- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:41Hi, it's Adam here. And in.
- 0:44This hypnosis episode. You're going to.
- 0:46Be listening to a hypnosis session All about preparation
- 0:50and I was working with a client that wanted to feel more
- 0:53prepared in two specific areas of their life.
- 0:57Firstly was work. They wanted to really feel that
- 1:01they could prepare more for certain projects, certain things
- 1:05they were working on meetings and that would give them an edge
- 1:09and they also wanted to feel this element of when.
- 1:13It comes to food. Quite often if they felt
- 1:16stressed or just tired or hungry.
- 1:18They would. Spontaneously and impulsively
- 1:22snack and eat. But when they prepared, when
- 1:24they knew what they were going to eat in advance and even kind
- 1:27of already have the food bought, that would create a very
- 1:31different dynamic in them. Instead of snacking, they would
- 1:34just eat whatever they'd made or prepared or bought and then
- 1:37actually. Stick to.
- 1:39That eating approach. So this hypnosis session really
- 1:43ties in these themes, but it uses an interesting metaphor and
- 1:47I asked the client which fictional character.
- 1:50Did they perceive to be? The most well prepared, and they
- 1:54said Mary Poppins. And if you're familiar with Mary
- 1:57Poppins, it's this fictional character.
- 1:59It was made famous in a Disney film, I think in the 1980s or
- 2:03something like that. But effectively you had this
- 2:06nanny that was looking after an American nanny, looking after
- 2:09British children. And she was very organized, very
- 2:12elegant, very well prepared. But she also had this bag.
- 2:15And in this bag, anything she needed, she could just kind of
- 2:17dig deep and kind of almost like a magician's hat.
- 2:20She could just take out whatever she wanted.
- 2:23And this becomes a very useful metaphor to enable this client
- 2:28to feel like they have the resources that they need.
- 2:31And also that in many ways, preparation is like magic.
- 2:35If you have everything ready before you need it, then when
- 2:38you need it, it's instantly there.
- 2:40So there is this idea of giving a.
- 2:42Gift to your. Future Self by being prepared.
- 2:45So if you can connect with this idea of never really being
- 2:49prepared, leaving things to the last minute, having to have a
- 2:52crisis because you hadn't already done things that might
- 2:54help beforehand, then I think you'd really benefit from this
- 2:58particular session. The ideal way to get the most
- 3:02out of this session is going to be to find a nice, quiet,
- 3:05comfortable place, the kind of place where you're not going to
- 3:07be distracted or disturbed, and then really relax and enjoy this
- 3:11session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 3:55you breathe in, breathe in that long relaxing breath.
- 4:04And as you exhale, just allow your eyelids to relax and notice
- 4:13that with your eyes closed, you're able to focus more on the
- 4:20sound of my voice. Breathing in that relaxation and
- 4:32exhaling that tension allow each breath to take you deeper and
- 4:43deeper. Relaxed.
- 4:48And the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you feel.
- 4:53And the more relaxed you feel, the deeper you breathe.
- 4:59And I wonder if, as your body relaxes, just how much your
- 5:06imagination awakens. And I wonder if you could
- 5:16imagine what it would be like to be a child being read a story.
- 5:26I want you to think of an old childhood bedroom, a particular
- 5:34bed, and just imagine being on that bed and someone reading you
- 5:39a story about Mary Poppins. Just imagine that feeling of
- 5:48relaxation. Who doesn't like to be read a
- 5:53story, hearing the sound. Take them deeper into that world
- 6:01of their imagination and just imagine drifting off to that
- 6:10place where when you hear a story, you turn it into a world
- 6:18within your imagination. And I want you to imagine seeing
- 6:25Mary Poppins with that combination of elegance,
- 6:34organization, fun, boundaries, but also preparation.
- 6:48Mary Poppins nose in advance what she will do before she does
- 6:54it. But I want you to get a sense
- 6:58that Mary Poppins also has an incredible and useful resource.
- 7:08She can open a bag, and whatever she needs is exactly what she
- 7:15will find in that bag. And I want you to imagine
- 7:24stepping into the story and feeling what it would feel like
- 7:29to be Mary Poppins. Imagine yourself as highly
- 7:37organized, intentional, and prepared, and I wonder what it
- 7:48would be like to have that bag and whatever you needed, it
- 7:56happened to be there in advance. I want you to get a sense that
- 8:02you could accomplish almost anything, because whatever you
- 8:07needed, you would have when you needed it.
