- 1:07SPEAKER_01: Facebook's still my favorite, but I found myself using and liking LinkedIn even more than Instagram, which is crazy.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: And uh that's really happened over the last year and a half to two years.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: I used to despise LinkedIn a lot.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: I I it's funny, you'll hear me say on this uh during the interview, but I I used to use Google Plus more than LinkedIn.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: I hated LinkedIn, but it's a completely different platform.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: It's so much more social, it's so much more content-friendly, and more laid back, if you will, less stuffy.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: And it's just a great, powerful way to be seen, to be recognized, to be found, whether that's at a local level or nationally or globally, it doesn't matter what you do for a living.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: And real estate agents, we have such great visual stuff that we can put out there that LinkedIn is just a perfect platform, but you've got to know how to use it correctly.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Judy Fox, our guest this week, is incredible.

- 2:31SPEAKER_01: She because I thought, well, you just need to put out a bunch of content, right?
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: Which, what type of content's best?
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: Video?
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: Should you write it?
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: Should you do an article?
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: But it's actually none of those.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: She gives us the number one tip for growing your LinkedIn visibility and audience, and it's not what you think.

- 5:47SPEAKER_01: Appreciate it.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: Let's get into the interview with Judy Fox, LinkedIn expert right now.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: What's up, guys?
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: I'm here with Judy Fox, the world's greatest LinkedIn expert from uh from my point of view, anyways.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: And I think it's scientific facts.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Judy, welcome to the Massive Agent Podcast.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: How are you?
- 6:03SPEAKER_04: Thank you for having me.
- 6:04SPEAKER_04: I love that intro.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Well, we'll have to make you a plaque.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: We'll send it out for you on your desk or something.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: Uh welcome.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm excited to talk about LinkedIn today.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Uh, it's it's funny, um, and I haven't told you this yet, but uh a few years ago, I'd say two plus years ago, LinkedIn was by far the platform I hated the most.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: I despised LinkedIn.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: I liked Google Plus better.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: I used Google Plus more.
- 6:33SPEAKER_04: And I also saw a lot of success on Google Plus, so I kind of know what you mean.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, for a content creator, and I was doing a lot of blogging at the time, and it was great for getting your content seen.
- 6:43SPEAKER_04: Uh it was really I had a couple million views on Google Plus.
- 6:47SPEAKER_04: I never tell people that, but I think I was at four million over there.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: Oh wow.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: So yeah, that's not insignificant.
- 6:54SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 6:54SPEAKER_04: So we're talking about something that we both completely understand.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: But LinkedIn changed.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: It it changed dramatically, in my opinion.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: So it became now one of my top three platforms.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, I say Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn are what I use most, but I like LinkedIn more than Instagram.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: And it's just a totally different platform.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: And I get a lot of reach.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: I get a lot of uh you know great things happening over there.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: So uh it and it just so happens you are one of the one of the experts on LinkedIn.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: Probably you're the LinkedIn expert that that I looked up to and trust.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: And so I'm really excited for this conversation.
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: Um, real quick for for anyone who doesn't know you yet, Judy, who you know, how did you get to become this LinkedIn expert?
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: Um, what I'm sorry, what did you tell me?
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: You're you're a LinkedIn business accelerator.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 7:47SPEAKER_04: Yes, I love accelerating people's business results on LinkedIn.
- 7:52SPEAKER_04: And I This can happen fast.
- 7:54SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 7:54SPEAKER_04: And I think what's really fascinating about my journey is a lot of people don't realize that business and having and knowing how to have business conversations, it kind of transcends title, it transcends degree.
- 8:08SPEAKER_04: If you can learn how to network and speak the language of sales and business development, you can go so far in life.
- 8:15SPEAKER_04: It doesn't matter what your degree is in at this point.
- 8:18SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 8:19SPEAKER_04: So with all of the knowledge that we have on the internet and everything that we know how to do today, it's extremely powerful to use a platform like LinkedIn.
- 8:28SPEAKER_04: So the way that I got started truly goes all the way back to even before I really knew about LinkedIn, I was already in my spare time learning how to code HTML websites.
- 8:41SPEAKER_04: Like I loved the internet.
- 8:43SPEAKER_04: Like, is that a just a thing?
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Totally.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:46SPEAKER_04: I just loved the internet.
- 8:48SPEAKER_04: I loved all the things you could figure out how to do.
- 8:50SPEAKER_04: I've always loved uh programming and coding and learning those types of things.
- 8:55SPEAKER_04: So with that knowledge, plus my engineering knowledge, plus then getting my master's in business sustainability, all of that merged into the perfect storm when the economic crisis of 2008 hit.
- 9:08SPEAKER_04: And I realized uh either it was instinct meets experience, but I looked out in the world and I said, if I try to apply on any of these online networks, my resume is just gonna end up in a stack of a thousand people, and I am not gonna stand out.
- 9:23SPEAKER_04: So the only way that I'm gonna get a job in this climate is to network my way to it.
- 9:28SPEAKER_04: So I studied everything I could about networking.
- 9:30SPEAKER_04: LinkedIn was extremely high up there in the world of networking.
- 9:34SPEAKER_04: So I joined LinkedIn literally the day I got laid off or the day I took a leave of absence.
- 9:39SPEAKER_04: It was kind of a strange time back then.
- 9:42SPEAKER_04: But I um started, I actually started traveling the world, packed up everything I owned in suitcases and storage, and then traveled the world for a year while networking online and learning how to be location independent.
- 9:56SPEAKER_04: Does that make sense?
- 9:57SPEAKER_04: Like that was my like feet to the fire.
- 10:00SPEAKER_04: This is how opportunities happen.
- 10:02SPEAKER_04: So I was networking to gig work, fractional kind of work, contracts, um, put my CV together, started networking with small consulting firms because those consulting firms love having fractional type of workers.
- 10:19SPEAKER_04: So they don't have to hire you full-time, you just kind of walk in when they need you and they close a deal with a major company.
- 10:25SPEAKER_04: Like I said, I've worked for Tesla, Ingersoll Rand, and um Kraft and all these major companies, but it's because you get in to being listed as part of the resources that they need for that team, if that makes sense.
- 10:40SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 10:40SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: So, you know, on the corporate, in the corporate world, which uh, you know, I think I I would not be able to hack it.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: So um, you know, congratulations.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: Um, I am absolutely unemployable at every level.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: Um, but uh it it sounds like even back then uh you you learned pretty quickly that it's it's not just about what you know, it's who you know.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: And so you saw LinkedIn as a great way to know more people and to get them to know you, yes?
- 11:14SPEAKER_04: Yes, exactly.
- 11:15SPEAKER_04: So it's and it wasn't necessarily always about writing content back then.
- 11:21SPEAKER_04: So the platform has evolved since 10 years ago, but even 10 years ago, I was writing content, which I can scroll all the way back to 10 years ago, and I have done it.
- 11:30SPEAKER_04: And some of those posts are pretty cringy, but it's hilarious because I have the same style, the same type of energy, very how can I put information out into the world that the world needs and highlights what I know.
- 11:46SPEAKER_04: So it's kind of this like thing that I've always known how to do and taught myself how to do it, especially from studying people online from the beginning.
- 11:55SPEAKER_04: So, like the Marie Forleos, and she was probably really high in my timeline for who I followed online, but I studied how do you go viral and listened to all the things I could listen to, the videos, because there's a formula to it.
- 12:09SPEAKER_04: It's really not as I don't know what the word is, but as confusing as some people think it is, or as oh, it's just random.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: It's not random.
- 12:18SPEAKER_04: Anyone who knows how to go viral, it is not random.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: Uh I haven't figured that on LinkedIn, but well, no, actually, the formula for me was writing something semi-cool and getting Chelsea Pitts to share it on LinkedIn.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: And that for me, I mean it she should but what here's what's weird about LinkedIn.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna ask you a random question.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: On my dashboard and my insights, it showed that I had like a reach of like 50,000 or something like that.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: But hers, she sent me a screenshot and it was up to like a million.
- 12:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: And I didn't see any of that.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: Um are the insights kind of uh lacking on LinkedIn or incomplete or just behind, or um like should I have seen like my total reach for for that post?
- 13:03SPEAKER_04: So what's interesting is Chelsea, when she when anyone shares a post, so we'll make it generic now.
- 13:10SPEAKER_04: So I make the original post.
- 13:12SPEAKER_04: I am you, Dustin, making the original post.
- 13:14SPEAKER_04: It's awesome, it's great.
- 13:16SPEAKER_04: And then somebody shares it.
- 13:18SPEAKER_04: That person can sometimes get the more views because uh people didn't click on what I wrote, they clicked on what, say, Chelsea wrote.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:29SPEAKER_04: So each person gets a space as part of the share to get the interaction.
- 13:35SPEAKER_04: So you did get a lot of visibility, 50,000 views.
- 13:38SPEAKER_04: But the reason why she hit a million is because she maybe had way more likes and comments.
- 13:43SPEAKER_04: She maybe had way more people clicking that see more to read the rest of her post versus reading the rest of you and what you wrote.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: This is actually really good because if you're getting shares on your content, you're getting at least the numbers that you're seeing on your dashboard.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Um, I mean, those people all saw my name, they all saw me.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: Um, it just wasn't showing up as an impression or as a view on my side.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: So that's awesome.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: Like so, really, the insights are just the minimum.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: Yes, if you're getting shares, yeah.
