- Jessica Figueroa: Hello everyone. I'm wearing a really fun dress. It makes me feel like a cute little housekeeper. So what are you wearing today? Because remember, every once in a while you just want to dress nice. But welcome to the Just For Today podcast. My name is Cindy Marler, and I wanted to talk to you guys today about a prayer for God to open doors in your life and slam them shut. I think I'm not the best listener. So one of my prayers has always been, God, open doors you want me to walk through. wide open. And if I need to not be walking through that door or move a different direction, slam it shut. And I can tell you, after some decades of following Jesus, he will give you the answer to that prayer. I walk through open doors and when they get slammed shut, I pivot and walk the other way and maybe put some ice on my nose sometimes. But what a gift to know that as we're following the Lord's leading in our life, that he will make it so obvious. And sometimes I walk through a door that's wide open and I'm walking through it, I'm walking through it and it's wide open, then all of a sudden it slams shut. But sometimes it's months later. I'm like, God, why'd you have slammed that shut? You opened it so widely at the beginning. But then that scenario, he needed me almost for that bridge in time to be somewhere else so he could lead me to something else. So he was using it as like the open door as a placeholder, not that that open door was going to be the thing that turned out. So just for today, we're gonna look for open doors. And we're gonna look for doors slamming shut and we're gonna praise God for both. We're gonna get more attentive in our life and we're gonna pray and we're gonna ask God, open the doors and slam them shut, and let me see and make it obvious and know the difference. Because there's no better path for your life than to follow God's will in your life. But he's not just gonna come, he can, but usually he's not just gonna come down from the heavens, walk into your bedroom, and tell you what those plans are. Because he has a journey he wants you to go on. But that journey involves spending time with him and listening and getting better and better at it. So let's pray, dear Lord. We pray that you open doors in our lives that we're supposed to walk through and the ones that we're supposed to leave or not walk through or move a different direction. We pray that you slam them shut and you I pray that you help all of these listeners see and know the difference. And we give you all the glory, God. Amen. I'll see you guys tomorrow.
