- Jessica Figueroa: Hello, listeners. It is Cindy Marlar, and we're back this morning with another episode of Just for Today. What we're going to be talking about today is the Lord's Prayer. I was born in 1981, and the Lord's Prayer is something we said at the school I grew up going to. It was a secular private school, and we said it. The Lord's Prayer is full of so much that you could meditate on. So I want to go back over it, and I want you for today to say to the Lord's Prayer to yourself throughout the day. Most of us, if you grew up You know, going to schools around here, you might just know it. If not, you can find it in the Bible, in the book of Matthew or in the Book of Luke. And I'm going to read it from Matthew, and I'll tell you when it starts. So it says, And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your father who is unseen. Then your father Who sees what is done in secret will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your father knows what you need before you ask him. Guys, your father knows what you need before you ask him. And then it goes on to say, This then is how you should pray. And here we are in Matthew with the Lord's Prayer. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. So just for today, I want you guys to recite the Lord's Prayer. And you might know a little different version. I want you to say it to yourself throughout the day, but I want you to take it line by line and really reflect on it. Hallowed be your name. What does that mean? Give us today our daily bread. What does that mean to you? Forgive us our debts as we have also forgiven our debtors. So today we're going to use the Lord's Prayer as something to meditate on throughout the day as we reflect on each line and what it means. And don't worry, we just have to do it for today. I will see you guys tomorrow. Happy praying.