- 8:17As you imagine. I want you to imagine this bag
- 8:23also contains meals. I want you to get a sense that
- 8:29if you wanted a delicious salad, all you would need to do is
- 8:35instantly open the bag, put your hand inside, and you would find
- 8:41a perfect salad already prepared in that bag.
- 8:46Or a healthy soup, or a healthy juice, or a healthy meal.
- 8:53I don't want you to get a sense of just how easy it would be to
- 9:01eat healthily if all you had to do is reach into Mary Poppins
- 9:08bag and take out a healthy meal. If it was that convenient, that
- 9:18accessible, isn't it the case that eating healthy would be
- 9:24easy? And consider yourself planting a
- 9:29seed of an idea deep in your subconscious mind as you think
- 9:35back to a time in your life when you were highly prepared.
- 9:43And maybe it was a time that you were prepared in work, doing the
- 9:48work to prepare and articulate all of those things that you
- 9:55were competent and capable in. I want you to get a sense that
- 10:03all of that preparation had a big payoff.
- 10:08And then I want you to think of a different time in your past
- 10:13where you were well prepared with food.
- 10:17Maybe you knew what you were going to eat before you even
- 10:22went to the supermarket, before you even prepared or cooked it,
- 10:29and certainly before you ate it. I want you to embrace the idea
- 10:38that preparation is the antidote to cravings and impulses.
- 10:46An impulse or a craving or a compulsion is thinking of
- 10:51something in the moment and then just eating or doing that thing.
- 10:57Preparation is setting an intention before you do the
- 11:02thing. And I want you to get a sense
- 11:06that it feels the preparation is just as magical as Mary Poppins
- 11:17magic bag. That you could prepare in
- 11:22advance for things that you will want or need before you want
- 11:30them. And in doing so, at the point
- 11:37that you want or need it. Just like that magic bag, it's
- 11:43already there, maybe in the refrigerator or maybe in the
- 11:48freezer or maybe in the cupboard or maybe somewhere else.
- 11:54Preparation enables you to give instant access to that future
- 12:04version of you. From this point forward, you
- 12:09will consider preparation an act of self love and an act of
- 12:17kindness to your future self. And maybe you've heard of that
- 12:25phrase. Paying it forward preparation is
- 12:31just paying it forward to that future version of you.
- 12:37Doing exercise today is giving the gift of strength to that
- 12:43future version of you. And eating well or shopping well
- 12:50or preparing food in advance is giving the gift of health and
- 12:55vitality and confidence to that future version of you.
- 13:04I want you to imagine you're still in Mary Poppins Home.
- 13:08And I want you to imagine somewhere in that home is a
- 13:13private cinema. And I want you to imagine you
- 13:18are now seeing the future version of you on that cinema
- 13:23screen. And you will hear suggestions
- 13:27that are giving inspiration and ideas to your unconscious mind
- 13:36that will help the future version of you.
- 13:43Preparation is just manipulating time.
- 13:52As you see yourself in the future, I want you to get a
- 13:57sense that every act of preparation is a gift that your
- 14:06present self gives to your future self.
- 14:11And the more you prepare, the more your future feels lighter,
- 14:16easier, and more enjoyable. And maybe when you imagine your
- 14:23future self thanking you, you get to feel proud to prepare in
- 14:31advance, because preparation makes you feel good in advance
- 14:37and in the future. Preparation is like feeling good
- 14:43twice and sometimes even more. Your subconscious mind will
- 14:51accept the idea that each small preparation today creates a
- 14:58chain reaction of ease and success tomorrow.
