- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hello, it's Adam here and you're about to listen to a hypnosis
- 0:43session. All.
- 0:44About avoiding overwhelm and actually finding that clarity
- 0:49and that ability to just do what needs to be done rather than
- 0:54avoiding it. And I was working with a client
- 0:56that was very, very capable, very resourceful.
- 1:01They did have ADHD and that made them prone to finding that shiny
- 1:04new thing rather than dealing with the things that were more
- 1:08admin based or gave them less of a payoff.
- 1:12That said, they were very, very capable and they were finding
- 1:16themself in this ostrich with their head in the sand syndrome
- 1:21where they were just putting off even thinking about things that
- 1:24if they dealt with in the moment would mean it was very easy to
- 1:27resolve, but by ignoring and delaying it was meaning the
- 1:32problems. Got bigger and.
- 1:33Bigger So for example, financially that might mean if
- 1:36you ignore a bill, but the bill then has penalties and interest
- 1:41and it affects your credit rating, not resolving it
- 1:44actually makes things much worse.
- 1:46Or if there's a leak and you just ignore the leak, well, the
- 1:50nature of water is it can, it's got to find a way out.
- 1:53It's going to cause more and more damage each and every day
- 1:56that you ignore that. So these are the kind of things
- 1:59that they didn't really want to resolve and it meant that they
- 2:02were driving blind or flying blind.
- 2:04And that metaphor is actually used in this hypnosis session.
- 2:09And it's a powerful metaphor because if you were flying blind
- 2:13or driving blind, you're not going to be able to go at the
- 2:16same speed you could if you had absolute clarity.
- 2:20And that clarity makes a big difference.
- 2:22So not knowing where you are and feeling like you're trying to
- 2:26keep your head above water is going to lead to a lot of panic,
- 2:29a lot of stress. Whereas if you feel that you're
- 2:31stable and you've got clarity, then actually you can start
- 2:35making decisions from a position of strength rather than
- 2:38frantically. So if you can relate to any of
- 2:40these themes, any of these ideas, you might get some real
- 2:43value from this session. Now, it was created for a very
- 2:46specific client who had specific needs and areas to focus on.
- 2:51They might not be your same needs and areas to focus on.
- 2:54So if you get value from this session, great.
- 2:57But if you want something a bit more bespoke to you, if you look
- 3:02in the description or my website adamcox.co.uk, you better find
- 3:06ways to work with me directly. For now though, I want you to
- 3:10find a quiet, comfortable place where you won't be distracted or
- 3:13disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 3:31Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 3:41wonderful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 3:46And right here, right now, as you breathe out, set the
- 3:50intention to release any stress, any tension, any overwhelm.
- 4:03Give yourself permission to release.
- 4:07You've gone through a lot stress, uncertainty, so release
- 4:14that as you breathe out. And when you breathe in, breathe
- 4:19in that wonderful feeling of resourceful relaxation.
- 4:27Breathe in that feeling of resourcefulness and continue to
- 4:31release. And sometimes when people are
- 4:35going through a stressful, anxious or overwhelming time,
- 4:43the clues are in the body. And maybe it's a tight jaw,
- 4:50maybe muscles are tensed, maybe there's a sensation in the chest
- 4:56of the guard that feels tight or twisted.
- 5:00And every time you exhale, exhale for longer and focus on
- 5:06that part of your body and the idea of letting go.
- 5:12And don't be surprised if your jaw loosens, your breathing
- 5:18slows down, your body starts to escape that brace position like
- 5:26you're about to crash. And instead I want you to feel a
- 5:32floating sensation. Because if you were lost at sea,
- 5:39being rigid and tense doesn't help.
- 5:43Being relaxed and breathing deeply means you float to the
- 5:48surface. And I want you to get a feeling
- 5:53that if you can float naturally, you don't need to feel like
- 5:59you're about to drown. But here, in this moment,
- 6:04position your body in such a way where you can really relax.
- 6:10And in that comfortable position, don't try to force
- 6:14anything. Just allow yourself to pause
- 6:19long enough to notice that your body already knows how to settle
- 6:26and relax when nothing is demanded of it.
- 6:34You can choose to breathe in deeper and exhale for longer,
- 6:40but you don't have to because breathing happens automatically,
- 6:47the heart moves blood automatically, and your nervous
- 6:52system has kept you alive through hundreds if not
- 6:57thousands of unpredictable moments.
