- 0:02[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, everyone!
- 0:03[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to the Bomb Life podcast.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Melissa Volga, your host, welcome to the show.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_02]: This episode is literally going to blow your mind.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you guys, we're going to learn things that you can apply.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_02]: Like, literally right now with me during the episode to change your brain.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: It is that, that cool.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_02]: So before we dive in, hey, hey, welcome to the show.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: Make sure you like and review our show.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_02]: Give us five stars.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: If you feel that's appropriate.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_02]: You guys, the reviews and the stars and everything helps so much.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_02]: Leave a comment.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_02]: They do a lot for the show.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_02]: As always, go back and listen to all of the episodes.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_02]: You don't want to miss out.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: You don't want to miss out on just the knowledge and general getting to know me getting to know the show all the experts that we have on here more about my journey how to keep moving forward how to grow we're talking nutrition and mindset and muscle and growth and like today the brain all of it.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_02]: And we have great discount codes, too.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_02]: You don't want to miss out on our discount codes.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of our codes are very, very unique.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_02]: And companies don't give them out anymore.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_02]: They don't do discount codes like they used to, because the cost of products has gone up so much.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_02]: These poor companies, they're like, we can't even afford to do like an influencer code anymore.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_02]: Which I don't...
- 1:24[SPEAKER_02]: I don't blame them.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's like, I got a business.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_02]: I know what it's like.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_02]: So the codes that we do have are very special and very unique and hey, every 10, 15, 20% off that we get.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's totally worth it.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: So always go back and listen.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: And then as always, you guys follow on social media.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_02]: If you don't follow me, like, what are we even doing?
- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's Melissa Vogo.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_02]: And you can send me DMs over there.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: I have found that a lot of people like to contact me over there versus sending an email.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think they just like, it's more personal, whatever.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: And like whatever, I'm over there.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_02]: I hang out.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_02]: So send me a DM.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's Melissa Vogel.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: Follow me on Facebook.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: If you're not in our free Facebook group, you guys should get in there.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's our free VIP group.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: Go over to it's Melissa Vogel.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and you'll find it, you'll get a we'll put a link to it in the show notes to for you, but get into that free group.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_02]: We are running challenges.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_02]: We're helping you stay motivated to countable.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just a free thing that we do.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and if you're looking to change your journey and you're like, I don't know what I'm doing, but I know what I'm doing isn't working or if you got sucked into the massive weight loss and you're like,
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm getting a lot of that right now.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: You guys book a call, contact me.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: If you don't want to get on the phone, send me a DM, send us an email.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's Melissa Vogel at gmail.com.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_02]: Let's have a conversation around it.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe that means becoming a client.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it means joining my group.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it's just getting an online program.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it's just, hey, we talked for 30 minutes.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: And I send you in the direction that is of it for you.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: We don't know until you take action steps.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_02]: But if you don't want to get on phone, send me DM, we can go back and forth that way.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: It might take me a little bit longer because DMs have been getting flooded, but hey, I'll get to it eventually.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm hearing that a lot and people are like, I did this and I lost a ton of weight and that's great.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_02]: I went from 170 at someone I was talking to the other day and they're like, I went from 170.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm down to 150 now and they're like, I am not happy with the way I look.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: And she was saying how she's just been chasing this number.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: She's like, I got the number.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm in the 150s.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted to be 150s for like 15 years and I'm here and she's like, I can't stand how I look.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's not cool and I'm like what did you do and I'm not going to share all of her details and information, but there hasn't been weight weight lifted going on in there and she's like I'm actually weaker.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not carrying around all this weight anymore.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_02]: She's like, I'm weaker in my back hurts.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_02]: Like, she's like lifted up her arms.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: She's like, look, and now look, I'm waving my arm around.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_02]: Look, that shit moves, but I can also flex it.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: There's a big difference.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_02]: So you're not going to get your arm to stop moving and have flab, but if there's muscle in there, that should not go anywhere.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what we want, and she doesn't have.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: So if you find like, that's the case for you.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: Because you guys, you want to know what the secret sauce is.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: You want to know what the fountain of youth is.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's weightlifting.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_02]: It is weight training.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: And we want the body to match the mind.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: Today we're gonna talk about how the mind can match the body.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: So go to the show notes.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: There's gonna be a lot of information.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: You're gonna find more information on how to reach out to our guest, read the book and you're gonna want this book.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think I'm gonna make it the book of the next month for our busy to bomb group.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's,
- 4:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's that cool.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: And we want the brain to match the body and the body to match the brain, but how do we get there?
