- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here, and you're about to listen to a sleep.
- 0:42Hypnosis session. With a bit of a difference
- 0:45because. It's less about.
- 0:47Getting to sleep originally and more getting back to sleep if
- 0:52you've woken up in the middle of the night, and I was working
- 0:55with a client that would regularly wake up.
- 0:59At least. Once, sometimes two times, which
- 1:02meant that they would have about 3 stints of sleeping rather than
- 1:06continuous sleep. And the problem would be is that
- 1:09sometimes they just couldn't get back to sleep again, even though
- 1:13they hadn't really slept enough during the night.
- 1:16So this is designed for someone like that to really anchor
- 1:21resourceful feelings of calmness, relaxation.
- 1:24But it has a tool using breath work to activate the
- 1:28parasympathetic nervous system. A lot of people, if they wake up
- 1:31in the middle of the night, they're breathing shallow from
- 1:34the chest and they're in their head thinking about what if I
- 1:37can't get back to sleep, I've got to go to work tomorrow, I've
- 1:39got to do this, got to do that. And that leads to more cortisol.
- 1:43So it works at 2 levels by having the deep.
- 1:46Long. Outward breaths that activates
- 1:48the parasympathetic nervous system, which means less
- 1:51adrenaline and cortisol and more of the happy hormones, things
- 1:55like oxytocin and serotonin, those kind of things that can
- 1:59really. Calm.
- 2:01The whole body down. And I also have a suggestion of
- 2:04what's called a double bind. Long outward breaths activate
- 2:09the diaphragm, and the diaphragm activates the.
- 2:11Lymphatic system. O it's ositioned as a very low
- 2:15stakes. Thing because.
- 2:17If you're doing 100 Dee breaths and you're focused on those.
- 2:21Then. Chances are you're going to fall
- 2:23back to sleep before you get to 100, but if you don't, well,
- 2:26your body's healthier for the breath work anyway, so it's a
- 2:30win win. Outcome let me.
- 2:33Know in the comments if you find this useful and if your sleep is
- 2:36improving, particularly if you are someone that.
- 2:39Drifts. Off to sleep and then wakes up
- 2:41and then you can't get back again.
- 2:43This is really for you and it was created for an individual.
- 2:47Some of the suggestions might not quite fit, so if you do like
- 2:49the idea of working with me directly, there will be a link
- 2:53in the description where you can schedule a free consultation.
- 2:57Call over Zoom and we'll have a chat.
- 2:59And who knows, I might be your hypnotherapist.
- 3:01To work directly. With you for now though, find a
- 3:04quiet comfortable place, ideally your bed, and relax.
- 3:08And enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 3:43you breathe in, breathe in that long, slow, relaxing breath, and
- 3:53as you exhale, really aim to empty your lungs, continuing to
- 4:02breathe out for way longer than you normally would.
- 4:10Perhaps you could imagine a candle or a ball of fluff and
- 4:20just imagine breathing out to blow out that candle, Move that
- 4:32fluff until your lungs are completely empty, and then as
- 4:39you breathe in, breathe in longer, slower and deeper than
- 4:51you normally would, and think of a colour that represents
- 4:58soothing relaxation. And maybe it's a a lavender, A
- 5:08pastel blue, a gentle purple, something calming, a soft jello.
- 5:18Just allow your mind to think of that soothing color and imagine
- 5:26as you breathe in, you're breathing in that color and just
- 5:33imagine. It works like medication, but as
- 5:38you breathe in that color it kind of works like.
- 5:47A tablet you've. Had in the past that when you've
- 5:49taken it, it's helped you drift after sleep and just imagine
- 5:56that as you breathe in that color, it's soothing and calming
- 6:03your nervous system down. And as you exhale, just allow
- 6:12any colors that represent stress, tension, or alertness to
- 6:20leave your body as you exhale, enabling you to feel like you're
- 6:29drifting deeper and deeper. Relaxed, that's in.
- 6:38And the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you become.
- 6:48And the more relaxed you become, the deeper you breathe.
