- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:41Hi, it's Adam here. And in this episode of The
- 0:44Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a hypnosis session
- 0:47created for a client with very, very extreme levels of.
- 0:54Resting anxiety. We're talking about hyper.
- 0:57Vigilance. A state of adrenal fatigue that
- 1:01comes from just. Being in this.
- 1:03Heightened state of fight or flight for a long period of
- 1:08time. We're talking.
- 1:10Over a year of being in this state, which is not good for the
- 1:13body. You know, this kind of fight or
- 1:16flight response, this sympathetic nervous system is
- 1:19fine for a few hours. If you feel like there's a big
- 1:23danger or a threat, but. You don't meant to live like
- 1:26that as a permanent state of being so.
- 1:30This was less about one individual.
- 1:33Thought an anxious thought, like a phobia or anticipatory fear,
- 1:38but just their whole nervous system on high alert.
- 1:41So what you're going to hear in this session is a combination of
- 1:46certain modalities that have been proven to alleviate
- 1:52traumatic responses and this hyper vigilance.
- 1:56The first is called EMDR, which is eye movement desensitization
- 2:02and reprocessing and effectively.
- 2:06In a nutshell. You hold on to a thought that is
- 2:09traumatic or creating a exaggerated emotional response
- 2:15and your eyes go from left to right.
- 2:17Now you can enhance that by this kind of bilateral movement.
- 2:21So moving something from one hand to another hand.
- 2:23So. There's an element.
- 2:25Of that in the first section of this, then there is a process
- 2:29called Hevening. And recently I actually had
- 2:34Stephen Travers on on my podcast talking about Hevening.
- 2:39And I tend to use more of the linguistic talking forms of
- 2:44hypnotherapy, but Hevening is a very good complementary tool to
- 2:49kind of calm down the nervous system and effectively that is.
- 2:53Rubbing your own. Arms or or back of the head to
- 2:57create this kind of soothing response and it has a
- 2:59neurological impact on the body. And then the classic NLP patent
- 3:03interrupts. So there's three different
- 3:05modalities fused into one, and I think it would be useful for.
- 3:11Anyone with? Amplified emotions, whatever
- 3:14they may be. Now that might be anxiety, that
- 3:17might be really high levels of stress.
- 3:20But it could. Be overwhelming sadness or or a
- 3:23different emotion. So I would say the best way to
- 3:26get the most of this is to think of one specific memory from the
- 3:30past that still causes some kind of emotional trigger and one
- 3:35thought about doing something in the future that also.
- 3:39Causes a. Similar emotion, so worth
- 3:42thinking about those now before the session starts, so that when
- 3:46I ask you in the session to recall a memory or think of
- 3:51something, those are the things that come up.
- 3:55So to get the best out of this session, I would say find a
- 3:59quite comfortable place. The first section of this keep
- 4:02your eyes open and it's the final 2/3 which are more a
- 4:06combination of havening and hypnosis.
- 4:08The first bit is more that classic EMDR and it's helpful.
- 4:12To think of. Something that you can look at
- 4:14to your left and your right, so you've got a focal points when
- 4:17your eyes move back and forth, they're going from.
- 4:20The same thing. So you might see an object in
- 4:23front of you to the left and then an object to the right and
- 4:25then just skip from left to right and then find that rhythm.
- 4:29Obviously, this was created for a specific individual.
- 4:32And if you do have amplified emotions, you know, high resting
- 4:36levels of anxiety or stress, and you feel like I might be able to
- 4:40work with you individually to create some kind of a
- 4:43breakthrough. Then there will be a link in the
- 4:44show notes where you can schedule that free consultation
- 4:47call. For now though, find a quiet,
- 4:49comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 4:51Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 5:32you breathe in, just breathe in a relaxing feeling of calm and
- 5:40resourcefulness. And as you exhale, just feel
- 5:47like you're letting go of tension, of stress of worry,
- 5:56breathing in that feeling of resourcefulness and exhaling
- 6:01feelings of worry or anxiety. And with your eyes open, just
- 6:11fixate on a point at about eye level in front of you.
