- 1:39Speaker 2: Showtime. Here we go, and we are live. Okay, good Hello, everybody,
- 1:46Speaker 2: our friends on the YouTube's and people listening and watching
- 1:50Speaker 2: the playback. This is still Comfy with Jules and Nat
- 1:53Speaker 2: And on this week's episode, we are discussing the rom
- 1:58Speaker 2: com holiday favorite Love Actually. I'm your host of Pop
- 2:04Speaker 2: Culture Makes Me Jealous, Julia Washington, where we analyze pop
- 2:08Speaker 2: culture through the lens of race or gender and sometimes both,
- 2:11Speaker 2: and I'm joined by my regular co host, Natalie Katona,
- 2:16Speaker 2: who I will let introduce herself now.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Hi, everyone, I'm Navali Katona, host of All the Men
- 2:23Speaker 3: I've Tolerated Before, your weekly look at every day misogyny.
- 2:28Speaker 3: And although the holidays made me stress cry the entire weekend,
- 2:33Speaker 3: I did manage to watch Love Actually last night because
- 2:36Speaker 3: I felt like it fit the theme of just being
- 2:39Speaker 3: morosely disappointed in the holidays.
- 2:44Speaker 2: And if you were watching, because we are using a
- 2:46Speaker 2: third party app to stream, we don't know you're here,
- 2:50Speaker 2: so tell us in the comments say hello. And if
- 2:53Speaker 2: you're watching the replay, you can still respond to us
- 2:57Speaker 2: in the comments because we look at those things and
- 3:01Speaker 2: it's time stamped, so we know at which point you're
- 3:03Speaker 2: referring to. So to do a quick summary for those
- 3:08Speaker 2: who maybe don't watch Love Actually as much as I do.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Here's the description from IMDb. Love Actually follows the lives
- 3:16Speaker 2: of eight very different couples in dealing with their love
- 3:19Speaker 2: lives and various loosely interrelated tales, all set during a
- 3:24Speaker 2: frantic month before Christmas in London, England, and it starts
- 3:29Speaker 2: a lot of folks. We've got Emma Thompson, We've got
- 3:33Speaker 2: Liam Neeson, We've got Hugh Grant.
- 3:35Speaker 3: We have a British person there in the movie.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty much, and even like local to Britain fame
- 3:42Speaker 2: folks as well. Martin Freeman, isn't it when he's a
- 3:46Speaker 2: little baby? Posts the office pre Sherlock pre MCU. Jeez,
- 3:52Speaker 2: I loved him and I just love him.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a little baby.
- 3:57Speaker 2: So please don't ever play a gross character that I'm
- 3:59Speaker 2: a because that will drastically change my relationship with you
- 4:03Speaker 2: and I can't handle that. So I just kind of
- 4:08Speaker 2: want to dive in. There's eight couples. I counted seven.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Do they count the musician and his manager as like
- 4:20Speaker 3: the final couple?
- 4:21Speaker 2: That's kind of what I was thinking too.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Or Liam Neeson and that random blonde.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Lady Claudia Schiffer look alike, who actually was Claudia Schiffer
- 4:31Speaker 2: or his dead wife or the dead wife.
- 4:34Speaker 3: M hm, Now do you just do you want to
- 4:39Speaker 3: do it couple by couple or do you want to
- 4:42Speaker 3: do it stream of conscious?
- 4:45Speaker 2: You know, that's a hard that's hard because they're all
- 4:47Speaker 2: like the like the descripture says, they're all loosely interconnected.
- 4:51Speaker 2: So here's the couples. I have the Prime Minister and Natalie,
- 4:55Speaker 2: Jamie and Aurelia, Mark and Juliet. So the Prime Minister
- 4:59Speaker 2: Natalie that's Hugh Grant storyline. Jamie and Aurelia that's Colin Firth.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Mark and Juliet that is Kiara Knightley and her the
- 5:09Speaker 2: dude she did not marry. Yeah, Carl and Sarah that
- 5:13Speaker 2: is Rodrigo what is his last name? I forget his
- 5:16Speaker 2: last name? And Laura Lenny Mia and Harry that's Alan
- 5:20Speaker 2: Rickman and his subordinate just Judy and Jack that is
- 5:26Speaker 2: Martin Freeman. They are the couple who are the stand
- 5:28Speaker 2: ins for the porn which we can talk about that
- 5:30Speaker 2: at some point. I h listed Sam and Joanna, which
- 5:34Speaker 2: is the little boy who's now grown as an adult and
- 5:38Speaker 2: his love interests that we all, Yeah, he's so cute.
- 5:45Speaker 2: And so those are the eight couples I heard, the
- 5:47Speaker 2: seven couples I have. And then of course you do
- 5:49Speaker 2: have Billy Mack and his manager, which I guess you
- 5:51Speaker 2: could totally qualify because at the end he is like,
- 5:54Speaker 2: turns out you're the one I fucking love because I
- 5:56Speaker 2: just spent the last forty years with you exactly.
- 5:58Speaker 3: And here's the thing, Bill Night, only man I trust
- 6:01Speaker 3: in this movie. He's the only one ever telling the truth.
- 6:05Speaker 2: I wanna say. He's so honest. His character's so honest.
- 6:08Speaker 2: And what's interesting is that when I was watching the
- 6:11Speaker 2: twenty year anniversary special with Diane Sawyer, they talk about
- 6:15Speaker 2: how he was just a stand in because that character
- 6:18Speaker 2: hadn't been cast yet, so he was just a stand
- 6:20Speaker 2: in for the table read, and he did such a
- 6:23Speaker 2: brilliant job. They were like, hey, do you want the role?
- 6:26Speaker 3: How dad? They reduce Bill Ny to the stand in.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Lisa, And you know, he's this accomplished theater actor like
- 6:34Speaker 2: most British people are, because they have actual academies and
- 6:38Speaker 2: schools for teenagers to study this craft and it's like
- 6:41Speaker 2: a respected thing. And so yeah, I thought that that
- 6:46Speaker 2: was like the most interesting thing I learned from the
- 6:49Speaker 2: twenty year special from Diane Sawyer.
- 6:51Speaker 3: I love Bill Night in all iterations. Anytime Bill Nye
- 6:56Speaker 3: pops up in anything, I'm like, oh, is he gonna
- 6:59Speaker 3: get me like at the end of Love.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Actually, well, he really is a brilliant actor, which you know,
- 7:05Speaker 2: and he's the open er. He's he's what opens the
- 7:08Speaker 2: movie because they're redoing that song Love Is All Around,
- 7:12Speaker 2: but it's like Christmas is all Around instead.
- 7:14Speaker 3: The ghost of Hugh Grant opens the movie with this
- 7:17Speaker 3: entire monologue about how love, like Christmas, is all around.
- 7:22Speaker 3: And I'm like, in a very post COVID like meltdown
- 7:27Speaker 3: the world is ending mindset, I'm like, would Hugh Grant
- 7:31Speaker 3: still make this monologue about how love is in fact
- 7:35Speaker 3: all around because that's not what I'm seeing at Target. Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Well, and you know, they do have very specific locations
- 7:44Speaker 2: that they're talking about, right two thousand, so this movie
- 7:47Speaker 2: is in two thousand and three, so we're two years
- 7:48Speaker 2: after nine to eleven, and they do reference that in
- 7:51Speaker 2: the film because I think nine to eleven is one
- 7:53Speaker 2: of the few worldwide events where the entire world was
- 7:57Speaker 2: like the fuck just happened not cool, and so placing
- 8:03Speaker 2: it at that sort of space of the airport, and
- 8:07Speaker 2: and and the airport has changed so much, and how
- 8:10Speaker 2: we behave in the airport, what we're allowed to do
- 8:12Speaker 2: and not do in the airport has changed so much,
- 8:15Speaker 2: and even since two thousand and three. I don't know,
- 8:19Speaker 2: but I think it's here's the thing. Here's the thing.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I don't know where we're gonna start, so I'm just
- 8:24Speaker 2: going to dive into what bothers me the most.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Oh Okay, I thought you were about to be like
- 8:28Speaker 3: a love actually apologist, Like I realize that in our
- 8:32Speaker 3: Ear of the Lord and Savior twenty twenty two, that
- 8:36Speaker 3: we have decided that love actually is trash. But I'm
- 8:39Speaker 3: here to tell you that I watch it every Tuesday
- 8:42Speaker 3: for the holidays season.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Listen. First of all, okay, I'm gonna address what you
- 8:47Speaker 2: just said. I do watch it on Thanksgiving every year
- 8:50Speaker 2: after with a huge glass of wine. Hello, Mario, we
- 8:53Speaker 2: miss you too. Welcome to the show. It is an
- 8:57Speaker 2: annual tradition. But here's the thing. Every year I find
- 9:03Speaker 2: something new where I'm just like, well, this is just
- 9:06Speaker 2: not great. This scenario is just not great. And this year,
- 9:12Speaker 2: and usually it's the porn the porn standing scenes because
- 9:16Speaker 2: you literally don't need these characters. They don't tie in
- 9:19Speaker 2: to anybody but Colin Fistle's friend whose name I forget,
- 9:23Speaker 2: who's sort of like this connector in a way, but
- 9:25Speaker 2: you really don't need them because they're not connected in
- 9:28Speaker 2: the same way as like some of the other storylines.
- 9:31Speaker 3: But yet they're the ones that I think are the
- 9:34Speaker 3: only ones that take time to form a connection where
- 9:36Speaker 3: they have things in common.
- 9:38Speaker 2: I don't know if it's frozen on all ends or
- 9:40Speaker 2: just mine and they're with us there we go, Okay,
- 9:46Speaker 2: so they're the only ones who are actually forming a relationship.
- 9:48Speaker 2: That's where you were going.
- 9:49Speaker 3: They're the only one, like you know, they're thrusting against
- 9:52Speaker 3: one another and whatever, but they're chatting about like their
- 9:54Speaker 3: hobbies and their mom. Yeah, and it'll say it's.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Super sweet, like the genuine talking like bro like.
- 10:02Speaker 3: When I've never seen anything more romantic than when they're
- 10:05Speaker 3: like cut her titties and he's like, okay.
- 10:08Speaker 2: I know, he's like hold on, but that he also
- 10:10Speaker 2: like do you mind? He also yeah, which I love
- 10:15Speaker 2: because the conversation of consent wasn't really happening in two
- 10:18Speaker 2: thousand and three.
- 10:19Speaker 3: No, Martin Freeman is our first intimacy coordinator.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Yes, he taught us all what we needed to know
- 10:27Speaker 2: this time around. Though what was really just like, oh
- 10:30Speaker 2: fuck no, was all of the workplace romances, yes, which
- 10:36Speaker 2: you know twenty years ago we were brainwashed into believing
- 10:40Speaker 2: that's what you were supposed to do to have a relationship,
- 10:43Speaker 2: to get booed up was shop around work, because where
- 10:47Speaker 2: else are you going to meet somebody.
- 10:49Speaker 3: In our capitalistic hell hole?
