  home, mom to the couple's two small children.

  It's just it's just a tragic story.

  Here's what we know. Oh, my goodness, they're so

  cute. It's not, well, we know, at

  least I suspect. Maybe we don't know.

  I suspect that one of the reasons why some cases take off

  and some cases don't. Some capture the natural, the
• 4:29
  national or international attention.

  Some get into the zeitgeist. I think has a lot to do with

  beauty. I really do.

  And this is a beautiful young couple with some cool style.

  I love that 70s suit and bow tie.

  So cool. But yeah, The immense joy of
• 4:50
  Spencer and Monique Tepe was unmistakable on their wedding
• 4:53
  day. In a 2021 video shared by the
• 4:55
  family, which captured them exchanging vows, the then
• 5:00
  newlyweds embraced and laughed in their Columbus, OH, home as
• 5:04
  friends and loved ones cheered them on.
• 5:06
  But just one month before their 5th anniversary, the same
• 5:10
  setting where the couple began their life together became the
• 5:14
  site of unspeakable tragedy. The respected dentist, 37, and
• 5:18
  his 39 year old wife, a stay at home mother, were found dead on
• 5:22
  Tuesday after being gunned down in their upscale home while
• 5:26
  their two young children were inside.
• 5:28
  And this might be the worst part of it.
• 5:32
  This reminds me of the Rebecca Byler case out here in western
• 5:35
  Pennsylvania. The young Amish mom who was
• 5:37
  murdered in front of her little children.
• 5:40
  Right, These two, these this couple, they were murdered in
• 5:47
  the same home where their two young children were inside.
• 5:50
  And we're talking little kiddos here.
• 5:52
  I've pixelated their faces, but we're talking little ones.

  Who wrote this? This is well written.

  Good writing. A memorial of roses and

  sunflowers now grows outside the home as news of the shocking
• 6:12
  killings spread nationwide just days after Christmas, generating
• 6:16
  more questions than answers. Law enforcement has been
• 6:19
  reluctant to disclose any details about a possible suspect
• 6:23
  or motive. And this again, was three days
• 6:26
  ago. We're going to, we're going to
• 6:27
  get an update. But said the killer or killers
• 6:30
  of the young couple remain on the loose.
• 6:32
  Even more mysterious, police revealed there were no obvious
• 6:36
  signs of forced entry and no firearm found at the scene,
• 6:42
  reported by WSYX. That makes me wonder if possibly
• 6:50
  there were casings found at the scene where their fingerprints
• 6:55
  or any DNA evidence. Of course, that kind of stuff
• 6:58
  that requires DNA testing, chemical testing, that's, that's
• 7:01
  going to be a while before we get it.
• 7:03
  But no firearm we know and no forced entry guys.
• 7:08
  Upscale homes tend to have security systems, right?
• 7:15
  And you know, in today's day and age, there really is no excuse
• 7:20
  for us to not have a basic security system that has cameras
• 7:25
  and stuff like that. Now, I know that that they're
• 7:28
  not foolproof. They're not, I guess, criminal
• 7:33
  proof. But we really should have have
• 7:40
  cameras near our homes, on our homes, facing outside, maybe in
• 7:45
  the main living areas too. Anyway, Police are asking the
• 7:52
  public for any information on a case they say is being
• 7:54
  investigated as a double homicide, not a murder suicide.

  Here's what we know and don't know about the tragedy.

  Again, as of the third, how concerned friends and colleagues
• 8:05
  LED police to the home. Spencer Tepe had rarely missed
• 8:09
  work at Athens Dental Depot, located about 75 miles southeast
• 8:14
  of the family's Columbus home. Wow, he he commuted and he and
• 8:19
  his wife were always responsive according to the owner of his
• 8:22
  practice, Doctor Mark Valrose, again, WSYX reported.
• 8:28
  But on Tuesday morning. What day is this again?
• 8:32
  Give me a second. This was the 3rd that it was
• 8:34
  reported, which was Saturday. So Tuesday would have been
• 8:37
  December 30th. So Tuesday morning he didn't
• 8:44
  show up for work, spurring concern from his colleagues that
• 8:47
  can colleagues that continue to grow when they could not get in
• 8:51
  touch with him or his wife, according to 911 calls.
• 8:55
  We're going to listen to the 911 calls.