- 6:20Continue to find that rhythm with your breathing and
- 6:24breathing in a feeling of relaxation and resourcefulness
- 6:29and exhaling whatever your body would like to release.
- 6:39And I want you to think of a specific memory from your past,
- 6:47perhaps something then still triggers you emotionally, maybe
- 6:55anxiety, maybe guilt, maybe even something traumatic.
- 7:02And just know that this is a safe place.
- 7:08And I want you to hold on to that thought.
- 7:12Keep your eyes open and hold on to that thought, and when you
- 7:18can retrieve that thought and perhaps even echoes of the
- 7:23original emotion, just let me know by nodding your head.
- 7:33And as you hold onto that thought to begin with, just
- 7:38allow your eyes to find something to the left of you.
- 7:44Keep your head still and just glance off to the left until you
- 7:48find something and then glance to the right and slowly glance
- 7:57to the left and the right, back and forth, still holding on to
- 8:07that thought as it goes back and forth, almost like your head
- 8:17still, but you're in the middle of watching a tennis match or a
- 8:23ping pong match. Your eyes go left and right and
- 8:27back and forth and notice after a while they find that rhythm
- 8:34back and forth. But maybe you can notice that as
- 8:39you hold on to that thought, that traumatic memory, that
- 8:46moment of deep emotion from the past, I wonder if the emotion
- 8:53starts to drain away. I wonder if a block becomes
- 8:59unblocked. And I want you to find the small
- 9:05object that it's possible to pass from one hand to another
- 9:12hand, perhaps at the same frequency.
- 9:17That's it. Your eyes are scanning from left
- 9:21to right. That's it.
- 9:25And continue to hold on to that thought.
- 9:30And the harder you try to make it make you feel anxious or
- 9:34guilty or sad or traumatised, the harder it becomes.
- 9:41It feels like you're scratching ACD, so the CD doesn't play
- 9:44right back and forth, back and forth.
- 9:50And the harder you try to feel that original emotion, the more
- 9:55elusive it becomes. Just take a pause now.
- 10:04That's it. Just hold on to that thought
- 10:06again. If it feels that the anxiety has
- 10:10gone down, let me know by nodding your head and then try
- 10:18again. Try and amplify the anxiety,
- 10:23Amplify the original emotion. Feel like you're reliving that
- 10:28memory and when you're there reliving it, allow your eyes to
- 10:33go left and right. That's it, left and right and
- 10:41just feel the release happening. An emotional release has been
- 10:46built up. I just feel that it's about to
- 10:50be letting go, that the block is about to be unblocked.
- 10:58You've been building up all of these emotions for a long time
- 11:03now. I want you to imagine sometimes
- 11:13big earthquakes take hundreds of years just building up friction
- 11:20and friction and friction. And then one day they just allow
- 11:24all of that energy to be released.
- 11:29And I want you to think of these moments of the past as building
- 11:32up friction, building up energy, and what if it's time to release
- 11:39it? What if it's time to release it
- 11:43now? Because whether you think of a
- 11:49moment from the past or perhaps a moment from the future, hold
- 11:58on to an idea in the future now that hasn't happened yet, but
- 12:01could do, maybe even will do one day.
- 12:07And as you hold on to that thought, allow the eyes to go
- 12:11left and right and I'll speed them up.
- 12:14Left and right, left and right. That's it.
- 12:17Try and keep your head still as you go left and right, left and
- 12:21right, left and right. It might feel like a weird
- 12:25sensation in your mind as you continue to scratch that CD.
- 12:29And then when you hold on to that thought, the thought just
- 12:34doesn't seem to have the same emotional impact anymore.
- 12:42That's it, back and forth. Just place that item down.