- 10:51Speaker 2: Uh huh. And the only one that isn't a subordinate
- 10:55Speaker 2: boss situation is Laura, Lenny and Rodrigo there colleagues, whereas
- 11:01Speaker 2: everybody else is a boss employee scenario.
- 11:06Speaker 3: It makes me so sad that that beautiful man's name
- 11:08Speaker 3: is Carl, Like, it just doesn't sit right back here
- 11:13Speaker 3: when you're trying to make love to a Carl.
- 11:17Speaker 2: There's a scene in when Harry mt Sally he don't
- 11:20Speaker 2: make love to a Sheldon.
- 11:21Speaker 3: A Sheldon Like, there's just like this sensation right at
- 11:25Speaker 3: the back of my throat when I was like Carl
- 11:29Speaker 3: that it's never getting sexier than that. And he's a
- 11:32Speaker 3: beautiful man, who gorgeous, who we don't see in movies
- 11:37Speaker 3: very often. I'm like, where is this man?
- 11:40Speaker 2: He's a Brazilian actor. I think he's a I think
- 11:43Speaker 2: he's primarily, you know, based in Brazil. I don't know.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Maybe it was taken.
- 11:49Speaker 3: I started The White Lotus last night, and The White
- 11:52Speaker 3: Lotus could use Carl from Love. Actually, it's a perfect movie.
- 11:58Speaker 2: For him in finale if The White lotuses this Sunday, right,
- 12:02Speaker 2: do I know? I don't know, Mario, if you're still watching,
- 12:05Speaker 2: you're the one who told me when the season finale was,
- 12:07Speaker 2: and I told you I would start watching it four
- 12:09Speaker 2: days before the season finale.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Do we only have one season or do I have
- 12:14Speaker 3: two seasons?
- 12:15Speaker 2: There's two seasons. Yeah, the second season started a few
- 12:18Speaker 2: weeks ago. And because I don't know how many episodes
- 12:20Speaker 2: are in each season, but I don't like to I
- 12:22Speaker 2: want to. I want to wait until the end of
- 12:25Speaker 2: until I can get through all. Guess it's coming the Sunday. Okay,
- 12:28Speaker 2: the season finale of White Lotus is coming the Sunday,
- 12:29Speaker 2: which means I will start season one on Thursday seven episode,
- 12:33Speaker 2: so maybe I should actually started Friday.
- 12:36Speaker 3: I I accidentally started The Sex Lives of College Girls
- 12:41Speaker 3: when they were in like episode four of season two
- 12:45Speaker 3: and I was like, fuck, now I have to watch
- 12:47Speaker 3: this like weekly at.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Least there's two episodes at a time as opposed to
- 12:52Speaker 2: one a week.
- 12:53Speaker 3: I have not caught on to that. I am as
- 12:55Speaker 3: they would call it a more on.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Okay, so I here's next question. Mm hmm, the Prime
- 13:05Speaker 2: Minister a predator or a really sweet story?
- 13:12Speaker 3: Do you know.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Did you think could come up ring?
- 13:18Speaker 3: Because here's my problem with Hugh Grant. I would love
- 13:23Speaker 3: my dream world, like if we could rewrite the timeline,
- 13:27Speaker 3: this is the timeline I want to be in. I
- 13:29Speaker 3: want Hugh Grant and Colin Firth to be these very bumbly, awkward,
- 13:35Speaker 3: overly polite, I don't know what to do with my hands,
- 13:38Speaker 3: let alone my face, Matt Like it's.
- 13:41Speaker 2: A dream, isn't that literally Hugh Grant in every rom
- 13:44Speaker 2: com minus Bridget Jones.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Correct. I just want Hugh Grant and Colin Firth to
- 13:49Speaker 3: have coffee together every day and just be like at
- 13:53Speaker 3: the waitress like that's all I want. But then we
- 13:57Speaker 3: have to remember that when you and I were very young,
- 14:00Speaker 3: you Grant was one of the very first sex addicts
- 14:02Speaker 3: that we were ever exposed.
- 14:04Speaker 2: To Poless Hurley, she took it like a chance.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Like I have justice for Liz Hurley. So then like
- 14:12Speaker 3: my mind's like, ah, he's always trigging me into believing
- 14:15Speaker 3: that he's a good guy, and here he is, like
- 14:17Speaker 3: fucking the help, but he's got those baby blues and
- 14:21Speaker 3: he's just bumbling bumble bumble. And there's something about their
- 14:27Speaker 3: first interaction where she says shit a series of times
- 14:31Speaker 3: and then it escalates to fuck yeah, where I'm like,
- 14:35Speaker 3: he's so cute in that interaction because there's like a
- 14:38Speaker 3: little like aha moment to him that makes me believe
- 14:43Speaker 3: that there was a genuine connection. And then he's so
- 14:46Speaker 3: awkward and I don't know what to do with my hands,
- 14:50Speaker 3: but I don't know where to place him on the
- 14:52Speaker 3: predator list.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Well because later, because we know that his sister in
- 14:56Speaker 2: the movie is Emma Thompson's character, and later when they
- 15:00Speaker 2: are sneaking into the primary school, she literally says to him, oh,
- 15:04Speaker 2: twenty years ago, you would have been his type. So
- 15:07Speaker 2: that establishes a massive age gap.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it sure does, It sure does. And they refer
- 15:16Speaker 3: to her as like the chubby girl is mad, and
- 15:20Speaker 3: they trying to make get like Hugh Grant shouldn't be
- 15:23Speaker 3: attracted to her, and I was like, she's the cutest
- 15:25Speaker 3: girl in the show, like, and it's.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Like when he's like, would we call her and she's
- 15:32Speaker 2: in the assistance like what that's a pretty sizable ass,
- 15:35Speaker 2: huge thighs and you're just like she literally says. Natalie
- 15:40Speaker 2: literally says I was dumped because my boyfriend thought my
- 15:43Speaker 2: thighs were too thick, and now everyone's calling her fast
- 15:46Speaker 2: like are you kidding me?
- 15:50Speaker 3: Meanwhile, Hugh Grant wants some thighs wrapped around his face,
- 15:54Speaker 3: like he's like, I can't wait to be crushed by
- 15:56Speaker 3: those thighs.
- 15:59Speaker 2: And not even fat or like like, she to me
- 16:03Speaker 2: looks like your average woman of that age.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Yes, honestly. The thing that I have the biggest problem,
- 16:12Speaker 3: I mean with the gorgeous face, yeah, beautiful to the
- 16:15Speaker 3: huge Grant romance is that I was like, I just
- 16:19Speaker 3: feel like it's really irresponsible for us to be making
- 16:23Speaker 3: national policy based off of you being fragile because Billy
- 16:27Speaker 3: Bob Thornton felt up the girl that you like. I
- 16:30Speaker 3: was like, but then we did dedicate an entire show
- 16:32Speaker 3: called Scandal around that concept.
- 16:36Speaker 2: And I think too, because there is this view that
- 16:39Speaker 2: America is the bully. I think for me, that's it's
- 16:43Speaker 2: always been deeper than that. It's always been like, you know,
- 16:46Speaker 2: Billy Bob Thornton hitting on Natalie was like the final
- 16:49Speaker 2: straw of like, you know what, you guys are not
- 16:52Speaker 2: good for us, so we're going to take a stand
- 16:54Speaker 2: as opposed to like it just being well, you know,
- 16:57Speaker 2: him being fragile.
- 16:58Speaker 3: And let me be clear, Even from when this movie
- 17:01Speaker 3: first hit the media, when they cast Billy Bob Thornton
- 17:06Speaker 3: as the president of these United States, I was like, yes,
- 17:10Speaker 3: I go, Billy bo Thorton is the representation of every
- 17:13Speaker 3: president we've had except for Obama.
- 17:16Speaker 2: How about how I have predator still wrong? Thank you, Mario.
- 17:21Speaker 3: I thought he was laughing because I'm so funny. He's
- 17:24Speaker 3: laughing because you can't spell.
- 17:26Speaker 2: We all know I can't spell. This is not new.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Oh, but Billy bald Thorton is our predator president. The
- 17:37Speaker 3: fact that he hasn't even tried to run for president
- 17:39Speaker 3: for me like blows my mind because I was like, no,
- 17:42Speaker 3: this is our truest representation of America and American men
- 17:49Speaker 3: in politics, unless you are Obama, who was a baby
- 17:54Speaker 3: angel and a ray of sunshine in my life. Everyone
- 17:57Speaker 3: else Billy Bob Thornton like, it's just out of now.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I get that. I totally get that, you know,
- 18:04Speaker 2: twenty issue years nineteen years ago, I was like, oh
- 18:07Speaker 2: my god, I love how he's so sweet about her,
- 18:11Speaker 2: and I love that he's like, you know, just so.
- 18:17Speaker 3: I don't know, I just thought of it pretecting her
- 18:19Speaker 3: from that guy that wears Angelina Jelly's blood. Yeah.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Is this so it's two thousand and three. Is this
- 18:24Speaker 2: the Angelina era for Bob Billy Bob Thornton.
- 18:27Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Hmmm. Interesting either way. Now, as a grown ass adult
- 18:35Speaker 2: who's had, you know, several instances that could be qualified
- 18:39Speaker 2: as sexual harassmen in the workplace, I'm not comfortable with,
- 18:43Speaker 2: like your boss being attracted to an employee, like I'm
- 18:46Speaker 2: over that a particular story trope, if you will.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Also, because I think this is a perfect segue into
- 18:55Speaker 3: how I don't like I haven't watched this movie since
- 18:58Speaker 3: Alan Rickman died, and it's because I didn't need this
- 19:01Speaker 3: movie to be part of my grieving process because I'm
- 19:04Speaker 3: mad at.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Him the whole movie and he and so for me,
- 19:09Speaker 2: that storyline was really hard because he's kind of like, well,
- 19:13Speaker 2: I'm just sort of going along following this woman's need,
- 19:18Speaker 2: where really it's like, sir, you're the boss, you'll have
- 19:22Speaker 2: it in your power to shut that shit down, but
- 19:25Speaker 2: instead you're letting her do it and being that person
- 19:29Speaker 2: who's like, well, I don't know what I'm doing because
- 19:32Speaker 2: I've never been been attractive to super hot women before.
- 19:36Speaker 2: What do I do now? And you're like, you shut
- 19:39Speaker 2: it down, You're the boss, you shut it down.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Well, and my whole thing is I was like, love
- 19:44Speaker 3: actually should have been my first like for way into
- 19:47Speaker 3: realizing that that's how easy it is to distract straight
- 19:52Speaker 3: men from their form they're like fully developed relationships. Is
- 19:57Speaker 3: like literally just sitting in a chair and like suggest
- 20:00Speaker 3: saying that your legs are open, that's enough for them
- 20:02Speaker 3: to throw their marriage away.
- 20:04Speaker 2: And buy you a gold necklace and.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Buy you a three hundred dollars necklace.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Like, honestly, Natalie, I wish it were that easy because
- 20:12Speaker 2: I used to be a very hot woman at one
- 20:14Speaker 2: point and no one ever bought me jewelry that expensive.
- 20:18Speaker 3: But did you basic attraction them? Before?