- 4:55[SPEAKER_02]: Especially if you're someone that's like, I'm not feeling motivated, or I feel like there's so much going on in my brain.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: I can't shut it off.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: this episode is for you.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_02]: So today we have Dr. Izzy justice item.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_02]: He is a sports neuro science scientist.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: He's an executive coach author, um keynote speaker like you name it this man does it and he is the chief neuroscience officer at neuro 580 580.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: Dr. Izzy justice has conducted more than 18,000, but he said on the episode it's closer like in 22, 23,000
- 5:33[SPEAKER_02]: EEG brain scans during real world performance, not in theory, but in the moments that matter.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_02]: So he's doing these brain scans on athletes professionals in a moment's doctors when it like matters.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: And across elite athletes, champions, golfers, UFC fighters, executive ex-letters, and he keeps seeing the same pattern.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: When clarity disappears under pressure, it's not a motion, motivation problem.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's a brain state shift.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's way to you here this conversation, you guys.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like getting goosebumps up my arms talking about again, because today I sat there and
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: Wow, holy shit.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: And he shows us neural hacks.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_02]: He shows us three neural hacks during this episode.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: We'll probably edit and fast forward a little bit because there are times where it's just dead air because I'm doing the thing that he taught me to do.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: So don't go by that time frame.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: Well, maybe we'll cut and edit a little bit shorter.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_02]: So you're not just sitting there listening to dead air while you're driving or listening to this episode but take the time and do them.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_02]: And he has these neural hacks in his book.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: His book is called Life Explained Chasing Ten Hurtz.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: And what ten hurts means like what the hell that means you're going to learn in this episode.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: So he's taken over two decades of applied work.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_02]: and it led him to develop neurohacks, these rapid science-based back techniques designed to quiet the mental noise and restore focus in real time.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: Rather than teaching people to like push harder in his work, it centers on simple truth, stress, alter's attention, and decision-making before we're even aware of it.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_02]: So born in Zimbabwe and shaped by both endurance sports and neuroscience doctor Izzy brings lived in science perspective to one core idea, performance doesn't vanish because people aren't capable.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: Think about that.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: It vanishes because they don't recognize when pressure has shifted their brain out of state required accesses.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: During this I think it was the second one we do three neuro hacks on the episode and the second one is I had that feel and I opened my eyes and you'll hear me say so I'm like okay I'm not going to lie I literally felt like I was starting to get high.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: Because the frequency of my brain and the hurts.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_02]: was dropping and coming to attend like you guys.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so fucking excited for this episode.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_02]: You have no idea.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_02]: I can't wait for you guys to listen to it.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to stop talking because we need to get to this episode.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's that good.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_02]: and you can apply these today.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_02]: So listen, listen how we explain this, listen how we explain how the brain works and what we can do in the control that we could take.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: All right, you guys, go to the show notes and enjoy the show.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: Dr. Isid Justin, so welcome to the show.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: Melissa, thank you so much for having me and excited to be here, excited to share some knowledge with your audience.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you are the Chief Neuroscience Officer at Neuro-5E.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you are sports, Neuroscientists, an executive coach like you're an author, keynote speaker.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_02]: Dr. Izzy, what don't you do?
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: But don't you do that's the amazing thing about being human and understanding how the human brain works is I think we're living under this false Paradarm that we are one thing or we are one dimensional and we always was to do one thing yet our capacity to be so many different things
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: If you look at some of the greats from centuries ago, like a physician, there were artists too, there were singers, there were painters, there were explorers, they were no well-defined professions, and I think once you understand how to make your brain curious about your experience, like how is this happening?
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: How can I entertain myself?
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: How do I make sense of the chaos around me
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: your physical capabilities, your emotional breath, and your intellectual capacity.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you have done like all these live, um, what do they call EEGs of functional brain scans functional brain scans and what you're finding out like we get pitched, you know, all the time, like people that have had and I was like reading about what you did and what you're
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: like high achieving people, you're saying they don't burn out because they're like weak and just like tired.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: Like there's actually a reason behind it with their nervous system.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm just blown away.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: My first, my first question I have to ask, how did you get started in this?
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: How did you start going down the path of the brain and like the nervous science?
