Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: How many of us have had a goal or a dream or a certain lifestyle that we wanted, but we've convinced ourselves we can't do it because we're realtors.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: We can't do it because we have to be a real estate agent.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: And real estate agents have this schedule and this structure and their businesses a certain way.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Well, today Neil Mathweg's coming back on the show.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Neil is, first off, I believe, the greatest, best, most effective real estate coach in the industry.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: I've seen him uh I've seen him take brand new agents and turn them into top producers.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: I've seen him take agents who are struggling and stuck and turn them into top producers.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: He himself has been selling 100 homes a year.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: He was the CEO of his previous brokerage.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: He he's done this industry and this profession at a very high level.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: But just recently, he sold everything and now he lives full-time in an RV.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: He and his family.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: They traveled the country in an RV and his business has never been better.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: He's selling a bunch of homes to his real estate team back in Wisconsin, and he's living the lifestyle that he and his family have dreamed about.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: So we're going to talk about how you can actually do that by deciding what you want your life to look like, defining what that is, and then taking the steps to get there.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: We're going to help you do it.
- 1:21SPEAKER_03: I love to buy houses.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: I like to sell houses.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: What is up, everybody?
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Welcome to episode 176 of the Massive Agent Podcast.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Super excited this week to bring Neil Mathweg back for the fourth time.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: He is he's definitely the guest that's been on the most.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: And you'll see today why that is.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: I believe he and his agent rights coaching is the best real estate coach in the industry by far.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Uh, what he's able to do with brand new agents and agents that are kind of stuck and struggling is amazing because he's walked the walk himself.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: He's he's personally sold, you know, a hundred plus homes a year.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: He's uh he's sold north of a thousand homes in his career.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: He runs a real estate team.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: He was the CEO of his previous brokerage, and now he lives full time.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: He and his family live full time in an RV.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Right now, today, uh, when we recorded this, he's in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: And he just they travel wherever they want.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: They live wherever they want.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: And most of us as realtors, we're like, well, we can't do that.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: We're reals.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Like we have to be here in our city, right?
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Well, I want you guys to understand there are other ways to structure your business so that you can still earn a great living and have the freedom to live the life you want.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: That's really become a passion of mine here on this podcast is to show you guys other paths, other ways to live, other ways to do business.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: You don't have to do what the industry tells you you have to do.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: You don't have to do what your mentor has done unless your mentor has the lifestyle that you want.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: And let me just say this: how many of us are following somebody?
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Like we look up to someone, or we have someone as a mentor or as a coach, but we don't want their life.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: We we we maybe we look at their level of production or the amount of sales and income that they have, but then we look at their life and we're like, I don't want that.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Well, you don't, you probably shouldn't be following somebody who has a life that you don't want yourself.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Today's going to be really helpful for you guys to reflect on what it is that you actually want and show you there are other ways to structure your business.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: There are other ways to be a successful realtor and to earn a great living in this industry outside of what you're currently doing.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: So, if anything, I want you to think big.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: I want you to think bold about what it is you want, what kind of revenue you want, how you want it to come in, where you want to be, do you want to travel or not?
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Who do you want to do it with?
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: All of that stuff.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: You guys define that, and then we can help you build a real estate career around your lifestyle so you can actually be living the life you want today.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: Great episode today with Neil Mathwig.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: If you are brand new to the Massive Agent Podcast, welcome.

- 4:23SPEAKER_00: I've been an agent for almost 11 years now.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: I guess it's just still over, it's 10 and a half years.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Almost 11, right?
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Glass half full.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Uh I am also the co-founder of the Industry Syndicate Podcast Network.

- 5:26SPEAKER_00: All right, let's jump into this interview with who I believe is the best coach in the real estate industry by far.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: I don't even think, I don't even think it's debatable.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: This person has sold over a thousand homes themselves.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of other coaches out there that have never sold homes.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: They're just great speakers, great marketers.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean that they're wrong in what they're saying, but they they can't have the same perspective as somebody who sold over a thousand homes if they've never sold one.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: It's just not you can't have the same perspective and experience.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: So that's why I feel that Neil Mathweg is so effective.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: He's uh he's a great friend of mine.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: We met through Snapchat four, five, six years ago, something like that.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: Um, we're good friends, we're now business partners, uh, we're aligned financially.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: You know, we we're building a team together um nationwide, which is super fun and uh a lot of fun, actually.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: And he's just a great human being with a with the heart of a teacher.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: So let's get into it with Neil Mathweg right now.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: All right, I'm here with the man, Neil Mathweg.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: How are you doing, my friend?