- 14:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I some people really don't see the value of shares, but like you said, it's everything coordinate with somebody, like you said with Chelsea, or you have shares are off the charts amazing.
- 14:30SPEAKER_04: Plus, I will say that if you nail the concept of the psychology of what will get shared, it will get likes, it will get comments.
- 14:40SPEAKER_04: If you make something shareable, it's gonna hit the other two categories.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: So many yeah.
- 14:45SPEAKER_04: So we always want to increase visibility.
- 14:48SPEAKER_04: If you have a voice, if you have a brand, if you have a product, if you have a house, if you have a property, if you have a business, you want people to see your business, right?
- 14:58SPEAKER_04: Every single person listening right now would love some more visibility, I would think.
- 15:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the only way people hire you is because they know you exist.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 15:10SPEAKER_04: If they don't know you exist, how can they hire you?
- 15:12SPEAKER_04: Like they literally can't.
- 15:13SPEAKER_04: It's just facts.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: Thanks.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: So yes.
- 15:17SPEAKER_04: So we want to get some visibility.
- 15:19SPEAKER_04: Well, the main thing is to get visibility, you can build out your perfect profile on LinkedIn.
- 15:24SPEAKER_04: But again, if nobody's seeing it, you have no visibility.
- 15:28SPEAKER_04: So let's create some generating some information, some buzz, some content.
- 15:33SPEAKER_04: So that's that idea of building some content so people will see your profile.
- 15:38SPEAKER_04: The whole goal of creating content is not just, hey, I want to be popular, but let's drive traffic to my profile that's been built to sell what I have to sell.
- 15:47SPEAKER_04: So if you've got your content and you know that you will get seen if you get more likes, more comments, and more shares.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: What uh when you say content, what is what should the average real estate agent or any business person, what what type of content should they be focused on?
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: Because I've heard a few different things that just long text uh posts on LinkedIn perform very, very well.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: But then I've heard video even outperforms that.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: And and if you write an article that outperforms even that.
- 16:20SPEAKER_04: Um I'm gonna have all of the above.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 16:24SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna blow your mind.
- 16:25SPEAKER_04: Every single one of my clients, I literally do not coach them on how to do any of those pieces of content first.
- 16:32SPEAKER_04: And I will grow their accounts by over 2,000, sometimes 5,000 percent.
- 16:37SPEAKER_04: I've even had one client hit a million views in a week from this type of content.
- 16:43SPEAKER_04: So let me tell you, it's high-level quality comments.
- 16:48SPEAKER_04: You go and flood the platform, so LinkedIn shows comments unlike every other platform.
- 16:55SPEAKER_04: So Instagram, no, Twitter, no, uh, Facebook, no.
- 17:00SPEAKER_04: But when you make a LinkedIn comment, you show up in the newsfeed.
- 17:05SPEAKER_04: Your comment can actually get the attention.
- 17:07SPEAKER_04: Like I had one client literally get enough attention from Ariana Huffington, who has nine million followers, that she shared my client's post.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 17:18SPEAKER_04: And she has nine million followers.
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: So if she had never gotten the attention of Ariana Huffington by making a high quality comment, and Ariana does not reply to every comment, by the way.
- 17:30SPEAKER_04: So she made a high quality comment.
- 17:32SPEAKER_04: Ariana in the comments below said, This sounds incredible.
- 17:35SPEAKER_04: Basically, do you have an article on this?
- 17:37SPEAKER_04: I will share it to Thrive Global.
- 17:39SPEAKER_04: Turned around and shared a post that my client had written, shared it on her personal pro LinkedIn profile, literally wrote out the name of my client.
- 17:48SPEAKER_04: This is written from Dee Hutchinson, and then said, Here she's now an author, and we've uploaded her to Thrive Global.
- 17:55SPEAKER_04: And all happened from one comment.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 17:58SPEAKER_04: So it can explode your entire platform by starting with comments.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: Well, I don't want to take any wind out of your sales, but I'm finally connecting some dots in my own head about LinkedIn.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: So I would think then, uh, because one of my questions was going to be if you were not really using LinkedIn at all, what's the best place to start?
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: Would it just be engaging and commenting?
- 18:19SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 18:20SPEAKER_04: But do high quality ones.
- 18:22SPEAKER_04: And I even have a one-page sheet that gives you the five tips for the what is high quality.
- 18:27SPEAKER_04: A high quality comment is active listening back to the person who wrote the post.
- 18:33SPEAKER_04: So it's it's the same exact thing that me and you are doing right now.
- 18:37SPEAKER_04: You're saying something, I'm making sure you feel seen and heard by saying I'm, oh, I'm hearing you say this.
- 18:44SPEAKER_04: We're we're doing what's called active listening.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: We know, you know, I heard what you said.
- 18:48SPEAKER_04: You I know you heard what I said.
- 18:50SPEAKER_04: And it's natural in life, but for some reason on LinkedIn or any in any platform online, sometimes we forget that natural human language is powerful online.
- 19:02SPEAKER_04: So if we can reflect what that looks like to active listening, so sometimes I'll repeat what somebody says in their post above.
- 19:10SPEAKER_04: And I will say, this part of your post really resonated with me, blah, blah, blah.
- 19:15SPEAKER_04: Like I will literally, word for word, write out what they said, and then I'll say why it resonated with me.
- 19:21SPEAKER_04: And I give enough lines of context and I make sure to do the at symbol and always tag Dustin back.
- 19:28SPEAKER_04: And I make sure he sees this comment.
- 19:31SPEAKER_04: That's the next thing.
- 19:32SPEAKER_04: And then once he sees this comment, and especially if I happen to be an early commenter, mine will be the most relevant comment at the top.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: And if you go on LinkedIn and you spend any time on there, you'll start to see that a lot of people are making too kind of light comments.
- 19:48SPEAKER_04: They're saying great post and they don't tag you, or they say something, hey, this is what I think, and it's too much all about them immediately.
- 19:56SPEAKER_04: So the most powerful comments are the ones that active listen to the post.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: Are comments weighted, or is the quality of the comment weighted differently within the algorithm?
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: You know, I I would think that LinkedIn just kind of they're like, oh, you said great episode, or you know, congratulations, or great post.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: Probably isn't as good as, like you said, a high-level thoughtful comment.
- 20:19SPEAKER_04: So your comment will end up in the news feed if it's what's called the most relevant comment.
- 20:24SPEAKER_04: And LinkedIn is autumn, unless you change your settings, LinkedIn auto sets everyone to see the most relevant comment at the top.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 20:34SPEAKER_04: So you end up at the top of all of the conversations out there, which is I've had people tell me, I literally like there was one week where I decided I am going to comment like it's nobody's business.
- 20:46SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna do like 50 to 100 comments, like I'm gonna go crazy just to test it out and see what happens.
- 20:52SPEAKER_04: My profile views were off the charts.
- 20:54SPEAKER_04: I was getting at least 10,000 views on my profile.
- 20:57SPEAKER_04: Then I was getting so many people reaching out and saying, all I see is Judy Fox everywhere.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 21:03SPEAKER_04: And that's way more powerful than me creating my own piece of content.
- 21:07SPEAKER_04: I know that sounds funny, but comments are content.
- 21:09SPEAKER_04: And I tell all my clients if you're making those high-quality comments, document them because then those are your original thoughts and your pieces.
- 21:18SPEAKER_04: That second part of that post, I think of it as a post.
- 21:21SPEAKER_04: See how I just even said your comment can become your content.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's good.
- 21:28SPEAKER_04: So you're not wasting any time, you're not wasting any of your thoughts.
- 21:31SPEAKER_04: Your thought leadership should be in that comment to the point that you can turn it into that text post.
- 21:38SPEAKER_04: And then from there, going forward, just like you said, all these uh experts go out there and they're like, You're supposed to do text, you're supposed to do video, you're supposed to do this.
- 21:47SPEAKER_04: I will tell you that having video in your um, you know, type of content strategy, it allows people to get to know you.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:57SPEAKER_04: So there isn't there is only upside for.
- 22:00SPEAKER_04: Find figuring out how to do video.
- 22:01SPEAKER_04: That's why I tell every client, I'm like, I'm gonna challenge you to do a video.
- 22:04SPEAKER_04: It will change your world for the human, for everyone to see you on video, no matter what you look like, no matter how you come across, you gotta start because it's powerful.
- 22:14SPEAKER_04: But other than that, show up the way that you naturally show up.
- 22:18SPEAKER_04: If that means you're better on video doing these kinds of conversations like we're having, you figure out how you can best show up on video and we'll figure that out.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: Awesome.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: Okay, so now I'm I'm rethinking my own strategy.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: No, it's a great answer.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: And this is why podcasting is so awesome.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: I mean, if you had to type that out in a comment, you know, you you would have like barely skimmed the surface.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: Podcasting is so awesome because you can really give context.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: And I'm kind of rethinking my own strategy because I've been really like um, you know, posting, like share this podcast episode, like do you know, do this, do a graphic here, maybe do a video, and it's just been push, push, push.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: Um, I do comment, but not nearly as intentionally as I'm about to.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: Um, because that's really good.