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the honest answer is quite painful.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: I grew up in Southern Africa, and I grew up in a very dysfunctional family of the bees by my father and grew up outside of the home, as well, it was just a very challenging time.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: I was the sixth.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: out of seven children.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: So by the time I came along, I didn't have a voice in my own home.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: And so I was trying very hard from as far back as I can remember, Melissa, to make sense of the chaos around me.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing made sense.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: For example, I can give you so many.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't understand how a father could abuse a child.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm a father and
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: different from mom like you know your dad is the male figure is the strongest person in the house.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: You you expect the your dad to to protect you.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: So that didn't make sense to me and it didn't make sense to me that I was singleed out.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: So the journey to explore and understand this this chaos in my head.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: started way back then, but in terms of the actual neuroscience, it really came about because none of the other frameworks that I'd ever studied or explored experience made a complete sense to me.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: It made a little bit of sense, like even psychology, I view psychology not as wrong, and I may offend some people here, I don't mean to, I truly don't mean to, but I don't view psychology as wrong, I view psychology as an outdated science, and bad that, but that I mean
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know, in order to understand our lived experiences, we typically go by what we see and what we're here, right?
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: We don't look inside the human brain, like why is someone yelling?
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: Why does someone have this thought?
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: Why does someone exhibit this behavior?
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: And the analogy I gave everybody, let me share this analogy and then I'll pause and share a few more data points.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think upfront that might be very helpful for you and your audience.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: I always tell people, uh, imagine that you have a beautiful cabin up in the mountain somewhere, and it's via river.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's just gorgeous.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: And every morning that you wake up, you grab your favorite beverage, you go to the deck, and you just listen to the sound of the river right there, but there's a bag of trash that comes somewhere upstream.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: It gets lodged just outside of your cabin,
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a problem there.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: So you walk out, you grab the bag of trash, you bring your trash can, and enjoy the rest of your day.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: And you do that every day.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: Now, is the better solution not to go upstream and say, well, where is this coming from every day?
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: let me stop it there so I don't have to do this every day.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what neuroscience is.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: The brain really is upstream of everything.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: It is where you're passed and your future come together and it dictates how you think how you feel and the behavior that you have, your brain controls all the other organs like we have a heart, a liver, a kidney.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: These do essentially one thing but you're
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: is the quarterback of all of your organs and all of your motor function and Melissa what is really troubling to me and I don't use terms like that lightly is you know all of us I don't know how old you are I don't need to know how old you are but we've gone through school and you know elementary school and middle school high school college we've had so many good people come into our lives we've read books we'll listen to podcasts like
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: how coming all of those experiences, we will never talk about our brain, like the one thing we are going to use forever for everything, like somehow that was left out of it, so that doesn't make sense.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's the mission I am on is
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: is, you know, because I am able to look into the brain functionally and maybe support to make that distinction.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: So clinical versus functional, most of the research around the brain is on the clinical side.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_00]: Something is broken.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: Alzheimer's Parkinson's epilepsy, there's a neurological,
- 14:43[SPEAKER_00]: You don't do good or coach.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: You go to hospital and see something's broken.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: I don't my memories bad or I don't have a motor function or I shake or all those kinds of things How do I fix myself?
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a clinical scan.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's not what I did.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_00]: I did functional.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: So functional means regular people like you or me And if you're an athlete, I just want to make the free throw.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to kick the ball.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to make a drop shot You know many athletes When my phone blows up they don't call me because they got beat
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: by somebody else they call me because they got beat by themselves like they'll say hey doc like I trained and I was ready and like I made a bad decision over here and then I just choked over here and that's what drives people nuts is that in the moments that matter why can we not retrieve our knowledge, our skills, our training and so that's functional.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: So what I
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: but I've looked into the brains of people in the 10 seconds to 30 seconds, right before they want to do something amazing.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: That could be, if you're an athlete, make a free throw, kick a ball, throw a ball.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: You know, something that requires accuracy, more on the non- Athletic side, I'm trying to problem self, I'm trying to be creative.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: I work with a lot of artists who are right music and sometimes they have right as block.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: And so I started to ask myself these questions, like, is there a pathology in those 10 seconds, 30 seconds or someone does something?
- 16:19[SPEAKER_00]: Does a brain look a certain way when you do do something amazing?
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: And does it look a different way when you don't, when you when you underperform, when you under achieve?
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know honestly the answer to that question, like, I'm looking at the brain, I'm like, okay, what does it look like?