- 20:20Speaker 2: Lunch in a version of not necessarily like I just
- 20:26Speaker 2: pull on wearing a skirt situation.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I just combined basic instinct and fatal attraction.
- 20:33Speaker 2: But we all know, we all know what you meant,
- 20:36Speaker 2: we all known.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Close in the chair, it makes sense, yeah, Sharon Stone
- 20:41Speaker 3: in the chair, it makes sense.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Like literally, because because fatal attraction is a man's worst nightmare, right,
- 20:46Speaker 2: and basic instinct is like whatever, but.
- 20:50Speaker 3: The point is eye contact with him and then opened
- 20:54Speaker 3: her legs and Alan Rickman was like Emma Thompson, who yes,
- 21:00Speaker 3: rules me with rage, Like the idea that Emma Thompson
- 21:03Speaker 3: would ever be wronged like literally drives me to violence.
- 21:08Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, I'm.
- 21:09Speaker 2: So, do you want to hurt Eric Banna because he
- 21:12Speaker 2: cheated on her when they were married?
- 21:14Speaker 3: Eric Banna? How the fuck dare you? I'm coming, I
- 21:17Speaker 3: am coming. Do not walk these streets, Eric Banna. And
- 21:21Speaker 3: don't think that I'm gonna not scream at you. You're
- 21:24Speaker 3: not that good looking. You weren't the best looking person
- 21:28Speaker 3: in Troy. Stop it. I'm gonna find does he walking
- 21:36Speaker 3: these streets thinking he's say because I didn't know that
- 21:40Speaker 3: a he got to marry Emma Thompson, and like he like,
- 21:45Speaker 3: absolutely not, I am going to find him.
- 21:52Speaker 2: It was the late eighties. She actually recently just opened
- 21:54Speaker 2: up about how hard that was for her and what
- 21:57Speaker 2: it did for her something.
- 21:57Speaker 3: It's hard for me right now, Emma. It's hard for
- 22:00Speaker 3: me right now.
- 22:02Speaker 2: The other part that's really hard about that storyline is
- 22:06Speaker 2: that they have this really beautiful moment about Joni Mitchell,
- 22:10Speaker 2: and she's like, Joni Mitchell taught me to love like
- 22:12Speaker 2: you are welcome. And then and then the gift he
- 22:16Speaker 2: gets her is a Joni Mitchell, which is really thoughtful,
- 22:20Speaker 2: but not the thoughtful gift she thought, No, And that
- 22:24Speaker 2: makes me mad because it's like, well, what is like
- 22:28Speaker 2: you are perpetuating this. I'm a bumbling fool who only
- 22:31Speaker 2: thinks with my penis troupe.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Yeah. I love Joni Mitchell, and I credit Emma Thompson
- 22:38Speaker 3: to it because I'm obsessed with her, obsessed with her,
- 22:43Speaker 3: and she is beautiful and she's so wickedly smart and
- 22:47Speaker 3: witty and all of it that like, literally, Eric Bahermon
- 22:51Speaker 3: cannot walk these streets and not I'm going to give
- 22:54Speaker 3: him a piece of my mind.
- 22:55Speaker 2: She's too good for him. She probably was always too
- 22:57Speaker 2: good for him.
- 23:00Speaker 3: It's like, it's like, how, oh, who cheated on Mini Driver?
- 23:03Speaker 3: And I was like, that's it. I'm lining the world
- 23:05Speaker 3: on Damon. Do you know how we say Matt Damon's
- 23:12Speaker 3: name because they put him in that puppet movie Matt Damon,
- 23:15Speaker 3: That's how I say his name. I can't say his
- 23:17Speaker 3: name the correct way. And he cheated on Mini Driver.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Also a beautiful woman on the Mini.
- 23:25Speaker 3: Driver, Like, I will literally just light the world on fire.
- 23:29Speaker 2: About Convince turn it be his under his with his
- 23:32Speaker 2: talent agent, which ultimately tanked her career. For hot second,
- 23:36Speaker 2: I just finished her memoir by way of Celebrity book
- 23:39Speaker 2: Club and so they recapped it. So then I was like, well,
- 23:42Speaker 2: that sounds like an amazing memoir, and so I downloaded
- 23:45Speaker 2: it and read.
- 23:45Speaker 3: It honestly, like the fact that I still don't have
- 23:48Speaker 3: a chance with Mini Driver and Emma Thompson even though
- 23:51Speaker 3: they let the Eric Banners of the world and the
- 23:53Speaker 3: Matt Damon's of the world touch them. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 23:57Speaker 3: light this house on fire, Penelo, pack our shit, Well.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I don't need you to be homeless. But also if
- 24:05Speaker 2: you let your own shit on fire, it's not a
- 24:06Speaker 2: felon ase. So I also don't need you to be
- 24:09Speaker 2: a felon.
- 24:11Speaker 3: You know, when the violence hits, it hits. I tested
- 24:14Speaker 3: multiple people who were at you last night that the
- 24:18Speaker 3: mirror thought that Alan Rickman would look at a woman
- 24:21Speaker 3: that wasn't Emma Thompson ever filled me with violence from
- 24:26Speaker 3: my toes to my head. It very much felt like
- 24:29Speaker 3: when I thought I wasn't getting Taylor Swift tickets.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Who, by the way, a bunch of Swifties filed lawsuits
- 24:35Speaker 2: from thirteen different states against ticket Master about that whole.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Up, because make fun of us basedic bitches. We love
- 24:41Speaker 3: Taylor Swift all you want, but who's changing legislation. Who's
- 24:46Speaker 3: all of a sudden rock in the boat?
- 24:48Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I do want to add too, that Emma
- 24:52Speaker 2: Thompson Alan Rickman storyline in the end after the Christmas play,
- 24:56Speaker 2: and she's like, I caught you, you piece of shit,
- 25:02Speaker 2: and she's very emotionally distraught because this is her entire life.
- 25:06Speaker 2: That performance is beautiful one two, and then she has
- 25:10Speaker 2: to turn around and make her children feel loved and
- 25:14Speaker 2: supported and cared for. Like that scene in itself perfectly
- 25:20Speaker 2: encapsulates what it's like to have a full range of
- 25:23Speaker 2: emotions when you are a woman and a mother and
- 25:27Speaker 2: a mother with a family and a husband, like all
- 25:31Speaker 2: of it. Like I that scene gets me every time
- 25:34Speaker 2: because nineteen years ago, I felt the emotion I felt
- 25:38Speaker 2: for her. Fast forward nineteen years. I'm a mother myself.
- 25:41Speaker 2: I've had multiple relationships myself, and it's just you're there.
- 25:47Speaker 2: There's no better performance. You know.
- 25:50Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm gonna make Penelope right, Emma Thompson a
- 25:53Speaker 3: thank you card, because maybe that's why I decided to
- 25:56Speaker 3: uncancel Christmas and put the Christmas tree up, because Emma
- 26:00Speaker 3: Thompson had to be there for her kids, even though
- 26:02Speaker 3: Alan Rickman is an emotionally stunted asshole and Hanelai loves
- 26:07Speaker 3: the Christmas tree. So I was just looking at her crying, yeah,
- 26:11Speaker 3: and I was like, I'm gonna put the Christmas tree
- 26:14Speaker 3: up for you because it is not your revault that
- 26:17Speaker 3: everyone I shared name with is an emotionally stunted asshole.
- 26:21Speaker 3: That is not on you. He's not on you.
- 26:24Speaker 2: It's not her fault.
- 26:25Speaker 3: She's Yeah, so she's gonna write Emma Thompson and thank
- 26:29Speaker 3: you letter, and that's how we're gonna become friends.
- 26:31Speaker 2: I love that, Okay, so we talked to the Prime Minister,
- 26:35Speaker 2: we talked to Alan Rickman, and also.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson seem to have a very
- 26:40Speaker 3: strong marriage, and I think that that's what pisses me
- 26:43Speaker 3: off more because it's like it truly doesn't matter how
- 26:46Speaker 3: strong your marriage is if they get distracted.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and Senny, and how dare you get distracted because
- 26:54Speaker 2: you clearly love your wife? Like that was the other
- 26:57Speaker 2: part for me where it was just like I don't understand,
- 26:59Speaker 2: like you clearly are in love with Emma, Like what
- 27:02Speaker 2: is happening?
- 27:03Speaker 3: And how far would it have gone if she did
- 27:05Speaker 3: not know about the necklace because we knew where it
- 27:08Speaker 3: was heading right right? And then he's like, oh, I
- 27:12Speaker 3: guess I'm a dick. Do you think, Sir Alan Rickman?
- 27:16Speaker 2: Do you think do you think do you think was
- 27:19Speaker 2: he unighted?
- 27:21Speaker 3: I don't know. Oh, okay, I assume that they're all
- 27:24Speaker 3: knighted and to just avoid to avoid like insulting them,
- 27:31Speaker 3: they're all Sir Alan Rickman.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Oh my god, I love it.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Sir Colin Firth, even in the hot leather pants from
- 27:38Speaker 3: What a Girl Wants Sir Colin Firth.
- 27:42Speaker 2: All right, So it takes us to Jamie and Aurelia.
- 27:44Speaker 3: I love Colin Firth, and this movie just makes me
- 27:47Speaker 3: so disappointed.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Because again it's another employee, subordinate situation.
- 27:52Speaker 3: In another situation where she can't even communicate her consent
- 27:57Speaker 3: to you. Yeah, like you saw her boobs in like
- 28:01Speaker 3: a department store or barra and you're like, you are
- 28:04Speaker 3: exactly who will make my ego and my penus forget
- 28:08Speaker 3: that my girlfriend is fucking my brother right now?
- 28:11Speaker 2: Yeah, parts of me this time around were still like
- 28:15Speaker 2: haus is still really cute though, because he's just like
- 28:19Speaker 2: it shows that, you know, in Okay, I know you're
- 28:23Speaker 2: gonna rip me to shreds for this.
- 28:25Speaker 3: He's an apology tour.
- 28:26Speaker 2: I'm a pre prepared for that. But here's what I
- 28:28Speaker 2: love about their storyline. How it shows that you can
- 28:32Speaker 2: still sort of exist next to each other and feel
- 28:37Speaker 2: safe and comfort. And it's not like and so like
- 28:45Speaker 2: the you know how music is like the universal language.
- 28:47Speaker 2: It's like telling us that love is also a universal language, right, Like,
- 28:51Speaker 2: it doesn't matter that there's a language barrier. They can
- 28:53Speaker 2: parallel exist and still find comfort.
- 28:56Speaker 3: You sound like the parents that won't look like learn
- 29:00Speaker 3: and sign language when their child is deaf. It's like,
- 29:02Speaker 3: why do we have to he knows we like him.
- 29:04Speaker 2: No, that's I feel like that's different because they do.
- 29:07Speaker 2: They both do in the end, go and learn thee
- 29:10Speaker 2: oh there's language so they can communicate.