- 6:51And I want you to imagine a sofa and just imagine it's maybe half
- 7:03an hour before you'd normally sleep, and maybe there's ATV on
- 7:09more music or something else. And just imagine a soothing
- 7:16sensation, perhaps like your hair is being stroked, part of
- 7:23your body massaged, and just feel what you would feel like if
- 7:31that was happening. A wonderful sensation of
- 7:37soothing because it works on a baby or a kitten or a puppy.
- 7:49That physical touch can really calm all mammals down and just
- 7:59feel how you would feel if you were in that place.
- 8:09And you've had that feeling where you're not sure if you're
- 8:13about to yawn or not, but a yawn is one of those things that
- 8:20becomes contagious. There's been at least once where
- 8:27someone yawning in your presence gave you an urge to start
- 8:33yawning too. And sometimes just thinking
- 8:38about yawning gives all the wonderful sensations of a real
- 8:45yawn, of letting go of tension, of starting to feel drowsy as a
- 8:54signal, a clue, communication from your body to your mind,
- 9:02that it's time to get ready to drift into sleep.
- 9:12And I want you to imagine being on that sofa, struggling to keep
- 9:17your eyes open. It's almost like the harder you
- 9:22try to stay awake, the more powerful that part within you.
- 9:29The really crave sleep can overrule you.
- 9:34It can make you feel drowsy and sleepy whether you like it or
- 9:42not. And what if we could use that
- 9:46part of your subconscious mind that can make you sleep sleepy
- 9:51and drowsy when you don't want to help you feel sleepy and
- 9:57drowsy when you do? Just imagine drifting off into
- 10:05that dreamlike sleep. And sometimes you've had a dream
- 10:11about being on a chair on a dock, looking out.
- 10:16At a lake. And I want you to imagine that
- 10:20lake. I want you to get a sense that
- 10:25this is a calm, still lake. And sometimes when you've looked
- 10:35at that. Surface.
- 10:37Of the lake. It's like a mirror revealing the
- 10:42sky, the clouds, the sunshine above.
- 10:48And I want you to get a feeling, a feeling that as you're staring
- 10:53there into the surface of the lake, the calmness of the lake
- 11:00feels like it's awakening the calmness within.
- 11:06Slow, long outward breaths. Each long outward breath takes
- 11:13you deeper and deeper, relaxed. That's it.
- 11:20And I want you to get a sense that sometimes, sometimes when
- 11:31you wake up, it's not a clue that you need to do anything.
- 11:40So it may be just a prompt to reposition your body to connect
- 11:48with the feeling of warmth with the covers, softness on the
- 11:53pillow, softness or firmness of the mattress.
- 12:02And by waking up and assessing that you are safe, comfortable
- 12:10hose, even, you can drift back to sleep.
- 12:17And sometimes the harder you try to stay awake, the more your
- 12:22body wants you to have that refreshing, rejuvenating sleep.
- 12:32But the worst thing you can do is to try to sleep.
- 12:39I want you to imagine instead of trying to sleep, wouldn't it be
- 12:48a good idea to try and have 100 long outward breaths in a row
- 12:59without falling asleep? And sometimes you won't even be
- 13:06able to get to 10 or 15 until you drift off into that deep,
- 13:14rejuvenating sleep. But here's the thing about long,
- 13:21outward breaths. You can't do it unless you have
- 13:25a really deep inward breath beforehand.
- 13:32And sometimes, whatever happens, you win.
- 13:37You've had that situation before.
- 13:41Irrespective of the outcome, you win.
- 13:47So just imagine staring into the lake and then drifting off into
- 13:52a dream within a dream where you imagine waking up at some point
- 13:58in the middle of the night. No need to pee, no need to even
- 14:06leave the bed. But I want you to imagine
- 14:10connecting with that feeling of safety, calmness, coziness, and
- 14:18then attempting 100 slow, long outward breaths.
- 14:28And here's why you can't lose Every time you have that slow,
- 14:35long outward breath, you activate the diaphragm.
- 14:40And the diaphragm is the pump for the lymphatic system.