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: And the answer is not just yes, but tell yes, like every time, so I have this phrase like every higher human ability like what you can do and every higher human experience.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's all happening in like one frequency in the human brain, the brain has electricity.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: And the higher above that frequency you go, the odds of you doing what you're fully capable
- 17:00[SPEAKER_00]: And so I'll pause there and let you ask.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you wouldn't think that the higher frequency, the better, you know?
- 17:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's, I don't know, I don't know if it's because people always use the term like you wanna vibrate on a higher level or like we wanna vibrate up here and this person's vibrating down here, you want someone to match your vibration and you're saying it's like,
- 17:28[SPEAKER_02]: the exact opposite.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: Higher level are bringing as vibrating.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's not good.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: Go less.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's not good.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_02]: Fascinating.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so let me give you a scale that I think your audience will get.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: So the scale is zero to a hundred ish, okay?
- 17:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's a little more complicated, but for the purposes of this conversation zero to 100 is a very simple scale.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: electricity in your brain, which is electricity is a language of the brain.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: So from 0 to 5, which is very low, we are sleeping.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_00]: And if you think about it, that makes sense when you are sleeping, what is your brain doing?
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: Not a lot.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's not talking to anybody, it's not watching something, it's not writing something, it's not going anywhere, it's not reading anything.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_00]: So the work
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: Now, if you go to, let's say, 80, 90 hertz, that means your brain is working very hard.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: So when you're in that frequency, you're yelling, you're screaming, you're angry, you're mad.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_00]: The magic happens around 10, which is very low.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: So when I work with athletes, I say, when you're at your best, like, how are you feeling?
- 18:42[SPEAKER_00]: And they use terms like, I was very calm.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: Things felt a very slow.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_00]: They're not slow.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: No, so if we talk to any athlete in any sport, they will share that.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: Let's say, everything was so much bigger in my brain.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_00]: It was so, I've been not really fast.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: So that is reflective of a lower frequency in your brain.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: That means your brain is performing very high, but at a low cost.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_00]: So 10 hurts.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_00]: which is just above the sleeping is a calm state, calm, focused, happy, optimistic, confident.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: All these lay terms that we use, they're happening at that.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: The higher above 10 you go to 20 to 30.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: then there's more noisy in your head.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: Your brain is thinking about consequences.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: And for example, if somebody is shooting a free throw, when they shoot a free throw just before they shoot a free throw, their brain says, well, don't leave it short or someone's watching.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: You know, miss.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: Don't miss, you know, the coach is going to yell at me.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: Those thoughts are all 45 to 60
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: because they are retrieving memories that are negative.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: So your brain is working harder.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_00]: But if he's shooting a free throw and he's saying, oh, the ball's going to go right over that spot on the rim.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's a current state stimuli using your eyes.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_00]: So it's a low frequency, right?
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, so, so that's the magic is every higher human ability.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: and every high human experience is happening around 10 hertz.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: So, the next question becomes, well, how do you get people to be in 10 hertz?
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: Not all day long, not all life long, but literally in the 10 to 30 seconds before you want to do something amazing.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: And think about this, Melissa.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: It is such an easier ask of self.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: that in order for me to be the best version of myself, emotionally with my loved ones, intellectually at work, or physically as an athlete, in order for me to be the best version of myself.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: Not somebody else of myself.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_00]: I only need to manage the 10 to 30 seconds before that moment.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's an easier ask.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_00]: So, how much chaos you have in your life or what's going on?
- 20:56[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, you know, that you can do if you understand how the brain works.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: I was watching a real and this is making sense now more and more.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_02]: I was watching a really you did and you were talking about you started out by talking about human addiction and how it's essentially just a way for our brain to get down to a lower frequency, right?
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: So when people vape or sacks or drugs or whatever their addiction may be, you're saying that that's a way that's all our brain is trying to do is to bring that frequency down.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_00]: all of it, needing walking, talking is a chase towards 10.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_00]: So in my book, I just wrote a book, it's a best solo, it's my tenth book, life explained, the subtitle, the subtitle is called chasing ten herbs.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I make a claims, and I give a lot of research there.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: And in all of our human endeavor, whether I'm going for a workout, whether I'm talking to my kid, whether I want to play a game or watch a movie, I'm trying to chase that.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to get my brain to calm because I tend hurts.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_00]: The noise is so low that I'm experiencing my human experience.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: this is like when you're talking right now and you just said like working out or I don't know this is so true because when I work out like my brain it's done it's calm I'm just focusing on my sat and I wrap like my brain doesn't and it took years of like training this.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, before I'd sit there and be like, what do I have to do?