- 12:48Now just place it down. And perhaps now when you try and
- 12:58think of that memory from the past or moment from the future,
- 13:05you either feel nothing at all or you feel like something has
- 13:12risen to the surface and you can allow it to be released.
- 13:24Breathe in and breathe out as we now go to a soothing level.
- 13:33Hold onto that memory or that idea that is causing this idea
- 13:39of loss or trauma or sadness. Only now the eyes don't go left
- 13:50and right. All I want you to do is put your
- 13:54hands on your shoulders and just start stroking your hands up and
- 14:00down. But as you do that, just allow
- 14:04your eyelids to close as you hold onto that thought.
- 14:11That's it. Just stroke your arms up and
- 14:13down. Do you feel the soothing
- 14:17sensation? Release, release all of that
- 14:24built up emotion. Not to bury it, not to sweep it
- 14:30under the carpet, but to release it.
- 14:31Do you feel a wonderful sense of soothing that this emotion?
- 14:41It's time to leave your body. You've been keeping it in your
- 14:48body and in your mind. It's time to release it.
- 14:54Allow it to be released. And maybe it's being released
- 15:00with this soothing sensation. As you continue to stroke your
- 15:03arms and your wrists, your neck and the back of your hand.
- 15:09Each sensation feels almost like it's brushing off this emotion,
- 15:17Like if it's in your hands, you're washing the sensation off
- 15:21your hands. That's it.
- 15:24And the harder you try to bring that emotion back, the more
- 15:30elusive it becomes as you imagine it changing, evolving.
- 15:38Maybe Think of that memory from the past, but now replay the
- 15:43movie like it's an animated cartoon.
- 15:48The details remain the same, but everyone is cartoon characters
- 15:54brightly coloured with silly voices.
- 15:58The memory is still the memory, but the feeling now changes.
- 16:03That's it. Keeps soothing and stroking and
- 16:07giving that comforting, reassuring feeling to your body.
- 16:14This is you giving unconditional love to yourself.
- 16:19Embrace it, feel it, that's it. There is something powerful with
- 16:28the sensation of a hug or a cuddle, a caress, and just do
- 16:33that to yourself as you give permission to release.
- 16:39That's it. As that memory evolves.
- 16:43Now imagine watching everything backwards.
- 16:49Starts at the end and ends at the beginning.
- 16:56It all happens backwards. That's it.
- 16:59Continue those strokes. Soothing sensations.
- 17:06That's it. Now, as you think of that
- 17:09memory, just mess it up. Have it go backwards.
- 17:15Have it go backwards, then forwards, then jump back and
- 17:17forth. Turn everyone into cartoon
- 17:22characters. Make inappropriately silly music
- 17:27like circus music or comedic music.
- 17:34Silly, funny music. That's it.
- 17:42And maybe think of that moment from the future.
- 17:45That would be traumatic. But now see yourself like you're
- 17:49looking at you in the moment. And I want you to see yourself
- 17:57composed, resourceful, because if you can handle an intense
- 18:11emotion, your brain figures out you can handle anything.
- 18:17That's it. Continue the feelings of rubbing
- 18:23and stroking. That's it.
- 18:26Feel like you're calming your nervous system down and it needs
- 18:33to calm down. It wants to calm down.
- 18:38It would like to calm down. That's in.
- 18:45Release it now. Release it in whichever way
- 18:50feels right. That's in.
- 18:58It's time to release it. And I want you to imagine now
- 19:07just shrinking down those memories, and the next time you
- 19:11think of them, you will know they happen, but it will feel
- 19:16like they happen to a different version of you a long time ago.
- 19:23Recall that memory from the past and they'll see yourself like
- 19:25you're a character in a small movie very far away as it feels
- 19:33like all of the emotion is dialled all the way down.
- 19:40All the way down. That's it.
- 19:43It happened, but it no longer bothers you.