- 23:03SPEAKER_01: So, okay, you've been commenting, you've been you've been actually consuming their content, you've been making thoughtful responses, not just great post bullshit, but thoughtful stuff.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: And you know that works on all platforms.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: That's not just a LinkedIn thing, like it does.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's important.
- 23:19SPEAKER_03: But but it really shows up in the news feed in LinkedIn.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: That's so cool.
- 23:23SPEAKER_03: That is different, a little different.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: So you get their attention and you're getting a bunch of reach.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: People are seeing your thoughtful comments.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: Now they go to your profile.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: What could what what should real estate agents be doing to have their profile on point?
- 23:37SPEAKER_04: Oh my gosh, I love this question.
- 23:39SPEAKER_04: So I always think of a profile as above the fold.
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: So when you land on anyone's profile, it's just like landing on their website or landing on um your face, anywhere you land on social media, anywhere, it's always that banner, what that person says in their bio.
- 24:00SPEAKER_04: And we're not gonna scroll any further.
- 24:02SPEAKER_04: If you, if we land on Instagram and we see all of that and we are not that impressed, we're not gonna go down into all of your squares and your newsfeed.
- 24:10SPEAKER_04: We're not gonna consume your story.
- 24:12SPEAKER_04: So you've got to get us on that first landing moment to get us to go to the next step, which is to look at your posts, look at anything else, just look anywhere else on LinkedIn.
- 24:22SPEAKER_04: And I'm switching between Instagram because it works across all platforms, getting that initial impression and above the fold.
- 24:29SPEAKER_04: They're not gonna go any further.
- 24:31SPEAKER_04: That's what I mean by above the fold.
- 24:33SPEAKER_04: So that above the fold, a lot of real estate agents, and this just happens to be something I see.
- 24:38SPEAKER_04: I feel like it's like eight out of 10 times, they've put an image of the city in their banner.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 24:44SPEAKER_04: It's the skyline.
- 24:45SPEAKER_04: And there's nothing technically wrong with that, but that's not going, it's like being given the uh the pictures worth a thousand words, and you're like only using like 10 of those words.
- 24:58SPEAKER_01: So it's it's real estate.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: Like that's it's a billboard that people are gonna see as soon as they click your profile.
- 25:04SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: I have the city on mine until I want to say six months ago, nine months ago.
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: Yes, and it's so much.
- 25:11SPEAKER_04: Have you seen a big difference from changing it from the city to what it is now?
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: Um, yes.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know if that was the reason, but uh I don't really track every little thing.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: Uh probably should, but I've noticed uh a lot of traction coming from LinkedIn.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: And and it was around the time that I changed that.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: But was that change the the result or the uh you know, did that cause me to get new speaking opportunities and stuff?
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: Maybe, but at least people know what the hell I do when they first land there.
- 25:45SPEAKER_04: Yes, and you've also positioned yourself with a lot of social proof because you've included all of the speaking engagement logos, titles, has spoken at, and we see that you do the massive agent podcast, you've got Housing Wire on there, you've got like a ton of immediate social proof that I don't even have to truly kind of even know what you do, other than to know that you're in demand.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 26:12SPEAKER_04: And psychologically, that is way more powerful than the city skyline.
- 26:16SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 26:17SPEAKER_04: And we see you on stage with a mic right here on your shirt, your massive agent on your shirt right there.
- 26:24SPEAKER_04: And it just looks so it's so branded now.
- 26:26SPEAKER_04: Like now I know it's you, I've landed on your profile, and it has a picture of you speaking.
- 26:32SPEAKER_04: So, same thing with Chelsea Pites, who is the one that connected us.
- 26:35SPEAKER_04: She also has a lot of um stage logos because a lot of the conferences we go to have some type of logo, some type of branding.
- 26:46SPEAKER_04: And if you can merge that together, show yourself on stage, you will get more speaking engagements.
- 26:52SPEAKER_04: We want to put people who have been seen on other places, we want to put them on more stages because there's social proof there.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I think it was a LinkedIn article that you did.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: I I'm pretty sure it was yours.
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: It went to half a million people.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: Where it was it was all about how to do a great cover photo, and you show different examples.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: And I literally just took the one that I thought would work best for me and I copied it.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: I'm like, that is so.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: I'll put me over on the right.
- 27:19SPEAKER_04: I'll just do a roundup because that's that article has now shown it's been put into two LinkedIn learning courses.
- 27:26SPEAKER_04: It's been featured in a bunch of different publications all over socials.
- 27:32SPEAKER_04: I mean, I think uh social media marketing world has now highlighted on their social media examiner.
- 27:38SPEAKER_04: It has just gone like this.
- 27:40SPEAKER_04: And the power of that is also I learned how to make everything live on.
- 27:45SPEAKER_04: So that article is probably let's see how many years ago it is.
- 27:50SPEAKER_04: Almost almost two years ago now, but it still drives business to this day.
- 27:54SPEAKER_04: I would say it's driving anywhere from I don't know, 20 to 30k business per year.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: And you're probably still getting comments on it, I assume.
- 28:03SPEAKER_04: Tons still comments.
- 28:05SPEAKER_04: I still have people saying, How can I work with you?
- 28:07SPEAKER_04: How can I hire you?
- 28:08SPEAKER_04: Because if you know how to do one thing, we assume you know how to do more than one thing.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 28:14SPEAKER_04: And that's the trait transfer of expertise.
- 28:19SPEAKER_04: So that's why too many people think I need to show up as an expert on all of these things.
- 28:24SPEAKER_04: And I tell my clients, let's pick two or three pillars for you to be an expert, because we will do this natural thing in our brain that we assume if you can do one thing really well, we assume you can do more than one thing really well.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: Yes, great point.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: So for the average real estate agent who's who's listening and they're like, okay, so do I put photos of my listings or like, you know, I don't have you know, most people listening, they're not trying to get speaking gigs, they're not trying to do that, they're trying to get listings and work with buyers.
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: So um I would think I mean the same concepts apply.
- 28:59SPEAKER_01: Social proof.
- 29:00SPEAKER_01: If you were ever nominated for an award, put the award logo there.
- 29:04SPEAKER_01: Um, if you were featured in this list of you know top 20 agents on social media, boom, put that in there.
- 29:11SPEAKER_04: Like you agree.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: Your brokerage logo, your your team logo, um, whatever it is.
- 29:17SPEAKER_04: Barry Wolf has a really great example because he still the commercial guy, commercial real estate agent.
- 29:22SPEAKER_04: For real estate, but it could work for residential.
- 29:25SPEAKER_04: It's just he puts some images together that was all commercial, which again just flip the concept and make it houses, make it residential.
- 29:34SPEAKER_04: And then he has a simple um his email, his uh company page, his personal hashtag that he's growing.
- 29:43SPEAKER_04: And he literally tells you at the top, from the top down, you know, he does commercial real estate.
- 29:48SPEAKER_04: There's no question, there's no ambiguity, and he's not necessarily trying to grow speaking engagements.
- 29:54SPEAKER_04: He's not trying to position himself on stage in that cover image.
- 29:58SPEAKER_04: It is his commercial real estate properties.
- 30:00SPEAKER_04: It's kind of all merged together in a nice creative photo, but it is powerful.
- 30:05SPEAKER_04: And you can do the same thing with commercial.
- 30:07SPEAKER_04: You could have a few of your homes, you could have that classic picture of somebody standing out by the for sale sign.
- 30:14SPEAKER_04: Those are all powerful.
- 30:16SPEAKER_04: We make we take those pictures because they're powerful.
- 30:19SPEAKER_04: They tell a story without having to tell the whole story.
- 30:23SPEAKER_04: And if you merge those pictures with you either in the picture, standing by your own sign out front of a home, we want to know that we're we're seeing you.
- 30:32SPEAKER_04: And it's not always about your clients at that point.
- 30:35SPEAKER_04: We don't need a picture of them standing in front of the home.
- 30:37SPEAKER_04: I'd be more impressed that you are proud that you've got a sign now in somebody's front yard.
- 30:42SPEAKER_04: And then you can have as part of your content stories about your clients, advice you have for your clients, those types of things.
- 30:49SPEAKER_04: But yeah, from the top down, it'd be so much more powerful than the city skyline.
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: Guys, if you're if you're like a Zillow All-Star or you're a even if you're a zero Zillow premiere agent or anything that has a badge or a logo, throw that on there.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: Consumers don't, they're not going to be like, well, he paid for that premier agent, uh, agent membership.
- 31:11SPEAKER_01: Well, okay, you know, that's more exposure for their property, by the way.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: So they don't know.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: It's it's social proof.
- 31:17SPEAKER_01: When people see logos lined up like that, they think credibility and because I do, I'm a cynical marketer.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: And when I see on a website, you know, as seen on Wall Street Journal, you know, blah, blah, blah, CNBC, uh wow, okay, this must be legit.
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: It's that's just the effect.
- 31:34SPEAKER_04: They could have hired a PR person, they could have uh entered into something that paid for that um announcement.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of press release on Market Watch and they would throw the Market Watch logo on there.