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: I could shut it off and now it's like, nope, like, and now I, that's one of the reasons why I think I enjoy working out so much.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a fight or a struggle for me.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's like habit because, and this is making sense.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's my brain's happy place.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: My brain is your brain hurts.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: That's my 10 hertz.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's the same thing with all addictions.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you look at and I'm going to go a little more bit here and I apologize, but go for it.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_00]: All addictions as well as all suicides.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like we've measured, we've done so much research on on on on suicide's both successful ones and not successful ones in.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: So whether you're an addict, all any gambling addict, sex addict, alcoholic, all these.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_00]: They only have one thing in common, like it's not their age or their race or their economic status or their educational status or where in the world they live, it's not that, the noise in the head is really high.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_00]: If you look, if you read suicide notes, I don't recommend people do that, but you know, if you really want to understand why someone would do that, one of the more common phrases is I just want to shut off the noise.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, like some version of that phrase is a very common in in in suicide notes.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: So, and honestly, I believe that people do that, they're addicted, they're suicidal, they're depressed, not on the clinical side, but because they don't understand how the brain works, they don't know how to lower that noise down.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so that's where in the book and our research, we invented these things called neurohack.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: a neural hat is something that you can do in those last 10, 30, 40 seconds, even a minute or two, before you want to do something amazing.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_00]: And let me just clarify the term performance.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: I know we associate that to athletic performance or workplace performance.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: The way that I define performance is any human experience that you want to be your best version.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: So I have two kids.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: My, my daughter just graduated college and
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: you know, she has a job up in New York City.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see her very often when she left home.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: So every time I did see her, I wanted to be the best dad.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to be fully present.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't want to check my phone.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't want my thoughts to be thinking about what I had to do tomorrow or yesterday.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: So that was my performance.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: We don't think of those experiences as wanting to be our best.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_00]: So I just want to make the point of that human performance is not something athletic or oh I sold it, my sales were with this much or I invented that or I wrote this amazing
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: lyrics to a song or those kinds of things, it can be just anything where you want to be the best version of yourself and I'm making the claim, Melissa, that in order to do that, we have to change the way that we have to think about that.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_00]: Because the brain is extremely powerful.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_00]: So when people call me, they typically call me bigger with phrases like, I don't have confidence.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, that's, that's a cliche because confidence is not a thing like your eye or your nose or your liver or your kidney or a neuron.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_00]: Right, so term that neurologically or neuroscience perspective what that means is that in those moments that 10 to 30 seconds before you want to be the best version of yourself.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_00]: Your brain is not retrieving.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_00]: All the experiences that are relevant to you to execute this next task.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_00]: So let's take a golfer, for example.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_00]: A golfer is an old athlete swooped loose confidence.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: They've hit millions of shots.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: But when they're in that 10 to 30 seconds before they have to hit a shot, they're remembering the bad ones, not the million good ones.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: So confidence is an access issue.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_00]: You'll bring isn't accessing the right inventory.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_00]: So in time, the higher you go from 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, you access to that gets lower.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's where optimism comes into.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: Optimism and confidence are the same thing.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_00]: These are English words, their labels, they're not real things.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: And that's where things like flow and being in the zone coming.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_00]: Those are not real things either.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a word.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: Now understand what they mean.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_00]: They were framed by good people who wanted to understand.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_00]: But everyone is saying, I want to get to ten hurts.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: I want to get to ten hurts.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's what they're really saying.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I can teach you and your audience, like two or three neural hacks and just to show you and they can do this just as there as a listening what ten hurts feels like and how they can do it in those in those 10 to 30 seconds a minute or two.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's all you need and just ask.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: I do want to do one for sure.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_02]: I have I have to ask a question though first because we I brief we briefly kind of talked about this and I want people to understand that you're not talking about like this woo stuff like these scans you said you're up to like 23,000 now.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just don't look like 20, 2000.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_02]: So this is actual data that you've collected that you can see my team and yes, the human brain is doing this like you have proof.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, so it's in the book.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's on the website.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_00]: You can actually see the scans.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: We have both of them.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_00]: We've written white papers like two and a half years ago we follow 10 medical doctors for three consecutive days.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: And we put a bat on the head and they had their medical cap over the bat so we saw that they had a device like that and we literally followed the 10 of them.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: So when's your Thursday, Friday?