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to the show.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: I'm doing awesome, man.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: I'm excited.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Uh you know, I should have checked.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: I think I think this is your third time on the show.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Maybe your fourth, but you're the am I becoming the Bill Murray?
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: You you are, you're becoming my Bill Murray.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Yes, absolutely.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: The the Bill Murray to uh to my what was that?
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: John, I was gonna say Johnny Cochrane, but that's not the name I'm looking for.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Carson, no, it was uh it was newer than that.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Letterman Letterman, yeah, Letterman.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Love it, dude.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Welcome back.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: Thanks, my friend.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Yes, a lot has changed since you've been on the Massive Agent podcast.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm I'm living in an RV now.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: Yes, where are you at today?
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: We're in Fort Myers, Florida.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: Beautiful Fort Myers.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: So that's on the Gulf side, right?
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Yes, is are the the beaches as awesome as everyone says they are with the white sand?
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's unbelievable.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: It really is.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: Yep, yep.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: Just had dinner last night uh on the beach, and it had to be dim lighting because now it's turtle season, so the turtles are starting to come in.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: I didn't see one, but I was ready.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: But yeah, the whole the whole island goes dark so that the turtles can come in.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: That's interesting.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: We don't really have that in Salt Lake City, Utah.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: No, no, not so much.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: That's cool.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Um, but my wife and I just got back from Cabo last week, and we're like, you know, we need to book another trip.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: You know, the winners book a trip from a trip, right?
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: So we're like, let's be winners and let's figure out a trip.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: So we're thinking like Naples or somewhere on the the Gulf Coast of Florida because we just hear how awesome it is.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's the cool thing about Fort Myers, is it's you know, 30, 40 minutes to Naples, it's 30, 40 minutes to Fort Myers Beach where we're parked.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: You can go up to Cape Coral, you can go to Tampa if you really wanted to.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: Uh there's it's it's awesome.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: This area is is superb.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: That's cool, man.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: Well, last time you were on the show, you were in Madison, Wisconsin.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: You've always been the Madison, Wisconsin guy.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: What's changed?
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: That you know, I'm I'm having you on the show for a very specific reason today because I really like something that I become passionate about is helping realtors to think bigger and to take a step back and define what they want their life to look like, what they want their days to look like, where what they want their revenue to look like and where that revenue comes from.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Does it is it based on transactions?
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: Is it residual?
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Is it from investments?
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: They need to define that.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: And you've done something so interesting and bold, but why don't you why don't you bring the massive agent listeners up to speed on um why you're not in Madison, Wisconsin anymore?
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: I the the short answer is I had this desire to go full-time Marvine.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: I think it, I think it comes from like I was a little kid.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: Like I just love the idea of being a truck driver.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Um, like like I told my mom, I want to be a truck driver when I grow up.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: She's like, no, you don't, you know, aim higher.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: Um, nothing against truck drivers, but I don't know, that's just where I was as a kid.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: And um, and I so I always had this desire of driving a big rig down the road.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: And uh so I think part of that was that.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: I think the other thing was is this desire to get out.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: I heard Grant Cardone say once he bought a plane because he needed to go where where the where the people was, where the deals were.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: And as I'm growing agent rise in my coaching business, and as I'm growing my EXP team, I realized that I need to get out.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: Like I can't just be stuck in Madison and I need to get out.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: So that was another thing.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: Um, and I really I had this thought that you know there's the there's scripture around this that says if you want to ruin a man's vision, give him two.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: And in Madison, Wisconsin, I had three, you know, I had more than one vision.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: I had two or three visions.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: I had, you know, what I was doing with Agent Rise and what I was doing with EXP, and what I was doing with I Love Madison, and what I was doing with my team, and and and it had all these visions, and I was pulled all over the place, and I had rental properties and I had uh and other investment ideas and I had all the stuff going on, uh, which it was all good, but it was all a distraction.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: And I realized that I really wanted to get to the right side of the quadrant with the Robert Kiyosaki's cash flow quadrant, right?