- 29:14Speaker 3: I just need you to know that the whole idea
- 29:18Speaker 3: that like the vibes will send me to love because
- 29:22Speaker 3: it's just your pheromones. Do you know how many times
- 29:24Speaker 3: I fucked a narcissist because the vibe felt good? I
- 29:27Speaker 3: was like, this feels okay, this feels like it won't
- 29:31Speaker 3: emotionally damage me for about three more months, so might
- 29:34Speaker 3: as well do it now. The pheromones. I mean, could
- 29:41Speaker 3: you imagine how easy it is to gaslight someone who
- 29:44Speaker 3: doesn't speak your language. You're just making up what that
- 29:47Speaker 3: person is saying to you.
- 29:50Speaker 2: But they're not talking to each other. That's the thing that.
- 29:53Speaker 3: They're just talking in the atmosphere.
- 29:56Speaker 2: They're near each other, existing around each other, and it's
- 30:00Speaker 2: not unsafe. I think that's the part that gets me.
- 30:03Speaker 3: So you're saying that Colin Firth gets to be a
- 30:06Speaker 3: romantic in this movie because he didn't sexually assault his housekeeper.
- 30:12Speaker 2: It's not even sexually assault hers that he like was
- 30:16Speaker 2: like in a position where he's not He's just not
- 30:22Speaker 2: a terrible person, Natalie, He's not a terrible guy. Like,
- 30:25Speaker 2: that's the bar.
- 30:27Speaker 3: Where's the bar in this situation?
- 30:28Speaker 2: I don't know where the bar is.
- 30:30Speaker 3: The bar is on the ground. You do know where
- 30:32Speaker 3: the bar is. The bar is on the ground.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Could have been. He could have taken his pain and
- 30:38Speaker 2: anger out on Aralia or anybody else, and he doesn't.
- 30:42Speaker 3: So he was a perfect, perfectly closed off, polite Brent Man.
- 30:46Speaker 3: And you're like, you know what, what a romantic Let
- 30:51Speaker 3: me get that bar?
- 30:51Speaker 2: Say did I say?
- 30:52Speaker 3: Did?
- 30:53Speaker 2: I guess I'm implying there's romance. Okay, let me.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Get that bar. Let me the bar is on the ground.
- 31:00Speaker 3: The bar is on the ground. Also on his end, too,
- 31:03Speaker 3: all he did was see her breast, and he's like,
- 31:06Speaker 3: and I will never think of anyone else again.
- 31:09Speaker 2: No, I think it started sooner than that. I think
- 31:12Speaker 2: it starts sooner than that for.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Him, with what with what context? Could have started sooner
- 31:17Speaker 3: than that.
- 31:18Speaker 2: When the what's her face introduces them, the person who
- 31:22Speaker 2: coordinates it, I think he sees her and goes, oh wow,
- 31:25Speaker 2: she's really pretty, and like, rather than being like Hugh
- 31:28Speaker 2: Grant's character, it's like I'm fucked. He's like more polite
- 31:32Speaker 2: and reserved about it.
- 31:37Speaker 3: So we're now ready to move on to that relationship
- 31:40Speaker 3: literally only being based upon him being broken up with
- 31:45Speaker 3: and her being pretty and accessible.
- 31:47Speaker 2: That's literally every relationship that starts after a breakup.
- 31:54Speaker 3: And is that where's that bar? So?
- 31:58Speaker 2: Instead of like, I'm not I'm not stead.
- 32:03Speaker 3: So, instead of using his cabin time to do circle
- 32:06Speaker 3: breasts and grow and reflect and be like why do
- 32:11Speaker 3: I date women who want to fuck my brother? Instead
- 32:15Speaker 3: he put he glombed all of what he wanted his
- 32:19Speaker 3: original girlfriend to be onto a woman who is just
- 32:23Speaker 3: there to clean his house and.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Make his I don't agree with that.
- 32:27Speaker 3: I did not even talk to her.
- 32:29Speaker 2: I think he's using the writing the novel to work
- 32:32Speaker 2: through his emotions and frustrations about that scenario with his
- 32:37Speaker 2: brother and girlfriend.
- 32:40Speaker 3: I think thriller murder.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Yes, I think he's My theory is is that his
- 32:46Speaker 2: girlfriend is the one a character that's like his girlfriend
- 32:48Speaker 2: who was cheating with his brother and his brother based
- 32:52Speaker 2: on I know, that's what writers do, That's what novelists do.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Great romantic like lead because he took all of his
- 33:05Speaker 3: anger and crazy and put it in a book instead
- 33:07Speaker 3: of killing his housekeeper, because that could have been the watcher.
- 33:11Speaker 2: I'm not saying instead of killing his housekeeper. I'm saying
- 33:14Speaker 2: that's what writers do. They take their emotions, they take
- 33:17Speaker 2: their pain, they take them.
- 33:19Speaker 3: Trying to find the bar and it's gone. It's just
- 33:23Speaker 3: like it left. Panelope, did you knock her around the bar?
- 33:29Speaker 3: Do you think Madela I did hear her knocket? God,
- 33:33Speaker 3: it's on the floor. It's on the floor. And I
- 33:36Speaker 3: love Colin Firth. I am t what was my favorite
- 33:39Speaker 3: part of Mama Mia? Fuck the rest of that movie?
- 33:43Speaker 3: A Mama Mia is watching Colin Firth look like a moron.
- 33:48Speaker 2: That's what he does in ninety percent of movies, because
- 33:50Speaker 2: think about him and Bridget Jones, yes, and.
- 33:54Speaker 3: That that is how they guesslight is Jewels by looking
- 33:57Speaker 3: like lovable dupices, because that's how Hugh Grant did it too,
- 34:01Speaker 3: because all you Grant did it too, And then he
- 34:04Speaker 3: cheated on Elizabeth Hurley.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Herself by doing movies like Nodding Hill and Love Actually
- 34:15Speaker 2: and whatever other rom coms.
- 34:17Speaker 3: And then do you remember how hard we made fun
- 34:18Speaker 3: of that sex worker? Was her name Diamond.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Oh I don't remember.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Anyways, I get her picture is seared into my brain
- 34:28Speaker 3: because did we make fun of Hugh Grant for cheating
- 34:31Speaker 3: on Elizabeth Hurley. No, we made fun of how this
- 34:35Speaker 3: sex worker looked and that she was able to bag
- 34:38Speaker 3: Hugh Grant. It's how they get us with the whole Like,
- 34:45Speaker 3: I'm just a dupist. Watch me try to wedge into
- 34:48Speaker 3: these rock and roll leather pants, Amanda Vines. I love
- 34:53Speaker 3: Colin Firth. I'm always on team Colin Firth. I love
- 34:57Speaker 3: to watch him bumble around. But like, I feel like
- 35:00Speaker 3: their story is the.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Laziest Okay, okay, that's fair, which begs me to ask,
- 35:11Speaker 2: who is the least cringey comple I.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Told you it's a porno couple.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Oh that's right, you did say that.
- 35:17Speaker 3: I love the porno couple. I think that they That
- 35:20Speaker 3: is actually what a meet cue is.
- 35:23Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, And technically I wouldn't even classify them as
- 35:29Speaker 4: like one of those weird workplace romances because they're clear,
- 35:32Speaker 4: like because in that business you're always on different sets.
- 35:36Speaker 3: So this is the first time they've encountered one another
- 35:39Speaker 3: out one.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Yeah, in this scenario, they are colleagues though, yeah, in
- 35:43Speaker 2: this time and place, they are colleagues. Oh so I
- 35:45Speaker 2: didn't even have them classified as colleagues. When I was
- 35:47Speaker 2: listing off my situation the situations, I was thinking of
- 35:51Speaker 2: Harry and Mia Maya, Mia whatever, Yea, Carl and Sarah,
- 35:56Speaker 2: and then I was thinking of the Prime Minister Natalie.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:00Speaker 2: No, so there's actually more because then there's just Judy
- 36:05Speaker 2: and Jack.
- 36:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a porno couple. They're the actual ones who
- 36:10Speaker 3: are like, this is funny, we have to be naked,
- 36:13Speaker 3: and like, let me remind everyone in the audience that
- 36:17Speaker 3: not Colin Firth, because I don't think he would ever
- 36:20Speaker 3: be able to pull it off, but Colin Farrell when
- 36:23Speaker 3: they were shooting. No, it wasn't about Colin Ferrell. It
- 36:26Speaker 3: was another one of my heart throbs. When they were
- 36:29Speaker 3: filming the Alexander movie, Bell Kelmer used to throw the
- 36:34Speaker 3: lighting so he could rub up against a naked Angelina
- 36:37Speaker 3: Jolie Moore. I remember that being a headline. Like, I'm like,
- 36:42Speaker 3: so we're just talking about this, that's so gross and
- 36:47Speaker 3: now we have intimacy coordinator.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Yeah, but also I'm curious. I don't know a whole
- 36:52Speaker 2: lot about the industry and how pornography has made. I
- 36:57Speaker 2: just know that they have to take STD tests, That's
- 36:59Speaker 2: what I know. But I'm wondering how often do you
- 37:02Speaker 2: have stand ins like that for lighting and stuff like that.
- 37:06Speaker 2: I'm confused by that.
- 37:08Speaker 3: This was the watch through because this time he like
- 37:11Speaker 3: I actually clocked him mentioning that he had stood in
- 37:14Speaker 3: for Brad Pitt and I.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Was like, yeah, he yeah for like yeah, seven years
- 37:18Speaker 2: into bed or something like that.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Yeah, And I was like, so is it a porno
- 37:23Speaker 3: or are they honestly just doing stand in four sex
- 37:27Speaker 3: scenes that would be in a movie until the actors
- 37:31Speaker 3: can be on set and feel like they don't have
- 37:34Speaker 3: to do this for hours.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Oh that's a good, that's a great.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Because they also look like the like the porno with
- 37:41Speaker 3: the biggest budget I've ever seen there, like in Buckingham Palace.
- 37:46Speaker 2: So it's like maybe a period piece. Yeah.
- 37:48Speaker 3: So I'm like, I wonder if it's just like some
- 37:50Speaker 3: smutty like Bridgerton like Harriet Bees and they're like, well,
- 37:57Speaker 3: we're not gonna make I'm trying to think of another
- 38:03Speaker 3: distinguished English actress who isn't in this.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Movie from that era from two thousand and three. We're
- 38:12Speaker 2: just in general, oh, like Emma Watson or something.
- 38:15Speaker 3: So we're not gonna make Emma Watson be rubbed up
- 38:18Speaker 3: against by Billy Boyd for three hours. We're instead going
- 38:25Speaker 3: to bring in these stand ins, get the lighting right,
- 38:28Speaker 3: get the angles right, and get the shots right. So
- 38:30Speaker 3: when Emma Watson has to get naked, she only has
- 38:34Speaker 3: to be naked for twenty five minutes.
- 38:36Speaker 2: But also that's the assumption that you're working with a
- 38:39Speaker 2: cast where both leads are the same coloring, so you
- 38:42Speaker 2: can do pre lighting like that. Well, because like my
- 38:46Speaker 2: sister and I, you can't do the same lighting on
- 38:48Speaker 2: my sister and I and we come from the same parents.