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: So we have 32 million data points even to the state where process them all and we measure their brains.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_00]: And again,
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: The video is the actual data that you can go look at and and challenge It's all on on on the website neuro 580.com and and now that's more nerdy science stuff So in the book, I tried to write it in a more late term.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so that everybody the everyday person could Good sort of understand it.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_00]: Okay
- 28:52[SPEAKER_02]: I was wondering how you did them too, like how do you do these scenes and athlete when they're shooting a ball or something?
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: So this is a portable type thing that they can wear and share with them?
- 29:03[SPEAKER_00]: So in my view, in my view, and I've talked about this in my books and other podcasts and when I speak, our understanding, Melissa, of the human experience, fundamentally changed dramatically
- 29:19[SPEAKER_00]: So, I mean, that's a bold claim I am making, but I think what led to that was wireless technology, so we could look into the brain prior to that for a hundred or so years, but number one, you had to go to a hospital, you had to put a big helmet on with 500 wires coming, be very, very still.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: But now how many things can you do when you're very still, right?
- 29:45[SPEAKER_00]: And it was also, it was simulations that had you think about stuff.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_00]: When wireless technology was invented, it's something that goes over you had kind of like the hat that you're wearing.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm standing 10 to 12 feet away.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_00]: So there's plenty of room for you to move or think or or whatever you want to do.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_00]: that can stand behind you, beside you.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I know how to do this so that there isn't, you know, I'm a scientist, so we control as many variables as we can.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_00]: We avoid placebo effects, and we have a control group, and all those kinds of things.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_00]: And then I'm saying, okay, you know, in those 10 to 30 seconds, if I can get you to 10 hours.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_00]: Then whatever you are capable of doing, whatever you are capable, whatever inventory of life experiences that you have, the concoction, the cocktail of which would lead you to a new idea, a new thought, a good thought, a pleasant thought.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like in moments, I think you tell me you're a mom.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_00]: There are times when you are a mom and you just magically see the right thing to your kid.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like you don't know where it came from, right?
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: So I will tell you in that moment, you access something in your brain because you didn't go Google it in that moment.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_00]: It came from your inventory.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_00]: Those words that inspired her that helped her, I assume you have a daughter, sorry, three daughters, okay.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: So, I mean, that inventory is not Google's inventory, it's inventory of your experiences.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_00]: So accessing the right inventory at the right moment
- 31:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's what makes you feel alive.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_00]: So even when people say, oh, I just want to be in the moment.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to be present.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what does that mean?
- 31:30[SPEAKER_00]: That means in that moment, there's not a lot of noise in your head.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_00]: So you see more, you feel more, you taste more.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_00]: And in that low frequency, you're saying and enjoying that moment.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_00]: So again, I keep saying, all of us, human beings, whether we know it or not, we're chasing town hurts in almost everything that we do.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_00]: For you, it's working out.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_00]: For me, it's laying off or reading a book or listening to music or cooking.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_00]: In those moments, I find myself not thinking about a million thoughts in my head, but the moment that I am in.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_02]: And do we all have these natural moments?
- 32:09[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think that, like, for example, I can think of someone who's like, cuddling.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's not even like sex.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_02]: And they're like, I just, I had a client time in this.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, I just want to cuddle.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_02]: Like my brain, they said it.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_02]: My brain shuts off.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_02]: Do you all have a natural?
- 32:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, human touch is a very powerful neural hack.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: I actually have a video where, you know, if you look at it, you'll know the teams, the sports teams that I've worked with, because every time they have a timeout, all the players put their arms around each other's shoulders in a circle.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: because that touch of someone touching you in a timeout because we feel human, that sensory input of somebody else's hand on your shoulders is extremely powerful.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_00]: It delutes that noise, the noise is always consequential.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's always this happened or that could happen.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'd better do this and the brain is retrieving a lot of negative inventory.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_00]: But let's do a new article.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see what what 10 hurts feels like.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_00]: So okay.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'll I'll I'll I'll teach you three and these are three that you can learn right now and you can teach all three of your daughter of your daughters and your audience can can do them.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_00]: So first of all, don't start until I say go.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_00]: So I kind of yell that you there.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_00]: But because the reason I did that Melissa is because I need to explain it to you so that you do it correctly so that you can experience it.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_00]: So don't start.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_00]: So, when I say go very loudly, which is not now, in your mind, quietly, in your mind, I want you to count from one, so this neural hack is called 1010.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to count from one, not now, from one to 10, literally as fast as you can, don't mumble over a mumble, but just say the numbers as fast as you can.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_00]: As soon as you get to 10, go back to its one, the exact opposite way, literally as slow as you can.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'd drag the 10 to 9 to score the 10-10.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to go from 1 to 10 super fast.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I want you to go from 10 to 1.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: Super slow.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_00]: Are you ready?