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: We we start out with a job, then we become self-employed, and we think we find freedom when we're self-employed.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: And then we we realize that there's another side to it, that we can become a business owner where the systems work for us, or we can become an investor where our money works for us.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: And so I I wanted to get to the right side of that quadrant, and I did on October 15th, the day I sold my house and the day I left Madison, Wisconsin.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: And so that was the aha moment of like, I can go do this.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Like it's scary.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm leaving, I'm I'm I've you know sold 50 to 100 homes a year throughout my career.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: I'm leaving all of that behind to just now collect referral fees.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: I'm leaving my face-to-face with my team.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: How is this gonna go?
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: Um, and I'm leaving, you know, people are know that I'm leaving town.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: Are they still gonna call me to be their real estate agent?
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: So a lot of what I know today was leaving, but I knew that that wasn't the lifestyle that I wanted to live my entire life.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: That I knew that I my heart was yearning to get out and travel the country and to get belly to belly with agents all across the country instead of instead of just being in Madison.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: Like I just knew that there was more.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: And so we went on this trip back in March of 2020.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: So, like right as the pandemic was starting, I um went on this trip and I had um um, I got asked to speak in Louisville, Kentucky.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: And I came home and I told my wife, I'm like, wouldn't it be great if we had our RV and we could go on this trip?
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: And she's like, Well, why do we have to wait to have the RV?
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: Why don't we just go with what we have?
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: And it was to me, it was like just the little nudge that I needed to go out and explore.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: And and my first thought was, it's the spring of the market.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: What are we doing?
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: We're not gonna go travel the country, the spring of the market.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: This is no time, right?
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: This is harvest season.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: You don't, a farmer doesn't leave during the harvest.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: Why would we leave during the harvest?
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: What are we doing?
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: And and but she's like, No, I feel like we need to go.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: And she said, I also think we have to go to Florida.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: I'm like, Jenny, seriously, get real.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: Like, we can't be going to Florida now.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: Like, she's like, I think you should put something out and see if we go to Florida.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: I'm like, All right, so I put it out on Facebook, and what do you know?
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: I get three more speaking gigs in Florida.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: So we go on a four-gig speaking tour in the beginning of the spring of the season, I end up meeting all kinds of agents that want coaching.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: I end up getting uh hired by an awesome firm in Virginia Beach to coach there uh because I met them at the Louisville uh conference.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: Like, I mean, I it it my business, it was I came back and I'm driving and I'm like, and then I also that's also the trip that I learned about exp.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: So I'm I'm driving back and I'm like, whoa, this is I really have to do this.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: So we were driving through Ohio of all places, and my wife and I looked at each other and we said, We got to go back and sell everything.
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: We got we got to do this, we got to go back to sell everything.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Uh, we're not gonna Airbnb because Airbnb is crashing right now because of COVID.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: So we're not gonna Airbnb our house, we're gonna sell our house, we're gonna get rid of everything, we're gonna buy an RV and we're gonna do this.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: And so that was the date that we started making the final push towards our dreams.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: And I always talk about that final push.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: Like you you get you have these dreams, you have these dreams, and they don't they don't really go anywhere until you make the final push.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: You know what really strikes me about your story, and you know, you I've been lucky enough to call you a friend for years, even luckier to have you as a partner, you know, with our with the group we're building at EXP.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: And and so like I've I've watched you, I've I've seen this journey unfold.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: And with what you with what you just said, like it all came down to a decision that you made.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: You guys made a decision, and and here's the important part for everyone listening.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: You have to decide and commit to something, even if you can't see the next step yet.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: You just have to know that if you make that bold decision and decide, like really decide, not one foot in, one foot out, kind of thing.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: Like we do that with all sorts of shit.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: Strangely, it doesn't ever work out.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Once you actually jump in the pool fully, you figure it out.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: You know, you start doing things, you start putting energy out there and thoughts out there that start attracting what you need to make it happen.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: You start taking the actions required to get you there.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: The decision's everything.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: And it's I love that you are leading by example in this because I feel like so many agents in our industry don't feel like they have permission to decide what they want their life to look like, what they want their business to look like.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: They're living, uh they're structuring their business in a way that they're told they need to by their team leader, their mentor, their brokerage, the industry.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, if you sold 20 homes last year, you should sell 40 next year, and you know, and then 40 to 80.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: And well, what if you don't want that?