- 38:50Speaker 2: You just can't.
- 38:51Speaker 3: It's a light.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Then they would have different stand ins, right, which actually
- 38:57Speaker 2: then brings to love Actually is not a diverse movie.
- 39:01Speaker 3: There's one black guy and his friend is trying to
- 39:04Speaker 3: fuck his wife, and I'm like, why Rick from Walking Dead.
- 39:08Speaker 2: There's two There's the one who's friends with Colin Thistle
- 39:11Speaker 2: who goes to the US who is the connector for
- 39:15Speaker 2: just Judy, and there's another one that he connects but
- 39:23Speaker 2: then yeah, yeah, and then the other Sam and Juliet
- 39:26Speaker 2: is that his name Sam. Yeah, no, Sam is the kid,
- 39:31Speaker 2: but yeah, I don't know how to say his last night.
- 39:35Speaker 3: But I literally PopEd my brainstorm out of the Colin
- 39:42Speaker 3: Thistle part of the movie because I was like, I
- 39:44Speaker 3: cannot sit through this.
- 39:47Speaker 2: But at the end, though, when he walks into like
- 39:49Speaker 2: a Wisconsin bar and he's like and they're like, oh my.
- 39:55Speaker 3: Jones, so I was sorry.
- 39:58Speaker 2: I was like, girl, I cannot tell you how many
- 40:01Speaker 2: times I have been in that scenario. Not the whole
- 40:03Speaker 2: we sleep naked in bed and you can join us shit,
- 40:06Speaker 2: but the whole like, oh, that guy's from England. Let's circle.
- 40:09Speaker 2: Let's circle and see what he picks.
- 40:11Speaker 3: The trope is completely valid. It's not the American part
- 40:15Speaker 3: that pisses me off. It's literally everything that leads up
- 40:19Speaker 3: to the America part where he's like sexually harassing like
- 40:23Speaker 3: waitresses and co workers, and then he's like bitching to
- 40:26Speaker 3: his friend. I don't understand why I'm single. I'm so
- 40:29Speaker 3: nice and charming. I told Brenda she was too fat
- 40:33Speaker 3: to date me anyways, but I'm a nice guy. Like
- 40:39Speaker 3: that's what I'm like. No, I was like, I will not.
- 40:42Speaker 3: This is like, this is like pre love is blind.
- 40:45Speaker 3: I shouldn't have to know that. This is how men
- 40:48Speaker 3: talk to about us to their friends. Yeah, you know,
- 40:53Speaker 3: I had to like I had to like poke it
- 40:55Speaker 3: out of my brain. I was like, we're gonna erase.
- 40:57Speaker 3: It is too traumatizing.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Do you want to talk about Mark and Juliet?
- 41:03Speaker 3: Is that Kiera Knightley?
- 41:05Speaker 2: Because that scene, it's say it's Carol Singers, the cue card.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Shit shows up in so much stuff, now a shit.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Like that's something that's cute. It's like, it's not cute
- 41:15Speaker 3: to betray your best friend by admitting to his wife
- 41:19Speaker 3: that you're in love with her.
- 41:20Speaker 2: You know what I appreciate about it is that he's like,
- 41:22Speaker 2: here's why I've been a dick. I'm letting it go now.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Like that's like, like, I appreciate that he's not like
- 41:29Speaker 2: continuing on. I appreciate that he's like, hey, I've been
- 41:32Speaker 2: a dick because it turns out I'm in love with you.
- 41:34Speaker 2: But I'm also gonna stop now because it's gonna ruin everything.
- 41:37Speaker 3: This is also where I have to bring it to
- 41:39Speaker 3: you that number one. I don't know what it is
- 41:42Speaker 3: about Kiera Knightley, but I hate her.
- 41:44Speaker 2: That's Okay, a lot of people do not everyone's vibe.
- 41:48Speaker 3: Everything about her face pisses me off. Before we knew
- 41:51Speaker 3: that Johnny Devil was an asshole, I believe she had
- 41:54Speaker 3: ruined the pirates of the franchize for me. Like there's
- 42:00Speaker 3: some there are just people. When I see them, I'm like,
- 42:03Speaker 3: their face pisses me off. Edward Cullen from An Kristen
- 42:09Speaker 3: Stewart from Twilight, they pissed me off, like my whole body.
- 42:13Speaker 3: Their face pops up and I'm like, I fucking just can't.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Josh Grobin. Also, I would punch Josh Grobin in the throat.
- 42:21Speaker 3: And he's done nothing wrong. I sure people do, and
- 42:26Speaker 3: he has the voice of an angel. But Sue Sylvester
- 42:30Speaker 3: one time said on Glee, fuck you Josh Groban, and
- 42:34Speaker 3: I was like, that's exactly how I felt the entire time.
- 42:37Speaker 2: Oh my god. Okay, So but back to Juliet and Mark.
- 42:43Speaker 3: So this is also where I have to break it
- 42:45Speaker 3: to you that I do believe that love can be
- 42:49Speaker 3: a choice, and there are certain situations where you pump
- 42:52Speaker 3: the break on it. I literally here a night late.
- 42:57Speaker 3: She literally says, you've never like hanging out with us,
- 43:01Speaker 3: So like he got hard once at a bar and
- 43:04Speaker 3: was like, I'm in love with my best friends.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Why he doesn't have to say anything to her for
- 43:11Speaker 2: him to be in love with her? Like that's I
- 43:13Speaker 2: think something like being in someone's presence doesn't necessarily mean.
- 43:18Speaker 3: No, it's creepy. It's creepy. I'm also over It's a
- 43:22Speaker 3: very usque concept where I was at the bookstore stocking
- 43:26Speaker 3: you and we've never had any interaction ever.
- 43:31Speaker 2: In your It's not that they haven't had interaction ever.
- 43:35Speaker 2: He's the best friend of her husband, so they've had situations.
- 43:39Speaker 2: They've like I interpreted it as they've hung out a lot,
- 43:44Speaker 2: and Mark is like, I can't do this because I'm
- 43:48Speaker 2: in love. Like every time I hang out with you
- 43:50Speaker 2: guys and she opens her mouth, I'm fulling more and
- 43:52Speaker 2: more in love with her, and it's hard. And so
- 43:55Speaker 2: it's like a it's like a defense mechanism to be a.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Dick, correct. But I do think that at some point
- 44:02Speaker 3: you just puhmed the brakes on it. You literally date
- 44:04Speaker 3: anyone else. Why that's the whole point.
- 44:11Speaker 2: But that's the whole point of his story because it's like, well,
- 44:14Speaker 2: you know, he it's like how long, it's I think
- 44:17Speaker 2: it's it's not that I think that getting caught is
- 44:21Speaker 2: the point for him where he's like, oh fuck, I
- 44:24Speaker 2: have to stop. I think that's what it is for him.
- 44:27Speaker 3: He's the Uncle Keith of this movie. Like, I've just
- 44:31Speaker 3: been living my life, planning a wedding, going to trivia
- 44:37Speaker 3: with my soon to me husband. His weird ass friend
- 44:41Speaker 3: doesn't speak to me and is often very rude. And then,
- 44:46Speaker 3: just like Uncle Keith did to Karen, he shows up
- 44:50Speaker 3: on my porch and he's like, have you not noticed
- 44:54Speaker 3: that surprise? I'm in love with you and you're meant
- 44:58Speaker 3: to be with me. No, it is, it's too You
- 45:02Speaker 3: should have taught I need someone to page pen badly,
- 45:06Speaker 3: because he would he would he would agree with me.
- 45:09Speaker 3: I know someone. I mean, I don't know if.
- 45:12Speaker 2: I don't know if he would agree with you specifically
- 45:14Speaker 2: about love is actually, but somebody on Twitter did say
- 45:18Speaker 2: to him like, oh my god, I'm obsessed with Joe.
- 45:20Speaker 2: I want this character to that, and Penn Badgley was like, no,
- 45:24Speaker 2: you don't. What is wrong with our culture that this
- 45:28Speaker 2: is deemed a desirable situation?
- 45:30Speaker 3: So and Joe from you is the extreme because he
- 45:35Speaker 3: actually murders and harms people. But I am also saying
- 45:38Speaker 3: that the Uncle Keiths and Rick in Love Is Blind
- 45:41Speaker 3: are as creepy because they're just like silently in your vicinity,
- 45:47Speaker 3: making up these love stories in their head about you,
- 45:52Speaker 3: and then one day you're just living your life and
- 45:56Speaker 3: they're like, ah.
- 45:58Speaker 2: But that's something that we are sold as women that
- 46:01Speaker 2: we should want. That you want somebody to notice that
- 46:05Speaker 2: you're adorable, to notice that you're intelligent, to notice that
- 46:08Speaker 2: you're all these things, and to come to you and say, hey,
- 46:11Speaker 2: I've noticed all of these amazing things about you that
- 46:14Speaker 2: no one else has noticed.
- 46:16Speaker 3: And I'm saying that now is the time where I
- 46:18Speaker 3: am always going to call this out as creepy. The
- 46:21Speaker 3: Uncle Keys of the World and the Rick that's not
- 46:25Speaker 3: his name, and the Love is Love actually movie but
- 46:28Speaker 3: he's Rick from The Walking Dead.
- 46:30Speaker 2: With a baby face in Love Actually.
- 46:34Speaker 3: They're creepy. They are creepy people, men who just sit
- 46:38Speaker 3: next to you glaring at you at trivia and then
- 46:41Speaker 3: one day show up at your house and then they're like,
- 46:43Speaker 3: you didn't realize that.
- 46:44Speaker 2: But glaring is a very specific connotation that that that
- 46:50Speaker 2: aligns with being creepy. Like, I don't think like glaring
- 46:54Speaker 2: is what Joe does. I think Mark is not glaring
- 46:57Speaker 2: because in that first scene when he's looking through his
- 47:00Speaker 2: video camera watching Juliette dance and have a good time,
- 47:05Speaker 2: he's literally like Laura Lenny's character literally pulls up to
- 47:08Speaker 2: him and is just like, are you in love with him?
- 47:10Speaker 2: Because she's sensing the love vibe and the adoration. It's
- 47:15Speaker 2: not glaring.
- 47:17Speaker 3: And I am saying that on the eve of my honeymoon.
- 47:23Speaker 3: If I'm just sitting around, you know, like, yeah, babe,
- 47:26Speaker 3: strain that popcorn. We're gonna put it round the tree.
- 47:30Speaker 3: And fucking Eric Banna shows up on my porch with
- 47:36Speaker 3: Q cards.
- 47:37Speaker 2: If Eric Banna shows up on your porch, We've got
- 47:39Speaker 2: other problems.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Right because I'm gonna get violent.
- 47:42Speaker 2: But it's not been known to be a good person.
- 47:45Speaker 2: I feel like it's like Owen Wilson.
- 47:47Speaker 3: If Owen Wilson shows up on my.
- 47:50Speaker 2: Phone, also a questionable person.
- 47:52Speaker 3: That questionable people. I can't who are we supposed to pick?
- 47:57Speaker 3: Timothy shall Am I he's just.