- 34:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_00]: Go.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_00]: What are you going from 1 to 10 feel like to you?
- 34:20[SPEAKER_02]: In thing.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_01]: What are you going from 10 to 1 feel like?
- 34:24[SPEAKER_01]: Forever.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_01]: Did you feel what?
- 34:30[SPEAKER_02]: My body, by the time I got to like 8,
- 34:35[SPEAKER_02]: I felt myself take a breath.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_02]: I felt like I almost felt like my shoulders dropped for a second.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'd be curious to go back and watch the footage of me sitting here.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_00]: You should watch the footage because your jaw relaxed.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: Did it?
- 34:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_02]: And I just naturally close my eyes, too.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_02]: You didn't tell me to close my eyes.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_00]: So, what if I told you that that, that's single 10, 10 that you did.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_00]: How long do you take first of all to do that?
- 35:01[SPEAKER_00]: the whole thing.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, going to turn it back to one.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it didn't take me very long at all.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_00]: What if I told you that it is the cognitive equivalence of anywhere between five to about 20 minutes of traditional meditation, mindfulness, yoga, taking a walk, listening to music.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, not the physical, but the cognitive.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_00]: And if you go to the website, the video of what you just did is there, right?
- 35:26[SPEAKER_00]: So that is by intentionally increasing the frequency of your brain and then intentionally slowing down, you're acting essentially your vagus nerve and you're telling your brain, I'm not in real danger.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_00]: So as you were going from 10 to one, I'm sure that you felt things were getting slower in your head.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: Literally your face changed.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_00]: Because when you talk like there's an intensity in your face, which is fine, I'm not judging you at this time just reporting.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_00]: But as you were going on, like your face relaxed, like your entire job on completely, you should watch the video.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: So what I'm saying is that the cost of getting to 10 Hertz
- 36:10[SPEAKER_00]: is 10 seconds.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_00]: Now, did you need to buy something to do the 10, 10?
- 36:14[SPEAKER_00]: Nope.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have to go somewhere?
- 36:17[SPEAKER_00]: Nope.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have to change your clothes?
- 36:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like, get your gym clothes or something?
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_00]: So in other words, the ask is get to 10 hertz in 30 seconds to a minute before you want to do something amazing.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_00]: And the cost of doing that is about 10 seconds.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's do one more.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I want you, again, don't start until I say go very quickly.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, don't start.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_00]: Take your hands and put them together in front of your face like so.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're listening, these are her two hands are the palms are sort of facing each other.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_00]: Now, let's say your left hand is not going to move.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_00]: Your left hand is going to be a mountain that the fingers at the right hand are going to climb.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_00]: Don't start.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to climb the left the palm of the left hand without fingers six times.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_00]: The first three are going to be super fast, right?
- 37:08[SPEAKER_00]: The last three are going to be super slow.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_00]: When you do the last three, I literally want you to feel the fingertips of your right hand, of your right hand, feeling the palm of your left hand.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_00]: So it's called the three fingers.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to go three fast and three slow.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_00]: Are you ready?
- 37:23[SPEAKER_02]: Ready?
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: Go.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: How do you feel now?
- 37:27[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I'm not going to lie.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_02]: It almost feels like the very stages of getting high.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_00]: Literally exactly.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's exactly right.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what I started to go slow, I don't know.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_02]: I felt that shift again and like,
- 37:46[SPEAKER_00]: So when when people are high or doing eight types of drugs or those kinds of things, they're chasing 10 hertz.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_00]: They want the noise to go away.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_00]: Did I do it right?
- 37:57[SPEAKER_02]: Going up and down?
- 37:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_02]: And you just did the how long did it take for you to do that one?
- 38:02[SPEAKER_02]: I would maybe like 40 seconds, 50, not even a minute.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I would say about 15, 20 seconds.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_00]: I lose track of time when I'm doing it.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_00]: And that's another attribute of beating in the zone of being in the flow state is time expands.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like things are slow.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_00]: So any child, any person of any age, can do the ten ten, can do the three fingers.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_00]: How often do you have your hands on your Melissa?