- 7:05And connect to that idea because you've already proven something
- 7:10powerful, and that is that you already have the resources to
- 7:19navigate life. And of course, there's been
- 7:24times where it felt that you were just trying to keep your
- 7:30head above water, frantically paddling, treading hard, working
- 7:40to stay afloat, occasionally getting a breath before the very
- 7:47next wave arrives. And when it feels like that your
- 7:55mind doesn't like to be stressed.
- 7:59It creates a simple strategy. Don't look at the waves, just
- 8:06keep moving. But something fascinating
- 8:11happens when a person stops for a moment and just looks around.
- 8:20Sometimes they realize they were never actually in deep ocean.
- 8:30They were in a shallow pool and at any point they could have
- 8:36just stood up and all of that effort wasn't needed.
- 8:45They were working so hard to stay afloat in water that they
- 8:53could have just stood up in any way.
- 8:57And once that idea becomes clear, everything can change if
- 9:04you allow it. Because instead of fighting the
- 9:09water and ignoring the waves, you can simply stand.
- 9:16And when you stand, the body relaxes, breathing becomes
- 9:23easier, and clarity returns. I want you to imagine.
- 9:34Imagine floating to a different a different world, a different
- 9:39situation. And imagine that you are
- 9:45standing in front of a powerful vehicle, a big engine.
- 9:52It can drive fast. This is a powerful vehicle.
- 9:59The engine works well. The journey is important.
- 10:05But I want you to imagine what it would be like to climb into
- 10:09that powerful vehicle and refuse to ever look at the dashboard
- 10:17and just imagine. Imagine someone has smeared mud
- 10:24all over the windscreen. You have a powerful, capable
- 10:30car, but you can't see the dashboard and you can't see the
- 10:36road. How confident would you be
- 10:43driving that vehicle? If you we're driving blind, you
- 10:52may not drive at all. You might choose to avoid to
- 10:55drive. But if you had to drive, you
- 10:59would make very short journeys and you would drive very
- 11:04cautiously. You would only drive if you
- 11:09absolutely needed to. But there is another way.
- 11:19Every experienced driver knows you don't even need to stop the
- 11:24car. You can simply clear the
- 11:28windshield. The push of a button spraying
- 11:32that cleaner, the window wipers moving from left to right.
- 11:39And within seconds, driving has gone from something to be
- 11:44avoided to something that becomes empowered, useful and
- 11:52even fun. Just a decision.
- 11:58And suddenly the road appears. And that would be much more
- 12:06beneficial to drive. But if you also looked at the
- 12:10dashboard, you would know when you're running low on fuel, if
- 12:17the engine is overheating, how fast you're going.
- 12:23These don't control you. They're just information for you
- 12:28to make empowered decisions. And when you make empowered
- 12:34decisions, driving can go from scary to stable.
- 12:44I wonder if your life is like that by not knowing how much
- 12:49fuel you have in the tank, if you're going to be left stranded
- 12:53and high and dry, or any dangers on the road ahead.
- 12:58Avoidance makes sense. But when you see things for what
- 13:05they actually are, driving is not dangerous, not reckless, and
- 13:11not stressful. In fact, you can accomplish more
- 13:17by driving than you ever can by walking.
- 13:22Clarity amplifies capability. And I wonder in your life, what
- 13:33are the potholes, the turns ahead, the destination, the
- 13:38direction? And with visibility and clarity,
- 13:43a difficult or impossible journey becomes easier.
- 13:49Not slower, not harder, just smarter.
- 13:57They say ignorance is bliss, and you've seen an image of an
- 14:03ostrich with its head in the sand.
- 14:08But the head in the sand does not make the predator disappear.
- 14:12It makes the ostrich more vulnerable to the predator
- 14:17because it doesn't know where it is.
- 14:21And maybe you've thought if I look at something difficult, it
- 14:27will overwhelm me. I don't have the time to deal
- 14:31with this right now. But your mind has looked at
- 14:37difficult things many times in life.
- 14:41You face challenges, solved problems, built things, learned
- 14:47skills. And this means something
- 14:51important about you, that you are already someone who can
- 14:58experience discomfort and still take effective action.
- 15:05It's one of the most powerful abilities a human can have, the
- 15:10ability to move forward, to take responsibility even when things
- 15:17are imperfect or difficult. If you have to wait for
- 15:22everything to feel easy, that day may never come.
- 15:29But know that progress often begins in small, practical
- 15:34steps, and each step makes the next step easier than the step
- 15:41before. What if you created a dashboard
- 15:48within your life, similar to the cockpit in a private jet?
