- Jessica Figueroa: Good morning, everyone. I read in this book a long time ago. And when I read it, I thought to myself, I want this to be a sign over my dining room. And I never made that happen. And I always regret it because I can't remember which book I read it in, because I read a lot of books. But it said something, and I can't even remember exactly how it was said because I didn't write it down. But it said something to the effect of remember, you are not better than anyone else, but you are just as good as everyone else. And that stuck with me, not word for word, not which book I read it in, but boy, did that expression stu stick with me. And our life and our emotional and mental health relies on us having this kind of imagine like riding a bike, this balance of realizing that we're made in God's image and we are so special and He uniquely designed us. He knows the amount of hair on our head, knowing that thought, and that also that we are so not worthy that. Nothing we could do will ever be good enough. Now imagine thinking about if you're a parent out there and you're telling a kid, that's so good, that's so good. Imagine if you told them all the time, that's not good enough. No, baby, girl, that drawing's not good enough. What if you said, that cartwheel, it's just not good enough, or that paper you wrote, it's not good enough. That's a problem, right? But at the same time, if you told them all the time, amazing, you're such an incredible artist. my gosh, you're so good at gymnastics, you're gonna go to the Olympics. Wow, you're such a great friend. I can't believe you did that for them. If they heard that all the time, also not healthy. And this goes after we're a child. And most when you see adults that are behaving in a way that they shouldn't be, often they just haven't matured. So you our body will grow and mature, but our mind doesn't always. So as adults, we have to do this for ourselves. We have to congratulate ourselves, but not too much. We have to remind ourselves we are made in God's image and we're amazing. We're also just not that good and we're never gonna be good enough. And that's why we need Jesus and our savior. So we wanna be living this life where we understand all of our brokenness and where we're blessed. We're blessed and broken all at the same time. Those two things coexist for our entire lives here on this side of heaven. Let's think about that together today. I can't wait to talk with you guys tomorrow.