- 31:46SPEAKER_04: I mean, and that's totally fine.
- 31:47SPEAKER_04: I think at the end of the day, if you are a great agent and you serve your clients, you shouldn't be afraid of what your peers think at this point.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 31:57SPEAKER_04: Be more concerned with you positioning yourself so you can help more people to get your amazing work in front of more clients because that's really what it's all about.
- 32:07SPEAKER_04: You'll impact their lives, you'll change their lives with the experience they have with you, buying and selling property.
- 32:13SPEAKER_04: I mean, I know from my own buying and selling property experiences, I want people I trust.
- 32:18SPEAKER_04: And if you really are one of those people, I want you to be visible.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: Yes, yep, credible and friendly, likable, trustworthy, all of the above.
- 32:27SPEAKER_01: Like it's all it's all kind of the the same, it's all the same package.
- 32:31SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: And it's funny you mentioned Barry Wolf because I don't know him, never met him.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: I just see him literally everywhere on LinkedIn.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: And so when you said his name, oh really?
- 32:40SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: Well, you've done a very good job then because uh I'd say he's one of the top two uh most visible CRE agents.
- 32:51SPEAKER_04: Uh Reza have all been my clients.
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: So look at that.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: I don't know Chris, but I I I certainly know Beth or know of Beth and Barry.
- 32:59SPEAKER_01: That's awesome.
- 32:59SPEAKER_04: Yes, we all did a group coaching together, and it was all real estate agents because that's what Chelsea was very early on in my LinkedIn Business Accelerator, and she said, Look, I just want to grab a bunch of real estate agents and all do a big group together.
- 33:14SPEAKER_04: And you know how Chelsea is, she will gather everyone and tell everyone, do this.
- 33:19SPEAKER_04: So she did.
- 33:20SPEAKER_04: And it's worked out.
- 33:21SPEAKER_04: I mean, everyone that's gone through that particular round, it was all agents, all real estate.
- 33:26SPEAKER_04: It was either commercial or residential, and it was amazing.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: And okay, so rather than waiting till the end where where you can tell people how to find you, do you still do those?
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: Or you know, if if does anyone listening, they're like, How do I get into these boot camps?
- 33:41SPEAKER_04: Yes, if you want to gather, um, I know I'm working, I don't know if I'm allowed to say all these people I'm working with now, but um you can say whatever you want on this show.
- 33:50SPEAKER_04: Saber group is it JC Ano?
- 33:53SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 33:54SPEAKER_04: So they are just starting this week.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: Awesome.
- 33:57SPEAKER_04: So I'm really excited to be working with them.
- 33:59SPEAKER_04: And they just collected their personal group that they wanted to do.
- 34:02SPEAKER_04: So yes, it's like just like anything in life.
- 34:04SPEAKER_04: If you want to gather your people and say we're gonna do this together and we're gonna be a group, it's you know, nice to just I have a standard package and I say, here you go.
- 34:14SPEAKER_01: That's cool.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: And I know Jason through Chelsea, actually.
- 34:17SPEAKER_04: Yep, that's how I know Jason too.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, great guy, huge company.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: I mean, the the guy represents Starbucks and Chipotle exclusively in New York.
- 34:27SPEAKER_04: That's exciting.
- 34:28SPEAKER_01: Like that's yeah, that they do some big stuff.
- 34:30SPEAKER_04: And they're already doing amazing on LinkedIn.
- 34:32SPEAKER_04: I just there's certain things that we don't realize we're doing that will build even more trust.
- 34:37SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's like taking into the next level where, okay, I've got a lot of clients that come in and they start with 200 views, 500 views.
- 34:46SPEAKER_04: Maybe they've gotten up to a couple, 10,000 viewed posts.
- 34:50SPEAKER_04: But I'm here to get you to be consistently 10K views and above.
- 34:54SPEAKER_04: Like you will be driving a lot of visibility.
- 34:57SPEAKER_01: Well, I need to get myself into your business accelerator thing too, because uh LinkedIn has just been so, so, so powerful for me.
- 35:05SPEAKER_01: And but it's been different.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: So most people listening, they're trying to reach consumers in their local markets.
- 35:11SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to reach other real estate industry professionals, but it's not that LinkedIn doesn't work locally for consumers, it's just you have to, you know, know who you're speaking to and what they what they care about.
- 35:24SPEAKER_04: Um, and sometimes you can use, and this is a tip for anyone trying to get into a local visibility space, use a local hashtag.
- 35:34SPEAKER_04: So I live in Richmond, Virginia.
- 35:35SPEAKER_04: Hashtag R V A is kind of a local one.
- 35:38SPEAKER_04: Now, does that mean I'm going to get a ton of eyeballs on that hashtag?
- 35:43SPEAKER_04: Probably not.
- 35:44SPEAKER_04: Um, I think there's only like a hundred, maybe two hundred people following that hashtag.
- 35:48SPEAKER_04: But the reason why it's powerful, and I had a post go to 50,000 people in my local area because if you can get those early 100 or 200 in your local area to see your post, and it is a good post and it's something that could go viral, that will get local visibility because you don't, their audience sees your post.
- 36:10SPEAKER_04: Does that make sense?
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 36:12SPEAKER_04: And you have a call to action that says tag anyone here in the Richmond, Virginia area.
- 36:18SPEAKER_04: And then people start tagging people that are located in your local area.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: Smart.
- 36:23SPEAKER_04: So you there's many ways to really kind of work around this idea where so many people just think it's like, well, I don't know.
- 36:31SPEAKER_04: I I just throwing up the cards in the air and saying, I don't know how to do this.
- 36:35SPEAKER_04: Like, how do I get local visibility?
- 36:37SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, I'll show you.
- 36:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:39SPEAKER_04: Let's get let's get this to be visible on a local level.
- 36:42SPEAKER_01: So commenting on local stuff that local people would be interested in, obviously, the good place to start.
- 36:51SPEAKER_04: Because if they're, like I said, if they're early commenters, if you've grown a close knit network that is that is local, you will get more local visibility because their networks are going to see your stuff.
- 37:02SPEAKER_01: What type of content have you seen real estate agents doing that's been working well at a local level?
- 37:09SPEAKER_04: So I will say that people like the Barry and Beth, they are not they're creating content, which by the way, I love their content because I did help them and work with them.
- 37:21SPEAKER_04: So, like Barry had a viral post the other day, and it's because he uploaded a video, but he gave his perception of what he thought was happening.
- 37:31SPEAKER_04: He's always coming from a place of leadership, like thought leadership.
- 37:34SPEAKER_04: And that's what I coach because you can really upload anything.
- 37:38SPEAKER_04: You can upload your um picture of a property as long as it goes along with some type of story.
- 37:45SPEAKER_04: Like you could say something like, This was a tough piece of property to, I don't know what the word is, but uh to move, I don't know, to sell.
- 37:55SPEAKER_04: To sell to get yeah, to sell.
- 37:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:57SPEAKER_04: And be real about it and give us the five ways that you had to get creative to get this piece of property to sell.
- 38:04SPEAKER_04: And people love lists, don't they?
- 38:06SPEAKER_04: They freaking love lists.
- 38:08SPEAKER_04: Everyone wants, and I think too many people are trying to tell the whole story, and you can just tell a piece of a micro story.
- 38:16SPEAKER_04: A micro story is, for example, how did a piece of property, if there's ever before and after for a front yard uh curb appeal?
- 38:27SPEAKER_04: I am positive.
- 38:28SPEAKER_04: You have many clients.
- 38:29SPEAKER_04: I even had one client that said, here is a fridge before and here's a fridge after.
- 38:35SPEAKER_04: Just what does it look like to take all the magnets off and make the kitchen look a little bit nicer?
- 38:39SPEAKER_04: And all they did was change how many magnets were on the front of the fridge.
- 38:43SPEAKER_04: That's the only difference between the two photos.
- 38:45SPEAKER_04: People love that stuff.
- 38:46SPEAKER_04: And but it comes with a story.
- 38:48SPEAKER_04: Why does this matter?
- 38:50SPEAKER_04: And you know, how important is it?
- 38:53SPEAKER_04: And we want to know those extra things and you can inspire your peers.
- 38:57SPEAKER_04: And while you're also inspiring your peers, you attract your clients.
- 39:02SPEAKER_04: So sometimes even having peer-to-peer type of content where you know this is actual content that could level up another agent, you end up becoming seen as the expert in your space for your clients that are watching you.
- 39:15SPEAKER_04: They may never like and comment, but they'll hire you without ever liking and commenting.
- 39:20SPEAKER_01: Yep, that's how it works.
- 39:21SPEAKER_01: People are watching.
- 39:22SPEAKER_01: People see what you put out there and how you say it, what you say, and the way you all of that.
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: Um, it and something that I've that I really believe in, if you are because I used to do this.
- 39:34SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, I'm an agent in Salt Lake City, so literally everything needs to be about Salt Lake City.
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: Uh no, I mean it it's nice to focus your content on that.
- 39:44SPEAKER_01: So you're obviously the Salt Lake agent, but if you have stuff that other professionals in the industry would be interested in, now you have the you're growing this huge network, which by the way, the sellers want because you're like, hey, I have this huge network of other agents we can get some out-of-town buyers.