  Val Rose made the 1st 911 call around 8:58 AM and asked police
• 9:02
  to conduct a Wellness check, telling this the dispatcher he
• 9:05
  is always on time and he would contact us if there were any
• 9:09
  issues, according to the recording.
• 9:12
  I don't know how else to say this, but we are very, very
• 9:14
  concerned. This is very out of character
• 9:16
  for him, he continued. We can't get in touch with his
• 9:20
  wife, which is probably the more concerning thing.
• 9:24
  You know, often times these dental practices become family.
• 9:28
  They become families. I had a fun experience.
• 9:32
  Total tangent here guys, total tangent.

  I had a really fun experience when we were driving in New York
• 9:42
  City over the holiday to help our daughter and son-in-law
• 9:47
  move. My wife and I, who have been
• 9:51
  married for 26 years, over 26 years.
• 9:54
  It was 26 in November. We, we were just, we were just
• 9:59
  reminiscing about old times and we started asking each other
• 10:02
  questions and I learned new things about my wife that I'd
• 10:05
  never heard because we didn't meet each other till we were 23
• 10:08
  years old. And I feel like I know, but it
• 10:11
  was so much fun to to learn new things about who she was, you
• 10:17
  know, growing up as a teenager. And the reason that that came to
• 10:20
  mind was she worked in two dental practices.
• 10:23
  And again, it's very much like a family affair, Right.
• 10:29
  OK, continuing the story from the 3rd, At 9:22 AM, an officer
• 10:33
  arrived at the home to perform the welfare check, but no one
• 10:36
  answered the door. Around 30 minutes later, Tepe's
• 10:40
  colleagues and a friend arrived at the home but also did not get
• 10:43
  a response, the dispatch record showed.
• 10:46
  A man at the scene also called 911 at 9:56 AM saying he heard
• 10:50
  children crying inside. Quote, I can hear kids inside
• 10:53
  and I swear I think I heard one yell, the caller said, according
• 10:57
  to dispatch audio. But we can't get in.

  At this point, I don't know if I need to break the door to get
• 11:02
  into the house or what. 2 minutes later, another colleague
• 11:06
  of Tepe called 911 to say they had been unable to reach him for
• 11:09
  about 3 hours. Around 10 O3 AMA friend of Tepe
• 11:13
  who said the two last spoke the day before was audibly
• 11:16
  distressed as he called 911. There's a body and this is this
• 11:21
  is the recording that we have fact.

  there's our our there's a body our our friend wasn't insurance

  We just came here and he appears dead.

  Imagine being the one that has to see that, has to discover it.

  And you know what? That that must have been a close
• 12:28
  knit little community in that practice or with their close
• 12:33
  friends because three hours is all that passed before they're
• 12:40
  calling police. And I can't tell you as a
• 12:42
  reporter how many times I report on a missing person.
• 12:47
  And it has been weeks since anybody saw them.
• 12:51
  And they finally decided to contact police.
• 12:53
  And there are a lot of reasons for that.
• 12:55
  I'm not blaming anybody. They're, they're sometimes
• 12:57
  they're really good, valid reasons for that.

  But in this case, 3 hours he was missing, he didn't show up for
• 13:05
  work. 3 hours later, they're, they're talking to police.
• 13:08
  This is this is a close crew. Laying next to his bed, off of
• 13:13
  his bed, and there's blood. I can't get closer to two more
• 13:17
  than that. OK, so you can tell he's
• 13:19
  obviously not breathing or anything.
• 13:20
  Yeah. Yeah.

  Is it like cuddle? Like, like cuddle like, you
• 13:23
  know, because does he look like. It doesn't.

  It's cuddled. I can't.

  I can't look. OK.

  And then? Again, there's blood, but don't

  ask me any more questions. I can't look the the whole man

  coming upon that scene. That's tough, man.

  Was the last time somebody spoke to him, like, yes.

  Yesterday, I suppose. Yesterday.

  a Wellness check on an individual at their home.

  So this would be the one that we read about just a few minutes

  ago. Well, I'm currently in the state

  of Florida. I'm on vacation.

  But this individual, Spencer, worked with me and he did not

  show up to work this morning. And we cannot get a hold of him
• 14:47
  or his family. Did it show up to work?

  Does he have medical problems or no?

  And he's been reliable and we cannot get in touch with him,

  his wife, his family, anybody that lives in that house.