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: What if you just want to make more money and not have it tied to your transactions?
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: What if you want to travel the world?
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: What if you don't want to be stuck in one location forever?
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: And you've really shown that you can have all those things if you just make a decision and then start working towards making that happen.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: What was the hardest thing for you in the beginning, Neil?
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Like, what's been the the for anyone that's like, yeah, that's great, that's all honky dory, but like, what were the struggles?
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: What were the roadblocks?
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: What were some of those things?
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: Before I go into that, I think what it is is that you it you don't have to make it hard.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: Like in my mind, I was making everything hard, right?
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: But what but what when you go through it, it's like, why do I have to make this hard?
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: Why can't this just be easy?
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: Yes, right.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: And so it was it was okay, I gotta, I gotta buy.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: We decided that we needed a truck and we needed a fifth wheel because that was gonna house our family the best.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: So uh do I go, do I go buy the truck?
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: Do I go buy the the the car sell the car first?
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: Sell the the oh, we shouldn't sell the van yet because I still need the van, right?
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: Uh so you like in your head, you can waste like a week thinking about that.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: And then should I buy the truck before that I buy the RV?
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: Well, I need to know the size of the RV.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: It's like all those details, right?
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: Looking back on it, it was one of the easiest things I did.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was like it was I want to buy this truck, it's the right fit.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I want to buy your RV.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna come down and buy your RV, right?
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: Like it you don't have to make it hard, right?
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: And everything in our mind is harder than it actually is.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: And then you're right, you do not have to make that that you don't have to climb the mountain all in one step, right?
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: It's one step after another, and then you just keep you like I always say that what got you here is not gonna get you there, and what's what you need to get there is gonna be there for you when you arrive.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: And every time we needed somebody or something to happen in order to go to the next thing, and there was at least 10 times throughout the journey where I was on my knees praying, like wondering how we were gonna go to this next thing and how what how this was gonna get fixed and how we were gonna make this happen.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: And then all of a sudden the next morning, there was the answer.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: At least 10 times.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: And so what you need is gonna be there when you arrive, and you just keep going.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: But see, here's the thing is I made the decision that I was going, you know, and the and what I needed along the way was provided for me every step of the way, and it was scary.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, I remember talking to you throughout some of it, and man, I was a mess.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: I mean, I was I was just like beside myself, like, what am I doing?
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: And there were so many times we're like, what are we doing?
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: Let's turn around.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: This is stupid.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: And then we but we're like, nope, nope, this is gonna be amazing.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: Let's just keep going, let's just keep going.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: And I feel like that is the worry about what could go wrong, or you know, the doubt holds so many people back.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: You know, whether it's traveling the country in an RV, you know, living wherever the hell you feel like living.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: See, that's cool to me.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: I still think that's so cool, Neil.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: You live wherever the hell you feel like living.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: Um, but even even within uh the context of a real estate agent running their business, you know, trying to grow, trying to earn more, all of that, I people need to stop worrying about what could go wrong and think about what could go right.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: I was talking with an agent on a Zoom call just before this, and you know, she's uh she's thinking of you know joining with us and and joining our team and partnering with us.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: And you know, she just had some doubts.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: She's like, well, you know, what if it's not everything I think it is?
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: You know, and I'm like, look, I get it.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: Um, I had those same doubts too, but what if it is?
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, what if it is everything you think it is?
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: You know, how could you not take advantage of that?
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: So, you know, if you're if you're an agent and you're like, ah, I hate having to go to the office every day and making these stupid phone calls or you know, having floor time when nobody goes into real estate offices anymore unless you're in like Park City or Vale or you know, some resort area.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: Like, if you hate what you're doing, but you have aspirations to have a greater income or a better lifestyle, are you in the right position?
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: Are is your butt in the right seat that can even get you there?
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: And and for you, you had to make a dramatic decision to leave your the brokerage you were a CEO of and and find something that let you, you know, not be defined or or restricted by boundaries or offices and you could work virtually.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: And uh, you know, speak to that a little bit.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: I mean, yeah, that was a big deal for you too.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, and I think when we look at the cash flow quadrant and we think about like getting to become a business owner and having a business and a system work for us, I I was hit with this thought of if Neil stops selling real estate, if Neil, if Neil isn't here anymore, then real estate sales stop, right?