- 40:00SPEAKER_01: They all love out-of-town buyers.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: I don't know why.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: They're like, We'd love to get an out-of-town buyer because they think they're just gonna pay a bunch more.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: But so that shows, hey, you're a professional, you have this huge network, you're not just the average agent, but also other agents can refer business to you if they know who you are.
- 40:17SPEAKER_01: And that's happened, that happened to me when I started just talking about marketing stuff and what I was doing locally.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: So don't be so rigid on local, uh, locally focused content, but uh, you know, don't be scared to just focus on local.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: Just just make sure it's not boring.
- 40:34SPEAKER_01: Judy, I think that's the biggest mistake I see people doing is they're like, I'm gonna post this link to my listing, which has the front of the home, which is very average and boring, and they call it a day.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: Doesn't work, and then they say LinkedIn doesn't work or Facebook doesn't work.
- 40:50SPEAKER_01: Um, it's because you're posting boring shit.
- 40:52SPEAKER_01: So stop it.
- 40:53SPEAKER_04: So I would say the fastest thing to say that LinkedIn has a we energy.
- 40:59SPEAKER_04: We are here to all level up each other.
- 41:02SPEAKER_04: It's a very collective vibe, it's a with energy, and Facebook has a bit of a look at me energy, see what I'm doing, and I will post about my listing and I will I will post my family, look at us, look at me.
- 41:18SPEAKER_01: It's a lot of humble bragging going on on Facebook, that's for sure.
- 41:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 41:21SPEAKER_04: And I would say the moment you come over to LinkedIn, the more you can have a bit of a we and be that collaborative, you know, take a ego pill, like swallow some type of pill that kind of like makes it less afraid that the content you're gonna be giving is gonna level up another agent.
- 41:40SPEAKER_04: Because if you can do that, I just hands down, anytime you share something, nobody can ever truly replicate another person's recipe for success.
- 41:52SPEAKER_04: We think we're giving it all away, but no other human being can be truly you.
- 41:57SPEAKER_04: The way you show up on site, the way you talk with your clients throughout the entire process.
- 42:04SPEAKER_04: I mean, nobody can ever be you.
- 42:05SPEAKER_04: Nobody can ever get the recommendations you get, the referrals you get, nobody can be you.
- 42:09SPEAKER_04: So all that micro content of you giving some of your gold away, where you're like, whoa, this is a golden tip for how I handle this situation.
- 42:19SPEAKER_04: And like, say it's a um, I don't know, an appraisal situation that there's this golden tip that you have about what to do in a tough situation.
- 42:27SPEAKER_04: And you give it away, that will come back a hundred times it over on LinkedIn because so many people like I like you both, like we're both saying, people are watching and people assume that if you're able to level up another Asian or speak from that authority and come from that space, there's so much impressiveness with that.
- 42:49SPEAKER_04: And they're like, oh yeah, can I how can I get you on my podcast?
- 42:53SPEAKER_04: How can I highlight you in the next uh local paper about movers and shakers in the local world that we live in, whatever magazine you have going on, people want to highlight those kinds of people.
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: Okay, so we had a little technical issue with Zoom.
- 43:11SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna blame Zoom, so it's not it's not either one of us.
- 43:15SPEAKER_03: No, it was Zoom.
- 43:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:17SPEAKER_01: Uh man, this it's it's unbelievable how often stuff like that happens.
- 43:23SPEAKER_01: And I really, you know, I could just edit this out, but I I've talked about this before.
- 43:29SPEAKER_01: When you have mistakes, when you lose your train of thought, you get tongue-tied, you you know, your kid runs in, those moments are actually memorable and relatable.
- 43:40SPEAKER_01: And so relatable.
- 43:42SPEAKER_01: They are because everyone deals with this crap.
- 43:44SPEAKER_01: And so um, you know, not gonna edit it out.
- 43:47SPEAKER_04: Uh and I was just saying that I have a podcast episode that I was in the I had recorded so many intros and I was done.
- 43:56SPEAKER_04: I like somehow could not get this intro recorded.
- 43:59SPEAKER_04: It was After the fact.
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: So the person was not on the thing.
- 44:02SPEAKER_04: But I was like, I literally, before I recorded this last intro, I said, That's it.
- 44:06SPEAKER_04: So last time I'm recording this, it will be whatever it is.
- 44:09SPEAKER_04: And I'm in the middle of recording it, and my buzzer for the chicken nuggets goes off.
- 44:13SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Done.
- 44:14SPEAKER_04: You're gonna hear chicken nuggets coming out of the oven while I'm recording this intro.
- 44:18SPEAKER_04: And some people, I would say nine out of 10 people loved it.
- 44:22SPEAKER_04: And one random person was like, That's not that professional.
- 44:25SPEAKER_04: So who cares?
- 44:27SPEAKER_04: I needed to get my chicken nuggets for my kid out of the oven, and I refuse to re-record.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: Well, and they so they're like, that's not professional.
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: But what just happened?
- 44:37SPEAKER_01: They they actually stopped what they were doing and took time to message you so you were top of mind that whole time to tell you that that wasn't professional.
- 44:46SPEAKER_01: Well, they're not gonna forget that.
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: You know, that that's not a bad thing.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: So and we all love blooper reels, anyways.
- 44:53SPEAKER_04: Yes, so that is episode six of I'm just getting the Jimmy Fox show.
- 44:59SPEAKER_04: And you need to hear chicken nuggets coming out of the oven.
- 45:02SPEAKER_01: I might actually have to go search that.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: That sounds funny.
- 45:04SPEAKER_04: It's with Rachel Bell, and I will always speak so highly of Rachel Bell because she's an Instagram and she's a coach, and then now I'm highlighting somebody else.
- 45:12SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna like sell everybody else on this podcast.
- 45:15SPEAKER_04: But she's just there's so many amazing people.
- 45:18SPEAKER_04: The the goal of me talking about Rachel right now is literally the fact of the matter that we do not know who anyone ever knows.
- 45:26SPEAKER_04: Number one.
- 45:27SPEAKER_04: And number two, staying in our lane and thinking I only need to attract these specific people doesn't allow you to expand the world of people are way more than a title.
- 45:38SPEAKER_04: They're way more than they're relocating to Salt Lake City, like the example you were sharing.
- 45:44SPEAKER_04: They know people, people from high school, people they knew each other from college.
- 45:48SPEAKER_04: You never know whose roommate's with somebody else's roommate.
- 45:52SPEAKER_04: It's this amazing world that I truly believe the even the older you get and you're in your 40s and 50s.
- 45:58SPEAKER_04: Can you imagine looking back how many interactions this global world people have had with each other?
- 46:04SPEAKER_04: So I've had amazing experiences just from being open.
- 46:08SPEAKER_04: So Rachel Bell is one of those experiences.
- 46:10SPEAKER_04: I ended up working with her, but she has impacted my mindset.
- 46:14SPEAKER_04: Like there's a lot of things I've learned from just watching her, and it's been incredible.
- 46:19SPEAKER_04: And she's not in my lane, if that makes sense.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: So networking is, you know, it's kind of what got you started with with joining LinkedIn is to network.
- 46:30SPEAKER_01: And I think as we get into, you know, into the motions of being a real estate agent, being a loan officer, doing doing whatever we do, we forget the importance of networking, or we mistake all this amazing technology that we have as replacing networking.
- 46:47SPEAKER_01: But LinkedIn is one of the best places to network that I've ever seen.
- 46:51SPEAKER_01: And it's happened.
- 46:53SPEAKER_01: I've gotten a lot of great results in a fairly short period of time from LinkedIn.
- 46:59SPEAKER_01: And I realize holy crap, like I'm just networking by using this tool in this certain way.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: It's just a new way of doing it.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: And so uh, I appreciate you sharing how important commenting is.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: Um, I want to talk a little bit more about the content itself because you know, once you get someone to your profile, you get their attention with a great comment, you know.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: Um what you mentioned an appraisal right before Zoom crept out.
- 47:24SPEAKER_04: Um Well, I know what I want to say about um the best way that real estate agents, one of the like top areas that they have to put some of their most available properties or their testimonials.
- 47:37SPEAKER_04: I will show you exactly it is in the featured section.
- 47:41SPEAKER_04: So again, I'm gonna put Barry and Beth, like the people we've already been mentioning, but Barry Wolf has I keep talking about him.
- 47:49SPEAKER_04: He's gonna be like, How is all this traffic coming over to my profile?
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 47:53SPEAKER_04: But he has his available, he literally, I told him I was like, you have to make a featured link to your available properties.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: That is key.
- 48:02SPEAKER_04: So when you go to his profile and you scroll down to these this featured section and it is above the fold, it literally says available properties.
- 48:11SPEAKER_04: And before his before picture that I took, he just had some videos of his properties, which is nice, but that wasn't selling all of his available properties.
- 48:21SPEAKER_04: And I said, let's do let's make your profile work better for you longer term and just make a link to your website that goes straight to the available properties you have open.
- 48:32SPEAKER_00: Nice, nice.
- 48:33SPEAKER_04: So then he has a tab, his other tab is his testimonials.