- 48:00Speaker 2: Follow Doomwatch. She's got a list of people who have
- 48:03Speaker 2: never been reported as being creepy or cheaters or all
- 48:07Speaker 2: that kind of stuff.
- 48:10Speaker 3: It took Jeremy Runner's wife like decades to be like, uh,
- 48:14Speaker 3: now that this Avengers series is wrapping up for him,
- 48:18Speaker 3: hope that Disney Plus show goes real. Well he pushed
- 48:21Speaker 3: me down the stairs or whatever he did that, I
- 48:24Speaker 3: just always blinked at as pushed me down the stairs
- 48:28Speaker 3: because Christian val did that to his mother in law once.
- 48:34Speaker 3: But I'm just saying, if Uncle Keith, if Chad Michael
- 48:40Speaker 3: Murray shows up on my porge and I'm just living
- 48:46Speaker 3: my life, and or or even because let's take it
- 48:50Speaker 3: back before we're at the que cards.
- 48:52Speaker 5: If I am sitting in Chad Michael Murray's garage studio
- 48:59Speaker 5: and I'm like, hop in that tape and it's all
- 49:02Speaker 5: these creepy close up shots of me, I'm concerned.
- 49:06Speaker 3: And she said through that whole movie, I was like, girl,
- 49:08Speaker 3: get up. I was like, women need to start having
- 49:11Speaker 3: more self reservation. I'm like, girl, get up. He's gonna
- 49:14Speaker 3: put you in that joke cube in his basement. Get
- 49:18Speaker 3: up because it's creepy. It is creepy for me to
- 49:21Speaker 3: believe that I'm just living my life, thriving, and you're
- 49:27Speaker 3: just like, so, because this is what Uncle Keith does,
- 49:30Speaker 3: and I'm pretty sure this is what Rick does too,
- 49:32Speaker 3: and you're just like soulking on the peripheral of my
- 49:35Speaker 3: success and my hot girl shit, and you're like, let
- 49:39Speaker 3: her do that hot girl shit and I'm in love
- 49:43Speaker 3: with her. But you've never actually like And this is
- 49:46Speaker 3: where it kind of differs with Uncle Keith because Uncle
- 49:49Speaker 3: Keith had like a father role in Karen's kid, so
- 49:53Speaker 3: they did have very intimate conversations. But with this Rick man,
- 49:59Speaker 3: and it's like, so, you've never sat down and talk
- 50:02Speaker 3: to me about my hopes, my dreams, why I'm so
- 50:07Speaker 3: good at hot girl shit whatever. You've just gotten a
- 50:12Speaker 3: little bit of a tickle in your dick and you're like, ah,
- 50:17Speaker 3: and now you're making it my problem. I have to
- 50:20Speaker 3: live for the rest of my marriage knowing that every
- 50:23Speaker 3: time you're looking at me, you're thinking creepy, salacious things,
- 50:28Speaker 3: and you have to be around because how am I
- 50:30Speaker 3: supposed to broach that with my beautiful new husband.
- 50:34Speaker 2: I think, I mean, I'm not like going to bat
- 50:38Speaker 2: for their scenario, but I do think that it's all
- 50:41Speaker 2: about perception. You're viewing it as creepy and him being
- 50:46Speaker 2: you know, pervy about his intentions, and not everyone sees
- 50:49Speaker 2: it that way, because when I watched the movie, while
- 50:53Speaker 2: I you know, do think it's shitty for him to
- 50:56Speaker 2: like pull her into the whole like I love you,
- 50:58Speaker 2: that's why I'm a dick and now I'm gonna be
- 51:00Speaker 2: done scenario. I don't think that he's sinister in his
- 51:04Speaker 2: intentions or his feelings for her, But you taught us
- 51:08Speaker 2: that we.
- 51:08Speaker 3: Never truly know that. And then One Tree Hill taught
- 51:12Speaker 3: us that even when you had intimacy with the moment
- 51:16Speaker 3: that you let them down, then Uncle Keith is creepy.
- 51:21Speaker 3: Uncle Keith, so reg is also creepy. This whole scenario
- 51:24Speaker 3: where we're just supposed to be interrupted in our lives
- 51:27Speaker 3: because some man has chosen to choose us. It's a
- 51:32Speaker 3: very creepy scenario because I didn't have any hand in it.
- 51:38Speaker 2: But that's the structure of our society. So in two
- 51:41Speaker 2: thousand and three, that's a very romantic thing because that's
- 51:44Speaker 2: literally what we are told as little girls, like wait
- 51:47Speaker 2: until you're chosen. It's gonna be your day soon, Like
- 51:50Speaker 2: how wonderful will it be when you get chosen by
- 51:52Speaker 2: this loving wonderful, amazing man. Isn't it so great that
- 51:56Speaker 2: this man saw you and saw you for who you
- 51:59Speaker 2: are are and chose you?
- 52:02Speaker 3: But then also, that's why love actually has made other
- 52:06Speaker 3: people uncomfortable For the last twenty years. We watched it
- 52:10Speaker 3: and we're like, that's cute this Christmas, and then we
- 52:14Speaker 3: watched it in our mid twenties and we were like,
- 52:17Speaker 3: wait a minute, none of these people should be together
- 52:21Speaker 3: at the end of this movie except for maybe the
- 52:24Speaker 3: porno couple and the second graders. And then the whole
- 52:29Speaker 3: sexualization of children is like, why are third graders dating.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Again? It's a you know, our culture does loves to
- 52:38Speaker 2: do that whole like, oh, they're so cute their boyfriend girlfriend,
- 52:41Speaker 2: and they don't. We don't allow for kids of opposite
- 52:44Speaker 2: genders or non gendered to be non gendered one into
- 52:48Speaker 2: two to just form relationships that won't lead to romance.
- 52:52Speaker 3: But this show is called still Comfy Folks because we
- 52:55Speaker 3: took a movie from two thousand and three and wait, nambley,
- 52:58Speaker 3: would you just want a man to never speak to
- 53:01Speaker 3: you ever? But then one day show up on your
- 53:03Speaker 3: porch and be like, I'm obsessed with you, and I'm
- 53:05Speaker 3: like No, we've all watched you.
- 53:09Speaker 2: Now. We've all watched you now. But because years ago
- 53:13Speaker 2: you was still just but a novel. I think you
- 53:16Speaker 2: was a novel fifteen years ago. When was it published?
- 53:19Speaker 3: Right, That's why we do the still comfy part where
- 53:22Speaker 3: it's like, are we still comfortable.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Not even ten years ago?
- 53:26Speaker 3: It can it's still comfortable. We've all seen love is
- 53:29Speaker 3: blind all, we've all been through things collectively. Yeah, but
- 53:35Speaker 3: like Emma Thompson is the only person who can do it.
- 53:39Speaker 3: If Emma Thompson wants to watch this video and watch
- 53:42Speaker 3: how hard I went for her about Eric Fanna and
- 53:44Speaker 3: when that's a woman who's gonna protect me till the
- 53:47Speaker 3: end of my days and show up on my porch,
- 53:50Speaker 3: she's more than welcome. Rick from The Walking Dead, No,
- 53:56Speaker 3: absolutely not.
- 53:58Speaker 2: Well, what that twenty spec twenty year anniversary special with
- 54:01Speaker 2: Diane Sawyer highlighted was just how much people still love
- 54:05Speaker 2: this movie. So that leads us into you know, we
- 54:08Speaker 2: know this film didn age. Well, there's homophobia, there's transphobia,
- 54:11Speaker 2: there's fat phobia, there's lack of diversity, but people still
- 54:19Speaker 2: love this movie and go hard for this movie.
- 54:21Speaker 3: I need all of the apologists to come for me
- 54:24Speaker 3: in the comments, because I only hang out with people
- 54:26Speaker 3: who have taste like I do, where they're all like,
- 54:29Speaker 3: that's a weird movie. It's a weird movie. And I'm like,
- 54:34Speaker 3: you're right, like we you know, we grew up, we
- 54:37Speaker 3: all went through some relationships ourselves, and now we're like,
- 54:40Speaker 3: love is not actually happening this Christmas.
- 54:46Speaker 2: And so I am singing this Christmas but that song
- 54:49Speaker 2: isn't in the movie because I.
- 54:50Speaker 3: Can't remember the Bill Nime song. I can't remember it,
- 54:54Speaker 3: and I've tried to wreckon. I've tried to. I'm like,
- 54:57Speaker 3: I know that it ends instead of love. It's like
- 55:01Speaker 3: love is all around, but it's Christmas is all around.
- 55:05Speaker 3: But around is in the middle of the phrase because
- 55:07Speaker 3: it ends on Christmas. That's why he keeps fucking it up.
- 55:15Speaker 2: I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in
- 55:17Speaker 2: my Christmas is all around us, and so the feeling grows.
- 55:22Speaker 3: Oh, there it is. And you know what, Bill Nye
- 55:28Speaker 3: was all like, this is some crack of shit, and
- 55:31Speaker 3: that's why he's the only honest man in this movie.
- 55:34Speaker 2: Have you seen him in About Time?
- 55:36Speaker 3: Yes? About Time is the correct way that time traveler's
- 55:40Speaker 3: wife should have gone. That is actually a beautiful love story.
- 55:44Speaker 6: So sad because all.
- 55:46Speaker 3: Of the time travel shit, and like all of the
- 55:49Speaker 3: sadness and all of his like obsession over keeping their
- 55:52Speaker 3: love story all live. Does it happen until they're already
- 55:57Speaker 3: in like an established soul name situation? Shit, he doesn't
- 56:01Speaker 3: go back to Rachel McAdam. Is it Rachel McAdams in
- 56:05Speaker 3: both movies? Yeah, he doesn't go back to Rachel McAdams.
- 56:11Speaker 3: When she's four years old, it was like, hey come here,
- 56:15Speaker 3: well and he I mean, hey, daddy, husband over here.
- 56:19Speaker 2: They he can't really like there's more control, and about
- 56:22Speaker 2: time they have more control out where they go. I
- 56:24Speaker 2: think it's more than just a love story between Rachel
- 56:26Speaker 2: McAdams and that guy who is very translucent. I think
- 56:31Speaker 2: it also is a love story between father and son.
- 56:34Speaker 3: The translucent Ginger.
- 56:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he's Eve, but I can't remember his name of.
- 56:40Speaker 3: He's friends with my new soulmate, Emma Thompson. You're gonna
- 56:44Speaker 3: have to get it together. You can't just call him
- 56:47Speaker 3: the translucent ginger while I'm keeping Emma Thompson safe.
- 56:51Speaker 2: Not to justify it, but people have called me some
- 56:54Speaker 2: pretty horrific things. Based on my racial identity. So I
- 56:57Speaker 2: feel like it's I mean, if I struggle, it's it's okay.
- 57:02Speaker 2: I don't know if that's fucked up. I shouldn't have
- 57:04Speaker 2: said that, right.