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: The the whole thought of I can build a real estate team and sell it is so not true.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: Like it just it just not possible.
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: I and I'm sure there's some that have pulled it off, but whatever.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: I I when I stepped into that CEO role and I had sold about a hundred homes a year and stepped into the CEO role, and because I was out of sales, my sales went down to 36 that first year, 22 the second year, eight the third year, and nothing the fourth year, right?
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: Like because they knew that I wasn't selling.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: So that's what selling a real estate business looks like.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: If you want to buy you know a business that's gonna depreciate like that, then that's not a good, got it, not a good move.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: And that's not gonna carry on forever.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: But when the thought came up of, hey, I want to get to the right side of the quadrant where I'm building a business that's gonna live past Neil.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: If Neil dies, it still provides for my family.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: That's where I want, that's where I wanted to go.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: And so, and I'm not there yet, but I'm building that, right?
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: And I know that it's going to come.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: I'm going in the right direction.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: And I just my heart breaks for the agent that's grinding out sales every single year, has absolutely no retirement, is filing extensions every year to pay their taxes, and is just running the race.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: And the brokers getting richer and richer and richer, right?
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: And so, like that just drives me nuts.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Because that's exactly where I was.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: I was a part of that system for 19 years.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: And enough is enough.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: And now I'm building my business.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: And now I'm building a business that's going to live past me.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: And that's that's where all of my energy is going now.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: And again, my heart breaks for the agents that don't see that, that just feel like they got to keep grinding, or they feel like they've they owe it to their broker.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: They owe it to the, you know, whatever, whatever they whoever they feel like they owe it to.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: Um, they they they're not setting themselves up to have something that's gonna live past them.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: It really they are getting in their own way.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: There's the only thing preventing them from putting their butt in a better seat that will give them the platform that they need to do whatever it is that they want to build.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Maybe they do want to go from 40 sales to 300 and they want to build a sales team of 30.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: I mean, awesome, but are you in the right seat for that?
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: Is the is the current brokerage you're with, or or maybe the brokerage you're with is the right one, but maybe your mentor is not right.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: Maybe your the team you're with is not right, maybe the the people that you're getting advice from are not right, or or they've never been where you want to go.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: You've got to change that.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: And there's nobody that controls it but us.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: That's that that's the best news of all, though, Neil.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, yes, if we control it, then we control it.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: It just sometimes takes getting uncomfortable.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: But I don't know about you.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: Everything in my life, every good thing that's ever come in my life has come when I got uncomfortable.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: Good things, like great things, like big life-altering things don't happen when you're in the comfort zone.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: You've got to get out of it.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: And then that's that's the growth zone.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: Um, I've heard that for many years, you know, from Tony Robbins and you know, all this personal development stuff, but to actually be living it the last few years is wild.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: And then to be aligned with people that are selling six and seven hundred homes a year and and work one hour a week doing it, and people who um just move to Puerto Rico because they make uh you know$100,000 a month residually off of investments and revenue share and a few other things.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: It's like, holy shit, there's there's levels to this game.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: But it starts with defining what you want and then making a decision to get yourself in the right position to go after it, which you did, and and it's super cool.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: Um, anything more to add to that?
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: Because I want to ask you, you know, about what's next.
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: You know, what have you learned along the way that you're maybe going to change or double down on and and you know do from here on out?
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:40SPEAKER_01: So one more thing to add to that is that the first time I read Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and the and understand the cash flow quadrant, I truthfully had in my brain the thought of that, the right side of the quadrant almost sounds fraudulent to me.
- 24:58SPEAKER_01: Like, how can you have a business that generates revenue and you don't work in it?
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: How can you have investments that are generating revenue for you and you're not doing anything for them?
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: Like I started buying rental properties and I'm said, Yeah, these are my investments, but man, I work hard for these investments.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: I I'm there, you know, fixing the toilet, I'm there painting, I'm there, you know, mowing the grass, I'm I'm taking care of my properties and I'm working.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: So I was still in my mind, I was still on the left side of the quadrant.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: And I'm afraid that there's so many that believe that that's where they need to be, and they can never accept the right side of the quadrant.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: And I'm telling you that it is not that way.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: And so that I and I know that there's others that think that because I just I just grew up blue collar.
