- Jessica Figueroa: Hello, listeners. You are listening to the Just For Today podcast where we spend a couple minutes together every morning ideally going over something we're gonna do just for today. We base this on a writing from Dale Carnegie's book, How to Stop Worrying and How to Start Living. So today's assignment is to deep clean your kitchen sink. Clear it out. I want you to get in there. I want you to get an old toothbrush out. I want you to get some bleach out, maybe comet. I'm not sure what you use. But I want you to just focus on making that sink as shiny if it's metal or aluminum or as if it's white as sparkly as possible. That's it. I want you to deep clean your kitchen sink. Get in those little crevices, get in where the sink is attached to the countertop, and really spend some time and effort making it as clean as you possibly can. And you're like, why? Why do I need to deep clean my kitchen sink? One, it gets gross. It just does. But also when life feels chaotic, learning to do things like this gives us this immediate sense of control and it can reduce anxiety. I know it sounds crazy, but life is hard, right? And days get hard and days can feel chaotic, especially if you're a mom and there's a lot going on. So spending 10 minutes on one activity that you can complete from start to finish and admire the results is really reduces anxiety. It's going to reduce your mental load. It has this kind of reset effect. And it's also the center point of your kitchen. So then when you walk by it, you're gonna appreciate the beauty of your shiny, sparkly sink. So just for today, we are going to deep clean our kitchen sink. And then when you're done, I just want you to step back and look at it and admire the smell and notice all the grime you got out. And that I want you to think about doing with your mind and your thoughts, because that's what we're here doing. During this process of this podcast, if you stay with me and listen to this on most days. That's exactly what we're doing. We're deep cleaning our mind. So I want you to deep clean your sink and think about how together we're deep cleaning our mind. The thing is, the mind can't be done in 10 minutes. The sink can. The mind takes years. Get in there, get the supplies out, play your favorite song or no music at all. Enjoy the process of deep cleaning your sink. I promise you're gonna feel better. I'll see you guys tomorrow.