- 15:02And maybe you can see yourself on that screen, shopping for
- 15:10healthy foods and seeing that version of you that it feels
- 15:17like. Shopping for healthy foods is
- 15:21almost like choosing energy, clarity, and vitality in advance
- 15:25of feeling it. And when you set the intention
- 15:30for your meals, you feel grounded and in control before
- 15:37hunger or cravings ever speaks. You'll get the sense that
- 15:46cooking and preparing food in advance feels like laying the
- 15:52foundations of future health, and even you might experiment by
- 16:02labelling containers with the day and time, or which meal you
- 16:09will eat it under is like giving supportive messages to your
- 16:15future self. Each organized container feels
- 16:24like a magical step towards discipline, and discipline is
- 16:29like a roundabout where the effort is needed to begin with,
- 16:37but gets easier and automatic over time, Just like that
- 16:41roundabout spinning by itself. And preparation doesn't
- 16:49exclusively apply to food. Preparing for meetings feels
- 16:56like polishing a key that opens opportunities with confidence.
- 17:04Each moment of advanced planning helps that future version of you
- 17:10become sharper, calmer, and more persuasive.
- 17:16And projects can feel like a stage production.
- 17:19And when you set the stage in advance, it feels like a play
- 17:26that's been rehearsed to perfection.
- 17:31So much so that preparation at work creates freedom later
- 17:36because the path ahead is already clear.
- 17:44Don't expect everything to be smooth and easy and exactly as
- 17:48you wanted. Life will give you tests and
- 17:53challenges to test your preparation, to test your
- 17:59resilience. And every now and then you'll
- 18:02have a set back. But you will consider these
- 18:07temporary blips, like a bump in the road or a small traffic jam,
- 18:18not enough to deter you from making progress towards your
- 18:23destination. And the great thing about a set
- 18:28back is that every time you bounce back, your resilience
- 18:35grows even stronger, like a muscle trained by lifting heavy
- 18:41weights. A bad day does not undo your
- 18:47preparation, it simply makes your preparation even more
- 18:54valuable. The act of preparing for good
- 19:01days makes those challenging days shorter and easier to
- 19:07manage. More importantly, preparation
- 19:15feels satisfying, like putting the final piece in a puzzle
- 19:22before it's even needed. And the more you prepare, the
- 19:29more you feel a sense of calm certainty that you are always
- 19:36ready. The more you prepare, the easier
- 19:44life gets, and the easier it is to make excellent choices.
- 19:50So see that future version of you on the screen getting
- 19:53healthier, happier and more successful in work as a direct
- 20:00side effect of the preparation that you did in advance and
- 20:06before long. Preparation becomes your natural
- 20:11way of caring for yourself, creating a rhythm of success
- 20:17that continues to build. And I want you to see that
- 20:25future version of you duplicating, almost like there
- 20:32are two versions of you. And I want you to see a version
- 20:38of you that consistently prepares for five years,
- 20:45prepares your meetings, your work, your projects, your food,
- 20:49your shopping. And the other version never
- 20:54prepares, always reacts, follows cravings and impulses.
- 21:01And imagine seeing their journey until five years have passed.
- 21:07And allow your intuition to let you know which one will give you
- 21:12more of the life that you want. The version of you that
- 21:18prepares, or the version of you that responds, reacts, follows
- 21:26those impulses. And if your intuition, your
- 21:34subconscious mind knows the preparation increases the
- 21:39probability of gravitating towards the life that you
- 21:45desire, just let me know by nodding your head and step into
- 21:52that version of you, that version of you that doesn't have
- 21:56to prepare but wants to, that wants to help the future version
- 22:02of you in advance. Activate those feelings of
- 22:07desire to prepare. And just think of two or three
- 22:12things that you could do today or tomorrow that would help the
- 22:19future version of you and set the intention to do those
- 22:24things. And when you awaken, you will
- 22:28feel a craving to do the preparation.
- 22:36And every time you prepare you will feel proud in advance.
- 22:43The dopamine will come from the preparation, not from any
- 22:47snacking or foods. Preparation will make you feel
- 22:52good. But imagine leaving Mary Poppins
- 22:57cinema and then imagine what it would feel like to leave Mary
- 23:07Poppins house and float all the way back into your reality.
- 23:15You will awaken very soon when I count from 1:00 to 10:00.
- 23:21Feeling a desire to prepare in advance to help your future
- 23:27self, knowing the rewards will far outweigh any time and
- 23:38inconvenience in the preparation.
- 23:43So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 23:49nose. Wiggle your fingers and wiggle
- 23:53your toes. That's it.
- 23:54Connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 23:59from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 24:04Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 24:13Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910.
- 24:17Wide awake. Wide awake.
- 24:20Wide awake. Thank you for listening to The
