- 0:07If you're in no contact and your ex texts you, do not be in a
- 0:12rush to respond. That message is not random.
- 0:17In this video I'm going to break down what your ex really wants
- 0:20when they reach out during no contact.
- 0:23Why responding the wrong way can backfire and how to respond, how
- 0:28to handle it without losing your leverage.
- 0:32But first. Hi, this is Lucia with the art
- 0:35of love. I'm a dating and relationship
- 0:37expert specializing in helping you get your ex back or to get
- 0:41over your ex. And welcome back my beautiful no
- 0:43contact army. Have you downloaded my app

- 0:59other members of the no contact army.

- 1:11Go to nocontactsecrets.com where you can read 2 free chapters
- 1:15before you purchase the book. OK, so when your ex texts you
- 1:20during no contact, this isn't about trying to interact with
- 1:23them. This is about avoiding mistakes.
- 1:28When an ex reaches out, it's usually a temperature check.
- 1:32They want to see if you're still available, just in case they
- 1:36change their mind. They pretend they're checking
- 1:40in, they want to see if you'll still respond.
- 1:43They want to remind you that they still exist, and they want
- 1:46to make sure that you don't get too far just in case.
- 1:49Yes, they broke up with you, but they don't want you to go too
- 1:53far. And the worst thing you can do
- 1:56is to respond too quickly. If you respond right away,
- 2:02you'll look eager, like you've been waiting for this moment.
- 2:05I know you have. But you don't want to make it
- 2:08look like you've been waiting for this moment.
- 2:11And in this scenario, not playing games is not going to
- 2:15help you because people say, well, I don't want to play
- 2:17games. Yeah, you kind of do.
- 2:20So you need to be prepared to fight your natural instinct to
- 2:24respond immediately. And also, waiting gives you 2
- 2:28advantages. 1, you don't look emotionally available on demand.
- 2:35And two, you give yourself time to think carefully about how
- 2:39you're going to respond. Because the respond you want to
- 2:43give when you first hear from them is probably not the
- 2:46response that you decide you want to give.
- 2:49If you wait 456 hours, even the next day, you don't have to
- 2:55respond right away. This isn't a normal and dating
- 2:57situation now. This is a breakup.
- 2:59You can respond whenever you damn well please.
- 3:04Now keep this in mind. If your ex was 100% certain
- 3:08about the breakup, if they were truly happy, confident, and
- 3:12relieved that you're out of their life, they would not be
- 3:16reaching out OK? Because they wouldn't want to
- 3:18give you false hope. They leave you alone because
- 3:22they know you're probably not very happy with them, so why
- 3:25would they contact you? So when they text, it means that
- 3:30there's uncertainty. They want reassurance that
- 3:33you're still there, that they haven't pushed you away, and
- 3:37that you haven't moved on emotionally or physically.
- 3:39And they could still get you back if they wanted to.
- 3:42Because as I've said many times, people are rarely 100% certain
- 3:46about a breakup when they are the dumper, but you cannot rush
- 3:51to give them the reassurance they're looking for, even though
- 3:54everything inside you was screaming to do it because it
- 3:57would calm your anxiety. But that's not strategic.
- 4:02If they think that they can get you back at any time, why would
- 4:06they hurry up and come back? If they feel they have all the
- 4:10time in the world and you're not going anywhere, there's no
- 4:14urgency. Think about it like this.
- 4:17If there's an item of clothing, let's say, and it's on sale all
- 4:23year round, there's no rush to decide, right?
- 4:27But if it's rarely on sale and only for a short time, you
- 4:30suddenly feel the pressure to make up your mind.
- 4:32It's like, hmm, I better buy it now if I really want it.
- 4:35Otherwise, who knows when it'll be on sale again.
- 4:38So they need to see that you're not going to be permanently
- 4:42available whenever they feel like coming back, even if that's
- 4:45exactly how you feel right now. And you know what?
- 4:49They may even feel entitled to you, especially if you were
- 4:52together for a long time. Like you'd be thrilled if they
- 4:55changed their mind. So you don't want to be too
- 4:59nice, too happy, too friendly. And you definitely don't want to
- 5:04compliment them because they will interpret that as you
- 5:08wanting them back. And do not ask if they're dating
- 5:14anyone. Even if they tell you the truth,
- 5:16what are you actually going to do with that information?
- 5:19I don't think it's going to improve your situation to know
- 5:22the answer to that. And also don't volunteer that
- 5:26you're dating because they'll see right through it and they'll
- 5:31know you're trying to make them jealous and that's not going to
- 5:33work. So if you don't give them
- 5:37reassurance, you force them to confront the reality that unless
- 5:41they do something, you will eventually be gone for good.
- 5:46And that pressure forces a decision sooner rather than
- 5:50later, which is what we want right now.
- 5:53If they reach out and they say I miss you, the worst possible
- 5:58response is I miss you too. And I have a whole separate
- 6:02video on how to respond to the I miss you text, and I'll put the
- 6:07link to that in the upper right hand corner on YouTube.
- 6:10And definitely don't volunteer that you miss them.
- 6:13They assume that you missed them and that's going to put pressure
- 6:16on them and it's actually going to push them away.
- 6:17It does not draw them closer, OK?
- 6:20They don't care if you miss them if their interest level is not
- 6:24high and you want to relieve your anxiety by saying that, but
- 6:29it's not going to help your cause, so shut up.
- 6:34This is also not the time to get pulled into a long emotional
- 6:38conversation about the relationship or the breakup.
- 6:41There's going to be time for that later if they earn it.
- 6:46So don't carry the conversation when they text you, just make
- 6:50statements. Don't ask questions, just mirror
- 6:53them. Don't talk more than they talk.
- 6:56They need to lead the conversation.
- 6:59Let them wonder if the breakup has turned you off, because
- 7:01maybe it has. They don't know, right?
- 7:03And this isn't about being cold, it's about not being as warm as
- 7:07they expected or hoped that you would be.
- 7:11So don't try to extend the conversation and don't tell them
- 7:15how much pain you're in. They assume you are in pain and
- 7:19if anything, they're going to be shocked if you act like you're
- 7:21not. They'll be like, well, I thought
- 7:23they'd be all broken hearted, but ha, they seem to be good.
- 7:27And that will actually draw them in.
- 7:29Even if you think, oh, it'll push them away.
- 7:31No, again, counterintuitive because you know, it might feel
- 7:35good in a moment, but it's not going to make them come back.
- 7:38When you appear OK with the breakup, they start to second
- 7:41guess whether they made a big mistake.
- 7:44And if your ex is reaching out at all, even with something
- 7:48trivial, which a lot of times it will be, it's a sign.
- 7:52And the sign is that no contact is working because all they have
- 7:56is silence, and silence leaves them with no idea what you're
- 8:00thinking or feeling. And finally, should you even
- 8:04respond the first time they reach out?
- 8:07Well, most of the time you should actually wait and see if
- 8:11they text again. It depends on what the message
- 8:14says, but most first texts aren't significant and waiting
- 8:21shows them that if they want your attention, they're going to
- 8:25have to put in a little more effort.
- 8:27They can't breadcrumb you or use you to get over you, which is
- 8:31sometimes what XS do. They want to be in touch so that
- 8:36they can get over you. But we're not going to let them
- 8:37do that, right? And I've actually done several
- 8:40videos on how to respond to an X and I will put the link in the
- 8:45upper right hand corner on YouTube.
- 8:47All right, So if you have any questions about what I said then