- 57:05Speaker 3: Because, as you know, I was knee deep. I was
- 57:09Speaker 3: elbows deep in the Love is Blind comments after the
- 57:12Speaker 3: Internet turned against the nib and they were like, cold's
- 57:16Speaker 3: a cute white man. Clearly he was in the right,
- 57:19Speaker 3: which I also feel is like love actually in a nutshell,
- 57:22Speaker 3: Like all of these cute white men said a thing,
- 57:25Speaker 3: so they must be right. Like so anyways, I was
- 57:32Speaker 3: reading comments because I hate myself and this beautiful I
- 57:36Speaker 3: didn't click on your profile, honey, So if you're watching,
- 57:40Speaker 3: please don't take this seriously. And if you cry yourself
- 57:43Speaker 3: to sleep tonight, I'll send you a T shirt. But
- 57:47Speaker 3: she wrote on zen nips Instagram posts, She's like, I
- 57:53Speaker 3: really just feel like Zanim could have taken it better
- 57:55Speaker 3: that Cole didn't find her attractive, because I've been a
- 57:59Speaker 3: Ginger all my life and do you think I'm everyone's preference?
- 58:02Speaker 3: And I'm like, oh, you really hit that point right
- 58:05Speaker 3: out of the ballpark.
- 58:07Speaker 2: I mean, it's completely different. Gingers aren't a race.
- 58:10Speaker 3: At all at all.
- 58:15Speaker 2: You know, I would like to actually see an updated
- 58:18Speaker 2: version of Love actually, because what I do think the
- 58:21Speaker 2: movie does do well for those of us who are
- 58:24Speaker 2: hopeless romantics, which is not necessarily Natalie in this camp,
- 58:28Speaker 2: but it does leave you feeling like kind of warm
- 58:31Speaker 2: and fuzzy if you remove all of the issues, if
- 58:34Speaker 2: you transport yourself back to the two thousand and three
- 58:37Speaker 2: ram com vibe, because it's the first of its kind
- 58:39Speaker 2: to tell multiple stories in a romantic comedy scenario. And
- 58:44Speaker 2: being this stupid, hopeless romantic that I am, I do
- 58:47Speaker 2: walk away being like, fuck, I just would love to
- 58:50Speaker 2: be in love in a pure and innocent and sweet
- 58:55Speaker 2: sort of way.
- 58:55Speaker 3: We did do it in a very cute way when
- 58:58Speaker 3: we took four Weddings and a few funeral and made
- 59:00Speaker 3: it a same guy.
- 59:01Speaker 2: It's the same writer, I know.
- 59:04Speaker 3: So he's clearly taken a women's class or two. I
- 59:07Speaker 3: don't know, maybe he's spoken to his mom and sisters
- 59:10Speaker 3: and it was like, hey, what creeps you out and
- 59:13Speaker 3: what doesn't when it comes to dating.
- 59:15Speaker 2: Well, four weddings in a funeral came like ten years
- 59:18Speaker 2: before Love Actually, the mini series, Oh that's that's Mandy
- 59:23Speaker 2: Kayling the mini series Mindy Kayling, I thought you meant
- 59:28Speaker 2: the movie because in a funeral Bridget Jones, what's the
- 59:32Speaker 2: other one, they're all this guy who wrote Love. Actually no,
- 59:35Speaker 2: I thought that Doddinghall, that's the other one.
- 59:38Speaker 3: When Mindy Kaylen took the concept of four weddings and
- 59:42Speaker 3: a funeral and she made it into a mini series
- 59:45Speaker 3: and even included the cheating affair moment, yeah, it's like
- 59:52Speaker 3: how I could never get on board with the book
- 59:55Speaker 3: series and the movie series something borrowed because snow White
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: from One Tree Hill, who's Whitney Commings best friend and
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: I love her, so I'm sorry I can't remember your
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: name right.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: Now White from One Tree Hill.
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: Not One Tree Hill, Once upon a Time.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: Jennifer Goodwin.
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: Jennifer Goodwin is how Jennifer Goodwin just like because she's
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: the main character, she never takes responsibility for it because
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: our main characters are like in rom coms, are like
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: just unbath theomable. And then when like Kate Hudson shows
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: up and she's like, clearly my boyfriend is here, and
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: she's like no, just just chicking, like like I literally
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: just saw a TikTok about it. I was like, man,
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: I hated that movie and I could never read the books,
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: even though I guess the sequel is about Kate Hudson's
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: character doing hot girl shit.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: I mean I mean yes and no, I mean she
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: because the book. What bothered me about the book to
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: screen adaptation on that one is there are there is
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: a whole chapter where Jennifer Goodwin's character does go home
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: and it's like, what the fuck is going on in
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: my life? And I think it's her mom. It's just like, bitch,
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: here's the reality check you need, and you don't get
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: that in the movie.
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: So I think, what like love actually perpetuates? Is this
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: myth that if it's love, it just automatically gets to
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: be okay? And I think when Mindy Kaylene updated like
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: Four Weddings and a Funeral, we got to see more
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: of the I made a choice, it turned out to
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: be an icky choice. There have been icky consequences, and
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: now I am working through these consequences. Yeah. So I think, like.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: Hugh Grant, there's a lot of elements of love actually
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: and Ford and Mandy Kaylee's the Weddings in a Funeral, right.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: And but there's also room for all of these things
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: to develop where because love actually is just this like
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: weird Hodge Dodge vignette movie. It's just like Emma Thompson
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: forgave Alan Rickman and maybe You're tummy doesn't feel great
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: about it?
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: Did she though? Because I feel like she's my house
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: scene where they pick him up from the airport, she's
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: like fuck her and like welcome back, assle.
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: I think she did the like the I'm forgiving you
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: for the kid's forgiveness.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: See, I didn't get that vibe. I did not get
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: that vibe.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: It's something about like the kiss on the cheek and
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: still meeting him at the airport or whatever. You can
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: tell that they're not separated, and you can tell that
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: she's like still trying. So she did the I'm gonna
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: forgive you this much so I can be in the
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: house with you.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: I don't know, I didn't get that vibe. I've done
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: a lot of things for my son, for his dad,
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: but it's definitely not been like a you know what
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: I mean, like the whole picking up from the airport,
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: like and I'm sure Drew's done the same for me too,
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: Like he like we literally had a scenario where they
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: picked us up from the airport and spent the day
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: together because we've been gone for so long and like,
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: so that way the boy in the in the and
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: his dad could have time together. But it wasn't like like,
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: if you saw us, you would think that we were
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: a family and a couple, which technically we were a family,
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: but we definitely had like So, I guess that's why
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: I don't see Emma Thompson's character in the same light,
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: because I've done the scenario where it's like our lives
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: are separate, but if you see us in a moment,
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: you wouldn't know that, Yeah, because we vibe as a family.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: Well. And I think my thing was is because she
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: does that switch right off the bat of like she's
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: confriended him and now has taken care of the kids.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: My brain logically went, oh, she did the I'm gonna
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: forgive you this much because we've got kids in the
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: room thing, and that has carried on into whatever their
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: stress and tense dynamic is. Yeah, So I think, like
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: I think Love actually is just this movie that perpetuates
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: this myth that like we don't question love, and I
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: think this is how we all ended up in toxic
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: relationships with the people that we share DNA with. It's
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: because you're not allowed to talk to the people who
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: love you about how their love affects you and like, Hi, Hello,
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: I'm a thirty four year old woman who lives on
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: my own and has my own brain and heart, and
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: I would like to have a grown up conversation about
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: why you can't say that to me?
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think a lot of that is because
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: there's this idea about family where you're just like, you
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: don't question it, you should be grateful because it could
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: be worse. And for those who have it worse, there's
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: this perpetuation of like, you can't you really shouldn't talk
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: sit about your family because it could be like mine.
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: And I think we transfer that into our romantic relationships.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: It's not tomorrow because today is Monday. It's not even
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: tomorrow if today was for Still Company, Tuesday, because it's Thursday.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: On Thursday, I am recording an episode about all or
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: nothing thinking and how that presents itself in my relationships,
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: and that starts in your families, Like we're all in
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: we all have each other's backs, and to a certain extent,
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: it's how you guess like kids into never telling their
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: teacher that you hit them once a week or whatever.
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: But when you take that into a romantic sense, like
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: love actually, where it's like, well, you know, I'll stick
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: around because Alan Rickman and I have been married for
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: thirty years, and like he didn't fuck the secretary or
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: Laura Lenny's relationship with her ill brother, yeah, and how
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: that is now going to affect her romantic relationships because
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: she can't be all in on Carl and he's probably
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: gonna expect a little bit to be like all in on,
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: which I'm sorry, I do need a reboot to see
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: if Laura Lennie eventually gets sticked down by Carl.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: They did do something special for Red Nose Day a
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: couple of years ago, post for Alan Rickman's death, and
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: I can't I.
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: Don't dicking down for Red Nose Day.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: Well, I don't know if they did something, but they
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: did like a like a where are they now type
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: of situation for Red Nose Day with the love actually
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: cast and the writer of the film, you know, wrote
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: scenarios for each couple. But and I think he did
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: something special for Emma Thompson because Alan Rickman was no
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: longer with us, but that does exist. But to the
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: Carl and Sarah scenario when she has him in her
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: flat and he's like in her brother's calling and calling
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: and calling and he's literally like will it make him better?
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: And she admits that it won't and still answers the phone. Anyway,
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: that was so that to me, that was just like
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: so heartbreaking because is it showed that she was to me,
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: it showed she was too afraid to accept the fact
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: that Carl could really actually truly be in love with
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: her as well. And then also she found comfort in
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: the toxic relationship she has with her brother and is
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: unwilling to move from that, or the unwillingness is stemming
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: from fear to move from that, and that broke my
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: heart because listen, if a hot Brazilian were to be like,
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: hey girl, I am so into what you are doing
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: with this, I'd be like peace, Mom, bye, dad, see
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: your family. I'm I'm sorry, I'm learning Portuguese. I'm out.
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: Who fell? That's too bad? How inconvenient?
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: Though I also don't want to I also would like
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: to be the hottest one in the relationship. That is
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: something that is very shallow about me. But I'm not
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: gonna say no if a person I find to be
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: very attractive to be like and it's and it's I've
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: almost said, rescue you from your toxic family, and that's
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: not what it is, but it's it's definitely the like.
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: I will build a new family with you that makes
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: you feel love and comforted.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: And I will complain about these bumbling, charming, British dufices
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: for this movie. But you won't hear me say a
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: bad thing about Carl. He handles that whole situation, and
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: I think, and I think it's because we don't know
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: where they end up at the end of the movie
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: that I can still have faith that he handled that
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: with grace and kindness and acceptance or whatever. Because we've
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: also been told that once someone takes their pants off,
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: there better be a little bit of business or else
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: you've disappointed someone to the point of no return to
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: where we made up a medical term about it.
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think that's why. I think that's why
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: Carl is my favorite.