- 25:45SPEAKER_01: I grew up, you know, I had to work for everything.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: And if I wasn't working for it, it wasn't fair, right?
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: It wasn't, I was cheating if I wasn't working for it.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: I was shaking the the cheap way.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: Um, and so I know that there's others that have those same thoughts and just trust me, there is ways to be on the right side of the quadrant and grow amazing organizations and make a huge impact and influence a ton of people and watch them grow their businesses as well and be on that right side of the quadrant and then have freedom.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: I don't my I keep getting notifications and I don't know where it's coming from.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: Um worries, or something.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: Um, so um, and so then on the on the right side of the quadrant, um, there's also freedom, right?
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: So I have the most freedom I've ever had in my life.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: And I really struggle talking about the word freedom because it can be taken for granted very easily.
- 26:41SPEAKER_01: I mean, we have freedom from God.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: God gave us freedom.
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: We have freedom for those that fought and continue to fight and continue to die for our country.
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: And we have we have freedoms that we can easily take for granted.
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: And so, freedom is a very powerful word and something that I don't take lightly.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: And there's some people that have no freedom at all and they're stuck into slavery, and my heart breaks for them, right?
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: So, freedom, again, is a very, very heavy word, and it's something that I don't take lightly, and it's something that I have found more freedom in my life now than I have ever had ever before.
- 27:17SPEAKER_01: And so to me, it's what we're going for, and and and and and it can look different for everybody, but it used to many years ago look the same for everybody.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: And today there's so many different ways, and there's so many different uh ways to build this and to to look at the real estate industry differently than it is or than it than it once was, and the freedom that can be found.
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: Um, what I'm looking forward to moving forward is I've got a book coming out.
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: Um, I've been writing, I've written a book before and never published it.
- 27:47SPEAKER_01: Um booked like 10 years in the makings.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: Um, and and I'm super fired up about it.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: I finished it um beginning of the year.
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: I hired an editor, we're halfway through with the editing portion of it.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: Um, but the book is gonna come out this summer.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: So I'm really, really excited about that.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: And I'm really excited to do uh and work with more real estate agents and helping them grow their business.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: We've uh I cannot wait for public speaking to open back up again and to go to conferences and be in touch with people.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: I was jealous you were in Cabo, but I'm looking forward to Dallas.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: Um, but um I I I just am so hungry uh for that, and that's what I'm looking forward to.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: And it's like wherever we have, wherever the conference is, that's where we drive the RV to.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: And so I'm never going to another conference without my family again.
- 28:35SPEAKER_01: And that's that's that's awesome.
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: I'm looking forward to that.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: That's so cool.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: That's so cool.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: I I'm proud of you, man.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: You're somebody that made a bold decision that you know, lots of stress, lots of ups and downs for sure, but you aligned your actions and your life with what you wanted.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: And and seeing you get closer and closer to to that end goal is really cool.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: And I'm proud of you for it.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm glad to call you a friend.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: Um, I I just want to do one last call to action for agents out there.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: Guys, if there's if there's a certain lifestyle you want, you have to find someone that has it, that has attained it, and somehow get them as a mentor, hire them as a coach, partner with them somehow.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: Or it, you know, if it's somebody that's written a book or or has documented it on YouTube, watch it.
- 29:24SPEAKER_00: Like do what other people have done.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: You know, make the decisions that they've made.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: If if they're at a level, if they have a lifestyle you want, if they're at a certain level of success that you want to be at, you can literally do what they did.
- 29:38SPEAKER_00: You can do what they did.
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: And ideally, you have them as a mentor or hire them as a coach if that's possible.
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: Um, I'd encourage you to do that because the real estate industry doesn't have to be hard.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: It doesn't have to be grueling, it doesn't have to be a struggle.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: It can be fun, it can your income can grow exponentially, and the the people that you impact can grow exponentially.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: You just have to put yourself in the right, on the right path and do the work.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: Simple as that.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: And you're someone that's doing it, Neil.
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: Proud of you, man.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: Appreciate it, brother.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: I'm having a blast, and that's the cool thing, is is I think about the people that I surrounded myself with around full-time Arvine.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's there's some families out there that I just thank you so much for your help because I I can't believe I'm I'm here, you know?
