, Annie and I watched Love Island for a long
- 6:25Speaker 3: distance at the same time, every night.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I say one another back and forth.
- 6:33Speaker 5: She's like, hey, babes.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Yes, Annie. I think at this point Annie and I
- 6:39Speaker 3: are each other's partners.
- 6:40Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Well, I mean, I don't think you could ask for
- 6:43Speaker 5: a worst partner. I think that you've kind of made
- 6:47Speaker 5: a good decision there, Yeah, Or is it asked for
- 6:50Speaker 5: a better partner. I don't think for a better part.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I could probably ask for a worst part.
- 6:56Speaker 4: There you go.
- 6:57Speaker 5: This is what happened. Sorry, Annie, this is I didn't
- 6:59Speaker 5: mean to to unintentionally offent you. This is what happens
- 7:02Speaker 5: when I haven't had breakfast, only coffee and I'm month
- 7:05Speaker 5: four hours of sleep.
- 7:07Speaker 3: And but okay, I think also part of having a
- 7:13Speaker 3: midyear check in during the summer is this is when
- 7:16Speaker 3: I put everything to bed and rest.
- 7:19Speaker 2: But like all the show's on rest.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Like I'm not I could be writing more, meaning I'm
- 7:26Speaker 3: not writing at all.
- 7:27Speaker 5: But I could be writing more, but i'm not.
- 7:30Speaker 4: But i'm not. I'm watching Love Island.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Uh.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Like I was like, oh, that's right. I did want
- 7:37Speaker 3: to start making art just for me. Again, that's been
- 7:39Speaker 3: reduced to I color at night while I'm watching TV.
- 7:46Speaker 5: I mean, I don't think there's anything wrong with that, right, Oh,
- 7:51Speaker 5: I guess I should you tell me when you're ready
- 7:54Speaker 5: to hear my stuff I'm talking about you.
- 7:57Speaker 3: No, I'm ready do some of your stuff too.
- 8:00Speaker 5: So I had said, you know, like out, I'm leaving
- 8:05Speaker 5: out like like my main my main takeaway from real
- 8:09Speaker 5: listening to our episode back in January was like, oh,
- 8:11Speaker 5: I really wanted to focus on my business and grow that,
- 8:13Speaker 5: and you are m so like I had said something like, oh,
- 8:18Speaker 5: you know, I don't think I specifically said I didn't
- 8:21Speaker 5: have a business name. It was just like my like
- 8:23Speaker 5: all they label say hand poured by Julia or like
- 8:26Speaker 5: hand page by Julia. So like I came up, I
- 8:28Speaker 5: have a business name. I have been doing consistent business
- 8:32Speaker 5: two days a week. It's not enough to leave my
- 8:36Speaker 5: full time my contracts for but it could be if I,
- 8:41Speaker 5: you know, step it up a little bit. Yeah, and yeah,
- 8:46Speaker 5: it's just like it's just when I was listening to
- 8:49Speaker 5: the our chatty chat chat chat from January, is like,
- 8:55Speaker 5: holy shit, I am really and truly like doing the
- 9:01Speaker 5: thing that we like we had talked about, and like
- 9:06Speaker 5: I had said, like, oh, these are the things that
- 9:08Speaker 5: I want to do and then I've been doing them.
- 9:12Speaker 5: Am I like wildly successful? No, But I'm on the
- 9:16Speaker 5: trajectory to be well.
- 9:18Speaker 3: And I also remember that back in January we had
- 9:21Speaker 3: both come to terms with the fact that this wasn't
- 9:23Speaker 3: going to be our successful year. This was going to
- 9:27Speaker 3: be our building year, which I feel like I've been
- 9:30Speaker 3: in building modes since I got laid off during the pandemic.
- 9:34Speaker 4: But well, and I don't think.