- 14:46And the lymphatic system helps move lymph around your body,
- 14:53optimizing your health and making you better prepared to
- 15:01deal with any germs or bacteria. Just optimizing health.
- 15:14And here's why you can't lose. Because if you attempt to have
- 15:20100 outward breaths while imagining a cloud made of
- 15:27numbers starting at 100, overlake starts counting down.
- 15:35You will either drift off into deep rejuvenating sleep before
- 15:42you get to 100 and you sleep well, or you get to 100 and
- 15:50you've done something to revitalize your body and your
- 15:55health by activating your diaphragm.
- 16:01Good breathing is one of the pillars of good health and
- 16:09therefore you can't lose maybe the drift after sleep or improve
- 16:16your health in a different way. And even if you get to 100, but
- 16:26you could just start from zero and count all the way down
- 16:32again, knowing you're either going to have great sleep or
- 16:39great health. And both are wonderful.
- 16:48I want you to think of a time when you were on the beach
- 16:53looking at waves. I just imagine seeing surfers
- 17:02and sometimes a surfer can catch a wave, a small wave that just.
- 17:10Lasts a little. While and then they get back on
- 17:15the board and aim to catch another wave.
- 17:21And sometimes when you sleep, you've been catching two or
- 17:27three waves of sleep. But I want you to imagine
- 17:35perhaps sooner than you think, you'll be catching bigger waves
- 17:42of sleep. And don't be surprised if sooner
- 17:49than you think, you catch a wave that gives you 7 or 8 hours of
- 17:56non-stop sleep. And imagine how refreshed and
- 18:02rejuvenated you would be if you had eight hours of uninterrupted
- 18:09sleep. But what if you've been falling
- 18:18asleep at a time, which means you've been missing those bigger
- 18:25waves? If circadian rhythms are like
- 18:29waves, what if you keep missing it ever so slightly?
- 18:36So just imagine what it would feel like to just change the
- 18:42time when you go to bed, maybe 15 minutes later.
- 18:49Try it for a few days and then even later, knowing that you are
- 18:57showing a treasure map to your unconscious mind, defined where
- 19:03X marks the spot. Your unconscious will find and
- 19:08reveal to you a window of time that is optimal.
- 19:15For you to. Catch those longer waves of
- 19:19uninterrupted sleep, and even if you do awaken, you make yourself
- 19:27comfortable. Focus on your breathing.
- 19:33Think of clouds counting down like numbers.
- 19:37Over a still. Lake, and don't be surprised if
- 19:43you can't even get to 50 or 60 before you're deep within that
- 19:51dream. Like sleep, your unconscious
- 19:57mind is not your enemy, it's your ally.
- 20:03And I want you to get a sense that you've been fighting it for
- 20:07a while, but now you want to harness that same part that has
- 20:14you drifting off to sleep in front of the TV.
- 20:20Entrust it, empower it, give it the.
- 20:24Responsibility of working. With you of helping you not just
- 20:30get to sleep, but to continue to sleep, recharging batteries and
- 20:37rejuvenating. I want you to imagine there on
- 20:48the dock seeing the clouds and start counting down.
- 20:57Every outward breath the cloud gets one number lower. 100
- 21:03becomes 99 and then 98. But a breath can take 40 seconds
- 21:09or 50 seconds, maybe less, maybe more.
- 21:13But the slower the longer the breath, the better.
- 21:18And as you focus on the clouds, very soon I will count from 1:00
- 21:23to 10:00. And if you're listening to this
- 21:27at a time where you just want to prime your unconscious to sleep
- 21:31later, then when I arrive at 10, you will awaken.
- 21:37But if you're listening to this, when your head's on a pillow,
- 21:42your body's in a bed, and your unconscious decides you want to
- 21:47drift off to deep, rejuvenating sleep, then when I count from
- 21:54one to 10, the numbers just help you to focus on the clouds,
- 22:01helping you drift off deeper and deeper until you're in the most
- 22:12incredible, wonderful sleep you've had in a long time. 123,
- 22:22456789 and 10. Thank.