- 48:38SPEAKER_04: People want to work with people that have testimonials, and instead of having to scroll all the way down LinkedIn to get to the recommendations part of LinkedIn, it's right up there above the fold.
- 48:48SPEAKER_04: I love putting it above, and then you can click and go to his website, and that will take you straight to the testimonials.
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: So in this featured section, you really need to be intentional about what you want people to see, and or at the same time, what do they want to see?
- 49:07SPEAKER_01: And hopefully you've created content for that.
- 49:09SPEAKER_01: So that could be a link to a YouTube video.
- 49:11SPEAKER_01: Yes, it could be an article you've written on your website, your testimonials page about you, I mean whatever.
- 49:17SPEAKER_04: But so I have a link to a YouTube video that's on video influencers with Sean Canal and Benji Travis, who I think they're well above 500,000 subscribers on YouTube.
- 49:27SPEAKER_04: And since they put it out on their channel, I was like, Well, yeah, I'm gonna link to this video on YouTube, and it has driven a ton of traffic, so it's powerful.
- 49:37SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 49:38SPEAKER_01: LinkedIn just has all these cool spots that you may glance over um and not utilize, but uh I hope that people are starting to think of their LinkedIn profile as a website, you know.
- 49:51SPEAKER_01: People you want you want to get people there.
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: Once they're there, what do they see?
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: What do they know what you do?
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: Do they think you're credible?
- 49:59SPEAKER_01: Are you likable?
- 50:00SPEAKER_01: Do you have a personality?
- 50:02SPEAKER_01: Uh I just uh I want to caution people do not underestimate LinkedIn.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: I've been saying this for well over a year.
- 50:10SPEAKER_01: Stop underestimating LinkedIn.
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: It's so powerful.
- 50:12SPEAKER_01: I don't care what you do for a living, it doesn't matter if you use it the right way, it can it can absolutely become your favorite platform.
- 50:20SPEAKER_01: And it's become one of my favorites because of that.
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: Uh and I still have a lot of optimizing to do on it.
- 50:29SPEAKER_04: The thing is, I had a coach at one point who literally said, what you focus on will expand.
- 50:34SPEAKER_04: So if you focus on the things you do not like about LinkedIn, that's all you're gonna see.
- 50:39SPEAKER_04: It's the equivalent of when you are searching and you're looking for a car, you end up seeing that car everywhere all of a sudden.
- 50:46SPEAKER_04: And I guess there's a very fancy name for that, and I can't remember it off the top of my head.
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: It's too fancy for me, me too.
- 50:53SPEAKER_04: But you see what you are what you're looking for.
- 50:56SPEAKER_04: If you're looking for red things today, you will go out and see more people wearing red.
- 51:01SPEAKER_04: You'll be looking for it.
- 51:02SPEAKER_04: So the same thing on LinkedIn.
- 51:04SPEAKER_04: If you think to yourself, my direct messages are annoying.
- 51:09SPEAKER_04: Um, I don't like how people pitch on there and they sell you right away.
- 51:12SPEAKER_04: Well, then you're just focusing on the parts that are technically annoying, but they happen to me, those same activities happen to me on Facebook, and I find them annoying on Facebook.
- 51:22SPEAKER_04: So I don't know.
- 51:24SPEAKER_04: I don't see them that much different on any platform.
- 51:27SPEAKER_04: It's just that I've chosen to not focus on them on LinkedIn.
- 51:30SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 51:30SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 51:31SPEAKER_01: If if people don't want to like a platform, they're gonna find reasons not to.
- 51:35SPEAKER_01: And I did that for a very long time.
- 51:37SPEAKER_01: And but LinkedIn was different, you know, it's not nearly as social, it wasn't nearly as social back then as it is now.
- 51:43SPEAKER_04: It's much more social now.
- 51:45SPEAKER_01: It really is.
- 51:46SPEAKER_01: It's uh it's incredible.
- 51:48SPEAKER_04: And people really truly the ones that have a limiting belief about LinkedIn and how it used to be.
- 51:54SPEAKER_04: So, yes, LinkedIn did want you in the past to connect with people that you know.
- 51:59SPEAKER_04: That's what was kind of the selling point of LinkedIn.
- 52:03SPEAKER_04: But now I think people don't realize we don't connect social proof anymore with just because you know somebody.
- 52:09SPEAKER_04: That's not the way of the world anymore.
- 52:11SPEAKER_04: That may have been the way of the world 20 years ago, that who you knew really meant you knew them.
- 52:18SPEAKER_04: But with a global world, a global economy, that is not with Instagram, with with all the ways that we can find somebody on in this world.
- 52:29SPEAKER_04: I can't even imagine what my life would have looked like if I got introduced and somebody said, and I was like, uh, Chelsea, Chelsea Pites, I don't know her, so I'm not gonna connect with her.
- 52:39SPEAKER_04: That's insane to me now.
- 52:41SPEAKER_04: Because of course I'm gonna be an open networker on LinkedIn because there is nothing on LinkedIn that they're going to find out about me that I probably don't have anywhere that they can find it on social media in today's age.
- 52:53SPEAKER_04: Do you see what I mean?
- 52:54SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 52:56SPEAKER_04: So there's no fear anymore.
- 52:58SPEAKER_04: Like if they wanted to get my email, they're getting my email somehow.
- 53:01SPEAKER_04: If they wanted to get, I mean, you can try to make things as private as possible.
- 53:05SPEAKER_04: You can get things that PO boxes and try to get as private to your world.
- 53:12SPEAKER_04: But at the end of the day, this world is a lot more harder to hide online, if that makes sense.
- 53:19SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 53:20SPEAKER_01: Well, so I'm glad you mentioned that because it's it's so funny to me how I'll have someone, they're like, Oh, Instagram is not really working for me, and I go look at their profile and it's freaking private.
- 53:31SPEAKER_01: Well, interesting.
- 53:32SPEAKER_01: So you have it private, but then you want a bunch of people to see it.
- 53:36SPEAKER_01: So if they're not connected to you, how does that ever happen?
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: And you know, do you want people, do you want to grow your network?
- 53:42SPEAKER_01: Do you want to grow your reach?
- 53:43SPEAKER_01: Do you want to grow your influence or not?
- 53:46SPEAKER_01: And then just pick one.
- 53:47SPEAKER_01: You know, you can't do both.
- 53:49SPEAKER_01: It's I don't know, it's it's so weird.
- 53:52SPEAKER_04: So I will share a bit of a personal story because I went through a situation where um, you know, when you how do I say this without I've not shared this as much on many podcasts, but and I now we're getting near the end and I'm gonna share something super personal, but basically I didn't want to put my voice out there.
- 54:12SPEAKER_04: I did not want to be visible because I went through a separation and I knew that whatever I put on social media could be used against me, either in court or in uh any type of custody situation.
- 54:27SPEAKER_04: I mean, I think there's a many reasons for worrying that what you say on social media, you should be careful.
- 54:33SPEAKER_04: I mean, we're seeing cancel culture.
- 54:35SPEAKER_04: We're seeing, I mean, I know I can expand this just beyond what I've been through.
- 54:39SPEAKER_04: Think about all the people who are posting on social media and they're saying something controversial and it's being either brought up from 10 years ago and it never goes away.
- 54:48SPEAKER_04: And right should so at all times you should be careful.
- 54:52SPEAKER_04: But the point I'm trying to make is the reason I chose LinkedIn personally and I started putting my voice out there is because in my head, LinkedIn is a such a platform that if somebody tries to say, well, they posted this on LinkedIn, it's like that's pretty professional.
- 55:10SPEAKER_04: Like, how can you use that against somebody?
- 55:13SPEAKER_04: As long as you stay leadership, you stay professional, you don't say anything inappropriate.
- 55:18SPEAKER_04: I guess I felt like, you know what, how is somebody going to pull something from 10 years ago and say she posted this on LinkedIn?
- 55:24SPEAKER_04: Like, I felt like the checks and balances that are there for LinkedIn help keep that way more professional than the Facebooks, the Instagram, the Twitter, where you might say something off the cuff and regret it.
- 55:38SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 55:39SPEAKER_04: I felt like LinkedIn had enough of a gate check point that made me feel like I wasn't ever gonna worry about saying something off the cuff and regretting it.
- 55:46SPEAKER_04: Does that help explain?
- 55:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 55:49SPEAKER_01: So it and it reminded me of my mindset when I hated LinkedIn, because one of the things that I hated was, oh, it's too stuffy, it's too professional.
- 55:58SPEAKER_01: But now it's one of the things I love most.
- 56:00SPEAKER_01: It's not too stuffy anymore.
- 56:01SPEAKER_01: It's gotten much more well, it's all about who you who you associate with, of course, but it's become more laid back, more personality, but I don't see a lot of negative stuff.
- 56:12SPEAKER_01: I don't see a lot of people attacking each other.
- 56:15SPEAKER_01: Um, it's very, I don't know, it's almost like a sanctuary, uh, you know, from from the the cesspools that are Twitter and Facebook, for God's sakes.
- 56:26SPEAKER_01: Uh LinkedIn just doesn't have that.
- 56:34SPEAKER_04: You can have serious business conversations and still say, how's your weekend?
- 56:39SPEAKER_04: Or oh my gosh, let's celebrate.