- 15:57What if you create life that begins to resemble that
- 16:02dashboard, that control panel of a very powerful system?
- 16:10And sometimes it might be the dashboard on accounting
- 16:16software. It might be a graph, it might be
- 16:22numbers in red or green. Nothing dramatic, just signals.
- 16:29What if cash flow is like fuel in the tank?
- 16:35What if there are prompts to remind you about bills to pay
- 16:39and things to respond? What if you set things up to not
- 16:48have to think appointments that take place once every six months
- 16:53or 12 months, and you just do them because they're in your
- 16:57diary? Each signal is simply
- 17:03information. Not a crisis, not a judgement,
- 17:08just information that helps you steer effectively.
- 17:14Because the very best pilots don't panic when they see an
- 17:20alert on their indicator. They glance, they adjust and
- 17:25refine, and they continue flying.
- 17:28And when you begin to recognize that your life works very much
- 17:36the same way, that visibility and clarity brings control, and
- 17:45that empowerment leads to decisiveness, decisions brings
- 17:52stability, and stability brings peace.
- 18:00And I want you to imagine. Imagine seeing yourself one year
- 18:05from now in a different chapter called Stability.
- 18:11I want you to see yourself one year from now looking the most
- 18:16empowered that you ever have. That version of you knows what's
- 18:22going on. Unfinished business or open
- 18:26loops, all resolved. If there's problems, you know
- 18:31about them. You are the captain of your
- 18:35ship, and I want you to see that this new version of you moves
- 18:42towards the things you used to avoid.
- 18:46That's what makes that version of you so empowered.
- 18:51They make the decisions, they don't avoid them, they take the
- 18:55actions. They don't procrastinate or
- 18:58delay them. And in doing so, they have
- 19:03stability. And with that stability, it
- 19:08forges a foundation for bigger decisions that can lead to more
- 19:14freedom. There's no point having money
- 19:18with chaos. Isn't it better to grow and
- 19:23succeed while feeling accomplished and peaceful?
- 19:30See that version of you one year from now and look for clues
- 19:36about how you've structured your life so that it isn't a blip,
- 19:42it's a standard. Maybe you have reports, rituals,
- 19:50things you do the same time each week or month, things you check,
- 19:56alerts. I want you to see that that
- 20:00version of you is not firefighting and constantly
- 20:06dealing with emergencies. That version of you is focusing
- 20:13on what is the best use of your time and delegating everything
- 20:19else to people that are more naturally suited to doing that
- 20:25thing. You don't have to repair your
- 20:30own teeth. A dentist is better at doing
- 20:34that. You don't have to fix a leak.
- 20:38A plumber or a tradesperson can do it better.
- 20:42And you don't have to go through every receipt.
- 20:46A bookkeeper loves doing what for you may be mundane, boring,
- 20:52or overwhelming. You are the captain of the ship.
- 20:58You are not every single crew member at exactly the same time.
- 21:04And when you get a sense that that future version of you has
- 21:10figured out the boundaries, the rituals, the patterns, and the
- 21:13habits to create that stability, then imagine stepping into that
- 21:20future version of you and feel how you would feel.
- 21:26Notice it doesn't feel like you're driving blind.
- 21:30It doesn't feel like you're constantly drowning.
- 21:34It doesn't feel that there is a sword of Damocles dangling over
- 21:38your head. You feel peace because you know
- 21:45you know what to do and how best to do it, even if it's not you
- 21:51that actually does those things. And as you hold that thought,
- 21:57knowing that a more stable, peaceful future is waiting for
- 22:02you, unlock all of the resources to create a chain reaction.
- 22:08Small steps, little decisions that take you towards that and
- 22:14start with tomorrow. What are one or two things you
- 22:19can do tomorrow that move you in that direction?
- 22:25What are the things that could be scary and you just don't know
- 22:28because you've been avoiding? And remember, the child doesn't
- 22:36look for the monster under the bed because the monster is
- 22:39scary. But when they do look, rather
- 22:43than avoid, the monster disappears.
- 22:48And I think many of your scary worries will disappear the
- 22:54moment you look in the very place where you've been
- 22:59avoiding. It's time to return to the
- 23:03present, taking these changes with you.
- 23:05So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 23:10nose. Wiggle your fingers and wiggle
- 23:13your toes. Connect and calibrate into the
- 23:17here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken
- 23:24you. Starting to count 123 waking up
- 23:30456 more alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 23:35Open your eyes 910. Wide awake.
- 23:39Wide awake. Wide awake.