  OK, there's two kids in the home.

  I own the business. I I was informed by my employees

  that he was not at work and he runs the office.

  Did you receive information? So he may have been involved in

  an accident or no, ma'am, I just know that he is the most like he

  is always on time and he would contact us if there is any

  issues whatsoever. And he, I just sent a house to

  say this. Like we're very, very concerned

  because this is very out of character and we can't get in
• 15:47
  touch with his wife, which is probably the more concerning

  thing. OK.

  We will send somebody over as soon as we have an officer

  just a little perturbed. I mean, think of multiple people

  are calling, including one guy from completely like from 1500
• 17:51
  miles away or whatever it is Ohio to Florida.

  It's not, it's not close. Like they're obviously very,

  very concerned. This is so out of character for

  this couple. And, and they're like, they want
• 18:07
  to make sure that that police are informed that somebody will
• 18:11
  do something after three hours. Man, I, I just applaud these

  people. They're amazing.

  Ages one and four were also found unharmed in the resident.

  Oh, let me just say. Officers found the bodies of

  Spencer Tepe, Monique Tepe in their home in the Weinland Park

  neighborhood, Columbus police said.

  Their two children, ages one and four, were also found unharmed

  in the residence, police said. Physically unharmed.

  I think we need to be clear about that.

  So Columbus police have not issued any warnings to the
• 19:50
  community about an ongoing threat, and the agency did not
• 19:53
  respond to CN NS questions about the timing of the killings,
• 19:56
  whether the Tepes were specifically targeted or any
• 19:59
  information about a suspect or motive.

  ago. The Franklin County Coroner's

  Office told CNN autopsy reports can take between 8 and 10 weeks

  to complete. A police incident report from
• 20:17
  Tuesday said Spencer and Monique were victims of a homicide.

  There's a police crime camera situated on a utility pole at an
• 20:25
  intersection located a few 100 feet from the Tepes home,
• 20:28
  according to The Columbus Dispatch.

  On Monday, police released surveillance video of what they
• 20:35
  describe as a person of interest walking in the alley near the
• 20:39
  Tepe's home during the period. Investigators believe the couple
• 20:43
  was killed between 2:00 AM and 5:00 AM.

  The person appears to be wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and
• 20:58
  light pants and is walking with their hands in their sweater

  pockets along a snow lined alley, the video shows.

  To help zero in on a motive and possible suspects, investigators
• 21:12
  will examine forensics. The possible entry of the
• 21:15
  killer, again, unforced, looks like.

  Whether anything was stolen from the home and the Tepe family's
• 21:32
  background to determine any further threat, threat to the
• 21:36
  rest of the community, according to CNN senior national security
• 21:40
  analyst Juliet Khayyam. Without a recovered firearm,

  it's not surprising detectives would investigate the deaths as
• 21:48
  a double homicide and not a murder suicide, Khayyam said.

  The other clue is, of course, the children are left safe.

  What we know about the deeply happy couple Spencer and Monique

  Tepe shared a beautiful, strong and deeply happy relationship,

  bonded by love of travel, laughter and a mission to build

  a life rooted in love, said their family.

  We are heartbroken beyond words, reads the statement on behalf of

  the family. As the devastating loss of the
• 22:19
  couple permeates their community, the family said they
• 22:22
  are committed to seeing this tragedy fully and fairly brought
• 22:25
  to justice. Good for them and to honoring

  them by protecting the future of their beloved children who are

  week as they shared the news of the sudden passing of the couple

  on Facebook. Quote He will be deeply missed

  by our team and the many patients he cared for over the
• 23:24
  years. Our thoughts and sincerest
• 23:25
  condolences are with their families and loved ones during
• 23:29
  this very difficult time. Spencer graduated from The Ohio
• 23:33
  State University and was a member of the American Dental
• 23:37
  Association, was a devoted and proud father, loving partner and
• 23:40
  a friend to everyone he met. His family said he was fluent in
• 23:44
  Spanish, a major fan of the Bengals and Buckeyes football
• 23:47
  teams, had a generous and energetic spirit.

  They said his wife, Monique Tepe, had a background in
• 23:53
  childhood education and brought care in it.

  An intention, intention. That's a that's a beautiful

  virtue to have into everything she did.

  Their family said. She was described as a loving,

  patient and joyful mother whose warmth defined her.