- 56:41SPEAKER_04: You just got engaged.
- 56:42SPEAKER_04: And I think those posts belong on LinkedIn.
- 56:44SPEAKER_04: Your full life belongs on LinkedIn, but it's more a matter of the same way you would talk about it in a somewhat corporate or business setting.
- 56:53SPEAKER_04: So I wouldn't let down all of my guard and put like really raw, raw.
- 56:59SPEAKER_04: But I mean, I saw a woman post recently where she said, Hey, I want to explain why I kept my LinkedIn profile on private.
- 57:08SPEAKER_04: And her post got over 23,000 likes, and it was just like two days ago.
- 57:14SPEAKER_04: And the reason why is because she said she didn't, she had a boss one time tell her that the way she looked was so unattractive that she was afraid of putting her profile picture up on LinkedIn because she had people.
- 57:26SPEAKER_04: So she's just had one boss that impacted her and she shared that story.
- 57:31SPEAKER_04: And the LinkedIn community completely enveloped her with love and said, We love your profile picture.
- 57:37SPEAKER_04: Like, please don't make it private.
- 57:38SPEAKER_04: It looks amazing.
- 57:40SPEAKER_04: Like that one person, the whole platform is there to outsine any negativity that can ever happen.
- 57:47SPEAKER_04: And that's what's beautiful about I think the world and about LinkedIn.
- 57:52SPEAKER_01: That's cool.
- 57:53SPEAKER_01: That's really cool.
- 57:54SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 57:54SPEAKER_04: So if you're afraid of social media in general, join LinkedIn.
- 57:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 57:58SPEAKER_04: That sounds really funny.
- 57:59SPEAKER_04: But even the CEO and Jeff just recently stepped down, but we have a new CEO of LinkedIn.
- 58:04SPEAKER_04: They um they've made it very clear they want you to connect with people you don't know.
- 58:08SPEAKER_04: That's not the the thing that holds you back anymore, should not be that you don't know somebody.
- 58:14SPEAKER_04: Obviously, don't recommend somebody you don't know.
- 58:16SPEAKER_04: Yes, but connect and be a little bit more open to connecting.
- 58:20SPEAKER_04: And I did get a message from LinkedIn saying they wanted the CEO is gonna see my LinkedIn Business Business Accelerator.
- 58:26SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 58:27SPEAKER_04: Really exciting.
- 58:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because I I'm coaching to the point that people are reaching out with the messages that I give them to send.
- 58:36SPEAKER_04: And now LinkedIn started to see the impact and the ripple into their own, they're like, How we're seeing your name come up everywhere.
- 58:45SPEAKER_01: Awesome.
- 58:45SPEAKER_04: So that got the attention of the CEO.
- 58:47SPEAKER_04: So that's congratulations.
- 58:49SPEAKER_01: That's cool.
- 58:49SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 58:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 58:51SPEAKER_01: Um, okay.
- 58:52SPEAKER_01: So speaking of connecting, uh connecting versus following.
- 58:56SPEAKER_01: Um, and this is a very specific question that I've always wondered.
- 58:59SPEAKER_01: If if you request to connect with somebody, if you click connect, uh does that automatically follow them?
- 59:06SPEAKER_01: Or uh because if they do not accept your connection, are you still following that person?
- 59:13SPEAKER_04: I think right now I have seen that when I click connect and they okay, so I click connect, I want to connect with them, and then they do accept, I am automatically following.
- 59:24SPEAKER_04: I'll do that iteration.
- 59:25SPEAKER_04: And then the next iteration, I click connect, they don't accept.
- 59:30SPEAKER_04: I haven't seen that I automatically get start following them.
- 59:34SPEAKER_04: So I on purpose have to make sure that I go click that I want to follow them.
- 59:39SPEAKER_04: So whether they connect with me or not, I've chosen to start following them.
- 59:44SPEAKER_04: So that way I don't risk if they don't accept my connection, I never see them again, kind of thing.
- 59:49SPEAKER_01: I think a great follow-up question would be what's the difference between a connection and a follow on LinkedIn then?
- 59:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 59:56SPEAKER_04: So again, the world has changed, especially with the growth of Instagram.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_04: The ability to follow people is a newer concept in general to LinkedIn because LinkedIn used to think that was for like Oprah or Richard Branson to be following them.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_04: But now you can follow anybody on LinkedIn.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_04: And it is very similar.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_04: It just means you're gonna see their content and they're gonna be more in your eye line versus if you don't follow them.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_04: That's really all that it means.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_04: It just means you're gonna see them in your newsfeed if you're following them.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_00: Gotcha.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_04: So the difference that I see on LinkedIn versus Instagram, and I'm gonna give you a behind the scenes what I don't see any downside to it.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_04: So because I don't believe that I have to scroll my newsfeed, and that's what I coach.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_04: I coach people on how to network without thinking the newsfeed owns your networking.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_04: You can be more strategic and smart versus just saying I have to go scroll my newsfeed.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_04: No, that's not networking.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_04: Scrolling your newsfeed is not networking.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_04: Um, but what I tell people is I honestly almost I follow almost every single person back.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_04: You follow me, I follow you right back.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_04: There's no limit to following.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_04: And so it's not like Instagram where I want to have my number of people I follow be zero or this whole follow unfollow.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_04: I hate that, by the way, guys.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_04: I have no idea who started that, but it's supposed to make you look more popular by having a bigger following number and less people that you're following.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_01: Uh that's funny because I haven't really thought about that in in a while, but you're absolutely right.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_01: Like I used to, when I was first starting with Instagram, I was like, well, doesn't that make you like a bigger deal if you have 10,000 people following you, but you only you've only followed 50 people back?
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_01: Or it's so stupid.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_01: It actually makes you look like that.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_04: They follow like zero.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it makes you look like a douche.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_04: It's like I get it, but I don't get it.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_04: So because I like thinking.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and I only just recently joined Instagram literally my I joined Instagram two years ago.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_04: So I was not on Instagram, my whole world is LinkedIn, LinkedIn 100% since 2008.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_04: And I never even looked at Instagram until two years ago.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_04: So when I finally did, I was like, what is this?
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_04: So on LinkedIn, because I was never I experience a whole different world on there.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_04: I follow back.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_04: If somebody follows me but they don't connect with me, sometimes I will go check them out and ask them to connect and say, Hey, I saw that you followed me.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_04: That's really nice and I appreciate it, but I'd also be happy to connect.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_04: Like I don't see any downside to connecting.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_01: Especially on LinkedIn, because that's the whole purpose was a networking platform.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_01: And you you don't network with people you already know, you network with people you don't know yet.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_04: And then you get to know people.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_04: Some of my best friends, Tabitha Kavanaugh, I love shouting her out because she's become one of my best friends.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_04: And I only just met her through networking on LinkedIn.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_04: So if I'd never opened up my mind to the possibility of meeting people I don't know, that's how we date nowadays.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_04: People date on social media and on these apps.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_04: So the world is different.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_04: And we just have to realize that and come to the conclusion that LinkedIn, start open networking.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_04: It's okay.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_04: They're not gonna get any information that you wouldn't have somewhere online that's out there.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_01: Judy, any any last words or anything that we haven't mentioned that you think would be very helpful or useful for real estate agents to know about when it comes to LinkedIn?
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_04: So what I love about, and I'm gonna bring up Barry again.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_04: He's like such a great example.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_04: Just having your own personal hashtag is powerful on LinkedIn.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_04: So I think of it as at the beginning, before you have a following of your own personal hashtag, just think of it as a file folder, a place that if you go into LinkedIn up in the search bar, you type in hashtag, the hashtag symbol, FoxRocks, R it's F-O-X-R-O-C-K-S.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_04: It will show you all of my posts without having to navigate anywhere else on LinkedIn.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_04: You can just go do that, you can click follow, and you will see my next post that I post with my own hashtag.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_04: Smart.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_04: That way you stay at the top of the news feed.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_04: They're following your hashtag.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_04: It's not always about having a huge following of that hashtag.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_04: I think I'm at around 350 followers, but that's 350 first hour of having my post up that see my post and make fast action with likes and comments.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_04: And that's how you get a ton more visibility faster.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_01: I didn't even realize I was doing it, but yeah.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_04: Barry has hashtag NetLeastPro and he's getting because he's grown that, and I have a strategy for how to grow it.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_04: Um, and I have one of my clients who has hit a million views in 90 days because he grew his personal hashtag to over 3,000 followers.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_04: So it's a powerful strategy to get at the top of the news feed.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_04: Whenever they open up their newsfeed, you're at the top.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm gonna have to go through your business accelerator because uh I want to I want to learn some of these little tips and tricks.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_01: No, this is cool.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_01: This has been this has been really helpful.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_04: It's and I would love it if everyone followed hashtag FoxRacks.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_01: Um, okay, so real quick, before I want to have you tell everyone where they can find you and give any resources that you want to give out.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_01: But uh we always wrap up interviews with rapid fire questions, either or.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_01: So you pick one or the other.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_01: You don't need to elaborate unless you want to.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_01: Um, we'll blow through them real quick and then uh I'll ask a couple open ended questions and then we will wrap it up.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_01: So Judy Fox, Facebook or Instagram?