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: And and you can do that in in any arena, whatever you're looking for, there's always somebody that's done it.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: And uh, and you can you can borrow courage.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: It's a it's a big thing.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: And you and I borrowed a lot of courage to get to where I'm at.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: And so um, and I'm I'm ready to lend some of that courage out if you wanna if you want to do what I'm doing.
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: Love it, man.
- 30:45SPEAKER_00: Appreciate you.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: You are definitely a great um asset for our industry.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: You're you're one of the good guys, you're one of the best guys.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: And so Neil Mathweg, host of the Agent Rise podcast and Agent Rise Coaching.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: Thanks for coming on the show, man.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: I I know you've got a hard stop, um, so I'll let you go.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: We'll do the we've done the rapid fire questions before.
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: So, you know, I imagine those answers haven't changed.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: So this will be a T, you know, like, oh man, I'm gonna have to go find one of those old podcasts to find out what he said before.
- 31:14SPEAKER_01: Yes, yeah, yes, go dig up dig up one of the old ones from the archive.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: Archive.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: Thanks, brother.
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, talk to you soon.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: Are you thinking bigger yet?
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: Are you thinking bigger?
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: I hope that you are.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: I hope that you, if nothing else, even if even if you're like, that's great, I don't know if I can do it, fine.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: Like we we're gonna work on that.
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: You know, that that that's a problem.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: That's that's not awesome, but we can we can overcome that.
- 31:41SPEAKER_00: We can work on that.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: You first have to define what you want your life to look like.
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: Okay, if you if you love buying or if you if you love helping buyers and you love showing them homes and writing the offers and stuff, great.
- 31:55SPEAKER_00: Then let's dial that in and figure out how to scale the shit out of that.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: But if you don't, if if if showing homes and writing offers and listing homes and going on appointments is a means to an end, well, what's the end?
- 32:09SPEAKER_00: Is it revenue?
- 32:10SPEAKER_00: Is it is it income?
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: Uh, do you want the income to be based on your activities or do you want to start leveraging others, like a team leader or a business owner, a brokerage owner?
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: You know, there's other ways that you can get revenue that you need in this industry.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: So think bigger.
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: And look, guys, you're not on your own with this.
- 32:29SPEAKER_00: If you guys want to DM me on Instagram, if you have some ideas and you just want to bounce some ideas, I'd be happy to help.
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: I mean, I can't give you three hours of my time, but I'm I'd be more than happy to reply back and kind of help you walk through whatever it is you're thinking about and give you some pointers and give you, you know, some of my experience that I've learned.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: Because I am, I'm now building a life that I always thought that I could.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: I just didn't know how.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: And it's become possible for me just over the last year.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: And it's incredible.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: So I've learned some things along the way.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: I'm happy to share that with you guys if you want to reach out.
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: Shoot me a DM on Instagram at MassiveAgent and uh be happy to help because this industry can be so draining, but it doesn't have to be.
- 33:12SPEAKER_00: Like Neil said, what if it doesn't have to be hard?
- 33:17SPEAKER_00: Seriously, what if what if it doesn't have to be this hard?
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: What if what if you actually can do the things you want to do and live the life you want you want to live and have the income you want and have it come in month after month, whether you're working or not?
- 33:33SPEAKER_00: You can you just have to put yourself in a position to make that happen.
- 33:38SPEAKER_00: You have to put yourself on the right path.
- 33:40SPEAKER_00: That requires some decisions and and some action.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: And we can help you with that.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: We can absolutely help you with that.
- 33:47SPEAKER_00: You just have to reach out now.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: Thank you guys for listening so much.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: If you would, if you got value from the show, please, I ask you to share it with other agents that you're connected with.
- 33:57SPEAKER_00: Whether that's social media or in your office, your broker, you know, other agent friends around the country, please share this episode with them so that they can get the same takeaways and value that you got today.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: Thank you guys so much for listening.
- 34:10SPEAKER_00: I'll be back next week with another episode of the Massive Agent Podcast.
- 34:13SPEAKER_00: Go sell some go sell some homes.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: Go close some loans.
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: Have a great weekend.
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: Take care, guys.