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: I always, always, never not there.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_00]: So that means that wherever you are, I just talked to you two neurohacks, you can access the best version of yourself.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_00]: And the time that you need to do that is the moment prior in the 30, 40 seconds before you want to do something amazing.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: Or it's something triggers you like you're driving at someone cuts you off and you're bringing spikes right and that what what you can do the 1010 you can do the finger stuff and you can lower the noise down right let's do one more last thing right so.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_00]: Tell me out loud like maybe.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_00]: Orion or something that used you used to sing to your girls when there were babies do you have something in mind.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, hush, hush little baby.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_00]: I should be very okay.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_00]: I should do that too.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_00]: Now I'm going to give you 30 seconds.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_00]: And when 30 seconds is over, so I'll say start, I go.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_00]: And then I'll say, okay, stop.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_00]: So keep doing it until I say stop.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_00]: And start when I say go loudly.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to just close your eyes and harm that song in your mind.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_00]: Not out loud, but in your mind.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_00]: Are you ready?
- 39:44[SPEAKER_00]: So you should go back and watch this video because while you were doing that, you look like the baby.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there was just calmness in your whole body.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_00]: You looked very relaxed, how did you feel like to you?
- 39:56[SPEAKER_00]: It felt extremely relaxing.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: Now, do you need to buy something to do that?
- 40:04[SPEAKER_00]: Is there any location in the world where you cannot do that?
- 40:07[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, so I can't think of how much easier of an ask it is for ourselves in order for us to have a richer human experience.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_00]: We only need to manage the minute or so before we need to do something amazing.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_00]: There's too much noise in our brains to fix everything in our lives.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_00]: There's so many variables, I don't have money, I don't have a job, I'm not in a relationship, blah, blah, blah.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_00]: He's a big macro level problem, they're not going to go away.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_00]: We can't manage those, but we can manage the minute before we want to do something amazing.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_00]: When we want to perform our best, whether it's athletic, professional, or personal, right?
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: We know what those moments are.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_00]: I have a business meeting.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_00]: I have a game time, the game's going to start.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: I, whatever it is, we know those moments,
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: very clearly when we want to be the best version of ourselves and in those moments these are the kinds of ways because they're based on neuroscience now we know that ten hurts is magic.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_00]: every higher human ability and every higher human experience is happening around ten hurts.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_00]: So the magic, the simplicity, right?
- 41:20[SPEAKER_00]: The human experience is just get to that and I find when people do really good at what they want to do good.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's confidence and it has a trickle down impact on the rest of your day and the rest of your things.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_00]: So instead of trying very hard on everything or trying to be perfect at everything, just pick the times, the one or two times in each day that you want to be the best version of yourself.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_00]: And that's enough.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to say something weird.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_00]: It won't make sense and they're not made people that would actually say this in my lot of work.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_00]: But people need to understand that their average is good enough for average situations.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_00]: You average is good enough.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_00]: When you go to the bathroom, you don't have to be in ten hertz.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: When you're driving somewhere, you know, you don't have to be in ten hertz.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_00]: Let your mind want to go wherever it needs to go.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_00]: So, but, you know, your average is good enough for average, but get to ten hertz when you need to be the best.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_00]: And the last of getting is is ten fifteen seconds.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's the cost.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and this is like there's I work with very like high achieving professional CEOs and so many of them, you know, they have like a horrible day are there firing people are like things are going on and they pulled their driveway.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_02]: and they have to switch, you know, before they go in and now they're wife or husband and deal with kids and family and this would be so perfect for them to do just in that car and make that switch.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_00]: And all the newer science around this, you know, I know I timed up, but all the newer science around it is it's in the book.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_00]: So the name of the book is called Life Explained.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_00]: And the subtitle is chasing tenor.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_00]: So now the book and the title make make sense.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_00]: But the book is available, people can read about it.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_00]: The website is neuro 580 and EURO580.com, the literature, the science.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_00]: I encourage even the pessimist in your audience, go read it.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like, challenge it.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_02]: Well, just do one of these techniques.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah, holy crap.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_00]: And what other evidence do you need?
- 43:32[SPEAKER_00]: You felt it.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_02]: that was pretty cool.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god, Dr. Isi, this was incredible.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like one of the episodes that it's like, could be like changing for someone.