- 19:48And anything that happens in the future, you can dial the emotion
- 19:51all the way down. And every time you soothe
- 19:55yourself, you're dialling the emotion down.
- 20:01All the way down, that's it. And you can stop the caresses
- 20:12and the strokes. Just relax your arms, take a
- 20:15deep breath in and on the outward breath just release all
- 20:19the tension in every part of your body.
- 20:22Make yourself comfortable. That's it.
- 20:30I want you to imagine a part of your brain that's been blocked.
- 20:38Perhaps you could imagine the calcification or crystallization
- 20:45of certain parts of neurons. And I just want you to imagine
- 20:54whatever that crusted block is is now dissolving.
- 21:00You've dissolved it, that whatever the block was is being
- 21:07released. Your body and mind already knows
- 21:12how to live without anxiety, but you don't want a future where
- 21:20you need medication to create those feelings.
- 21:25What if you create those feelings just by knowing that
- 21:29the the block has been released, but it feels like it's been
- 21:33released. Perhaps you can recall the time
- 21:38when there was a block bath or a block synced.
- 21:42Know what they took was one big push or plunge and the block was
- 21:48gone. And just feel that whatever that
- 21:52block is, feel with one big push, it's released and allow
- 22:01your body to act like that's true.
- 22:04Breathe the way you would breathe without any anxiety.
- 22:10Feel a wonderful sense of relaxation without any anxiety.
- 22:17Think the way you would think without any anxiety, because
- 22:24maybe this chapter needed to be there to teach you how to value
- 22:32what's really important. Love, connection, people and
- 22:43experiences. I want you to get a sense.
- 22:48Then you can extract all of the wisdom from what you've gone
- 22:55through so you don't need to relive it to become wiser.
- 23:04And if your unconscious is willing to do that, to extract
- 23:08the wisdom, but decide that this isn't a place to go back to, let
- 23:16me know by nodding your head. And maybe you've done that with
- 23:22a city or a country, a destination you visited, and
- 23:27that was enough. No desire to go back.
- 23:31And what if this feeling is OK in small doses of a few minutes
- 23:39or even half an hour, but it's not a place that you want to go
- 23:44back to. So allow the block to mean that
- 23:49you can move forward down. And in unblocking feel that a
- 23:57cup that was filled to the brim is now draining away, giving you
- 24:05all of the resources, the feel that you can cope, giving you
- 24:11energy, hope and positivity. And now if you were to try and
- 24:22think of those memories or future moments that were causing
- 24:27emotional overwhelm, I wonder if you could try, try and bring
- 24:33that emotion back and it's just not as intense as it was before.
- 24:40And what if each time you think about it, it gets less intense
- 24:44than the time before until you can think about it in the future
- 24:49with no emotion whatsoever? And what if your brain learns it
- 24:55can do that with all of the memories feels so overwhelming
- 25:00and all of the things in the future that feel outside of your
- 25:06comfort zone? Before long it just generalises
- 25:11it to everything and what was impossible feels possible.
- 25:17What was overwhelming feels manageable.
- 25:21What was the cause of anxiety now becomes a cause of
- 25:25excitement, or at least an evaluation that you can handle
- 25:31it, whatever it might be. So take another deep breath in
- 25:36through your nose and out through your nose, a nice long
- 25:42breath to release any remnants of anxiety.
- 25:47As very soon I will count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 25:49You will awaken feeling things will get easier.
- 25:57You will win with one victory at a time, one choice at a time,
- 26:04one decision at a time. You don't have to do everything
- 26:08all in one go, but do the things you thought you couldn't do
- 26:15until you can do them without any worry at all.
- 26:22And before long, all of it will become true.
- 26:26All of it will be manageable. All of it will feel completely
- 26:34within your capabilities. Starting to count to awaken you.
- 26:41123 Waking up 456 more alert. 7-8 Open your eyes.
- 26:48Open your eyes. 910 wide awake, wide awake, wide awake.