- 9:36Speaker 5: We anticipated just how hard it was going to be
- 9:39Speaker 5: to like, just how devastating the impact of the pandemic
- 9:44Speaker 5: was going to be on us personally, not necessarily like
- 9:48Speaker 5: the economy, but like just in general, on us personally,
- 9:52Speaker 5: because it.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Is, Yeah, working working in this day of age is bonkers.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Like if you were laid off during the pandemic and
- 10:03Speaker 3: you seemlessly went back to a job as soon as
- 10:07Speaker 3: people were allowed out of their homes, how how I
- 10:12Speaker 3: truly know?
- 10:13Speaker 4: But how no? But how no? But how no? But
- 10:16Speaker 4: how how no? But look? How did you do it?
- 10:22Speaker 2: Also? Is that job still remote?
- 10:25Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 10:26Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 10:27Speaker 4: Uh.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Lately I have been getting rid of the notion that
- 10:30Speaker 3: I have to be working a remote job to do
- 10:33Speaker 3: all of the things that I actually want to do.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Successfully and instead, as you know, my goal is to
- 10:39Speaker 3: just get a dumb girl job. Yeah, like a job
- 10:42Speaker 3: that I do not have to think. I think that
- 10:46Speaker 3: that's one of the reasons I biffed this interview today
- 10:48Speaker 3: because he's like, you just seem to like want to
- 10:51Speaker 3: sit at a desk for several hours.
- 10:53Speaker 4: And then leave.
- 10:53Speaker 3: And I was like, ding ding ding, buddy, that one, Well, isn't.
- 10:57Speaker 5: That interesting because didn't we have a conversation a few
- 11:00Speaker 5: months ago about how I might have like self self
- 11:04Speaker 5: subconsciously self sabotaged the library interview because the idea of
- 11:08Speaker 5: going back to like here's the schedule you must carry
- 11:12Speaker 5: was real stress.
- 11:14Speaker 4: It was stress And.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Basically, by the way, I was a great interview.
- 11:20Speaker 4: I'm very charming.
- 11:22Speaker 3: But he asked me what was the most important thing
- 11:24Speaker 3: in an employer, and I basically laid it out. I
- 11:27Speaker 3: was like, here's the thing. I am a person who
- 11:30Speaker 3: lives a full life. I produce, I write, I'm an artist,
- 11:35Speaker 3: I'm a creative all of these things that your college
- 11:38Speaker 3: is supposedly bankrolling off of people feeling Sancuary College of.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Design, and I was like, I live a full life.
- 11:52Speaker 3: My full life needs for me to have great boundaries
- 11:55Speaker 3: and work life balance. But I also know that if
- 12:00Speaker 3: your employer doesn't have great boundaries or work life balance,
- 12:05Speaker 3: then yours don't matter.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Correct because it's correct because.
- 12:09Speaker 5: They will text you at six o'clock at night. They'll
- 12:11Speaker 5: expect you to be in at whatever time they're in, Like,
- 12:15Speaker 5: why don't you work as hard as I do? Kind
- 12:17Speaker 5: of bullshit, right, And there's a power dynamic.
- 12:21Speaker 3: And if he's in from six am to eight pm
- 12:26Speaker 3: and I'm not, he doesn't really feel like I'm making,
- 12:31Speaker 3: like I can get as much done as possible in
- 12:34Speaker 3: the two hours that he gets done all day. He
- 12:37Speaker 3: but it's that whole in person setup where it's like, no,
- 12:40Speaker 3: if you're not chained to.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Your desk and phone, how are you.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Supposed to be making? What are you even doing?
- 12:47Speaker 3: And like I could tell immediately that he was over
- 12:50Speaker 3: me at that point when I was like, I just
- 12:53Speaker 3: want a boss that also understands that people have lives.
- 12:56Speaker 3: By the way, his department currently had has a baby
- 13:00Speaker 3: being born today and two other babies on the way,
- 13:04Speaker 3: so it's like, so, dude, your department's about to change.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Those people are parents, right, you need to start thinking
- 13:11Speaker 3: about how you don't keep these people here till nine
- 13:13Speaker 3: o'clock at night.