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_04: Instagram.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_01: Instagram or LinkedIn?
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_04: LinkedIn.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_01: I asked the same as I was reading it.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_01: I'm like, this is so stupid.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_01: Okay, LinkedIn or podcasts.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_01: Yes, I picked a good one.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, podcasts.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_04: Because at the end of the day, if you can grow an amazing community that listens to a podcast, that's 45.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_04: Anyone who's listening right now, you've invested how much into this conversation.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_04: That's really powerful.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_04: That's long attention.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_01: It is the best, the best medium out there, content-wise, for uh getting attention and building influence.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_04: I have a great client story.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_04: Dino hired me.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_04: He went to Harvard Business School and he got in his car at the beginning of the whole virus outbreak and he was going to pick up his daughter.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_04: He said, I'm going to listen to a leadership podcast.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_04: I want it to be a woman leader being interviewed on a podcast.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_04: And he came across me on a podcast called Authentic Leadership.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_04: Then he went over to my podcast, listened to an episode.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_04: And the moment he literally pulled over to type me a message in LinkedIn, said, I want to connect and I want to hire you immediately when I get home.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_04: He listened to two podcasts and then he hired me.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_04: And it's been amazing ever since.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_00: Wow, that's awesome.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_04: Completely cold lead to done.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_04: We're working together by him listening to two podcasts.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_01: That that's so crazy.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_04: The power of podcasting is off the charts.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_01: For real.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_01: Okay, podcasts or audiobooks.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_01: Podcasts.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_01: Alexa or Google Home.
- 1:07:33SPEAKER_04: Oh, I think I'm gonna like I don't have a Google Home.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_04: So I I think I don't know.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_04: I guess I want to say Google Home though, because I think Google Home has better answers to questions.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_04: I don't have it though, but that's my guess.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_04: Any TikTok I've seen comparing the two, Google Home always beats out.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_01: iPhone or Android?
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_04: iPhone.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_01: Good call.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_01: Burgers or pizza.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_04: Burgers.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_00: New York or LA.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_04: LA.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_04: That's super random, but I love that I can also go to the beach.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_01: Well, okay, mountains or beach.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_04: Oh, but I also I'm mountains, but New York doesn't really have mountains or much beach right there.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_04: So mountains.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_04: That sounds so random.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_01: I I think I'd well I live in the mountains in Salt Lake, so beach would be my answer.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_01: But if I was in California, I'd say mountains.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_01: NFL or NBA?
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_04: Um NBA.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_00: Do you even follow sports?
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_04: Not really.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_04: But I did play basketball in high school.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_04: I probably I'm 5'8-ish.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_04: And so my friends were all into basketball, and they were like, Well, you're tall and I run really fast, and like all these reasons why I should just play basketball.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_04: I was okay.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_04: I was not that great.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_01: It's funny how anyone who's who's above average height is like, well, they must play basketball.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_01: And if you don't, why don't you play basketball?
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_04: I wasn't that tall, but for a girl in high school, I had already gotten tall enough, if that makes sense.
- 1:09:13unknown: Sure.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_04: I ended up running.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_04: I ran a cross country track, indoor track.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_04: So I became a runner.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_01: I did I did cross country and I did track and cross it's just so boring.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_01: It's just so boring.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_01: But I did it for football because uh you can be a good sprinter, you can be a good football player.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_01: Uh podcasting or vlogging.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_04: It's still podcasting.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_04: It's so easy just to get on audio.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_00: YouTube or Facebook Live?
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_04: YouTube.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_00: Uber or Lyft?
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_00: Lyft.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_00: Gary V or Grant Cardone.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_04: Gary V.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_00: And what's the most impactful book you've ever read or listened to?
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_04: I have to look at my bookshelf.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_04: I know there's one that it's by Brian Tracy, and I think it's called A Hundred Miles to Go.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_04: I'm trying to think of that rings a bell.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I think that's the name of it.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_04: But the reason why it really impacted me is because he merged the idea of adventure and travel with uh business.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_04: And I really, really latched onto that early on because I was obsessed with adventure travel.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_04: And I wanted to climb Mount Everest and I wanted to travel the world and sail across the world and then hike to the highest peaks for every peak.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_04: And I wanted to do seven summits, I guess.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_00: And yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_04: So I was obsessed with the that concept that he merged the two worlds, coming up with business lessons merged with adventure travel.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_01: Well, that sounds kind of cool.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_01: I have not read that book, but that sounds good.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_01: That sounds really cool.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_04: I think that's the name of it.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_04: I know it's Brian Tracy.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_04: I'd have to find it.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_04: Anyways, it's a good book.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_04: And it was early on in my world of understanding business or reading and thinking like I want to read a business book.
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_04: So I was literally reading Crevasse Rescue and Mountaineering books.
- 1:11:13SPEAKER_01: So nice.
- 1:11:15SPEAKER_01: You throw a ladder over the thing, right?
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_01: And I've seen the movies.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_04: So I have climbed, I've been the lead climber on uh several mountaineering climbs, but I climbed uh Mount Rainier twice.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, cool.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_01: That's pretty cool.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_01: That is cool.
- 1:11:29unknown: Yeah.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_01: And then give us an app recommendation.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_01: Any apps that you're obsessed with right now?
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_01: Doesn't have to be business related.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_04: Let's see.
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_04: Which app would I be interested in?
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_04: What's on my front apps?
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_04: I mean, I'm pretty obsessed with TikTok.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_04: It's so much fun.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_04: Um is that an app recommendation?
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_04: I guess.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_04: I also love InShot as far as making any of my videos.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_04: I love using InShot.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, InShot's pretty powerful.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's what I got on the front page.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_01: Awesome.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_01: Well, Judy, where can people find you if they want to take your business accelerator course?
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_01: Uh, you know, where can they find you?
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_04: So my website is judifox.com.
- 1:12:13SPEAKER_04: And at the very top, there's a black bar that says pounce on a call with Judy Fox, too.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_04: I talk with everybody for at least 15, 30 minutes.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_04: Um, before I used to just let people join, but I really like making sure that if I'm going to be giving advice, you've heard my voice.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_04: We know that we're going to be talking with each other.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_04: Um, I think a lot of people end up making bitter bigger impact on LinkedIn when they get some personal coaching versus just a course, if that makes sense.
- 1:12:42SPEAKER_04: So what I offer is definitely a little bit more.
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_04: It's in a small group setting.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_04: I do about five to ten people at a time.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_04: And that way you're getting access to me.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_04: So if you're gonna get access to me, I need to at least know we've talked, if that makes sense.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_01: So JudyFox.com.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_04: And you can jump, it says pounce on a call.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_01: The whole branding thing with with their fox ears and all that is it's very well.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't I do have them, but I don't have them on me right now.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_01: Judy, thank you so much.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_01: Great conversation, really great tips.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_01: I've been rethinking my own LinkedIn strategy a little bit.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_01: So this was helpful for me, and I hope it was helpful for anyone listening to.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for your time.
- 1:13:25SPEAKER_01: I appreciate it.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_04: This was great.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_01: You bet.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_01: Guys, as I said in the interview a few times, I've really been rethinking my LinkedIn strategy.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_01: I've been focused too much on just posting things and content and not nearly enough on being social, not nearly enough emphasis on commenting.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_01: And so now uh be like that's become my number one priority.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_01: And I've already seen profile views going up, I've already seen a little bit better reach just in like a couple days since Judy first told me about this, and I'll continue to do so.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_01: So uh LinkedIn is just too powerful.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_01: Guys, if you just follow the roadmap that Judy laid out, focus on those few things and and do them the way that she recommends, awesome.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_01: And by the way, uh I believe Judy is gonna be setting up a special uh one of her uh what does she call them?
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_01: Her LinkedIn Business Accelerator programs just for real estate agents, sometime in September.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_01: So if that interests you, send me a DM personally because uh I'm the one coordinating it with her.
- 1:14:29SPEAKER_01: We're putting together a small group.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_01: I I think there's only gonna be five or six of us.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_01: So if you're a realtor that wants to join her LinkedIn Business Accelerator, shoot me a DM on Instagram, please, at Massive Agent, and we'll get that set up because I'm personally gonna do it.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_01: She's amazing, LinkedIn is amazing, and I've seen some of her students that we talked about in the episode that are just everywhere on LinkedIn.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_01: They've grown their audience dramatically.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_01: And strange, when you grow your audience and more people know who you are, you do more business and they're selling a crap load more properties.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_01: It's just it's amazing.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_01: So hope you guys enjoyed that.

- 1:15:14SPEAKER_01: It's not perfect by any stretch, but it's gotten a hell of a lot better than it used to be.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_01: And if you can just get rid of the the city, you know, the photo of the city as your cover photo, that's a good thing too.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_01: Uh get rid of that.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_01: So if you want that article that I mentioned where I took um where I knew where I got inspiration to change my LinkedIn cover photo, if you just go to LinkedIn and type uh Judy Fox, go to her featured section of her profile, uh, then you'll see uh it's it's a blue image, but it's like you know, the the best LinkedIn cover photos.
- 1:15:49SPEAKER_01: I just went through there, found one I liked, and copied the shit out of it.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_01: And I like it.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_01: So final word before I leave you for the week.