- 1:08:53Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: He's so cute, he's so kind, he's you know, he's
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: for the most part silent in the with me, and
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: as we know, that's my preferred type. Quiet won't talk
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: to me and Louise, and so you won't hear me
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: talking about about carl or Martin Freeman because they're actually
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: kind men who invested in the women that they were seeking.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: Now, yeah, yeah, you know what. Actually, Martin Freeman might
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: be my favorite dude in the whole film because he
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: is genuinely interested in Judy and makes polite conversation and
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: is respectful during their entire situation in scenarios. And I
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: just feel like that's who Martin Freeman probably is in
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: real life, and it makes me happy because I love
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: him in the MCU, like I just fail me with
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: it there it is. I don't know if it was
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: me or you, but I did never that he.
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: Loved him in the MCU. No, I am always team
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: Proto bag Ins, mostly because I don't write fan fiction,
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: but the fan fiction in my head when I'm alone
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: in the dark in my is Martin Freeman and Benedict
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: Cumberbatch makes sweet, sweet love with one another. But he
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: still smogged the dragon and he still proto Baggins. The Hobbite.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: It just anatomolically works, and we don't really have to
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: go into the science of it, but it's gentle but
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: also a little scary, which is also kind of what
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: I did.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: You know what I love about Benedict Cumberbatch when he
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: and his now wife announced they were getting married. It
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: was just a simple statement made in the paper, and
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: like the announcement sections that used to exist when hard
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: pick card copies of papers.
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: Mario just gave me devastating news on accident. No, I
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: did not know that Christy Ali passed away today. What
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: I'm literally finding this out live on the Internet and
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: now we have to drop dead gorgeous, which is the
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: one I thought I was worried the most about doing
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: on this show. It did it age well, but I
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: quote the whole movie.
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: Yeah, he posted a comment on there and I just
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: now saw it. That's really sad. Might have to watch
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: Cheers tonight.
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: Oh my god, I can't. I can't.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: She's not even that old.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: No. Oh, she had seventy more.
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: She had cancer.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: That's really she had cancer.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: That's what according to Variety, she had cancer.
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: That's what Alan Rickman and David Bowie did to me.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: They didn't even give me like an Instagram inspirational heads up.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: I mean, Chapolic Cooseman did the same thing. Nobody knew
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: that he had colon cancer, and then you know, the
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: Internet ridiculed him for being so skinny, and then two
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: weeks later he passed from colon cancer.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: And I need everyone to know that we need to
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: collectively be kinder because I'm tired of getting blindsided because
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: the celebrities won't share their struggles with us because we're
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: not nice.
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, I'm going to say the collective Internet.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: I feel like I would have been very understanding and
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: posted and given her encouraging posts. I know I choose
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: to be kind on the Internet. If I'm going to
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: be a dick, I'm gonna side text my best friend
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: talk shit there. I'm not going to do that on
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: the Internet.
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: Oh can we do it Takes Two with Google?
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: I love that movie.
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: My sister and I watched it Takes Two for every day,
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: multiple times for an entire summer. That summer it came
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: out on VHS. We literally melted the tape.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: I watched it in the theater. Okay, so you know what,
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: let's wrap up so you and I can both have
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: some time to like deal with our emotions when it
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: comes to.
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: About William Neeson.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: You know what, that's okay, because that one has to
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: deal with grief and death. So we'll just you know what,
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: We'll just we'll just we'll.
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: Just I do have a comment about Liam Neeson. Okay,
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: because Liam Neeson's wife, Natasha Richardson from The Parent Trap
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: died tragically.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: And the very famous Red Gray family.
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: Yeah, because she died tragically in a skiing accident while
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: they were on vacation. When I do see clips of
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: him in this movie, I just my brain puts in
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: their situation, even though that's not the plot of the
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: movie at all. I'm like, and it.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: Happened years after this movie was filmed.
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: I know, And I'm like, poor Liam Neeson. Her son was.
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: Has said that he did you tell me this? Who
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: told me this?
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: Maybe it was Mario.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: Their son is said that when he misses his mom
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: the most, he puts on the Parent Trap because that's
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: the most like who she really was.
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: So I'm sad. Liam Neeson also is a really bad
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: guy in this movie. Yeah.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: I think he's sweet because of the age I was
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: when the film released. In the age he is in
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: the film, He's not the one that I'm drawn to.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: I will also say that this was the only time
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: I paid attention to the funeral slideshow, and when he
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: was clearly with that little boy, when that little boy
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: was a baby, even though it's his stepson. I was,
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: why are you so weird about this kid if you've
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: known this kid since he was an infant? And then
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: like Emma thompsays like, why are you being weird? And
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: he's like, you're.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: Right, yeah, yeah, when he admits that, you know, he
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: it was up to you know, his mom was the
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: one who was the one who always like had those
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: conversations with him. He never felt he needed to do that.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: And then now he needs to step up. Okay, so
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: we're just gonna rap because uh I can't focus because
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: I really want to read these articles about christiality and
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: because that's uh so Natalie tell everybody what we're all
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: the things about you?
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: Question?
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: Oh fuck? Yeah, okay, you sorry. I'm like, I'm like
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: having a hard time focusing. So yeah, go ahead. Are
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: you still comfy? What's your comfort level? Are you still
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: comfy with love? Actually?
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: No, maybe if Mindy Kleen wanted to redo it and
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: like make it diverse, maybe.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: An yeah in a mini series rather because an you.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: Can mini series rather so I could feel emotionally invested
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: into this obsessive love, because right now it's coming off
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: as really obsessive and not a natural love that fostered
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: between a bunch of people. I could be on board,
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: But twenty twenty two namily has seen you.
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: Well, and I think the vignettes are because vignettes were
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: so new in twenty twenty in two thousand and three,
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: and now we have a better handle on how to
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: succinctly tell vignette stories in one to in a two
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: hour period. I think if somebody were to step up
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: and update the script, I think it could be done,
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: like thinking, it could be better. So Mandy Kaylne Mario,
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: thank you so much. I appreciate you for telling us anyway.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: It's I was already having a hard time with grief
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: today because it's the anniversary of a friend's passing, and
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: Facebook reminded me this morning, so I was already in
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: a weird headspace about death. So, yeah, you know, you
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: don't have to apologize death.
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: Come. I'm sure. My sister tried to text me and
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: my phone was just on do not disturb. She is
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: usually the person who will say before you open your
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: phone another Glee actor has died, so you might as
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: well know now because I should be cursed.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's just it's just been a lot. It's
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: just been a lot. There's been a outside of celebrity death,
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: I've had a lot of death happen in the last
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: eight weeks in my in my life. So it's just
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: there's just a whole lot of that happening, and keeping
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: your shit together to you know, work through is not
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: always easy.
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: And to unless her extend my holiday cheer died over
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: the weekend. So I'm not comfortable with this movie. Yeah,
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: if if Minnie Kaylene or Emma Thompson want to call
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: me for how we could flesh this out and make
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: it better, I'm available if you're filming a sex scene
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: or a porno with plus sized actresses and you need
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: stand ins. I also felt like I could do that job, So.
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: I do want to add well for me, I want
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: to say I'm not super comfortable with Love Is actually,
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: and I've actually had issues with it probably going on
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: like eighteen years. But I do watch it to sort
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: of jump start the holiday season into the winter for
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: me at the end of Thanksgiving every year, and I
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: don't know if I'll ever stop doing that, if I'm
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: gonna be honest.
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: I yeah, I mean comfort movies become your comfort movies.
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: I'm trying to think what crampis. But also Elf, I
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: love Elf, which came out when I was older, so
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: that doesn't Also the Santa Claus, which we canceled doing
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: today so we could talk about Actually that's the Santa
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: Claus and Tim Allen Badman.
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: Because yeah, say, I feel like it's okay if we
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: don't give Tim Allan a platform, that's.
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: Right, because Tim Allan badman in case we didn't know.
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: And if you want to know, oh, it is Crampis Day.
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: Happy Crampis knocked everyone. And remember Crampus doesn't care kids,
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: if you're a productive drone to capitalism. He only cares
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: if you're an asshole so he can put you in
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: your set in his sack and beat you with a stick.
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: He's my preferred Christmas deity.
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: Nice Nice, Tell everybody where they can find you.
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: You can find the soft, soothing tones of my voice
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: every Thursday on to all the men I've tolerated before.
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: We are currently on our holiday break, so we are
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: not releasing any new tolerator. Contact but our season two finale,
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: Jules was on with a handful of our other favorite
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: guests and we talked about women's safety and what that
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: looks like due to our society. And this week. Last
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: week we did Now and Then for Still Comfy, and
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: this week we're doing Mama Mia. So you'll hear me
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: talk nicely about Colin Firth for Mama Mia.
- 1:18:50Speaker 6: That yeah, exactly that.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: And Tomorrow night friends over on Instagram, Natalie and I
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: will be discussing the next episodes five and six of
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: The Crown and that will be on Instagram Live at
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: four thirty episodes five and six. So far The Crown
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: has been a snoozefest and that the general consensus of
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: the Internet, so I feel like we're not alone. Also,
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: this week on pop Culture makes Me Jealous Tomorrow's excuse me.
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: Our episode that's dropping Wednesday is Loot. It's the about
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: the Apple Plus original series that stars Maya Rootolph and
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: the premises this woman receives millions upon millions upon millions
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: of dollars in a divorce settlement, and it rings familiar
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: of Mackenzie Scott Jeff Bezos's divorce, but it has a
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: very different turn and a lot of comedic elements. And
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: it starts, like I said, Maya Rudolph and Mikayla j Rodriguez,
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: I think we're on fungches bunch of people, a bunch
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: of people, super fun, super fun, super fun.
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: And you just plug that show tomorrow for Tuesday. Good
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: news everyone, I'm back in on The Crown, And you
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: want to know why because I come from a long,
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: long line of basic white bitches, and I love the Romanovs,
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: and I pretend to know a lot about the Romanovs.
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: So if you want to hear all the connections I've
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: made to the Grand Duchess Anastasia, you're gonna want to
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: tune in tomorrow on Instagram. Because they opened the episode
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: six of The Crown with murdering the Romanovs, and I
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: texted Jewels, like, you didn't warned me that all of
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: my Romanov trauma was gonna get triggered.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: Yeah, you know that he wasn't a very human humanitarian
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: right like he was? Actually?
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: Probably?
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: No. I have read and listened and watched so many
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: things about the Romanovs that I truly understand that he
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: was a little scamp who got put into a job
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: that he didn't deserve nor should he have had. The
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: tragedy for the Romanovs, for me is that there was
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: an entire family of young women and children and a
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: little broken boy who were murdered because their father couldn't
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: get his shit together.
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, Okay, that's fair, that's fair. Say he
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: is a has a. Yeah, he as a person probably
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: had it coming in that era was great. Yeah, but absolutely,
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: you're right. It's sad that the children were victim too.
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: I was sunk line and sinker to that Megryan Anastasia cartoon,
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: and when it came out that she may have been
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: found alive, I was like, I'm here, I'm waiting.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: Okay, friends, we will not be back with a movie
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: still Comfy until twenty twenty three, so stay tuned for
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: announcements regarding that. But you can catch us on Instagram
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: talk in the Crown and Natalie, why don't you say
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: our closing tag?
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: Hey everyone, the holidays are hard, so I just want
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: you to remember to stay cozy and stay company.
- 1:22:11Speaker 6: Be a next Ti
